Infected Essence

Infected Essence can be obtained by hunting, fishing, foraging, and bug catching in Elderwood after completing part 4 of the quest: The Nature of Shadows.

Tips for Collecting Essence

• Upgrade your Relics to Tier IV as soon as possible!
• Party up! When in a party, Relic buffs are shared with other party members even if they do not have that Relic equipped. It is suggested that party members each equip different Relics in order to combine multiple effects.
• Drop a Honey Lure and catch as many infected critters as you can (ideally in a party). A4 on the map grid is reported to be a great spot for lures!

I'm very chill about it haha. The fastest way is to drop some lures and catch infected bugs, but often I'll just party up with whoever is interested and wander around the map, getting whatever infected things we come across as well as any fun resources we find (I'm always in need of more ore, personally).

The relics are super helpful. I see you know about them, but I'm gonna put all the info here anyway in case somebody else reads this later. There are four:

Bag of Illusion: lets you collect infected things without special items
Brighteye Amulet: Boosts amount of essence gathered
Elderwood Idol: Helps track infected things the same way an ore compass or hunting horn works
Guiding Lantern: Helps boost the tier level of the other relics in your party

All of them have improved effects as you level them up.
You can only have one equipped at a time, so partying up is the way to go. Generally I always have the Bag of Illusion on when I'm just wandering on my own, because I'm too lazy to keep making special arrows/bombs/lures/potions. Amulet + Illusion helps with general essence hunting (since you get the boost but also don't need special equipment) or if you're going to be in one spot (Iike using bug lures), but if you're planning to do something specific like fishing, Amulet + Idol might be better for tracking the spots down. And of course, a full party is best!

ETA: Sometimes if I'm in Elderwoods on my own and know I will be for a while, I ask in the chat if anybody wants to party up for relic-sharing even if we don't actually meet up and do things together. The shared effects work as long as you're on the same map, so that can be a low-effort way to slightly boost your essence gains even if you're not Specifically Hunting With People

No, I'm right handed. But when I was only using a laptop+trackpad, I would use my right hand for arrow keys/movement, right thumb on trackpad for camera panning, and then left hand would be tool controls and hotkeys for the toolbar. Makes sense until there's a mouse!

Ah! Hadn't realized it only started earlier this month. When is next patch? Like, do I have the rest of February for Lunar?

hmm. to me that stuff seems easier. The mushrooms are not rare, they are always around, you can keep picking them until you get what you want. But I talked to sb else the other day - I guess it depends on what you like (or don't mind doing) - after trying to find Einars pebble in Oysters, the black pearl seemed easy. Whereas fishing certain fish is harder to me, because I get sooo bored when having to fish for too long and catching 500 of the same fish doesn't get you a result whatsoever. The game has a lot of these snags when you get down into it.

For minimum cost and maximum matching Boovars can be got in both basic cream and basic black, go with everything!

On average I find that what matters most is that the starting ingredients be star quality. If over half the ingrediants are star quality then you can get a star quality dish even if you are in the red other wise you have to end in the green to get star

basically since ive completed my plush collection ive decided to make myself cry by taking on the plushie map hunt. rules are simple, on every map you need all the obtainable plushies available for that map to move on, so i need to catch the yellow and re koi, catfish and minnow plush on hoe plot before i can move to killima, and then the new map is clean slated, id need all 4 fishing plushies again plus every other obtainable plush on that map to move on ect

plushies gathered outside of that area, do not count (this is a self imposed rule, i do help new players, its inevitable i get some plush while helping out)
