No, the link leads to the page that lets you become a tester (or leave the testing program). You can't apply for being a tester unless TGC sends out invites or someone leaves. The download problem appears to be common with Google, the only solution there seems to exist is patience. TGC can't change anything and Google won't change anything (but feel free to write to it, maybe you are more successful).

You don't have to leave the program as far as I know. You only have to download the game on Google Play once it realises you are a tester in the other link (which sadly doesn't happen to everyone immediately).

No, the link won't send another request. You can completely igore it if it says you are a tester (unless you manually leave). It's just the info that Google knows you want to test.

But basically the issue is: Phone 1 can download beta, Phone 2 can't download beta

Phone 2 has access to Live version and it plays well, so there isn't any explanation why it doesn't appear for Phone 2

Are they connected to the same Google account? Then, I can't help you other than with the troubleshooting steps in #beta-faq (or, you maybe could download it on one device, make a backup and then install the backup on the other device. However, be aware that this transfers all data.)

You can backup your device to Google Drive, for example if you want to change phones. That feature also backups the installed Apps and reinstalls them on the new device (by redownloading). So, in theory, this should send the app (plus everything else on your phone) to the other phone. Basically, your second phone will then have exactly the same data as the first one. Don't do this if you want the two of them to have different data/apps/etc!

For example, I recently had to send my phone to repair. To make sure I don't lose any data, I did a backup via Google Drive. When I got it again, I could reinstall the backup and my phone looked the same as before I sent it (including apps). This also works if you have two different devices.

One thing, I am not an official member of TGC or Google, so my knowledge is based on own experiences with the beta and my own devices. Anyways, this is getting off-topic, so maybe let's switch to dms if you want to continue discussing?

As I said, I can tell you only by my own experience, but the way I understood things, if you manage to download it via the backup, you should be able to update as well (since the backup does nothing but reinstall from Google Play Store).

This is completely thought of by myself, so it might be that there's a problem to all this since it is not exactly the same situation as I was in. I don't see any real problem, since the way uses only features that are officially supported by Google. The only issue there might be is that there is no way to only backup the Sky app, it will either transfer all data from your phone or none.

Adding more regarding this topic. Updating would be impossible. I've played PSCS before, and since it wasn't available in my country, I downloaded it from outside sources. When updates happened, it would never appear on the Play Store, even if it says that I had it installed. I had to update it outside the application.

There is a difference between the two cases: PSCS you seem to have installed not through Google Play Store while the Google Backup does install from there.

Situation is. My friend doesn't speak English but wants to participate in Beta aswell, same situation as Aoi earlier. So I was the one who joined the beta testing for her from a brand new email. I waited a while until a new wave opened and entered in it. On my device, phone1, it shows that it's a tester AND that I can download and update the Beta App through the Install PlayStore page, meanwhile my friend, phone2, on the Installing Play Store page shows that she is not a beta tester, but it appears on the link you sent earlier.

If you didn’t finish the spirit’s tree during the season you will need to unlock all missing items, plus blessings and AC lock.

I'm not sure why they felt that way, to be honest... But they felt like, too big? too many feathers? Too obvious/visible?I'll try to give an example, maybe it helps understanding what I mean. In my opinion, the spirit feathers felt like what a kid might do while playing, it finds a feather on the ground and is like, hey, let's put it in my hair so that I look nice. And the the ultimate gift feathers is, later, it dresses up as something, and remembers the feather in the hair that looked nice, so it takes feathers on purpose and puts them together so that it has a nice crown or so...
Notice this is a personal opinion, though, other people may and will disagree with it.

Iirc they decided to have only 1 color for seasonal candles so that they wouldn't use up time to make new assets for candles each season. Less time spent on small things like the color of every seasonal candle is more time for developing the season and bug fixing

Did you just forget your password, or your entire Apple ID? If just your password, you should be able to recover your account either by resetting your password, or in a worst case scenario, by getting in touch with Apple support.

If the entire ID has been forgotten (email, username, etc...), you might be out of luck. That said, you should be able to find your Apple ID in your old device settings menu, if you still have access to it. From there, password recovery would be the same as with above

If you need more information on this, Apple has released some pretty helpful guides on their support page

About eden: I spoke with several beta Skykids and (even in live) eden rock rain doesn't seem to be consistent. In one session my wings poof swiftly, in another I can light up all statues with ~130 wings. I didn't wear chibi mask, but as told before all sizes have the same hitbox iirc

I don't agree with all player heights having the same hitbox, considering that tall players are unable to perform the chibi fall and clearly have longer reach with burning plants when using red candles. Having said that, the Eden rain behaviour doesn't feel that consistent even while maintaining the same height, so I think there's significant variance being introduced by the rock scatter patterns and whether you're hit with a light or heavy rock

Support might be able to help you recover your account. I can't guarantee they will be able to, but I was told long ago they might be able to recover beta accounts. I just had my GF use the new moth account, since she didn't care about her old skykid's progress when she got a warranty replacement phone. (Didn't want to waste support's time with my ticket if she didn't care about recovery, pretty much)

I think it will be a lot time consuming to CR just using the SoF tunnels alone... since it takes a lot of flying(except hermit valley and prophecy caves where tunnel is close to the candle source). I think the SoF area can be used to CR only if you have a lot of extra time. May be use it to get to Ark in 30secs less than usual route that's it.

Apologies all, my question was vague!
I've been trying to find new routes to maximise efficiency of candle runs (for those times when I only have a spare 15-20 minutes and I don't have the time for a mellow run with friends). However, I keep getting lost (particularly finding the SoF tunnel in starlight desert) so my data is incredibly inconsistent (also, I haven't completed enchantment season in beta also, so the candles aren't there. ..and I am perhaps not the greatest of flyer's).

I was just curious if there were any other people out there who had tried leveraging the SoF circular route in collecting light only in the seasonal areas, but also using the SoF entrances as a starting point to running other realms?

At the moment I am playing around with starting GW from SoF tunnel entrance at ark and just running from there and sticking with the shorter boat cutscenes on the way back to the main area. Also, starting vault in the LP area is plausible.

It has been quite a faff flying back to the SoF tunnel once you're in the area (at least from the LP area and Sanctuary).

Anyhow, I just posted in here as I was just curious if anyone else had been experimenting and had found any efficient routes

The main thing I consistently use the wind path for is to bypass the boat ride to Forgotten Ark via either Hermit Valley or Starlight Desert. I don't find all of the connection points efficient, but the way I'll use it in live is probably also different to beta since I do a more full CR on live (beta, I'm cherrypicking wax-dense spots depending on how much I feel like running for the day). You'll need to have a fairly good idea of the layout and portal order though to actually make full use of it, which is why it's a good idea to ride the circuit a couple of times and note down the order of the realms relative to each other

Idk who asked it but i just remembered it, if you enter through a tunnel with a friend that hasn't done the quest to unlock that tunnel yet then as soon as you'll reach the wind paths your friend will get blown off from the winds. This was in the first few builds before the polish idk if it's still the same

For your sky ID in beta, the easiest thing is to link that account in game on your original device (to Gmail, Facebook, Nintendo, etc). From there, you can sign into that account on a new device with beta installed, using that account.
(Should be noted, this is not a way to link beta with live, beta and live are two separate programs)

If you don't have your original device with your original beta skid, you might be stuck with making a new moth skid for beta

here's a little fact, the green light used to not fly with the mantas above birds nest. i believe (might be wrong, its been over a year ) that it flew above butterfly fields, into birds nest, and then fell down. that was changed after a lot of testers bug reported it. its much easier to spot now

the case of the npc in home was fixed internally until a few days ago. by the time we can get that update to live, the mischief event will likely be over. but it will be fixed for next year. is it annoying and somewhat confusing? yes, but it doesn't stop anyone from going about their regular business in-game. it's not something that would hold up the entire release of a patch.

same for the hand hold fix, that wasn't fixed by engineering until late last week.

before we added switch to the platform offerings, these are things that we would potentially be able to issue a hotfix for for mobile players.

Over my time I've been here one thing I've learnt is that devs aren't allowed to share much detail about their work, which is understandable.

Just assume that for example while trying to fix a chat bug they stumbled upon a bigger and stronger bug - all players can see each others chat for example, or noone can see chats on other props but only the spots.

Though I am holding on to one bug that happened when I was with friends where, instead of seeing the cutscenes after I relived the Flight spirits, I got transported to other islands entirely and was forced to stare at my Sky kid until the amount of time the cutscenes would have lasted was over

that suggestion isn't mean to be dismissive, but that will be a consistent reality in a live-service game and the transition from beta to live. which something every tester personally needs to come to terms with. keep in mind it's usually 1, maybe 2 people working on an given bug. there are only so many hours in a day and so many working hours in a week, and often still require hours of working extra days, weekends, nights to get fixes out. and no "just hire more people" is not the easy solution many people chalk it up to be, although we are always looking for more good people to help us grow and put out fixes sooner. it can take 6 months to a year to get new folks up to the same speed as current devs.

game dev is extremely complex software development.

If you're new to sky in general I wouldn't recommend getting into beta. Explore the base game a bit while you wait for the invites. Beta is for testing and is very broken.

Grab the beta invites role from #beta-faq and wait till the invites happen again. That is the only way of getting into beta.

I'm late to the convo, but case in point: we didn't get coloured trail spells in beta, but they're in the Flight spirits' trees in Live. Beta was never meant as early access, hence the fact they are two separate apps also. Beta players keep stressing the "subject to change", because we want to avoid confusion and disappointment. People take the tiniest change in beta as gospel truth sometimes, when it is often in just a very early testing stage.

To reiterate, this is a hotfix candidate, so there are minimal changes to help expedite this to Live. all 15.5 fixes and features aren't included yet. It doesn't cover all the stuff in #known-issues just the more critical things like crashes and regular gameplay interruptions.

We don't know exactly what the threshold is for being considered inactive, but I have gone a couple of weeks before without opening the beta app when there's nothing new going on and I haven't been kicked. I think you'll be fine

If it helps, Gmail and Nintendo sign in worked for me, still. (I think Ninty sign in only worked since my account has both gmail and Ninty linked to it)

there's a very specific case where anyone would get the game data is corrupt message, but it shouldn't be impacting account verification with linked third party accounts, so ensuring there isn't something happening that shouldn't be.

at best, we need to kick the jukebox to make sure the servers are communicating with authentication servers. at worst, one of those third party platforms is having issues (e.g. facebook on monday) which is a waiting game for connections to be reestablished.

Ah, okay, understandable. While you're here, is the image in screenshots supposed to happen? It is cute in some circumstances, but can be an awkward situation in others. To note, we didn't move when warping home and our skykids went into that pose.

It happens every time we warp home. We didn't notice until recently since we usually bug carry to stay when warping home, but we were testing handhold last night and saw this.

the nontrivial height discrepancy is likely a contributing factor, if you were the same height, it might just smoosh faces together. but since it's taking place only when you warp home, you both are landing in the same position, so your avatars are colliding in a way that they normally can't (e.g. try walking through another player, you can't) kinda like terrain meshes z-fighting but on more than one plane.

That makes sense. It is cute, but I can see in some situations, it would be an awkward position to be in.

see how your feet are in the same spot? couple that with the idle looking at other players/npcs that shifts the avatar's gaze creates this very in-your-face experience for a brief time until one or both of the avatars involved move.

i suppose, but like.. it's not real people smashingtheir faces together, it's just a spawning issue in a shared lobby. even if we added multiple spawning points the chance for something like this to occur would still be possible.

True, even now, it seems to only happen 3/5 times. the other 2/5 one of our skykids bump away and we're in different positions to prevent this pose.

it would be a nontrivial amount of work and would genuinely mean more significant things would be delayed or scrapped entirely.

We do our best to solve for the majority of situations/circumstances but sometimes the last 5% of a non-game breaking bug is not a priority reallocation of resources. That doesn't mean it will never get fixed, it just means there are more important bug fixes ahead of it.

I almost always get that happening if I get reborn along with a friend after an Eden run, but it always struck me as a minor thing that's easily dealt with by just immediately taking a couple of steps so you're not quantum-merging on top of each other

I personally haven't had an issue with the update. I would suggest keeping up to date and if you have an issue authenticating, fill out a bug report with as much information as you can. I.E. sign in method, OS version, device model, etc.

I recommend double checking that your Testflight/Google Play Games apps are up to date, download Sky Beta from Official sources such as Google or Apple. Do the usual rounds of clear cache/data, make sure your device has enough storage, etc. redownload the app if you need to, and that should resolve any false positives.

For all we know, it could be a version of Google Play Services that Google de-auth'd that caused some users the issue. Google does do that for security reasons when certain version's security has been compromised.

Interesting, I encountered the "Game data corrupt, please reinstall" message on my Pixel 2 before update and update fixed this small hiccup. I checked with my Pixel 5 and it didn't show such a message even before updating.

Maybe during the update, other Google Services updated in the background? I know with Pixels G Play services updates randomly in the background, so your Pixel 2 could have been on an older version.

Sadly, Pixel Experience OS, there is no way to turn off G Play services auto update, it just does it whenever you have free CPU cycles.
