I'm not sure how Elderwood feels, but I know in Kilima and Bahari, it didn't feel like I needed a mount at all. The fast travel boards helped, a lot, for me.

They probably couldn't properly fix the Paid Feature fully, without doing an actual maintenance-- which usually requires notifying the platforms (xbox, ps5, switch) ahead of time? so that might of not been possible in this amount of time

Just my guess. That said, I hope it'll be fixed in the next patch regardless, because that's super important and needed.

Because our minds are decieved into liking the fast travel from the get go, but we would much more enjoy the immersiveness of mounts. Fast travel is the devil of all open world games. I can admit the maps are not big enough to necessarily need a mount, but the whole idea to ride anything, horse, dragon or cow, would be very satisfying

If I remember when the game originally released in beta people asked about mounts and we never got an answer so I don't know why we would get one now

Fast travel is honestly very nice for me, and helps me get to specific areas a bit faster. The maps also feel very small (for me) when it comes to mounts. I'm used to larger areas, like.. in WoW or FF14 for example, where it def feels needed.

I just don't feel like that is here, currently, in palia. At least, with Kilima and Bahari. Not sure in Elderwood.

I genuinely would much prefer a minimap.

Bonus points if you could find a, for example, a fawn of a Sernuk, raise it to adulthood, and have that be your mount.

in WoW Draenor, they had something sorta similar. You'd capture an animal, and raise it up to be a mount later on. It was relatively basic, but I can see something similar working in Palia. But again, something I wouldn't want (personally) until there's more bigger maps.

Cake parties are still pretty good! I'd recommend joining in as either spreader or baker, since those are free roles and baking only requires a bit of timing.

Leafer is also a good option if you've got a stack of sweet leaf.

Here we go. Getting called out for taking advantage of something that was not intentional in the game. Trying to call someone a toddler. You might need to talk someone. I wish you luck in your endeavors. This game is a community game that is meant to be played out over a long period of time. Meant to keep you engaged by taking time to roam its vast lands and gather things at a reasonable pace. Not blow through it because you took advantage of an exploit. It does gain the advantage for you. The money gained means resources can be bountiful for you and then you do not have to forage. Therefore taking gameplay out and you can continue to do things at a faster than intended rate.

correct, it's a community game and they just patched out something that was fostering community in a silly and fun way! also like.. it actually doesn't matter lmao people are gonna farm money and grind the game as fast as possible anyways. most people would be way more engaged for longer if it didn't feel like trudging through mud to accomplish anything due to their dogwater drop rates and peanuts for value on most items and activities. this is the first time i personally have touched the game in like 7 months bc it fell off and felt more like a chore than a game the more i played, and i KNOW i'm not the only person who feels this way/stopped playing for long periods

At no point do I say this affects me. Rather from a developers standpoint. Time was taken to create all this for you to enjoy. To have something like this take Advantage of. Does not help in the gameplay and flow of what has been done. The game is meant to take time and force you to wait because it’s free. The more they keep you in and drawn in to doing tasks the possibility of you buying cosmetics goes up.

the problem is that the slowness doesn't benefit their retention. so many people i know stopped playing bc they found it to be a task, myself included. they don't even need to make it rapid pace but at least make it feel slightly less like waiting for paint to dry

a lot of people feel/felt the same way as you do. most left, i stopped playing the game back in september and only just came back to active play with the ew update. the update, to me was "good" but then palia again seems to fall back to the put it on a shelf for a while and then return at the next big thing

At first I thought it was cute, but now? It’s a joke, I love palia so much but making everything in the elderwoods bought by essence and in order to get more essence I need to use my essence to make essence infected arrows, lures and bug bombs, and then I’ll use those to hunt and catch fish and bugs for essence which I’ll then need to use that essence to get more essence? I have the amulet on that gives me more essence when I hunt and catch bugs and it’s maxed but even then it’s not enough whatsoever

I've had explain the various coin shaped items a few times because 1) there are so many 2) the names aren't intuitive

To get more essence you need to use your essence to hunt catch bugs and fish for essence

I’m still so bothered about the currency in the maji market and the lunar new year market, when we finally got the dates for the most recent markets every body joined together to make as much gold as possible only to actually get to the markets and realise it was an entirely new currency, I wanted all the food items started so I could place them around my plot and it would be super cute and give a fast food lazy homey vibe, and then the fact that you had to buy a ton of each food item to get at least 1 starred was just the cherry on top

I wouldn’t have minded the change in currency if the things we bought where starred and could actually be placed, but when that wasn’t the case it felt like a punch in the face, play these mini games to get a limited amount of tickets each time to buy… focus food.

Tbh palia does crash, have log in issues, and lag pretty bad like PalCat said, my friend that plays said it’s been like that since being introduced to console. I’m sure they’ll fix it but in the meantime it’s not unusual and I don’t think you were hacked since that would mean you probably couldn’t get on your account for whichever platform you’re using. If anything you may have been ddossed but that too is doubtful because of how regular what you’ve described is. You can always check about any shady activity through your internet provider tho. They typically will let you know when you’re being targeted if you ask.

Flow tree groves spawn in bahari bay at midnight in game time and players often launch a flare where it is and wait til around 3am game time to chop together, so if you can find the grove that will help you with flow wood.

Energized piranhas are found in Kilima rivers, any time of day using regular worms as bait, they are classified as a rare creature. Make sure that you are fishing in the bubble spots (I like the spots behind the inn) to get the star quality fish

I have been getting every bubble spot and no luck on the start so far but I was able to catch two regular in a row and then a couple minutes ago another one but I still have not been able to catch a starred one

we used to have speedy grow as a boost from crops, but it constantly broke and made things worse, so it was removed. Now it only exists as fertilizer mainly to complete a quest

Fishing is harder, not just in new areas, but across the board. Climbing is more broken than ever. There's fog everywhere. Distance shots to hunt seem like they need to be farther now, but that could just be the diminished visibility.

Large beginner mining nodes now have higher tool requirements, making it harder to upgrade to get the higher tool requirement.

There are tutorial problems.

That isn't exactly what they mean. Having a grind that's like, earning or working towarsd a goal, that's completely different. But a lot of the grinds in Palia, has been the same thing over and over, to things that doesn't feel.. like a goal? Like getting the same fish over and over, for example. Working on quests are different, as long as there's some variety (imo)

Or if youre trying to get a plush, you have to hit the same thing over and over, which ends up feeing way too repetitive. Some folks have spent weeks, or even months, trying to get it without luck.

There's barely any community activities, and some people want that, too. THere's a little, but not a lot.

And some folks, like myself, want to work towards a goal-- like, something earnable. That I can showcase on my character (not on my plot). So when I run around, I can show that achievement. Nameplates are a step forward in that direction, but doesn't quite hit the mark.

I hope I explained that properly. My mind kinda... started to feel like a loading screen part-way through lol

And I want to also note, I don't know much about EW currently because I haven't played due to accessibility reasons. (Plus, I don't have Main Story up to that point, since im blocked bc im stuck at Gales still.)

You either grind to get more things to store on a plot that someone might look at one day or join parties to just interact with people to keep the game intresting. Once you complete everything, it feels like we just grind to save up gold and materials for the next update and hope the content lasts longer than a few days

Im used to playing games that have repetitive aspects but also have pvp to them... so the idea to grind is to eventually use those items in a pvp aspect, like WoW or Ragnarok Online

Yeah, most folks who talk about this stuff, they're not wanting it to be achievable immediately, but at least something that feels like they can achieve.

It's sort of why I wish like, the Plushies, for example, you work up a "pity" or "bad luck" threshold-- after a while, either it drops, or... my other idea, was youre farming for a specific material or resource a lot, and you can use those to "turn in" to get the plush.

That way it still has a grind, but doesn't feel so bad or as repetitive.

The core concept was a game that would allow for flexible gameplay as content was fed into the narrative story in regular updates. Instead we have a bit of a mess. Things were pushed out before they were ready, causing a tidal wave of bugs they can't keep up with. Instead of being allowed to 'play how we want' as we were promised, we've been bottlenecked into linear to-do lists that require us to participate in skills we aren't interested in just to unlock gatekept content. Meanwhile, they seem more determined to distract us with plushies than give us higher relationship tiers or some side quests. We waited nearly 2 years for this update, and it is missing large chunks of game mechanics that are standard to other areas. It's unfinished. Underbaked. Don't get me wrong. I'm glad it's here and I like a lot of it, but it we're playing catch-up again. Things are broken again. There's just things they should be doing more efficiently, and because of that I don't think it was wise to launch on new platforms and let this be the first impression for so many people.

We were told fish would be more difficult to catch in EW, but I've seen a drastic change in rod health across the entire game, and now require buffs to barely catch fish I used to catch rather easily.

Several changes have been made to make early gameplay more difficult. My guess is that they're trying to keep the new players from speedrunning content, but what they've done is make the new player experience more frustrating, more grindy, and less fun.

We used to have an entire Kilima Village tutorial where you could run around and meet NPCs at your own pace. You were limited to only having the axe while you learned, but I think it prepared us better for the rest of the game than being ejected immediately to the housing plot and not being allowed to leave until you've destroyed the resources that won't grow back in your yard. There is also a chance you'll get the tutorial previous to this newest one, and then you get your bow and rod in the mail , but all the build requirements are different and the NPCs are in completely different places. They give you different tasks. Now when I help a new player I have to open with 'Did you build a tent or fix up a house when you started?'

I think I hadn't noticed much before when hunting with a friend because we'd snipe them with slowdown arrows? But yeah, definitely noticeable now and from shorter distances

Decorating/Glitching's alright - nothing much has really changed with the expansion [at least so far]
& Unless the Elderwoods Armchair/Couch or Wardrobe is hiding something. Those 2 sets are some of the most limiting design wise that S6 have come out with in a long time. Between the entirety of the 2 sets they only have 2?... maybe 3 tabletop items. the rest are either floor placement or worse yet, ground & they've stopped putting placeable surfaces on things like the swing, or mermaid chair, etc. So they are obviously intentionally trying to make them shenanigan proof while not realizing that people were also using those surfaces for non-shenanigan decorating. Like making tea party plush displays :/

But sry mermaid lovers... you're going to have to get real creative if you want to make that set up

Along with that... well... I'm an Architect more than a decorator... & this expansion had nothing for that so...

No one is sure why some people have an issue and some don't. The problem has been going on since the Steam launch, which was well over a year ago. Some say if you keep trying it will eventually tick, but going to go battle the RNG on that seems about as frustrating as the RNG everywhere else.

Well tried it on Steam, 3 times on Playstation and 1 time on Switch. Gonna try it in a few from the standalone OG launcher. But i think it's something with the trigger of the achievement in game, cause once you get it in game, it will check up for PS trophy and Steam achievement. I got 50 tropihies all together on PS once i logged in 😄 Just got the 3 others i didn't had before (lunar cook and makeshift) cause i got them yesterday while playing. And only the scholar is left.

When i came back to Palia i didn't have the Scholar of water too. But i went in, read the first tablet to the left. It unlocked in game and i got the steam achievement instantly. I assume if someone from the dev team is reading, they should make a quick look of connections to the Scholar of the Flame achievements and stuff.

I just want my pekis to be walking around, maybe with a "pet" interaction. You put their food into a Coop structure and collect eggs there, but the pekis roam around unless fenced in

With all the different landscapes they've added, I really don't think they can have a ranch field like people said they had in Alpha. I feel like it'd be smart to have some requirements for the skill- level 20 gardening, unlock 3 home plots. So that it's obtainable, but not thrust at players still learning the game.

Give the chicken coop and barn a placement barrier that's larger than the visible structure to ensure the animals have room to walk, but once placed you can place things close to the coop/barn. Almost like table rules, if that makes sense?

There was much excitement, for Reth frequently vaunted his famous lettuce soup. Here was it's beginning! But when planted, it was noted that the lettuce looked strange. Grey and spikey, like it was not yet meant for this world. Players diligently tended their gardens, hoping the lettuce would soon take on a verdant hue. But alas, it remained grey, right up to the moment that it could be pulled from the fields.
Some players made seeds, hoping that in time, the blighted crop would appear healthy, but it was not to be. A year has passed, and the humans still wait for a chance to make their own soup... 🥬

This has been an issue since pre-alpha.

From what I understand the game is attempting to render entire player avatars from the community list / friends list the entire time you're online, which leads to massive lag.
