The Greydwarf performs these functions: Keeps the breeders together (but free to walk to food), keeps the offspring away from the breeders (so they fall down to the ground level), keeps the ground level offspring away from the smoke, forces the ground level adults to walk in to the smoke and be culled

In the free range version (usually Lox & Wolves) they just run out of the breeding area and roam the countryside

It is hard to show the whole journey in a video and keep it interesting. The piggies are born, fall down, run around and then are forced to stand in the smoke when they become adults. Even just that part takes a while to happen, but there is nothing random about what they all do.

Well this was the hardest one, I wasn't sure I could make it work at all. Originally I wanted to use a wild Wolf to control and cull the Boar becuase then the tame Wolves wouldn't be drawn to it. Turns out even though tame Wolves aren't alerted at all to the wild Wolf they don't breed with it in range

The Boar breeder with auto cull is very simple. Wood construction only. No special snapping. No special feed placement. The 4m height makes it easy to enclose.

One of my worlds uses 2* wolves also, I was trying out a new design on another world using puffer fish mounted on stands, and it's working very good. And I don't have to feed the wolves.

I raised the earth under the nest to the maximum and chiseled off the edges from the bottom so that it forms a sharp point. There's no edges for the Greydwarves to catch on so they spawn and fall down. Looks weird but it works, the Lox never try to stack up against the earth spire to reach the nest.

Then you can use the battering ram on the door to the keep and it shoudlnt break the bell container

The trick is to not push the battering ram all the way to the door, since if you do that it will probably hit the glass inside too

Alright, I haven't played one of these games before and I'm finding my feet.
With Heim I want to try all the weapons and I like learning their move set and uses. I get that this probably isnt so much about switching between weapons though I'm aware you can do that, but am I supposed to be doing that? Of course, being locked behind stat requirements is somewhat limiting.

I did what everyone does and picked Sumari which I know only affects your starting gear and first few levels, so I have the katana.

Absolutely, definitely try out different weapons to find something that fits your style! As far as being locked behind stats- I wouldn’t stress it too much. If you want to try it out, it’s worth the investment. Of course, when the numbers get especially demanding, that’s when it becomes a bit more concerning.

40 is a pretty solid number, you’ll get a lot of levels if you just explore and take on challenges. If you’re not engaging in the multiplayer aspect, nothing wrong with just getting levels whenever.

My first couple of hours was throwing myself at that first enemy camp again and again until I had the basics of combat down. Genuinley a good time.

Limgrave is an amazing first area, but yeah it’s not unusual for ‘pros’ to move onto new areas quickly.

My advice if you’re new, stay in limgrave and explore around, there’s alot to learn and find. Don’t be afraid to die, and losing runes isn’t the end of the world, so don’t let it get you down.

Yep, your character can’t really regress, you only lose progress to the next level! Similar to Valheim, make sure you master managing your stamina and know the price of your actions and know when you need to slow down and focus on regen.

Yes, like all previous content patches too. Any possible new POIs are generated when you start it and found in unexplored areas. Any possible new mobs will spawn in the biomes they are meant to spawn, also in already explored areas.

When having a full inventory you mean? I guess prior to getting Megingjord, minmaxing the amount of things I can carry on the black forest to get bronze, I haven't got past the plains yet so I wouldn't know how things work in the mistlands like someone mentioned above.

Plus, at the time I didn't make roads for the cart, which was something I started implementing later on xD

Yeah, that's true to a certain degree. I think the majority have a gripe with the convenience of it all. People like to carry portal mats and such, plus, with the content that has released over time, there has of course been more equipment and such to carry. I could see them adding a separate tab for armor, but we'll see what they decide to do with it.

Yes, as long as all players are using the Steam version of the game. You will want to disable Crossplay, then you'll be able to connect directly, including via the loopback IP (e.g. 127.0…) if on the same PC or Mac or via the LAN IP (e.g. 192.168…) if on the same LAN.

If you need players to be able to also connect from over the Internet, you'll have to set up UDP port forwarding over your NAT in your router's configuration. This is not neccessary if everyone is in the LAN though.

Note when using loopback and LAN IP addresses, you won't get the status indicator or server metadata overlay in the Servers views. This is fine and won't affect connectivity.

The quick answer is that's how Steamworks matchmaking and Valheim works. The built-in query port only responds to A2S queries when the server is public (Steamworks lib quirk), and on the Valheim side, it has to use something to match up with public lobbies that Valve told it about, so it uses the IP addresses received from Valve to match against what you're entering to see if there's a match it can use for metadata display.

It would be nice if there's a Valheim-native way to convey metadata from an entered server directly outside of Steamworks or Playfab.

Yep, it did, it disconnected the ashlands land from other biomes for example. And for parts of ashlands you previously explored the terrain changed too but it is still very empty and without the stuff normally generated ashlands have. 🙂

so let me get this straight... bears:

• have meat that
  • tame wolves will not eat... but i am supposed to eat?
  • is only useful cooked on a fire, for a very mediocre early game food, with zero other recipes, not even a 3rd jerky (which would be USEFUL)
• have hide that
  • doesnt have a corresponding rug(doh: got bored before i got a trophy) , or any other buildpiece...nothing
• looks like a crackhead
  • why break from the theme were animals look mostly like animals, and go straight for trashpanda-cocainebear hybrid?
• has accessories
  • that seem to lean towards slightly overpowered,....buuuut
  • with fractional resistances/weaknesses... because FiNe TuNiNg?
  • seem somewhat out of theme, and more like one of those lame MaXiMuMArMouRMaGicMonStErS mods.
    ... at least the odinBear mod had a set of armor that was upgradeable from meadows through to endgame. Nobody I know disliked that at all. Yet all the same things that were bad about the mod are also lame on vanilla crackbear.
    Son, I am disappoint.

Meat is great early game, replaces the stuff you need a cauldron for. Wolves aren't early game, and I doubt you'd have surplus bear meat by the time you tame wolves.
Hide is used for the new set, it is upgradeable. Bear isn't a meadows enemy, it's BF, so dunno why you mentioned meadows other than for some mod.
Looks like any mob, blends in with the environment, hard to spot which imo is fun.
Coulda given this feedback in PTB, now it's live and too late

Idk, I think bear meat is fantastic 👀
It can be a budget minced meat sauce (not exactly same stats by the way, it has slightly lower HP regen).
It can be used in addition to the minced meat,
It softens the blow slightly on taking fish away from us in BF tier

Reporting someone here won't help much, as Valheim doesn't own any MP servers.

The only things you can do is making certain the password is actually given to only those you know. That way no-one but those having the right permission can enter your game.
The other thing you can do is banning that player.

the issue I would have with a drawbridge, is that it need to have either ropes or chains so it isn't just a "door" opening and closing. so the entire thing would have to be a moving piece / unit

Well, if it's chains, it would be something you unlock with swamp tier.
Which would suit well with the stone cutter being unlocked at that same biome.

For ropes, you either need to add a new material in one of the earlier biomes or use Flax.
Which means the draw bridge would unlock in plains, and another material would be Dark wood.

But I'm afraid it'll "unlock" two complaints right away.

1. why not unlock earlier and using chains instead of flax. Or why not get something to craft rope from in Meadows or BF.

2. If we use Dark wood for drawbridges, why not use something that's water resistant for the other woods.

Also the length of it would be at least 3/4th of the width of a Longboat, so that one can pass through the bridge and leave some space.

You won't need a cog, as lots of draw bridges were operated with a counterweight and a pull chain. As a matter of fact, in Amsterdam there's still bridges operated that way.

But a Cog may be useful for an upgraded version, if / when they are added.
