Yes, I think it should work that way for beta also. At least for iOS.

Beta is known for being buggy and some updates have caused overheating. But as long as you’re observant of that (and keep bug reporting it!), you should be fine.

I think i got 18,5 candle yesterday after an almost full run except dreams and eden. I didn’t do Dreams cause i wanted to see how much sunday wasteland gives in beta if i do it last compared to live, which was around 1,5 candle all together (including both big plants).

I didn’t tap on the candle in the meantime cause it annoys me to see the rapidly dropping effectivity, so I don’t know how much did i get for the races specifically. And if you mean, if they’ll get converted into seasonal candles in live - beta and live are both separate apps, and they are not linked in any way, so you’ll start the season from the very beginning in live once it comes. Unlessss you meant something entirely different, then feel free to further explain please

The season of dreams candles-wise will work just the way all the previous seasons have; you’ll collect the seasonal candles by doing quests and collecting seasonal wax from one of the realms. No need to worry about your regular candles, they’ll stay with you as they are (unless you spend them on whatever of course ww)

I really love how the village is the area we see when we’re sliding down the slide part to the stadium in the races... like it ties the two together so well.. valley just used to be the Olympic stadium... but even cities that host the olympics have residential areas around it

ok wow I have done a lot of testing today, here is today's finding for the new candle rate (let's call it rate v2 and the rate v1 for couple days ago)

1. Nothing has changed IF you forge your candle immediately. It remains rate v1 as follow:
   Chevron 3: 75wax
   Chevron 2: 150 wax
   Chevron 1: 300 wax
   Chevron 0: unknown(probably 600)
   Valley Race gives 150 wax

2. Rate v2 applies when you have a red dot on your candle meter and not forging the candle !!!This is a bug!!! Rate v2 is a lot faster than v1 but it runs only in background. The exact rate is unable to test since I can't see its progress

3. Valley Race gives EXACTLY 1 candle, even at Chev 0 (equivalent of a lot of wax). This is very likely to be a bug and unintended

Not quite. Couple days ago the candle rate is extremely slow after the 10th candle. They changed the rate now but here's are the new bugs:

1. The new rate only applies when you don't forge the candle

2. Valley race gives 1 exact candle at all chevron level

So yes! Not forging the candle (keeping the red dot) WILL make more candle but not in the way you think it is. It is a bug and it doesn't appear in the previous version. The chevron meter works fine.

#beta-faq has a lot of info about beta. It also mentions that in app purchases are free for testing purposes, but there are no candle packs in the store. We have to play the rest of the game like normal players.

My best advice is to try and think how a newer, less experienced player would experience things. I know work arounds for some issues, but that shouldn't be necessary if everything is working properly.

see, this is the kind of thing that I wouldn't notice or consider a bug if someone hadn't pointed it out to me. There's so many involuntary camera angle changes and places where you can't control your character in sky that it seems nothing out of the ordinary

That's a very good thing to put in feedback. I am unsure if those scenes are hard coded and therefore not possible to skip, but for a seasoned player they tend to be more annoying than amazing after the umptenth time.

During the season's testing, things often get shuffled around from AP to free to AP - though I don't remember on the top of my head any examples of that. That's more likely to happen for seasons rather than events

If you're unsure, you can always wait until the season goes live- then you can be sure of what's AP locked and what's not, and the 10 candles from pre-order won't be a big deal in the long run

Its a nice idea. Its like other apps that encourage you to take breaks for mental health. For me personally and I would guess a majority of players. I don’t play Sky to get me to take breaks. A quick candle run can be very rewarding when I had a busy day, with the new system. If I would be forced to take those breaks in between it would feel very demotivating. Even controlling to be honest. edit: Playing Sky itself feels like a break to me especially with the new candle system and also have time left to learn play instruments or hang out/help others

Your idea is a good idea but weighing everything up I think theirs a line when it comes to how fast you should be able to farm , encouraging people to take breaks should not be up to the game to do - that’s what I think ,
at some point peoples time needs to pay for items ,I think that giving the first 30 minutes of playing faster forging is enough ...I myself will stop buying ap if it gets made too easy ... I’m all for a good balance between players ,time and money and I think always those who pay should be rewarded more for sure - but a balance between time and the cost of items needs to be right ...people who pay work for their money so it’s only right people who play free work for their candles .. that’s just me ..theirs a thin line between encouraging people to take breaks and encouraging laziness...(don’t mean to sound harsh,sorry in advance)🤍🕊️🤍

Late reply, but people should not be doing this. The beta channels are not a place for people to beg beta testers for spoilers or to do something specific for them. They can wait for the season to go live to try things on in the closet or scroll through the screenshots channel themselves

Farming is also made easier for players who pay for AP/items like me personally. Its for players who don’t have time for full candle runs. Its been said before: TGC data shows that a mayority of the players don’t collect FREE candles above 10. I think the non paying players will have it just as hard because they are most likely full candle runners and a full candle run takes just as much time as current system in Live. Also because TS and/or in game currency items are very high in candle prizes. Personally I dont mind the work for items and pay for items system without AP lock. But ofcourse there are also players that pay that do mind items not having AP lock and that is valid on its own too.

Progress can also be wiped or reverted at any time if TGC deems it necessary for testing purposes

I think Zero mentioned it yesterday that not clicking on the candle to forge will have a different forging rate than if we do click and collect. We tried it today, and with the 2 different method we could only get around 16 candle. Also tried the races with low chevrons and they gave one whole candle each.
I like the idea of the new system, but don’t like the execution personally. I noticed on myself that I’m way less motivated to stay playing and check out the other realms after I’m over the effective forging rate (even after a new update). I’m less willing to offer friends, who just just joined me to do a map which both of us needs, and we talk on discord more instead of playing and talking. It’s definitely interesting to see how ppl with different playing styles have totally different opinions about the system tho.

Yep , that was my first thought on the whole system situation , then I think about the ones who don’t have the time at all to candle run or socialize ... so I think in the long run it will be a great system as it really don’t effect anyone in a bad way (their will always be some of course) and it really does help those who really needed it ... Could the devs mean something with the forge issue? It might be a stretch but for a full candle runner forging at a lower chevron is demotivating. So its better to not forge. So are the trying to cut out forging with the way its implemented now in beta?

Uhh good question. I somehow got 18 candles 2 days ago with no forging in between, but we got 16-16 with both forging and not forging method today. Plus we didn’t have double cakes 2 days ago, now we had. I've always been careful to forge as often as possible because of the constant reporting of how inconsistent the forging is for some people, especially with shoddy internet connections.

I don't have much to contribute except that unless I am with Pakka's group as well I don't do anything even remotely near a proper cr in beta. That being said, as it was pointed out, the data and time expectation might be one thing, but the feeling and experience are what are being sought in feedback. And so far my experience is that when the cr gets long in the tooth and the chevron get low, it does phase me and my cr feels like walking through wet cement.

And that’s also a totally valid point, not having the time to do full runs, but having a nice amount without the feeling of missing out. That’s why i said i like the idea of the new system. What I don’t like is the execution, the way it makes some of those who do full runs feel less motivated and bad to the point they have to trick themselves with not clicking on the candle to forge if they want avoid this.
In live i only do a few maps, so i see the good side too, it’s just not there yet for me personally.

I haven't been able to full cr properly in beta for a while because school
But so far, I think the chevron system is pretty neat.
I usually only forge my candle all at once after a full run, so the slow progression of Chevron 1 doesn't really affect me. That being said, I do have a little concern that the new system will sprout laziness to some players. Don't get me wrong, It's great especially when you're busy. However, I'm that type of player who put Vault and Isle on "low priority" list because they lack wax and doesn't feel as rewarding. (Aka. skipping them)
My concern is with the players with habit of forging candle everytime they fill up, it may be a miniscule difference of behavior, but it could affect the feelings significantly.

I do notice the meter takes longer to process and I'm not sure if it will affect the wax count. Especially when moving to different area while the wax count is still processing.

as much as i like the idea of the chevron system benefiting friends who can't do full candle runs, i'm finding the uncertainty of how many more candles i can earn to be pretty inconvenient; i don't really pay attention to my candle count at the start of the day, so now i can't really get a grasp of how many more candles i can earn from any given realm in the middle of a run -- i don't feel like i'm getting enough information to decide when i might want to stop without farming all the realms, especially since there's a real number you have to farm to keep up with travelling spirits

I'm LUCKY I joined before TS even started and was only missing 3 seasons. I have 100% of the base game completed (in live) and basically only get candles now to upgrade friends and catch up on TS I hadn't bought everything from the first time

I usually measure how much i've done by the realms and knowing how much those give (in old system). It's hard to plan with the new system. What i know if u do waste last (if u did ark before) on sunday it's around 1,5 candle. Races still give 1-1 candle not dependent of chevron level.

There are 2 potential problems that nobody talks about yet

1. Instead of the exact wax amount, the ratio of the candle meter will carry onto the next day. If I have 200 wax and it makes up only half of a candle, most of the wax will be wasted when the chevron level reset to 3.

2. Every extra wax added in the future will have a decreased value compared to any new wax added in the current live candle system.

The thing is i did the races at the very last(after all chevrons removed) and still got 2 extra candles but when i did cr by doing race before, i got extra candles but my chevron fell below then and so at the end i ended with 16 candles

So I just tried to do a full cr to see if it’s any faster than in live and it’s not. I was under the impression that it would take 30-40 minutes to do a full candle run instead of 2 hours and now I’m a little disappointed but I’ll try to give feedback 😊

The whole point of the system is that you get more candles at the start and less at the end. So you still get the same amount of candles but players with busy schedules dont have to waste all day farming

bear hug Lv1 is accessible to everyone without needing to do the spirit provided you've unlocked the friendship tree high enough -- it's the Lv2 bear hug that requires completing the spirit to unlock (similar to the way that piggyback, hair tousle and play fight behave as well)

Does anyone realise all the Sky events nowadays is based on selling you cosmetics instead of letting you having more interactions? As much as we spend on IAPs and candle running for the TS, we truly need an event that lets us take a break from candle running if TGC has been saying they take socialising as seriously as the cosmetics and seasons. Im losing the fun of entering Sky when i hv spend hours in cr in this month despite its Christmas month.

It's just my opinion, but i really wanted to say i feel stressed this Christmas instead of fun as a collector this month. I still manage to farm enough for everything but the progress is not as merry as the coming festive as most of my free times have been spent on candle running to meet the amount of items and their costs.

Traveling spirits in beta have different scheduling than in live, and have no bearing on future traveling spirits.
Check #news for announcements and save up your candles!

Christmas time is a time where special items are a thing. Everywhere. You don’t have to buy anything or get anything from in game currency. TS is on a fixed schedule. Same as event items, you are not required to get anything from TS. It will even come back eventually to get items from TS another time. The thing is players get FOMO and want everything. But do you really need everything. Pricing is also a system to prefend the cheap/get everything but its junk or not what you need like in other games. TGC invests in items that are worth it. Besides that you can’t fault a game company to make money in this time of year or having an option between free and IAP because thats how it works. The new candle system wil make it easier to candle run. But as a player you still have to make choices. You don’t get everything you want or wish in real life too. Not meant to be harsh, i can understand the candle runs are much work and christmas time is overwhelming. But its not the game’s fault

About the christmas table. If you are in Sky with friends. Build friendships to chat and light each other’s capes. You don’t need the table. So you can hang out and socialize and don’t worry about candle running to get 150 candles

What im trying to say is , seasons and TSs have been needing alot of cr. Then when event comes, its supposed to feel fun , either to provide the players with good bargains or time-limited fun mechanics. Instead, besides ice rink, the only event features are the items that are super expensive to many. Imagine ure a moth and the only thing u get out of the Christmas event is an ice rink for them to skate. When was the last time you felt an event is made for you, instead of focusing merely on selling you items?

I started playing last winter. I didnt get everything. Now im what is called a veteran. I have a lot of candles left after i bought all the in game currency items. My second TS was the one with the umbrella. I didnt have enough candles to get it. A few weeks ago I did. In this time you get a lot of extra wax and as a moth you are very excited usually so you play more and get more candles. As a moth you even get a candle for every spirit you get. Every event is made to have something for everyone in Sky as I see it. And it would be awesome for someone to be happy with just a free icerink and have fun skating around with friends. Because that’s what life is about. Edit: Office is also christmasy and accessible for everyone not just the icerink

As much as I love cosmetics, I wish there's events that focus on something else. Every holiday it's the same, office is open, there's some decorations, and new cosmetics (usually IAP)

There is always a choice between in game currency and IAP. Sky realms are designed to have a unique world feel that is not like real life. So i think that is why realms are never decorated

And as big events we have seasons that are always evolving in realms

Yes , easier said than done. When an event is 80% about the items. And old players basically are trying to find new things to do in Sky coz the realms are obviously tedious if uve been playing for a year.

Yes, its the mechanics for grindinh wax that makes candle running a boring routine. Wish we can get wax through interactions or social events that we can grow bonds with friends while getting our candles for items

events revolve around a holiday (or something related to holidays) like christmas, halloween, valentine’s day, etc. festive quests would be nice and seasonal quests are a lot different than what they’re suggesting

Not all events tho, some events need a dynamic if it wouldn't be too boring
But yeah it would be great if we had time to just relax and in that relax time we didn't have to worry about missing something lol

Right now, the events, the daily quests, even the season is really monotonous. Yes, in the beginning of season everything is exciting. but by 2 weeks, it's just completing seasonal quest/seasonal CR.
