⚠️ Warning: If you visit the Space Anomaly, in-group with friends or with Multiplayer enabled, DISABLE PvP in your Network options (make sure it's not set to "Anyone") to reduce potential for griefing in the Anomaly. ❗ When new saves are created, Network settings may default to enable PvP and overwrite your other saves' settings. Therefore, whenever you play, double check that PvP is disabled.
We've received multiple reports about a player glitching their mech into the Anomaly and killing innocent travelers. When you die in the Anomaly, trying to get to your grave to recover your inventory is problematic. And if you're in Permadeath, your save is gone.

Compromised Accounts
Due to a recent spike in compromised accounts, we'd like to remind members to be cautious when receiving messages from Discord friends and server members, as well as unsolicited friend requests from accounts with suspicious profiles. Based on the types of scams we've seen, below are some helpful tips.
Profile Red Flags
- Profiles that show blatant advertising in their About Me, linking to other Discord servers or Twitter profiles about topics like sports betting, BitCoin, porn, drugs, the black market or art commissions.
- Profiles that joined Discord as well as this server within a very short time-frame.
- Profiles impersonating Discord staff.
DM Red Flags
In messages that may come from server members or friends whose accounts were likely compromised:
- Masked links. Example: steamcommunity.com/redeem/gift. If you hover over the link on PC, you can preview the link before clicking, or hold-press the link on mobile for Link Options. Do NOT click on URLs you do not recognize. There are reasons why we block masked links in our server.
- Telling you that your Steam or Discord account has been reported, compromised, or suspended with a suspicious explanation on how to "fix" the issue.
- Showing you a screenshot of a fake Discord message as proof of their scam's lead-up message.
- 🚫 Asking you to reach out to a Discord staff member by sending a friend request to a random username provided (e.g., kevhantech). Discord support does not address account issues via direct messages on Discord, only via https://support.discord.com and your personal email.
- 🚫 Telling you to change your email address that's tied to your account, to an address that is not yours. Discord Support would never do that.
What To Do
When you receive a suspicious message, we recommend the following steps:
- Report to Discord: Right-click or tap & hold message, then select Report
- If the account is in our server, report it to our server staff. Please include username and screenshots in your report. Use #contact-us or run
!Reportin #bot-spam for additional contact info. - Block the user.
- If you fear your account has been compromised, change your password.
- Check your Settings: Account > Devices. Remove any that you do not recognize.
- Make sure you have multi-factor authentication (MFA / 2FA) configured if you haven't already done so. See support.discord.com/Setting-up-Two-Factor-Authentication.
- If your account is already compromised,
submit a request to Discord via https://support.discord.com

Four years ago, we started posting #the-louvre screenshots and art on Twitter, offering an additional platform (frequently used by Sean) to show off all the beautiful captures and creations you share on our Discord.
Sadly, since Twitter changed hands and became "X", the site has become increasingly restrictive with how third parties can use it, leading to an ever-decreasing number of posts we can make per day (unless we were to pay US $200 per month for what used to be the "free" access tier).
The platform has also seen a sharp increase in the number of bots, which we suspect has led to a rise in spammer/scammer traffic here.
And last but not least, X's owner has turned the site into a political tool to serve his own interests. It has become a haven for disinformation and conspiracy theories. Moreover, its algorithm is engineered to provoke outrage and hatred. This is contrary to our values, and we believe continuing to participate on X would be a conscious decision to support that. Therefore, after deliberation by our team, we're choosing to stop posting on X starting <t:1737986400:D>.

To couple with the newly-created #no-mans-art channel, and through a wonderful suggestion from @unkempt spire, we've created the Fan Artist role! Please message a moderator / admin to apply for the role. As of now, the criteria for recieving the role are as follows:
1. Your art must be your own
2. Your art must be NMS related
3. You must produce content at least monthly. Note that it doesn't have to be a finished piece, progress updates, sketches, etc. are wonderful too!

After some discussion, the mod team have come to the consensus that screenshots (despite their artistic nature) are best placed in their home of old, #nms-photomode-gallery
Modded screenshots are also welcome in #nms-photomode-gallery but remember, each submission should be captioned clearly that the pic is modded.
If you're posting any more than 2 screenshots at one time, please create an imgur album to allow people to browse your collections without spamming the channel.
As for #no-mans-art we look forward to seeing your paintings, drawings etc as usual shared there. 🎨

⚠ Server Changes 🌘
In anticipation of NEXT, you may notice some changes to the server organisation/channels in the coming 24-48 hours. We've heard your feedback and suggestions and want to thank you all for taking the time out for this, and having patience while we get a plan together! 
Namely, we'll see our Waking Titan channels archived, (but still readable), an introduction of LFG channels for the different platforms, and a new Guild channel for advertising your community, in affiliation with Atlas Hub. 
The purpose of each channel will be clearly stated in the channel topic, so please do review these when choosing where is best to start a discussion. 👓

A Discord Nitro phishing scam is circulating through Discord. The scam claims to have a referral link to buy Discord Nitro at a reduced price. The link may appear to come from a friend when in reality their account has been compromised. The link is disguised to look like a Discord.gg link when in reality it is actually Discordgg.ga (or some variation).
How do you protect your account? Activate Two-Factor Authentication! This is can be found in Settings under My Account. You will need a smart phone with an Authenticator installed.
As always, be careful when you receive a link from a friend or stranger that sounds too good to be true.

Our first new channel is called #no-mans-steak🥩 - a dedicated space to sharing cooking and baking recipes from salads to cakes and everything in between. The absence of Tony_Towers was recently noticed. As it was uncharacteristic for him to be absent from all communication, a staff member of the No Man’s Sky Discord server took it upon themselves to investigate. On 08/31/19, unfortunately, a news article was found detailing the arrest of a man whose age, location, and name matched that of Tony_Towers. While we could not confirm immediately that this was definitely the same man, we, shortly thereafter, discovered reported evidence that Tony_Towers is the man who was arrested. Regardless of the outcome, we pray that the responsible parties are brought to justice.
Given the charges and the information available, we quickly acted to secure the various communities of No Man’s Sky. Upon discovery, Tony_Towers was stripped of his ranks and removed from all positions of power. He will be reinstated if he is found innocent, completely and totally removed if he is found guilty.
We request that the community keeps gossip and speculation to a minimum. While this is a terrible blow to our community, we want to remind everyone that he is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. You may come to your own conclusions and form your own opinions, but remember that the judicial system, in any country, is not without flaw and he may have been falsely accused.
If anyone has information or needs to have a discussion about this issue with a community leader, do not hesitate to DM a staff member of one of the various communities listed.

Current information from Bruce: I don’t want to alarm anyone, Edith and I are ok, but our apartment caught on fire. The people who live below us caught their apartment on fire and everything is gone. We've tweaked a few things regarding screenshots.
#nms-photomode-gallery now has 30s slowmode enabled to slow down the flow of screenshots and stop your amazing screenshots being lost so quickly.
We see the great screenshots that get shared there and would love the chance for other server members the opportunity to too see them.
#the-louvre is seeing screenshots become archived already but we would like to re-iterate that screenshots of in game menus and ship stats will not become archived no matter the number of ❤️ they receive in #nms-photomode-gallery.

Okay, not quite, but here's a big ol' list of changes.
#612203534506524702 and #nms-game-help have been consolidated into a single channel, #nms-questions , a catch all channel for tech and game related help.
#screenshots and #no-mans-art have been consolidated into a single channel, #nms-photomode-gallery . Art will continue to be pinned in this channel, and screenshots will enter #the-louvre
#345539897697763328 has been removed, as it was pretty much just an occasional list of Gunter streams.
#655024517264965633 has been removed, due to lack of use. If you didn't know what this was, it was a channel for veteran users and nitro boosters. #off-topic-bond-james-bond is now the go-to for everyone.
#other-games and #641368030726586378 have been consolidated into #other-games , which is now a catch all channel for non-NMS related media.
We had complaints from users and moderators alike that we had too many channels, so in a bid to improve User Experience and Quality of Life, these changes have been made.

Thank you for participating in April Fools day with us.
We had members leave the server throughout the day and many stating their confusion at the sudden change to becoming a server for Animal Crossing.
95 members assigned themselves with admin/badmin role and have each been assigned "Fools of 2020 badge" as recognition for participation.
We (Fluffy) created nmscord-pvp that gave all members permissions to delete, pin and unpin messages within the channel. Throughout the day we witnessed chaos, humor and a minor case of pushing rules further than needed to be, but all in all it was a fun time.
At one point nmscord-pvp reached maximum pin limit before a handful of members very patiently took the decision to delete all messages one by one before successfully clearing the entire channel of all messages, in turn "winning" and ending this game.
We thank you all for being part of the fun.

If you have an issue with it, take it up with her. Keep the draconian beliefs about people out of the server as it is a direct violation of the rules. We have a 0 tolerance policy on any form of hatred at all. Including but not limited to homophobia, xenophobia, racism, transphobia...etc. It doesn't matter, its not allowed here. Any username or server nick name or profile picture that hints at anything like it is also grounds for removal and a report will be sent to the discord trust and safety team.

We are implementing a new experimental idea related toward <@&346305199951839232> on the server and making use of what had become a somewhat pointless role. #roles-information and #server-guide will be updated to reflect this change. We are going to support creators sharing what they make about No Man's Sky in a new channel called #content-creator-corner. Some details are as follows:
• This is wholly separate from #no-mans-art "The channel will only allow content creator links that include text or video. Therefore links to unapproved Discord servers are still prohibited. Just links to NMS related blogs, and streaming mediums like YouTube, Twitch, Facebook. "
• No links to websites that are purely focused on trying to sell stuff (which also already applies to the #no-mans-art channel)
• The channel will always be on a 6 hour slow mode. This is to discourage spamming of content to overwhelm others.
• Content must be your original work and not derivative or plagarism. Do not post "your friend's" streams or videos, or those of other creators that you "affiliate" with or simply follow.
• Keep it current; don't dip into your archives and start posting your videos from 2016.
• The role is vetted: you will need to direct message <@&233305774745583618> to verify your content is relevant to NMS and abides by our #server-rules. This includes after you begin sharing your content; if it is found to be in violation your role will be removed and punishment will be dealt accordingly.
We look forward to seeing more of the creativity of the wider community just as we have with #no-mans-art! We appreciate your help keeping this channel focused so we can all share the benefits! 😊

It can come from someone you believe, and has been being spread through actual game developers losing their accounts to it. Anyone's account can be taken by things like this that seem innocent and then spread the scam to others.

10/17 Liminal Event Horizon: A recent obsession of mine. Familiar but unknown; like something out of a dream or vague memory. Not here nor there but in transition.
Liminal Space is defined as:
"A location which is a transition between two other locations, or states of being. Typically these are abandoned, and oftentimes empty - a mall at 4am or a school hallway during summer, for example. This makes it feel frozen and slightly unsettling, but also familiar to our minds."
Can it be done with No Man's Sky? The challenge is on and I gave you plenty of time!

We have good news and sad news - the sad news is that after many tours of duty, Spirit has decided to step down and take a much deserved rest from moderation. We all love you @onyx obsidian , and thank you for all you have done. We have been through a lot of good times and bad times together, and this server will always be a home for you.
On a more upbeat note, we are welcoming @flat crow and @random drift as trial mods. We're grateful for them volunteering their time to help our team continue supporting our fun and wholesome community.

Wow! We have a three way tie in Inner Peace! Congratulations to @olive cloud, @edgy egret and @gaunt lagoon for your wonderful pictures, and Taiga receives the <@&849987987265421342> role. Each one is gorgeous and really does convey a sense of peacefulness. We also have a tie for Honorable mention with @left reef and @smoky hamlet! This is a terrific way to end the competition, with all these beautiful shots and new Rainbow Sky members
