Sulphuric vibes [Adrift Era v1.07]
Different dead planet, more ominous atmosphere
Adrift Era [v1.07]
also something worth noting here is that the surface soil is different from that of the other couple dead planets i recently visited
Much coarser soil, a rockier feel, and tumultuous landscape in general.
Adrift Era [v1.07]
Adrift Era [v1.07]
A different type of soil found here & there on this particular dead planet. Adrift Era [v1.07]
Finally something neither dead nor lush. Adrift Era [v1.07]
Good old inventory ๐
Made in August 13th 2016 (4 days after steam release)
Haven't seen this fauna head in a bit. Adrift Era [v1.07]
hard to get good fauna shots in Adrift Era, but tried to get some more of this fauna. The multicolored look on this one really stood out to me.
Prolly the best looking planet i found in old NSM.
there are eyes in the trees...Adrift Era [v1.07]
Just appreciating the old UI in Atlas Rises [v 1.38 - Nov 25, 2017]
chamber, Adrift Era [v1.07]
Adrift Era [v1.07]
A slight channel, Adrift Era [v1.07]
A clear contrast to the smoother soil from the above planet, Adrift Era [v1.07]
My very first NMS screencap. Fairly certain this was from launch:
Pathfinder [v1.2]
Where can the legacy games be discussed freely (vs. kept to a minimum), with the #nms-legacy channel gone?
I assume that's not now #off-topic-bond-james-bond.
and idc if its in off-topic
Ah, #nms-the-future is a discussion of past and future of the game. Got it.
7 days after release
This planet was on fire almost all the time
Atlas Rises [1.30] - my Bountiful Moon
NEXT [1.50] - The future site of my longest-running base in my main save. 3.0 turned the planet an ugly green though.
You can see where I was seated in the previous picture.. I'm a tiny little dot here.
Praise the sun!
Probably my favorite NMS picture I've ever taken here [1.50]
Haha skipped leg day
Top pic looks very "satisfying"
@prime needle i definitely stood at attention when i saw it
great canyons
i'm still waiting for moon with lakes and oceans
i think this was my first lush planet
Anyone remember pilgrim star (or starfall on ps4)? X:
it almost looks like each side of the canyon are separate biomes
Oh yes i noticed now xD
Is that the one the guy walked around?
Circumnavigated on foot
mannn, so many gorgeous legacy screenshots.
Night Grazing [1.03]
The solitude, it can rend a mind, utterly.
Is that current version?
For Xbox yes.
Ok so, this is #legacy-screenshots for older versions, you want #nms-photomode-gallery for current
Was amazing back then, finding those first few planets, fauna etc...everything truly felt alien
Main thing I noticed the first time I reverted to an old version was the sound design. Ambients, music all that@daring kite
Believe it or not, this is a moon
that's cool terrain
yea
1.0x - 1.2x has some of the craziest terrains, 1.3x have a bit more crazier terrains, but somewhat degraded. NEXT onward the terrain gotten to the low point. Origins does do something, but not as crazy as before 1.3x
when i look at the pic, it seems like partially submerged trees are a thing during 1.0x - 1.2x
Moons used to be able have water???
S q u a d
Not the best looking terrain from a few days after launch ๐
I remember seeing a triangle floating ialand, with steps on it
Didnt take a photo of it
A bit nicer ๐
secret underground drug smuggling tunnel
hehe, its easily made during AR
gta online bunker. awesome!
This is for older versions @violet heath you want #nms-photomode-gallery
legacy shots from the wiki of generated fighters - that long engine profile is freaky
I really like the one 2nd from The left at the bottom
Is that a big flying snake?
they're normally quite high in the sky but with mods they lowered their flight path
itโs disgusting, i love it
@lunar root this channel is for prior to Origins versions - you want #nms-photomode-gallery
what in gods name...
it got w h e e l s
Throwback to when there was no building system and Signal Boosters had to be found at these small habitat buildings (or randomly in the wild)
Those numbers are also the real co-ordinates of the star system in the galaxy too ๐
I was playing on a 1280*1024 monitor so it looks kinda weird
old multitool GUI
underwater
the water looked so much better than it does now ๐ฆ
Yeah, the current water needs some love. I hope they improve it soon
I remember everyone being so blown away by the water in the NEXT trailer and I already thought it looked good in AR
Does anyone have screenshot of a blue soil, green grass planet with the weird pillars of emiril from when deposits spawned in massive terrain manipulayable pillars?
Is that foundations or 1.0?

Images of the supposed non-existent mountain ranges found in version 1.0

this channel makes me cry. why canโt we have this back. awesome screenshots!
I'm sure HG has lots of exciting things planned for the future, don't worry ๐ฅฐ

should be aye
2018-04-12 so yeah atlas rises
gonna be honest folks ships used to look like dogshit
seemed much more cartoon-y back then
yeah, the ships were almost too simplified compared to everything else. thatโs one thing I like about current day ships, the level of detail makes em look real nice
ye much better now
Shuttles looked generally better imo.
The larger shuttle cockpit still looks wonky to me personally.
Also, I forgot about these 'anise pod' looking features.
I found similar features in the current game on a desert planet yesterday, but they weren't as obvious as this.
oh yeah it depended on the ship type
shuttles had more detail
Majestic creature [1.03]
Planets could look pretty rough from orbit sometimes
Green Winter
What in fucks sake, Iโve never seen that before. Thatโs so cool!
An actually interesting and quite pretty to look at frozen world? Awesome
I miss the more varied color palettes for cold planets

@odd yew this channel is for previous versions of NMS, you want #nms-photomode-gallery
OH SORRY
No worries
heehee dumpi
@distant ermine this is for prior versions of NMS, you want #nms-photomode-gallery
It was from an older version.
I took it back in 2020.
My mistake then, saw the nebula and character model
Very first planet but unfortunately didn't get to explore it as i had to quit and didn't save
love the terrain in that top image
Snaking terrain was so eerie and alien. I loved it.
As someone who never played the early versions, I want to see more pictures of water on moons
@smoky nest
I want to float down that river in a canoe.
I still can't believe they got rid of water on moons; like why?
who knows
insanity, the same reason they did a lot of their choicifying
Which version is this? Those look like Prisms stars on the last one
Which version? NEXT or Beyond?
It's from 2020, so Beyond.
Thinking back on it, I think this was the first monolith I ever found.
The last one is definitely post-prism but w/e
The channel is pretty slow so I don't see the harm in a random extra pic here or there
Alright I'ma boutta drop some that may have been seen before, but were lost to the previous legacy channel's removal. Apologies if some look familiar to you ๐
@marsh glade Just a question you've probably answered before - what about modded Legacy?
The armada(most amount of ships i have ever seen in a single spot)
That's fine, I think.
modded legacy is fine yeah
My very first picture taken in NMS, on Synthesis.
@mighty venture please use this channel for Legacy Screenshots only, ask in #no-mans-sky
Ok sorry
the first screenshot i could find on my ps4, taken back on 3/18/2020 also just coming back from a huge break, having plenty of fun so far.
Starting planet
i have a hundred or so pathfinder and atlas rises screenshots on ps4. I wanna get some up on here.
Feel free
Do it. Drop that album like its hot
Shots like these make me miss the aesthetic of NMS when it came out.

Can't believe I've owned this ship for 4 years now! ๐ ๐ ๐
Viridescent Moon
Malfunctioning Moon
What makes the spherified images?
I did these a looong time ago ๐ and I'm not even sure the actual software I used even exists anymore! But if you wanted to give it a go yourself - Just search for something like 'tiny planet generator' - You'll need to take quite a few pics from a fixed point whilst you're in photo mode and the software will then stitch them all together for you! ๐
Could probably use a fisheye filter in a photo editor
You might be right... But I do like the level of detail you can get my taking multiple shots - if you zoom into the top of the malfunctioning moon you can actually see my Explorer parked up!
She's been with me for more than a year now. Couldn't have asked for a finer ship.
That screenshot I posted above -- I can feel that in my gut, somehow.
I miss this style of dead planet... (Atlas Rises)
I appreciate how far the game has come, but I still like the old aesthetic
๐ฏ % - What we've got now is absolutely amazing and I've no doubt that at least some of the appeal of those earlier iterations is inevitably tied up with nostalgia and instant love I had for the ambition of NMS โค๏ธ ๐

bruh why did the old game look such much more peaceful ๐ฅฒ
there was a sort of magic to the simplicity of the game (until the fauna squeals)

@novel marten is that the pre order ship
yes, it is
@rich whale Looks nice! Post some more ๐
@rich whale so these are modern NMS with a mod?
yes
Ok, then they belong in #nms-photomode-gallery
I legit play No Manโs Sky less because I can no longer enjoy sites like these anymore (unless I downpatch), could wander a single planet for hours back then.
You could just play an older version tbh
Really liked this Silhouette on a planet in Path Finder

Yeah, after it turned green i hated it
Pacman Island in 1.57
Waka waka waka
mmm yellow man
This is a beautiful screenshot of a beautiful ship ๐
C-can i find these ships these days? The simplicity, the class!
Also the PINK land!! I need this!
Sadly that ship is a pre order ship that after next is now green but the seed exists
And turning on legacy colours for that ship slot will make it blue again
I saw a diplo that looks like this minus the spines. It was on a [redacted] biome.
This ship design is still in the game. As far as simplicity - this is fairly flat-shaded, and I like it, but the current version of this would have many more minute details, reflections, etc. on it. I will DM you a look at the evolving rendering of a particular ship I put together.
I went back to this planet after some updates and it definitely doesn't look as nice now.
sad times
even tho channel's intended for only legacy shots, it's insightful getting to see the comparison.
Rocky Red and Blue Grass Planet in 1.13 Foundation
Wdym, those are both legacy shots?
assumed them going back after updates in present day meant not legacy:
I went back to this planet after some updates and it definitely doesn't look as nice now.
I think that's an old picture of the planet
No that last pic is Atlas rises
Path Finder Update โบ๏ธ
Ooh nice
... The Anomaly
The real one
love
I know, believe me, all the differences between 1.0 and now....but I think a lot of the feeling I got from earlier versions is mostly the filter and the lighting.
@prime needle Also terrain gen. The old lighting is lost forever now
My first screenshot on launch day on my starter planet
i enjoy those tiny mountains
Atlas Rises - June '18
Last base in Atlas Rises, June 2018. This became the ocean floor when NEXT landed.
Any chance that base can be visited in a reverted game or was the save file updated and base thereafter put to rest?
Would be neat if it were still reachable
Well, when NEXT landed, that spot ended up on the bottom of the ocean. It looks like my save files don't have it; I have an Atlas Rises save before the base was built, then the next one I kept is the first save after NEXT landed, perhaps oddly. I cleared out a few, should have kept one just before NEXT. NEXT, as you will recall, stored all pre-existing bases and allowed for them to be placed anew with a base computer, once. Over a year after, I went ahead and did that for nostalgia. I've since killed that base, though.
Is it still possible to play legacy versions to get these pics?
I would check the pins in #nms-modding and maybe ask @mossy vortex if the linked steam files still work.
I'd say yes, but my copy of 1.2 decided to stop working entirely a few days ago ๐ข
oh no ๐ฆ
@ripe beacon@frosty socket At the very least, I haven't changed the File availability on the Google Drive.
Anyone else still flying a 48-slot ship that predates Tech Class?
Sometimes I miss the old NMS aesthetic.
Was it graphical glitches?
Any save (even a new game) loads in to a white screen with the planet name on it and never resolves.
The initial loading screen (flying through galaxy map) is also completely black except for the random named systems that fly by as white dots.
Tried that too, couldnt get it to work still
I reverted to a couple different ones with no luck
I tried one that worked back when I last played (496.13)
And I also tried 479.something, both custom installs to remove the current driver.
Me too.
@mighty venture I have the same issue, could you please post the driver version here when you check the version?
was your base still there after NEXT?
Lush planet from Pathfinder
No, all pre-existing bases were packed up into an archive that you could choose, in NEXT, to have re-deployed on a world of your choice. (Players could only have one base at a time pre-NEXT.)
ah shame that could've been cool to visit your flooded base
I regret putting my tropical resort base on a desert world by accident lol
Whatโs a shame is that I canโt delete anything and that I canโt just move it again lol, half of the assets there yo can get anymore too
Modded

v1.03
noo i lost my legacy pics
That's sad
I wish I could go back in time and play any older version, not just v1.00
theres a way to play any version you want but its an ordeal i think
Oh sweet do you know how?
idk if it still works but here is a link. I've never done it myself. https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/hfqvds/updated_guide_to_playing_legacy_versions_of_no/
Looks like it doesnโt ):
Some dude managed to get v1.09 running on PS4 somehow tho, but itโs full of technical jarble.
The post is
https://nomansskyretro.com/ maybe this will work?
This is really cool! Unfortunately, I donโt have a good gaming PC, only a PS4
oh i see
I could try to see if my current PC could run it, though I doubt it
whats Pathfinder???
Woah
Its the Second titled update to NMS from 2017
Is that a legacy screenshot? You may wanna post that in #nms-photomode-gallery instead
A few more v1.13 shots before I upgrade to Atlas Rises
(This moon had freezing rain by the way, never knew that existed)
Hereโs some more
@dreamy tide@solar plover Very nice legacy shots ๐
Upgrade successful! Missing a bit of the beauty of Foundation but itโs made up for by a true photo mode
In your opinion, what specific things are better in Foundations?
I lost the yellowed graphics of old NMS ๐ฅฒ
Just the terrain/visuals, really. Iโd say just about everything is better in Atlas Rises. Controls feel good, exploration is more fun (because exocraft, ship summoning, etc.), and the terrain/visuals are still better than they are now. I really like Atlas Rises, and I feel Hello Games could learn a bit from this version.
Iโm excited to try out Pathfinder soon. I hope itโs the best of both worlds (beautiful terrain+ exploration convenience)
Iโve had Toxic rain pre-NEXT on lush worlds, shame they got rid of that stuff
(Oop sorry for ping)
Atlas rises had loads of qol stuff that youd miss from pathfinder, but then pathfinder had better world gen and all that ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Can you summon your ship in pathfinder?
Only at landing pads
Ah too bad
Pathfinder time! Iโm using the vintage filter to emulate the vibe of versions before. Again, dedicated photo mode, but you have the best generation in the game to go with it! Lots of dead planets thoughโฆ. Also this goes for any legacy version (except Atlas Rises), but itโs impossible to tell what biome planets are from the exterior alone. Weird.
v1.23 (Pathfinder)
God I remember the day of plutonium
Be careful with dead planets in pathfinder, you can literally get stranded on them and ruin your save lol
Part of me wants to disconnect my internet and load up good ol 1.0 NMS and be amazed again at how far the game has come
Make sure you back up your save first lol
Launch-day NMS (1.03)
Stunning, especially that last one
i like the support under the snake terrain
Can't believe I miss the old snake terrain. Used to be like "oh boy there's another one of those planets", but it's just not as cool now when the noodles never leave the ground.
mhm it was everywhere but it was still neat. There needs to be a balance. Hoping they come back, but they donโt take over every planet.
Sweet
how do you all post so m any legacy photos while being in modern update?
Perhaps by playing the older versions?
but how, les take it to #no-mans-sky or help
By upgrading (or downgrading or whatever you want to call it as pre next is an improvement imho) to the older version?
and how does one uninstall the newer updates
Its more of an reinstall the older version
Mainly from when we played it back then we kept the old installation files
ohh ok, thanks found a few vids thanks
๐
I love abusing the fact that Atlas Rises lets you hover on a planetโs surface to just stare at this in real time.
whats atlas rises?
An update
@keen nexus you want #nms-photomode-gallery, this channel is for previous versions of NMS
oh shet i didn't see the "legacy" word in this channel
No worries
i was like "why this channel seems quite?" lol
Atlas Rises has some nice fog effects. Too bad they seem to have gotten worse over the years.
@dreamy tide little fry Bossk workin the counter tryin 2 impress ol' Cradossk lol.
I hated that sort of asymmetric ship tbh. Made no sense
I swear its a glitch as well, especially on a fighter
I'd actually love one of those asym fighters, glitch or no, just for the rarity lol.
I love how all these old legacy shots have this odd filter on them that actually makes them look old and washed out, especially the landscape ones
I was playing Pathfinder, which actually removed the filter, but you can play the game in any filter via the settings, and it feels wrong to me to play any pre-Atlas Rises version without the filter lol
The filter resets after every warp too, so you gotta go to settings and change it back lol
Which filter is it?
What is now called the โvintageโ filter. By default, it is off in Pathfinder, but you can re-enable it in the settings. It is the only option in pre-pathfinder versions.
๐
Reminds me a lot with early days of Instagram
What makes a screenshot legacy?
Anything previous to Origins
Level 2
Who knew Iโd find my first Lesser Mushroom Beetle in Foundation?
Thats a Mushroom Lesser Beetle
Remember when ai ships could actually fly lol
No. I can't remember them ever flying right XD
You have removed your deep-fry and Iโm not sure how I feel about it
Bahahahaha just realised what your referring to
Is that with a screenshot filter or is it possible to make that your character?
Iโm sure itโs possible to make Bossk in the modern game. These shots are from Pathfinder, which is the first version of the game to remove the yellow filter, but you can put it back through an option that lets you overlay any of the gameโs filters as you play (a feature that isnโt in the game anymore). I just applied it to photo mode and captured it real quick.
Sick
Some 1.09 shots
that last one brings a whole new meaning to "the maw of the cave"
gorgeous
That mountainous generation with the pyramid like formations look fun as hell to explore
is this a pre-Origins screenshot (before 3.0)?
No
got ya. only pre-Origins screenshots belong in this channel. feel free to repost it in #nms-photomode-gallery
ok
This is from 2 yrs ago, I think it's acceptable.
De hace 3-4 aรฑos
Going through my old pictures on Steam, thought people might like this one
Nada was actually using this simulation thing?
The simulation computer ||you can put Artemis|| in? It was always active back then?
Well this was an early Atlas as I recall with Nada and Polo and you could get a mutlitool ect inside
OMG they need to bring it back! I now regret not playing NMS sooner ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ
Iโd love to see that computer being active again
Me too the mutli tools were very nice
oh lord same
I have a 2018 save with 57 minutes in it, never played more due to some reasons and then drivers/bios update annihilated the perf of my gpu in my laptop in a lot of games, NMS included
So it's just like new NMS now?
haven't tested it yet, but things like the anomaly I'd imagine would be new
I have only been playing NMS since October 2021
Liminal space vibes
Pretty
have no idea if it's possible to land on trees/objects anymore
Trees go "poof" if you attempt to land on them now.
Thatโs not legacy
Legacy shots only here @raw pulsar
My fault didn't realize I posted here!
some screenshots i have left from february 2017

im so burnt out on NMS but when I see these old screenshots and pre-release stuff, I'm re-energized
It would have been cool to see 2016 NMS with added variety to its planet/creature/biome generation. It would be the closest we have to the original vision of the game
What's that stone with the runes on it?
That's a publicity shot from 2016 or before - knowledge stone.
Another publicity shot.
Looks I need to go over all your entries at this point. Please credit others if you post their shots.
There was a NMS comic released by a collector's edition when the game was just released and the cover of that comic had this stone on it.
I would love to see the return of these runestones and make them have a similar function as monoliths or something.
Are these publicity shots from HG? If so, can you please add a caption to each that is not your own?
Apologies for the confusion.
Thank you for updating them
Np
It had some critical missing pieces like quick menu, but I would agree for the most part.
ofc im talking about launch and not prerelease there
Why do we have slowmode in legacy screenshots, isnt this precisely where we want people to dump 40 pics at once?
To avoid conversation exactly like this.
But.... It does nothing to avoid those conversations and everything to prevent sweet photo dumps
Otay has had zero issues posting lovely photo "dumps."
You say that but Ive done a dump or two as well, and it entails dropping the pics in bulk, weighing down the enter key, and doing something else for the time that my PC is absolutely consumed by that requirement
In fact its the reason I havent dumped more in the past, because I would really rather continue being able to use my computer in that time
Easy workaround, dump as many as Discord allows in one post at a time
Whatever workaround you're talkin about I don't know about. Help a poor fellow out
Oh, Discord allows for multiple images to be uploaded per post. So it can help speed up the process you're trying to accomplish, bypassing the cooldown.
I understood that much, I just don't know how to do that
If you're on PC, you can select multiple image files, by pressing the Shift key (if listed in sequential order).
Nah thats what Ive always done and it posts them all separately, slowdown timer between every one
Unless its recently change lemme give it a try
Exo you should make a beautiful collage and give it a frame made of flowers and twinkies
Neat, it does clusters now, look at that
Speaking of pre-release, there are unused models left in the files like large trees which were used in e3 2014 and 2015
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe they removed this tree variant from the game (the two middle screenshots)
Maybe they did in later versions but they would still be sitting around in older versions files same as ever
Yes I'm talking about post Next update
Proper mountains in the background tbh
Sad they removed them tho, the mass removal of assets over the years is so wack
There were so many cooler tree and grass and stuff and now theyโre gone
All pre and post release deprecated assets amount for far more variety than some biomes have access to.
HG has taken a curated approach that seems antithetical to the game's concept.
Yeah, especially looking at pre-release Frozen worlds and current ones
It makes absolutely no sense to remove your hard work for seemingly no reason, and it didnโt even do anything good. Just imagine if we had the old and new assets mixed together, it would almost double variety.
Especially for lush worlds, they halved the amount of different tree types, and I see the same big thick tree asset in every lush world I stg
Honestly, it's hard to tell.
Some assets didn't make it at release but are technically dated, while other (like above screenshots) are perfectly fine, even look better than what we have, sometimes.
But the weirdest part is HG's tendency to sunset some of their assets.
Since release, we've lost trees, cave objects, underwater objects.
Also, not many people mention that but some assets that are still in use have regularly been gutted of some of their shapes and accessories.
There seems like almost no reason to get rid of them as well, it didnโt do anything good besides removing maybe 10mb on the file size
Toxic mushrooms have lost almost half of their shapes compared to release version.
The size of the game (especially models) has increased drastically with beyond because modified the geometry to improve LODs.
This channel has the same ruleset as #nms-photomode-gallery, with a slowdown and discussion kept to a minimum (i.e. single comments at an image). Images that are from modern NMS will be removed without warning.
Anything previous to Origins (3.0) is acceptable.
5 hearts will give images an entry in #the-louvre and also our Twitter page!
The new assets in Origins did help with variety to an extent, but compared to what we saw in pre-releaseโฆโฆ. They put in the effort to make those worlds, why couldnโt they just put them in?
Oop oke
Yep
The majority of players begged for lush worlds and mULtIplaYer, modern nms is the result
Still makes no sense they removed stuff for lush worlds if people wanted them
@outer arrow @mighty venture I tried subtle <#legacy-screenshots message>.That didn't work. No extended conversations here please.
So many lovely shots, Dane! For future reference, if you'd like multiple shots having a chance of being featured in #the-louvre and our Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/NMSCord), you can upload the images individually, so ppl can heart/vote each separately. Also, if you're on Twitter and would like us to tag your handle there, try !MyAccount your_twitter_url in #bot-spam
thank you! I'm not on Twitter but I'll be sure to post individually next time. I just didn't want to spam ๐ lol

Yooo thatโs super pretty looking!! They should totally have added that lol

Legacy looks really interesting, and while I like the direction that the game has gone in, I would have liked an expanded and refined legacy as well.
My old Airbase above a the ruins of a derelict freighter
@silver nova pre-origins only please.
Oh man this hit me
Wow....that's pretty.
@frosty helm This is for legacy shots (Pre-Origins), you want #nms-photomode-gallery
yeah its a version my friend sent
Found this one in my screenshot archive from 2016
Haha, remember veins that were hills instead of in the ground? ๐
Thats not a vein thats a pacman ghost
I did enjoy making them into little ghosts before I finally cleared them out
this is what i want. Planets with atmospheres yet no life.
yeah desert planets nowadays are almost always surprisingly full of life
Lol that hill has eyes
I always loved this old one, but before photo mode, so it has all those markers on there. ๐คฎ
@tribal vale This is for shots from before Origins ๐ฆ (just missed #nms-photomode-gallery)
OOPS! You are right. That was a missclick by me! ๐
This is for pre-origins, you just missed #nms-photomode-gallery @mighty venture

I found one a bit smaller than that in the current version a couple days ago! A few are still around, hiding from us lol
Beaky
You should bring this animal to a later update to see if it still looks the same
That is likely extinct on that planet, or the planet itself no longer there or different. That said, those parts are still in game so that sort of creature can still be found.
That was the launch version so there's been a few galaxy resets since then
aye, I completely forgot that pets were not a thing back then. wonder if the animals ID would result in the same animal in current updates.
(AR) some dead planets used to have atmosphere
(AR) a monument me and someone called koen back in AR, on a peak of a nearby mountain from my home
@pure python just letting you know, this channel meant for pre-frontier screenshot
๐
Genuinely thought I made a mistake seeing you ping me here.
Taken about 2 or 3 days after launch on the first planet (Renamed from original), I had no idea what it was, as it was completely non functional. As you can see the cluttered Map, was always fun trying to get rid of them.
wow
Traveler crew?
sometimes travelers spawn in place of freighter crew
happened back then still happens now occasionally
Thats amazing, never seen that before.
Probably my oldest photo. Itโs apparent why I took a screenshot. This was way back in the beginning. Something about the older versions strike me as more intriguing versus now which I donโt understand since thereโs so much to see now.
Playing AR for the first time. Looking pretty. uwu
Wait. Where is this??? What is this??? ๐ฎ
Freighter bridge 1.3 2017
I want a Traveller crew for my freighter!
Itโs based off chance as travelers could randomly replace any npc in stations or on freighters
I donโt know if it still happens anymore
#bringitback . Also that tunic thingie some of them are wearing.
done
Thanks. Looks so much nicer now.
@mighty venture this is for prior to Origins. You want #nms-photomode-gallery
Ty
Found an old ass screenshot I made. I think this was either around or before Foundations
Ah yeah it was because much later I took this one cos thanks to Next I think progress got reset and I was a bit salty but that was gone once I saw this
Synthwave vibes, anyone?

First Photo mode shot back in pathfinder day 1
dang i miss this dude
Few old screenshot wallpaper photos of mine back in the day ๐
AR
oop ty
Do you have the coordinates for this? ((Long shot I know))
Legacy exclusive?
In which version creative mode was added?
Foundation 1.10
Thanks
crinkly rocks
the old terrain gen had more micro-texture in the modelling (don't know how to describe it), it added a real physicality
I preferred the legacy water
I prefer Nextโs water when it wasnโt broken
Now (pre-release) water is perfection
(pre-release)
Btw, is this your screenshot or HG stock screenies like the other ones? And which aspect of it is it that you're referring to as "broken"? The shoreline water effect?
That little effect when you enter water now, where it recedes and ruins the water effect and generation (hope they fix that with WHALE update)
Anyway thatโs my only contribution cause this is screenshot channel
I tried labeling it (pre-release) so people could make that distinction.
The ones that are not labeled are my own.
Why do legacy screenshots seem more beautiful than modern ones?
pretty relative tbh. just like art
Just like art โค๏ธโค๏ธ๐จ๐
I think there was certainly more consistency in older versions. Now youโll often visit a planet that has some stylized looking cacti for instance, but surrounding that will be a bunch of hyperrealistic looking rocks which is visually inconsistent, it seems Hello Games are unable to make a full transition in either direction, so it leaves the game looking a bit all over the place at times.
Do you know what main hangers they made? It just seems like thereโs more beautiful and/or blended color palettes back then whereas now itโs mostly all one color per area.

Had some issues, need familiar role now
How nice.. Someone decided to ruin it for the rest of us I guess ๐
It might get fixed in the future.
@copper pine missed #nms-photomode-gallery

@wild lodge I don't think I've ever noticed you playing a legacy version. Are you playing a retro copy now or just dropping a much older pic?
That's from a few months ago, I still have 1.0 on the ps4
1.0
Stuck the landing. (Atlas Rises)
Me and my starship on my original save, taken 1/11/2020.
Sadly I lost this save a while ago though
Looks like a Starwars Shuttle
(taken in Atlas Rises)
(Foundation) that reminds me while talking about diplos earlier. Last time creature SITS.
I was looking at my super old screenshots and found this image i took of when i first got into modding nms back in 2017. Not sure what version exactly it might be atlas rises
i like those trees
360 rainbow
The timing, the pre-next plants, and the short grass basically guarantee Atlas Rises, like you said ๐
Amazing
So how do you post pictures here? I still have the very first one I took on Launch Day
You might need the first rank to post here, but otherwise it's the same as any other image drop in discord
Found this on my USB of a pure silver A class fighter I found back on either Foundations or Pathfinder. Never found one like it since ๐
I don't like many fighters, but for some reason fighters that almost resemble fighter jets I loooove.
Back in the day where you could find a big ass animal on a low atmosphere planet
