The Story So Far:
A long time ago, in a Palia far far away...
Jokes aside, with our newest wave of invites your eagerness to join us hugged our servers to death. As I like to say 'server went kablooey'. Our servers began degrading and causing those load time issues + stuttering you may have experienced.
This didn't affect every player, but a significant amount, so we decided to pull the plug on all our servers to prevent them from spiraling to death.
We've stemmed that flow, and we're currently working on bringing our servers back up. We still don't have a solid ETA, but we will be providing more updates when we have them. Send devs your energy so they can work faster.

What is this hotfix addressing?
💥 Fixed some instances of crashing.
🔄 The Shipping bin is now providing accurate guidance on when you will receive your gold - you must visit your housing plot to receive gold from shipped items!
💬 Special items like the Founder's Windmill and Plushes can no longer be accidentally gifted to NPC's.
📝 Fishing and gardening accomplishments are now tracking correctly.
🍅 You can now harvest tomatoes as expected.
We appreciate all the reports we received in these, and continue to investigate other top hits like "can't move my treasure chests". We're on the case! (No pun intended?)

We've seen a few questions following the hotfix - here's what we can share:

What caused the merging housing plot issue? On the day this issue occurred there was a rollback of a patch. We believe a small subset of player progress was impacted during this event which lead to the issue you are experiencing today.

I would like to request my character to be deleted to workaround some progress loss issues - will I lose my character name, Founder's Windmill, or Refer-A-Friend items? Part of the Player Support process is to note down the items you have (regarding the Founder's Windmill and Refer-A-Friend items) before deleting the character. All other items will unfortunately be reset. Character names cannot be secured, so the PS Team's initial response will include a confirmation of this with you.

Do I need to open a separate ticket for claiming my lost Founder's Windmill or Refer-A-Friend items? There's no need for a separate ticket! That will be included in the above character deletion request process with Player Support.

This hotfix includes:
- 🍯 Fixed game crashes caused when using the Honey Lure
- 🎐Removed the seemingly random "chime" sound that plays throughout Kilima Village and Maji Market
- 🔪 Improved clarity for some cooking subrecipes that included mentions of ingredients not in the game
- 🛋️ Disabled "F to interact" prompts for certain décor items that were not actually functional
⚠️ We are also aware there may be some issues with the chat, and will be investigating.
Please note, our main target was to address the honey lure crash, though we also decided to include some other quick fixes as well! The team is working hard to address the issues reported to us by the community, but there are many reasons why some fixes may arrive sooner than others. Thanks for understanding. 🙇

Tomorrow, <t:1694100600:f> (*this time is local to you!) we will be rolling out a hotfix to address some early feedback and bug fixes for Maji Market, particularly the Chapaa Chase. 
This hotfix will include:
Chapaa Chase Updates
- More Chapaas now spawn at the beginning of the mini-game.
- 50% more Chapaas now spawn per wave, and with 20% more frequency.
- Increased the size of the spawn zones, and added more of them.
- Added 1 additional Chapaa Chase ticket for every Chapaa rescued per each player actively chasing Chapaas during that session. So if a whole group captures 100 total Chapaas, each player who captures at least 1 will get 100 extra tickets.

- Placing items on the Porch housing add-on no longer causes them to be moved somewhere else on the plot.

📣 0.168 Emerging Known Issues

Some menus are not currently closing with the ESC button.
Multicrafting XP only applies to one item when crafting batches of furniture and decor.
- This is not intended, and will be fixed in a future update.
Framerate has been set to Unlimited by default in your settings.
- You can update your settings to your preferred framerate; However, while your settings changes will apply, the UI will still show as Unlimited.
- This is a separate issue from other performance and lag issues, which are currently being investigated.
** The time it takes to cast out your fishing line has been increased, and the camera pan when reeling your fish in has been slowed.**
- This change is intended, and was made based on player feedback regarding accessibility. The camera also no longer moves to the right as you reel your fish in, as that caused the rod to briefly block the reticle.
The “Collect the Flowstone near an exit” step in the quest “Plumehound Pilgrimage” is hard to complete as the item may not appear as expected.
- This seems to affect only certain players.
Upon login, you will receive an unexpected “Items Disabled” message.
- The message reads: "Items Disabled. One or more of your clothing items needed some mending. You've changed into another outfit for the time being."
- Please note: There are no changes to your outfits or items. This message is also not intended for a future mending feature. It is an error message created for possible situations where there might be an issue with a clothing item that needs to be disabled.
We are actively working on the issue of server instability and lag.
This is especially noticeable upon login, when changing servers, and placing items.

- ♻️ Items that may have gone missing as a result of issues such as with the Hallway add-on will now return - they will appear right at the front of your housing plot, so please don’t be alarmed if you see a clutter of items suddenly appear there!
- 🎞️ We have tuned some graphics settings for better frame rate improvements.
- 💎 You can now properly collect the Flowstone located by the exit in the "Plumehound Pilgrimage" Quest!
- 👗 Players should no longer receive an error message indicating their clothing needs to be mended at login.
- 🪴 Grass should no longer peek through your gardening plots or other decor placed on the ground in your housing plot.
- 🔥 You should now be able to offer whole heatroot instead of chopped heatroot for the Fire Temple bundle.
- 🧑🍳 The Cooking UI should no longer disappear while cooking.
- 🧑🌾 We have doubled the amount of seeds that corn and spicy peppers give you, bringing them more in line with the other fruits and vegetable seed values.
We wanted to also call out a fix-that-turned-into-an-unintentional-buff: **
Multicrafting will now award XP for every crafted item, however, multicrafting furniture you have never crafted **before now gives too much XP.
This will be corrected in a future hotfix or full patch, but we wanted to be clear in advance that this is unintentional and we are aware of it.
We know these fixes do not address every issue players are seeing and we are still looking into a number of them, including but not limited to:
- The ongoing issues with achievements, including Maji Market stamp cards.
- The ESC button does not consistently exit out of menus.
- The lag spikes that players are experiencing, especially while moving furniture or cooking at their homesteads.

- Edit, September 18th, 7:00pm PT: We are now aware that the Emberborn Recipe intended to drop from one of the Temple of the Flames bundles is not dropping. Our developers are aware and working to fix this as soon as possible. We will share more details when they are available!
- 🔥 Temple of the Flames bundles no longer complete prematurely when all other sub-bundles have 1 item completed.
- 🪑 Multicrafting at the Workbench now awards the correct amount of XP for all decor and furniture items crafted.

- The Housing Lag issue in particular is a priority for us to fix, but it will take some time to get it right. While we likely won't see this in our first hotfix for 0.169, we are committed to getting this fixed by 0.170.
- Even though the lag issue is proving to be tougher to conquer, there are other fixes we know will improve the quality of life for our Palians. A hotfix is incoming, likely within the next few days. We are working on a timeline and list of included fixes and we hope to have that for you soon.

📣 0.170 Emerging Known issues
Hi, Palians! We are actively investigating these emerging issues from 0.170:
- Different instances of the mouse or UI disappearing, or affecting the way the camera moves.
- The Koi Pond decor is visually broken, showing grass spilling into the water and the water being shifted slightly “up”.
- When running the Obstacle Course, players are being bounced back to the beginning after passing the 3rd book near the tilted mushrooms.
- The Disciple and Stately Sage cosmetics are missing textures on one half of the outfit.
- Some reported issues of insects disappearing into surrounding terrain when trying to catch them.
- Some reports of the Request System UI being empty, or reset, until picking up items from chests.
- Porches/doors/fireplaces still count if players try to add them after you reach the 15 room add-on limit.
- As a work around, if players pick up 1 building they should be able to continuously add more of these assets that cost 0.
And now for the Elephant in the room hallway: Hallways still contribute to the building limit on your housing plot, and that is intended to remain. This miscommunication was on the CM team side when we wrote the patch notes - it’s our fault. We misread a ticket, got excited, and we’re incredibly sorry. We promise to be more diligent when checking our sources in the future. 🙏

and Stately Sagecosmetics are missing textures on one half of the outfit. Update: It is only the Disciple outfit, but some confusion was caused from pieces of the oufit being mixed and matched. - Some reported issues of insects disappearing into surrounding terrain when trying to catch them.
- Some reports of the Request System UI being empty, or reset, until picking up items from chests.
- Porches/doors/fireplaces still count if players try to add them after you reach the 15 room add-on limit. As a work around, if players pick up 1 building they should be able to continuously add more of these assets that cost 0.
NEW:
- Obstacle Course: Periodically, moving tiles will "desync" their position.
- Placing food inside pantries is inconsistent, especially with food in bowls.
- The FOV slider is sometimes causing an "Ultra Zoom" perspective.
- The Dragon Shrine chest does not appear as expected after interacting with all 4 incense shrines.
- The "Will You Be My Shepp?" prompt commonly disappears. Relogging may help.
- Text for "Fishing Cast Speed" reads: Controls the volume for all audio in game.

Character Customization in Jel’s Shop
- If a player has updated their style in the Wardrobe of Jel’s Shop, and then interacts with Jel’s Mirror, the character customization cooldown may be triggered. This can occur even if changes have not been made to the character's appearance.
- In some instances (particularly when using a controller), players will customize their character, then back out of the Mirror without selecting the “Commit” button. However, they will find the customization still commits to their character.
We had found a fix for the first issue, and will be including it in a future update!
For the second issue, please continue to submit tickets to Player Support. Any information you provide, including whether you are using a controller or keyboard, will be very helpful in our investigation!
Quest Improvements
- Some players were not receiving the Ancient Battery quest, in addition to a few other quests, from Jina. Many of these accounts have been fixed. If you wre one of the players previously effected, you will receive some surprise mail!

Our devs have indeed stopped poking at the chappaa this evening, but I wanted to highlight some of our top known issues emerging from this downtime, which may impact your gameplay:
- The esc menu is quite laggy (still).
- The main menu is also laggy, especially when navigating quests.
- The esc menu does not seem to be saving any changes you, the player, makes. This means sound, graphics, and other settings are not properly saving, causing people who cannot play on higher settings to be unable to play.
We are going to be jumping right back in again as soon as the rooster (do roosters exist in Palia 
) crows! We appreciate your patience with us while we experience these bugs together tonight. ❤️

Hi all! We’re tracking these emerging known issues for 0.175:
- There are no snowballs for purchase in the seasonal store. 😭
- While we wait for our stock of snowballs to arrive, we’re granting every player 100 snowballs to tide you over. These will be available in your NEWS tab upon logging back into Palia.
- The snowballs come in stacks of 10, so make sure you have 10 free slots in your inventory to claim them!
- Some players are not receiving the Temple of the Gales quests after getting letters from Elouisa and Caleri.
- Climbing on vines and surfaces in the Temple of the Gales is notably janky.
- Some players are stuck in Eshe’s anniversary party cutscene. If this has happened to you, please file a support ticket - instructions are below!
- Some players are getting a popup that says their clothing needs to be repaired upon logging in. This error message is a false alarm and should not affect your gameplay whatsoever.

This is a message that’s been meaning to get out sooner, but better late than never, am I right?
We’re aware of ongoing issues regarding cross-server communications and travel/syncing experiences.
This has been a big issue we’ve been tackling behind the scenes and will continue to look into as one of our top priorities. That said, as mentioned in our Message from the Studio section in our 0.175 Patch Notes, we are going into Winter Break at the studio, so traction will be slow for the time being as our devs rest up!

Hi folks! After identifying an issue relating to the Floating Lantern Firework, we have adjusted the price from 125 → 250 Lucky Envelopes in the Maji Market Fireworks store (aka Najuma's booth).

Mel and the rest of the team that worked super-dupes hard to get this patch out are resting up.
We're aware of these emerging top known issues:
- Various server instability regarding travel failures, inability to connect, or even full crashes
- The model for shells are now...green cylinders on the beach. Oops!
- Soy Sauce is not available at Zeki's store as intended
- THE MUUJIN ARE MISSING. But I added this new emoji hehehe
- The textures for the Ormuu Enthusiast outfit have been changed, but this is not intentional. We are looking to fix things and apologize for the mix-up. As a temporary measure, this outfit has been removed from the premium store.
Rest assured, we'll be at it with feedback and issues as they are raised to us~ Make sure to use official channels so it gets properly organized and filtered to the team.

Hey, Palians! We’ve rolled out the update that “disables” Tool Skins, and you might temporarily lose connection; but you should be able to log-in immediately after.
In truth, your Tool Skins are not disabled. However, your Tool Skin will reset to default each time you travel between zones, and other players will not be able to see your equipped Tool Skin.
This should prevent any critical crashes associated with the Tool Skin bug, and we should have a fix and ready for patch 0.185, where we plan to re-enable Tool Skins. 🎣

Wanted to share an update regarding the housing plot issue that may affect some players PC players.
If you swap one of your plots, you might notice that items appear out of place or randomly scattered when you open the “H” menu.
Don’t worry! This is only temporary. Just restart Palia, and your layout will return to normal. If you move or edit an item while your layout looks funky, only that item’s new position will be saved. Everything else will revert back to its correct spot when you relog.
We’re working on a more permanent fix that may require a hotfix, so thank you for your patience as we work through.
Once again, If your decor looks off, just exit the game and load back in.

Howdy Palians,
We wanted to bring your attention to two high-profile bugs introduced in Patch 0.192.
As many of you are aware, Patch 0.192 brought the change that stops trees on one plot from counting towards the decor limit on all plots - we know you’ve been asking for this forever. This required rewriting some of the fundamentals of how the housing plot works, which is why it’s taken a while to get here.
Problem is sometimes when you change really old stuff you get some unintended consequences:
Decor Jumbling
Some folks (especially those who use some more *creative *plot decorating techniques) may have logged into 0.192 with a bit of a fright to find their plots to be a bit… disorganized. Higgledy-piggledy, if you will. We’re happy to say this is temporary and is fixed by relogging, and that players shouldn’t be concerned with interacting with these plots as normal. We just want folks to know that their hard work is safe, and the issue should be resolved next week.
Too Many Chests
There is currently an issue where you can only have 8 Storage Chests total across all plots instead of 8 Chests per plot. This means a lot of folks are finding they can’t place their shiny new Palium Storage down after picking up an Iron Storage to craft, due to having more than 8 Storage Chests across their other plots. This will be fixed in the next update, but until then there are two main options to work around this:
- Go across your plots and pick up chests until you have less than 8 total. This solves the issue but is obviously pretty unideal for a variety of reasons.
- Leave all your chests where they are until the next update.
Obviously both these options are not great, and we are really sorry for the frustration this will cause.
Hopefully the transparency is helpful, and we appreciate your patience as we work to resolve these frustrations.

- Adjustments to Snowy Skitterer Bundle Drops
Bundle Decor Recipes are now guaranteed to drop next.
If players do not yet have the Snow Covered recipe, it will drop first.
The following Bahari and Kilima rummage will then drop the Snow Covered item recipe. (||Kilima: Snow Pavilion - Bahari: Snowy Parasol||)
||Snow Pavilion: To acquire the Snow Pavilion, Players must acquire the recipe for the Cozy Camp Canope - found via Inspiration of the Cozy Camp Set. Once you have the recipe, the next Kilima rummage pile you loot will guarantee the drop of the Snow Pavilion recipe.
Snow Umbrella: If players do not have Summer Stripe Umbrella Recipe, the Bahari Rummage Pile will give them the recipe on their next loot of the Bahari Rummage Pile. Then, the next Bahari Rummage pile that is looted will deliver the player the Snowy Parasol recipe. ||

Starting today, updated server merge features are being introduced to improve overall stability and performance of game servers in Palia. As game servers (of any type in any game) age, they begin to experience performance issues, leading to deteriorating player experiences (bugs, lag, disconnects) that many of you have likely encountered in Palia.
When this happens, as silly as it sounds, the only real solve is to reset that server - turn it off and back on. And without getting too deep on the tech, in Palia there are many instances of each map on the same machine, and sometimes even if your map isn’t experiencing issues there are other maps and players on the same machine that are. Server merging is a set of features we’ve developed to facilitate this and improve the quality of Palia overall.
In practice, for many players, moving servers doesn’t cause many issues, but for folks that are engaged in particular activities (e.g. cooking parties, big party Plush hunting) we know these merges can be a meaningful frustration. At the end of the day, we need to conduct these merges for the health of everyone playing Palia, but we also know we need to find better ways to help people that want to do these big group experiences. We don’t have anything to share yet on this front, but it’s an ongoing priority that we know we need to solve.
In the meantime, starting in Patch 0.200, you’ll be able to see the age of the server you’re on in the settings menu. We recommend players who want to do large parties all join the friend with the freshest server to have as much time as possible before a server merge might occur. This is in addition to the other improvements we’ve made, such as optimizations decreasing how often you’ll experience a merge, overall improvements to UX, and minimizing loading screens.

- We found where all the Star Quality Sillyfins were... Jaakcats appear to have a taste for them. All Jaakcats now have a chance to drop Star Quality Sillyfins.
