they said in an ama they were going to do that. https://www.reddit.com/r/Palia/comments/1650bkg/comment/jybgn29/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button
that was also two years ago tho, so.
I am Dyslexic and find there is a lot of text in the game but the characters verbal dialogue dows not match it. It would be really good if the game text was said aloud so I do not mis out on important gameplay.
Completed the game suggestion page with this; Could the characters 'say' the game dialogue instead of it just coming up on the screen.
I miss vital information when playing the game.
Being able to refer to these in the the game progress pages somewhere somewhere would be helpful too.

Would be nice if the ZLC saved 3 or 4 days of coins instead of just 2. Sometimes depression just kicks your butt and you literally do not have the energy to log on for a second every other day because your brain is busy fighting itself.
Just dropping this here- https://caniplaythat.com/2025/03/20/accessible-games-initiative-announced-by-esa-and-industry-partners/
ty for this. Will read this later when my brain isnt as fuzzy 💛
It's a voluntary thing that games and storefronts would have to opt into. But its something.
👋
and now back into the shadows 🤣
anyone else feel like some bug spawns are too rare to be able to complete the bundles? 😨 its getting difficult to compete
you can ask for tips in #🐞│hunting-insects or go to #🦋│issues-discussions, as this thread is dedicated to accessibility issues (and here i'm assuming your problem has nothing to do with accessibility needs, since you specifically used the term 'spawn', but if i'm wrong i apologize in advance)
!! this !! also like a sort of um fortnite style accessibility visual cue circle that flashes up in the the direction of sounds i.e. for the foraging or bug sounds and stuff? a visual cue for the fishing would be so helpful, as well as many other in-game tasks
I am crawling out of my hobbit hole (read: Palia house) to agree with all the things said here
Nothing big, so just a points of interest list really
- a fair but if quest process flow (not mechanics) and recipe requirement streamlining (read the patch notes to see if one you're stuck on will trigger or easier to fulfill)
- Bouncy mushroom decor (possible motion sickness warning and we'll see if it comes with VFX)
- Mystery outfit gifting could give outfit with harmful VFX, more just a bummer than a problem without the toggle to turn them off
- New premium landscape - Dunno if big balloons would be a visual issue for anyone?
- New animated premium emote, no vfx
Bug fixes
- Resolved an issue causing the game to randomly display a white screen. 🤞 Hopefully true
- Fixed an issue that caused brightness and shader issues after switching between Landscapes
Oh and as being discussed in other places - without a way to decline individual gifts or opt out of receiving them at all, gifting can be a social anxiety issue or used as part of harassment
There's still a white flash that appears during loading screens.
Starred fishing bubbles are still silent
edit: changed the word 'nodes' to 'bubbles'
Bouncing on the mushroom jump-pads are a bit flashy. I'd be careful using those/jumping on them.
doing house tours and someone has a demo plot up so i took a video of it - the flashy is akin to snowballs? i think
idk if i'd say snowballs but it's not great eitherway and is overstimulating for me at least.
Also! putting them on low effect didn't help or change anything
I managed to get a still of the animation/effects... There's a lot of white in there that's for sure.
hi um… just wanna say that the switch haptics are completely bugged. Theres NO haptics. People with visual impairments tend to use these. (As well as others.)
It’s giving random (sometimes very violent) vibrations, none of which are tied to the activities you’re doing. As someone who has VERY bad eyesight, this makes the game almost completely unplayable. ☹️
I know it’ll probably be addressed next patch, but I fear that’s a really long time for such a critical accessibility feature.
Please separate bobber sounds from the ambient sound slider. I need the ambient sound of the weird grating frog sound that makes my skin crawl off but the bobber sound I need to know when to catch goes with it

Warning: Flashing shadows effect.
I noticed this happening a lot on my plot with the shadows on medium. When I turned them up to epic it stopped happening.
It's only happened since the patch.
ya S6 has not fixed a darn thing when it comes to the usual strobe also - it flashes like 2x during the transitions (exit & enter) (for lack of a different precise term) - still more lies an no fixes - and added more with regular shadow movement etc. - on epic also and makes no diff on refresh rates either for me
Same.
I also have issues with nausea after gardening, hunting, fishing, because of the force perspective change. I would love an option to turn that effect off.
^ just to add to this, xbox also announced the same thing around the same time and sony as well as others are listed on the website mentioned in the article, so it looks like at least those 3 storefronts will be starting to add these tags sometime soon™️
thank you Kali!
it'll be interesting to see if/how the tags impact game sales & returns since some of those are make or break features for people generally
I wish we could have parties bigger than 4
I struggle with both as well. Fishing is worse for me. My reaction time is just not good enough for anything but the slowest fish
with server sizes of 25, parties of 5 would make more sense than 4 but like 10 would be much easier on the really social players
Anyone getting extreme input lag playing with controller since last update or so?
hi fren. i’m grateful for the information and really sorry that you experienced that and that there’s a server like that.
as much as i wish we could warn folks about stuff like this, i think it might go against a couple of server rules here. specifically, i don’t think we’re supposed to mention outside servers, and it might technically fit in the “name and shame” category, even though if that’s how the server is, i’d also want to be warned before joining.
just letting you know that the mods may take it down or something. and again, i’m so sorry you had that experience /gen
Oh I see, thank you, it's been a long time and I was just thinking I remember I felt blame not being able to hold them accountable for others who would come after me to join the server, today I see the lack of respect in society and felt I had to at least do something at last, warn to keep people safe and going to places that are accessible instead... you think that's allowed to be reported even if it was a discord server?
that’s such a lousy experience. i don’t blame you for how you’re feeling/felt. i think that you’re actually really brave in bringing this up and trying to warn people about it.
the rules around here have to be applied equally. so a lot of stuff i don’t agree with gets to stay, and a lot of stuff that i do agree with has to go. i don’t actually know if what you said went against the rules. it’d be best to reach out to modmail for clarification. i don’t think they’d do anything beyond deleting the message and letting you know if anything you said went against the rules. i’m not a mod/affiliated with the mods though, just someone who’s seen what tends to get actioned against around here. and again, i’m so sorry you had that experience, and i hope you don’t feel guilty about wanting to warn others.
!modmail
Hey there!
This looks like something you can reach out to the mods for help! You can contact them via ModMail, a bot that will set up a private conversation with the team.
To use ModMail, DM @haughty walrus (that can also be found at the top of our member list).
It will walk you through the process to reach out to the mod team. If you are in multiple servers utilizing ModMail, please make sure to select Palia.
Thanks!
aw thank you so much for your kind beautiful words validating everything, I will remember them 🥹 and I completely understand what you mean, I see how it could be interpreted that way so you helped me and I thank you truly 🤍 - I know sometimes rules that seem to protect the peace for everyone are only made from a single perspective, I'll try to think the best of it and just try a different way, it's okay, thank you again!
i find what works best for me is to remember that this is an official discord that represents the game’s studio as a whole. so while i might not agree with what actions are taken or not taken by the mods, they’re trying to be equitable when they make decisions on what should or shouldn’t be actioned on. they’re also unpaid labor, so they do what they do out of the kindness of their hearts. i do think they act with the best of intentions and likely disagree personally with decisions they sometimes have to make.
Same for me. I miss the haptics on Switch the most but the lack of sound is … grating. Ironically.
yes, agree! it's difficult to be able to be of service for everyone and for free. And thank you for your patience with my english cause I just noticed re reading that what I wanted to mean was if I am able to report them even if the experience I had was on discord cause they are from discord 😅 but still I will ask them instead
report the server? mods can’t really do anything about private servers 😞 only stuff that’s posted here. but yeah, asking them for more information is the best way to go.
also, your english was very understandable.
oh well... hopefully they don't get advertised here in communities again, thanks again meeks, you were very kind
of course! and don’t feel afraid to post here or anything — i hope i didn’t discourage you from doing so. you clearly have a kind heart and good intentions, would love to have you around if you feel like staying!
nothing to worry about, if anything I feel validated for the first time after that experience and less lonely that someone else saw the problematic right when I mentioned it 🫂
Something that might be worth looking into if any of y'all are wanting a Switch 2 for Palia or otherwise.

Is This Mouse Grip the First Switch 2 Accessibility Peripheral? – Access-Ability
What key binds do you use for belt and bow? I want to be able to switch to either when gathering resources. (I started on switch last week. Moved to PC with Xbox controller. Now I’m on Keyboard mouse. Been ages!)
I use b for the bow and n for bombs, because I can easily reach them. Even though I forget all the time that I made those keybinds and still go to the tool wheel.
I like using the F keys since I don’t use them for anything else. I started with what I use the most and went from there.
All my tools are F key bound as well.
I don't know if this is the right channel for this, but I wish we were able to gift star quality food and such. Mainly because all of my ingredients for food and stuff is ALL star quality and I can't gift people ingredients when they need them.
Really solid epilepsy warning with actually accurate information on how to avoid seizures during gameplay. Thank you so much, from one Epileptic Human

the chat loves to consistently (every few messages, honestly) glitch to where its flickering up and down when a new message is sent. im fortunately not epileptic, but i am autistic and visual stimuli (flashing lights, flickering, repeated patterns, etc) can be extremely overstimulating and physically painful at times. gets pretty distracting in bahari when im trying to hunt
i think theres a streamer mode that turns off chat. im not entirely sure, i've never used it myself and cannot say if this would actually fix it
Streamer mode is a blessing. It will only show an alert when I join a new server, when someone fulfills my item request, or when a party invite expires (which is funny because it doesn't show when I get one, haha). I'm on my Switch, and I have yet to have a chat glitch, so I hope it'll help you!!
/nm I mean... I already knew that. If I wanted to turn my chat off I'd have done so already. I like being updated on call-outs and knowing where things like dari cloves are. I'm really just bummed that flashing bugs/glitches in the game (more than just chat) haven't been dealt with for a while now, and are negatively impacting parts of the playerbase.
I know neither of you meant this, but it kind of feels like the rhetoric "well then just don't use it/go there" that a lot of us disabled people get told when we complain about lack of accessibility. I'm not looking to turn chat off. I just wanted to bring up this visual bug and how it impacts me, not really asking for a 'solution'.
When my chat does that glitchy thing, entering the chat like I'm about to type and then exiting out of it seems to reliably fix it
mine only fixes about half the time i do that, so I have to look away until the chat fades
Thanks for mentioning this. Flashing triggers nausea and migraine for me. Switch isn’t having this issue, but I was thinking of getting a PC so I could play with a mouse and keyboard but I’m a little hesitant now if it’s going to increase flashing issues. Did you happen to report this as a bug via the support site? If you did and it’s still an open issue, I can go add my vote to it.
Im working on submitting it right now :)
Oh, absolutely!! I know that if it's a "genuine concern" (something that is an immediate "I can't play with this issue" sort of thing), a quick fix could be a big help. Which, honestly, is why I wanted to mention that it helped.
I'm very sorry it came off in that way
and I hope that there's a resolution to this without having to decide between having the issue and missing a big part of the game that you appreciate having!
It's been an issue off and on for... Almost a year now? Just over a year? So there was has been attempts to fix it, which could mean it's marked fixed on some bug list somewhere so sending new reports of it currently happening to support would be good and if it's still on a to-do list then more reports should help prioritize it (should)
This being a p2p channel, it is mostly commiseration and work arounds
So, from today's announcement - just a list of points of interest regardless of impact
- No April patch so that they can fix more things before elderwood on may 13
- Coming to Xbox and PlayStation " full feature parity with PC and Nintendo Switch – but we’ve also added a few cozy touches tailored for each platform." Specifically references controls, might help some here?
- More aggressive huntables - "attacks" to debuff you and better hunted together with more hiding critters
- More stuff in every category
- Ew looking real dark with bright objects
- more vertical stuff (heavily emphasized in interviews) so lots more climbing and gliding
- Bounce pads appear to be in the ew - the flash may be a bigger impact with the darker area
- Two new equipment types - one unique to ew and one for individual and party buff system to unlock
- New/more refer a friend rewards that are bouncy pads too
- better fast travel as part of gameplay progression
In addition to the links in #📢│palia-news there's also https://palia.com/elderwood if you want stills and text instead of the trailer
this might be extra flair for the trailer, but yeah the bouncy pad flash looks much worse in ew (still image, spoilered for ... spoilers rather than danger)
"" the quest will require temple progress to be completed, but there is other gameplay within the map that doesn't require access, other quests to find, AND i'm actively looking into ways to improve the temple of flames/gales experience ""
^ From Vega, and in regards to Elderwood map access and quests.

Hi everyone!

Replying to this (without a ping) to show one of the lists that Celosia makes almost each time a patch drops, or news, about possible/potential accessibility concerns (or improvements)!
Very grateful for them
I’m a bit worried about the new one that spits things at you because by the time I shot it and then thought about it it’s probs shot me and ran a bit so then I run and I loose it and ugh. I really appreciate its good for like 99% of players to have fun challenges like this to work with but it’s giving me anxiety and makes me not even want to try
I’m just really mentally slow it takes me ages to think about my next step and everything so I just feel like I’m going to fail 1000% at this. That’s why I’ve never really hunted for maujin they’ve always been to fast for me
If it helps at all, it looks like in the video I saw, it only shot once and then ran around a little. I really hope it isn't as bad as some people are thinking and worried about. And hopefuly there will be something/ways to help counter that-- similar to Dispel arrows that we can use against some of the current huntables.
And thankfully, at least, we can group up! That's at least one very good thing-- that you can be partied up with someone, and hunt for stuff or bug catch, and you both should get the loot (as long as you both are close enough to eachother)
I will say, Muujin is definitely the main one (for me) that is really tough and I always always need someone helping me out with.
I'm just glad that I can chop the tree they might be in, and i still get loot for it if someone else shoots it (even if we're not in a party).
In the play through video, new arrows were mentioned so there's a chance they'll give us some extra help
Yeah! I'm honestly a bit intrigued to see what it's gonna do and stuff.
I hope they'll add a "buy multiple" option in shops, it's painful having to spam click 200 times to buy stone bricks
Hey, so I've been making a big spreadsheet over the past few days detailing the various accessibility issues in Palia- I got a bunch of stuff on it already, but I'd love if everyone here could share what they know of/want to see fixed so I can make sure they're included.
(Please ping me if responding to this! I want to be sure I won't miss any messages)
have you already gone through the pins here? or checked in with other folks doing something similar?(not sure if they still are, that survey and such was before the layoffs of the last of the CMs)
I got most of what's on that pinned sheet, there's a couple other things I can add from it though- thanks for bringing that to my attention 👍
I don't know of anyone else who is currently working on a sheet, I do know Lacie's seen what I've put on mine so far at least^^;
Which is why I want to add even more to it, make sure I've got everything I can cover
if i remember correctly there was a huge undertaking by players (some were shepps) to collect all the issues that included a few rounds of surveys and they expected it to take a few months to comb through the responses, but then there were more layoffs and s6 presence dropped here so i don't remember seeing a finished report
Yeah, I remember this. But I think it kinda dropped off, since of everything that's happened.
I at least helped Tarina with skimming the chat here a little bit (not too too far, admittedly.)
had to satisfy my own brain and find it, turned out there were two but I don't see results posted for either
- #♿│accessibility-discussions message
- #♿│accessibility-discussions message (pretty sure this is the one I was thinking of)
Yup. They laid off our contacts, and no one else there wanted to listen to me. I finally resigned (as a Shepp) for my sanity.
Or at least, no one else who would have been allowed to listen/interact with me. If things change and people in power at S6 actually start listening about accessibility, that would be amazing, but if I held my breath for that, I'd be long dead by now.
Your heart is in the right place--but it's sadly not new ground; don't let it burn you out.
Melodic! 💛
💜
Honestly? The reason I decided to give this a shot is because A) S6 said they're taking this month to focus on bug-squashing ahead of EW instead of releasing a patch, and B) we have a CM again, at long last (might not be permanent, but at least we have one for the moment)
Those two reasons, at least, are enough to try. Here's hoping it bears fruit, but I'm not going to burn myself out on it if it doesn't
Originally I had just intended to write up a list of a number of screen flashing issues and other similar bugs that needed fixing and then I.... just kept adding onto it xD
You do you--the amount of work to fix accessibility in Palia is more than a month's worth of work at this point, even if they were solely focusing on addressing accessibility issues. Unless something has changed, they don't have accessibility consultants and the folks there who didn't listen to me or the previous CMs are still there making decisions, so I'm highly skeptical that they'll change, even with a new CM.
If they do, that's great.
Accessibility is always a good cause and worth fighting for, and if you want to take up the mantle and run with it, by all means. I just wanted to be as clear as I can be with you on the reality of the situation and what you're facing so you can take that into account when deciding how much of your energy/wellbeing to put into this. Good luck. /gen, in case that isn't already clear ❤️
Yeah, I hear you on that. I know a roadmap should be coming out sometime after EW's launch- I think that will tell a lot in terms of where S6's priorities will be after EW. So we'll see.
glad you made an appearance; we sure do miss you. edit: coming from someone you probably never interacted with in the first place, that’s gotta be a little weird, but i sure know of your accessibility advocacy and am super grateful for it!
so hoping they deliver a roadmap. and ty for making the spreadsheet! we can’t know if the issues will be addressed, and it’s really lousy that former/current players have to bring attention to the studio that they exist. but it’s folks like you and orii who at least try that can help make a change. i appreciate you both!
#🌟│sixer-tracker message
^ if it helps, WC has mentioned a roadmap is on the way- and it turned out I was mistaken, it sounds like it'll be coming on or possibly before EW launch. So we shouldn't have long to wait at all.
Wild that this ended up coinciding within a few days of the 6-month mark from when I stepped down. It was an exceptionally hard choice to make, but it's been for the best. I do miss y'all, and want all the best for all of you.
I know that when the roadmap was first brought up as for-sure going to happen, a lot of people brought up wanting to see accessibility included on it
they have been getting reamed for not even having a proper flash warning or using things available in the engine(this one is just something i'm repeating from others, I dunno much about it) for 2+ years now so they know players want them to put in at least the minimum effort on it
we sure as heck miss you (and others.) dunno what made you show back up, but i’m really happy to see you back.
hope everything has been well and you’re doing ok
they added a warning!
||in a trailer. during the flashing lights.
||
Not sure if you have it already on there, but a way to get the sound cues without having to rely on hearing them would be nice.
(Disclaimer, I can switch on the sound for a while if necessary, just find it a bit too much/too overwhelming to keep it switched on all the time. So, there might be workarounds I'm not aware of as I don't strictly need them.)
And, thank you for the work you do!
I second the sound cue alternatives
I didn't realize there were sound cues😂
One suggestion I wrote down was minecraft-like subtitles for sound effects
Minecraft has things like
< Chicken clucks
Pig oinks >
Where the < and > signal which direction the sound is originating from
Thanks!
There are, bugs and gatherables make a specific sound each, and I've been told the appearing grove can be heard (and its direction/probable area found that way) through half the bay.
It would be super helpful even for abled players to have an alternative to sound cues like that in case someone wants to turn of those sounds for voice chat, watching videos or listening to music while playing.
It's sad how Palia's claimed inclusivity is kind of one dimensional and leaves out a lot of disabled people and real money premium shops always give me the vibe of preying on neurodivergent people.
Which also adds to the not accessibility by certain outfits, ect
real money premium shops always give me the vibe of preying on neurodivergent people.
That's a hefty and infantilising claim to make, I'd like to hear the reasoning behind that as a neurodivergent person myself. IMO Palia's gone out of its way NOT to monetise things (eg. nameplates, furniture) and by having only cosmetic items available for real money AND limiting your loyalty club membership length.
I understand why you have this view on my claim if you struggle less with this aspect of neurodivergency.
Not everyone is the same and some of us struggle less in some aspects than others.
On the outside it seems like I have a very good regulation of what I spend my money on. But I rather avoid even looking at ways to spend money and avoid any impulse buying and feel bad afterwards or be able to resist the urge and still feel like crap.
I know it's only cosmetics but I managed to be unable to start other games because I downloaded too many cosmetic mods for them after spending hours over hours looking at mod pages and downloading with no end
That sounds to me like you're projecting your personal struggles with self-regulation on ND people as a whole... just saying
(Again, I say as an ND person myself). Palia has demonstrably gone out of their way to avoid monetising things. I don't think it's fair to blame them for your issues with spending.
(I also have documented spending issues)
I talked to other ND people who really got into money problems because of free to play games who offer stuff in their real money shops
So I may struggle but at least it doesn't get me into money problems
Freemium microtransactions are absolutely a scourge. Is this scourge present in Palia? Not at all.
The ones that are a scourge constantly shove it in your face, either via ads or locking necessary/reasonable items or gameplay behind a pay-to-win microtransaction
Yeah, and not all neurodivergencies (it's not shorthand for a specific couple of conditions, but an umbrella term) have impulsivity has a symptom
I'm not here to fight over what vibe I get from a premium shop of a company that laid off almost half of their staff and got acquired by an even bigger company while dropping attempts to improve their accessibility and stay in contact with advocates for more accessibility from within the community.
And while not all have the same struggles, people who do have problems with impulsivity are part of the ND community.
Not all ND people have the same sensory issues as well or share one type of struggle with social interaction.
Some feel validated in their struggles when the term disability is applied to them, others feel infantalized or insulted by being seen as disabled because of their difference.
Can we at least get to an agreement that premium shops in general instead of a model where you pay for a game once and then have access to all the content is not supportive for people with impulse struggles?
palias look is deceiving 😭 you think its gonna be a cozy easy game to just chll in but you play it and you dont know what your doing or where to find stuff 😭 like the quests lack info or where to go or how to find this
constantly having to go back and forth
No we can’t, because multiple ND friends of mine have joined Palia due to it being free and the lack of monetisation 🥰
I suggest Fortnite, Call of Duty, or any other game with a “Battle Pass” if you’d like to complain about games being exploitative about asking players to pay!
(That said, the one thing about Palia even I won't defend are the load times/crashes. Absolutely shocking that the issue is this bad and this common in a game this developed imo)
I literally came back from a huge hiatus and JUST was able to prove my devotion, and literally was going to just let ||the investigator|| quest go because I definitely did NOT have enough materials to justify completing it when the change happened to it.
My hunting is at 3 because it's so hard to get em, and same with fishing, my biggest accessibility issue is that I literally can't see. 😭😭 My friend did me so dirty getting me hooked on this game. I just can't get enough of the adorable little planters and decorations lol
Idk where to put this so can the people who created Palia make a way to link your palia account to you switch after pressing skip? Pretty please😔🙏
Not sure if you did before, but I'd suggest asking in #🐣│palia-newbies , there might be a workaround or so...
Thanks! Any suggestions on what to ask specifically? I’m pretty new to gaming🥲😅
About if there's a workaround for the linking to Switch after skipping it at the start, I'm sure it's a rather common issue.
Thanks! I appreciate your help <3
hi, CurlySue595 here. my computer crashed and I have been away for a few months. how do I get back in to my already established game?
Might be best to ask in one of the general channels, maybe #🐣│palia-newbies or #🤝│game-help ?
Ok, thank you

has anyone with wrist issues found ways to make things a little more gentle? I’m kinda new to PC gaming in general but I’m seeing I’m not the only one who’s brought up wrist stuff in the past. if anyone has found some low impact solutions/keyblind in-game or just in general….
It's been some years for me since I last had wrist issues in general because of a job I had at that time.
If so called wrist rests for keyboard/mouse haven't helped yet, would you consider playing with controller on PC?
Sorry I don't have any ingame solutions for you
Wrist rests can help. Can try using a controller if a game has the compatibility with it, too.
For palia specifically, I sadly don't have any solutions or recommendations, other than seeing if a controller would work. And the only other thing, that i know isnt helpful but it's what I have to do for myself-- is just take it slow and try to take breaks when needed.
And when running to places, there's a hotkey for Autorun (I think it's the \ key..?), which can help a little.
oh about running, there is an option if you have to press down shift all the time, tab it once you started running or as a general on/off toggle.
You your character will automatically run until you press shift again to jog
I personally discorvered Toggle to sprint very helpful for chappa hunt
Yep, those few things have definitely helped me-- whether it's to help my wrists or my fingers haha!
I'm trying to think if there's anything else i've done to help allievate, but i really do think the main stuff i've had to do is just take it slow and take breaks when needed
I guess depending if warmth or cold helps your pain, you could also use warmed up pads or pads you had in the freezer before as makeshift wrist rest.
But yeah taking breaks is something we may not like but are still important
I do keep my heating pad on the desktop when I know I'm gonna do a lot of jumping. This is where having a desk with a roll-out keyboard shelf is really helpful.
I have a Question, do you think about adding battle pass? I mean it would be so cool cuz u can do cozy hunting or bug catching but you can connectet this to battle pass when u do role quests or hutning or cug catching, fishing u get points for battle pass (it not need to be super battle pass) but think about it, it also get more players to playing. Cuz in my opinion the cost for outfist is big but when u get some clothes in battle pass, and maybe some decoration idk but think about it ♥ Ps: sorry for my english is not good how i want to be
!feedback are you suggesting it to the devs? make sure you're submitting it through the link below if you are. Or are you asking what disabled players think of the possibility of a battle pass in palia?

haii everybody! Someone gave me the suggestion to pop in here to ask the question regarding ideas for accessibility for my cooking plot
id love to make it a place where everyone can join and wouldnt feel overwhelmed or bored…so please let me know any ideas that I can incorporate towards my build
also thanks in advance
The plot/design things I remember being issues for folks were
- animated objects (photosensitivity, overstimulation)
- jukeboxes being on (overstimulation, interferes with rhythm games)
- things being too close/in the way of the camera
But that premium outfits and player behavior were bigger deals (over stimulation, photosensitivity, interference with mini games and camera, fun/messing around/prank type behavior)
i’m going to spoiler the text since this is a very lengthy message and that can be difficult for some folks to read/grok, let me know if you need me to break it up for readability.
||cooking is not a very accessible skill in the first place. i think what things you can do are:||
||- if you post your party in the party channel here (or elsewhere), let people know that they can reach out to you about specific roles if they have difficulty with certain ones so you can ensure they can get a role they are comfortable with (many people have issues with chopping/flipping the frying pan, for example.)||
||- keep cooking stations far apart — i recommend building an outdoor space instead of confining it inside||
||- you can do things like choose a specific rug with a specific color to put underneath each station to denote its role, and cluster the stations so that each role is grouped in the same space to avoid confusion||
||- idk if you can only have one of those plot signs where you can customize the text. if you can have more than one, you could probably utilize those.||
this is not a problem space i’ve devoted much thought to, as i only ever attended a few cooking parties amongst friends. i’ve heard some folks get scared off from them because the environment got toxic (the host freaking out if someone messes up, for example.) so i think just ensuring people know they can ask for accommodations and making sure attendees keep their cool is a really good approach.
the other thing i can think of is to ensure that you as a host have the necessary amounts of all ingredients and time in case someone needs to step away or leave because of external factors (also sometimes there are no-shows!)
Thank u meeks
this helps alot
thank you for bringing it up! it’s not something i’d thought about before so i appreciate you asking
i’ll let you know if i think of anything else.
I also hadn’t thought about it until someone mentioned it🥲my only idea was to try to make sure the plot wasnt too laggy for switch players
but now i kinda know what to incorporate in order to hopefully make fun cooking parties for everyone
i know a bit about accessibility, but im not very familiar with cooking parties
otherwise i might have more suggestions. keeping things not very decorated is also good for switch users! and good job whoever asked you about it
one thing I'd also like to mention, maybe ask people to not "jump" around as much, esp depending on how big the space is. The rapid noises (and visuals) can be overstimulating, esp if people do the "double jump" to toggle the glider!
Some people (like myself) do get restless though, so I'd still say they can walk around- which is where I think like meeks mentioned with the stations being far apart, can help. So people don't feel as clustered/confined.
You could even have a small section that ppl can walk over to look at-- I've noticed/seen some people who are restless, like to 'browse' and explore some areas and sections!
And I second the idea of it being outside, too. Would definitely help with that!
Having the stations colour-coded with rugs is also very very helpful. THe last community/group I was in, who hosted those, did that and it was very helpful for everybody involved!
And like celosia was mentioning, premium outfits can cause quite a lot of overstimulation and photosensitivity. Some are just... busy. I'd probably ask (or make a rule, honestly) to just.. not use outfits with effects like that.
Could even do something after or before the cooking party starts, of people can show them off if they want to? And if it's before the cooking party, then have a wardrobe nearby so people can change back to default outfits or something without effects?
completely agree with the jumping🤣i was once in a party where a person was jumping over everyones stations and i got so distracted and overstimulated! I do love the idea of where people can wander or do something on the side if they for sure get bored
valkorii is such a helper
i second everything they said!
one thing i just remembered from the cooking parties i did join (i have done two, lol) — when one of them ended, people shot fireworks as they were leaving to celebrate. definitely let folks know beforehand that it’ll probably crash a Switch and while you can do it, the Switch players should probably be given time to return to plot before the festivities begin.
Oh, yes. I forgot about fireworks (mainly bc, luckily, in teh cooking parties I was a part of, they didn't use them!). Those can not only crash a switch, but can be overstimulating for some (visually and with the sounds)
It's soo distracting lol! And I'm glad
, it's something that I just realized a lot of ppl liked to do in the past (and im sure still do!). I didn't do it too much, but I loved looking around at least after the cooking party was over 💛
Ik i jump a couple of times at the end to celebrate and then i run away home to sell and then spend
But all good points!!
Thanks guys
Yep! I remember that, and I (personally) feel like that's fine, esp cuz it's at the end and not like.. continuous
(Plus, chances are, people ran off immediately anyways
)
And of course! Happy to help
Oh on the topic of different people having different needs during a cooking party, I remember that I once was at a plot that had a "quieter" area for people who would just stand still and cook for all who get overstimulated quickly
And an area where running and jumping was explicitly allowed for all who get restless.
Personally I haven't seen any toxic behavior so far, but can fully imagine someone to lash out over mistakes that cost people time and ingredients.
Very important to not foster such an environment as host.
Having the time and actually all needed ingredients yourself, should be a given for a host in my opinion. It can always happen that someone doesn't show up or has to go early.
Also good to know that fireworks can make switch players crash. I never use them myself, since I sell them. (I need the money for more furniture and mod kits)
Once you started having parties, you could also say at the beginning and end of a party, that anybody who has had problems with something or wishes to improve, could come to you with it for future parties.
Don't know if this is the right channel, but, while I've heard a lot of people talk about how the amount of storage needs to be increased, I think the main priority should be on choosing how you organize stuff. Like having multiple chests for different types of items. For example, I like putting the items in the lockbox chest I'm either, 1. not selling, or 2. is a furniture item, and 3. I don't want to craft with (duh). But I can't access my furniture items from the build menu when it's in the lockbox chest.
I just like having specific chests for specific items when it comes to organization, and I hope that in a storage update we get something like that.
Yeah, the Jumping along with using tools (especially snowballs and fireworks) and standing in other people are user behaviors I've seen make people leave
There's also the competing needs of quick and regimented parties (I've seen these called cake Olympics where they try to get a record time) vs relaxed parties, so definitely worth mentioning which sort of party you're doing so that people can plan their time and set their expectations.
Related, plan for breaks. A few minutes every XX times so people can stretch, take the dog out, get food or water, run to the bathroom, or whatever
This is one that seems to have a 50/50 split between people who want all in one/universal storage like we have vs people who want disconnected chests like Stardew, so I'd be surprised if they do that big of a change with not guaranteed increase in daily active users
Hey there, I dont have access to post in the trading channel and I'm not sure why? I used to before??
I'm sure you're aware, but if you weren't, furniture doesn't take up space. so it doesn't need to go into lockbox. unless you're sorting them specifically that way.
Yeah, I just wanted to sort my furniture separately
I like the universal solution more, but wish we could have additional small spaces in chests like the decor ones we can find on the map that aren't connected. Preferably where I can actually sort the items my way like we can in the bag.
Re: cooking- If anyone ever needs a helping hand in cooking a few dishes, feel free to ping me! It'd just be me, not an entire party.
I know cooking parties usually expect you to make a ton of stuff in one go, which makes them... not always ideal for everyone
Hi, I don't know if anyone has brought this up yet, but the tool menu is really difficult to navigate for people who only have use of one hand playing on PC. If there were an option to allow the tool menu to be toggled open and shut instead of having to hold R down, it would make the tool menu more accessible for single handed gamers
I'll see how well my friend can use the tool menu as is when I give her the accessible gaming mouse/keypad to map for her games, but not everyone with a disability can afford accessibility gear for daily use, let alone for hobbies like gaming
idk if this will help your friend with their situation but you can remap the r key to another button as you have already stated (middle mouse in this demo) but you can also set binds for each and every tool as well in case your friend does not know that info
Her difficulty is with holding down a button while also moving the trackpad to the tool she needs. That's part of why I recommended adding the option to make the tool menu a toggle instead of a hold and navigate sort of thing
In the same vein, I anticipate her struggling with the more intense cooking recipes if she gets there before I can give her her new mouse
in that case, assigning hot keys for each tool might be easier? then you don't need the wheel at all, but you do need enough reachable keys and have to remember them
Yes - I have most of my tools hotkeyed (not for accessibility needs but for convenience/speed) and it makes a big difference. I don’t love the tool wheel set up!
Is there a way to possibly add reduced clothing movement in the settings? Some of the longer clothes are really pretty but nearly impossible for me to wear because it bothers my eyes quite a bit because the way it flails and bounces around when running and ita a bit overstimulating at times especially with the new run style.
unfortunately not
Respectfully, I think Palia devs/staff would be better suited to answer if a feature can be added or changed.
they’ve given essentially an “answer” before, and it’s… no.
they are unwilling to add a toggle that will turn off outfit effects (the ones that float around characters with premium cosmetics.) that leads me to believe that more basic effects like the ones you’re talking about likely aren’t on the table for changes anytime soon. there is a feedback form you can send this to for an official response though!

The s6 answer on the miscommunication on the status of that toggle #🌟│sixer-tracker message (Though it was in patch notes several months ago and then removed, it does not and has never existed and has not been promised)
And yeah the feedback link is what you want for communication with s6, this channel is player to player chat and help
not sure if its been discussed before, and i KNOW palia's nighttime doesnt actually get that dark, but an equipable lamp (or even just an option to brighten the game at night) would be REALLY helpful. my eyesight is godawful and i especially struggle to see on the bay map at night :(
I feel that struggle also on a homeplot where I have no lamps outside.
On one hand I like foraging during the nights, since a lot of plants are more visible that way with their faint glow, but still there are parts of the map, where I really wish for a portable light source of any kind.
hey it's a few days later, but I finally found the cooking plot again, where I saw a couple of low sensory cooking booths and asked for permission to take some screenshots for you.
The owner themselves is autistic and sometimes uses these booths for themselves at a party.
The closed part is towards the other party members, while the open part is looking at the landscape of the plot.
And of course no roof for camera issues
amazing thank you! do you by chance remember how many cooking booths they had? I was planning on doing 4 but im unsure if I should do more or not
the description of the cooking party said
- 4 low sensory input kitchens ,
- 2 run around and fish stations if you need to do something while cooking.
Thank you!!
you're welcome. Glad I could help a little to spread this idea
i was making my plot out of fish tanks and the unknownable expanse landscape so I know how important it would be to have the low sensory kitchens!
is that the one where you kind of float in space and have no real floor your can see?
yea! i plan on making a floor for sure and little booths for the low sensory tho
but if it doesnt work for people im open to changing the landscape anyways
yeah floor is a good idea for that one.
I visited one plot like this and omg I felt like my falling phobia was active all the time although I knew that a) it's only a game and b) I wasn't going to fall, because there is an invisible floor for my character to walk on
yea i had a friend help me brain storm ideas regarding on how i wanted to lay out the stations and we talked about carpets and pavers
Even when I jump off cliffs in the game I barely can let myself fall without the glider, although I know there is 0 fall damage
i love the plot but i can def see the issues so hopefully i can make it a way where there is still the landscape floor but also make sure people dont get more phobias
would love to visit at some point, so I can report back about the floor 😉
yess ill add u in game if thats ok! im usually working on it so if u see me in the house plot im probs in there banging my head
sure, I know the feeling. working on my plot a lot
!feedback definitely send that one to s6 - it'd be especially helpful with the way lighting looks in the elderwood

I am having an issue adding an expansion to my home. There is nothing in the way on the outside. I've moved furniture on that side of the house and still having issues. Is there any common furniture or shelving glitch I may try next?
Sorry I think this is the wrong section, I am going to post this in a different category
is anyone here epileptic
meeee
are your seizures relatively well-controlled? Mine are, but I had one while playing today, and I’m wondering if it’s related to the visuals. It’s such a gorgeous game but there’s a lot going on. I turned some of the motion stuff down, but besides that, I don’t know if there’s anything I can do. Id hate to stop playing, but if that really was the trigger, I think that’s the best option.
Any suggestions (from anyone!) on graphics adjustments they’ve found helpful for reducing nausea or vertigo? I imagine they’d be similarly helpful for me. Or at least I’d like to try haha
there's a google sheet in the pins here that might help some? but there's a lot of flashes and animations that can't be mitigated unfortunately
for the most part yes, i also have to turn the motion stuff down. i keep it in a window and try to keep the in game movement to a minimum , like only so much decorating and whatever. but like celosia said, theres just a lot of flashes that cant be touched right now . i just try my best to take care of myself like normal
bright room instead of dark helps a lot
oh, I’ll have to check that out, thank you for letting me know. sounds like a great resource.
it's a bit older so it doesn't have all the current settings - you'll probably want to uncheck all these to reduce animation and extra objects on screen too
and i hate to say it, but if you're still playing on the 13th hold off on visiting the elderwood until folks have reported back cuz it's got the bounce pads with the white flash and there are a lot of new visuals
the decorating and the glitching (like, a sernuk getting stuck in a hill) seem to be the worst for me. I was bug-catching today but had mostly been hunting. And it was in Bahari Bay (last thing I remember is muujin by the lighthouse) which feels way more “busy” anyways
my chat box flickers like crazy when there are new messages, and the game flickers when I have menus open or it's loading
I have all the motion sensitivity settings turned down and turned down graphics a ton, none of that changed it so it seems like flickering is just part of the game. I try to close my eyes when it's loading zones and minimize any time in menus
the chat box flicker is a bug it's been fixed.. two or three times? but always comes back. streamer mode will turn chat off, but then you don't have chat so it's not a solution just a work around
That chat box is horrible, here... Occasionally, I've hidden chat with Streamer mode, that kind of helps but hiding chat isn't that great in a multiplayer game that at least somewhat encourages people playing together...
EDIT: I probably should put a disclaimer that I don't have experience with epilepsy, so not sure how much of an impact that would/could actually be.
yeah that's miserable
the fact that dice rolling emotes can't be hidden even with blocking someone definitely doesn't help with motion sickness too :/
I feel so bad for my party member as it happened, we’ve never talked about anything besides the game so they have no idea what happened. They asked “ARE YOU OKAY” and told me I was spamming smoke bombs until I was sent to lobby :(
D:
thanks for the disclaimer! I do appreciate any and all strategies though, I think it’s something I’ll have to play around with. and hopefully not have problems with again. I feel like chicken-fried
I have visual snow syndrome so I don't get seizures, it's other weird symptoms and triggers but there are overlapping triggers definitely
:’( good idea, you’re probably right.
I hope they add more accessibility options, like being able to turn off outfit animation visuals on other players
and FIREWORKS
oh god do not go to the maji market
there are firework flashes that make me instantly almost vomit
Would love that, not aware of any announcements that they would do that actually. They mentionend a toggle for outfits once, I think, but later said that was a completely wrong info and there wasn't any plan to actually implement that, or something along those lines at least.
sorry to hear it :-( I’m sure the effects and accessibility options only get better with time, but yeah, I imagine new stuff is gonna throw a wrench in that for at least a little while :/ I’m pretty new so I haven’t been around for any big content drops, so idk how glitchy they are to start. going by celosia’s comment, pretty glitchy.
yeah the outfits aren't as bad for me as the fireworks (and firework arrows)
the fireworks at maji market are absolutely brutal
I have taken great care to almost entirely avoid fireworks thus far 🙏 which is heartbreaking because Najuma is my favorite character 😂 but being able to modify the things that are literally designed to flash would be a great feature.
yeah like a photosensitivity button and then it gets rid of fireworks and dispel arrow flashes and bug bomb flashes and shiny animated outfits
this the first major content drop so we don't actually know how it will go - based on smaller ones, it'll be a mess for the first 12-48 hours and then a little rough for a week. Also, they've put off addressing like 90% of the accessibility concerns for years (yes, years. some issues have been there since alpha 1)
those GD wings everyone has
we really thought they were working on an outfit effects toggle, but sadly not (yet?) #🌟│sixer-tracker message
unfortunately I don't know of any games that ever make changes to accessibility things once the game has already been made so yeah that kinda does track :c really disappointing to hear they haven't wanted to make it safer 😕
it also limits the games potential growth and profitability which isn't good for the health or future of the game generally by limiting the total potential player base
er
sorry I don't quite follow, you mean the lack of fixing accessibility issues is limiting?
if a game cannot be played by a chunk of people, those people won't spend money on it
that's true, I ....usually friends will tell me that games don't want to spend money on something complicated and expensive that will impact a very tiny (?) number of people
everyone with glasses, light colored eyes, arthritis, mobility issues, flexibility issues, headaches, migraines, epilepsy, rhythm issues, and on, and on - it's a good chunk of people especially for a cozy game
I’m sure all disabilities feel like a niche issue at times but I do feel like the gaming community in general should be aware of this, if not just for the sake of how many people get motion sickness and vertigo and stuff
capitalist thinking at it's best sadly.
I came to kind of expect big companies to act like that. But it still is hard to accept and swallow when a game / or company tries to shine through their inclusivity.... while literally not working on accesability options.
since I don't get seizures I tend to get kinda ignored when I try to talk about photosensitivity issues and open tickets and stuff with different games too >.<
and there's the curb cut effect - accessibility accommodations help more than the intended audience
really appreciated that this is getting a mention! a rising tide lifts all ships 🥲
accessibility settings for physical accommodation, translation & localization, difficulty settings & alternate mechanics, and resource optimization help make sure you're not missing out on half the world with your product
what I would really love is if people that don't have photosensitivity actually ask for the settings too so it's just just a couple voices
I know exactly what you mean. I will forever be rubbed the wrong way when I see the loading screen that says “Palia is everyone’s home” from now on
...I didn't know it said that because I have to close my eyes when it's loading LOL
at it's most self defeating actually - there is a short term cost which means the period, quarter, half, or year may not be as profitable but the long term Daily Active Users, Conversions, and Revenue is higher when your potential customer base is larger
irony and culturally engrained ableism at its finest right there
ty I tried my best
I was kind of wishing to be able to turn off some of the animated costumes, so I don't always have to see a pretty product that I refuse to pay such prizes for.
So yeah ... totally different reason for me, but I'm with you all the way. I do love the fireworks animation, but I would love it more when ALL people can enjoy the game and not just those, who can deal with fireworks
also, there's the avoiding legal expenses bit too with accessibility settings - we know a few players have been sent to the hospital and the game doesn't even have a proper flash warning
jesus that's awful
oh right the plot design that people can purchase, the purple outer space one
....don't go there if you have photophobia
the colour gives me migraines
Christ. And just to confirm, you know that it’s as a result of motion stuff? I’m still waiting to see if i should get a CT scan. I had no idea what happened at first, there was just a dent a in the wall and I felt a little delirious. I only put the pieces together when the welt started to show up on my head and it started throbbing :/
sorry to forget to use the reply function with slow mode in place—i meant my previous message to be a reply to you
it really feels ironic, doesn't it?
Probably they only think about inclusion of queer identities and skin tones.
But for me inclusivity is so much more and I know that probably nobody could ever be versed in every field. Which means it needs a team of people from all different kinds of live. I mean a gay man might not know much about what a trans person might need and someone who is deaf has definitely different needs than someone who is partially blind.
But it irks me to no end, when voices from the community came to the dev team with ideas and then they got ghosted as I understood it...
don't remember if it was outfits or some other flashing bit (there's been a few - fireworks, hot pot, snowballs, bug bombs, loading screens, bouncy mushroom pads, pop a chapaa, prize wheels, watering complete animation)
Oh no, best of luck that you won't have a bad injury from it.
oh god the bouncy mushrooms are rough yeah
for motion sickness and photophobia
which is sad cuz they're really cute idea
and they're in elderwood which has vertical elements
I was so confused for a sec, I’m like “literally everyone is purple.” I think my brain hasn’t turned back on yet lmao
I have been dreading the day they become necessarily incorporated
And thank you very much 🩷
I have been on such a plot and yes the view was nice, but I constantly felt like falling because it also has invisible floor and you just stand in space... That also made me a bit sick
(am I not allowed to vomit react?)
be nice if you could filter out that landscape in home tours instead of finding out when you're already on it
possibly not - it gets used for harassment, like saying someone is gross
(it can also make people queasy seeing it)
ah yeah i have seen that before now that you mention it :/
oh gosh how often have I wished for an option to turn off the sounds of someone vomiting in a game, cause it always causes me to get close to vomit myself
yeah at night time a lot of scenery is purple, the northern lights plot is really rough too but the space one is the worst for me
the lighting is what caused the wicked migraine, it was at a cooking event and I had to leave it
the host was sweet enough to swap plots as soon as they knew why I'd left ;-;
(on that note, i do have autoplay turned off on discord for gifs and reacts, and i also have nitro, so pls lmk if one of my reacts itself is a problem)
just the flow-glow on its own can be a lot imo
I do too but ty!
dont get me started on the party/rave blob animated emojis...
i hate that epilepsy gets made fun of and not taken very seriously bc its taken so much joy from me
@final urchin sorry for pinging you in the middle of an ongoing conversation here, but I remember you said thinking about using that space plot for kitchen parties.
I think the conversation is a really good indicator how to make your party more inclusive
#♿│accessibility-discussions message
for photosensitivity I find like, minimizing the amount of space the trigger takes up in my field of view can help
and turning down contrast and brightness on my monitor and graphics settings
and having other lights on in the room
sorry to hear it June :(
I know it's not as bad but I feel the same with the migraines and neuro stuff I get too >.<
if u want I have ....a lot of recommendations for cooking parties lol
I appreciate your pointing it out and that someone wants to make accessible ones!
yeah that’s exactly what i mean by so many—if not all—disabilities feeling like a niche issue at times. i didn’t even used to have tonic clonic, but im sure you know how it goes, more breakthroughs -> more severity… :/ i also am so frustrated about it. this is gonna be my third pair of glasses in the past year if the optical shop can’t fix them, and i don’t really want to attempt driving for a few days, at least, and im in a rural area…im sure these are all complaints that you can relate to in one way or another. not sorry for venting a bit, i dont know of anyone with epilepsy in my IRL so im really appreciating this convo with you, and with everyone, as a whole. i feel really supported, which is rare, because i live alone and im often so confused afterward…
edit: sorry that was longer than intended, TLDR i agree and it sux :(
I think both Jas as well as I will greatly appreciate your input on the topic 💜
This is where it started. #♿│accessibility-discussions message
dont worry , theres no need to apologize <3
(sorry I can’t contribute on cooking parties, never been, but appreciate very much that people are willing to ask these questions and take these efforts)
In my experience it's pretty much the same for a lot of people who are seen as a minority, which is why it is so important to support each other's voices against the masses 💜
So please if I'm wrong about something or say/do something insensitve, please call me out on it. I need to learn more to be an ally for groups I'm not part of but that I wish to support
no worries thank u for pinging me! i decided to not use the plot the other day cuz of that
feel free to DM me, I can mostly only mention things from the perspective of my own accessibility needs of course but I do hope I can help!
As much as I would have loved the cool effect and the design I was going for to host parties, the last thing I wanna do would be giving players a hard time to enjoy themselves
awe bless
i want my cooking parties to be a place where everyone can enjoy
and if that means switching plots or finding ways to make it accessible I dont mind
yeah a lot of cooking parties are very visually overwhelming, extremely beautiful but yeah
I've been wanting to design a plot for them but I don't want to be the one actually running the event lol
see the thing is...my build is already made out of a bunch of fish tanks
I dont mind switching a landscape if it meant that I wouldnt have to take apart my hours of fish walls
O.O
do you have more than one plot tho? cuz you could have a totally different design on a separate plot and keep the tanks on the other
I know I wanted to design a cooking plot even if it was just an example how people can do one that is more inclusive. Even if I would never really use it to host
But then I got kind of scared I would badly mess it up and give the wrong ideas about accessability.
So I like to learn everything that helps
I have i think 3 other landscapes besides the defaulted one so again I dont mind switching
again things like flash problems, fear of falling etc. are things I wouldnt wants someone to go thru just to make extra gold
yes I do have extra plots
If you don’t mind me saying so, I think you’re putting too much pressure on yourself. I probably sound like a broken record, but everyone has different needs and unfortunately, sometimes they’re conflicting. I can’t speak for everyone, but personally, I feel that just having that frame of mind already goes a long way.
to be honest if i wasnt gonna use the purple landscape my next one wouldve been the beach one XD...I just did the purple one cuz it had a huge fishing pond for anyone who wouldve gotten bored with cooking
everyone starts somewhere, and it is physically impossible to make a single product that will be entirely accessible to every person
so technically yes, not making something at all is the most accessible ...but it's also like
nothing ventured, nothing gained c:
fern and I said the same energy at the same time lol high fives
they said it more sweetly tho and they're right
I don't mind and I would say the same thing to anyone else but myself
And yes navigating conflicting needs will be even more difficult.
I see this in the minority groups I do belong to often enough that it can be hard.
What helps one person (and feels good and validating) may leave a bad taste in another persons mouth. I try to imagine it's at least a bit similar with different disabilities or neurodivergent needs colliding.
(laugh/cry react because I can definitely relate to that first part. not trying to trivialize anything!)
A friend of mine reminded me that I cant cater to everyone…which is true! (I can be both a perfectionist and a people pleaser
) Its hard to cater and make sure everything runs smoothly or make sure everything we can do is accessible…but to me i dont think its a big deal if the situation is a small thing like plot changing, asking for no fireworks for switch players or switching outfits if possible
But thats just my opinion
and i like making sure people are able to play the game
cuz at the end of the day we are just here for a good time
((I gotta afk for a lil bit but I'll try to check back in soonish! such good convo
))
I appreciate all the feedback i have been getting to make sure my cooking plot is grewt
plus its given me a chance to learn about the game that honestly never made me think too deeply about
✨ competing access needs ✨
I know. It's so common for me to have more sympathy and empathy for others and then being your own harshest critic 🫠
in general this community is super helpful, and by extension, accommodating, compared to a lot of gaming spaces I’ve been in. which is part of why it surprises me that the dev team has been so unresponsive. disappointing :/
I have to admit I'm also positively surprised by the community on a great scale in this discord.
Defintely a different vibe when you look in the steam discussions.
Which proves again that the creator (team) of something doesn't have to be really great for a great community to form around it.
(cries in too many beloved media who's authors/creators turned out very problematic but who's fandoms are still great)
reddit vs discord vs twitter vs steam vs in game vs a different day/sever in game - the community is varied, but mostly good
imma have to do more fishing to make another wall for the plot now that i changed it lmao
my brain is probably still messed up, so take it with a grain of salt, but this convo has literally made me cry (in an appreciative way). I think I’m gonna try to take another nap and don’t wanna concern anyone like I did my party member by not saying goodbye lol. Thank you all very much. Please feel free to reach out or send friend requests or whatever pleasantries.
take care
hope you recover quickly and can find ways to keep enjoying the game in a way that is safe for you 💜
Good nap, and it's not your fault if people are concerned. Take care!
get some much needed recovery fern! So you can enjoy the game in ways we all do!
(haven't gotten caught up on chat but saw this and sent you friend req on here)
and am happy to add in game too!
I just unlocked multiple plots and get debilitating decision paralysis so I think at least one of them is gonna be a gentle sensory cooking plot
was just pondering even having like, individual little cubicles for cooking stations but that might be challenging for hosting and seeing if anyone is having difficulties or afking
maybe as a host you could have a station higher up, being able to look into these spaces then?
I will need to find someone to actually do the hosting though lol
huh that might work
i was thinking of adding like, ceilings so the sky lighting would be minimized and then diffuse lighting inside
but will see, I finally have ideas and goals to play around with \o/
on this topic I share the screenshots I was allowed to take from someone else's plot
#♿│accessibility-discussions message
the owner emphasized that the low sensory booths have no roofs for the camera
(I assume to avoid any glitchy/flashing things)
Oh since I'm doing some home tours last minute for this week:
What is about animated wallpapers. Are they tolerable for you? Do you wish there was a warning (in home tours board or maybe a sign on the property made by the player) about animated wallpapers in a room?
I personally find animated wallpapers can be kinda disorienting and some make me a bit motion sick, so imo probably best to avoid them right next to where players would be cooking
anything moving around or light sources within field of vision can be distracting to varying degrees for folks
I personally absolutely can't stand it when animated outfits are in my field of view when I'm at a cooking party lol
that's a neurodivergent thing for me, not as much the photosensitivity but some are bad for that too
got it
I was thinking about when I put my main plot on tours again... I have... two rooms with moving wallpapers and I was thinking about swapping them out or at least put up a sign with a warning?
not sure, I mean
as far as neurological issues go, the moving wallpapers ive seen so far have been way less of a concern than other items
if you wanted you could place a sign just at the entrance saying there are some moving wallpapers on the plot in case anyone has sensitivity to them
but if people are doing tours they've definitely already been exposed to way more overwhelming things and will be aware they exist and are popular
tldr it's your call really, and it's your plot. if you're not actively hosting people that will be needing to stare at something, I don't think it's necessary to worry about it too heavily.
imo more significant things would be extreme contrast/surprise bouncy mushrooms/tons of animated things or lights all over or blue/purple lights
I have the pink moving trees one in the upstairs level indoors and
thanks for your opinion on it. I probably grind together more tickets for a sign to warn people about the showroom which is full of the aquariums + the ocean wallpaper behind them. So a lot of movement going on in that room
(I may have overdid it with Einar's room that has the animated ocean wallpaper on all 4 walls + floor 😅 )
this may be random but um does anyone know what decor limit a plot can get to before switch players have a hard time loading?
I opted for a warning sign on my plot
i love this!
been sleeping all day/night/morning and didn’t feel quite so battered when I woke up, so I went and applied the motion settings that were suggested 😂 idk how much I’ll do in-game tonight that tests them, but just organizing my inventory at home has been no issue <3 really grateful for the community here.
Will they ever make the quest markers and where you need to go any easier
!feedback They have improved them at least once (making the compass glow when you're within the search area), so maybe. If you have a specific need, definitely make sure you send in the feedback to the devs

With patch notes coming Monday, we'll have a whole day to check them over for potential impact before anyone gets in the game
Are there any deaf gamers here?
And the graphics are kind of dark. It's hard to find a color to decorate my house in that's comfortable on the eyes.
I don't know if there any deaf gamers around.
For the graphics you may want to try out changing the Bloom effect?
So far I tried the gamma. It made things brighter but a little blurrier
The calibration button in Palia's setting takes you to a page where you can choose different filters, one of those might help?
I'm playing on the switch
Not deaf but generally playing without sound since sound easily gets overwhelming for me. Certainly not an expert, and I'm sure actually deaf players are way better helping with issues. But feel free to ping me if you want my thoughts on something anyways.
I am semi-fluent in ASL but not deaf myself </3
I (legally blind player) would love the bugs to leave more of a trail (sparkly or glow aura might help) or have a more directional sound (easier to track) when they fly or scuttle away from me so I can actually bug hunt and finish the bundles please! I often find gatherable items based off the sounds and that is wonderful!
!feedback If you haven’t already, you can submit that idea to S6 directly. I don’t know if their new community manager [S6]Lacie reads this server.

patch notes time! to hold us over for 26 hours of downtime #📢│palia-status message
i'll do highlights like I usually do - there will almost certainly be some spoilers in the name of being prepared
Looks like we might get workarounds for being bad at a specific skill, nice! I guess that counts as accessibility?
oh boy there's a lot of changes and they seem mixed, i'm slow but i'll get most of it typed up in the next 20ish minutes
Technically yeah, but it still is unfortunate because i'm assuming it'll be locked for those who aren't caught up with quests. Like Temple of Gales stuff, etc. :(
getting lengthy so omitting specific acquisition details and splitting into parts
Also, appreciate you celosia
Assuming what will be locked? 🩷
""Once players complete the “Something Wicked” quest, Subira will allow you to purchase some grab bags of items from the Elderwood. These are perfect options if you want to finish your Elderwood collection but maybe don’t enjoy a given skill.""
This!
Since it mentions a quest, and they also mentioned that if you're not caught up, you won't be able to do Elderwood main story quests.
I've read the patch notes, and I can't wait to see what celosia Luna thinks. I'm not sure I saw a bunch of qol things? I could be just word blind after all of that tho😅

- Dowsing rod updated to track new rare, epic, and legendary items in Elderwood
- New forage mechanic FALLING FORAGE - shoot or chop trees to get the items, Honey on bine trees in bahari bay and elderwood, kopaa buts in elderwood
Oh yeah! Well.. I guess it's fair tho? Please read this with a smile and compassion, I'm having a week, and my English is taking the hit I think 😅
But what I read is that there's a lot one can do, and get access to in the new expansion without much game progress. But some things will only be available for x-amount of progress? I think that's fair, that some things require certain amount of completion of the game? (Don't get me wrong, I've had to have my friend or husband do things or missions for me in games because I'm physically unable to, so I get the frustration 🩷)
I can't do temple of gales because of my disability and crippling phobia, and I'm sure others are also in the same boat. So it's just unfortunate that something that-- again, I do think is a good step in the right direction-- is being added to help with some accessibility, it's still locked for me (and potentially others).
I do want to say that I can be of help, but my one ear that works says I can't 🤣
Totally get it! I had to have my friend to that temple for me, as every attempt ended with me on the sofa with a bucket.
But I do think that there's going to be difficult to cater to everyone, and specifically us with different disabilities. We are such a diverse population with so very diverse issues and (what's the word, things we can't do? Limitations?)
That doesn't mean that I don't think they can do so much more specifically for the more common limitations (?) like vertigo, hearing, sight, etc issues. They have a long way to go. 🩷
Again, i hope this doesn't come off as snarky, not at all my intention!
I admittedly am not sure how to respond, because I'm worried I'll type stuff that seems like, "Word salad"
,
But I will at least say, and I mean this genuinely and not to come off as snarky either-- I haven't, nor will I ever, think they will cater things to everyone, esp when some disabilities are specific. I know some of my issues is very niche, and I made sure to let them know in that regard.
I've always mentioned that even if it's something I can't play, I just want the game to be cosy and okay to play again for those who can't, that had this game as a comfort.
That said, I still think some stuff, esp when it is QoL and could potentially help with accessibility, shouldn't be locked in this kind of way. It just sucks and feels like ... a step forward but 2 steps back, if that makes sense? I mean, I do get it to some degree (since it's collection purposes), but it still feels like it's locking people out.
I just hope it gets addressed (accessibility as a whole) and improved on in the future. Like you said, they have a long way to go in general.
Patch notes for 0.191 (elderwood as of 8:02 am pt may 12th) - Part 4 https://palia.com/news/patch-191
- Hunting
- New Creatures
- OGOPUU - 3 types each with an occasional drop of their scales, spit sticky slime to slow you down, high HP (fine arrows & party recommended), hunters horn for tier 3(Waveback Ogopuu), Meat & skin from all types (meat is fish for cooking), rare plush for each
- SHMOLE - live in networks of holes and function like "multiplayer version of whack-a-mole", will wait for solo players to a degree, 3 types, tier 3 tracked with horn, drop mushroomes, spores, plushies
- Balance changes
- Creatures can see and hear you less - so they don't run away as much
- Lethargy (aka Slow down) arrows - longer durration, lower effect, lower damage, tier 3 no longer removes the effect
- Slowed down all sernuks & reduced elder sernuk(tier 2) health
- New Creatures
- Insect Catching
- new insects to collect in Elderwood, buzzy jar updated to track the rare, epic, and legendary ones
- 3 rockhoppers, 3 batterfly, 2 beetles, 2 piksii
- Fishing
- 20 New fish to catch in Elderwood, recommend palium tools and every buff
- Catch rate changes at a systemic level - highlights of that mean night sky bundle fish are more likelly, makeshift chests more likely without bait and less likely with, bait works more like expected (common reduces, worm increase uncommon, glow increases epic)
- Exceptions - sushie recipe more common; voidray, unicorn fish, and ancient fish more likely; storymray, hypnotic moray, enchanted pupfish less likelly
- Fishing changes were to make it easier and better on the backend
I see we have the same issue, I also don't really know how to respond or continue in these types of conversations (but I seem to put myself in them regularly anyway) because it's so easy to end up with just making word salad as you said, or just word something in a way that seems unhelpful, snarky, mean etc, without intending to.
And I wholeheartedly agree with everything you just said! Truly!
I just wanted to say something, as there have been previous discussions where it seems like(could also be just bad wording) some people think they will be able to cater to everyone, and that's an impossible task:p
But again, I agree with everything you said! 🙌🩷
You're fine! I'm honestly always more than happy to have these discussions. Normally, I have them in palia-discussions, but hey, can change it up sometimes
I've been gone from this discord for a while, and before that rarely ventured outside this channel. This one feels safer, less chance of drama 😅🩷
Completely fair! I am usually the one who talks about accessibility when I can in other places, just so it's seen and acknowledged more
, can probably ask celosia, since they do the same.

Bonjour!

Holy patch notes batman, that was a long one. On to the dev update next, but first
Patch notes tl;dr New map with new things in every category (as expected), new fast travel function, new mechanics - some improve accessibility but are progress locked, all skills have changes to them, early game continues to be refined, NPC schedules updated
appreciate you surfacing things like this! server is chatty with downtime and patch notes, plus many can't keep up on a "slow" day
Always/of course! I always do my best to look for these things when I can
And I appreciate you breaking down the patch notes for everyone here, too!
Okay tanks
oh no my dev update summary got automoderated
ah, embeded links seem to be the cause cuz i was going back to add them tot he patch note updates too and that caused it to be auto moderated too. I get that
Heads up: markup text like [Text](link) is blocked for safety reasons. It's why EinarBot is acting up.
it's an automatic add by discord unfortunately, if you have any text selected when you past a link it creates an embed even if you intend to replace it
Patch notes for 0.191 (elderwood as of 8:02 am pt may 12th) - Part 7 https://palia.com/news/patch-191
Top Bug Fixes
(only a selection of their partial list, some verbatim and some summarized)
- Fixed disappearing creatures
- Fixed underground travel crashes
- Resolved an issue where the Pinned Quest UI would overflow onto the action bar
- Resolved an issue where a user could get stuck in the “Into the Fire” quest
- Fixed an issue where resource trackers could be heard everywhere on the map regardless of if the player was in sight
Top known issues
(selected & some summarized)
- New
- Emote wheels reset
- Some new achievements/accomplishments not working
- “Enable Own Overhead Name” button doesn't update until server switch
- Holding the Inspect Garden button while entering Placement Mode can cause the UI to stay stuck
- “Starting” and “Required” Ingredients headers don’t currently show their tooltips in the cooking menu.
- On Xbox/PS5, the “Request Item” button can overlap with the “back” and “select” button
- Other issues
- The flipping mechanic in the cooking minigame could become stuck in a looped animation, preventing progression.
- Some players could experience unintentional overlap between the emoji menu and emojis used in chat.
**Dev update - Broadening Our Store with Care, and our first Free Pet! 5/12/2025 https://palia.com/news/broadening-store-with-care **
- This is a revision/update to this post by Wizard Crab https://palia.com/news/palia-business-model
- TL;DR (but we highly encourage the full read!)
- Palia will be free-to-play
- Palia will monetize cosmetic items
- Palia will not monetize things you earn through gameplay
- You won’t need to buy loot boxes or get content through a rotating store
- We commit to being open and honest in communicating decisions or changes we make in this space
- TL;DR (but we highly encourage the full read!)
- Premium items may now have "light-utility" and not be purely cosmetic
- Some versions of premium items may now be earnable in game - slow cautious implementation of this
- Want to support and get support from every kind of player, so hope this approach will allow that
- This approach is also intended to allow bigger updates (? assuming that's referring to light-utility things like the courier pet?)
- Courier pet is premium exclusive ONLY for 0.191, in 0.192 there will be a fully earnable pet with courier pet functinality.
- How to earn not disclosed
- earn method is part of Elderwood quest line, so prgoress gated
I'm not certain if it was mentioned before, but they made some cooking stuff available through the "wrong" skill:
- Ogupuu meat (Hunting) can be used as fish while cooking. Ogupuus unfortunately are the ones that attack you so probably still hard if your issue with fishing is tied to speed.
- Elder Clam Mushrooms (Foraging) count as meat for cooking.
- Staircase Mushrooms (Foraging) can be used to create Muskin which is like leather, might be possible to replace it with that in the game.
yeah that's in the hunting and foraging sections which is ... part 3 #♿│accessibility-discussions message and part 4 #♿│accessibility-discussions message of the summary/highlight/points-of-interest (there was so much!), but we're definitely going to be bringing up different bits constantly over and over for at least the next week
in the game play video is sounded like the mushroom "meat" was from the shmole and there was some derision at it being the vegan option for red meats, but this (getting it from foraging) is much more in line with that
Thanks!
added clarification for courier pets - the current understanding (which does ring true on a second read) from #💬│palia-discussions is that 4 slots are unlockable and 4 slots are only available in the Founder's Pack - so the free pet and other pets will only have 4 inventory slots at all, to get to 8 total slots requires the purchase of the Founder's Pack specifically (current cost unknown, but it will be less than the 3,400 Coin bundle)

""i have a whole design doc of things i want to improve with fire and air temples specifically, including trying to incorporate the skip functionality we added to prologue part 2, and dropping the amt of eggs we ask for, and all sorts of things to get around the platforming requirements. there is a questline being released someone soon as well that represents how we want to do temple-style quests going forward (and it ISNT locked behind msq!). it's full of puzzles but no platforming required.""
if you want to see the infection effects, there's a gif in the patch notes - which i suppose is also an animation warning for the patch notes. I'll put it here too behind a spoiler
if you want to feel out the elderwood a little more via images like the above, then the links here #📢│community-news message are a good option
storymray, is now less likelly ??? LESS OMG I am never finishing that bundle!
NOOOO
Apparently, the fee pet for now is still locked behind the temple quests https://discord.com/channels/@me/809886640285417480/1371573967512404079
And not available to earn until the next patch
because of my disability, i need the mouse sensitivity turned way down for aiming (ex. bug catching, hunting), but i like the sensitivity turned up when just running around, for a while i have noticed that the separate aim sensitivity slider in settings does not work for me.
I'm seeing that Elderwood stuff is locked behind temples?
Trying to read as much as I can but seems the cool stuff (like flow trees for home plot previously... sigh) needs completion of temple of the gales to get.
And I never could complete the Gales temple due to nausea/migraine triggers
there were a few quests that i couldn't do because of accessibility issues. i was concerned about my ability to access elderwood quests, but as far as i can tell you only need to have certain quests completed, not the bundles. check to see if any quests you haven't been able to complete are listed.
well they already said they need the temple of gales completed but can't complete it.
(I think it was the one with flying around a lot and plattforming. I have read that some players have issues completing this because of a varitey of reasons)
iirc, temple of the gales is the one with the updrafts and downdrafts you have to glide into to get from island to island? i was unable to complete that one because of lack of coordination. game-breaking if i have to complete everything except bundles to access the new content.
from my understanding, it was just specific quests that needed to be completed (not the whole temple). but now that you mention it, i don't think there is a quest called "Temple of the Gales," so maybe that is what the patch notes meant?
https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Vault_of_the_Gales_(Quest)
You have to solve the temple of gales as a whole for this
And since this is a requirement for Elderwoods main story, some players will be locked out of it 😦
well, that's not cool. i actually considered giving my login to a trusted friend so they could do the platforming i can't do for me. decided against it since i wasn't really missing out on anything other than achievements. well, 🤷🏻
so i guess i was excited about the elderwood update for nothing?
Some of it is, yes, but you can still access the zone. you just can't do a majority of the quests there
You can still enter the Elderwoods, just not do the quests there, I think...
And going to repost this, which is something that Vega (who is part of the dev team) said yesterday in regards to temples:
""i have a whole design doc of things i want to improve with fire and air temples specifically, including trying to incorporate the skip functionality we added to prologue part 2, and dropping the amt of eggs we ask for, and all sorts of things to get around the platforming requirements. there is a questline being released someone soon as well that represents how we want to do temple-style quests going forward (and it ISNT locked behind msq!). it's full of puzzles but no platforming required.""
A skip option for these types of situations would be incredible.
Dang.
would be amazing for both disabled players as well as abled new players who might wanna skip it fast, to get to the elderwood main story quests and maybe wanna do the temple at a later time
-
The elderwood should be available immediately for everyone
-
Starting chapter 1 requires finishing the prologue which does mean the temples but not the bundles (fish for bundles have been made more common with their bait though). The required quests are
'Vault of the Waves’
‘Vault of the Flames’
‘Vault of the Gales’
‘Vault of the Roots’
‘Troubled Waters’
‘Into the Fire’
‘Up in the Air’
‘Rooted In Place’ -
The free pet and courier functionality for other pets is part of the Elderwood progression (taking this to mean mainstory quests)
- Early access and an additional 4 slots (for 8 total after the quest too) is available by purchasing the founders pack
-
Most of the new things to help with the area are also part of the mainstory quest line
An index of my attempt to summarize yesterday's posts with an eyebrow accessibility and changes in gameplay, it's A LOT and yet still shorter than the patch notes + store/monetization strategy post.
The #🌟│sixer-tracker had a lot of additions yesterday, so definitely worth checking out - the tldr is they're working on more bugs fixes than usual for the next patch 0.192 (white screen flash on zone change, fishing node sound, and more) and looking at more things that may be in that or later patches like a client side toggle for outfit VFX (not 100% it'll turn off everything everyone wants, but a step or two in the right direction)
#📢│community-news has links to artist pages, a couple have Elderwood images including various images in day time and night time if you want to get a rough feel for the lighting
why is it coming out on the ps5 but not the ps4?
Good question for the team when they're online, maybe in #💬│palia-discussions - I know it's been asked a few times and players have given the "it's standard to only develop for current gen" answer but I'm not sure the devs did.
Most of the server is player to player, like this one for disability/accessibility discussion, so you just have hope that you're around when the devs are to ask - they're pretty open/responsive when they are though
Hmm - white screen flash on zone/etc. change has been going on for well over a year and has not been fixed though they say they are working on it - and my assumptions that it was not for EW has been confirmed by you the ppl - note am just updating today at 26%
we'll Umm see "ha ha" when im finally updated and in. have not been out here for a while i kinda ended/quit being here when certain comrades got removed or left in the tech section
in and first note is that if you're caught up on the main story, you get an immediate cut scene on loading
no settings changes jumping out at me and keybindings did not reset
they mentioned the white screen via loading screens will be fixed in 0.192.
Ya just was confirmed on load not this update - but who really knows about the next though it was stated - they have fibbed to us b4
some color change on the action bar
i knew it wasn't this update because appy told me it was 0.192 after they said "they weren't sure". (because they then proceeded to ask the team if it was for EW release or next one).
oh that's interesting
funguy's do have a bouncy flash but it's beige & blue instead of white and a bit smaller than the bouncy pad
..they have a bouncy flash?
no, it's much better. still a flash but lower contrast and smaller
definitely. maybe they are trying that to see how that is compared to the mushrooms...?
That's similar to what Nikki has. minus the blue particle effect
more of the inventory/action bar color changes and peep that new tab (lots of minor polishing in the ui) - there's an elderwood guide to highlight the map, new items, new quests, and new accomplishments
Hmm, might try to give/send feedback about maybe giving a darker background for the text, over the elderwood image. the white text is a lil hard to read
as they warned, the emote wheel/collection was reset. the only other things reset are focus and the watering can (they were emptied)
just tried to do temple of the gales despite accessibility issues. it's more frustrating than fun at this point. PLEASE add a skip option if you're listening devs! 😭
one of the new rooms has some poor lighting, but that doesn't seem to be in areas with things to do yet makes a couple interaction points (that are more subtle than before) a little shadowed
I just did the same thing! Tried it so I could get the Elderwood quests... let's just say I'm out for the next few hours 🥲
i found one egg. progress? 😅
^ pinging for forwarded msg
it's lovely that at least one dev is backing it, though i'm reading it as the ideas are compiled but not yet prioritized by leadership (no high/low/medium, or quarter/half/year placement) so it may be a while - that could just be pessimism though
maybe. vega said they couldn't prioritize it before cuz of Elderwoods, but it sounded like theyre going to try to work on it more now
i hope so anyways, esp with how often i bring it up and ask (and they do so too when they see me around) about it
i'm noticing some saturation changes (glow bugs greener) in world and in item icons (preserves a bit faded), what and how much changed may vary on your graphics settings I would guess and it's not seeming significant so far
seriously i missed most interaction points at least once
Any chance you can show some screenshots, if youre still in the area?
i'm not and totally blanked on doing that unfortunately
No worries! Was just curious. Thank you either way
for the things you can't catch/gather/hunt yet you get an error message with a hint
oh, interesting. that seems a bit dark
And the error message hint i think is really nice
yeah it's better than when your tool just does nothing because it's too low level
yeah it's a bit dark in an uneven and shadowed sort of way at night it seems (i haven't been in here for long)
I see that, hmm
i mean it's nice, but i can see it being an issue for some folks
there's some bright beams of light (atmosphere) and the first time I ran through one it was way too bright but ihaven't been able to repro yet to snag a picture
One thing is for sure; elderwoods is definitely not vertigo/migraine friendly 😷 -> 45min I'll stay on the couch with my bucket for tonight 😅
Other than that, I do like it!
how the map looks after you encounter something(central stables) you can't unlock which is great! you don't have to find them again, but there isn't a toggle to hide them so it might get too busy to really read the map
Which parts?
(I'm wanting to write things up and try to compile a list to send, if i can!)
Sick now, so I'll probably explain better tomorrow. But all of the tunnels, twisting and turning to go basically anywhere. I feel like you need to rotate camera all the time to go anywhere 🩷
lots of elevated walkways and yeah it's a little disorienting generally -- possibly because you don't really see the sky or horizon much?
I hope you feel better soon!
And thank you. I want to dive in but, i just know that white flash is going to give me a headache and im trying to be good for once
i snagged some shmole and orgapuu alone, but i can defnitely see why they recommend a party
bouncy pad flash in a fairly well lit area
so good and bad news on the climbing and bouncing - it is required and is rough on motion sickness, but after you find one of the stables you could fast travel to high up in the canopy and jump or glide to some things (a selection of perspectives)
okay mystery bags are a great addition - a type for each skill and a handful of ways to get them. I haven't fished yet, but I have gotten a fish
the talking to 2 npcs in one dialogue thing mentioned for early game in the patch notes, is also showing up in elderwood, the text does not move or change to show who is talking but their icon and name show at the top of the box. (also there was a stuttery flash of an extra/duplicate character, but that's a bug)
there are some in the twitch drops
flares don't really work due to how layered/tall this map is, so that can hurt navigation to - they need to add them to the compass and/or map
Gosh you're good. Still haven't downloaded it (just woke up!) but you've given an amazing list of things to keep an eye out for
i am struggling in the vertical sections - i'm just not very good at that sort of thing and starting to get some eye strain
Take care of yourself, friend
Thanks!
Now, I only played for about 45 minutes, so I don't have much to go on yet. But main issues for vertigo and migraine (according to me) per now is:
Lots of narrow twisty turny areas, many levels, disorienting, map doesn't really add up to places(map says sunny open spot, but the spot can be dark and looming)
Many different lights, colours, shapes and such in one spot. Little to no horizon, sky or anything level to rest your eyes upon. Much of the climbing and jumping must be done in a clockwise motion.
That's what I think so far. Visually straining. But beautiful none the less!
(Now I met my line of how long I can have my phone open again 😅) I'll try to play a bit again tomorrow, to see how it feels when I'm expecting it, if it's equally bad then?
one for the "to be captured/documented" list is seeing others use the bouncy pads - didn't look too bad from a distance in misty day light
And again: sick and tired, so English is proving difficult 😅
circling back to what is locked behind main story quest progression - everything infected including essence that's needed for the elderwood furniture set
hmm the more i do the more I think lighting is just a bit bugged with how dark or weirdly lit things are in dialogues, so i think it's pretty certain we'd get at least 1 lighting tweak
Mini Dev blog May 13th (so many posts in the last few days!) https://palia.com/news/development-roadmap-tease
- Official Roadmap in June "for summer and beyond"
- Next patch 0.192
- new discovery quests (locked or not? may not be msq but may require skills from it?)
- Courier pet earnable in game (per comments in discord and https://palia.com/news/broadening-store-with-care, it sounds like it's locked behind msq)
- Dynamic event in the elderwood to get plants
- expanding storage
- bug fixes ( #🌟│sixer-tracker is perhaps a hint of some that will be tackled, includes some things this channel has been asking for/reporting)
- decor & cosmetics
- Beyond that
- Animal Husbandry - pekis and ormuu based on the puns, image, and gif
artifact spots show on the compass and map (not sure if it requires finding it but not getting the item or if it truly is that helpful), with the artifact tracker
coming back briefly just out of curiosity. Has the random flashbang issue been fixed?
I haven't kept up with anything in a few months.
which one?
the one on loading screens they hope to have fixed in the next patch in june
the bouncy pads have not been addressed
the snowballs they tried to fix but it wasn't adequate
... there might be others?
happy to help and sorry for the answer
heads up - the street lamps in elderwood make a sound like you'd expect from a foragable or a quest item or bug
hey guys, my friend and I were playing in the elderwoods map and my friend started to feel very dizzy and had to get off, is anyone else having an issue with maybe like the purple and red colors being so vibrant?
Oh for sure. I was ok playing before Elderwood. My motion sickness has returned 100x. My graphics settings and such are still the same. I did notice that the water in Kilma is now reflecting the clouds hardcore. Which also contributes to the problem. I think they did something with the graphics all-around.
This! I struggle with the need to constantly rotate the camera. It won’t just follow.
Realized since I can't do temple of the gales quest/trigger elderwoods quests - I also can't get elderwoods specific items for hunting/bug catching
Welp. Guess I'll keep farming ore.
because of my disability, i need the mouse sensitivity turned way down for aiming (ex. bug catching, hunting), but i like the sensitivity turned up when just running around, for a while i have noticed that the separate aim sensitivity slider in settings does not work for me.
there's a setting under "gamepad settings" called "camera assist." try toggling that okn if it isn't already. that should cause the camera to automatically adjust when you use the left stick to run around.
I’ll double check that setting to be sure. 👍
Im visually impaired - and struggles hard with getting to ulfe... any other parts of this expansion that i might struggle with?
I'm probably only one quest ahead of you if you mean initially getting to him but....
The lighting generally isn't great, including in the maze/puzzle bit to get to him - both in an atmospheric way (it's a dark mysterious area) and in a way that feels buggy (characters look totally flat and shadowed or like there's a weird light on just parts of their face, places aren't just moody they're straight up dark), so I'm hopeful we'll get a tweak on that
If you mean how close/tight it was in there making the camera clumsy and limited, i haven't been in any other indoor spaces yet to know if it's a problem elsewhere
or how multiple places had the player character slipping down a slope that couldn't be climbed back up or being almost stuck in a falling animation, I think that's a straight up bug but it's too dim/muddy/low contrast to tell for sure which bits are supposed to be walked on.
I have always struggled with the lighting in the game for the past year. I think its too dark for my liking. I get they want to set the mood and give it this magical feel but my eyes just stuggle with it at times.
its good to know we are not the only ones who find specifically this new map more disorientating and very visually claustrophobic with a bunch of twists and turns, hopefully Palia can possibly create a setting that lessens the colors or makes it more easier on the eyes so people don't get super dizzy
My main issue is it’s too dark, had to turn up my computer brightness up for first time ever (usually have it all way down as it’s bright even then) but in elderwood had to turn it way up and still hard to see and when text comes up it’s soo bright but only way to actually see in the dark
If there is a Gamma setting, turn that up.
Brightness just makes the screen brighter, gamma usually turns up how visually bright the environment is for you... if the option is there.
Oh thank you so much!! I’ll look into that next time I play thank you !!
https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Guide:Settings looks like it's an option, too!
The Settings Menu lets you tweak the various aspects of your gameplay experience.
Hints are tutorials meant to introduce you to features and mechanics. Once dismissed, they currently cannot be viewed again, so please read closely. Each hint will show whether or not you have viewed it yet. Enable First...
thank you I will look into this!
the game has logged me out and wont let me sign back in i even remade my password
The gamma and color filters help a little but don't do much for lack of contrast, things being muddy from mist effects, or places where lighting just seems lacking (like half the dialogue screens - why can't we see subira and tamala clearly there? Why are elousia and caleri lit so weird)
Yep, this will only help the whole darkness issue. They will need to add true accessibility/color options.
I have done that and it makes the game look washed out not brighter
yeah you can't crank it all the way up, it's supposed to be set high enough so you can make your brightness not so high in general. It helps, but not if you couple it with brightness, or crank gamma all the way up.
They have a lot they still need to work out I see, I've only been in game for a total of like 20 minutes, yesterday lol
I agree completely, I think they need to add a setting to help with this
#💻│tech-help might have a troubleshooting list
Sorry for late ping, just starting to backread some more and going through everything. And if this was already answered below ... dont mind me
But was the vertical sections struggling with eyestrain because of how tall it was, or bc of how dark and the lighting is or both?
In game depth perception, reflexes, timing for it not being easy to do generally - got there in the end just like with temples but it took time to adjust/learn and adjust, still not good at it but passable
Some eyestrain and motion sickness too that seemed to be mostly from lighting as resetting then messing with the gamma and filter helped
But the trees with their mushroom pads going by when jumping or falling contributed a little too
Thank you! And thank you for noting this stuff in general here
appreciate you greatly
I'll have something on differentiating mining nodes, but I gotta grab a couple more screenshots
Thank you! (again)
I dont know what channel i can ask for so i might try it here...but how long does it take to get a confirmation Mail i need for the support?
#💻│tech-help maybe? since it's not about accessibility in game
Well its more or less about accessibility because i wanted to have my character deleted so i can start all over again
no one on discord can do account support, but #💻│tech-help would have the most experience with support tickets
It can honestly vary, and right now it might take a bit specifically due to the new update, and ppl sending in tickets due to bugs!
Thats why i wanted to start all over again ...havent played palia over a year now...alot new content and continue right in the middle is not my thing
yeah, i completely get it. Hopefully they get back to you soon and can help you out
You could always make a completely new account without deleting the old one, you'd need to tie it to a different e-mail etc though.
yeah but no thank you
snagging these now and silver is so much more obvious than platinum 😢
Okay Mining nodes
- Silver (Kilima Village) and Gold (Bahari Bay) are now standalone nodes
- Palium (Elderwood only) is now as common as iron
- Stone in Elderwood also gives whitestone
- Platinum (Elderwood) has been added and is rare (didn't get great pics cuz I didn't find it again today)
so that's 3 new nodes to try to identify and the lighting in Elderwood is making Platinum a bit rough (at first i thought it was infected stone, but that is not a thing as we learn through the quests)
Hi, I have a few fingers missing on my left hand so I have an adapted ps5 controller to play games with but I'm really struggling with fishing? You don't have a Hold button for fishing which is really challenging for me i struggled to do the silverbird quest as it required me to fish for 4 fish and they moved too quick. Are there plans to make this more accessible to disabled people ?
!feedback We keep asking for things like that, definitely send in feedback to add your voice to the call (unfortunately the support site is the only officially monitored support or feedback channel, you can snag dev's attention when they're around here though like in #💬│palia-discussions right now. !feedback would be a good place to mention it so the devs see it. I'm not aware of any announcements, unfortunately, though we might see something with the roadmap. So far, they didn't do much re accessibility but they mentioned a few things and also did change a few smaller things.

I had a hard time telling if I'd interacted with/unlocked the statutes and shrines in Kilima and Bahari - if they showed any change to indicate it missed it - but Elderwood has an obvious change in state so you don't have to just remember or try to interact and get concerned you did something wrong
Watery Swampy areas are mostly shallow water you can walk through however
- there are transitions to deep water where fishing nodes often are
- this image shows deep water wells/whirlpools that are dotted throughout the shallows on the left
- This image shows mossy/algae looking areas of slime that you slow on down that cover a good amount of the shallows on the right
I'm not sure if it's all of them, but at least some of the Bahari ones drop a book in front of them after you interacted :-) In case that helps somehow...
they reset so I grabbed some screenshots - old style on the top left, other 3 are the new more subtle style - pretty sure that look was purely decorative before
Thanks. I have put it as feedback from the link provided
day time outside look at platinum
That one looks like it'll be really hard to tell from stone and palium :-(
it's got veins and chunks, but yeah beige on grey isn't easy to see
this UI size is way too BIG, we need choice between old size of and new one
Does anyone know what Mia is asking me to do?
spoiling cuz idk how many people have reached this far, in one of the new elderwoods quests ||like a shiprunt - maze part|| , if you reached a certain part of it, the water can start flickering between glossy and metalic like textures
I struggle a lot to tell between the different bugs/animals when they're covered in the goo, since colors is how they're mainly differentiated in game, and the goo makes them all black/purple covered
Oh this section was so extremely hard to see it was so dark it was insane and same with the beasts cave
Unfortunately I do think that’s the point of the infected, it takes over and one can’t differentiate between them
finally made it through the gale temple only to find that temple of the roots has even harder unskippable platforming...i know i've done a quest in this game where i could skip the platforming section...why only that one?
I think roots has some way to avoid the platforming, but it's not obvious. It's been a while since I did it, for me, but I only successfully went through the platforms in one spot, all the others I avoided with some climbing and looking for alternative paths.
S6 might've changed it, I'm not certain. Once I got teleported to the other side after falling enough, that sure felt like a bug but the other ones seemed intentional for me.
Also, congrats on finishing Gales!!
i'm on the first platformin section (not counting the one with two forward moving platforms, because that one isn't super hard) and i found a guide that says if you fall, you can always land on the pipes and use the vines to climb back up. i checked, those vines are only at the starting point, so i can't use them to get where i need to go.
Is it the one with the three that go left and right?
I'm at work right now, will have a look once I get back home.
It’s in here but in my actual setting 🙁
not sure how much you can tell from this screenshot, but the platforms move quickly from side to side and you have to ||push each purple button (i think) on each side and then you can open the center door||
Thanks, I'll have a look later! Might be the place where I got my bug actually...
I haven't done this but I think Vega wrote it so that if you fail several times you are offered a skip. I'll see if I can find that info.
hmm. i know for a fact i have fallen at least several times 😅🤔 but that def makes sense, so info would be helpful. thanks!
Yeah roots has the vines and pipes, but it also has
- the simple moving platforms in the large naturey rooms with floors are skippable entirely
- you can get hints from the NPCs with you
- falling a bunch does eventually put you at the next step in that room rather than back at the start (I didn't notice when it happened to me, so just fell again immediately instead of doing the task 😆 )
Those are the things I remember Vega mentioning for the roots temple
I hope those help!
how many times do you have to fall though to receive the skip option? i haven't counted, but i have fallen at least 5 times in a row. no skip option.
Often, they want to account for people falling normally I guess... If there are any NPCs around, talk to them too, they might offer it instead of it being automatic.
i didnt get all rewards from the elderwood news page. my bag was full but i didnt get all plushies... like my friend did..
known issue + planned as a rolling distribution, keep an eye on #📢│palia-status and #1371900121972867143 . you can also ask in #🦋│issues-discussions or #💻│tech-help if it's worth putting in a ticket yet
i submut a ticket but didnt get worthy replay sadly.
given the launch on 2 new platforms and the new map bringing in returning and new players, i'd guess their ticket volume is such that it could be up to 2 weeks to receive a response at this point
Hhmmmmmm....
OUTFIT ANNIMATION SETTING.... Any Switch player found the setting to turn it off? I have looked and can't find it at all!
it doesn’t exist, sadly :c they’ve said they’re looking into implementing it in a future update.
As of this week we got them to put it on the to do list(no more languishing in the backlog), we don't know how long it will take or if work can start on it immediately or if it will do everything we want (sounds like VFX elements only, not all animations) but it's the most firm answer we've gotten in it
I started playing again recently, is there a way to turn off the zoom in when watering? I have to close my eyes when I water crops so I don't get nausea
i don’t think so :( (i hate the animation too, albeit for different reasons… my poor palian looks like they’re breaking their back!)
A caveat to this - if you want to get them faster/more than quest rewards or shrine drops, they cost a lot of essence
I keep thinking I hear a starred bug nearby
Once you get ||the relic accessory|| From Elouisa's quest, gathering essence is SO much easier imo. Especially since ||chopping infected trees|| is a fairly quick way to get it
yes, but you still need rare items and lots of essence to get there too so it's still not quite as good as hoped for those who cannot do one or more skills
True
I'm on bed rest so have a ton of free time for Palia, so if anyone in here ever needs help getting rarer items or partying up to get shared loot from difficult activities like hunting, feel free to add me, my IGN is Skip Jacobson
Not know if this is the right channel, But there is no feature for buying stuff in bulk right?
There is not. I've tried to do the same. :')
A problem with the sounds:
My partner who I play with can't play the expansion, due to the noises these lights make. the soft chime is a massive migraine trigger, which leaves them unable to play without needing to take the rest of the day off from everything else.
If the radius of the noise was smaller around the lights, it'd be fine. It's the fact that it's always chiming, everywhere.
The volume slider for the lights contains the bugs alert noise, which they need to be able to bughunt.
If there was a seperate slider for ambience it'd be awesome, but for now they can't play elderwoods and are very bummed about it.
If anyone has any tips or anything, it'd help!
Thinking that having more than just a green dot when it party's would be handy as it gets confusing when you have a full party if green dots 😅💚 just a suggestion wasn't sure where to put it
no tips, just solidarity - though I just find the sound annoying since it sounds like starred bugs to me and there are so many of those lights
Big bump, there should be a cart for the shop

spoiling cuz im in elderwoods, while fishing in the green parts of || de mer dock ||, you can see a fading effect while moving your rod
Hi pls how i change ACC on ps5 we have only one ps5 home
oof that is a rough visual
Do you have one profile on the ps5? If you don’t make a new one and use that profile for your own account. I believe that should work

In #🤝│trading , head to the pinned message (first message in the channel), read it, click the green check, and then you should get the trading role
Hey there!
Sadly i'm having the huge problems with motion sickness since an update, maybe 1 year? ago.
I already tried all the ways of improving the settings, multiple times, but i cant even play for 10 minutes without getting knocked to the couch
I played this game soo long and had so much fun, i would like like to play the new update, but nothing has changed
I dont know what to do, instead of trying and trying and reporting the issue
Is Palia having problems with the Xbox connection? I’ve played the game on here before in the last two days I’ve not been able to connect to the game.
heya! accessibility isn’t the place to post this question — https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1135680775698792488, https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1161792559434178671, and https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1181718482518286489 are for issues like yours. accessibility is different from connectivity. hopefully folks in those channels can help you out more.
i’m sorry to hear that. have you tried these settings at all? #♿│accessibility-discussions message
Yes and also in other variations
i honestly don’t know what to tell you. the game made me SO motion sick and i just played it until it… didn’t? it’s incredibly frustrating that that was my “solution”. i’m not sure if there is anything you can do other than give that feedback
same here
i had more motion sickness with the elderwood update (back to 30ish minutes before it was too rough which is down from 2hrs)and changing the color filter helped a little (like brought it up to 1hr before eye strain and the start of nausea) ? it's an odd one I know. S6 really needs to do more though, even if it's creating the mythical motion sickness settings section by reorganizing existing stuff and reducing animations (watering, tilling, outfits, bombs, arrows, bounce pads, any i'm missing)
I have a wird request. I have adhd and I find it really hard to focus when I'm playing and there is a lot to read. Is there any way that we could make some kind of button around diarys and other long text so I can here somebody reading that? Preferably if I can choose the speed 😅
Hope I'm not the only one with that situation 😅
I would love to know palia lore but it's hard when there is so much to read. I'm getting destrsctide and frustrated
Unfortunately, I doubt it'll happen in the near future, though I agree it'd be helpful for many people. It's just, many things that seem simpler (because they wouldn't require recording all the texts) haven't been implemented either.
Could some kind of screen reader help, if it's the actual reading that's causing issues?
voice work is pricey but it can really make a world feel more lively. There's also been a similar ask for a diary/journal to be able to reread all the written items you've found in world. We need another survey after the roadmap & next patch or for a lot of people to be sending these things in to feedback on the support site
Try changing your gamma settings along with what was linked earlier. If other settings don't help me (certain colors really mess with me if they are together especially if I'm moving or they are) changing motion blur settings (don't know if other platforms have it but afaik PS5 don't which is what I'm playing on) and barring that changing gamma either up or down usually fixes stuff. All else fails, I turn everything grey scale so I can function without the motion sickness and migraines in games. I thankfully haven't needed to do that in palia but I've needed to go full grey scale in a few zones in games over the decades.
i'm pretty sure my issue at least half that my glasses aren't quite right this time around, so no settings will help that; also did you mean to reply to the person asking the question so they'd get a ping?
hey guys! Just had a thought, but would the game ever consider making fishing and hunting more accessible for controller users? As of now, its very strenuous on the wrists to try and move accurately enough to even make 1 shot. Someone else brought up how fishing is difficult for them too. Has this been discussed at all?
!feedback
A ton over the years yeah (pre-alpha started in mid 2021). The pins have a little bit about it but there's also the whole of this channel, scattered discussions in other channels, plenty in the no longer visible alpha channels, stuff folks have sent in through the feedback form and bug report option on the support site, and replies to user surveys.
Gotta keep making noise about it and adding more voices to the calls for accessibility settings.

Sounds like a great topic for #💬│palia-discussions or #💬│palia-general , or did you have something accessibility-related in mind?
My wife has very little vision and the words are too small for her on a lot of things from the inventory to the text box. Would there be a possibility of a high contrast mode and perhaps a text size option? We both play this game together but it's extremely hard for her on Switch.
Does anyone have any experience with getting a cosmetic refunded? The hometown hero cosmetic is cute, but the effects when throwing smoke bombs throws off my vision and I don't know if I can handle that
!support you have to put in a request for a refund. you will receive your refund in palia coins but won’t be able to buy the outfit again.
Here's a link to the Player Support: http://support.palia.com/
I'll put in a request right now, thank you
Hi, I put in a support ticket and haven't heard back, was wondering how long it usually takes for someone to get to your ticket?
It will take awhile rn, they are backed up with support tickets
Cross posting with tech help — Hey there — is there any way to turn or tune down the graphics settings for Palia on Nintendo Switch or PlayStation5? I have been playing on Switch since 2023 and have never faced this level of stuttering or lag before. My hubby is a long-time PS5 gamer and suggested turning off flowers and grass — but was surprised to see that on Palia’s PS5 options menu, exactly like on the Switch, there are NO graphic rendering / detail reduction options like “reduce view distance” or “turn off water / shadow effects” etc. Is this yet another option PC players get that non-PC players don’t? We are a Mac computer house so either console is my only choice right now and like I said, I’ve been playing since 2023! I love this game and community. But the stuttering lag is so, so hard. 😦
From an #♿│accessibility-discussions perspective I absolutely adore the ability to remap buttons for the controllers on console (yes I know I could pair a controller with a computer) but the button mapping with PS5 vs Switch is also not working very well. For instance setting an action to Triangle and seeing the on-screen prompt say “Use” for Triangle… but then pressing Square does the action instead? Or both buttons trigger the action set only to Triangle.
Honestly, I think even just adding an option to zoom out would help immensely. I don’t normally get motion sick, but first person view games make me sooo sick, sometimes within minutes. If I can zoom out to more of a bird’s eye view, though, I’m fine.
We could zoom out before but they removed the ability at some point
I definitely had to play with the field of view (FOV) setting a bunch at the start
Hello, is there a way to log out of an account on ps5?
!support is the only way - for questions like that try #🎲│console-zone or #💻│tech-help next time since it's not an accessibility related issue
Here's a link to the Player Support: http://support.palia.com/
I hope they let you have more than 4 people in a party soon
Hi hi!
Not sure if this technically falls under accessibility, so apologies if it doesn’t - but I think it might help folks like me who get easily distracted or overwhelmed with sorting through stuff in-game.
Storage Chests:
It’d be awesome to have a “Sort By” option in the Storage Chests, especially in the “All” tab. A few useful sorting filters could be:
- Quantity
- Sell Value
- Rarity
- Recently Added
- Focus Points (super handy for edible ingredients or meals)
- Alphabetical
- Category (e.g. Foraging, Cooking, etc..)
Premium Shop:
A “Sort” or “Filter” option here would be super helpful too - maybe options like:
- Price
- Date Added
- Owned / Not Owned
- Limited-Time Only (if this is a thing, I've not played very long yet lol)
I know these aren’t groundbreaking features, but little things like this really help players (especially neurodivergent folks or anyone who gets easily overwhelmed) navigate things more smoothly.
Looking forward to seeing how Palia continues to grow!
!feedback would be a great place to let the devs know about this :-)

Feel free to keep it here if you want to :-)
folks may want to talk about it! folks just also nudge you towards feedback since this is a player to player channel.
Not sure if it counts as accessibility, but I noticed when you're in the shop and turn your character, it zooms in really close. over time. I've heard some complaints about zooming in in the past, figured it wouldn't hurt to mention it.
Hey have you ever heard anything back regarding this? I saw someone else mention in the next patch the special effects will become a toggle but I don't know if that's official news?
The Elder wood, while being very atmospheric, is extremely dark. At some points, like the cave where Tamala leaves you, it's pitch black.
I would appreciate a flashlight feature, or lamps which can be turned on or whatever which helps with this problem.
I already reduced all shadow settings to minimum/off, but there is no brightness slider in the options :/
!feedback That sounds like a very good thing for feedback so the devs see it! You're right that it can be hard to see in there, unfortunately I don't know much about workarounds there. I think I've seen some discussions on brightness workarounds though, so maybe someone else has an idea?

I can’t login Palia at all on ps5 n tried everything
#🎲│console-zone is probably the best place to ask, unless you've got some specifically accessibility-related questions?
Ty
Nothing yet, I just became used to it eventually
My query was accessibility I cannot login at all it says it cannot connect to your server but it’s not my network
Accessibility means (approximately) "things players with disabilities etc need to be able to access the game", not "for some reason my technology won't work". For tech questions, please head to one of the channels that focus on it or one of the general channels. Since you're on PS5, I'd recommend asking in the #🎲│console-zone , you could also ask in #💻│tech-help though.
(If I'm misunderstanding and there is some accessibility thing involved that isn't just tech issues, I'm sorry. Should that be the case, please explain where the issue is.)
Actually I didn't think about it... I will try! Thanks 🥰
You're welcome!
semi official in that one of the devs said they were starting on it last week but it's not in a post or patch notes #💬│palia-discussions message
ohh thanks, so one day we will get this option
you're welcome - june being fix focused and it being "added" in the (from our POV) first week of the cycle/sprint means it could be there, but if it wasn't early enough to get it QA'd for june then I'd expect it in july
Buttons in the game zoom in and out with a rocking motion. This is unnecessarily exaggerated; it doesn't feel like switching gears, but rather like a tiring, annoying gimmick.
Using the buttons in the settings feels natural.
Moving the tabs up and down is unnecessarily forceful, seems overbearing and annoying. A more subtle approach would certainly be perceived as more elegant.
Dialogues: The "Next" button displays the "Continue" tooltip. This is doubly negative.
- Tooltips can be useful for familiarizing yourself. They should be deactivated. I avoid controls with tooltips, which I find unpleasant.
- I don't want to continue now; I prefer to have the conversation. 😉
Permanent tooltip for "F." Please deactivate this option. It's always visible in the settings, and you know it; you expect the letters because it's common practice.
Permanently displayed at the bottom left: "Press Enter to chat." This is annoying; I don't want to read this constantly. The options tell you how to access the chat.
Tooltips are everywhere in the selection areas, annoying. Please create an option to disable them, as well as a way to permanently display the information.
The tool ring is ideal: It doesn't show any text at all, and the button images are clear.
When you receive quests, the indicators on the right slide deep into the screen and slide back again before you can properly look away. -- Please allow this to be optionally disabled. You can read everything in the quest log.
The permanent task list on the right takes up a lot of space. It's annoying. Please allow you to show/hide it as desired using a keystroke.
"You've joined a new server." It keeps saying to me in the bottom left corner. I knowingly haven't joined anything. Even if I had, why does it repeat the phrase like a stupid "annoying cat machine?" I don't know how to disable this gross nonsense; I have to leave the game.
In the settings area, the premium sign is constantly over-pulsing. This is extremely unpleasant. For Palia, this behavior means reduced income. Because nervous, intrusive stuff is only used by small children. Anyone who sees something over-pulsing might find it annoying and leave the uncomfortable site. - Please refrain from this gross nonsense. The static sign is golden and magnificent. Those who use it do so because they enjoy using it.
The devs don't really read here, this isn't a feedback channel, if you want to leave feedback for the devs it's more reliable to use the feedback system they put in place.

This channel is more for discussion between players who are having issues relating to disability, illness, neurodivergence, etc. or just find aspects of the game painful or difficult.
I wrote one ticket 3 weeks ago and another one 2 weeks ago about deletion and still havent got a answer yet. If I log in on the support website it says I have no ongoing requests
this is really bugging me cuz I wanna continue playing on ps5 with a new account
Thanks for yourinfos. Yeah, I've seen a lot of sub-boards being created on Discord several times. It can be a bit confusing for people who speak a different language.
I hope the ticket system isn't always poorly evaluated. The developers certainly have a lot to do.
I have the same issue! Messed with a bunch of settings and some helped a bit but the issue is not gone enough for me to feel good playing it anymore. This used to be my hyperfixation game and have SO many hours logged, but I straight up can't play this game anymore. When I get motion sick in games it can mess me up for days (I have eye issues) so it's not worth it to even push through. I'm so sad cuz I want to play so bad.
So disappointed in S6 , this game is not inclusive at all, Cant continue with main quests in Elderwood because i cant complete Temple of Gales due to hand/wrist disabilities, sent numerous emails and they just dont care, I have noone else able to complete for me as noone i know plays , Am i supposed to risk my account and get a random person to complete it??? Bad form S6, thanks for discriminating. Im sure there would be a way to complete certain quests for us with disabilities, sad as i have played game since closed beta and i really would like to progress
hopefully the feedback and/or support tickets you sent in help push the solutions the engineers have up leadership's priority list #♿│accessibility-discussions message
i need 2 eggs out of my 10, Cant do up in the air quest either because door isnt open, so basically im stuck 😭
that's so frustrating and there are so many people in a similar position with gales - a few things in there took me like a dozen tries but my issue is like 90% being bad at video games and 10% physical limits so I can only relate a little
I don't know if this helps at all, but there's a youtube account called pixelcave that has step by step videos on how to get all 15 eggs from the Gales temple, so you may be able to locate 10 that you're able to get to, since that's all the quest requires. Really helped me get through that place.
idk if you've looked into that but, things like teamviewer etc could be a possible solution. you basicly give controll of your screen (instead of giving ur whole account infor to someone) and they can in live time controll it for you, its kinda like share play on playstation but pc - im sure someone here would be able to help u out and if u cant find anyone shoot me a msg and i'll help u
Greetings. The last time I played was back in October. I am in the game today and therte is a hazy quality now to day and night scenes. I looked for fixes but nothign seems to bring back the vibrant look it used to have. Can anyone else? Thank you so much in advance. I have visual impairments and this new look makes it so hard to play
pc?
I know someone who isn't a gamer, but uses JAWS.
Yes, sorry
have u tried the nightmode feature in windows? in the settings u can use a slider to alter ur screen like, contrast brightness etc
I've never heard of that but I can try it. It's just the game has changed and I wasn't the only one to notice. There is this hazy foggy quality to the scenes now and there is no vibrance to any colors. It used to look so clear before
yeah id suggest try that or try around with the "calibrate screen" in settings ingame
Are you using a screen reader at all?
changing between dx11 and dx12 in the graphic settings also makes a difference in how "contrasty" (??) the game looks hope something will work for ya
No. I came into the game with no settings different then I ever had when I played hte last time.
That didn't seem to fix thigns either but thank you for the suggestion
i see, do u have an know what brand ur graphic card is? because both amd and geforce have loooots of settings for high contrast, vivid gaming, colorblind etc
Try turning off Bloom in the game
And see if that helps. That has helped me in the past
try this if to dark - graphics settings in advanced click on calibrate - then adjust the gamma (slide right a bit)
Hidden gamma setting, nice. Will try that.
That was the first thing suggested by the internet. I turned down post quality and it got better.
NVIDA and other then updating it, I never touched it's settings either
I will try that next
Thank you all, while it isn't the way I remember it, it is so much better and helped out my gf as well. Thank you aoo so very much!
okay i understand why the "street lamps" in the elderwood make noise, but I still don't like the noise they chose - it's too similar to starred bugs to me
is there a setting to turn off cross platfrom play?
no, everyone is going to the same servers regardless of platform

I know its a long shot- but i play on ps5 and I have a hard time reading a lot. It strains my eyes and gives me a headache. Does anyone know any setting I can change that maybe I missed? Or something the actual playstation can change? Thanks anyways
Idk if you've already done it but in the settings you can change the fontsize and opacity of the text and text bubbles if that's something you haven't tried already☺️🫶🏻
Thanks so much for the advice! I have done that but it doesn’t affect all the text? It makes the main texts a bit bigger but things like item details and stuff is still hard for me to see. But I appreciate you!
looks like the hotfix addresses a big lighting issue in one of the new quests #1377692039658999839 message

Not sure if it's intentional or not, but it seems that the 50m reaction distance for creatures when hunting was changed. This really, really interferes with my and many other's abilities to hunt, because of disabilities or inability to be in a group.
I can't always be in a group myself, nor do I always want to be in one, and sniping was the only way I could hunt solo due to my hands being shaky.
Can we please get the 50m limit back?
Oh! I didn't realize I'd have to go through the website, my b. I probably should of looked harder XP
It was 50 actually and yes. I am disabled. This was the only way I could really hunt. Ogopuu's def out for me. Those suckers run too fast. LOL
Ok, so I'm setting up the Azeron Cyro for my friend and I've noticed the game really doesn't like how the Cyro has a joystick while also functioning as a keyboard
My friend only has use of one hand, so we thought the Cyro would be the perfect solution for her. I've been able to get other keyboard and controller-compatible games to function without issue
Ooop, I'll edit that!
I am literally appalled at them nerfing the distance shooting. That is so anti-accessibility. Even if it was an accidental thing you could do. Those like me with hand impairments simply cannot move the bow around quick enough to hit moving critters. S6 this is such a bad look for you guys.
EVERYONE MAKE SURE YOU SEND OFFICIAL FEEDBACK TO S6 ON ANY OF THESE ISSUES

Agreed!!
They sent me a warning for calling someone cruel over ableism while discussing how my disabilities make playing harder sometimes in reference to the distance shooting conversation.
Sent Einar after me 👌
It IS a ableist. I'm really going off this game lately due to the actions of S6
Global Balance Changes
In addition to the new hunting creatures, we’ve made a number of adjustments to hunting across the game. We’ve gotten feedback that our hunting creatures get spooked too easily and are making some changes to make it easier to sneak up on them.
Greatly reduced the angle at which creatures could spot you. They have more tunnel vision now. Slightly reduced range at which loud sounds will cause creatures to flee. Lethargy Arrows have the following adjustments: Greatly increased slow-effect duration Slightly decreased the effect slow has on all creatures Slightly decreased the damage the arrow does Tier III Creatures no longer remove the slow effect when using their own abilities These changes should give a clearer identity to the Lethargy Arrow while also better supporting the new hunting creatures in Elderwood. Slightly reduced the sprint speed of all Sernuk Slighty reduced Elder Sernuk health
some changes from may 13 were intended, including making creatures notice you less but it sound like you're experiencing the opposite if i'm reading that right? https://palia.com/news/patch-191
This is a NEW change implemented in today's hotfix.
Plus, the changes u link to haven't helped accessibility too... all critters now require MORE hits to take down
huh, they should -
- slow down works on more creatures and lasts longer
- more hits for everything when using the slowdown arrows, except the elder sernuk which could be the same, easier, or hard depending on actual numbers
- sernuks are slower
if they aren't doing those things then either it's a bug or the patch notes are wrong
Like they've technically improved some things whilst simultaneously making other things worse, for an overall worse accessibility experience
but the change today sounds like it's definitely a bug since it wasn't mentioned in the fix notes https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1377692039658999839 and would be a global mechanic change they'd want to communicate from past comms they've done on the topic
Cos we all know how great S6 are at communicating what they are doing........
on global mechanic changes that they did on purpose? they have actually been, which is a surprise
Not without being repeatedly BEGGED to tell us what they changed , often. AFTER the hotfix
huh I must have missed that or forgotten, i don't remember anything they changed re:global game mechanics on purpose but didn't communicate
Can’t get in, let me in
Suuuure....
🐸🐸🐸
truly - they're at communication generally, but I can't think of a change they made on purpose that wasn't communicated
that's a bug/glitch/exploit fix (epic bugs being on the map in large numbers in any circumstance is a bug) and was communicated, though obliquely #📢│palia-status message (and it didn't fix it....)
Is there arrows that do more damage to the oppus to make up for it?
WAS DEPLOYED.... that update was put out after the fact after repeated requests to do so
The update messed up my game
fine arrows have the highest hp (I don't think ew or dispel are more?)
;-; dispel needs to be bubbfed if it says "deals high damage" in its bio.. but does the same dmg as fine
everything in official places is vague unfortunately, you'd need to find a source we can't discuss here that dug in to find the specific values
Was jw if they had a buffed arrow dmg
but yeah fine and dispel have the same "deals high damange" description
Since opus have a lot of hp
they intend for those to be hunted in parties from the sounds of their posts, which is unfortunate for solo players
Fine deal highest damage.
ty
Am I allowed to post screenshots of the general text here?
Like, I want to add context of what other people were saying
Like there was a discussion on accessibility and I wanted to share my thoughts on it, but I was replying to people
of course
Oh wait
Yeah, creatures run regardless of how far away you are when you hit them now.
They can be nearly out of sight and the moment your arrow hits them or lands by them, they're running away, along with any others in the immediate area.
This is a snippet of a discussion over a glitch where animals stand still, making them easy to hunt
They were discussing if that makes it, too easy, I guess
I forgot to crop one
Someone also suggested arrows that slow prey, I think this could be a cool feature, but not a replacement for accessibility
I think different arrows are a cool idea, but definitely not an accessibility replacement. If someone can't aim the arrows are useless
My entire issue is that moving targets are darn near impossible for me to hit due to hand shake and pain.
The ability to long range snipe them, and have them not run, made it possible for me to hunt them, including the rare/harder creatures.
Mmm, maybe a feature that one shots all animals?
That way it's a bit less jarring than the animal holding still
Plus it makes you feel cool
I do think a lot of the accessibility issues could be alleviated, at least until proper options can be developed, by just allowing us to trade with friends. They seem very opposed to it though for some nonsensical reason
Honestly, I'd take an arrow type that could do this, even if it means I have to farm rarer materials for it.
Uhhhh... unfairness maybe? If your friends don't play you can trade with anyone?
Dunno honestly
Worth a consideration from the devs then I think
I don't see how it would be unfair. Anyone can friend anyone.
It encourages you to still engage with the game and takes effort to achieve, its just a different path
Not that struggle makes the game fun, but effort helps make stuff like that satisfying i think
Another suggestion would be for a special kind of bow that would essentially do the same (one-shot k.o.), that could be tied to a quest involving disability awareness, but I feel like that would be far more complicated than something like arrows with special material requirements. 🤣
Eh, could be cool as a later quest
A disabled archer with an enchanted bow, theyre actually a witch/woodcarver, they enchant their bows so getting food is easier
Maybe they have joint damage from the years of repetitive motions so they use magic to ease the burden of simple tasks
Okay, yes, that's actually a really cool idea. I like that a lot.
Actually if the devs don't use that idea, I will
Hah! I wouldn't blame you!
I honestly love the tropes of using magic as disability aids, rather than using magic to wave away all chronic pains and disabilities
Like "yeah my wrist still hurts when I stir the soup pot, so I've been working on this spell that'll stir it for me"
If there's anything I know about people with disability, it's that they're clever
They learn how to work around their limits
Like we do this which modern tech already, and things like simple machines have always helped us achieve things we usually can't, think about things like ramps and shovels
So, so much this.
I will never not be fully impressed with how creative those with disabilities can be, and I truly think that ingenuity should 100% be celebrated.
And the fact that not only do we help ourselves with it, but have also extended it to other beings to help them, like our pets... I love seeing it.
Exactly, I love how intelligent and creative people can be, how many unconventional solutions we find to solve problems, its one of my favorite things about humans, and with disabled people, necessity is the mother of invention
I love the resilient spirit I see in the people around me who struggle against problems they can't control, how many solutions they find
I wish society would look at them more, not as burdens, but as something worth their time
I dunno if I should stop talking, like, im not really talking about game stuff anymore
LOL Yeah, we've probably both went entirely off-track, but maybe it will help encourage someone to do something to help with this issue.
Either way, I agree wholeheartedly, so we can leave things where they are and see what happens!
Actually it seems like the people in the screenshot from before are also discussing one hit ko arrows, ironically
I think they'd be a good middle ground.
It's not something that's just immediately available, but it's an option for those who need it.
Even if it requires a little work, it's better than having nothing in the end.
They sound really fun honestly, I like powerful weapons in games
And I know accessibility can sometimes feel like handholding so it might be nice if its an arrow type anyone, able bodied or not, might use
Exactly, and it comes down to "if you don't like the idea of them, you don't have to use them" too.
I'm here for anything that raises awareness of how disability affects gamers
I wasn't actually discussing the arrow itself, but the premise of its cost being unfairly expensive being similar to how real-world costs are typically significantly higher for those of us with disabilities, and that the idea of that would just create a mirror in a game that many use as a form of escapism, which is inherently problematic /gen
I love the idea of freeze arrows, though it would need to be a decent amount of time to really make an impact I feel
but also as more an add on rather than being THE accessible option, if ya get what I’m saying?
like BOTH more accessibility for hunting & the arrows
I just meant the concept was still brought up independently of our conversation
Same
Super off topic but I would like to order 1 weird animal fact pls

The discussion went on much further, my general consensus was much more elaborate and in-depth, as I don't believe there's a one-size-fits-all solution to accessibility in games ^^
Both male and female Reindeer have antlers, but they shed them at different times of the year
And there used to be three toed horses i believe
In the fossil record
I have a million of them if you wanna hear, in a different channel tho
Better colourblind features would be a great thing, especially for tritanopia as the current filters aren't all that great.
A way to track singular targets without the use of third-party apps, such as a tracking arrow, which would track 1 single target at a time. You shoot something (Eg; Sernuk) and it will track it until it dies. After that, you can shoot another target and it will track that. It would be a great way to help people who struggle with focus, but also hearing and visual disabilities as well as you wouldn't have to rely as much on seeing and hearing.
Aim stabilisation as an option alongside aim assist, so that you can maintain some autonomy with your aim without being affected by any kind of physical issue such as tremors, tics, dexterity issues, shaking etc. So instead of the arrows being directed towards your target, you're still able to aim by yourself without being affected by any involuntary movements that could impact your ability to aim
These are just a couple of ideas I have off the top of my head, but honestly? Palia could 100% be the change the industry needs in terms of accessibility one day. If there's ever a chance to really focus on making it as accessible as possible, it would genuinely be incredible

I think some people are willing to put in work in areas others arent. I'd love to make an in game friend that brings back materials and does the skill strategizing and I do the decorating strategizing. They both take effort and skill and strategy
Thats fair, I still think the accessibility should be a thing
I'm not sure if I'm reading this correctly, but if I am then:
Having an accessibility feature that takes effort to achieve isn't an accessibility feature. Because achieving it will still be harder for those that need it.
We shouldn't have to work for accessibility. That's like saying "If you climb these stairs first, THEN you can use a wheelchair ramp"
If I misread it I apologise though, I'm exhausted and trying to read through a ton of comments
Yes, I didn't mean it that way
I specifically said that I would like that style of arrows as a thing, not that it would be the accessibility feature
I meant for me personally that I would want a challenge to work for fancy arrows like that, not that that should be the only option
Ah ok. Sorry then lol.
I don't have the brain to read through the whole conversation unfortunately. ADHD and all. I will say as a response to what I HAVE seen, given that the game isn't competitive in the normal sense, having accessible options kinda doesn't make it "unfair" in the way some people were saying (especially as anyone can use the accessibility features if they choose to)
I play cult of the lamb and I love that you can screw with a LOT of the game settings to essentially make a game that is fun to play for you, up to and including essentially making your character unkillable. I never turned that one one but I did play with some of the features that stopped the game being such a struggle for me and I think Palia could learn from that kind of granular control
Especially since the monetisation is only in cosmetics, we don't pay for materials etc, they don't lose money by making it easier to play for those that need it
Oh no, I dont think you should have to compete at anything, I meant that the game should be time consuming as video games intend to consume time, ig
Like progression and sucv
Idk I was trying to think of it from the perspective of a dev
I agree to an extent although requiring literally hours of grinding for one quest item is honestly very inaccessible
Well I didn't say that
Looking at you, started oggie scale
No I know and I'm not arguing with you just... venting a little I guess about how games by default seem to reward those who can spend hours at a time doing stuff
Ah, fair fair
Like, I have mobility issues, pain issues, I take meds that make me spacey, I can't sit in one spot and stare at a screen for hours at a time trying to hunt down the one thing I need for the one quest
Most things like that, I will say, have been fairly good in this game though
I cant remember all of what you can do, I remember they let you stop time on crusades which I thought was a lifesaver because I, also being adhd, struggle with time management
Yes that was one of the best features they gave and I turned at on for the same reason
Cos I was literally getting anxiety going on crusades
Yeahhh its not super fun to worry someone will drop dead in the middle of a run and give everyone the plague lol
But a lot of people see folks asking for accessibility options and say that we're just trying to make the game easy or "missing out on the experience" and I wish they understood that actually we want to be able to experience it the way they can but we can't, so without accessibility options we often can't experience it at all
Yeahhh I was seeing some of that in chat earlier and it frustrated me
Yep. I had to duck out cos I knew I was gonna get ragey
People seem to think that we just don't try
Pff, yeah, people love to assume the worst
I wouldn't wish my disabilities on anyone but I do often wish they could experience them for a short space of time
Yeahhh sometimes it feels like they just don't get it
Anyhoo. Bedtime for me. I'm glad there's a channel for these talks, and I hope the Devs take some of what we say on board
Is there a reason why I can't speak in the trading channel?
Me too I am locked out
Did you react to the rules in the pinned post? Also, this channel is for discussing ways to make the game more accessible for disabled players, so you might want to direct questions like this to one of the other help channels in the future.
Not sure where to find that, my apologies
When it said accessibility, I thought this was general access for players/player channels
The rules post is here: #🤝│trading message
I hear that. Been getting picked on by some elitist jerk in the EW channel--I know I have carpal tunnel and all he says is that I got skill issues. 🙄
I wonder if hitting keyboard buttons (WASD) in 2 button sequences would help with fishing? Like action commands?
Example: someone hooks an eel.
The A button flashes--your char reels it in
S flashes-- cutting slack when it jumps
D or W when it weaves
yeah it’s frustrating for people to say “it’s just something that requires more skill” some of us will never be able to develop “more skill”
Skimming back a bit on some of this... would a 'trapper' aesthetic be of any appeal to a degree? Some sort of trap you can set and/or even bait to lure nearby critters to? Considering we have smoke bombs and bits of magic here and there, can probably make a fairly happy vibe 'stun bomb' that could maybe augment damage per shot, or at least keep stationary longer for the hunting.
Considering how clean the game keeps hunting animals, that seems like the easiest simple method to address some of the new hunting challenges. That, or suddenly throw in skill trees or new recipes for making the alternative ammo. ^^;
But good luck for options. >.<
Ooo I do like this
Please my PC broke down and I have tried to play on my switch but hunting is one of my favorites things and decorations as well, but aim with the stick is impossible for meeker and it is also bugged!!!! Please add gyro to the switch I beg you.
Someone with a high position here on discord could ask to solve a problem that I've been having for 8 days, and until now I haven't received an answer.
infinity nikki has that for their fishing system, which is different, but it just moves the problem really
that'd help the "I can't shoot the animals" crowd too, so seems like a solid approach on the surface
Yeah! Like a net arrow or, hell
Arrow fishing
I actually love that idea!
Also for hunting, just a toggle to activate a choosing and locking target would be nice!
They have live action commands in other games
Like FF14 for example
In some cutscenes, they break away from the cutscene and trigger a "Live Action Maneuver"
In one such case, you and others spam the HELL out of your space bar to build up power to block an attack that will end your fight if it connects.
In Palia's case, like I said, a 2 step button push would help.
yeah definitely!
Bow fishing with a line on the arrow to bring it back since we can’t swim.
I would love arrow fishing
About motion sickness : I experience it only IRL but for videogames never, but in Palia I started getting it, I think it's due to the shift of FOV during sprinting. I reduced the "Shaking camera" slide to 0 and it seems to help, the FOV doesn't change much and I stopped having nausea.
Hope it can help others / gives ideas to DEV to accomdate others like me
persistent center reticule helps and then playing with all the graphics settings (including in "Calibrate Screen") until it works for you - the pins have a link to a spreadsheet with some suggested settings (not all of them)
New to the game as a disabled gamer. The first thing I feel in love with was the hunting. The way it was it made me feel like a pro, I knew I wasn't and that it was all the distance/assist helping me out. But it didn't change how it made me feel as a disabled gamer. It was what really pulled me into the game. I got a friend to play who isn't disabled, and it felt like we were both on the same playing field with the way it was set up.
Now it's been removed, I'm completely useless. I can't hunt at all and it's making feel like crap. I've talked about this on Reddit and was met with "get good" and "well there's alternative controllers out there you can buy" - this was said without me sharing my disability. There's even one Reddit (I know reddit is an awful place) going out of their way to invalidate my and other disabled gamer voices.
I know the devs didn't see the impact this would have, but this one change has made me go from loving this game so much (again as a new player I feel in love right away) to actually being made to feel awful about myself. I came in new to the game, had an amazing first week here and now I feel like the rug has been pulled out of under me. I don't even know how this has impacted long term gamers.
And I want to add, I or other disabled gamers shouldn't have to pay extra to play a game when the devs can leave something in the game that works at no extra cost for the gamers.
I know there is some who are fine with this change but isn't there a happy medium? Could they not add a toggle or something so if you want this change you can have it, if you don't then hunting will remain as it were?
(Sorry for my wall of text and rant, someone on reddit suggested I should come here to air)
Something I'd really like to see is a high contrast mode for fishing. I really struggle to see where my fish is sometimes, especially when multiple people are fishing the same spot, like in the underground, and when someone pulls up a chest it's impossible to see anything. When the fish goes behind, say, the dock you're standing on, it goes yellow. Expanding that (with an opt in feature) so it's always outlined in yellow would lead to a lot less frustration for those of us who get sensorial overwhelm
"I or other disabled gamers shouldn't have to pay extra to play a game when the devs can leave something in the game that works at no extra cost for the gamers"
This right here
I've been avoiding fishing so much because of all of this. Especially when there's lots of people around!
I also came here to complain about hunting LOL. Distance hunting wasn't even overpowered since 90% of the time someone would come along and scare off the target anyways. For people who aren't disabled I'm sure it was the same way too. I've lost a lot of motivation to play as hunting was the only thing I enjoyed, and I didn't even make that much money off of it. Now that they've removed it I don't know how I'll be able to get materials from anything other than deer since they all despawn too fast. Really a bummer.
this is one of my issues especially with the new ogopuus — i literally never catch them organically because they disappear off the map before i can finish them off. so im just SOL when i need their stuff for quests i guess?
One thing I discovered is if you get one facing away from you, draw your arrow and you can sneak up on them and get ridiculously close. Then a few hits of a fine arrow and they're done
Especially with the oogys because they turn and spit at you before running so you get extra time
Yeah I don't think this is the game or the community for me
The reaction on reddit (I know it's reddit) from other gamers is bad enough
But I'm sitting here, having the mods only remove my comments and posts, meanwhile people that are opening attacking me get to their have their comments left behind
I haven't been in general chat, what's been going on?
Oh I mispoke, my post wasn't removed but my comments defending myself have been but the perosn attakcing me has been left up
As someone who mods a LARGE subreddit about mental health I know how hard it can be to walk the line between allowing "debate" and removing comments that cross a line. It's easy to be, shall we say, imperfect in that moderation. Idk if there's a way to talk to a mod directly about what you're dealing with
I made a post about the hunting, and called it a bug. Someone made multiple comments coming at me saying I was calling it an accessibility feature, saying I was lying, manipulating words etc
I responded correcting them and pointing out how they didn't bother reading my post and that they spammed me with comments.
Their comemnts got left up, mine has been removed.
Ok well that definitely sounds upsetting, I'm sorry
Huh? Language?
I'm new to the game and this has gone from being very fun to very awful
Something in your last message triggered the automod I guess. It can be easy to do
@inner prism thank you so much for listneing to me and my rant ❤️
I've found the in game community at least to be very amazing and welcoming
Oooh right, that makes sense. I was like "now what have I done?" 😭😂
My friend said Palia fixed hunting at greater than 50 m. I liked being able to hunt like this solo but I thought it was something that might be really helpful for differently abled folks who might not be able to hunt easily. Sad that was removed for folks who might benefit from extra accessibility

Thank you will do. I hope others will as well.
please tell me, if I missed the discount on the suit, is there a chance that the discount on the suit will return in the future?
This is the accessibility channel, but yes it can return sometime
!modmail I would definitely reach out if you feel like the issue has not been totally resolved. I can assure you that the mods wouldn't intentionally keep comments up that should be removed. I'm so sorry you experienced that
Thanks!
I can't help myself: the Eurasian brown bear is scientifically called ursus arctos arctos, which translates to "bear bear bear'' (ursus - Latin for bear, arctos -Greek for bear) 🐻🐻🐻🐻
I am in love with bear bear bear
Can we get a trading chat? Or is there one I’m not seeing?
I will forever refer to the brown bear as a 🐻🐻🐻

I never remember that we can use the ! Commands 😂 love a boomer in a millennials body/brain 🤣
Yeah this was the issue. Thanks everyone that’s why I wasn’t sure if there was a way to get it lol
One of my friends has trouble seeing nodes and sometime can't see the difference between some of them (even sometimes my eyes think a sliver or iron node looks the same to stone. Maybe having a glowing background or how like Plat has it where it sort of wraps around the rock maybe make it similar for the other ones that hold ores.
!feedback will let the devs see it (the link is in the bot's reply). Unfortunately I don't have much advice for workarounds, maybe the different graphics filters can help a bit, in the settings. I forgot where they are, but there are a few options that change what colours look like a little.

Where can I get help on account stuff? I play on my PlayStation but just linked my account to my switch profile as well. However my character isn’t showing up on switch
And I’m trying to create a support ticket via the QR code and when I do, it’s saying there’s an error updating my email address

hey there! the accessibility channel is a place to discuss how users with disabilities interact with the game, suggestions to make the game more accessible, etc. please check out the linked channel for account linking and other technical issues.
Ty
Don't where to put this but, want to delete my toon so I can make a new one, did research and was told it was possible doing it via submitting a ticket though I'm afraid it's gonna go unanswered since it's already been over 15 hours and read horror stories of many of many tickets going not answered or fixed. Wanted to try this game though might be one that'll be shelved due to bad support team.
Best to edit that ticket number out of there, since here is a public channel. Either way, S6 won't see your message here, here's just player-to-player discussion (on accessibility, so support for players with disabilities). 15 hours isn't much, answers can take several days - they even mention on their web page that they're swamped with thickets for the support. Depending on your platform, you might be able to just make a new account, that might be faster than account deletion.
You're gonna need to wait closer to 15 days, friend.
Im not waiting that long and will just make a new account, this should've been a feature from the get go.
Nintendo Store is reporting Palia is Switch 2 Compliant
sounds like account management will be feature

hey there! this channel is about support for players with disabilities. please post things like this in a different one! id:browse
Out of interest do the Devs ever check in on our accessibility chat to see what features the disabled folks are saying might be useful? If not is there a way to submit suggestions or anything?
!feedback The bot has some links for sending feedback to the devs, there's also #📬│feedback-how-to with some info.
They used to occasionally appear here I think, but it's been quite a while since the devs last talked here. How much they read in here is not known.

hi can someone tell why i cant get access to the trading chat
!trading This channel is for discussions about how to make Palia more accessible to players with disabilities. You'll get faster answers to questions like these in any of the other channels. You need to read the rules in the pinned post in the trading channel to gain access.

We do! And also what others have posted, the feedback tool we also keep an eye on. 🙂
Does anyone else struggle to see the fish/bobber sometimes when fishing? I really just could not see where the bobber was just now and I lost the fish 🫠 everything just blended in
Would be amazing if there were a setting to make it more visible 💛
a few people have mentioned that (higher level & further quest progression bobbers help, but that doesn't help get to them) and wanting the yellow silhouette to be something that could be toggled to always on instead of just when the fish is obscured
I have the same issue. Especially in Elderwood, it's really hard to see sometimes with some of the fish there
I've lost many a fish because of this issue.
Not sure if you're in the right channel, wanting the devs to add a plushie doesn't sound like accessibility to me? If you want the devs to see this, info on how to give feedback can be found in #📬│feedback-how-to .
I would love if there was a option to turn off animations on your outfit. Eg. The fire on the ninja outfit. And if you could mute fireworks , would help with sensory issues.
!feedback should be a (partial) option for that in either the june or july updates, but still let them know exactly what you mean

Thank you friend
If you manage to launch the fishing line while standing at a distance from the edge, you will see the fish and the brackets "through" the ground you're standing on. That helps a lot
I noticed the exact same issue, i tried all sorts of settings but found no solution yet besides keeping the sun in your back and trowing the bobber as close to your self as possible...
It's most noticeable in rivers, where the water is polluted.
(I'm currently playing on Epic GFX settings)
I totally agree with you that the feature to delete your char to create a new one should be a core functionality from the start.
I hope you are using the stand-alone client where you login using email and password, otherwise you might not be able to create a new account...
(The Steam and Epic-Games-Launcher versions do not have the option to choose a different account...)
That said, it's actually not needed to create a new account, because you can build your character, and play, the way you like.
There is no fixed class selection.
The only reason to re-create your account would be your char's Name and gender, visual can be adjusted ingame using https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Wardrobe
The Wardrobe is where the Player can customize their characters Hair, Outfits, Makeup, and Glider.
The Wardrobe can be accessed in a number of locations:
Changing Room at Tailor shop in Kilima Village
Wardrobe next to barn at the Fairgrounds
Changing Room at Central Stables (Bahari Bay)
Any Wardrobe...
The name can't be changed in-game, actually.
And the new character would help with stuff like tutorials and introductions appearing again, which you can't do normally.
The name can't be changed in-game, actually.
I didn't say that could be changed in-game, only the visual can be.
Maybe it's a grammatical difference of interpretation on your side, note the comma 😉
No need to nitpick language over clarifying info. I took your text to mean that both the name and body shape that you/others see can be adapted, which is not the case. So actually, it wasn't the comma, it was the meaning of the word "visual" in your sentence.
No problem i bet it is now clear to all readers....
Happy road map day, time to see if/how accessibility is mentioned
