@languid saddle I don't know if it's okay for me to tag you, but if it's allowed I'd like to ask you to take a look at this
If it's not allowed to tag you, I apologize and will delete this tagged message
How do you change the bobber? I didn’t even know that was an option lol
I wish you could zoom in more on the map! I have chronic migraines and it’s so hard for me to read the map and squinting/straining my eyes is a trigger for me 😣
Honestly same. Not the same but, back when I had astigmatism, I'd have to squint at the game a lot, even when wearing my glasses, which ended up giving me massive headaches. A UI slider/zoom function would be so helpful.
drag your preferred bobber into this slot
Thanks!
This might not be a viable option, but I wish there was a way we can adjust the settings for the brightness of the flow trees. I have terrible motion sickness and whenever I am charging for a flow tree party I always have to take breaks since I feel like I have to ||puke||. The sound the tree makes it worse, but thankfully there are sound settings to negate that.
Yeah It'd be nice if flow trees, honey lures, grove glow, bloom glow, and bounce glow could be toggled to static instead if animated too
If you’ve experienced or know how/where fireworks are being set off in the Underground, please ping me in #🤝│game-help
We’d love details on where you aim to set them off/how it’s happening. Normal behavior is that they go into the ceiling after deployment, but we're investigating how they are able to be set off for some users. That is unintended. Screenshots or videos are greatly appreciated.
I mean, is the ceiling even that high in the underground? It might just be because there's so many being set off in one place. And even then, if it's just a little bit of the particle on screen, that isn't okay. They just shouldn't be enabled in the underground, and same goes for honeylures.
There's a reason why folks also ask people to not shoot off fireworks during/after cooking parties (or if anything, use them outside instead... still not great, accesibility wise, but it's still better). It's a confined space, so a lot of that will just appear on screen.
Unless, youre meaning literally go into the ceiling, like to where they are just gone until going into the sky? Bc if that's the case, it has never behaved that way, as far as I remember.
I am not affected by fireworks and lures that way, but I have looked around online for info about etiquette in Palia when I really got into the game more recently and I have never seen anything relating to the underground being a lure/firework free zone? If nobody knows or is sharing this info around, how is it supposed to be a safe area? I have set off a firework there and it bounced off the floor and went into the ceiling and created an afterimage of light
It's not about etiquette, it's about it being a literal health hazard because of how bright multiple fireworks and lures can get in such a small area.
The point is that it just doesn't make any sense for fireworks being able to be set off or lures to be placed in the underground. Players started doing so to seemingly grief hotpot matches.
yeah, people/myself are just saying that it should be something that S6 themselves should disable that function in the underground. like palcat said, it's a literal health hazard-- to where it could give folks headaches/migraines/etc, or even worse, seizures.
Well, yes, obviously, if you read this thread that becomes quickly apparent, it is an obvious health risk, but who knew that Palia didnt have settings to allow for those with these issues?!? I wouldnt have realised without reading this, but who is going to read this thread if they dont have accessibility needs?
I honestly don't get your point. I myself don't have photosensitivity issues, but I wouldn't have thought or attempted to spam fireworks in the UG.
Even for friends who also don't have these issues, it's eye straining.
My point is that in this situation the etiquette sections should have something that says don't set of fireworks etc in the underground because it is being used as a safe space for those with seizure issues, I am just saying that it doesn't, bc it seemed to me from the discussion above that ppl seemed to expect other players to know or be aware of this and it isnt anwhere i have seen.
It's literally not about etiquette though. Etiquette are player made rules, not actual rules enforced by the game.
What people are discussing here is how it affects them and expecting S6 to do something about it because people will be people, inevitably.
But there are no real etiquette section or rules. That's just somethign the playerbase talks about, and even the onse that ppl think is "common", people miss and don't know about.
Other than that, folks have been also talking in pal-gen and pal-discussions about these issues on and off as well. Ofc, not everybody on the game is in discord or even frequent those channels, but ti does get talked about outside of this channel, too.
We're just wanting and hoping S6 does something about it and disables it. We have also been asking for the mto have a toggle to disable vfx, fireworks, etc, as a whole since closed beta.
If it isnt eye straining for everyone those it doesnt affect wouldnt realise, I was just pointing out it isnt obvious for ppl in case that was info you didnt have.
Even if it's liek this? #💬│palia-discussions message /gen
Edit: (^ image there isnt spoilered, so be wary. it's bright)
oh absolutely, I would assume any game would have safety features that were adjustable for those with different needs, it is a surprise to me that they dont, but then again, things are not so surprising to me anymore
oh. yeah. dont mind me. that is obviously aH behaviour
While I understand part of your point, honestly, I don't know why you're so hung up on it. Like yes, sure, for some people it's not going to be as much of an issue. But that's why people are asking S6 themselves to fix it.
At this point it's hard to tell players who do it maliciously or not, and it seems the original intent of some is to not let hotpot players see their tiles.
Like in the sc Ori sent above.
Me and my friends have purposely triggered something like that on one of their plots, by jumping on towers of chests.
But I think what fairy is trying to say is the larger playerbase may not be aware they are hurting people and just having fun. This stuff needs to be delt with at the dev level and be dissabled or get a VFX toggle
Yeah, this is kind of the thign we're talking about. I'm not sure if it's that severe when it's just 1 firework or not, but it seems like that's multiple.
I am not hung up on it, i was just trying to feedback that despite searching out ettiquette info because some of us spicy ppl need a little extra info, I had not come across this as a point and I even tried setting off a firework underground in case in triggered a quest i hadnt found. which now upsets me coz i didnt know. But, since i only looked in the last couple of months, I was trying to feedback up to date info on what players were seeing when looking for the unwritten social rules of the game that other players might see as obvious.
And definitely, there might be folks wh odon't know and are just trying to have fun, but when it's multiple things going on like that in the underground ... I don't know. Stuff that people should do with friends, not to strangers.
And even then, I can still understand. Might be younger folks and the like, you know? I remember with the snowball, ppl genuinely was just having fun, until poeple would ask them to stop, and when I/we started talking about it a lot over discord. (Still glad the snowball flashbang is fixed). But I know there have been cases where folks have asked ppl to stop shooting fireworks at them, and they just... don't, or continue & target them. It isnt often, but it does happen, and it's unfortunate.
I can say at least for myself, and I'm sure this is the case for others, we don't' mind if people do it and they don't know. Esp if it's just once. But it just always hits different when it's multiple times, targeted, or like above. And even then, again, at least for me, I usually blame S6 for not disabling the feature or giving us toggles, esp since we've been asking for so long.
edit: fixed typos
That's why we're asking for S6 to deal with it, simply because it shouldn't even happen really. Prior to this, I wouldn't even have thought it was possible.
I'm also 'spicy' and autistic, so I totally understand not knowing something or even just doing something to have fun. Sometimes doing things even by habit (example: jumping a lot. Huge habit of mine, but i know some folks have asked others to not do this in palia, for example, for various reasons). So, I do get it. And it's again, why I don't really blame the players (unless theyre doing it maliciously, ofc), and moreso blame S6, yeah.
Well I wld def support more options for dealing with sensory effects 👍 . I just wish I had seen something about fireworks and light issues when i was looking for that kind of info🤷 so as not to cause anyone problems inadvertantly. ❤️
Friendly reminder for the collective to discuss the idea and not the person to keep things respectful 💜
Yeah; I don't think anybody is expecting ppl to know right away. We're just discussing the issues we've had with the game itself, and hoping for it to be better
I’m still perplexed on why this would be a fun thing to do
maybe I’m just “old” lol
Tbh the only reason I can see someone wasting things like lures in the underground is because they want to be a nuisance. The reality is that even if it was listed as etiquette, the people who are placing them don't care about that. They see triggering disabilities as funny because they don't see the other players as people worthy of decency. It's ableism.
That's why it should be disabled as a whole to avoid the behavior to begin with.
^ This.
And...it has nothing to do with "etiquette" it's a health and safety issue that can make someone have a seizure.
(And I'ma just say, even if it was an "etiquette" thing, you just don't do that to people. You don't need it to be a spoken or unspoken rule to not set off lures and fireworks in the underground so that it doesn't hurt people, that's just common sense and common decency for other people. Something that these players who are doing it don't have, and why it needs to not happen).
Even in competitive games, this would be considered griefing. There's a reason why flashbangs are a thing in shooter games, to be a visual impairment.
Etiquette is already a point of contention in this game because of how it sometimes devolves in entitlement and fights, and in this case, while it would be nice that people passed around not to do it, some people are still going to do it simply for the heck of it.
I have seen it once or twice. Seems like folks shoot them into the pond?
I would like to add, I have used Pumpkin Lures in the Underground.... It seems everyone sees this as griefing. I was wholly unaware that it caused issues, and nobody minded when I did (I asked first). So my apologies, I will avoid doing that in the future 😓
I'd say in your case Kale, it definitely isn't griefing, considering you were asking and stuff. It's why it's kinda hard to tell, those who do it maliciously and not. And it was moreso the issues with the firework, which seems like in combination with the lures, can be quite a bit.
It also seems the lures can be placed on the tables? I think I recall someone saying this was possible (again, unsure), and this blocking the views of tiles in the hotpot.
Like, I myself during the snowball issue wasn't aware of it cause I had been out of the game for a long time. I accidentally used them during a bug hunting party because I had ran out of bombs, and players alerted me about it (well, not the issue with them, just to not use them). It happens, but it's also why it's so important S6 deals with this.
Why would anyone not reading this, read the etiquette section?
And also i was witness to someone setting of fireworks and placing lures on the hp tables. Everyone asked for it to stop. The person just kept going. Someone identified the person ( which is also a pain to do cause everyone is a ghost in the UG when fireworks setoff)
The person started to shame everyone and told us Not to be babies...
Most of us reported him but there isnt even a rule for this bad behaviour...
And what do they do with reported players anyway?
You can block and mute... but they still see your chat and you still see them and their actions....
Yeah, from what I understand/read, the issue with lures is when it's on the tables especially. Or if there's a lot going on at once-- and again, if you're asking & people have said it's okay, etc, then that's completely different!
Oh you have nothing to apologize for.
like others said, you asked first and people were fine with it.
As a longer example, think about hardcore World of Warcraft, when your character dies, you make a new character and start over.
So if you're in a dungeon with a bunch of other people, and then someone goes and purposefully gets the team killed, fully knowing what happens in hardcore WOW, that's griefing.
Here, it's setting off fireworks because they think it's funny to blind people and they don't care if it makes someone have seizures. Even if someone didn't know, it's just common sense and decency to not do that, that's a griefing.
And to the mods (correction S6 staff) reading here: Why dont you setoff fireworks in your test environment to see what the effects are?
But seems that the theory of it being "glitches" or something along those lines is beginning and I both don't know how to feel about it, nor should it matter for it to be worked on.
(yeah, seems like it's going to be one of those days.
).
I don't even know if it makes a difference if it were to be a glitch but
i guess the only ones who would really be able to tell would be S6 themselves
The mods aren't S6 staff -- just clarifying! We're just volunteers in the server, we don't do anything in the game.
That being said, I agree with you and hope that S6 devs are doing internal testing. I'd like to assume they are, but
who knows!
My bad then... with Mods i meant S6 Glacie Lacie who asked for feedback
I'm hoping theyre also testing it and doing different things. Hoping.
Esp after the fact that Lacie Did see one of the screenshots that was posted here and forwarded it to the rest of the team. It makes me hope theyre realizing it's an issue, like the snowball one (before it was fixed).
I'm hoping as well because I'm worried with the bits of testing some players have done, and unable to get similar results, it's going to get overlooked or something.
And even if it really was a glitch or something else, it still sucks and would hope that in that case S6 can look into it from their end.
Like i suggested before, they can maybe give fireworks and lures the same tag as outside furniture....🤷♀️
Yeah, that's why I'm worried about the "glitches" theory, though it shouldn't matter if it's a glitch or not, I'm still afraid it'll be a ah well, glitches, what can you do amiright? Or something along those lines.
That's just me thinking worst case scenario tho. Accessibility, imo, gets shafted all the time.
Or make some individuals want to try it out more, because there's always that too.
Possibly too much pessimist thinking on my side but the situation and some of the discourse around it has been frustrating, to say the least.
Hearing the glitch thing, just reminds me of the snowball fiasco. Because I know some ppl were trying to say it was just a bug/glitch, which... in a sense, sure? yeah? but it wasn't also very severe and needed to be fixed asap. The same should be the case here
(and also hopefully fix the other flashes that I've brought up to them via feedback or in palia-discussions. like the ball of light when hitting trees, rocks, animals, etc)
Which is also why it concerns me a bit a MM said it, because inevitably, some people will regard it as true, even if that's not their intent. And like you said, in a sense it might be a glitch, but it still shouldn't really make a difference since it's harming players.
after all, ruby glitch was called a glitch too, didn't stop them from fixing it :)
We're taking a look and investigating the issue. The expected behavior from fireworks is that they are consumed but instead of exploding with visual effects, they fire unceremoniously into the ceiling. It looks like, from players screenshots, that somehow they're able to aim at something to set off the fireworks, which is unintended behavior and something that we want to fix. Our team has been testing to try to track the source of the problem so that we can work on a fix.
I'm glad to hear this Lacie, but any chance they can be disabled in the UG altogether in case? It being such a cramped area and well, being underground doesn't make much sense for fireworks to be used. Similarly with the lures.
I'd understand if it's not technically feasible perhaps, but since there isn't a VFX toggle or a way to reduce the effects, it would probably be better for them to be disabled in these areas (again, if possible).
What do you mean by "instead of exploding with visual effects" ? /genuine question
The end result of a typical firework - the visual effects like this
Right, okay. Just wanted to make sure I understood, thank you!
It does seem like they are shooting off as visual effects for some players, though. In one of the vids I skimmed through (Couldn't properly look for my own safety), you could still see the effects (bc they were further away), and it was still bright. *Also want to note, was with the kitsuu firework
It makes me think it could also be the case of how close someone is to the firework and why it's so bright (along with how many ppl are shooting). I know you weren't around during the snowball thing, but it makes me think of that a bit. When that was happening, it ended up brighter for some ppl depending on camera angle, and if they were super close to the impact.
2nd vid is the one i skimmed here: #🤝│game-help message
thats what me and miss in jortin were attempting to do, we tried everything, aiming at the hotpot tables themselves, shooting while the games were active, aiming at a certain angle etc, and we could not have possibly replicate how the fireworks were able to explode much sooner than it should be
I couldn't look at all the vids, but did y'all try shooting at eachothers feet at all? So the impact was like "ontop" of you? (whether above or on the player)
tried that as well, same thing happens where it does go to the ceiling as intended
just reviewing the recordings on my end, nothing of interest really as i have already stated, so we are possibly theorizing that one player is like possibly cheating/hacking and are able to prematurely detonate the fireworks, because how else can a normal player do that based off prior instances
Really appreciate the thought of helping, even if it's not able to be replicated. We're trying to figure out why it might be able to be possible for some players to do. Issue has certainly been flagged to the team and we're looking into it, as obviously some of the videos shared previously have been pretty egregious and that is not what we want.
can it also be possible for the devs to check on their end, like load the map in some level editor and see if there is like collisions that are way off, i was also theorizing that because you couldnt stand on top of the hotpots, maybe the "ceilings" of the tables are way lower and are what causing the fireworks to go off prematurely, but we also shot at those tables, whether active or not, and nothing happened
They're doing testing as well
The community can often know better about how to reproduce some of these issues, which is why we want to ask here as well.
in any case, i figured to at least show you some raw footage of us attempting to do those things (edited because the file size was way too big for discord to handle), if it means something, because again, we tried everything and we cannot possibly replicate prior instances
Does table being open for use or even in use perhaps matter for how the fireworks behave? That'd be more dangerous to test with more people likely to be the underground
Holy Ormuus that is bright! If that happened to me I would have had to shut down the game. I'm highly photosensitive. Thanks for sharing ☺️
And sadly, this one is tamer than some of the other scs shared (which I don't recommend looking for, they can be quite eye straining for some)
Do the fireworks go up a set height from the root of what they are shot at? If so, you'd need to target something that is embedded deeper underground to have the explosions not be up in the ceiling - like targetting pillars or something where the bottom point is under the ground... (mind you this is somewhat speculation, I'm not sure exactly how the height of the fireworks is set in game).
When I was trying to look into it more (oops), I saw some where the tables were closed, and multiple lures on, and fireworks all at once.
same thing happens, just goes up to the ceiling, though i am curious now since idk if we did do that last night, if the collision of the hotpot tables opening/closing them is what is causing it (shooting fireworks at the hotpot tables as it opens/closes)
Yay we have data on that already, darn we dont yet have a culprit/repro steps
Someone on my server said that people causing this problem went all way down through well and just spammed fireworks but idk
did some more testing, still no flashbangs on my part tho i did find out by shooting at the fishing pool, no flashbangs but its low enough that the fireworks will make noise
also you have to dive down underwater, shooting at the surface will launch it from the surface, which means it would be high enough the firework noise wont be heard
Ty ☺️
OK, so just to clarify, as long as I double check first, it's OK? I only do it with the Pumpkin Lures since those are just fun to do in a low stakes way that anyone can enjoy
Yep.
Thanks! Unrelated, but nice PFP 💚
Did you try with all sorts of firework? Especially the new Kitsuu ones?
Small flash/visual near the start of the trailer (Pretty much when you see him start to grab the sword & swing it).
If you want to skip that part, here's one where it's timestampped (around 12 seconds):

Sharing from: #💬│palia-general message
One thing that I forgot to include on the #📢│palia-news announcement is that we will be introducing a quick chat feature that should make communicating via text/chatting more accessible with quick phrases, especially for those trying to communicate on console.
I have updated the bullet points on the patch tease to reflect this.
There was one guy that was shooting off the phoenix fireworks in the UG and was somehow able to get the firework phoenix to fly close to the ground. Considering those and the Maji fireworks can trigger my motion sickness, I can't stay in the UG when they were spamming that firework over and over again
I'm really sorry to hear that happened /gen
it's definitely one of the reasons why we're hoping/asking that S6 looks into it and ideally disables the fireworks in UG altogether.
I almost all the time having trouble with the chatt. I'm stuck in either community or whisper 😕 So many times I can't communicate with others. Not being able to shout out findings to others or answer others 😕
If you play on PC, hit the Tab key to cycle through chat channels. If you play on Switch, the ZL and ZR buttons do the same.
oh my are we back on the server kicks? it is garbage I lost so many loot bags today because of it! S6 needs to rethink this mess!
Oh!!! 😯 Thank you so much 🙏😃

There are a couple of known users that spam the UG with fireworks, and they have been reported a fair few times so hopefully thats what this enquiry from S6 about the fireworks is to address 🤞🏻
I had heard about that, but it would still be better that the fireworks are just disabled underground since there's not a VFX toggle and just to prevent from people to keep doing it.
Specially since Lacie said it's not "intended" for the fireworks to go off like that. I still hope it's fixed soon.
idk if this has been mentioned or not, but an in-game notepad to write down notes, like to make lists for crafting materials (or better yet, making pinnable recipes!). i know a lot of adhd folks, myself included, that struggle with memory issues and i think this would be super helpful!
also a minimap pls ❤️ 🙏
if you play on steam, steam does have a notes feature for you to use among other stuff, you can read more about it here #♿│accessibility-discussions message
I am very interested in the quick chat feature. Playing on a console is better on my wrists, and not being able to communicate easily about common things is a struggle. Also helps my neurospicy self if there are preset options to use on harder days
I use the omw & thanks emotes a lot
What would also be cool and help my neurospicy brain remember things is an in-game timer. Esp when I need to remember stuff irl and my phone is dead, I could just use the timer in game since I have time blindness
Yeah it would be nice if they integrated a clock/timer like they have in SWTOR. I get lost in the game sometimes and need a timer/alarm to tell me what time it is so I don't spend too long playing.
Oh goodness a mini map would be great! I've done a boogie in place just trying to figure out what direction I needed to go. More often than not I'm always going the wrong way and spamming the map button😂
I struggle with directions too. I’ll run a while, check the map, and discover I was running the opposite way. I’m having trouble with fishing too (same reason).
You can place a waypoint on the map and it will pin it to your compass to guide you to where you need to go! I do it a lot for going to the flow tree groves
I rely a lot on sound cues since I play without glasses and the rooster crowing is very helpful for this for me
I know it's been asked in the gardening channel, and this would help me a lot because it's so repetitive, but being able to add all fertiliser to a single plot point would be great. I use a mouse so I have to hit the mouse key for every application.
Kind of related: a gather all option would also be great. I spend so much time getting my camera view correct in order to gather a plant from the garden, because it's so finicky for having the correct distance/view. By view I mean, the camera angle correct for the plant. If you're next to it but looking away slightly, you can't pick it
Just wanting to warn about flash effect in the patch notes. Shows pretty much with the Premium Store section.
from the patch notes, im not sure if i just didnt find it. but no fix for the seizure/migraine inducing fireworks in the ug?
No mention.
ah, depressing. thank you
- Fixed an issue where firework sound effects failed to play while in the Fairgrounds.
- Fireworks may not display the correct designs on some graphics settings.
that doesnt sound like the issue thats occuring in the underground?
that's all they've got for ya 🤷♀️
I shared the last bullet point in discussions, and that's the only thing I could think of being related. But at the same time, it brings me back to the snowball flashbang and support telling people it was due to their graphic settings.
It seems that the opposite was done of what we've been discussing imo
it's that time again https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1382766801590419457, but like usual I'm just now opening the patch notes. As Valk said, there's a major flash at the premium store section though before that there are autoplaying gifs with a few small flickers too
Apologies if this has been mentioned but I'm having a hard time with screen flashing with people putting Pumpkin Lures in the UG. Is there a purpose of having them down there? People troll and put them on the tables too and it becomes hard to see.
There's no real purpose at all. We're still hoping it properly gets addressed/fixed/resolved.
about halfway through and had to reference 2 additional news posts so far for the information to make sense, so that's fun
Careful on main menu for palia, when they show the little 'teaser/trailer' for the patch. It has quite a few animation effects. Flash, glitch type effect, and shaking.
OT, kind of.. but omg!! I see we have finally gotten a new emoji for the discussion!
guys do you know how to disconnect on palia like switch account ? can someone help me
I'm not really sure, but someone in #🎲│console-zone might be able to help
what do you mean? like log out? i feel like maybe console zone, or tech-help would be better to ask in ❤️
Also, in case ppl previewed outfits before & would 'cancel' the animation by changing the coluor palette: That is no longer possible. It blocks off the menu completely & forces you to watch the entire animation before giving you the option to swap palettes.
okayy thanks i ve asked !! and yes log out
It's from the thread attached to the patch notes in #📢│palia-news
edit; orz meant to reply to another post.. but it's re: fireworks in the underground
not sure if this will be an issue for anyone else, but the texture in the path of the cardigan is very busy and is ... disorienting? eye straining? weird

Has anyone else noticed that the hot pot cards in the middle, where you discard your ones, are now so bright, it's hard to see what set they are in? The colours now look all washed out. I can't work out if it's my eyes, my monitor, or something to do with lighting has changed in there.
In particular, the yellow and orange sets are hard for me to differentiate now. There used to be one table I avoided because of this, now it seems to be on every table.
And because the game won't let you zoom in, it's awful - you can't look at the symbols on the side.
It's definitely the game :/ I also noticed this when I played hot pot recently. It is indeed very washed out and very eye straining.
I sent in a bug report personally because it is quite difficult to see the actual cards now.
Hoping for any direction or suggestions in finding more Palia streamers with streams that have closed captions on? I am deaf and I do wear cochlear implants most of the times a current heath situation makes that not always possible. I have had a hard time finding communities and people to play with that won’t exclude me when I can’t always join a VC or the stream doesn’t have CC. I want the rewards too but also to feel included and comfortable. Any help/suggestions would be amazing and greatly appreciated.
Jupieverse has captions, plays with the community, is a palia partner, streams palia 99% of the time, and streams daily Monday through friday
Thank you so much I’ll definitely check them out, I appreciate your time to comment.
I follow WadeLady but I am not sure if she does captions and I don't know how to find out on mobile.
go to the stream, settings gear icon, toggle on captions
Thank you @native remnant I appreciate any suggestions! and the time taken to even think about where to look 🫂
Harking back to the topic of hard to see, does anyone else have problems with looking for fishing pools at night? I'm trying to get the Fairy Carp, using the Mirror Fields pool, and darned if I can see the pools to get the starred fish. There's almost no contrast with the dark water
We just found out, that you have to activate the new luna path. After doing days of not getting any xp. This should be communicated better. Now all the luna xp are lost, apparently. Please add a feature so the luna xp gets saved and you can use them on other path to your liking, thanks.
!support you can also send in a player support ticket regarding your missing XP, they may be able to assist you with this
Here's a link to the Player Support: http://support.palia.com/
Good morning, I paid to unlock the rest of the path of kitsuu. It says completed but I can't access any of the items? There's a red 3 there next to my nameplate. When I go in and click on the items I paid to have unlocked it tells me it needs to be unlocked. Can anyone explain this to me? Tyty!
Fixed! Needed to relog
I did this, and they said they are looking into it but we may not get the missing lunar path XP because it isn't a high priority right now.
I was wondering if there will ever be an option for people who have blue green blind issues? My partner had a hard time with the quest where we needed blue Ogupoo scales. I had to go join him and help him, easy enough but it made me realize how many important/magical animals are blue.. and he cant see them.
Does the Tritanope color correction not help?
Settings > graphics >screen calibration is where the three color filters are with strength toggles, but i know its not helpful for everyone with color blindness
Is there any way to play Palia one handed couldn’t set it up on my Mac so downloaded it kn my sons switch to discover it requires two hands is there any ways To play one handed? As my left arm and hand are paralysed
If you are on PC there is a way to key bind if you have those mouse that have multiple buttons on the sides. You can even set key bindings on laptop for keyboard only.
I am on a Mac haven’t managed to even get it working yet let alone play Irvine handed I was wondering if you could just play with a mouse on a Mac?
I mean I think that would be possible but Palia isn't accessible on Mac atm so not sure
afaik its only available on Microsoft Windows (PC/Steam), Nintendo Switch, Xbox series X and series S, and Playstation 5
this link should show you on how to get palia on those platforms
Google tells me that there are accessories that can turn the switch controller into a one hand device if that is at all helpful.
@supple lantern I bought an adaptive holder that puts both Joycons from the switch in one hand. It takes a little while to get used to it but, I have a friend who uses it daily to play. I ordered his from Etsy.
thanks! just found them will buy when I next get paid and try them out!
has there been any discussion on the reduction of nuisance clicking? Examples: adding fertiliser, buying from stores, things ever staying where you put them in your menus (arrows and smoke bombs shuffling between zones)?
All these things have such easy solutions and would be great for everyone's hand health, not just us already with pain and problems
I have asked if there is a way to not have to do the long press for watering etc but I didn't see any responses.
A bit confused by this, he said he couldnt find any settings in trhe game to turn on to help..
I will have him try this ❤️ ty
It would be under Calibrate screen and then colour correction
Yeah, it's unfortunate that they hide them under the Calibrate Screen option.
It's a little 'hidden' away for some reason.
Are we really surprised they'd hide it.
Thank ya, i will direct him to it. thank you all for the help
a bit yes.. ::<
Considering how things have been going for the past few years...
now i wonder what i missed lol im new to the game
Just a lot of asking and requesting a lot of accessiblity features to be implemented and stuff, and it either being incredibly slow or rarely addressed. or adding other accessibility-related issues.
That said, still glad the quick chat feature finally got added. Just hope other accessibility-related stuff ends up being added and addressed, too
thats very sad.. : (
And for the fireworks in the underground to be addressed and disabled.
They did mention a microsoft accessibility audit, but we haven't really heard much else from it. I think that was mentioned in June 2025? So... I keep hoping something will come from that or something said about it.
People have asked, but there's been no comment. Bulk buy is the big one everyone wants, but auto sort inventory and buying a whole color pallete.
Bulk buy, right click and apply x fertilizer, or toggle apply where the stack is active and you just gotta sweep your mouse over it. And,of course, when you use up one stack of ammos and have another of the same type in your ammo pouch, it defaults to THE SAME TYPE when it picks a new stack.
palia hurts my hands like nothing else, and I'm a wire artist.
Why oh why is the text on Switch still so miniscule? The letters etc for quests have a comical amount of blank space left, WHO is picking this font size?
I'm not sure if this is accessibility or a PITA for everyone. Is anyone else having massive problems seeing where to water the plants for the flower event in Kilima because of people's nameplates, hats, outfits, etc? Thinking of putting in a request to make everyone to turn into the ghost, or at least make people see through.
This would be such a nice change (and while we're talking about it, getting autorun to work properly for climbing once we've latched onto the wall maybe).
Some days I just can't hold down buttons for very long without my fingers buckling, and using the triggers on a controller is worse. I have alternate keybinds set up to use the back paddles on my controller and also keyboard keybinds for "use tool" and the one that's also on right click (the precise name is escaping me), which helps me at least vary my hand positions and sometimes use my whole hand, thumb, a knuckle, etc.
However, that's not always workable for things that require more precision/maneuvering while using the tool (like watering at the bloom or tilling my garden)
I'm not sure if this has already been documented, but, uhhhh... the accomplishments UI does.... this. A lot. This video I took (mostly the music) was partially meant to be funny, a "haha look what nonsense the game is doing, this is so absurd lol" — but it's only funny because I'm not especially photosensitive (at least, not right now). I am able to replicate this effect at will (though this was the first time I've had it affect TWO squares at once) — and I only know this because the UI does this by accident at least once per gaming session.
[Video description: A segment of the Accomplishments UI with the mouse cursor hovering in the space between two accomplishments in the same column. Due to the positioning of the cursor causing the UI elements to shift upward, move out of mouseover range, and subsequently revert to their original position, the two accomplishment squares wiggle repeatedly up and down and toggle between medium-blue and near-white, causing rapid flashing.]
Warning: rapid flashing
Video also has sound (electronic music). Please do not play the video if strobing is an issue for you.
I have sometimes swapped out my spacebar for the action button but it feels less precise to use and of course leads to muscle memory problems for the things the spacebar is normally for. Even then long pressing with my whole hand doesn't completely alleviate the wrist pain.
Want you to know you're not alone, I have profound hearing loss and struggle with the same <3
I do love the bulkbuy option and the ammo default. But everything else leaves out half the community. I play on a "console" (its a steamdeck) and I know a lot of other people who do as well. So it could be that there just aren't enough ways to implement things so all players can enjoy. Not every player has a right click or a sweep mouse option.
If you put the ammo you want to use at the bottom line of your ammo pouch it will use that ammo first
As a heads up, we've identified the issue that allowed players to (incorrectly) set off fireworks while inside the Underground and we plan to have a fix in for the next patch.
looks like no more flashbangs in the underground market
The lures also have a planned fix
The ability to place Honey Lures on the Hotpot table will also have a fix planned for the next patch.
Yay! Excellent news all around
Is there a way to toggle off the snow? It causes major migraine issues for me and I would imagine many other migraine sufferers
Unfortunately no, we're just spending less time in kilima or avoiding it all together
I seriously need a setting where you can adjust the volume of the waterfall cause it's so god damn loud especially when I'm next to it
Or a way to see the fish better (maybe permanently enabling the yellow silhouette?) when finishing cause it's so hard to see in like, Elderwood or at night
I find the volume to extremely variable. Sometimes standing next to a waterfall, it sounds like static cutting in and out.
Yeah, I noticed that during a bloom today. I thought about just muting Palia until it was over. 😂
It's the blooms in D5, if I turn a certain way I get so much loud static hitting me, it's not funny. It's almost unbearable to me, and I don't have auditory problems, it must be so much worse for other players.
Does anyone else have problems trying to see which parts of their plot need watering? That little line thing is super hard to find and see. And hitting G just overwhelms me with text.
The soil beneath plants that need watering is paler than watered crops.
And that can still be hard to see because I wander around planting, and then I wander around watering.
I'm sorry that doesn't work for you.
The contrast is quite poor, depending on when you need to do the watering.
It's nearly impossible to distinguish during the Killima Bloom event cause of the snow as well, at least for me :/
it sounds like they need some external help on accessibility suggestions.
Thanks for sharing that. Over 6 months ago :/
My friend and I just got super motion sick playing on PC. Is there a way to adjust the settings to prevent this?
Re the latest post from S6 about not tearing people down, scrolling through the comments in the palia-general channel it's like it's not worth adding anything about accessibility comments in that channel. It's pretty bad to dismiss people who bring up accessibility concerns when the community is chatting about possible new events. It wasn't my comment, and I feel for the person who wrote it. If you are reading this, you didn't deserve to be dismissed at all.
Thanks everyone for the emojis 🙂 It just frustrates me no end when a person with a disability gets dismissed by able players. We already play on hard mode (we're the real elite gamers!).
(I still wish there were different settings for cooking but sometday I'll stop being overwhelmed ..... maybe?)
Yeah, I hate cooking with the repeated finger movements (I'm on PC). I suppose I could change the button to something else for cooking, like the spacebar, but then I would need to remember to change it back afterwards 🙁
Yeah I'm on a switch ... and I just hate the whole mechanics of needing to do things in a very specific way or you fail at it like chopping stuff. it gets ridiculous. If it wasn't timed I'd feel a lot less stressed about it... honestly that would be a huge improvement - not having to be timed so the food is ruined if you aren't fast enough
#♿│accessibility-discussions message you can actually set a secondary bind to your do cooking minigame action as shown here, so you dont have to keep changing mouse 1 back and forth
my left finger thanks you. I had scrolled through so many of those, and missed the one at the bottom!
I am going to try this, it might make the fast chopping easier for me
The fast chopping just just oh no, why
What is a good rebind for Steam Deck’s ‘Steam + X’ combo for the in game chat? And how do I move the chat window?
thought: it would be REALLY nice if crafters could have a "in storage: (x) number)" so i don't have to check five times (i have adhd okay??) and it would also be nice if there could be storage chests connected to the rest of your storage at like, main stables. Also if you could give people presents from your storage instead of inventory. It's weird that i can add to bundles from storage but not give somebvody something for a quest without going back home. just connect all the storage, there is literally no drawback to this
A better place to ask would be #🎲│console-zone
Wasn’t aware of that as I wasn’t sure if the Deck counted as a console or a handheld PC. Thank you for the suggestion
I really wish fishing had an accessibility mode - some of those fish (especially the ones in the Elderwood that you are required to catch for quests) simply move around too fast for someone like me with bad hands/wrists. Even with my mouse sensitivity increased.
I acknoolgue this is a privilaged reply and may be be viable for lots of people
I find fishing on the steam deck Much easier on my wrists as its based on the joypad and not the whole mouse. it also locks the charcater in place so I can can position the camerea to not be blocked by my own character
i see what you’re saying but it’s not all that possible to go out and purchase a whole new console for something that could be fixed in game. accessibility should apply to all consoles. not dragging you, just my two cents i promise
Abolutely my opinon too, but in case those who happen to have a steamdeck and haven't tried it are reading.
I also think looking at how it functions on the steam deck and why that is benefitial is probaly also a good starting to point for the dev's, but i dont know much about crosscompatibility to know if that'd be info they could actually use
Apologies if I've not found the setting;
Does fishing have color blind options? It would also be nice for the bobber to glow a bit more
there is the color correction setting that you change, other than that really, there are different cosmetic fishing bobbers for you to equip to help you see it in the waters
Not really the bobber glowing more, but if you stand in such a way that the bobber is behind something while you're reeling it in, the fish will get bright yellow while it's hidden. That might help in some spots, too.
i do want to spend money on the game, but i dont currently have a job. ill keep an eye out
Do we know if S6 will be adding more to the flower limit? I didn’t realize 1000 feels so little now when working on flower projects and decorating in general
#🏡│decor message
they're definitely working on increasing these limits, while keeping performance issues in mind
the bobbers are earned via gameplay - leveling, finishing temples, doing bundles, seasonal rewards
Someone said to turn down one or two graphics options so I can more easily see the bugs when we get the snow gone. I was hoping it might turn down the snow colour. Does anyone know what settings to change?
turning off foliage helps in seeing bugs (except in the elderwood, it doesn't do anything there).
is that dropping both the foliage distance scale and the grass distance scale?
foliage density
Thank you, I hadn't scrolled down far enough.
Having OCD and making outfits like these.. Please change this?
Can't change the color of the eye. Red and brown armor set, but you throw in a complete different color, want us to pay real money and won't even let us change the color?
Feel like this is done so you buy all the other sets.
This would probably be more appropriately discussed in #👕│outfits-cosmetics as it doesn't directly touch on accessibility concerns.
But also would encourage you to provide feedback to the team!

It would touch on accessibility given the other iteration is very bright and the studio, the team, doesn;t allow for muted tones / color changing to fit people's aesthetic. This counts as accessibility for people with autism or OCD, as not allowing us to change the colors of certain outfits could clash.
Channel description also says physical, neurological and other disabilities. As someone with OCD, I don't really appreciate being told my disability doesn't touch on accessibility concerns.
Character customization and optimizing the aesthetical feel of your portrayed character IS a disability concern when again, things are off.
Also, while we're on this topic, the snow is very bright. And we should be given the option to opt out of it.
Please note that mods are not devs. It is perfectly ok to discuss accessibility needs that is the purpose of the space after all, but wanted to clarify as the “you don’t allow’ indicates there may be a misunderstanding of why official feedback is helpful as the mod team do not work for the studio.
'You don't allow' would be studio.
Fixed for you since you misunderstood.
Apologies! Missed this part of your message. Regardless, the feedback portal will be the best place to communicate with the studio on this matter
Yep, I'm very aware. : )
This is also an accessibility discussion. So I am allowed to talk about it here.
The physics on some of the premium hairstyles make me nauseous. Why does the rapunzel hair float and whip around so violently? Real hair doesn't act like that. I know because my hair goes past my knees. Even seeing the hair on other characters makes me nauseous.
Also, even with the screen brightness turned down a lot, that Kilima snow is really painful on the eyes.
As someone who has very long hair.. it does actually act like that. It doesn't whip around AS violently, but when you have a concentrated braid in your hair that goes straight down, yeah, it is gonna whip around when you move.
The physics are still very exaggerated but, hair does do that.
Of course hair moves, but this is soooo exaggerated. Even when my hair was down to my ankles it only moved a fraction of that amount. It's so bad that I have to stay away from other characters using the hair or I risk making myself ill.
I get motion sickness from the hot pot table, from ranching, from fishing. It's a really horrible feeling.
CAUTION:
The video for the new update was very nauseating. So for my fellow vertigo sufferers, I advise caution 🩷
Thank you for putting the warning in., I was just about to click the video link.
Chests, especially lockboxes, should all hold individual stuff. So you can sort out your chests. Or have a chest specific to seeds, one specific to ores, etc. I'm honestly so tired of the cluttered storage and it isn't organized and it is driving me bonkers.
that's one where video game players in general are split pretty evenly on the universal storage vs dedicated storage preference
Personally don't mind it being universal but I'd appreciate it could be sorted better and the UI could be resizeable
Yeah but for people with OCD or ADHD and typically like to organize their things without clutter, I think people should be allowed to choose.
competing access needs - some ADHDers need everything visible in one place
it truly is just choosing which half of the playerbase to get grief from
Yeah it’d be cool to have an option to choose but I get that would probably be inconvenient to program, I have poor working memory and having everything in one place is GREAT for it
Again, if you actually read what I said.
There should be the option to pick. Which wouldn't grief either side.
yeah unfortunately as R said that's a very tall order and they would have needed to make that decision back in 2018 when they began making the game and building the foundational systems
They wouldn't have though.
You can still make additions to a game. Not saying it's easy to do but acting like accessibility for easy access and organization for storage is unachievable is a very inaccessible way to look at it.
We don't really know how the coding or anything would be for them in that regard. It honestly could be a little tricky to go back and change currently.
I do struggle at times when everything is just visible there, however, having the tabs & being able to search helps. Not saying it's great or the best, but it at least has helped me in that sense. (not saying it helps everyone, of course.)
I think they were just wanting to have the system in place so people could access it from anywhere on the plot. (And yes, I know, I read what you said and you said a choice to choose. Of cousre, having choices for these is best and ideal and I think we all can agree on that.)
That's not an addition, that's reprogramming a pretty significant system in the game.
We aren't saying it isnt unachievable either lol, we have been trying to advocate, ask, and suggest multiple accessiblity-related features
It's still an addition.
they've attempted to redo core systems (it's a full in place replacement, it's A LOT) a couple times (housing, NPC pathing) and it took well over a year with only one being completed so far and both being buggy
Adding something to a game / programming something into a game is STILL an addiction to the game. An addition is anything you add to a game.
Nobody said it could happen in a day. It is simply worth looking into because the chest organization and storage is very lazy and very haphazard.
But not just an addition. It would require significant changes to existing core systems. It's not just something you're plopping in that would exist in a bubble. I'm not arguing semantics with you. I knew better before I responded.
But we're saying there is a difference between overhaulting and changing something, compared to literally adding something that wouldn't affect something else. There is a slight difference, because it's also changing how things could potentially work.
And again, we realize this. We have been doing our best to advocate, ask, suggest etc multiple accessiblity-related features. All people said that is it might take a while & might be difficult for them to do or work on at a quick pace
Girl ain't nobody say it wouldn't require significant changes. Accessibility changes aren't easy. If you're gonna come at people because "omg the changes you're asking for aren't easy" to everyone in here because "omg adding stuff to a game takes work".
...?
it does seem like the original approach to a lot of things was too rigid and done in a way that was too brittle to alter, so maybe they'll end up redoing everything so the game can change better (well we can dream and ask santa for that)
this [edit: the conversation itself, not the topic] is definitely a "we fought this battle for 4 years" [ie we're jaded and respond with the cause of that] vs that new server member optimism thing, so we've probably reached the end (probably did a bit ago really and didn't see it)
Me being newer to the server has no bearing on whether or not "you fought this battle for 4 years". My voice isn't to be any less heard than your own.
That isn't what anybody said.
So I don't know why a comment like that is necessary.
Nobody is trying to say your voice isn't any less heard or anything like that.
I don't think antagonising anyone here is going to help. No one ever said that.
The block button is self care!
/genuine
It's a pretty demeaning commentary nonetheless and I'd appreciate you not making comments on my status or me being new. Has nothing to do with this conversation and this isn't a "new server member optimism" thing. It's me discussing something that would make the game more accessible to me, which is what the channel is for. Not for three different people to gang up on me and make condescending comments and to argue semantics with me about how this implementing a feature like the one I asked about would take a lot of time to implement (as if I'm asking for it right now this minute, or expecting it to be implemented asap. I know how things work).
Hey! I feel like we've strayed away from discussing the ideas/opinions and started being unnecessarily aggressive in our replies.
Anner faster than me.
I'd appreciate if the conversation moved forward from here. If you're experiencing an issue with someone, we'd like you to utilize modmail instead of continuing on in a back and forth.
okay, i just realized this about the game, i never really have any complaints but this one is just stupid in my opinion. i understand it’s a sharing platform and we sometimes help people out with hunting and go our separate ways. but to me, it’s annoying when it’s obvious i’m trying to stay low and hunt or bug catch and i’m by myself doing this, and someone or a whole party decided to hunt next to me and stay in the area. or when someone can clearly see i’m trying to hunt the mushrooms so they keep running around so i can’t shoot any of them quickly enough or they decide to randomly join me and disrupt my hunting process. even more annoying when i run away from them to get distance so i can continue to do my own thing and they just follow me around. yes i know i can server hop or block them, but what my main complaint is: blocking the character doesn’t remove them from the server, they can still be next to me and follow me around, they just can’t talk or add me. to me, that’s just stupid and it’s like “what’s the point of blocking them then?”
feel free to humble and keep it real with me, but i’m sure i’m not the only one who feels the same way.
!feedback Definitely provide feedback to the team if you haven't already.

Yeah I think they could maybe do something like Where Winds Meet is doing where you can do the single player mode, a solo server (for your world only) and then an online version. Or at least allow you to turn off the server sharing.
right? i get the whole “partying up” thing, but i feel like a lot of us just like doing our own thing and solo stuff lol. i don’t mind being in a party temporarily, but geez, i don’t want to be followed around or follow people around the whole game. it’s just irritating when i’m clearly trying to get away from the person if they get too close to me and/or tell them to stop following me, they’ll just continue to follow me around doing the same thing i’m currently doing and they won’t go away. it kinda pmo that -i- have to be the one to leave the server because blocking them doesn’t do anything.
Unfortunately chat is buggy for a lot of players and a lot play with chat "off", so they may not even see you asking them to leave you alone (or they could just be jerks).
Yep. Did that yesterday.
Yeah some people just wanna be solitary and I wish they'd just offer an option for that. I realize it is a live service online game, so fair enough. But just an option to be closed off temporarily.
I'm starting to feel like this isn't the channel for me anymore. I came her for talking to others with disabilities and it it seems like the channel has veered off topic. I don't feel welcome in a channel that is supposed to be fine for us to talk about disabiities.
Firstly I want to apologize in advance for what I will say. I am gen X and neuro spicy so my expressions are often taken as hostile when I am just saying what I see. I dont mean this to sound hostile. The game is founded on people sharing space. Its community driven and tries to do something no other game I play does. Instill assistance and nice vibes. To create a place where people cross paths and combine effort. Ive been playing months now and I dont ever come to this game if I do not want to share space with other people. Its a simple thing to accept. That this game is shared space and to avoid shared space is to play elsewhere until you feel like you are in the shared space mood. I have found that often people arent hunting with me but that we are sharing a purpose. Which is to hunt. They just happen to be where I am too. It feels like they are hunting with me. Sometimes thats nice, sometimes it gets in my face. I get to chose how I see it, and then what I do with it. I dont see it that I can come to that and then ask it to change on my behalf. Just my perspective. Just as I dont get to ask it to change I dont get to ask you to change either.
Hey everyone, please keep in mind that this channel is meant for discussions about accessibility within Palia. This can range from discussions about the visual settings for colorblind players to the difficulty of platforming in certain areas of the game (to name just a couple examples). If you'd like to discuss topics such as general playstyles or social preferences, it may be best to move the conversation to #💬│palia-discussions. It's normal for a conversation to veer a little off topic due to overlapping subjects, but we want to ensure this channel is predominantly being utilized for its intended purpose.
i’m neuro spicy as well, which is why i said to humble and keep it real because i prefer brutal honesty. i didn’t think you came across that way, you’re just saying it like it is: a share platform game.
one of the reasons why i get so passionate about hunting solo is because i have a strategy to it. especially in elderwood on the west side of the map when it comes to the infected mushrooms, i have a strategic plan to hunt them down little bit at a time. so when someone is passing through running around spooking them, it’s ruins what i’m trying to do. i’m not blaming them, they can roam where they please, they don’t know what i’m trying to do. but when i already have a good hunt going and someone randomly wants to join and they keep spooking them all before you can even line up is what makes it annoying. usually if i come across someone who’s trying to creep slow and line up a shot, i will wait and not run in front of them or near the animal they’re trying to shoot just to be respectful. i don’t know if they’re just trying to play too or trying to play follow the leader. i will join hunt parties cause they make it easier, but i just mean solo hunting trying to grind up or using a lure and have a certain amount of time to do what i’m trying to accomplish. i’ve dealt with rude people who are invasive and don’t care about what you’re trying to do which is why my main complaint was blocking the rude people but they’re still in the server where they can continue to bother you. i wish my comment was to an actual tech person of the game so i don’t have to voice my unsolicited opinions to everyone but i can’t access and get in to my account to email or message them with questions about it. i do apologize for my negative energy and talk, i will admit, i’m used to playing more solo games and just wished Palia had a solo server map like in the temples.
but you’re right and i do apologize for unsolicited comments and silly complaints about a shared platform.
I know you were in the middle writing your response when I sent my previous message, so I just want to gently ask that we end this particular conversation here. If you have more you'd like to say about this topic, please feel free to continue over in #💬│palia-discussions so we can reserve this space for discussions about accessibility. Thank you!
On a different note, for others with vertigo/nystagmus, how do you have your settings for making screen rotation slower? Just rotation or other settings as well?
i understand and i apologize truly, i can’t access my account to speak to someone privately about the matter which is why i resolved to here because my feelings about it was fresh and i just needed to vent it out. but now i know it wasn’t acceptable behavior or the way to go about it. i’m sorry, i’ll keep it relevant to the channel!
Fireworks
doesnt luna new year market also shoot fireworks every once in a while? never really paid attention to them but i figured a warning to the new players
The massive show when someone does the drum thing. And shooting fireworks is also usually part of the stamp card.
Is there a way to set the keybind for placing a map marker on PC? Pressing the scroll wheel down is difficult for me. Edit: I must have missed there's a setting for it. I see it now in the list with all other keybind settings. Unless it was very recently added.
You may be able to go into your PC settings and set an action to act as the scroll wheel, for me I don't use a mouse and I found out that I can set a 3-finger click on the trackpad to do the same thing as the wheel
Edit: this setting doesn't seem to do anything.
Are there plans to make the bugs more visible? i keep giving myself migraines while trying to hunt ):
Do you have the foliage setting all the way down? That helps a lot.
switch doesnt have that option ... also i dont think switch has any foliage at all
I believe one of the main issues on Switch with the bugs is they somehow bury themselves underground when they scurry away. Not every time, but enough of the time that it's a significant issue and causes me to lose bugs all the time because I simply cannot see them
I also still cannot see very well during fishing even with the lantern bobber. Big supporter of more visible bugs & fish!
They bury themselves on Xbox too if you don’t catch them fast enough. Unless you mean they glitch as soon as you scare them?
They glitch under the ground as soon as you scare them. I know all bugs will dig underground if you're too slow (or for flying bugs, just kinda poof) but that wasn't what I was referring to
Aaah alright. I was just clarifying. My apologies
All good!
Yep I have this glitch too (':
happy to see I'm not alone because it is the bane of my existence
and on PC too - bugs teleporting or going through landscaping is so annoying
I find it very hard to hit some, especially when they are obscured by terrain, and then they jump back and forth, or go into terrain.
I’m also curious about this! I haven’t quite figured it out. To help with my vertigo in other ways, I switch to the slow run and have limited my playing time. This hasn’t aided with the dizziness I get from the screen rotation but it has been something.
I had Camera X Sensitivity and Camera Y Sensitivity on 0.5, I've now put them down to 0, but I'm not noticing a difference 🙁
Just a thank you for the pity completion in the trial of courage 😭 my reflexes are so bad
i think if they made bugs bigger and have a minimum elevation, a lot of the issues with them would be resolved
Omg I feel so validated reading this, I have a switch and visual disabilities but loooove to game. Palia is great but glitchy, makes actually gets bugs and fish that much more exciting I guess lol.
If anybody else struggles with the glider and has any hot tips, I will gladly take them. I’m playing on Steam deck, so I have button and mouse options. My main problem seems to be that I can’t manage to be above whatever I’m trying to land on, so there’s a good chance I’m misunderstanding the mechanic too
By standing on the tallest rock I’ve managed to almost, but not quite, land where you’re supposed to in that first glider level
Is this the quest with Jina inside the temple(Echoes of the Unknown)? Try gliding to the right and landing in the open courtyard, its a fair bit lower than the platform where you start.
I’ve managed to get to the door on the side, but didn’t see a way up from there. I’ll try the other side 👀👀
idk if this has happened to anyone else but after completing lv 5 questlines my screen bugged out and has these flashing bars (the attached image does not move or flicker, its just bad to look at) and the only way to exit was to quit the game . Ik flashing lights can trigger a lot of things and trying to figure out how to make it stop made me kind of sick to my stomach so i guess this is a beware sort of thing ? for people who have not yet finished tish/reths lv 5 friendship or exited a cutscene to the flashign bars dimension
Does anyone know if you have to collect new things for the bulletin board (main two) or can you use your inventory stuff? It's not letting me deposit oyster meat
I think it has to be freshly colected
it only worked when i freshly collected for mine
unrelated, I just noticed that there's an auto walk button! this is GREAT for my carpal tunnel! and I discovered it on accident, too. I was literally thinking "Dang, i don't wanna walk over to this place because my wrist kinda hurts.." and then I accidentally hit / and then i noticed i can auto walk and run! :DDDDD
Does anyone know if there's a reflection setting that turns off the super bright/sparkly sun reflection on water?
^also interested in this, i flicked off a setting but it didn't seem to fix it (but i wasn't searching super hard due to the migraines that mean i need it off haha)
Patch notes again have gifs, they start in the water tower subsection and the flashiest one is at the stattvof the premium store section
I found a couple of items that counted if I pulled them off the wall or had them in their little aquarium they counted. Others not so much. And I had bars that counted when I pulled them from the smelter. So, always worth a try?
Things from crafters or that were placed on the plot count, just things from inventory don't :-)
slowly making my way through #1382766801590419457 message
I don't, I wish there was because good grief it's sometimes super hard to see the fishing pools when the sun is shining on it.
On sort of a related note, I decreased my x and y movement thing, and now I find it much harder to catch fish as my mouse is going too slow from left to right. I really wish they would make fishing easier.
I use all the buffs, but it's still hard, like some of us are on the somewhat older side
It doesn't quite give me a migraine like it does for cass but it's just very hard to have to look at :( guess I'll continue to try to find shadows to fish in
worth noting that i Always have a migraine (unfortunately for me) so i'm just very photosensitive in general - also means i can't just wait it out and i do like to play the game
is why i tend to fish most of the time in the underground unless i need something specific
I've been getting "carsick" while playing Palia recently
Had to take a step back from running around with friends and do more solo to control it
i've also had to be careful for a couple of days because i was getting a very similar sensation! no idea what's triggering it for me, maybe moving too fast is causing a similar issue to the reflections for me
Not sure why it started all of a sudden for me either. I've been playing the game for years now and it just started up
that's really unfortunate :( hopefully whatever it is gets caught and fixed quickly
I’ve also noticed that I’ve been getting more headaches now that I’ve been playing Palia more but I thought it was just the tv time…. Looking at the chat I’m wondering if its the graphics/ movement now as well… interesting to pay attention to
feeling motion sick was nearly constant for me when I first started playing, i didn't know anything about what settings in game or to my system to help it, but it's less common (not gone, definitely not gone) for me most updates with a better monitor, f.lux, disable camera shake, enable center reticle, and maybe some other stuff.
camera shake went off immediately for me haha, what's the center reticle?
Idk if this will help you specifically, but I have a friend who felt like this after accidentally changing their anti-aliasing setting, switching it to another one helped. Maybe that is what it is for you?
With this round of seasonal theming in kilima (starting back in october) the tree animation was broken for a bit causing a serious flicker, there's more contrast in the trees generally, the snow (on the ground all BRIGHT twinkling away and the particle effect), and the lighting is borked again. Some of that bleeds over into the other maps too, plus whatever other changes were made to display/graphics that wasn't noted (every few patches I have to reset those and retweak them because something changed and everything hurts again).
...i have noticed this specifically in kilima more i think, hmm. something to think about
i do know that a lot of white on the screen doesn't tend to play well with my vision anyway so maybe that's not helping? but i assume lynx has seen the snow stuff before and hasn't been affected like this previously
yeah a lot of people - some who didn't even have a thought that they might be photosensitive previously - found that they've had to limit time in Kilima due to the snow this year (there was significantly less last year)
For me, Kilima is fine. It's Bahari and EW that get to me
huh interesting about Bahari, Elderwood though has been a problem from the start (flashes, lighting transition, verticallity, contrast, and such) and never really fixed
i did think the snow was fine for me though. will probably comb through settings again when the game is back up
yeah the elderwood is tricky for me in general but less specifically recently if that makes sense?
maybe i'm misremembering though
One thing you might want to try that works for me is playing in window mode where you can see some of your desktop behind the game as like a 'frame' it supposedly helps your brain understand what's moving and what's not if you have something stationary around it
I have to play most games like this or I get sick
My motion sickness is very tied to my current health but I don't think anything has changed game wise. If I have a sinus migraine I just have to stop playing.
Also if it's only new and only on some maps you might be getting a very weird frame rate, my partner gets sick from stuttery frame rates
i should try this at some point but on a 15.6" laptop screen it'd be pretty hard without causing other issues, might be easier once i get a proper desk set up
That's how I play too. I discovered that early on. Appreciate all the tips though because it's affecting me logging in to play nowadays.
Hope it goes away soon I know how awful that is 🥺
seems that underground market firework exploit is fully fixed
Elite Equestrian has a flash, fireworks, and floating petals when it's equipped
Year of the Riffroc Glider does have effects, but in the preview they look more mild than last year's
Is there a way to turn down the snow? It's very loud and it hurts.
If you're on PC, try lowering your effects setting. It should help stiffle the glitter.
okay,so the new lunar path xp bar is kind of a 50% light blue on a 25% light blue background. I wonder why they did that, I can hardly see it
Not sure if it works, but I'll play a bit longer see if the headache ebbs. Thanks!

the lighting on the hot pot in the market is even worse than the one in the UG. I would have thought it was my monitor but everything else looks fine
it fluctuates which is weird
it's so frustrating, I just want to be able to easily see the cards. 🙁
oh! does anyone have a hard time differentiating between the yellow and orange hotpot card colours? especially when they're in the middle of the table
i forgot i struggle with this haha
The colors have been very washed out for some reason -- it's hard to tell sometimes depending on how the lighting is at a specific table
yeah :( it's unfortunate
i think me and palia's lighting seem to not be getting on well in general
maybe my migraine meds just start working and this becomes a non issue. a void can dream
Yeah the orange and yellow or the yellow and grey(?)
Is anyone else having issues with hot pot getting bright while playing? It hurts my eyes @3@;
Yes, and also going dark, light, light
Yes, and when someone sets off the big fireworks show, it turns into a flashbang strobe light show and I have to close my eyes or it makes me feel ill.
yeah I had that the last time I was on. It's terrible @3@;
the hot pot is annoying me so much it's even worse than the UG, which at least stays too light. I wonder what they did, maybe two patches ago
the flashing from the fireworks... ):
Let us use our color tickets all at once for the whole color set. Let us buy items from shops in bulk. It’s taxing for some to have to individually click things like that. Including everyone with such a simple thing would be positive. I have submitted suggestion tickets on the palia website months ago about this (the shop part in particular).
This 🙂↕️ someone was spamming fireworks at the campground so fast that I couldn’t even leave; I just had to set my controller down and walk away, and I feel bad cause like they were just having fun with fireworks
I just wanted to share this reddit post about the need of certain things being hard to see and the need for a setting that would cause things to be highlighted (like in the fishing minigame when your view is obstructed):
https://www.reddit.com/r/Palia/s/n3Xogu48AG
I think it's a valid argument.
So I’m not the only one leaving fishing and bug catching behind cause they are hard to see.
I’m used to not have the full game experience cause of accessibility but maybe if we are a good group things can be “fixed” so we can enjoy it too
Thanks, and I see there is already the person who is all "but some things should be more difficult". FFS. I can't even with those people.
I would love to have some kind of auditory feedback when a new dish is being cooked.
Attended a sashimi party tonight and almost missed a few rounds because I hadn't realised a new dish had started
Hi! I am autistic, I have poor working memory - would it be possible, in a pinned list and in the quest description, to show an image of the item? - this would help me a lot, as at the moment I have to pause the game repeatedly to lookup the item. My poor memory prevents me from thinking to keep the image open, I have carers to support me with my poor memory, but I don't use my care time for gaming.
To add on to this, guides that tell us where and how to get items, especially fish. I'm sick of having to constantly google search what bait to use and where I need to fish because I, also autistic with poor working memory, can't retain the information.
Yea, I saw.
I don't understand what the issue is with having an optional setting in a non-competetive game.
I commented:
If every game maker had the attitude of
"if the game is to hard for you beacause you have eye/movement etc. problem, then go look for a game with accomodations",
no game would have acomodations.
Also, having an optional setting in a non-competetive multiplayer game isn't gonna cause problem for players who don't need it, but is defienietly gonna be useful for those who do.
In this specofic scenario, the devs wouldn't even have to make that much, since "highlighted fish" already exist if your view is obstructed by a rock or someting.
---
Because like, seriously.
I know it's not an in-game one, but the official wiki has a list at https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Fish#List_of_Fish (note that you have to expand the table). There should also be other ones for other items like bugs or creatures. I know it's not a perfect solution, but it might be a workaround...
Thank you but that's exactly what I was just complaining about, I have to go outside of the game to search for things. Palia wiki is what I use already.
It would be kinda cool to have an in-game compendium like in some other games.
I mean like when you have tabs labeled "ocean fish", "river fish" etc. and the pictures are silouetes or question marks.
And possibly: when you tap on that silouete/question mark it gives you a little tip on how to get it.
Edit.: tried to fix typos
Sorry for any weird mistakes and stuff, it's not my native language.
I agree, that'd be great! Even just an (easily reachable) list of all of them would be helpful, similar to how they are in the achievements.
!feedback would be the best place to let the devs know about all this, as they won't necessarily see it in here. Not mandatory of course, and I know you might already have sent some, wanted to note it just in case :-)

And naturally in that reddit post there are people complaining that people without disabilities would use accessibility features to make the game easier. IT IS A VIDEO GAME. Who cares who uses accessibility features. maybe your game is too hard to start with. People and their ridiculous ideas of competition and things needing to be hard to be worth it. Not saying that people who enjoy the challenge shouldn't enjoy it or be forced to use accessibility features they don't want - but it should also be accepted that people want to have fun and making things a little easier in simple ways can accomplish a lot and both groups can have fun in their own ways. Having accessibility features available won't ruin the game for people who like to play on hard mode. Go have fun do what you want.
Also yes fishing should be a lot easier. Half the time I can't even tell when the fish is jumping out of the water and I'm supposed to let go of the controler. Also can we talk about how fussy cooking is again? COOKING IS SUCH A PAIN! having to chop in extremely precise timing is ridiculous. Also that thing where you have to let go at the right moment to flip the things in the pain? Yeah no...
And yeah I always use the Palia Wiki to figure out all the steps for a quest. I don't care if that's cheating or whatever. I just want to know what I need to do to complete the quest without having to run around figuring everything out. Geez.... again - things don't always have to be done on hard mode to be worth it. Some things are just about having fun. (For some value of fun - again I get that some people have more fun playing on hard mode but that doesn't mean there's anything wrong with those of us who don't)
I mean yeah, that makes sense. There's really no problem with this idea. If you want the game to be harder, dont use accessibility options then. It makes no difference in regards to rewards or what you get. If there was a problem with this accessibility option reaping more of a reward than "regular" play, I could have a better understanding of the opposing side.. but there just is no real advantage reward-wise.
I just feel that’s literally every game! Ive been playing games for 25 years and i have always had to look outside the game for info. You used to have buy books back in the day to learn all the tips and tricks.
I have a poor memory just in general, and I use palia tracker for information about how/when to catch fish and bugs
It tells you time, area, and for fishes, what bait
It also has a search bar
I just wanted to add some positivity to this thread that I’m so grateful this game is able to be played one handed! I had a bad accident a few months ago and had to give up a lot and Palia has really helped keep me feeling like myself. Thanks Palia! Please never get rid of the ability to auto walk haha. Anyone going thru it in life take it one day at a time you’ve got this!!
My take on it is that accessibility options are beneficial to everyone in general, because you never know when you're going to rely on them. Most of us take for granted being able to do certain things, but accidents happen, surgeries can happen and it's in those moments when accessibility features can become necessary.
Sadly some people (not directed at anyone) have that mentality of "making things easier", when in reality it's only evening the field for people who certain skills are 10 times harder than the average player. It's sad really.
it's like the ones in general who complain that the bundle boards/community events are too easy. Maybe it is. For THEM. For not for OTHERS. Palia is marketed as a chill game, it has nothing that attacks you, there's no fighting, etc. If they want challenge then they could go play another game that gives them that. Or make it themselves. All I can figure is that these people just don't care about others. It's pretty low to attack suggestions from people with disabilities to make a game more accessible. For example, being able to see bugs is pretty much the bare minimum.
When one of these people die, of old age, in their sleep (I am NOT wishing harm on anyone), their death notice is not going to say "and they were really good at fishing in Palia", and it won't be inscribed on their tombstone, either.
I can understand, as a "veteran" player, wanting to have something to work towards. My opinion is that ideally there would be two options players could choose from: a harder bundle for those who want a challenge and a lower difficulty one for those who simply want to chill. But the problem with the game just seems to be that there's no balance, as shown with the previous bundle having RNG and MSQ locked items, the bundles are either too difficult or too easy, with some rare exceptions.
I am at a loss as to why you apparently have come into an accessibility channel advocating for more parts of the game to be less accessible. The easy bundles are hard enough for us. A harder bundle would just lock out more of the game.
Sorry, I'm confused by your message. I have not asked for them to do this, I was simply sharing an idea that ideally, they could offer alternatives to players so they chould choose which one to do (between a harder bundle and an easier one, with the same rewards). My apologies if it wasn't explained clearly.
I was very unhappy and complained at lenght about the difficulty of the last bundle and how overall inacessible it was, and also agreed in my previous post about how some people take accessibility for granted. I was simply saying how ideally they could have both options for players so they can both appease those who want a challenge while also not excluding players who can't access the bundles.
The game should absolutely be more accessible, many people have put suggestions forward to make the game more playable for everyone, and the devs should really take those suggestions into account when creating new content.
However you have to see the hypocrisy of saying things like "if they want more of a challenge they can find another game" right? I would never say something like "if you want an easier/more accessible game find another."
Ideally we would have content to make everyone happy with differing levels of difficulty
I don't expect them to do this, but maybe then they could meet players in the middle.
Yeah, I don't assume everyone who asks for harder bundles is because they don't care. Sure, there's the people who sadly believe accessibility is simply making things too easy (which it isn't), but sadly it's also just really easy to take these things for granted, cause in majority of cases you don't know how necessary accessibility is until you're in need of it.
If it wasn't clear, I don't want them to make the game more challenging/inacessible, but at least giving players alternatives until they can rework their systems to be more accessible could be a faster solution to meet everyone in the middle.
Yeah for sure, it feels like there are a few convos getting conflated into one.
People can ask for a bit of a challenge without wanting the game to be inaccessible. People can say the game isn't accessible enough (there are huge gaps in accessibility in the skills area especially) without wanting the game to be without challenges.
At the end of the day we all want to be able to enjoy the game, and having more options for players to curate their own experience, in a non-competitive game (as mentioned) is going to be better than less options.
Sorry for going on a rant.
Ah, now I understand what you're getting at. The context of the discussion earlier was people on the Reddit post saying that the game shoudl have more challenge. I was reading your comments in that context, because that had been the discussion.
Adding here: I am super sensitive about this because In. Every. Single. MMO. I. Have. Played. people who ask about accommodations get other players coming back with "just accept there are bits of the game you can't do".
Yeah that's not okay.
No problem, I understand. It's why I also don't understand the mentality of thinking accessibility turns the game on "easy mode" because it literally isn't. It's just making things fair for everyone.
Exactly.
Friendly reminder to keep things respectful and constructive
I know there is a lot of passion in accessibility, myself included, but please remember that tone cannot be heard in a text based conversation.
Popping my head in as a lurker, from this convo and my own experience as a disabled player, it really feels like a part of the issue is the difference between making something easier and making something accessible. Making a change for accessibility WILL make elements easier for some players, but that's not the reason for it.
You can keep the challenge in by increasing amount, or rarity, or timing of items while increasing accessibility by making the method of getting it different.
It kind of reminds me of the very common "skip cutscene" feature. It doesn't effect a player if another player wants to skip or watch a cutscene. Just like it doesn't affect someone else if you want to skip the cooking minigame
Things seem perfectly respectful and constructive in here tho? I've been lurking and like. Any misunderstandings were already cleared up
Your first paragraph was exactly what I was trying to articulate! Thank you!
Yeah, it's all good here I'd say, we cleared up the misunderstanding
I know tensions were a bit high but it's all good now, we all just have feelings about this.
Oh yeah I definitely have Feelings too lmao. The subreddit is allowing a very ableist post to stay up and it makes me angrier than my usual angy but like just. Man
It's upsetting how long of a fight this has been to get proper accessibility and being ignored
I wish I'd get an answer when I ask about their supposed accessibility audit but my question always gets ignored lol
totally get that, friendly reminders never hurt when things get tense
I agree, it is upsetting for accesibility as a whole (not talking about just the game)
It's been how many months since they said they were gonna do an audit and... Just yeahhh. It's why I feel a bit of annoyance any time I see someone say to go to feedback. We have. For years. And then they claim they're doing an accessibility audit, we hear nothing, and we still get massive issues that take longer than they should to fix (looking at you, underground fireworks)
I apologise for jumping down your throat. The problem word for me is "challenge". I normally only see that used in an ableist way.
And I carry a preset idea of what is meant by that word, that in this case wasn't warranted.
Over half a year
No worries, I understand /gen. It's why I explained my idea again cause I know this is a sensitive subject and I also have been very upset when it's come to subjects that resonate with me. We came to an understanding and that's all that matters
Man it's hard to believe it's been this long, it almost feels like it was ages ago
On the Reddit post, people have even upvoted the ableist comments. That's pretty low, even for troll upvoting.
I can't say I'm terribly surprised considering some of the things I've seen people say in this discord even, but it never stops being disappointing/upsetting
I'm sadly not surprised, I don't know if there's any reddit mods here but that comment should be deleted.
i was gonna put in a feedback to at least let people turn off the fireworks if there's gonna be an achievement that incentivises you to shoot a bunch at once but it seems from that like it's been on their radar for a while 🙃
i hate how accessibility is often just put aside or left as an optional extra for some (most) things like this
I still have that screenshot sitting on my desktop
I hate that they keep adding new, more elaborate fireworks, but no option to turn them off for people with sensitivity to flashing lights
I don't have a light sensitivity and the fireworks STILL drive me up a wall most of the time
For context as to what Ciri is refering to (this was pinned as well) (Dated: 13th Feb, 2025)
I had to turn down the effects sound the other day because they were so loud. I couldn't even hear my friend in the background call.
And agreed, I'm not light sensitive either but they can be very bright and eye straining
i mean if it was in the patch notes it's kind of a given that people thought that it was a) in the game already or b) at least in the works once they clarified the mistake
how does that get in there if it's not even on the horizon
I'd just like to say I feel personally victimized because I saw the date in this screenshot and was like, "Oh, an udpate I didn't see!" and then realized your date wasn't in freedom format, but instead in day-month-year.
At that time, there was no CM, so we assume the patch notes were written by rabid chapaas with no real information on what was actually in the patch outside of premium content.
You also would have to have seen the many, many discussions leading up to the screenshot that PalCat posted where WizardCrab was asked about the toggle and never once indicated that it didn't exist until he was asked point blank "did this ever exist"
Oh trust, for those of us who were present that day we also had no words. (or well, many rather but
)
like. what was their plan there lmao just never admit it??
like i'm not gonna claim that i'm well versed in game dev but i have enough programming experience that that is just bewildering to me
He pretended he had no idea we thought it was a real thing. This conversation took place almost a year ago. Still no toggle.
not that that experience is necessary for that particular emotion i'm sure
this is definitely a response! huh!
So...
Dev says "I created this setting"
Setting put into patch notes then removed
Other dev says "You guys believed that it was actually real?"
.<
It was a very special time in this server. There were a lot of ... big feelings. And some of us still have very big feelings about this interaction. It's me, I'm some of us. All I want in this world is to turn off outfit VFX and fireworks.
I wish there was some stuff they could do like: when the bloom event is on, if there are more than 3 players, turn everyone into a ghost so I can SEE the things to water.
reading all this after nearly giving up on hotpot altogether today because not only am i having lighting issues and my controller vibrates every time a firework is set off but now there's fishing rods glitching through the table and flickering is. something :)
i can't even imagine being there for this actually happening even just reading about it is absurd
The table flickering in the LNY hot pot is even worse than the table colours in the underground. It's so hard to see the cards when they're washed out, and to have it wash out, become slightly okay, wash out, become slightly okay makes me think my monitor is dying
y'all who are still in here talking and fighting for this stuff have my highest respect for that
oh it's awful. yellow is orange and gray is brown and orange is brown and-
graphic design contrast is my passion
at least if it was constant then i could try and do something with my screen settings but no!
also the lights flickering every quarter hour to signify the time passing!!
sorry i'm chill i'm fine
palia stress testing my new migraine med and oh boy is it stressed
oh is THAT what's doing it, I would like to have a coffee chat with the person who decided that was a good idea. Sometimes I wonder if these decisions are made by staff who play the game. Reminding people of time is a good idea, there has got to be a better way, though.
depends on how frequently it's happening for you but yeah definitely messes up my hotpot lighting a bit
It definitely didn't use to be this bad
Like, every hotpot match I've played now the light is very dim and hard to see, the only time it gets brighter is when I know it's already past 3 am in game.
The brightness of day in Kilima mixed in with the snow is why I only go out into Kilima during the night time. It is too bright on my eyes and often times I have to recalibrate gamma settings in order to prevent an incoming migraine.
The zooming in and out is awful, too
I don't have as much issue with it myself, but I can understand it being motion sickness inducing, the one that really gets me at least is the zooming in during watering/tilling soil. But yes, I can definitely understand :/ mine gets a bit choppy sometimes but that might just be my laptop
Again, this is where a toggle would be greatly appreciated. Give players the option to enable or disable the zooming in when it's your turn.
It's just small details like these that can really make a whole lot of difference.
It doesn't even really affect the gameplay either, since you can check what cards have been discarded in the game already anyways. Just helps a lot more with visibility and is the way other computer card games are too (in my experience at least).
You can check people's hands while you're playing?
Oh I meant the cards discarded, I got confused for a minute
my bad.
I was thinking of something else mid sentence and got distracted
All been there, I was wha-too many duplicate a letters- t
Einar pls let us be
it seems like some patch in December broke hot pot colours for me. I remember it used to be fine, except for one table at the front that I avoided. Now it's all tables
I just did my garden, and am reminded of how fiddly it is to pick stuff and plant it, because of the camera angle/focus. Also very annoying for trying to select a ranching animal 🙁
It's so bad at the LNY festival!
So hard to distinguish the colours and shapes on the grey cards especially
Mine looks like this too. The exposure is so high that it strains my eyes to play 😭 and the color/light flickers really bother my partner
The snow also really strains my eyes. I had to stop playing in Kilima last night because of it
Yeah it's bad :/
The overexposure
man mine's been the complete opposite but I think I'd take it over this
It comes and goes, it's the moonlight that makes it this bad. When the moon is gone it's almost too dark lol
Yep, that's exactly what I am seeing as well. And the orange and yellow looks almost exactly the same.
beautiful migraine time with people spamming fireworks
Does anyone know when the seagrass garden landscape discount ends? I couldn't find any information about this issue's discount in the sales news.:(
is there a way to play Palia one handed on a switch? If so what adapter works so game play is smooth?
I did my firework achievement by going close to the entrance and letting them off there, hoping it would affect the fewest number of people. If S6 either 1. didn't have the achievement or 2. had a set area where you could let them off inside the fairground, and all effects were contained to that area.
there's a fireworks achievement???
i did a callout for mine and went and hid on the hill
idk how much it helped but hopefully if anyone needed they had time to get out (also not during market hours)
i do genuinely think the achievement is a bad idea if you can't turn off the fireworks
sure is, which is why its gonna be interesting on how to tackle this issue when you cant really avoid people who just want to complete their stampcards
wait... where do u see that
i dont think I know where that board is?? sorry I'm a switch player and my game freezes every time I breathe so I'm a Lil slow with it
Press the + button, then navigate to the "feature guide" option, you can cycle through the tabs with ZL and ZR.
oh
oh my god that option destroys my game & makes me freeze or crash so I kept avoiding it thank you 😭
oh yeah i can't go on the event bit without it causing issues but the last tab on that same page works fine for me! (pc on controller)
which also has the stamp cards :)
I followed the example of a friend and did it when the market was closed, from the highest point I could reach. But unfortunately most people won't know how harmful those things are. I'm disappointed that this is the third year that's been included in the stamp card because I know they've received ample feedback about it in the past.
Same, I've also done mine when the market's close and there's few people, I also try to use the least flashy ones I can have (since I throw most of them away anyways) but it's why that VFX toggle is so urgent and necessary :/ Same for more sound sliders cause the fireworks are so loud
I wish there were a way to get them to understand how vital this is. I'm surprised the market hasn't sent anyone to the hospital like the snowballs. I'm guessing because people are aware of the fireworks issues in the market by now and just avoid it as best they can.
you would think the underground market firework exploit should be enough to show how bad it is considering the firework effects themselves are on your face especially with how we shot them in a peculiar way
The snowballs sent someone to the hospital? (not doubuting just making sure I understand your meaning- what happened with that? I just ended up trashing most of them since I didn't know what else I was suppseod to do with them
you can throw them at someone, and the vfx can be enough to trigger photosensitivity issues
oh getting them thrown at you! okay I got it. Should have thought of that.
Gotcha. Thank you.
Iirc, someone in this channel shared they did get a seizure from the lures/fireworks in UG :/ but no one should end up in the hospital for the game to improve tbh
I woud leavefeedback for them to install an option for it to be disabled for you or players senstive, rather than fully remove
That's what we're asking for. A client-sided option to toggle off the fireworks and other VFX ourselves. We're not asking that they remove the fireworks that some people seem to enjoy. We're asking for the option to not experience them.
I will say for anyone playing on PC, if you turn down the graphics, especially the effects setting, it helps somewhat. I never liked the fireworks, but didn't realize until I got a better PC how bright and flashy they really were.
I read that that is what they are asking for, for clarity was just saying feedback is more optional will take some time though, so it doesn't break anything, butt he devs are pretty good at listening.
That's the thing though, many of us have been asking and have submitted/continuously submitting feedback about this and other accessibility options...for a long time.
It's honestly quite disheartening as a disabled person.
Yeah, I can only imagine and I really hope that more accessibility options come to the game. (Like I don't have issues except sometimes the brightness of the snow hurting my eyes a bit. But I feel for everyone who isn't able to do XYZ because there aren't accessibility options and games should be as accessible as possible to as many players as possible).
We've been asking for months. Nay, years. Trust me when I say we have run the entire marathon of begging for accessibility options like this including every option you can probably think of.

3 years and 6 months of asking at the least
As other people mentioned, we have been submitting feedback forms.
It's been an issue for a very long time, and we request for those things even more (through feedback along with just discussing it overall in discord) once they started adding even more VFX things. (more fireworks, flares, other premium outfits, the glitches/bugs that happen where things flash & flicker, etc)
I know I've suggested these things since early open beta
, and I know some folks here who have done the same. It's also why we hope for things like this to get added sooner than later, because it could potentially be more difficult to add or implement the longer it takes, with more things with VFX being added.
(pretty sure placeable starred preserves have been requested for just as long too, it wasn't first asked for at the last minute during the Jamboree)
an old round up of accessibility requests/suggestions as well tips for players from October 2023 (back then folks would make documents or spreadsheets, it was before the google form)
I think also people who aren't affected by these issues don't really get just how hampering it can be. Or how difficult it can be to get people to pay attention, especially in the states. This whole thing reminds me tangentially of an issue a YouTuber had for three years with twitchcon not having adequate accommodations to get on stage w his fellow creators. (GoodTimesWithScar for those not familiar, the man cannot walk at all and is very visibly in a wheelchair. No ramps were provided for him for three separate consecutive events.) It was only this last year that he got to talk directly to someone at twitch about it, and I think that only happened because he has a couple million subs/fans and other creators that made a big deal of it. If someone with that much influence has to struggle to get rep, you can imagine how the average person who struggles might feel.
I just arrived back but reading back and just reiterating what everyone is saying.
The only things that should be removed or disabled are exploits that can harm players healths, as seen with the underground fireworks issue. And it's why we've been asking for ages now for a VFX toggle, written and sent feedback forms and even had a dev and Lacie iirc, read our suggestions.
I think earlier fireworks ... or maybe snowballs? had one or two mention that it caused or exacerbated migraines to the point of needing to go to the er for rescue meds as well
So quite frankly, even if the devs might be good at listening, it's kinda telling that accessibility isn't a priority currently. It's also why we're asking for more transparency and updates, cause then at least we could see there's advances being done. (not to attack the devs ofc, but some things like these are far more pressing than other issues in game)
It's just kinda sad so many people can't access a game they like because it might put their health at risk, or they just can't play it period cause the game doesn't accommodate for certain impairments :/
I also did mine when it was closed. Waiting for day time also has the benefit of being lower contrast
And it really sucks that it took so long and so much for it to happen, because IMO, it's just basic empathy and consideration for others to have accessibility for as many people/players as possible.
I didn't actually know how bad it could get at LNY until I stepped in the other day and a few players were shooting a lot of fireworks, it was really loud.
And I know not everyone knows how it can affect others and I don't assume malice when people do it, but the game has so many incentives to shoot them, I can't blame most players for doing so (except those who purposefully do it to grief others)
yeah like every player is incentivised to shoot off like 10 at once in an area that already has lighting issues and it sucks, hard
not a malicious thing for sure i agree it is just something we should be able to disable :/
especially since accessibility accommodations often help people other ways - captions and visual versions of the directional audio cues help if you have to play without sound for any reason, turning off VFX could help with a lower spec machine - so it helps retain players whether they're disabled or not
i love captions my best friend
This exactly, it benefits everyone. You never know when you're going to need accessibility options and many of us even have used some on a day to day basis without realising. Not to mention you never know if you'll need to rely on them cause of an accident or a surgery! It's really so easy to take for granted how needed they can be.
also agree with this that i think people who aren't affected or as affected by some of this stuff really don't realise how bad it can be for us sometimes
i do agree with the rising tides point but also i think disabled people should be able to access accommodations without appealing to it, if that makes sense? even if it improves things for everyone it is worth doing because it directly helps if that makes sense
doing it for disabled people is worth it even if it didn't help anyone else
not that i think you disagree with this i am wordsing bad
I can say that was my case, while I had some awareness of accessibility options, it definitely didn't affect me as much as it does for others. But after the snowball issue that was very obviously a health hazard, even for me, it was frustrating to see the way it was handled and how these issues still pop up from time to time.
Like, we can never fully live in someone else's shoes, but it's why we can only try to exercise empathy and advocate for it.
I don't know if it was mentioned here, but i know in the past ppl mentioned multiple ER visits. I know recently someone mentioned they had to take medicine because of the flashes from the cutscene. It really hurts my heart when these things happen, because it just... shouldn't happen. at all.
i think sometimes about the curb cut effect and how i couldn't actually use one of them near where i live because there was a grate right next to it in the way of where i needed my wheelchair to go. and that is something that probably wouldn't affect other people who benefit from curb cuts but is still important to consider? i am not explaining myself well at all today sorry
Oh no yeah I definitely agree with you. I've had both relatives and friends with chronic pain/disabilities and it definitely shouldn't be that way at all.
bad example i think from me but it felt pertinent because it is called the curb cut effect lmao
I think our point of saying it's beneficial for everyone is cause of how some people view it as not necessary/making the game easier/etc, when in reality it's just making things fairer.
yeah the fact this has been an ongoing issue of people getting seriously hurt by this is just. not okay. and shouldn't be happening especially when the fix is right there being asked for
it sucks having to explain to my friends that there functionally aren't movies or games that are "safe" for me with the photosensitivity issue, and i'm not even epileptic (and seizures can literally kill people!!)
yeah i get you i just hate that line of thinking by that kind of person haha
And I know for myself, this game has given me many headaches and migraines. Times where it lasts almost an entire day, even when I was in the game for maybe 5 minutes or less. The premium outfits vfx overstimulates me, and specifically, one of the bow skins effects has also given me a huge migraine and i had to pretty much take a break. (Im not even sure if other skin effects would give this, I just remember encountering this once and I was kinda just.. yeah. It covered so much of my screen.)
It's one of the reasons I don't play anymore. So much of the game is starting to just get worse. Last time I loaded up the game, it was flickering every once in a while (specifically flickered shifting from night to day and vice versa), and some of the hit markers when you do skills ends up getting to me (mining, chopping, specifically).
It's just a shame, really. And it also just gets tiring after a while to keep asking for a VFX toggle- for premium outfits, fireworks, etc. And even a brightness and contrast slider (NOT just Gamma.)
Yeah, same
I can never fully experience what someone with photo sensitivity does, but I can only at least put myself in their place and advocate for their safety, it's just basic human empathy I think.
i think it's just simultaneously the case where abled people often do not understand how they are benefited and have benefited from accessibility measures in their day to day lives and that validating that it's only "necessary" if it can help them too is. difficult you know
too many thought in my head and too many migraine to articulate them well >:(
you're good. It for sure shouldn't be needed, I added it mostly for the implication that by not doing it they're limiting their growth and daily active users (and thus conversions to premium content) in more than one way (for the type of business leaders who hammer metrics and dollars who will never see this...)
yeah in fairgrounds it flickers on purpose to show the time change and it is just. awful
9pm 12am 3am do it, idk about 6pm/am
oh absolutely yeah. and for people that do not care about disabled people it is effective rhetoric for sure
(or do not prioritise us at the very least)
towards those people i mean
Yeah, maybe. I just remember it flickered like 2 diff colours like it wasn't sure which "lighting" it wanted to do or filter, haha. And it didn't used to be a thing, or at least that bad, in the past.
I dont think i can even really pinpoint when i first noticed it. I know it was there at least when they had autumn decoration stuff, cuz I remember the trees struggling & flickering too lol
but yeah the game is getting harder and harder for me to play (had a bad moment in the chappa chase when i last played, all the hotpot issues, fireworks) and it sucks
there seems like much more flickering from stuff in the game than there used to be/i used to see and idk why
I just... I kinda get the feeling they don't have any disabled people play testing anything. There are so many glaring accessibility issues. Don't get me wrong I'm absolutely LOVING the LNY market. But I really can't shake the feeling they didn't playtest it enough or.. at all.. 😭
From what I hear of ppl talking about the LNY market, too, they didn't fix any of the issues from last year. The hotpot tables were hard to see visually during that, too. I remember struggling because of the weird lighting it had. And the fireworks, of course. It's... kind of upsetting.
there is one player I noticed before who kept shooting them at the ground, relatively near the hot pot tables
if I see them doing it again, I will report them. when I was doing the achievement, I was firing them directly overhead me, and towards the back cliffs
oh yeah it is so glaring to me too (especially given i did my cs degree with the intention of going into accessibility before my life blew up)
I'm sorry that happened. 😭 that's great that you plan to report them if you see them again, I will too if I see that happening. Regardless, if we had the option to toggle off fireworks, no one would've had to be exposed to that in the first place, yknow? 🫠
like this is the exact kind of thing i wanted to be able to help with hahaha
I'm fine with them, I was wondering why someone was doing it, by fine I mean I don't get probelms from them going off
probably why i've had so many thoughts tonight sorry everyone
Don't apologize! Your voice and your thoughts are valid
also gave me the specific insight of how some coders see "softer" parts of the degree like... learning how people interact with your systems and coding them with your audience in mind (including disabled people) and it is not pretty
is there any other than trolling reason why a person would be shooting the fireworks into the ground? I thought it was weird at the time
like how people interact with what you make is priority number one imo but i am well aware i am not most people
I'm guessing possibly just ignorance, if it wasn't trolling/griefing
could honestly be something as simple as just discovering the achievement and going ham right where they stood
but why firing into the ground and not up?
wait you can fire them up
i thought you had to fire them at the ground where they'd go
is that not how it works?
I believe the intention is for you to shoot them up into the sky - or at least, that is how I have always done it
I'd like to assume them just, shooting them wherever :/ Hard to tell though since the whole firework UG issue but
idk i think i saw it as setting it off at the ground then it goes up from there. i could just be an idiot though
did save me from having to look at the fireworks when i did mine in the hills with the callout tho i guess
Honestly that makes sense tho, since that's how real fireworks work
Yeah, for a while, I thought you had to shoot them at the ground or wall. Thought they had to "hit" something for them to go off
i feel very silly realising that that is not the case haha
Haha, I think quite a few people thought that was the case. I know a few of my friends did the same thing back during the first Maji market!
You may be thinking of flare arrows which activate when they hit something solid, like the ground or a sernuk (which doens't spook them).
oh! it might be because i learnt how to use flare arrows first so i just assumed it worked the same for the fireworks since i don't use them
did not know it didn't spook the sernuks!
we used fireworks as flares for a chunk of time and you can't shoot them straight up so if you want them to be over a specific spot you gotta shoot the ground with theme at that spot
I was the opposite and took a while to figure out why the flares weren't working. 🙂 I've used flares to mark the location of the proudhorned sernuk intentionally (and many chapaas unintentionally).
Accessibility / UX Feedback: “Use Quality Ingredients” Checkbox
- The “Use Quality Ingredients” checkbox is unclear.
- By default, recipes use only non-quality ingredients.
- The system does not mix quality and non-quality ingredients.
This behavior is not communicated by the checkbox or UI. I am autistic, I reported this as a bug until playing around with it.
!feedback In case you'd like to make sure this gets directly to the dev team at S6, the link/form below will send your feedback in to the team!
In case it's helpful, the "use starred quality" check box on the recipe cue card is more like a "prioritize starred quality ingredients" option. Checking that option allows you to use both starred and non-starred ingredients in one recipe. It will use the starred quality ingredient first, and then switch to non-starred version of the ingredient after the starred quality has been expended.
So in one example, you have starred quality produce but non-starred quality meat, checking the box will allow you to use your starred produce and your non-starred meat in one recipe.
In another example, you are rolling wheat for noodles. You have 5 starred wheat and 5 unstarred wheat to use. Checking the box will allow you to use the starred quality wheat will be used first, and then the unstarred quality wheat will be used after.

You can do either - if you want your fireworks to explode far off, aim outwards and shoot them like a regular arrow. If you want them to explode above you/nearby above, then you treat them like a flare arrow.
I remember learning that fireworks could be launched into the air by bouncing them off the ground bc I saw s6 staff doing it during an alpha test so I do believe that was the intention of how to launch them, but both methods work. This was also well before flare arrows were added.
Please could someone help me understand hotpot? I have a mild intellectual disability and so I need some extra steps in the explanation. I’ve read the whole wiki page on it slowly a few times. I understand that you match three colours with three different food pictures, or three of the same food pictures to win. I don’t understand how I can make three complete sets with only eight cards? Does the card infront of my eight still count as mine? How come the winner has nine and how can I get nine?
Yes, the card that you pick up still counts as part of the 9. So, the 9th card that you need for winning will always be the one you draw from the center of the table.
Thank you. So once I make two full complete sets plus a matching two, I need to try and keep the card in front of me to match the two incomplete set?
When you have two completed sets, and two cards from the last set, you will win the instant you draw the card that you still need. For example, let's say you currently have three carrots, three shrimps and two heat roots. As soon as you draw the third heat root, you win the game. Basically, for winning it counts all the cards that are in your area.
Ahhh this is making more sense now the example helps thank you. What about if I had only matching colours and not matching foods? Would it still automatically win the game or does it have to be matching foods like in your example?
Three of the same thing or three of the same colour
but if you have three of the same colour, they all have to be different, you can't have two corn and a potato
!hotpot (just triggering the bot so it sends the image) It needs to be either thrice the same food, or three different food but the same colour. So, for example for yellow/vegetables:
3 carrots: fine
1 carrot, 1 corn, 1 potato: fine
2 potatoes, 1 carrot: won't work
Hotpot Minigame
- You can access hotpot tables in The Underground between 6:00 PM - 3:00 AM in-game time.
- Finishing a game awards 1x Prize Wheel Coin, while winning awards 2. (You need 2 coins to spin the Prize Wheel)
- How to play the minigame: Wiki - Hotpot
Thank you this has really helped !!
You're welcome, glad it helped!
I WONNN IM SO HAPPY !! Thank you again!!
Congratulations!!
Congratulations! It's very much up to chance so a win is great to get
Hmm I think i understand now ty
This part is what got me tripped up for the longest time!!
is there anything that makes the fishing more accessible? as it is, this is impossible for me to do much specifically because of an inability to put as much strain on my joints as it requires me to in order to fish successfully
there are various fish dish buffs and hook buffs you can use to help in the fishing minigame along with cosmetic fishing bobbers to help you see in the waters, other than that, there arent really any other ways, fishing is one of the most accessible unfriendly skills, if you dont have the skills to track, youre pretty much out of luck
good to know, it's been the only skill I haven't been able to level up because of how inaccessible it is
hopefully they make some changes for it then
Honestly, even without the accessibility issues, fishing is really difficult, in my opinion at least. Add in being disabled and it's just a nightmare 🫠 I need so many epic fish for my vault bundles still. I might try getting boovars and see if I can get the fish that way
Can't even request them, either, since I've never been able to catch one before. When the recent bundles required a unicorn fish I immediately knew I would not be able to finish the bundles.
I feel this so much, I'm thinking the same now that I have Boovars
I have 5 boovars in the hopes of getting all the fish
Is there a way to turn off the camera spinning after petting an animal in the barn?
It makes me dizzy every time.
nope, I've asked them to stop that, and also the zoom in and out on fishing
I thought Boovars only gave you Kilima fish?
I also have trouble with fishing because I have nerve twitches and I'll be trying to catch something and jerk and there goes my fish
Oh, rip. Well, I guess I bought 2 boovars today for nothing then
(at least they turned out cute)
I got excited too but only noticed Kilima fish at least one is a shiny artic with zigzags lol
Wondering if there is any helpful tips for motion sickness. It's only with Palia and only since the Elderwood update that it's been affecting me. And why every time I change something-even after saving- it reverts back. I just can't play anymore because after just a couple minutes I feel sick and get a headache again. (Again, only with palia)
Do you have "persistent center reticle" checked in your game settings? It's on the first tab of the main gameplay settings. It'll put a smallish yellow icon in the center of your screen to focus on. It's not perfect, but it does help some.
yes I believe I do. I followed all the tips and tricks I found and it's still not helping
Adding another complaint about hotpot color differentiation. I got through most of a game without realizing one of my oranges was actually a yellow and I don't have any color issues
I hope that if we all report this, they might fix it. I'm not colourblind although I do have ageing eyes (almost 60) and I'm finding it so hard to see the card colours. I'm going with object memorisation.
Hello! I had seen it mentioned before that the underwater plot skin or whatnot was a bit of an issue for some. I have a friend who wanted to use it for their cooking plot setup and we are looking for more info on if the plot skin is still an issue or if it was corrected/improved. I could totally be thinking of something else but I'm fairly certain this plot skin was quite an issue when it was released.
I think I saw someone suggest playing the game in windowed mode so that your desktop shows around the edges of the screen. It was something about the fixed border / having something that wasn't moving... helped their eyes adjust. I haven't tried it myself, but I made note of it since first person games are rough for me & I wanted to try it.
Depending on the movement that is causing the problem, there may not be an easy fix. For me, the worst is the moving and out in ranching when I interact with the animals. Now that someone mentioned hoeing the garden, I'm getting motion sick from that, too. Fishing isn't so much motion sick as getting a headache from the changing angle.
I've also taken off the detail, as much as possible, from grass etc. That could help, not having blades of grass etc move so fast.
oh, just thought of something else, maybe it's also to do with screen tearing. That's when your screen moves, and the display update is done so that there isn't seamless joining together of parts of the screen.
It's horrible if you see the tearing demonstration in a video, so here is an explanation with one image and no video: https://www.mwave.com.au/blog/what-is-screen-tearing-and-how-to-fix/
The main problem I have with not-interaction-based motion sickness in this game is that I cannot slow down screen rotation, and up and down movement. I have tried, based on some helpful tips I got from another player, but nothing seems to fix it.
Sorry for the wall of text
If you're playing on PC I find using a controller connected helps me (along with windowed)
I don't know if you tried this, but it could help turning off the bloom. (You can always turn it back to what it was)
It helped me somewhat
Assuming you're talking about how fast the camera moves, try changing the camera sensitivity. I'm not sure if it's only for your inputs or also for automatic camera movements though.
So, I have been experiencing flashes when I do a lure. I know there were talks about it in UG, but I'm experiencing it in the open world. I think I've found what is the issue. If you walk on a bug when you're aiming, and the bug gets "down" at that moment, you can experience a quick white flash. I haven't able to screenrecord before. I thought about it today, so I did it. Not sure it's very visible on the video though (it's quickly visible towards the end). What should I do with this video? I know Lacie wanted videos from UG, but I feel like it could be related?
TW on the video though: motion sickness, white flash (maybe)
I purchased the founders pack and have not received any items yet. Is this happening to anyone else?
You can check your Founders Pack items in your wardrobe (clothing), pets collection menu (for the bee), and your Palia coin balance (3400 coins) for the coins.
If you have shut down your game and your system and restarted them entirely, and the items are still not there, you'll need to submit a support ticket.
Oh so it was not only an issue from UG? I just started having this bug like 3 or 4 months ago. In this chat, I've only seen talk about issues in UG. My bad then ^^'
I think I can see what you're reporting/recorded, I think? (Hard to tell, since some of it I think could be mistaken for your VFX from your outfit)
But if I'm understanding correctly, what you're experiencing is different than what we've reported in the past. The issue we've talked about int he past, is moreso the 'hit marker' that they do when hitting things (Rocks, trees, huntables, bugs, etc)
But I think what youre showing is... right at the end, right? like if youre about to go pick it up? I think I saw the flash near the end at teh bottom of your screen?
The hit marker though, that flash, I think is actually intentional. Considering it's been in the game since closed beta.
I still hope it ends up having a toggle and fix, though. Esp since in some situations/camera angles etc, it is so much larger and worse
It's more when the bug turns to loot/collect, like Ciri said, when I'm on it, but also aiming at another bug. It doesn't happen if I'm not aiming but standing on the bug
Yeah, then in that case, I think it's different or could be a mix of them both having some sort of interaction with eachother? Not sure. Best you can do, unfortunately, is putting it in a support ticket/bug report :/
And can also mention it to Lacie if you see her in chat, and link to your msg!
Will do that then! Can we send videos with bug reports?
If I end up seeing Lacie active and in chat, I'll also try to let her know to have a look and link to the msg! Just to make sure it gets seen
Thank you! I rarely see her ^^' Maybe I could send a message to modmail too, so they forward it to her?
I'm sometimes too active for my own good. And yeah, maybe! I know modmail is moreso in regards to discord, but I doubt they'd have an issue with forwarding that since it's def an issue and something that is potentially harmful to folks.
I'm active outside my work/sleep time. But I'm UTC+4, sooo... 12 hours or so from Lacie xD
I had a reply once over something and the mods said they weren't S6 employees, and to open a ticket. The mods are volunteers, I would be loathe to add to their workload.
Where is the camera sensitivity? I'm in graphics settings and can't find it. I'm on PC.
Should be under control settings.
Can't check in-game right now unfortunately, so I'm only 95% sure on that though.
Thanks for coming back to me. Appreciate any help on this. Fast swinging on camera rotation is about the worst there is for me for sickness.
You're welcome, I hope you'll be able to find something that helps. I know there's not much, in terms of settings...
Yes, I was very surprised at the distinct lack of options in game for what I think are simple settings - camera rotation speed being one of them.
esc menu -> settings -> control settings (indicated by mouse) has the camera sensitivity and aim sensitivity settings for keyboard and mouse
forgot to reply sorry ^
hopefully that helps you! i've been dealing with something like motion sickness when playing recently too thus i knew where to look haha (unfortunately didn't help me though)
Heya! I looked back through the convo, sorry for delayed response to this.
I'm going to go ahead and forward your message/video to Lacie so she can take a look at it, so you don't have to put in a ModMail for this situation. I'd still report it through in-game support, like Ciri and ValkOrii mentioned. Just wanted to let you know I saw it and passed it along.
My camera sensitivity is 0.4, I'll put it down to 0.1. Thanks for pointing it out. Yes that worked, 0.1 is a bit too slow, I'll try and find a better value between 0.2 and 0.3
Thanks for coming back to me so fast, I wasn't expecting such a quick response!
Glad to hear it worked, good luck fine-tuning it!
Anyone else wish there was an option to buy multiple of an item at once? I plan to send feedback to the devs, but just curious if this would benefit others too. I have muscle weakness and carpal tunnel issues, so not having to click repeatedly when I want to buy multiple items would be nice.
So many things, another example is putting fertiliser on your garden. And a lack of an "open all" function - those ranching biscuit bags. I made the mistake of having a pile of each of them, as I don't use the biscuits. Then I discovered the bags take up storage space even though the biscuits don't. I got too nervous to delete them, so opened them up and put the biscuits into storage. I had more than 50 of some of them.
On a different note, does anyone else wish the circle thing on the stove when you have to toss the pan, and get the moving circle into the circle circle a pain? I wish the circle circle (the target area) was larger. I play "guess my ping".
Which means it's a reaction time test.
Was controller support removed? I've been on hiatus for awhile and recently got back, but I remember being able to use my 8bitdo controller. It helped a lot with wrist pain and mobility issues. I tried it recently and it didn't seem to work.
i use an 8bitdo controller and am still able to use
Hm, I'll try and fidle with it more, but as of right now the controller has been unresponsive.
Thank you! I hadn't put a modmail message because I got busy and forgot ^^' but I have sent a ticket! 🙂
The new potion you can get from the town hall with Kilima coins, that increases your chance of catching maws. I didn't realise, it lasts three hours and will continue to count down as you play. You may not wish to spend 20 coins on it.
Seizure triggered by Wish reward at Maji Market
@ruby bluff The blue flicker after the wish is granted gives me an absence seizure and nausea. I thought that flickering was a glitch but it happens every time.
From a game play perspective we don't need the deposit/retrieval clip every single time in any case
In case it's helpful for folks who don't know, there is an option to end the cutscenes for both deposit and retrieval -- on PC, I've noticed that I need to make a mouse click (or some other button click) to allow the option to come up in the right hand corner that notifies me the DEL key can be used to end the cut scene. I have noticed I generally have to click in the cutscene to have the DEL option work. In my experiences with ending the cut scenes, the above described flickering/flashing does not occur when you end the cut scene early.
Adding: and apologies, I don't know what key/button/paddle consoles would need to click to end the cutscenes early, but maybe someone can add that here?
On PlayStation, you press the options button to skip the cutscene (small button on the right side with 3 horizontal lines above it for reference). I haven’t tried it on Xbox, but seems to be the same layout as PlayStation so I think it’d be the same button.
@uneven pilot thank you so much! I'll use that in the future. I still don't understand why they thought intentional flickering was a good idea, but being able to cut the scene is a huge game changer!
I could be wrong, but I don’t think the flickering was intentional, seems to be a visual glitch. I am glad that there is a way to skip the cut scenes though until it can be fixed
i'm so sorry it gave you a seizure that's so bad :(
! i have to skip them all now too because i saw it once and immediately knew it'd mess me up :( but obviously the seizure is much worse than my migraine sucking for a while!
Hope you’re feeling a little better and got some rest 🩵
I also wish the stirring had more contrasting colors or a different ending animation, I have some trouble differentiating between pastel blue and yellow and never see when it's done
On the Switch, I just learned that one only needs to hit the A button once to start the stirring. It then ends on its own. Holding down the A button was not needed.
same thing happens for pc and with left click, same concept of just clicking lmb once and the game stirs for you
Yes but it doesn't stop on it's own, if you keep clicking it just goes on stirring
Also if you stop when it's not done it just pauses
Just click once. If you hold the button/key down, then you may have to finish that way.
It doesn't fill if i click once
its possible, you might have clicked on it too long that the game registered it as you holding down on it to stir it
Yes, I have to keep the key depressed (PC) in order for it to finish stirring.
This seems arbitrarily difficult for press versus long press
I wish I had known about this ages ago, it worked for me just now, the quick press
If it makes you feel better, I would actually do the spinning motion with my mouse until I was told I only needed to tap the mouse button
. Glad to know it's worked though!
omg i'm guilty of this too HAHA
imagine if you had to turn your thumbstick to simulate stirring lmao, now that would be a nightmare esp for cooking parties
My trials with pan tossing. It wasn't clear what to do, in my defence. But it's still an annoying reaction time game.
@zealous radish Thank you, I am doing better. Now that I know how to skip cut scenes I'm hoping for a better time gaming.
Now, if only the outdoor lighting didn't wash out all the color on the Hot Pot cards...
if it helps, the different colours/categories also have different symbols in the corner
And if the sky didn't wash out the bloom red, that a couple of us think might be do to the re-use of mist from the grove in Bahari - which occurs at night so is against a dark background.
Hi i haven't used this discord much so sorry if this has already been discussed, but I'd love the option to mute fireworks. I really dislike fireworks and my body has a physical reaction to them and i think being able to mute them would be helpful for folks with PTSD
This has indeed been a popular topic in this channel. I agree wholeheartedly! However I would invite you to submit formal feedback since they don't look at this channel:

I have a question. How do go about reporting that I deleted Sacred Flower by mistake when first started elderwoods a can't get it back & tamala shop is limited locked with no other away to get it back just need 1 for last Umbraan Shrines.
here's the wiki to help with gathering the above information for your ticket: https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Sacred_Flower#How_to_Obtain

I wouldn't be surprised if this was already mentionned, as it fall under "Sound descriptions (can refer to FFXIV's HoH systems for this, which include visual alerts for audio cues)" listed in the doc, but specifically :
- Fishing, without sound, is extremely difficult to time the retrieving/hooking of the fish (the sound make it really obvious, but there is no real visual cue as to when to begin to reel (controller might vibrate at the time, but with the mouse, there is nothing)
thank you!!
I think the area around the bobber starts to swirl rapidly when it hooks? I do rely on sound cues for basically everything in game though
and the fish kinda pop its head out of the water a little, still highly imprecise and missable, unfortunately, without the sound cue =/
In the end, I can't speak for people who does not have choice about sound, as I rely on sound cue too, but I noticed that earlier this afternoon and though I should warn
I also rely on the sound cue for fishing. Another accessibility problem. This seems to be a problem in at least one other game. One way around it would be to have the catch area appear as soon as it is hooked, so there is a sound plus visual cue.
With the controller rumble, it's feasible for me (playing without sounds), I think there's a visible behaviour change too. The visual part is subtle for sure though, not what I'd call an accessible version.
Is anyone else having problems trying to find bees on their ranch? I have to run around the pens to find me.
i mean, i do feel that sometimes, especially with like the rolis and ferrets really, they could be the most brightly colored, contrasting patterned ones and i still would be here double checking if i had like fed + petted them or something
sure you could like seperate them by pens, but considering how many species of animals there are + the 30 global animal limit, i guess you could sort them by like size or whatever
The lack of contrast in hot pot continues, and this wasn't even the worst of it.
One round I accidentally threw out a card thinking it was yellow, but it was orange
I favorited mine so I don't have to hunt
The home plot lag hit me as I was chopping, the chopping is bad enough already
I do this too. Favorite them all from the animal list. You can then turn them off one by one as you find them.
Camera rotation while lure in water, you can bring the lure to the edge of the view so its biggest. When the head pops and the boys swirls, the trigger point is about 0.5 seconds from that. I play with 0 volume, and I turn the rumble on my controller off because the vibrations cause me hand pain and numbness.
How to disable cutscenes on PlayStation! First, tap the Triangle button, then press the R Options button. Scene Skipped.
I'm visually impaired (and have put in a support ticket for this issue), but I have a REALLY hard time seeing in the Elderwood, especially at night in the Deep Woods. I play both PS5 and PC and it's impossible on both. I've had to just stop and wait for it to go day again to have a chance of getting out (or use the map button to go to my home plot).
It would be great if we could save different gamma settings for different times of day, so the nights could still be light enough without the days being washed out.
Im not sure if you tried this, or if its even possible for you, but i play on xbox and i can turn up the brightness of my tv up all the way. Its the only way i can see EW when its night time in game
i do have to turn it back down when i leave EW or when it turns day, or else i get slapped in the face with brightness😅
I bought a wol and a bee for pets but I can’t use either one because their movements flare my motion sickness. I wonder if I could get my coins back? I just feel weird asking because there is 2.
You can submit a refund request for both items and Player Support can discuss your options with you.

It is getting ridiculous that another keyboard layout is still not supported in game…
hi! the visuals of the footprints in "not so good boy" are really hard to see, especially if you have some visual impairments
Can't read, pliease fix
Can't fix it, but in case it helps - try fishing in another spot or further away from the shore.
Also, that must be the smallest text I've ever seen in the game, we really need some way to increase the text size.
putting it in more than one line can help as well
True.
If you have other issues in the future go into the premium store and exit out. That sometimes help
Does anyone wish for an auto run feature? Like something we can toggle on and off! my arthritis is in a flare up currently, and holding the key down to sprint is painful, but walking is so slow for me, lol.
You can set the sprinting button to toggle between running and sprinting in the settings if that helps, and there is an autorun too, where it runs into one direction until you give further movement input, on Switch it's pressing the right stick, don't know on other platforms unfortunately.
oh i wasn't aware of this! I've only been playing since november so i'm still newish when it comes to those things. Thank you, i'll look in to it! I play on PC but i'm sure it exists somewhere
It does exist on PC, you can toggle your sprint to only need 1 button click rather than holding down the button. There is also auto-walk on PC as well, but I can't recall the key for that.
If you check the settings, and then go to the keybinding page, you'll be able to double check your keybinds for sprinting and auto-walk
oh, got it! Thank you!
On pc auto run is / and sprint toggle is shift
I have changed it so autorun is R and my sprint is left-shift, being right-handed on a pc
my tool selection radial menu is now q
I was hoping someone could help me with discord accessibility. I recently added the trading text channel under Bahari Bay Stables, but it says I don't have permission to send messages. Does anyone know if there are special rules to follow to get access?

Anyone else having to log in again and being unable to?

Unfortunately there is no text nor UI scaling
that and make it to where you can disable flashes from fireworks (especially when doing hot pot)....it hurts my eyes so much @3@;
The fireworks are LOUD, wow! Someone accidentally fired one in town and I had to pause the game to apologize to my landlady for the noise 🤣🤣🤣
Scared me bad enough to use the bathroom after 🤣🤣🤣
Thank goodness this ain't Minecraft with people firing em off Willy nilly!
Dear Singularly 6 Team,
I’m reaching out to share an important accessibility concern regarding the fireworks and flashing visual effects currently present in the game.
For players with epilepsy or other light-sensitive conditions, these effects can pose a genuine health risk and may potentially trigger seizures. Because of this, accessibility features that allow players to reduce or disable high-intensity visual effects are essential for ensuring a safe experience.
Many games now include reduced-flash or seizure-safe modes as part of their accessibility settings. Adding a simple toggle to disable fireworks and flashing visuals would make a meaningful difference and help ensure that all players feel safe and welcome in your community.
I truly enjoy the game and want it to be accessible to as many people as possible. I hope you will consider prioritizing this update so that players with medical conditions can participate safely.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

I have a question maybe someone can help me with about a cosmetic item? I tried posting my question to reddit but it got filtered for "prohibited content" by an automod. I can only think the reason why is bc I said "am I being dense?" if this is not the appropriate channel to ask, please navigate me there. TIA
I guess it depends on what you need help with regarding the cosmetic item? Is it anything related to accessibility?

This channel is for discussions, tips, and requests regarding accessibility for players with physical, neurological, or other disability or access needs. Click here to learn more!
Appreciate it! I didn't know where to ask :/
I think the ongoing confusion is over the word "accessibility" which, in the context of a game, seems to be more closely associated with account issues, purchases, etc. I suggest changing the name of the channel to something less confusing. I was trying to think of a name, got as far as thinking health could be in the name, and then gave up.
There was a prior discussion on changing the channel's name back when it was reformed, but that also brings some issues. Honestly it happens in most channels, and there was also the issue of people being redirected to other channels when their questions were related to accessibility.
People whose native language isn't English might also be confused by the name, since it can have different names. It's kinda hard to change the channel's name, and I think even if it did, it probably wouldn't change much or would create more confusion.
Accessibility is one of those words with so many meanings that are extremely unrelated to each other. Shrug
Think the best approach is how it's been handled lately, ask the person if it's related to accessibility reasons, and if not, to redirect. And yeah, it's a very general name, but I still don't think it'd change much considering channels like off topic have similar confusion.
Is there a way to make your inventory items and storage items bigger on PC?
Pain
Can’t u buy at zekis?
this is more about changing the ui size, not actually about making your storage have more space
I’m to new to understand haha
What
Dear Singularity 6 Team,
I am writing to ask you to urgently consider adding a dedicated Photosensitive / Epilepsy Accessibility Mode to Palia.
For players with epilepsy and other light-sensitive medical conditions, the fireworks, flashing effects, bright particle bursts, and rapid light transitions are not just uncomfortable — they can be medically dangerous. These effects can trigger seizures and make it unsafe for us to participate fully in events and celebrations.
Palia is described as a welcoming, cozy, and inclusive game. However, without proper accessibility options for photosensitive players, it does not feel truly inclusive to those of us with neurological conditions.
I respectfully ask that you consider adding:
• A Photosensitive Mode that reduces or removes flashing lights, rapid brightness changes, and intense particle effects
• A No-Fireworks Toggle that disables fireworks visuals entirely
• A “No Fireworks” stamp card option so players with epilepsy can still complete event progress safely
• Reduced light effects during hunting, bug catching, and festival activities
Many of us love the game and want to safely participate in parties, events, and community celebrations without risking our health. Accessibility features like these would make a life-changing difference for players with epilepsy.
Please consider making Palia truly welcoming for everyone, including those with medical conditions.
Thank you for your time and for listening to your community.
!feedback would be the best place to let the devs know, as they read in here only sporadically. I realise you might've sent it there already, and posting it here too for discussion is certainly fine, just wanted to mention it in case you weren't aware.
It's something that is frequently requested on here, and it's certainly something I'd love to see in the game! There have been one or two mentions of a vfx toggle by the devs, but nothing actually visible in-game, and also nothing about a timeframe or so for it to come.

Alright :-) Just wanted to make sure the message doesn't get missed by the devs.
I appreciate that
Quick question.. I have Bellflower Large Drapes on both sides of every doorway besides 2. They’re only placing on one, any advice?
Mmm, might get some advice on #🏡│decor
(This thread is for accessibility like motion sickness, etc).
@west escarp I've sent feedback to S6 on this as well, strobing light is one of my seizure triggers so anything more than one flash has the potential for setting me off. I did learn how to skip scenes on PlayStation; the Triangle then the R Options button. That at least helps at the LNY Market when sending and redeeming wishes.
Hiiii I have not met another player with epilepsy you are the first I am soooo happy to meet someone else and thank you for doing that
Great to meet you!
I’m also epileptic
Also epileptic too. Lights aren't a trigger for me but I do like to be careful around lights anyway. You never really know with epilepsy
Same . Im also new to epilepsy, I was diagnosed last year in December so me and my mom are very new to this
I don’t realize the wish scene so simple would do that! That’s real hard, sorry to hear that.
Does the stagnant flares to mark spots triggery also?
Hey did they respond to you? Or something ?
Afaik, the feedback site is simply a form you send feedback to, you don't get an actual reply.
I see but I always see them (s6) in other chats like “decor” and they answer stuff. So I was wondering if they also did here <3
No, they don't.
Or, I haven't specifically seen them here.
Sad :( but they replied to random stuff in the other channels .-. Hmmm maybe they just didn’t see 🩷
Hm...I'm just gonna.
May lettuce rain down on the world of Palia.
Ok this is a PSA: the underground firework situation is not resolved. Spoilered image for bright colours
Courtesy of @unique ledge
They come in every so often but they can't feasibly reply to everything and they don't get to see everything unfortunately. This channel also turned from a feedback one into a discussion, and there's no direct reply to feedback forms either.
@jade lagoon Nope. Canned Thank you for your feedback popup when sent. That's it.
I think, too, that the game is so severely PC focussed that the devs forget that players on other systems may not have the graphics editing options that PC users do. I can skip cutscenes but those fireworks going off with all that strobing is definitely a trigger. A flare signalling something isn't a problem; no strobing by the flare.
I'm not sure why they can't at least give consoles the ability to turn down the effects setting like on PC. Just make the default console settings the max they can be and allow things to be turned down as necessary. Still not a good fix, because most of the VFX can't be turned all the way off even on the lowest graphics settings, but better than being stuck blinded by fireworks.
@unique jasper yeah, I keep reading about all the graphics adjustments that PC users have and get so frustrated. Ah well.
Not that this is an Emergency and it shouldn't take priority over like the Fireworks or other effects but it would be really nice if we could have the option turn off the buzzing effect for the Bees and The Ferris when it comes to ranching that would be nice. I have a sensory issue when it comes to that sound and Buzzing freaks me out no matter what. I have a Massive phobia is any buzzing Insect and a horrible phobia of Bees due to a traumatic experience with them.
Forewarning: as per usual, there are a lot of flash transitions in that patch trailer video. Edit: ok, maybe not a ton. But that first one was blinding.
And the start of the video can trigger motion sickness... :/ It did for me at least
A goal for personal use would be great. Like how we get quests, we can have a “sticky memo” for folks who are short spanned.
“Get your wood for estate!”
“Oohh an azure cricket- aw crap it gave 1 silk. Maybe one is nearby.”
“Theres no silk but hey a flow tree!!”
*20 minutes later, chopped down. x3 normal hardwood.
“Wait I should been making wood planks! Crap!”
Oh a squirrel! 🤣

Zeki thanks you for your patronage
i need this soooo bad! especially with gardening!! i get lost and distracted so easily then i just end up running in circles all night and barely completing any tasks! especially giving daily gifts to villagers
Can someone help me navigate how to turn off the motion sickness on the graphics? It keeps telling me I can but I'm not sure how. I'm on xbox.
I'm not sure what the exact settings on xbox are, but there should be a setting to turn camera shake off under 'gameplay'. There's also an option to turn on a persistent center reticle that could help with motion sickness. I also recommend turning FOV (under advanced graphics settings) down to whatever amount feels comfortable to you
This was very helpful, thanks. I'll try that tomorrow as it's getting late
Hope it helps! Otherwise asking in #🎲│console-zone might help too as they know a bit more about console settings
The irony of the Discord rules update banning flashing images whilst the game itself is still hugely problematic is not lost on me.
.... I would love to hear from S6 regarding the outcome of the Accessibility Audit? Has it happened? No news since it was mentioned a while ago.
I would also be extraordinarily appreciative of any progress check, update, or any form of communication at all regarding the accessibility audit as it was mentioned nearly a year ago and they have been silent since.
If anyone else agrees, please send feedback if you haven't already, so maybe they will consider this request seriously. I've seen a mod in here say something like "accessibility features aren't in high demand" (not exact words) so I suspect part of the reason they aren't prioritizing it is that it's not seen as "in demand."
I hope this message does not come across as overly negative or disrespectful towards anyone. I'd just really appreciate an update regarding the audit.
Just to clarify a couple things here. The moderation team manages the Discord and enforces the community rules, but we don’t have influence over development decisions or game features. We’re not able to provide updates on things like accessibility audits or development priorities, but we try to make adjustments in the Discord because that's where our scope is.
Speculation about what moderators or the dev team have or haven’t said can sometimes lead to confusion, so please keep that in mind when discussing these topics. That said, accessibility feedback is absolutely valid and important. If you have suggestions or concerns we encourage you to continue sharing them through the official feedback channels (here and player support) so the team can see them.
I think it's worth adding that stopping flashing lights on discord is easier and faster then in game. I have a sensitivity to slow flashing lights not fast ones so because the devs have to keep in mind multiple things at once it takes a longer time to make sure everything is covered.
Would it be speculation to link to a mod having said "accessibility needs are not highly requested" in order to give context to Mercurie's post? I'm not sure what constitutes as constructive now
Just giving my two cents in, but I don't think Mercurie or Daxen were asking mods to give updates on accessibility features in the game (or rather updates in the game) but moreso comparing how while the server does seem to be putting efforts in these areas, it does contrast against the current state of the game in regards to it. I interpreted it as the recurring plight many of us have had on receiving updates from Singularity 6 on the state of the audit or on what is currently being worked on in regards to making the game more accessibility friendly.
In regards to the "speculation", I do think it is important to address or rather confirm what is being said. I mean this as constructive criticism, so I hope it isn't taken negatively or as an attack, but considering the nature of this topic, it's only fair it is looked into.
EXACTLY my lovely.
The comment being discussed was a part of a lengthy discussion between users and was made by a user who was a “regular” community member at the time (who happens to be a mod now later on) who simply noted a difference in highly requested features versus frequency of requests for features. Context is indeed important!
With that clarity added, we ask that this channel otherwise remain on topic as the conversation centering on speculation detracts from the purpose of this space. If further clarity or discussion are needed on this specific topic. modmail is always open.
Can we get the ability to craft and build with our party in one plot please!
!feedback Feedback to the devs should be made via the feedback form.

I severely doubt accessibility features would be left out of patch notes. Doing that as a "surprise" wouldn't exactly be a great look. But who knows, I could be proven wrong
Leaving them out of the game completely is also not a great look, but here we are...

Game is still updating and just reached 38%. nvm, lost connection again and have to restart. Anyways... discovered I think a glitch with the flares while flaring elderflowers yesterday. I say glitch because instead of shooting upwards they shoot down the tree trunk. With this glitch it creates this bright flashing pocket of light and color where you aimed the flare originally. It messed with my photosensitivity and my eyes hurt pretty bad afterwards. I honestly fear what this glitch might do to people who are more sensitive to these things than I am or what it might do to people who experiance seizures.
(I honestly hope it's a glitch) I plan on reporting it, but just warning people.
Kind of afraid to flare things now.
i didn't check before doing the new quest and my settings are on epic, but the lighting in the elderwood seems better - more even, dark areas are brighter, there aren't super shadowy places, and there aren't really huge shifts in lighting
Elderwood was terrible for me on max settings. Every bit of ground glitches, black flashes in the sky, square bits above the trees till come closer and the list is longer :x
Only issue I've had is the || 'fog' in Elderwood after you go through the Zendruu Tree||. It's very blinding especially coming from the dark central stables.
yeah it's bright and washed out at the same time
So am I allowed to speak in here then about how S6 needs to add trigger warnings asap?
@vocal hazel I sent ya a dm ❤️
This channel is for accessibility issues such as discussing access needs for people with disabilities. You might have better luck in #💻│tech-help
Ah sorry! I'll move it. Thx
The patch release notes have videos/gifs in them that cannot be paused or stopped, and the constant motion while reading is really difficult and causes accessibility issues for those with motion and light sensitivity and epilepsy. Please consider this when moving forward with future releases.
trying to remember - i think we've had one with gifs that didn't autoplay(or respected browser autoplay settings) and 1? or 2? with only images
This one was really bad
I'm with you. I'm currently stalled on the main plot line because I'm thankfully spoiled enough to know something happens to my character that's a genuine ptsd trigger for me. I'm currently waiting to see if spoilers for yesterday's update mean I can quickly get past it or not.
!feedback
would probably be a good idea to specify what kind of trigger warnings you're looking for
there's so many things that could be considered a "trigger" there is honestly a chance they may genuinely not know what might be triggering for you.

Hi! Thanks for your response. I also suffer from PTSD and since there was no trigger warning, I went into it blind and it sucked pretty bad. I’m not sure how far you have gotten but there is child loss, and self harm. If you decide to progress the story I’m here after if you need anyone to talk to
Unfortunately I was asked to stop speaking on it which isn’t fair.
not really sure how that conversation went down so i cant really speak on that
im sorry to hear you felt unheard
It’s not your fault friend. I’m just a huge advocate for mental health. I suffer from PTSD and I went into the quest blind, but so excited for the new update. I play palia to escape not to give myself flashbacks. I of course still play games that have these themes. But I go into it prepared. This quest was extremely heavy. I watched a fellow sufferer cry yesterday on their stream and it was heartbreaking. Thankfully they were warned beforehand because of their chat, NOT from S6. I also know they are a palia partner and will be sending in something to them, so here’s hoping they add something.
here's to hoping
As someone with Complex PTSD related to ||Childhood abuse|| I went out of my way to give content warning in every Discord I was in that had a Palia board. I was also lucky enough to play the full thing off stream too cause I have several friends who haven't even gotten to the Elderwoods yet but still wanted to film my reaction. I wish there had been a content warning because while I could handle it It still impacted me a bit more then I thought it would. I'm so lucky I work for home now and days Cause If I didn't I would have taken today off from work to process my emotions from what happened. I just think it should be an option for people. I know not everyone is as lucky as I am.
If you want me to elaborate/give clarification I can put it in spoilers but its not exactly something that happens to your character. If im thinking of the right thing its just something you read.
My message wont send because it contains the topics that the server doesn't want me to talk about....but theyre in game.....
I can DM you if you want my breakdown of the quest. Also sorry mods if you see the post warning thing I was just trying to explain the quest 😭
I think the game and the server are run by different groups.
The game by S6, the server by people who are requested to do so by S6
But it is rather ironic :p
Also, I wanted to send it in here so that anyone else who needs the breakdown for mental health accessibility reasons can see it
Any mods able to weigh in on if I can revise my message with other wording to bypass the auto flagging? I dont want to get in trouble lol but I do think this needs to be talked about
!modmail Hey Arwen! This is a good question. If you'd like, send in a modmail and someone from the Moderation team will be able to talk to you directly about this
Hey there!
This looks like something you can reach out to the mods for help! You can contact them via ModMail, a bot that will set up a private conversation with the team.
To use ModMail, DM @haughty walrus (that can also be found at the top of our member list).
- If you are in multiple servers utilizing ModMail, please make sure to select the Palia server when prompted.
- If you have an open DM with ModMail for another server already, send a message as normal and you will be asked to confirm the server you're trying to reach. Select 🔁 to change the server to Palia.
Thanks!

Question - folks who are flicker sensitive, A7 has this island that keeps regenerating the green when you fish. Would that trigger some medical concerns? Or is that not enough to be a concern?
I've been focusing mainly on the bulliten board so as not to blow through the main story quests. I've also been avoiding areas on the Discord that would have major plot discussions to avoid spoilers.
I guess I have mentally prepare myself now because if there's ||self harm and child abuse/loss|| then I am not going to be well afterwards.
Mine is something from before the update. If you have finished the story so far would you mind if I DMed you to ask about the thing that's my concern? I don't want to derail any conversation here. Totally OK if you'd rather not though. 💜
Yeah you can dm! I also have a ticket open with the mods about my post from earlier so if they say its ok, Ill also put the description here later :)
Can I message you about that quest as well? I really don't want spoilers but also would like to go into the quest prepared.
Howdy Palians! If you'd like to discuss the recent Elderwood new story quest and its content, check out the forward above ☝️ and head over to the #💬│elderwood channel
is there a way to cut back on thge flashieness of the lures and other things in the games if not can we Get one for that
to help with those that have lite senceativie
there isn't but we've been asking
yea i can't wait
The community has been asking for improved accessibility features for multiple years now. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any current actions being taken to improve the game in this area (we haven't received meaningful communication or updates about it in almost a year). Ultimately the game is unsafe for individuals with certain disabilities in its current state.
i just have issues with flashie light it cause my body to freezes up
Is there anyway to adjust the graphics on the switch?
Anyone else struggle with telling iron nodes apart from regular rock nodes?
Iron nodes have black bits instead of coppers orange
I know. It's hard for me to see. It's lime the darker gray for the iron does not contrast enough against the gray of the rest of the node and in certain lighting rock nodes and iron nodes look the same to me.
*like
Maybe try changing the contrast?
No, the Switch settings are very limited.
Is that an option?
If your on PC probably
Ya I figured but wanted to ask anyways.
ever since the nodes became extra shiny they're harder to tell apart unless you're right next to them
Hey sorry for the late reply but yes you can message me. I wanted to wait to see what the mods decision was. It seems like the convos in the elder woods chat are very spoiler heavy so I can just message you with a non spoiler version of whatever kind of content warnings youre looking for ❤️
I have problems with silver and platinum from regular lumpy stone/whitestone. As you say, the contrast isn't enough. I feel bad when I've cracked into one of those by accident before I can alert people to them
at least, the node sticks around for other people for 3 mins from the first time it was broken up
Whew! Good to know. I feel a little better then
Nodes that contain metal make a ringing sound when hit. They also have more hit points than plain stone/whitestone nodes.
Yeah, it's when I would hear the metal sound I'd realize it was different
The despawn timer doesn’t start until the node is broken, not just hit. So unless someone else broke that node before you hit it, you’ll have time to call it out.
I see, good to know!
Even up close they look the same to me. I've mined a regular rock thinking it was iron.
Anyways, there's no contrast settings and doesn't look like there is a setting to turn off the "shinieness" of nodes either.
Are they all supposed to be shiny? Sometimes theyre shiny after I've hit them but sometimes theyre just always shiny. To me it looks like a highlight kinda
I wouldn't know. I got back last month from about a year long hiatus and certain things seemed different.stares at the nodes
Yeah, it looks like the gave the nodes a highlight to match how other things we can collect also sort of have a "glow" or highlight to them.
S6 added the shiny effect like 2 updates ago. I hate it with a passion because i cant distinguish them from afar anymore. Even when up close I have difficulty
I don't know why my other message got flagged okay. Welp...
Would they even listen to a suggestion to remove the highlight or to add a toggle so we could choose if we wanted the highlight or not?
I think they added the glow/highlight when they changed how nodes work and despawn and the highlight pulses with increasing frequency as it gets closer to despawning after someone mines it. Since they added it to add visibility to that timer, I don't think they will remove it without some other method to replace that function.
As much as I love advocating for toggles of settings and I think a toggle would be great, I think it's unlikely to happen. Best we can do is send official feedback through the site and hope something happens. The track record for them to adjust these sort of things is real low tho.
Einar will block messages that have formatting tags, like the pound sign. We can only use the pound sign for linking to channels to avoid a bonk from Einar
Your message content was fine
Wait can someone message me about the triggers in the game (that we can't discuss here but also the ||self harm and abuse/child loss|| I don't mind spoilers but I also halted my gameplay and didn't finish elderwoods yet) I'm becoming very confused on how this is considered a "no stress life sim cozy MMO game" when it's character topics can lean so heavy and there's no warning for it.
I definitely don't have mental space to spare so if I can't move forward with the game's quest lines I'm gonna be disappointed for sure.
Also agree with the nodes issue the contrast isn't good for iron nodes vs stone I have to be right up on them and then sometimes I'm still wrong.
