What solved my problem was to optimize the sky, at the same time it started working less laggy.
I think it has something to do with how heavy the game is now after the update, so I cleaned some stuff off my phone too

after i did that my phone started to work better and less stuttered

It seems so yes. Water got new reflections (and sanctuary has a lot of it) and the shadows highlights were adjusted. These can bring to knees some even decent GPUs while other even regular powered phones can be fine.

I wouldn't consider it "good" unless you get a consistent 30 or 60 fps. (The G57-MC2 isn't powerful enough for a smooth experience)

RAM doesn't matter when your GPU only has two "cores" or as they call it "media clusters." Hence the MC2. Most higher end phones have a GPU with 12+ media clusters. (The Pixel 6 uses a G78-MC20 for example)

Try to remove all notifications from phone's notification tray, clear sky cache.
Make sure you have factory installed android (no custom ROM) and uninstall all apps which may conflict. Remove apps over apps feature. Never seen this issue whereas I'm sure others have s10+ too therefore it's very weird.
Try to click "local account" from sign in options to see if you can sign in with that.
Make sure you have Google play games app installed from the store.

Hello hello, I'm playing sky on two mobiles. These two mobile phones have the same model and brand, so basically completely identical. I play on 30fps on both as well, but I noticed that one phone looks smoother than the other when playing sky. Not that it has storage problems either because one phone still as 44GB free space and the other has 50GB free space. Is there anything else that would affect sky's performance?

Storage can't make difference. The following can make difference tho:

• different android builds
• different kernels
• some phones regardless same model have different chipset (for example: Samsungs' Exynos and Snapdragons for s10e are night and day difference)
• different apps in background or even just installed
• different android settings
• different launcher
• device degradation: a more used device not necessarily able to have the power as if it was new
  So any of these or combined can be a reason

your gpu is likely not powerful enough, even though you think it is. many games can be “heavy” in that they take up a lot of space - that doesn’t necessarily mean they require top of the line gpus to run well. sky is extremely graphics intensive to the point where a nintendo switch will most certainly lag and run below 30 fps in some areas as well

If you search for Samsung Galaxy tab a8, there's a bugreport about a missing wing light, therefore Sky is playable on it. But only one post so there's barely any experience about it. It can do 30fps at maximum

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) is compatible as the OS is 64 bit and it should be Android 11. However the Adreno 504 (GPU) is a very weak GPU for Sky and will not give good performance.

Unless you have the 2015, 2017, or 2018 version. These are incompatible due to being 32 bit as well as being too old.

The 2021 Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 may work but the Processor (Unisoc Tiger T618) it uses is uncommon so it may have issues

The best 'affordable' Android tablet with a good sky experience will be Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro, both of them can do 60fps easily. Tab S6 and above from Samsung can do 60fps too(except lite and fan editions)

That's the Android tax. Not much we can do except submit a bug report and hopefully TGC can figure out a way to increase graphics of devices that score higher on the "GPU score" they check to enable 60 FPS for higher end devices... Maybe a Native resolution option at 30FPS like newer iOS devices have.

I've heard about s21 series phone too which is pixelated whereas other weaker phones are not. It seems to be a Samsung issue.

There is a workaround, go to the game plugins app and use the game booster plus plugin. There you can select to prioritise the graphic quality. And you can also try out other setting there. Won't be a dramatic improvement, but will be better for sure(works for Samsung devices only)

Screen Hz refresh rate has nothing to do with game fps, this is why. Screen Hz refresh rate (try to think it as a human blink rate) is far from the heavyness of game rendering fps (changing paintings in front of the blinking person) on GPU. That would fry and / or crash even flagships for Sky

Even YouTube desktop - where the task is playing a simple video, not rendering a game and its dynamic elements real time - doesn't have 144fps, only 60 fps occasionally.

If you give me the model of their phone, I can tell you if it's compatible. There are plenty of devices with Android 10+ that are still 32 bit. Example: the Samsung Galaxy A10e is 32 bit but can be upgraded to Android 11. (Hint: Sky is a 64 bit application and any phone running a 32 bit OS cannot run it.)

Having an alternate account means having a second license to the game. In the terms of service, they explicitly state they grant you only one license to the game. Having a second one does in fact break the TOS.

When it involves online games where an account is involved, "copies" of the game are usually interpreted by law as accounts and not actual copies of the game or all of us who have multiple digital copies for our many devices (for example, I have Sky on my phone and Switch) would be breaking that section of the TOS.

You're trying to install the global version, which isn't accessible in China. You would want to get the Netease version, the Chinese version of Sky. Both are run by different companies. Global version is ran by TGC and isn't available in China. The Chinese version is ran by Netease and is only available in China. I'm not sure where you would get the Chinese version since I'm not familiar with any of the strictly Chinese apps, but I'm sure that you'll find it somewhere

As games evolve and get updates the hardware requirements get higher usually and almost never lower. Android is already a port from iOS with many limitations for the devs

Sky was originally written to iOS (64bit) which was a many years work for the dev team to write a self written engine. Sky is a no no on 32bit

Very unlikely. TGC is already trying to support the oldest devices they possibly can, but there are always new and updated devices that that they also need to support and tocus on. Focusing on devices that are losing support form their own companies and/or have stopped being produced isn't really ideal for a company that probably wants to evolve and provide support to newer devices. With two requirements not being displayed on the device spec sheet, that is easier said than done. I.E. On paper and hardware wise, the Galaxy A10 is capable of playing Sky but since Samsung cheaped out on that device, it's not compatible due to them building the OS as 32 bit instead of 64 bit. (Like Oppo did to the A5s)

That's the other requirement that isn't on any spec sheet: if a device has proper Vulkan Drivers. Blame your OEM. Vulkan has been a part of Android since 6.0. If your OEM hasn't added it in your kernel, they cut corners to reduce the cost of the phone.

I had similar problems with custom Roms. Some distros don't add the strings needed for Vulkan to properly work. Although the only game that's affected is Sky, the rest of the 3D intense games load without issue.
I could pinpoint the issue and sent the data to Sky Support, but as it is already a risky thing to use custom ROMs, the case was archived just as knowledge that the issue may happen if your device is not using proper software.

The new 0.16.1 hotfix rlly lagged my device. Thankfully, enabling 4x MSAA and Disable HW overlays in developer settings kinda reduced the fps drops to some extent. Try this out if it works and see

In this aspect, take my phone into consideration, Realme 8 5g. (proceedes to write a whole essay lol) I bought this phone because it had a 90hz display and a 5g processor and also because it was quite a cheap phone too. When I first installed the game, it was quite a smooth 30fps experience for me (this was in July tbh) but after the patch update in between Season of the little Prince, the game started having issues here and there. After Flight update, the game became quite stable, or that's what I thought . Now with the new reflections update, my phone can barely survive with another app like SoundCloud in the background for more than 2 songs before the OS kills SoundCloud and the game starts having heavy fps drops. So..... Sky is pretty intensive on the GPU. No matter whether you have a good CPU or a bazillion gbs of RAM, if ur gpu can't handle the game, it's pretty useless.

Yeah, it's just because they're underwater or near water. It makes more sense in the seasonal area, but some of the wax in other realms will appear blue if it's close enough/partially submerged in water too

GameCenter/Apple ID is iOS only, as long as you use a different link method, like gmail or facebook, you can use that link method on Android

When you start the game on Android, it will ask if you're a new player, you say no and it will ask you which link method to log in with. on iOS, to link another account, just click the cog wheel and select account and link a new method.

It is lagging because it needs to do 2 heavy tasks together (screen recording + Sky). It would lag with Google play record as well. Try to change battery mode settings lower (to battery saver) but unfortunately the final solution is a stronger device because it depends on hardware

Depending on your Android version, you might want to go in developer setting> force activities to be resizable, enable freeform windows, enable freeform sizecompact. This worked on my realme 8 5g, but might not work on others. Give it a try and see for yourself

From there, open the game and instantly close it. Head to open apps menu and by tapping on the 3-dot icon (or whatever that allows you to open the app or lock it in place in your OS), you should find options like floating windows and maybe split screen. Just give these a try

Well the ultimate fix (regardless user beliefs) would be an update from your phone manufacturer. Sky is less cpu demanding but heavily depends on GPU and not fully up to date or just a tiny bit sloppy drivers can mess with Sky.
I suggest to #report-a-live-bug so devs may find a fix in future update for your issue.

after i play for a longer period of time/1-2-3hours (or sometimes even just when i start) i cant look and see what is up, i can only look forward, down, and to the sides.

Ikr. People have no idea in what way Sky is demanding and in what areas. Sky's self made applauded engine uses less cpu and Ram, but uses more GPU. GPU optimization is the area where some manufacturers fail to optimize.

Sky uses dynamic rendering of objects and many sparkles including dynamically reacting clouds. It's a totally different demand on phone and moreover on a different engine.

Tbh I think 'High Performance Mode' aka 60fps mode looks much better and feels more responsive than three lightning bolts. It isn't a very large difference in terms of how crisp or sharp it looks and 3 lighting bolts are not used many either. Since you're getting a new phone, make sure it is 60fps capable as there are pretty affordable options now

Then it isn't compatible with that device. I would suggest searching the play store for a 64 bit checking app, like AIDA64 or similar. Spec sheets never show if the "OS" is 32 bit. Only shows if the "hardware" is "64 bit capable." Some OEMs cut costs by building their budget devices as 32 bit to reduce build time.

If your device is 64 bit, Motorola could have not built the device with Vulkan drivers, which are needed for Sky's graphics.

You can see under system in AIDA if your device at least has some version of Vulkan in it, also.

A lot of areas since the beginning of Abyss, like ark, which again results into unfair seasonal candle loss today, cannot be entered without mine and many others' phones completely booting down.
Shouldn't a killer bug like this be mentioned in known issues?
It would give some comfort to know that they are at least aware...
If it keeps persisting players will soon miss out on cosmetics (if they haven't already by starting Abyss just a little later), maybe not even able to complete the season even with pass?

I’m currently trying to restore my items to my second account it was working always perfectly fine and all got transferred, now it’s only transferring the half of it and items like the witch hat and the fish cape are stuck on the other account. Any idea why? I reinstalled the game already

Because what you have done is unsupported. Transferring items between accounts have never been supported and has never been a feature. IAP moving between accounts have always been a bug if the player used the same payment source for several accounts. You're even lucky because if you keep an eye out frequently in #questions-and-help a lot of users lost even hundred of dollars IAP because they got lost in the void. I strongly recommend to use completely different devices and payment methods from now on for your accounts and use the IAP gifting option because you might have had luck but you're playing with a timed bomb. The time when will it happen is uncertain so be very cautious

Note: even support can't help you with those cases because how Google play binds IAPs to payment sources is out of their control

If you decide to transfer your account to another device because you've lost the device, or are just getting a new device, your account will transfer fully. All iaps , progress etc. Stay with the account no matter what. What Kaiser did isn't transferring accounts

It should work without errors if your manufacturer didn't overtweak its droid and has proper updates. It should be capable of 30fps normal mode but I highly recommend getting a phone with a better GPU because it's not a bulletproof choice for long term Sky gameplay

hey i have a question about fps

i played sky with my mother today and she had a good, smooth experience but mine performs not as great. its... tolerable, most of the time, but i notice it a lot when i see her phone next to mine.

sometimes it spikes for several minutes and i have to play on the lowest setting, but even still it's not nearly as smooth as i've seen in gameplay videos

we both use android, also my phone is still new. i don't have full storage or anything
mine is a galaxy a12, in case that's important
i really really love sky and I would really prefer to be able to enjoy it with smoother fps

So I just bought a high end android phone (Galaxy S20 FE Snapdragon) and I have a question for you

Why do the clouds still look like 8-bit blocky square things?

Even on highest settings, the last two or three current versions of Sky after the Android Graphics "update " (more of a downgrade to me) have looked way worse on my android phones. I still own the older Redmi Note 10 and the clouds looked way better on it before the patches arrived.

Now even on a flagship phone I still can't get the best quality possible

If you're talking about the E series, those are 32 bit and cannot play Sky, ever. Sky is a 64 bit app and needs a 64 bit device to play it.

I know almost every E series is 32 bit. Motorola cut costs on their budget devices by making them 32 bit. Less labor to make than a 64 bit device. (development time. 64 bit build take about 3-4 times longer to build than 32 bit builds)

Yeah, seems like everyone just forgot about it🤧 maybe the devs are fixing it but the only thing I saw was more complaints even after the patch that seemingly didn't affect it but yeah, not fixed and no news of it

Please keep in mind they are working on it. Devs don't have hundreds of devices so it's possible that they dont notice a fix before live release.The update cycles take weeks tho so if a bug hits live it takes time until the fix comes to us

Eh, even an "adb logcat >log.txt" would probably help immensely if the game's call causes a whole device crash.

That leads me to believe some new API call isn't in the device's kernel causing a kernel panic which would cause an abrupt reboot.

Why a studio. The minimal ADB standalone package found easily by a quick Google search would enable ADB access on windows. Mac and Linux have it by default in terminal. You only need to turn on USB debugging from Dev options to grab a logcat via PC.

I don't think you need sudo if doing it from a terminal app from the Play store, iirc.

@wind pollen simply put, both devices are very same in terms of performance and other hardware aspects. The only thing you need to decide is the OS/UI you'll like. That's upto preference and the work you'll do. There certain places where each of them shine and I personally would choose the S8 as I'm used to Android and it feels very at home to me. So, watch some reviews and find which device checks most boxes of your requirements. As an extra tip, the Samsung comes with an S Pen in box and iPad needs the pencil to be bought separately. If you wanna save some money, you can check out Mi Pad 5 Pro as well

It's not a long term solution but you can try using a friend's or a relative's device and relive the spirit, if you need the ts

You can see the minimum requirements here in pins. Ram doesn't count, sky is not ram hungry but GPU hungry. The settings are based on your GPU and may be reduced to avoid frame drops. The clouds are frequent issue on Android thanks to Android fragmentation and that they are constantly moving, floating

On some updates the clouds look smooth and after other update the clouds look coarse. It keep alternating on every update. So I think it's not possible to guess GPU requirements.

That's based on just personal experiences. It exactly alternates on specific GPUs usually whereas other android users don't notice change (apart from rare cases)
