In regard to your last sentence: “is it meant offensively, or is the slur reclaimed by a person.” That, alone, is very touchy and in dangerous waters. I’d say 85% of the time, we can distinguish offensive behaviour vs being reclaimed, but that doesn’t stop others from being uncomfortable by a still offensive word. You’d also open the door for “it’s only okay for ‘X’ person to do it.”

The best example I can give that would relate to this deals with race, but I don’t want to dive into that conversation, as it would be a whole other topic, but still relating to offensive vs. reclamation, if you catch my drift.

The resurgence of it that I’ve noticed has used it in the derogatory way as an insult 100% of the time. In fact, other than a few times in childhood, listening to educational videos, etc., I’ve only ever heard that term used to be mean and hateful.

English is also my mother tongue.

I'm French-Canadian and while yes the french word for late is the r slur, it's not the same at all. It's very easy to tell when someone is using it in a normal conversation, as a normal french word, versus when they aren't.

In most spaces where slurs against a marginalized people exist (my experience being Disabled and Queer spaces as I'm both) it's pretty common knowledge that reclaiming a slur is something for personal use, not a means of using the slur to speak down to others. /gen

And it's use as a medical term is outdated and highly criticized within the affected spaces

They have a prosthetic leg assest already because of Najuma, which could just be used on a player character as a customisable option, but things like wheelchairs and canes etc would be hard to integrate animation and movement wise

Hearing aids would be fine I think, as glasses are already an option, and they’d just be cosmetic like those without any animation requirements

Plus they already have 1 type of cane animation with Eshe

Palia itself sorts you into a region that's closest to you. You can always try changing instances (changing maps and coming back) if you can't communicate with folks in chat.

For a time, cross-region play was broken, and lots of us used VPNs to play with people in other regional servers.
This is currently the only way to choose your server region.

You can completely change all your key bindings in settings. So, go set a different key for the camera.

Oh the mouse cursor is offset for 50% of the players.

• Windowed -> fullscreen -> apply window settings.

Yes!! What I try to do is just have one earbud in and turn the camera so the waterfall is the direction of the ear with no bud in. Can still hear it but not as bad! The camera still then swizzles round when something takes the bait, but it’s better than being given a headache from the waterfall sound.

Also I did a cooking party the other day where there were flow trees on the plot behind me. Whenever I went into chopping mode the flow tree hum was awful!!! No way to avoid it so took my earbuds out! Messed up the Chopping rhythm a few times with no sound feedback but it was better than the flow tree hum

Warning ahead of time: the fireworks are loud and bright. So if you are sensitive to those things you should be careful.

The balloon pops are fainter than I expected which is good. (It makes sense with them being farther away.) And they sound more like drum sounds then regular balloon popping.

I stayed up on the higher parts of the docks and it wasn't too bad for me. The balloons spawn from the water and if people are shooting them really fast you'll be closer to the noise on the lower parts.

At the last two markets, there was a reward for setting off the final drum. There isn’t a reward this time, so I don’t bother. I don’t like fireworks IRL or in game, so I only use them for the market. I shoot them away from everyone else.

i didn't know what the drums did, it's my first market so i was going around taking everything in... but tysm for the explanation and honestly i'm glad i don't have to mess with them again the fireworks they set off were a bit overwhelming

We don't know, when s6 was bigger (they shrunk by 83-88% from launch in August 2023 to their most recent layoff in May 2024) some tried to figure it out via LinkedIn in stalking but didn't find anyone claiming to be. They've made vague noises in that direction and other players have done the same as you plus shepps have amplified player feed back, but little has come if it (just the added graphics settings with color filters, toggles with new settings, and promises for a few things that haven't arrived yet). As they cut many critical roles it's highly unlikely they have one now.

I've been here since closed beta and haven't seen evidence of one. Accessibility discussions were mostly ignored for a long time (though they still are lets be honest).

I think based on how their attempts at accessibility have been (the brightness settings for one which don't function the way they should or the vague name they chose for the colorblind settings) I highly doubt they do or ever have.

As someone with autism and some vision/hearing problems, ive found some parts of the game to be accessible to me and some to be difficult. The way that the fishing works is difficult at night for me as my fish is not any more visible than others unless it is behind a wall or something.

it can happen with any animation (it's why having settings to prevent emoji, gif, and site/app specific animations auto playing is a critical accessibility setting), but it's most common when it's abrupt or has flashes/strobing/pulsing/stark quick color changes or has moving (well even optical illusions can be a problem) high contrast patterns - fireworks have all that plus they've got loud sounds too

Stamp Cards are also returning alongside all of the merchants, vendors, and kiosks to spend your hard-earned tickets and earn accomplishments. While progress from the last Maji Market will not carry over, your Stamp Card progress, collection, and accomplishments will carry over month-to-month! So if Maji Market wraps before you complete an achievement, you can pick up right where you left off in the next month’s night market.

They actually mentioned some kind of "switch off effects" option as having been included a while ago, however, it wasn't actually included and they proceeded to delete it from the patch notes as well.

rumor is that the effects are only for the wearer - not sure i've seen anyone with the bow or idle animation yet, but the sword doesn't do anything I could see - and from seeing a streamer demonstrate it seems the lightening is fairly contained to just right around the loot bag rather than lighting up the area.

We absolutely need settings to toggle off flashes and effects, just wanted to reassure folks that the current ones shouldn't add another barrier to playing... just to buying the tool skins which seems a bad business move

Idk what platform you play on, but i use PC and found an in game setting to remove camera shake when mining and chopping trees. It has been a life saver for me. The flashing is still bothersome as I am also photosensitive and struggle with sensory issues, but removing the camera shake made things more tolerable.

there was supposed to be a way to turn of your own outfit effects but it didn't make it in as planned. turning off outfit and pet effects is definitely needed generally for safety, but turning off outfit effects and stowing or parking pets needs to happen during the mini games full stop for performance reasons

My apologies in advance for the lengthy post. I'll try to break it into sections as much as possible. 💙

I know it's been a while since I've been chatty in here. For those of who you don't know me, I'm one of the Shepps--people in the Palia Community who applied (and from that pool of applicants, selected) prior to the start of Closed Beta and embodied Palia's values, supporting the community in a variety of ways, anything from providing joy through top-tier memes to creating guides to helping answer questions in the Discord and so much more. I started out making a few video guides, but I'm more known for my Palia Parodies and my work advocating for Accessibility in Palia.

I'd been playing Palia since Alpha 1, and I was so excited for a game that marketed itself so heavily as inclusive. As a disabled and neurodivergent gamer, I've been passionate about disability/accessibility education and acceptance, and my feedback has reflected this since the beginning. One should not claim inclusivity if the disabled and/or neurodivergent populations are left out.

When the channel for discussion about accessibility issues first was removed, I aggregated the concerns raised by the community, added my own as well, and went to the CMs about it. I understood that S6 wanted all feedback to go through the new form, as the Discord was too large for the previous method to be sustainable; however, I advocated heavily that a channel was still necessary for us to be able to talk with each other about what we're experiencing, share the workarounds we'd discovered, and help each other feel less alone. This channel we're in right now was added to address that. The community was understandably upset at the statement that S6 would not have anyone actively reading the channel; however, I took it upon myself as a Shepp to observe and be a presence in the chat, and to escalate accessibility issues raised here to S6 in whatever additional ways I could in my role.

I created the (sadly now outdated) workarounds/adaptations sheet here in the pins, and escalated the aggregated issues reported in Yohannes' google doc (also in the pinned post). The other Shepps can attest that more often than not, whenever I would communicate with them or S6, it was about accessibility needs in Palia.

Back in February-March of this year, I collaborated with former Shepp-turned-Moderator, Mavebrick along with community members Marcy and AdmiralSky to roll out a comprehensive survey around disability in Palia's players, accessibility in Palia and games in general, whether or not accessibility in a game impacts the willingness to pay into the game (e.g. purchasing Palia Coins), etc. The Palia Partners/Content Creators helped spread the word about the survey and over 200 players participated. We were confident we'd be able to reach S6 with the data we'd collected. One of the CMs started posting here in the channel, and expressed their intent to be a more active participant in the conversation with the disabled community.

And then the layoffs hit.

Within a matter of days from that CM's post, they were let go in a wave of layoffs from S6. The CM team had already dropped from 4 to 3 to 2 between Closed Beta at the beginning of August 2023 and Christmas 2023, including the CM who founded the Shepp program. With this layoff, we were down to one CM.

She was still committed to partnering with us, but bearing the workload of (at least) four roles, she couldn't be active in the chat here. We were working with her to get our findings in front of S6 and their leadership. Approximately 6 weeks later, they let her go in the next round of layoffs. We no longer had a Community Manager.

At this point, I'd been playing/testing Palia for 2-ish years, it was 9 months since Open Beta began, the needle on accessibility had barely budged, and day after day, the accessibility feedback was the same issues, over and over again. Or worse--issues we'd raised on existing content previously that now applied to new content that continued the inaccessibility. I was burning out hard, and my morale was so low, it was like the sky didn't exist anymore. I had so much stress betwee my day job and fighting for this community, I developed shingles (they're gone now).

I struggled to give people hope for accessibility and change, that things would get better, because--despite the efforts and aspirations--it rarely did. For my own health, I took a sort of hiatus. I no longer posted in here on the regular. I would peek in occasionally, look to see what was going on and if there was anything particular I could try to shout out to whomever might still be listening at S6, particularly if it was an issue that could be life-threatening. This was at least somewhat effective in one instance; however, since that point, my communications seem to go unheard.

At this point, I feel that S6 is no longer listening. I believe there are people within S6 who are listening and who genuinely care; however, they are not the people in power, with the ability to act upon these concerns. I do not believe there is an accessibility consultant at S6, and I would be highly surprised if they even have something like a Disability ERG (Employee Resource Group).

Despite all the heartbreak, I won't say that I feel my time as a Shepp has been wasted. I learned a tremendous amount chatting and playing with you all, and we've had some incredible discussions that have helped others become more understanding, accepting, and gained more allies for building inclusive spaces everywhere we go.

I am officially resigning as a Shepp. (Not sure how long it'll take the role/tag to go away but yeah.)

A little sidenote: If your computer can download GeForce Now it should be able to run the game through that! It's has a free tier that allows you to play the game on your computer but they house it on their servers and stream it back to you live. That's how I play on my pretty crappy laptop because switch is basically unplayable for me right now!

I can't play chapaa chase - Switch issues with chapaas not appearing correctly, and I am far too slow for the balloon game as well. Though I think the balloon game could work if you just randomly shoot into the general area of the balloons - you'll get the community tickets, and probably also a few from your own hits. It'll be a very slow way to earn those tickets, so might not help much with the frustrating part of all this. Maybe if you can do something else in real life?

Hey Pixiewings, I'm not a developer and generally don't like having tons of open dms, so I'll answer here.
S6 is the name of the developers of Palia. They pretty much are the only ones who can really change something, and the only way to let them know you want a change is by sending them some feedback. It doesn't have to be super complicated feedback, the message you sent here would probably easily be enough to let them know there's a problem.
Unfortunately, I cannot promise you that your feedback will lead to anything, you most likely won't get an answer but there's nothing more than that that players like us than do.

Oh geez thanks for the warning. It's frustrating they keep adding more flashing effects when they still haven't responded to accessibility requests since launch about having a reduce flashing lights toggle in the settings. It triggers migraines for me and I'm so sensitive that even the tool effect when mining or chopping trees I have to close my eyes or ill get symptoms pretty quickly. When chopping I have to position my camera so I can't see the repeating sparkle from cutting veggies

"Reduce Motion Sickness" in game settings:
• In "Gameplay Settings" turn off Allow Camera Shake and you can also try enabling Persistent Center Reticle.
• In "Graphics Settings" change Anti-Aliasing Method from TAA to FXAA and Post Process settings to Low.
• Then, click the "Advanced" tab in Graphics Settings and increase Frame Rate Limit from 60 to 120+ (if your hardware can handle it), change FOV from 90 to 80- (whatever you prefer).
• Finally, in the "Control Settings" drop Camera Sensitivity from 0.5 to 0.3.

Posting my settings here to help others who are trying to reduce motion blur in game. Hope this helps others with motion sickness!

i think simple vibration is used for fishing, but I can't imagine the Palia devs putting resources into supporting advanced controller features when they can barely get regular controller features working correctly.

My understanding is that the only advanced feature supported by the Switch controller is that it can do more precise rumble intensities, and I don't see them targeting PS5 controller trigger resistance when the game isn't on the PS5 yet.

sent a very, very stern bug report about the snowball issue and implored them to remove the effects from the snowballs or remove the ability to throw them all together. i would rather they not have to remove their use case, but if they won't prioritize fixing it, they need to do the absolute next best thing and prioritize that.

they have options, some are only legal cover but still options. From least to most work, logistical barriers, & value:

• add a warning to the patch notes
• put out a warning on socials
• use one of the 3 in game notice methods (login page, announcements, inbox) that don't seem to require a patch to add a flash warning
• add a general warning to the game (like others have during loading, on the log in screen, or as a popup/gate), warning of flashing effects
• Go all hands on deck to mitigate the snowball flash issue and see if there's a mechanism for an emergency patch via nintendo, but put it out for pc anyway even if steam and epic also don't allow it they can do it for their own launcher at minimum
• The above for all reported flashing issues
• add a setting to toggle all flash effects (bet this is something you have to plan ahead for though, so unlikely to be immediately retroactive for existing effects that are using stock events)

Those all need to come with updating their Minimum Viable Product standards to include removing/minimizing flashing effects (or to respect the toggle) to prevent this from getting worse.

it is in them, however, statements like these only covers intentional design, and it's not a blanket protection guaranteed to protect them. the snowball effect isn't consistently showing for all players, but most, so it's not 100% confirmed if it's intentional

this would require them to address it specifically, however, and that's when the PR fun comes in!

if they come out and say the effect is intentional and maintain it, it remains to be hostile design that alienates not just the medically endangered but also persons who don't as there's plenty of reports of other players being hurt by it. this would also severely damage their reputation for being aware of how harmful the effect is, very similarly to the cyberpunk fiasco where the intentional implementation and knowledge of widely-known seizure-inducing effects into their game. they;re already in a precarious situation where their statistics are steadily decreasing, so every bit of hostile design is a nail in the coffin of palia, intentional or otherwise.

if they do address it as a problem, and haven't gone above and beyond to make sure it stops, that's another way they're damaging their reputation by not taking the wellbeing of their players into consideration.

if they don't address it at all - and that's probably what they're going to do since the seasonal event is probably ending soon enough, and that's what they always choose to do - it doesn't hide the effect and its dangers from the players.

tl;dr: the devs are actually taking a machine gun to their own foot by not finding some resolution

from the sounds of what WC has said it's unintentional... well it being a flash to those with visually triggered disabilities is unintentional, having an effect that puts white over most of the screen and thus functions as a flash seems intentional especially with the supposed reproducibility issues between people (since different folks would label "flash" differently) and it being there for over a year

I’m aware of the privileges that I have, in terms of accessibility. I can just “turn the game off” [I use that phrase in the quotations because I know many people say that nonsense, as if it were a practical solution], and be okay, but for many people, this game is all they have. Maybe it’s their comfort game. Maybe it’s the only game they can play or afford. Maybe it’s the only game where they have friends/can play with others. Whatever that reason is, I’m so sick of the ableism that has always lingered within the Palia community.

Having a toggle for VFX/SFX items should be standard. Having a slider for text size is THE BAREST OF MINIMUMS. And so many more accessible options, yet, all we get are more plushies and VFX outfits. I’m tired for all of you. All of you who have been begging from the beginning for a basic things that should just be a given, and not forgotten.

I’ve seen the flashbang effect from a video that was posted, and even though it wouldn’t trigger a seizure or migraine, it’s definitely hard to watch. I had to immediately turn away. See, if there was an accessibility consultant or a community manager over accessibility, or someone on the S6 team with accessibility concerns, the snowballs would’ve never had that effect. Like, who thought that was a good idea?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to put this, but does anyone know if removing the ability to place flowers on top of soil was intended? I am a low vision person and I get dizzy when I alt-tab too often, so I was using flowers as a way to remember where I placed my crops. I had a flower for each crop and flowers matching my crops in front of each seed generator. If this isn't coming back, does anyone have any recommendations for other ways to mark soil patches?

i think if they kept the safe zone markers active around your lure at all times, but maybe in a different colour while a fish isn't hooked (yellow?) or more tightly spaced to your bobber, it would be large enough to be helpful. my only problem is that people can cast their lure in the exact same spot, so even average indicators like arrows or a glow would be useless in that case where everyone else's lures are overlapping and people are using the same bobbers. the workaround could be allowing us to further customize the colour of our bobbers and providing a lot of options so there's less chance for overlap in customization on top of a glow or indicator.

if there was customization, that would greatly help people with colourblindness or low vis disabilities where they could pick options that would help them with their particular visual concerns (also the functionality already exists in game with furniture, so it'd be easier to implement)

They did a thing in FFXIV recently where if there are a lot of players around a quest NPC then the other players disappear as you approach so you don’t have to Mis click through 50 different people to talk to the person. What if there was something like if other hooks are within 12 inches of yours they kinda disappear so yours is the only one you see?

To me this is the very definition of accessibility. You should be able to enjoy your preferred aesthetic without running into things that cause confusion. Some sort of marking or labeling system for individual planting spots, seed generators, and other crafting stations should be embedded into the game somehow so that you can enjoy the natural flow of play without “feeling” things like short term memory problems, confusion, sight issues, etc

There isn't really an ability to do addons to a MMO game like this as far as I'm aware. Checking through the settings of the game, there isn't a Narrator option either.

So, I got really frustrated with the most recent Maji Market.

As a Switch player, I'm already at a large disadvantage versus PC players.

Add in my partial vision loss, minor dexterity issues, and the lack of general accessibility on Palia, and I was in tears.

When nobody added me to a group, I ended up only getting ~5 balloons and chappas. That was most times I visited the market, and it means I won't be able to complete stamp cards or get the decor items.

Has anyone else been completely discouraged like this?

as a PC player I can tell you that this user experience is cross-platform. I try shooting the balloons from the roof of the drum pagoda (you can glide down to it) and it helped greatly with the # of people around me shooting for the same balloons

First of all, the ban in general chat and discussions is in no way, shape, or form aimed at you. People were absolutely abusing it, especially in gen chat on patch days and in discussions when arguments got heated. That is why it was banned.
Secondly, all caps is not an officially recognized visual assistant. While it may be easy and work for you, it is actually discouraged as a visual aid for quite a few reasons, including:

1. It can give people with certain disabilities migraines to read in all caps at length
2. For many people with cognitive disabilities (the most commonly known one being dyslexia, but there are many others), all caps can make text confusing or even impossible to read
3. Some screen readers (not all, you may not experience this with yours) infer pronunciation from things like capitalization and italics, which can be confusing for someone who struggles with understanding things like tone
4. Some screen readers (not all), do literally read all caps as in someone is screaming and that is what it conveys to the listener -- that the person typing that is screaming it, just as many folks who can visually read all caps without assistance of a screen reader might assume someone typing in all caps is yelling.
5. Some screen readers read all caps as each letter. So if I were to say, "GOOD MORNING TO YOU", a screen reader might say to a user, "G O O D M O R N I N G T O Y O U". imagine you are someone with a cognitive disability that struggles with forming words by hearing them spelt out and instead needs to hear the words themselves or visually see them to comprehend them. The way you type with all caps may work for you, but it does not work for a large swathe of the population, and using all caps is not truly an accessible solution.
   All caps is only turned off in general chat and discussions because it was being abused there. You are free to participate in any of the other channels of this discord. My recommendation for you would be to seek out assistive technologies that will allow you to type without using all caps. There are plenty of places to find that help, I'm sure people here would be more than happy to try and help you find solutions. But it is incorrect to say it is somehow bigoted or exclusionary to exclude the use of all caps when in fact, it is more inaccessible to the general population to use it as an accessibility "solution" and not recommended as an accessibility "solution" by any organizations I've found.

Hi everyone! I'm semi newish to discord and can't seem to find a comfortable fit in any certain group. I'm hearing impaired and have found it so frustrating to hunt or cook in groups because most use voice chat. I would love to find a few people who have the same hearing disability who can do group things together without relying on voice.

Just a few things i noticed in the patch notes, I'm sure there's others that someone can post/mention too:

• Better Quest HUD ui. To help better identify Main Story Quests, Standard ones, and Event Quests.
• Says Snowball visual is fixed.
• Can view active buffs from the inventory tab-- and you can also hover over the active buff, to get a tooltip of the buff name and description.
• Fixed instances where tooltips fonts appear smaller than usual.
• Adjusted night time interior lighting for better visibility in the Aurora Peaks Landscape.

What hasn't been addressed/fixed, is the screen turning completely white sporadically. So please still be careful while playing if you are photosensitive.

All caps for most of the population is more difficult to read and a struggle. I often have to skip entire messages if someone is using all caps. It would be lovely if websites/apps could have a toggl on/off function for this so users who do benefit from it can turn it on and have the platform automatically convert for them.

*home item inspection on home tours - so you don't have to have unlocked things or have to go outside the game to find what they are

and some to be aware of

• new premium outfit with effects - less intense and black flash this time per the patch notes gif
• other new premium items in all categories don't have gifs and don't mention effects in the patch notes, maybe be fine but gotta see how they play out in game
• change that tooltips will not display on hover
• winterlights warden outfit vfx can obscure roll of dice (decor items)

Is there any update on the outfit VFX toggle that was supposed to come out in a patch a bit ago? It was something many of us were looking forward to because many of the outfit VFX in the game are migraine inducing or super flashy/eye straining.

If there is, can you confirm if it allows everyone to turn off outfit VFX (even if they don't own the outfit) or if it's only something that affects outfits the player has bought?

I might get hate for this but I am one of those people who's eyes hurt to read all caps text. I understand why some people need it and I think better solutions are needed than needing to type in caps. Not targeted towards anyone else than the problem existing and solution missing. No people hate here.

Å warning in case you didn't know! The market hot pot tables are prone to lighting issues!! They seem to either get really bright rather quickly to the point (for me) most the tiles appear white or.. Neonish? Like very bright and hurt my eyes.
The maji firework display also messes with the tables in a uncomfortable manner.
I noticed last night as well I would get random flickers and then it would darken rather quickly as well. Be safe out there
As for the white screen of death while users have been able to trigger it, the main one is on load screens to new areas it is rather quick but it is still sudden I have taken to looking away when I load new areas

BUT it is important that we work together , with S6 to fix issues & work on things , not be completely ignored for months on end!!
The word "inclusive" was made a big point of when the game became available, which it seems in some ways it's anything but. We have to make work arounds & fixes for ourselves, which gets really frustrating & disappointing.

It's all about "inclusivity" until it's suddenly easier to just cater towards the playerbase that's happy with the game as it is. Epileptic and can't play due to random flashbangs? S6 "sees and hears the issue." Struggling with visual effects but can't turn them off? S6 "sees and hears the issue." Can't play Palia because the switch support is lacking? S6 "sees and hears the issue."

But what is the point of being seen and heard if S6's actions for the past year have consistently proven otherwise?

I would be more understanding if these were new problems, and I understand that these things take time (obviously,) but it's literally been many, many months at this point. It's also really difficult to work with a team that struggles to address these issues unless provoked to do so. One can only hope that the team at S6 makes good on their promises to communicate better and actually participate consistently in discussions with players who need help with being able to play safely.

And they shouldn't just quietly add accessibility features, they need to advertise to the playerbase that these changes were made very clearly. If it were my decision, I would have the game open with a notif in the corner that has to be closed about the newly implemented accessibility options and made sure every social media the game is present on got a post about it. Adding accessibility is a thing to boast about! And a thing we want to know exists as soon as we can so we can actually use it. It drives me nuts finding out a game added something important I could use entirely by accident long after it was implemented

They unfortunately never include a11y stuff in trailers, rarely include it in patch notes even when they make related changes, and even more rarely mentioned in social post summaries. They also haven't been mentioned the fleshing out they've been doing - small little background and ambient things - and sometimes it feels like they only mention half the bugs fixes (very much a 99 bugs on the wall patch it around 107 bugs on the wall situation anyway).

So we won't know what they've addressed until folks have had a few hours in the game post patch.

Exactly! I get that they need money, but skip adding new things until you fix stability. They will lose more players due to stability problems than they will for lack of stuff to buy or lack of content, imo.
I still say if they'd have someone working with a manufacturer to make irl merch, especially plushies, they'd make a fortune and not have to spend time adding so much new stuff to the premium store to make ends meet. This would give them more time to work on accessibility and bugs.

It's very very possible someone in cs is still collating and coding feedback to pass along, beyond that? Well they say they've made note of everything, it's the action that's missing. The elderwood update (how much will be cleaned up? How much more accessible will it be? How much worse in both counts) and the public roadmap (what will it have? broad strokes, additions only, major bugs, bug reporting, feature requesting, feature voting? I've seen all levels of details, which will they go with) are going to be the last chances for the initial user base I think

I've already been drafting letters to send both digitally and physically to Valve, Nintendo, Epic, and whatever other hosts i can find that have palia on their storefront. A separate letter is being made to daybreak/S6 separately. A game that has quite literally sent people to the hospital shouldn't be out publicly, and I don't want this behavior to ever be normalized in the gaming industry.

Not sure if this is what this is for, but can we have an option to not use the cutting board? Maybe just use the roller? My vision issues make it very difficult to not miss. The blue lines blur on me. (I have glaucoma so there's some issues with focusing on moving objects.) The roller is much easier for me.
I am improving on the cutting board by memorizing speed and sound on some things, but it's still hard on my eyes, especially the really fast one with many lines close together.

SO I bought the Zeki's coin bundle for the month thingy on my switch, I have the same account on the switch and laptop but I prefere to play on my laptop for graphics reasons and smoothness. Does my purchace not show up on my laptop as well? Like I bought the coin Zeki on the switch but I have one account. Also when I bought an outfit on steam it showed on the switch so I assumed anything on the switch will transport to the laptop too since you know.. same account?

heck, even a visual indicator in general would be nice. When i'm fishing next to others sometimes the "bloop" doesn't sound and so the only indicator that I had something hooked is the animation that plays when I lose the fish. I swear I lost a couple rare ones that way.
The bobber dipping under for a solid second, like it does in animal crossing would be perfect. Gives enough reaction time for most people to react in time and focus on actually reeling in the dang things!

Sometimes its just really hard when so much of the game is the same color of blue that looks gray to me that all the blues and the grey items like at the maji market just kinda blend together and make the game super desaturated. and like when doing the quest for the fallen wish slips for lunar new year it took me forever to find the ones

Fishing is the worst!! I have an essential tremor and I’m really struggling with it, like when I click to catch it just drops the fish and reels me back in. Cooking is super difficult too. Definitely not accessible for folks with certain issues.

Yeah the unfortunate reality is that s6 has had this feedback about how inaccessible fishing and cooking in particular are since us alpha testers told them, frequently and clearly, and they've done practically nothing about it in all that time. There are some workarounds that players here have put together in a document that might help some people with some issues but it's just not the same as having accessible game design. You can find the doc in the pinned comments I think.

That does help, and now I feel a little silly for not knowing because I legit thought those fish were gone and recasted 🥲. But that still doesn't change the fact that especially if you have mobile, or sensory processing issues then the 'bloop' not happening, or being able to hear everyone else's 'bloop' can make fishing really difficult.

Luckily, I don't have many issues with cooking since the ADHD and autism doesn't effect them as much as the hearing based fishing. I can do most recipes by myself with enough practice (attempting cake soon). Most of my issues are when the inputs just suddenly don't work anymore and I have to press "unstuck" and rush back to my kitchen

If I were a dev, I’d design something like a toggle system so you have the “normie” way of doing things and then accessible versions. I can do puzzles all day but I have my eye-hand coordination is tricky and I have low dexterity due to arthritis and hEDS.

toggles sure were suggested, repeatedly, to no avail. I agree that they make the most sense and can make the game accessible to the most amount of people, especially since palia is not a competitive game

I'm colorblind; it would be helpful in literally every game in the world (I've even given many many such requests to my beloved Cyan) if they'd label the color choices so that when you hover over them, you get a like that that says, not "color 6" but "purple" (or whatever color color 6 actually is). Sigh. Whom do I write to about this? The game is beautiful even to colorblind eyes, I can only imagine it all vivid and cheerful. I just need help if I'm going to customize anything. It's sad not being able to do it independently.
