Yeah but things get lost. A lot of servers have a suggestion channel with a forum set up so you can list each idea. Others can comment and vote and it's nice and organised.

Discord is best but it amplifies the inherit issues with product idea voting. Thread management sucks.

Frankly, people are lazy.
So instesd of finding a thread their idea and sharing their thoughts, they just make a new thread. Now you have to manage duplicates to get a complete count of interest.

The laziness also skewers votes to the top items, or items presented first. People aren't going to scroll a ton to keep voting typically, so the rich get richer so to speak which dosent mean they are nesssassirly the best idea, just the most visible.

Also, we used to have feedback channels here in the discord that were discussion driven but it was up to the CMs to read through it and bring that back to S6, but with the growing workload for CMs and the decreasing number of CMs (which ofc currently is sitting at zero) it became untenable for them. Hence the feedback form that's used now.

I think WC confirming Livestock has inspired me to finally sit down and finally put all my thoughts on it into writing. Maybe I can share it here once it's done.

I want to know everyone's thoughts on the following:
1.) Ormuus and Pekis and other Creatures being a part of Gardening and renaming Gardening to "Agriculture"
2.) O's and P's and OC's needing a higher Agriculture level (Think 20 for Pekis, 30 for Ormuus) to give the skill more depth.
3.) O's/P's/OC's being locked behind a quest. (Something like... At level 20 farming, Badruu asks for your help in helping him catch his escaped Pekis and putting them back in their pen. As a reward, he will give you your very first Peki and Peki Rooster (Will elaborate on animal breeding and variants later.).

You would also unlock the ability to buy a basic Peki and Peki Rooster from Badruu but for a VERY expensive price. (Exists to prevent players from being locked out from animal husbandry if they somehow lose/trade their quest reward Pekis.

the ormuu quest needs to be where you take Kenyatta and Nai'o to a Bahari City Rodeo

or a livestock auction

Then for the quest you go around the pasture with Kenyatta and Nai'o to see what's wrong with the ormuus. It turns out they have all caught different colds and now you need to gather some materials for a treatment. Kenyatta gives you some pointers on which ingredients to gather for each ormuu's cold since she's an expert. (This would also introduce the sickness and happiness/health mechanics for when you have ormuus).

After you cure all the ormuus and the rodeo is saved.

Nai'O: Great job saving our rodeo! I can finally get these big babies home for some well-deserved rest. The only problem is points to one of the ormuus this one doesn't look like it wants to go home.

I think this one REALLY likes you. Since I can't get her to leave with me, I guess she'll have to live with you now. I don't think Dad will mind.
(After the quest, you can also buy Ormuus and Ormuu bulls but once again they're very very expensive.)

thank you <3 have you guys gotten our feedback about chapaa spawn in LNY market? one of the stamps requires us to catch 25 chapaas in one game, but it's kinda impossible... i wasn't here for LNY 2024 but i was told that the spawn was pretty bad initially and then you guys improved it after players spoke about it, but it seems to have gone back to about 100 chapaas per game this year. if we consider that a server holds up to 25 players and we put ourselves in the hypothetical situation of, everyone is playing chase... the math ain't mathing lol. i'll speak for myself, my PB is 18 and that's cuz i got lucky with a slow server, one time

Hotfixes usually shouldn't require much (if any) downtime. But S6 has mastered the art of turning a hotfix into 3+ hours of downtime.

Sometimes they deploy hotfixes when they kick you to the login screen (which is what a hotfix should be) and sometimes I think they're just doing server restarts to jiggle the bugs around a bit and make them cooperate.

We had many incidents where that wasn't the case like sometimes you can fix stuff on the servers only so clients don't need to go down, and then people moving between places go onto new servers with the fix

One time we fixed memory leaks on the Switch but it exposed a crash when equipping tool skins, we temporarily disabled all tool skins on servers so people wouldn't crash

Because when you submit a patch to certification on platforms like Nintendo/Sony/Apple/etc, they go through a whole approval process, then it goes Live and we cant press a button to go "no nevermind"

it has been and is again with the new switch 2. using hardware from 5 years ago (on release, atm ~4,5y and even cutting the 'worst' version of it even more down) is questionable.
could be an absolutely needed trade off for the form factor, battery, and so on, could be to hit a specific price / specific margin goal.

nintendo has one really big advantage and thats their own titles, which are only sold for their own console, which lets them get away with ... a lot.

yeah they get away with way too much. They build multiple games for the switch that couldn't be run properly on the switch because of its hardware being that of a blackberry cellphone

that's why I don't blame s6 for all of the switch specific problems in Palia because some are actually just stuff that happen across a wide variety of games due to the poor performance of the switch itself, like loading times, random crashes, etc. sometimes it's not the game itself

WC himself said yesterday that developing skills and existing content would be better for longterm player retention and profits than potato pods or plushies. So why haven't they done it?

Evidently his reasoning was they just don't have the manpower which hints heavily that they're putting all their eggs into 1 basket with Elderwoods.

So we can try to hold S6 accountable for all the questionable choices they have made, but it really doesn't matter at this point because they're hoping just as much as we are that Elderwoods saves the game and they can't seem to divert any of their effort elsewhere.

That'd be the best case scenario; but do you really think S6 would be capable of handling that? XD

This just reminds me of how much of a masterpiece OH's furniture system is. It's just a shame that the servers are only temporary (But you keep your unlocked recipes forever)

For me, it's not so much about playing dressup, as it is not having any way to show off your accomplishments outside of your housing plot.
A f2p player who's played 1000 hours has no way to set themselves apart from a brand new person who joined 10 minutes ago visually, aside from a tiny handful of nameplates.
When I see people running around in the world, I don't get to see any of their accomplishments, all I see is whether or not they spent IRL money.

The problem is that every form of cosmetic they could have pushed into the "earnable cosmetic" category, they instead pushed into the "paid cosmetic" category
Tool skins, glider skins, emotes, hairstyles, pets, even landscapes, have all been pushed into the "premium item only" categories and they've basically left themselves next to no room to introduce earnable cosmetics that people can show off alongside the paid stuff...

But players also have the right to not purchase anything at all as it's a free game, and S6 will eventually feel that pressure one way or another. Daybreak can't bail them out forever.

One example is player support telling us a lot of players on Switch and lower end PCs are experiencing the glider being invisible so it led to confusion, so we triaged it for fixing because the # of tickets kept increasing

I can't comment on like every domain/subject but that kind of bug got surfaced to me because a lot of players started reporting it

Another example is on lower end hardware, mining nodes were completely invisible so that makes for a really poor player experience for those players, but we needed some graphics engineering for that one so it can take a while to get to it

It's survivorship bias. At this point most of the people who wanted to give the game a chance have given up and are no longer sending in that feedback.

Surely there has to be some focus on what's causing people to leave, and that's going to take some internal reflection and extrapolation.

Truthfully, many people have stopped checking this thread, myself included. Hell, I don’t even interact with the server. I’ll pop by if I have a question, and sometimes that leads to nice catch up chats with folks, but other than that, I find it pointless (pointless in the sense of -I- gain nothing by checking it multiple times a day). I find it counterproductive to have the same conversation over and over and over again. I have better use of my time.

I have been conversing back and forth with Support about this since April of 2024. The 1st response I was told they would be sending it to the devs for further review (April 2024), 2nd response I was told it's still being worked on by the team but was now being "prioritized" (September 2024), 3rd response I was told they were forwarding my report to the devs again to help with their investigation and they could not give me an ETA for this issue's fix, but rest assured that this issue has already been acknowledged and that our specialists are now working on it (December 2024)

Yeah there's a big problem whenever there's something missing from the Inspiration system for any length of time, because people will craft everything in the set and then not be able to trigger inspiration again even after the bug is fixed.

When i checked the site, it said “brand manager” was the only open position. at the places i have worked, brand manager and CM could have a lot of overlap, but are also def different roles. i also noticed u have been showing up here way more often in the last few months. now appy is too. if that is what was meant by all the “we intend to communicate more with the player base”-type messages posted both here and in the dev blog… feels like having someones to manage it is the better approach.

not really expecting responses here from s6 anymore. do think they could benefit from looking at mods and/or regulars who are helpful 24/7 on here for the CM role tho. hope that registers for them.
