#nms-questions has a fatal flaw in which most people who are knowledgable are usually in #no-mans-sky and not in help until they need help.
I suggest that Gunter or another bot logs questions and and reliable answers to them if this is possible so that faqs for newer updates can be answered for players who are new or newer to discord itself and aren’t on when someone is there to answer questions. Or to have a role that gets notified when a question is asked.
Add a multi-tool hunting channel!
Could stuff like expeditions be added on the discord server's event tab?
Yep! We have an Expeditions channel that will be opened for posting when it goes live.
That's on our roundtable list, to judge if the activity will warrant a dedicated channel, like #nms-base-building is now.
Nice!
Add a “game suggestions” channel for those who can’t find the website.
Add an advertising channel
#content-creator-corner #archived-nms-communities to promote your NMS related content, see pins in those channels for more info.
👍 oh sorry, thanks I did not see those
Remove the #nms-questions channel. People can just use google, and some people will be rude to you for not using google for some questions :/
If you have a negative experience in the help channel, please ping or dm moderators or use our !ModHelp command for assistance.
suggestion: glyph emoticons for those of us who cannot take screenies easily.
we do have them. you can also use the !coords command which can output them for you to do an easy copy-paste. i recommend adding /noembed when running it on mobile, for easier copy-paste.
can run it in #bot-spam to play with it.

On the “how to get nanites”. Method 2 has an outdated guide and the original video author made a newer guide with newer coordinates here: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=lIXjG2_G2aA
I’ve also noticed the Endurance update broke all of the first waves except for the Tri Wing which has gate coordinates of Bird, Sun, Sun, Waypoint, Triforce, Galaxy, Rocket, Moon, Waypoint, Galaxy, Whale, Tepee.
It seems newer updates break the optimal way for this method and mess with the spawns. Hopefully this’ll help people and keep this method alive
Ty for the feedback, Ghost. I'll update the link to make sure that's up to date. Pertaining the concern of all first waves being broken, is that referring to the first waves mentioned in the video? Or did you mean "all waves" game-wide?
The waves mentioned in the updated video are broken except for the tri wing that I gave coordinates for. I looked into it more and with the newest update recently… it seems to have changed the spawns of first waves/broken some of those spawns. The YouTube comments combined with the Reddit have multiple people confirming this. I’m not sure why that’s a thing, but that’s kinda the best we’ve got at the moment
There's been a steady-ish number of folk requesting people to help them build bases in #nms-base-building.
I'd like to formally suggest a new command similar to that of hub rides where server members may request some help to build a base with an interested builder accepting the request.
I like the concept, we need to find some builders interested in doing that...I'm going to reach out to a couple builder guilds and see if they would be interested in cooperation.
I would like to request an icon with game mode roles. Like
For example Interloper G
Reason to ask...so that if ppl want to join me they know what game mode i am on without having to type everytime.
And it should be self assigned and changeable. And one role at a time as i know ppl play on different save but can play on one save at a time.
I don't know what that means. But i tried to explain what was in my mind.
If a person can have multiple icons... then even better....so other person knows...if they can play together.
Like
Interlooper G

you can't have multiple icons showing next to your name. just not possible with how role icons work.
You can’t actually, the higher one will replace the lower one
adding the icons isn't enough in that roles would need to be re-ordered for an icon to show above another. so if you for instance, who have the rainbow sky role, which takes priority above most other roles except NMEGG, you'd never show your game mode icon.
Both of you need to scroll up...i did say that.... 😑
prioritizing role order/icon order at a server level becomes problematic depending on which icon/role you're talking about.
because some folks choose their game mode, not because of the icon they want to show off next to their name. they may want the expedition icon to show that off instead.
or in the case of rainbow sky (or any sky contest heart), they may want that showing.
Creative<normal<survival<permadeath
Yeah kinda true though, there is a strict hierarchy and stuff in roles after all
exactly. you're bound to have someone that will complain about the hierarchy and which icon they want showing.
Okay...yeah there should be some way for ppl know...thats all i wanted...
Like color for example....i am robust....blue....what that means..... 🤔....i suppose it would be better if my name was displayed in a color that represents game mode....
It could be a little star mark like most advertising companies do
50% OFF*
Just to type a microscopic condition apply somewhere.
Something similar....for game mode like survival or permadeath...as very less ppl play that...and that star icon can act as a heads-up that other may not be on the normal save.
With role color, it's the same issue we have with role hierarchy that I mentioned before. Moreover, you must keep in mind that some players select multiple game mode roles because some of us still play across all. So the best or most ideal time/place for someone to specify their game mode is really at time of joining another player (for LFG, trading, catching a ride, etc). Which is something we'll try to address/improve with an LFG / NMS Communities channel revamp. We'll take your concern into consideration. But as I mentioned pertaining role colors or icons, for the existing game mode roles we have, server-wide role hierarchy presents a huge obstacle for that concept to work in practice with the current setup we have for our highest hierarchy roles -- i.e., screenshot competition roles, Top Gek (which is XP level based), NMEGG title (with an optional Atlas Emissary icon if applicable) and staff members.
PLEASE do a channel for exchanging glyphs!PLEASE!!!
#explorers-archive ? you can read the pins there for info on post requirements
👍
Surival/normal separation?
Have Gunter display a random hub base in #nmscord-hub every so often and similarly a random base in general in #nms-base-building
a post area for people to put up ads for like making their base or something in, I have been seeing a lot asking for someone to build/help make their base

i meant like just normal memes and anyone can post pictures as long as they aren't nsfw for any purpose
There is a memes channel, you just can't access it yet.
Nah
I like this, will bring up.
Can the different game modes for NMS have priority colors to make it easier to see? So few people on permadeath so would make it easier to tell if someone is asking for help not on normal (example I myself only keep saves for permadeath)
Sounds great in theory. Unfortunately, with Discord's role hierarchy and the way some people play cross-modes, the idea is a bit complex in practice. Please see this comment above which tries to explain the issue in greater detail: <#discord-server-feedback message>
I think it would be great, if you could select your spoken languages in the #roles channel. In this way, every Member on the Server could see immediately, how to communicate with you 😄
So you want approximately 6500 roles added?
Sounds good to me
Lol
Include klingon please
Ofc
No i mean the most common ones. Theoretically you can make a post, where everybody can react with their languages (with the Flag of their country). this way you know, which languages you need to add. I think it won´t be that much XD If its too much for you afterwards you can still end it then ^^
At this point in time, we won't be adding any languages to the roles. People will inevitably be left out - you can always put your countries flag in your user nickname for the server.
okay. but thanks for the fast reply 🙂
roles for the in-game races, like a role for gek, vy’keen, and korvax and stuff? maybe roles for traveler and anomaly?
Suggestion: seeing how many folks ask for Hospitality milestone help for the expedition, would it make sense to make a service similar to Hub taxi but for this instead?
Player A requests a freighter to visit, player B accepts the request and they proceed. Though I'm not sure if worth all the trouble for a command that's gonna be used for the next month or so
While I can see the good intentions behind it, it might cause a problem where people start to think they can talk in their native language here. That will inevitably cause a mess, adding frustration to players and extra work to staff having to remind them to talk in English
Also, try moderating a bunch of different languages and watch out for slurs / insults / other inappropriate content
Rename #nms-the-future to nms-suggestions
It's not just for suggestions.
it'd be misleading tbh since that channel's just for discussions on ideas members want to run by the community. we recommend actual NMS suggestions be sent to HG via their Zendesk. helpful links below...

great idea FriendlyFire. unfortunately, we've had a lot of feature requests and limited time and resources. moreover, since this Expedition is out for a limited time, and that's a unique milestone case for this expedition, i'm not sure we'd have something like that ready / available before this expo ends. we'll try to improve things with the LFG channels' revamp that will hopefully help with this type of request in the future
Multi tool share chat for pics and conversation ect.
As cool as AI art is I feel it's massively cheating and pushing the artists putting in a real effort out of the way, I see some great AI art that is swamping and surrounding "real" art here in #no-mans-art .
Can you please restrict or completely ban it or do something?
I've brought it up with Red, we will chat about it when she gets up later.
This is on the list for the next roundtable - a temporary channel to gauge overall interest in different categories.
Awesome
Thank you. I tried to word it so AI art wasn't being discredited. ❤️
Feedback looking positive, thanks again.
As in a cool down or daily limit @vernal ore ? Just curious I have memes hidden lol
More of something to meet.
There’s never that many.
Like 100 week.
I mean there should be 100 a week.
Ok no. This channel is for legit suggestions, that's not happening.
I wasn’t joking.
But ok.
It can only be taken as a joke, since there isn't a means to enforce that.
Alright, but you missed the perfect opportunity for a joke.
As Gleam told you, this channel is for serious suggestions for this server. Read the pins for rules.
It would be nice to have a channel for portal glyphs and coords (i am not in the knowledge of the existence of a channel for this subject)
Pardon me for my poor choice of vocabulary
Of course, if there is any inconvenience i will reinforce my vocabulary range
Have you checked #explorers-archive? Check the pins for info on what it is and guidelines for posting there.
I haven't yet. I never went there. I never actually visited the whole server 😅
Well, looks like i've got lots of exploring to do
nms language letters emotes? the ones from posters.
Can try running the command I'll post below, in #bot-spam if it helps

A channel for sharing pictures of IRL pets would be nice, so i can share my pupper, and twinky cat, and just discuss that sorta thing
we totally welcome and enjoy those in #off-topic-bond-james-bond
please post away
thanks
. but discord server dosent support these symbols. when i copy paste it, letters are in english.
you're welcome to share your lovely music in #other-games

Suggestion: make it so that "!time" command can't be run outside of #bot-spam channel
Apologies for my recent ping to the moderators first of all, my bad, I thought it was a legit ping for the kind of request.
Can we get this table pinned in #nms-questions or added as a bot command that everyone can use?
#nms-questions message
It gets asked on a daily basis, multiple times a day sometimes, and it's really not convenient for the regulars having to hunt it down, or type the reply manually, or wait for the few players that have access to the custom command when they try and help others about what's probably the grindiest feature of the game as of right now.
Yes
Pinned, thanks
lovely, thank you very much
Hi, can we get a new command for explaining how to get glyphs? Me, BK, and Papaya were thinking something like !faq-glyphs gives the following (copied from BK's personal command):
a) Through the main storyline, mission named The Purge: perform 16 warps in any direction, to any system (despite what the quest objective says)
b) Find travelers in inhabited star systems, and for 100 nanites, ask them where they came from.
This will add a HUD marker to a grave location on one of the planets in the system: follow it and interact with the grave to obtain the next glyph.```
In addition, `!faq-portals` also probably could use an addition that describes how to use the glyphs when you get to the portal. LMK if yall want some text to put in.
there is one
#roles-information message
ok, where?
aidanlock pointed you to the link showing there is a role. if you're looking to reach out to modders, you can post questions in our #nms-modding channel.
Thank you for the suggestion aidan
@spice crypt and I will follow up on this
Could we get a Channel for NMS VR? I'm not sure, but from what I have read. Seems like there are some differences in game play. Maybe mostly movement. I don't have VR yet. But I don't want to distract from another channel asking and typing about VR as many do not have it or care.
No, we have like 30 people playing VR. Not enough activity to warrant a channel
No, I linked you to it for no reason
That was semi rude, so I apologize. Yes it's going to happen.
But if you build it... they will come.
Plus, I'm thinking proactively.
When the PSVR2, Apple's VR, the new Quest VR etc..
and with NMS upgrading the VR aspects of the game also...... Read where I'm going with this? LOL
So, how many travelers have to use VR to warrant a channel?
I doubt we will ever do a VR channel. Same reason we don't do an Xbox channel, or a Steam channel.
There also won't be an Apple channel, or a Switch channel
I agree with Gleam, just wouldn't be worth it. It's still the exact same game, just with VR 🤷♂️
If theres a VR channel I want a secret steam deck channel 🧐
Ok. I get it.
So it's ok to keep typing about VR in #no-mans-sky and #nms-questions ?
I know I'm going to have comments and questions once I get a headset. I tried it out the other day... and was lost!! Controls were totally different.
Yes those channels are for NMS, regardless of platform
hi im back lol sorry for constantly bothering y’all. I was just wondering if we could get an !faq-derelicts command? Would be useful to send people when they ask how to get upgrades and other things… was thinking maybe even a bit of a tutorial on the basics of raiding it?
Had an idea but idk if it's a good one but what about a channel dedicated to helping people name creature/planets/ships/bases ect. Basically people can send a screenshot of the thing they want to name and can ask for ideas or suggestions on names and what not
And people can share names they've thought of or found
IMO it's too niche of an idea to warrant a separate channel, I'd just post it in the general channel
Suggestion that we add a specific date (September 2020) to the #legacy-screenshots channel pin as some newer players don't know when Origins came out.
Good idea
bump (in case this wasn’t seen)
It would be great if this post or the images of it could be pinned in #nms-questions, maybe make a guide on how to do this, it works on all platforms and is something rly cool, I feel like everyone should know about it
This allows you to recolour and add icons to your freighter, ship, multitool, anything that’s nameable, you can even have multiple Colors and icons, it’s really cool
redhot why u give me the
😭
lol it's inspect, not suspect. reviewing. ty for the suggestion.
oh lol

Great!
Could we make a channel for switch players if when switch comes out it is used in this channel
There won't be different channels for different systems as it's cross play so not a lot of point
K
Well switch will be not multiplayer
But yeah, not really much of a point for a whole channel for it anyways now that i think bout it
Can add reaction to messages in channels? What's the worst that could happen
You unlock that feature in most channels with Familiar role (server xp level 5 - run !RoleHelp in #bot-spam or check #roles-information)

Good morning.
Would it be useful to other redditors here to add a freighters help channel or just a freighters channel? I have questions about operations, recruiting and finding better classes, etc. And no one really seems to pay attention to the question in #nms-questions]
We have #nms-legacy-ships which includes freighters and frigates. But the last question you asked in help was answered. The metal frigates can't be fed, it's a UI bug. If you have other questions, ask them in the ship channel or help - if someone doesn't answer it's because they don't know, not that they are ignoring you.
ok thanks
I think that !faq-beginnertips could use including one or more of these info somehow, may require rewording
2 - focus on the story at least until you get to see the anomaly, then you're free to team up with your friends to play Nexus Missions, build a base together, explore around and whatnot, just make sure you don't touch important missions at #3 in multiplayer / teaming up.
3 - playing all the "important" quests (Artemis path, Atlas path, Base Computer Quest, Expanding the Base quest along with all the Specialists quests) will:
-- give you a lot of insight about how the game works along with many of its mechanics and building types
-- teach you unique tech and abilities you wouldn't be able to obtain otherwise
-- give you a lot of free tech you'd have to buy otherwise
"Dreams of the Deep" quest and "Trace of Metal" quest (triggered by the Settlement quest) give you free and unique tech as well.
The Settlement is a "mini game" inside of No Man's Sky which should be considered as "important" for #1 and #2, not to be touched in multiplayer```
Another thing that happens frequently is players coming to ask for help about what they should hold on to or sell, specially when in a tight spot with small inventory size and just one ship, I put together the following if it can be of any use in another FAQ or as a separate one:
- obvious stuff: Ion Batteries, Life Support Gel, Starship Shield Batteries, Starship Launch Fuel, possibly Sodium to recharge the ship shield and the suit hazard protection, possibly Uranium to recharge the ship launch system, possibly Oxygen if you have no Life Support Gel
- Salvaged Frigate Modules
- Starship Storage Augmentations
- Freighter Upgrade Modules
- Cargo Bulkheads
- Multitool Expansion Slots
- Salvaged Data
- Emergency Broadcast Receivers
- Anomaly Detectors
- Void Eggs, Living Ship parts
- possibly "S/X/?" class Upgrade Modules of all types
- possibly Navigation Data and Charts
Remember to expand/unpack Sentinel Glass, Suspicious Technology Packets and Suspicious Goods Packets to see what they contain.
Refine Larval Cores, Hadal Cores, Runaway Mould (and possibly also Pugneum / Tainted Metal) to Nanites in a portable / personal refinery.
Anything else can be easily obtained / bought, so you can decide about trashing / selling the other stuff.
All Upgrade Modules you know you don't need can be sold for Nanites even at "S/X/?" class.
Faction/Race Relics can be bought from NPC pilots at Trading Outposts (Korvax Casing/Convergence Cube, GekNip, Gek Relic, Vy'keen Effigy/Dagger) - can happily sell these to free slots.
When really in a tight spot with no place to drop stuff and you can fly your ship at all, Carbon, Ferrite and Di-Hydrogen can be trashed / sold because they can be easily obtained just flying over a planet and shooting at the ground (rocks, trees, Di-Hydrogen clusters). Depending on whether you scanned the rocks / trees and they contain Oxygen as secondary resource, you can also get plenty of Oxygen.```
The !faq-freighterfarm could include something like the following (which also covers for nailing a freighter with glyphs) - players keep asking over and over the exact steps to roll the class and hunt a model, and they often mix the two things up.
1 - portal to or find the desired system (the system where the freighter _will_ spawn) and choose either A) place a base there, or B) place a base in a system _near_ the desired system
2 - keep playing normally, grab a _manual_ save before every warp
3 - once you get the fight, _look_ at what model you got, if you like it and you want to ignore the above, go to step #5, otherwise reload the _manual_ save
4 - _teleport_ to either A or B
if A) warp to an _uncharted system_ (won't trigger the fight) and warp back to the desired system, you will get the fight
if B) just warp to the desired system to get the fight
Rolling the class of a precise model after you've found it (_once you have the fight warping into the system_):
5 - go to the space station
6 - hop out of the ship to grab an _auto_ save
7 - go check the freighter
8 - if good, buy (or get for free, depending on the case)
9 - if no good, reload the _auto save_, and re-check the freighter
If anything goes wrong reload the _manual_ save and pick up from step #4.
To just try a different model from a different system reload the _manual_ save and warp to that system, then continue from step #5
IMPORTANT: if you're buying a new freighter and you have one already, make sure you leave ONE item in the general inventory of the old freighter (to work around the base transfer bug) - dismantle any tech and leave tech tab and cargo tab empty - you should be asked about transferring the base over.```
I was not able to find a comprehensive recap for finding and scrapping crashed ships early on using charts, the following could be evaluated to get its own FAQ or get linked somewhere in another FAQ:
1) buy Emergency Charts with Navigation Data, 5 or 6 will do if you only need one ship, buy more according to your needs
2) hover on a Chart in your inventory and activate it
3) you may get various detected buildings, don't visit any of those unless it's a Distress Signal
4) ignore any error about a specific building already marked, the chart won't be consumed, keep activating charts
5) once you get a Distress Signal, fly over / land somewhat near, but not too close
6) verify with your visor or from the ship whether there is an NPC or a spherical beacon
7) if there's the NPC, it's a pilot rescue, can't claim the ship, tag this marker in the visor to tell it apart from the good ones
8) if there's the spherical beacon, it's a claimable ship
9) if you got the wrong distress signal, keep activating charts
10) once you find a crashed ship interact with the sphere beacon to get tech and other stuff
11) claim the ship
12) switch back to your main ship, back to step 2 for more ships (max total is 9) or continue to step 13
13) go to the Anomaly and swap your ship for the crashed one
14) teleport to the space station
15) dismantle anything you can dismantle in the ship (normally 1 or 2 upgrade modules)
16) scrap the ship
17) keep the storage augmentation modules for your own good ships
18) sell the scrap for units
19) sell the modules for nanites (or keep them if they're good)
Important: keep activating charts in the same system (if you go to another, you'll have to waste some to mark the unwanted POIs). Move to another system if you start getting empty crash sites.
Navigation Data to buy Charts be found interacting with small Orange / Blue cubes and small Black discs laying around on desks and tables in the Space station and some planetary buildings, activating Waypoints on planets gives Navigation Data as well.

When will i be able to apply for mod ?
Is there requirments, age limits, etc
Specific dates,...
Cause i want to help the server
Seeing how hard it is
And, how to apply ?
I don't know where to ask these questions
You can ask Gleam or Red, perhaps
It says on their status "Do not disturb"
I won't do that
Oh, I sometimes send memes while they're on DnD, probably nothing to worry
Plus, iirc DnD mode prevents notifications to be sent
No specific dates, will likely be an announcement when we are looking for new mods
At the moment applications are not open
But can you at least tell me how you do it ?
Like, how do you apply
A link to a form is usually posted in #server-announcements when we open applications.
@cunning arch For crashed ships, activate charts until you have 2 Distress Beacons, 1 of each is guaranteed. Fly to one and look for orb, if crashed pilot, use Visor to tag the marker, fly to other, claim wreck, and activate charts for another distress beacon - always knowing exactly which is which due to the tagged marker.
I have an idea, we could have an auction channel as a more fun alternative for trades.
Picture this. You open a ticket to start an auction then people have 60 seconds to join (in a custom channel/thread) then people can give their offers for said trade then the person with the best item gets said item/items.
However, this means that the OP would have to moderate said channel so maybe add a new role to acomodate this so as to not have someone make it then leave it immediately leaving others to just sit idly by.
May not happen but I can see it being fun
ah! nice addition, thanks!
integrated it into the instructions
@cunning arch I've been playing around with a new Living Ship scouting method, I call it 1.3 Birds with 1 Stone. I scout wrecks with Emergency Charts, dropping a Save Beacon at each one. Then after a reload, I go revisit all of them checking whether or not they show an Unknown Building icon in the Visor. If a wreck has the icon, it is a Living Ship spawn - as long as you can see the icon and it does NOT get identified, the Starbirth quest reset works to spawn an LS there 100% of the time.
Only ~30% of crash sites are able to spawn LSes, I've learned, and thus the name, 1.3 Birds per Stone.
Good stuff, thanks! That could become an addition to the Living Ship FAQ very well. Now to hope the Masters of the Universe integrate these suggestions in the Mechanical Penguin 😛
Maybe, we will discuss with emissaries
No
We aren't going to do rooms for different languages as we have no way to reliably moderate them.
Oh wait, you're right
If this was a paid job and we had a lot of different language speakers available that may be feasible
Well then, nevermind
And perhaps one day, i can become a trial mod... one of my dreams
Hey! Im looking a server to play multiplayer. Can you suggest me one?
Not really the purpose of this channel. See Topic and pins.
For LFG, check #nms-lfg-or-trades or our voice channels. If you're looking for hubs / civilizations, see pins in #nmscord-hub and check #archived-nms-communities.
Ok sorry
Gleam took care of this. Thank you for your suggestion for this.
nice, thanks a lot!
This one was evaluated, and what Bkay and Gleam helped put together was !faq-beginnerinventory and it won't include all of the items listed here since many of these are too advanced for beginners.
yep I saw that one, looks great, the most important things made it in anyways
@abstract mountain Can you please help us review this suggestion to see what is missing from !Faq-FreighterFarm to see what bits should be edited?
I know it's late for you right now so we can discuss some more tomorrow. No rush.
I think bk201 is going to integrate some of that in the original link that appears in the FAQ, we talked about that a couple of days ago, I actually overlooked that first link and it covers most of it already, the only thing is probably just separating the hunt and roll phases to help players not mix them up
Bkay just filled me in. Sweet! Ty so much guys! @spice crypt @abstract mountain and @cunning arch
the rewrite is not far off from release
This channel should be a forum channel
https://discord.com/blog/forum-channels-space-for-organized-conversation
Thanks for the suggestion.
I saw this suggestion in another channel and thought it would be cool.
The space whale archives.
A place where people can show off their cosmic megafauna without disturbing other channels
We aren't doing a channel dedicated to Organic Frigates at this time, but we do have #nms-legacy-ships which includes freighters and frigates so feel free to post them there any time.
A special emoji only text channel
The going live channels suddenly have a 8 person cap. idk if it was intentional but can it get removed or increased. There wasn't really any issues with how it was setup before before. If people didn't want to be in a large room they split off into other channels. But as it is now people are not able to join in or have to be asked to leave or not follow to other rooms. its a huge pain.
It's due directly to complaints brought up by several users, and part of an overhaul to voice that we are doing.
No problem
important channels should be up with the main channel
They are
Hi Zodium, I don't know if you've tried this before, but if you click on a channel category (i.e., 📌** Information**), the category gets collapsed, which helps clear up some of your Discord screen real estate. It's something that may be worth trying if you have difficulty getting to certain channels in any server. I'm not sure what platform you're on, but if you're on desktop, there are also keyboard shortcuts you can use to navigate channels easier. If you use Ctrl-K you can even type part of a channel or friend's name to get to a discussions more quickly.
thank you, i'm familiar with how discord works. i made the suggestion because gleam commented that if people didn't heart more screenshots, maybe the channel should be deleted, to which I replied that I often forget the channel exists because it's down so low I have to scroll to see it. i don't care either way.
"put the things you want people to see where they can see them" is just common sense to me
That's from your perspective not managing a 6 year old server with 70k members. You're welcome to your opinion on what defines "common sense."
of course.
it was only a suggestion you can use, or not, to get people to heart more screenshots, if that's what you want.
Lets get rid of the people count in VCs
Thank you for the suggestion.
So if we cant get the limits removed can there be a more aggressive afk timer or something. People sitting in the room muted and deafened just keeps people looking to voice chat from being able to join in.
@spice crypt ^
The inactive timeout is currently set to 30 minutes which seems pretty reasonable. No?
No
So do a group chat and have as many as you like.
We have to attempt to moderate these channels, and 8 at once is difficult enough to tell who is talking when.
idk 10 to 15 would be more reasonable for a vc channel imo. But i only have one monitor so every time ive tabbed over i just see a hand full of people in the main vc muted and deafened while ive been wanting to join back in. I stepped out earlier so someone's fiend could join but haven't been able to join back in because of people consuming slots in the room.
Then again the second channels starting to get a few more people so its not as mind numbingly slow now.
Updated to 15 minutes. Hopefully that helps resolve some of the concerns, at least for members that Discord detects going "Idle."
Awesome thank you. I hope so as well. 😀
NMS item giveaway: use the giveaway bot to randomly select a participant to recieve a valuable item in game. these items are submitted by users
We are still talking about this, thank you for the suggestion.
The bot is simple, presuming you mean the GiveawayBot, but organizing people to gift the items and do so in a timely fashion is something we aren't interested in trying at this time.
add pecorino romano channel
where we share photos of recipes we make that have the cheese
for now
😨 😨 😨
the way i've seen it work in other servers is that theyre only run when someone has something to giveaway, which is generally about once a month
I would like off topic stream channels for when you want to stream something other than No Man's Sky in this server.
I get that this is a NMS server, but it couldn't hurt is all I'm sayin'. I mean, we have an other games channel so why not go all the way?
You're welcome to check out the option we have for Game Night in #roles, if you'd like to coordinate playing another game with members of our community and want to stream it.
That's too specific imo
I just want to stream a game without waiting for a specific day to do so.
That's the option we offer. If it doesn't work, I'm sure there are other Discord servers that have a broader gaming audience that would support your needs.
Nah every other community bullies me because I don't understand a question they asked.
I just realized that this sounds manipulative and I apologize
I'm sorry to hear that. We're a Discord Partner server which means we must uphold stricter rules that other servers probably don't have to take into consideration. Sadly, it's been brought to our attention, multiple times, that our voice channels have been dominated by a number of users who continue to break said rules. Keep in mind that our entire team is made of volunteers and that we have limited resources to manage the entire server -- not just voice but text chat as well. Therefore, we must prioritize where we allocate the focus of our team. One proposed solution that's been discussed multiple times has been the removal of voice channels altogether. But we understand that many NMS players -- the primary focus of our No Man's Sky Discord server -- can benefit from the use of voice and stream, not only to team up, but also to learn more about the game. As a result, we've been evaluating a variety of options which include some of the changes you see today (also described in the #nms-voice-chat
Pins). We'll continue to listen to our community's feedback, but as we stand today, one area we still feel strongly about is the focus of our server being the game it's named after. We do thank you for your input nonetheless.
I'm not gonna bother to read all that but ok.
I've read this, I'm sure we as an admin team will do our best to monitor the VC channels. It's very hard when you find a community you like, only to find that some people are toxic. We will do our very best to shape the culture of the server into one that is accepting and friendly to everyone, and most of all is helpful.
We used to have groups that tried holding those once a week. We expect the community to organize them. And we welcome ideas for trying to help promote them if there's a specific game you'd like to plan out.
So bring it up in the #other-games channel. Try to gauge interest. And try to direct the coordination of it to the #game-night chat channel to figure out a day or time.
Make this channel a forum channel
Thank you for the suggestion.
Think you said that last time lol
I hear if you want something, it’s best to do a lot of the leg work yourself
I could put together a presentation stating why I think it’d be an improvement over a text channel, easier to moderate etc.
You can do that, sure.
Lol
Not even gonna feign interest?
I mean, I can
Sounds terrific! I would like to have forums on discord even though we have a subreddit forum!
In all honesty, we see forums as something that we could use for trades
Interesting
What is it about trades that does it and not suggestions?
Trades can be streamlined for others to just scroll past stuff they aren't interested in, whereas in this channel we want to see everything and respond in a timely manner.
Fix the suggestions function on the bot so this isn't a debate channel 🙂
😛
Ah and you all feel the forum nature would get in the way of the timeliness?
Ah perhaps by “everything” you mean if some one is acting a fool here you don’t want to have to click into a thread to find it and take action
Correct
That makes sense
We have been testing the forum feature, and we don't feel it's suited for this channel specifically, not that it doesn't have a place at all
I’ve seen two of my favorite servers use it so far with great success
I’m going to implement it on another server I mod for a friend
I guess it’s a bit harder to control who can join a gaming server though
Are there moderation bots here? Like YAGPDB.xyz?
We have a custom bot, Gunter
I see
So how about those room caps? 20 maybe? This is so epically lame. its a new version I finally get off work been dying to heck it out and cant join the group to talk about any of it. >.>
There are 8 total voice people right now, but we think that adding a bigger channel is likely based on voice user feedback.
that would be great at least one room is a decent size it would let people join in and hang out, and then decide where to go if they want to split off.
Looking for some players to hop on NMS with, I’m new to the game and I would love to play with someone
This channel is for suggesting things for this server 😄
Just a recommendation like from creatuve hub, modder role having a distinct emoji instead of the
I took a screenshot snap but can't drop it in here
There should be a channel dedicated to talking about glitches
Make #nms-news-ticker an announcement channel, like #nms-announcements
We talk about them in every NMS channel, we won't be adding a glitches only channel at this time.
A role to ping?
🤔 no, an announcement channel, with the 📣 icon, so other servers can follow it https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/360032008192-Announcement-Channels-
Yeah, like NMS announcements
Yeah, as I said 😅
No ping though, just publish
Oh ok that ok
Not a bad idea at all, I'll yack with Red about it
Yeah, no need to ping for that, people can set individual channels to notify on any message in a channel if they want that
I don’t know if it’s possible but it would be cool if it showed how many people were currently playing no mans sky
I hate to destroy your dreams, but the number on the subreddit isn't the number of people playing.
Oh
It's the number of people online on reddit reading that subreddit
Nooo
Would it be possible to link the experimental release notes page when the experimental branch is updated in #nms-news-ticker ?
it would be nice and make peoples less busy trying to find the exp. patch notes.
That's straight from steam db, the notes don't get dropped at the same time and can take anywhere from minutes to hours. The pins in #nms-questions always have the most recent patch notes post.
You can run !nmsversions in #bot-spam which will also have the most recent notes from experimental.
Not really a suggestion, maybe a bug report?
Wait, can't attach pictures here?
Location for the October's Sky shows up all weird
A Discord mobile app bug unfortunately
If you click the green Event Details button, it shows as it's supposed to. On PC it's a non-issue. Discord be weird with their platform inconsistencies. Probably a bug worth reporting to Discord.
Done
Added the command !Experimental in case that helps. As Gleam mentioned, keep in mind the link doesn't get updated at the exact same time the branch is updated and shown in #nms-news-ticker, but we do our best keeping the link (also found in !NmsVersions) as up to date as possible.
Ah ok thanks!!
Suggestion for new header for the server?
You can get the graphics used in Steam library from here: https://www.steamgriddb.com/game/3779
Option for Original Steam Assets
We shall change, don't worry - each update gets a new banner
You should put the slow mode back to 5 seconds in the #no-mans-sky channel
No thank you
Can't we have an explorers chat or a thread in #explorers-archive for asking questions about certain discoveries?
For example someone shares an awesomene multi-tool and I'd like to ask what class it is but we aren't allowed to talk in #explorers-archive
You're welcome to refer to them or ask about them in #no-mans-sky (or other relevant channels like #nms-legacy-ships in the case of ships or #nms-fauna for fauna)
Can we have a multi-tool hunting channel?
Since we already have ship-hunting and nursery?
We have it in a wish list. We'll re-evaluate it once we address other higher priority server channel needs including an LFG revamp.
Great!
Might already be the case but may it be worth giving players in permadeath a possible emblem to their name on here to differentiate them from other modes? Like how admins have the atlas or expeditions have the relevant sigil etc

It was a suggestion for this discord
I've noticed a few times today people looking for clarification on if someone is in permadeath, myself included @keen violet
Oh got ya. It's been brought up before. And here's a thread explaining why it's not really feasible with the way Discord role hierarchy works: <#discord-server-feedback message>
Ah system limitations, I get it
I believe the general rule is if you want an emoji to be added you have to supply the art
And it has to not be terrible
ahh ok
Could we have a channel for more serious discussions? Politics and such, since we have an off topic channel but unsure if we can discuss that in there
If not fully understandable
There used to be a channel, and later a thread, both got nuked because reasons.
Which reasons?
I don't really remember what was said, but probably along the lines of too many arguments, or being too heavy for a server about a silly game, or something.
Assuming it got heated rapidly, so that makes sense. Would had been nice if we had such channel again, with rules and moderation, respectively.
Trust me, you don’t want channel about politics and serious stuff in gaming community (tested for you). The worst thing you might experience is find out that ppl you like (in some way) don’t share your view or perspective on world you live in. Better enjoy relax and passion off everyday reality and with things you share joy with others.
Yeah for sure, I get the whole point. Im kinda new here so was worth asking for, yet I respect it if its not being created, its NMS and only NMS after all.
I’m new here too. But I expereienced this on other DS channel and it was… not good (softly said).
Question/clarification: as Waypoint is 4.0, does this mean pre-4.0 screenshots should start going to #legacy-screenshots ?
Only asking because that was the case with Beyond (2.0) era screenshots shortly after Origins came out
That's not our plan so far. Thoughts on this @spice crypt?
Nope, still same terrain gen
We need a "no pet's sky" channel
like #nms-fauna?
More an irl pet chat
You're welcome to post pet pictures in either #off-topic-bond-james-bond or our newly created thread #1033694005915041863
Haha I thought this was for plants, when I joined back after being awol for a bit. I was getting all my monsteras and succulents ready.
Is there a “mod mail” bot?
Users could be directed there to make a ticket
Mods could use those tickets to organize reports and have a centralized system for dealing with tomfoolery
Don’t know if Gunter could do it. The r/NintendoSwitch server built a custom mod mail bot to handle this
It's something we have discussed, and will again
Once that gets added, the amount of report tickets will increase massively and mods will spend most, if not all of their time handling tickets, its good for the community but for mental health its another case. Speaking of experience from a very large server with minimal staff. This only works if you have a significant team spending on it
there would have to be some expectations set on the responses (you may not get a response, if you do it will be within one week -- something that sets clear boundaries). dunno if that would be enough tbh
I think you should add a nomad role to the playstyle tags as in someone who is the opposite of a settler
isn't that explorer?
Suggestion: Add race roles to the server like when you can edit your character in no man's sky you can change your race it would be cool to have that in this server for people
General voice chat
a room people can just hop into and chat while playing nms without needing to be in a group or lobby or streaming
Tickettool is a nice option that can be used for other potential stuff as well such as pop up events with submission entries.
We have race roles, just not self assigned - you gotta reach level 99 in the server
Tried it, twice now - not enough interest the last couple times. We could do another roundtable on it, but it will be after we do one for multitools at the earliest.
Oh well Alr
I have an suggestion for the Game-mode roles. That we add a role for Relaxed mode
I think a Miner role would be cool as somebody who only mines and explores, but doesn't focus on selling or building.
A bug/issue discussion channel where we could see what other players are having certain issues and formulate work arounds before those issues get fixed
This would also alert more players to a given issue, meaning more people could report it and it would have a higher likelihood of being fixed
That is 100% #nms-questions. The folks with knowledge stones next to their names regularly discuss certain bugs and possible workarounds as well as write faq posts related to bugs that persist through updates.
Yep, that's on the list
Interesting, we will chat about it
A pirate channel. A place to discuss or even share lawless systems, best types of ecenomies etc to smuggle goods to
Files in the memes channel should give more xp, it will encourage people to send more memes
Also i thought of a no mans sky meme competition to encourage making no mans sky memes, but thats probably a bad idea isnt it
More xp for memes? Gonna pass on that one.
We will put that in the roundtable list. A roundtable channel is where we try channel ideas to see if they would be viable. Both #nms-legacy-ships and #nms-base-building have come from them. I believe multitools are the next one we will do.
Sounds good 👍
How about to add other languages chats (Russian, chezh, Portuguese and other)
No feasible way to moderate unless you are proposing we get mods for every language.
Yeah, you right
How about a channel specifically for sharing nice music? People in off topic or other games and media dont usually talk about music.
Give the choice to delete the communication center, or the comment ball
Hey friend, this is for suggestions for the Discord server itself. To suggest things to Hello Games directly, follow this link:
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Oh ok thx
Hello, can you create a lounge for multi tools please if everyone agrees
Convert the no mans pet thread from #off-topic-bond-james-bond into its own channel like #no-mans-steak🥩. Threads are really wonky, especially on mobile, and can easily be lost or never seen by new users.
It's just an optional place to put pet pics, off topic is still fine to post them in as well.
History channel/thread?
what would go in there?
Half of what currently goes in off-topic 😅
ah so you mean irl history then?
Yeah, not NMS if that's what you mean. There was a channel for old versions for a while I think, but #legacy-screenshots is the nearest now.
right
yeah that was what I was asking indeed, just trying to understand the suggestion 🙂
#nms-vr ? helps to highlight the VR mode, get folks to focus on all things NMS VR... share settings, bindings, discuss improvements and whatnot specific to the VR modes. With PSVR2 releasing soon enough, and suggestion that VR is getting some love in 2023 https://twitter.com/NoMansSky/status/1539947807246880768?s=20&t=3R78m_z9-7vqDGz4OiK-bw
^
Can we have a special multi-tool hunting channel?
Like we have a ship-hunting channel and a pet channel?
Yeah
Not just lack of demand, we also don't split the various platforms up in their own channels. One big happy community
I have one why don't you make a help channel
Should be called something like #nms-questions if they do add it.
#bot-spam
Might rename #no-mans-steak🥩
It's a neat spin on the name but I've seen several times where new users head straight there because the name looks exactly like #no-mans-sky
Maybe something related to the chef guy in the Anomoly?
May be a good thing to have a tech-support channel, or something along those lines to prevent the #nms-questions and #no-mans-sky channels from game crash issues. It may also help people to answer questions related to game crashes on different platforms, pin useful knowledge shares, and guide stranded travelers along the way.
Oh yes, I’ve read that, it’s why I had suggested with “may be good”. 🙂
Oh I see, my bad!
No worries friend-entity Ditto :3
I'm sorry, this is one I'll fight for - I love the name
We have tried that a couple different times, never quite works out. Right now we are trying out #964865106334875698 for any lengthy discussions on various issues, to keep the chats uncluttered.
Perfect! Thank you for pointing out the thread, friend-entity Gleam 🙂

Bounty hunting channel. One person posts a bounty "poster" for ship/mt/freighter/pet etc. with reward for geting it . Units, game items etc. And if someone finds it can click on the poster to dm the person who posted the bounty and do the exchange in game. You could also get some channel points or rep. For completing a bounty
Why does this message about giving out hearts in #nms-photomode-gallery pop up when you first post something? At least for me that was really unenjoyable and made me leave the channel quicker than normal, which is probably the opposite of whats intended. Long story short, I vote for removing that message. Many people dont like having a spotlight like that on them.
To explain how the channel works, and to encourage participation. Numbers say it's working terrifically.
Guess that makes sense, given how most people only read stuff when you kick it into their faces. Sadly.
Appreciate the response tho.
@flint siren #nms-multitools has been added
Nice!!!
Meme channel
It's role locked. You'll get access to it when you been active here.
When you get familiar role.
Just being active here will gain you xp for levels but spamming doesn't work.
just participate normally in the channels and you'll get there over time
A channel to send glyphs for super awesome planets
Read the pins there for posting guidelines
Oh
A ticket channel for talking to mods without pinging them. (i can help set this up if need be)
You can run the !ModHelp command in any channel, including #bot-spam.
!Help ModHelp
@keen violet
MODHELP
Opens a private thread with the server mods. The command you typed will be deleted from the channel for (partial) privacy.
Please only use this command if you really need help!
Usage:
ModHelp [message]
Maybe a bit silly but a role for people like @abstract mountain Something like Help-expert or Help-Legend, with an appropiate symbol ofc
That's Emissary
Hey I have a pretty good idea. I just got the game and I wanna see other people's planet and just pure beauty of the game. Would think that a page for people to share planets. Like to post a planet just send a photo of the planet and where it is and what not. That way people know how to get there. On top of that I think people should be able to ask for specific planets like a fire planet.... or one that looks like a graveyard. And then people can respond with a picture and location that may help them find the planet they want.
#explorers-archive is a channel for posting finds (Read pins there before posting) - as for requesting planets, just ask in #no-mans-sky and people will help.
A channel under off topic for sharing setup pictures, maybe add it alongside or integrate it into a tech chat and/or tech photo channel (irl tech/setups etc.)?
We have tried channels for this at various times, it has never worked out. #off-topic-bond-james-bond or #other-games suffice for now.
a channel for in-game suggestions might be useful for helping get new ideas for the games future (if there is already one sorry i must have missed it)
ok thx
A few more Gunter emotes, if the server has space. 🙏🏼
👌
Lol, that's gonna get a highly likely outta me - I'll chat up Red
A couple roles...gog...steam...and steam-x
Gog and Steam can be a thing
We should rise up and demand our rights to an off topic voice chat; we don't wanna just talk about NMS, sometimes we wanna talk about our days, our goals, and forget about the fact we are clumps of meat eating plants and other clumps of meat for sustinance
Use private group chat
none of us use private group chat since some of us aren't friends
making a sister server for that seems kinda redundant
Become friends, we aren't about to try and moderate a free for all voice channel.
Ty for the heads up. Issue's been addressed.
Another command related question
Should NmsText command for displaying galactic alphabet be available for everyone in regular channels as well?
I would imagine moderating the server full of messages in this alphabet a nightmare
This will lead to a lot of spam in general chat channel, making it really hard to moderate, imo.
I am not asking in favour of it
It was used in one of the channels (I think it was hub channel)
Im asking if that was intended to happen
Aha! Gotcha.
We've blocked it from #no-mans-sky. If it ever becomes problem in other channels, we'll block it. Gleam and I don't see much harm in it at this moment. Ty for the heads up, we'll def monitor its usage
Red, your pfp looks scary 🥺👉👈
Is there a reason there isn’t a nms-exocraft channel? That could be useful. 🙏
Because all of them are exactly the same (for everyone else) and there just isn't much to base a channel around.
Fair point! I spoke too soon, getting more experience lately.
Since we have received a new channel recently this request (suggestion) may not be a valid case to make but I implore the friend-entities to consider creating a freighter coordinate sharing channel too.
Only if it can add value to the server according to you. I personally think it will add value, but I am biased because I am also very lazy to go out there and search the NMSCE. 😅
Well, we have #explorers-archive which is for anything, and #nms-legacy-ships which would also include freighters.
Oh I can share freighters in ship-hunting? That’s great to know. Thank you for confirming this, friend-entity @spice crypt

im guessing it may have been suggested already but maybe a RP server? waddya think?
I'm not a staff member but there was an RP channel here once before and it turned in to a cesspit real fast.
huh why so?? the community doesnt seem to be too toxic or anything
We won't be adding an RP channel, but if you are interested in that check out : #archived-nms-communities message
haha alright
Have a way to keep the No Mans Sky discord from defaulting to the Home channel. It's annoying for some and some, like myself, don't wish to view it. I'd rather have channels in which I'm interested come up.
If the behavior described below isn't what you're experiencing, it could be a bug with your Discord app, and possibly worth reporting to Discord support:
By default, visiting a server will land on Home. However, if you have been to the server recently, you will continue to be taken to your last visited channel instead. This ensures Home doesn’t get in the way if you're in the middle of participating in conversations.
Src: https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/articles/6156116949911-Server-Home-Beta
Also important noting, as that page explains, there's no opt out option for the Home feature. However, what you're describing sounds like a potential bug worth reporting.
What does this article cover?
What is Server Home?
Where can I find Server Home?
How does content appear in Server Home?
Behavior
Can you curate content?
How do I join the beta or leave feedba...
Thanks for the reply. It sounds like only channel owners can leave feedback, but I'll look closer to see if I can. Ah, I can. Right-click to the rescue.
A channel for Civs to meet up
Did you check #archived-nms-communities? See top Pin
for more details.
We should have a debate channel in this server tbh.
a badge role that indicates that you've beat the artemis path. same with atlas path too
Something to think about, maybe not a badge though
A channel to post the pets we have. (For scientific NMS research of course.)

nms-brag?
a channel specifically for friend codes only
We have a #nms-lfg-or-trades for stuff like that.

bro what 💀
Review the pinned rules in this channel: #discord-server-feedback message
Hello
Input on a channel specifically for sharing and discussing music/playlists? I think #off-topic-bond-james-bond and #other-games are both used for this but a separate channel would be really nice, much better to discover or share music with others rather than sifting through other topics. Especially when trying to revisit some music recommendations that were given, as both channels are hopping
@spice crypt and I discussed options. Since creating a separate channel is a no go, as #other-games already serves this purpose and this is the first request of the sort we see, we've agreed to create an optional #1075798777060933672 thread which members can subscribe to. Similar to how we have an optional Pets thread under #off-topic-bond-james-bond. Everyone's welcome to encourage members to join the thread when a music topic comes up in any channel including #off-topic-bond-james-bond, but keep in mind the thread is 100% optional, as in people are still allowed to share music in #other-games.
Tip: tagging people within the thread sometimes works best for inviting them to a specific music discussion.
Awesome, thank you! :))
Ehem, maybe something for people who’s finished all the achievements as well. :x Had to leave the machine running overnight for Robust.
NMS -tutorials tab would be cool.
Are there new emoji in server ?... @keen violet
Which one did i ping.. 🤔
I can't ping gleam. 🤔
Gunter ping Gleam
@spice crypt (ping by @keen violet
)
Gunter ping Gleam
@keen violet (ping by @spice crypt
)
When i try to type using @ its not showing your name
Not sure what you mean btw. We always have new emojos in the server
Example:
They want an Apollo
Discord being weird

?
I can't see it. 🤔
An emoji, for Apollo
I can't see apploo emoji
It's not in this server
Ah 😑
Was asking since i made it to welcome screen using apollo getup... (Sorry if m being greedy)
😄
Is that valid request... @keen violet and gleam
Gunter ping gleam

Yes. It's a good suggestion
Yes. It's a good suggestion
I be back later
Personally not enjoying Twitch Drops notifications in #nms-announcements next to update announcements that come to my server as well, so I have to take my nms-announcement channel down T_T.
I imagine I'm mostly the only person who feels this way but just in case I'll leave this piece of feedback, enjoy Fractal Update peeps
Thank you for the constructive feedback, it's appreciated.
of course ❤️ ✨
I have one feedback.
I would like to have a role added for ppl who have twitch channel here...like twitch icon showing next to their name ... Who are rewards enabled...so it helps ppl in this server knowing that they are from our server streaming on twitch...and we in turn help by watching their streams...and in turn more ppl will join our community
we do have the Content Creator role, anyone with that gets their NMS twitch streams automatically announced in #content-creator-corner
Ohhhhhh sorry then...i dint know
However... Any progress on this
No
A channel dedicated to people finding other people to play with
It would make finding people to play multi-player with much easier
You mean like a looking for group channel?
Ah ok, sorry wasting your time and thank you. I can be very blind at times
No waste at all
please no
It would be great if the slowmode timer in memes would be shorter, at most 15 secs if we have to have it. I get that the goal is to discourage coversations, but meme-related topics still get discussed and the slowmode just makes posting very slow. I know a lot of people probably said something already, but at least i am never going to get used to the slowmode, and probably most people wont either.
It makes more sence to put slowmode here instead to me
Gleam and I have agreed to shorten it. Note that we've updated the pinned channel rules in #memes🤡 to be extra clear about our expectations in that channel. If any of you guys see long off-topic chats going on or any other rule violations, please don't hesitate to run !ModHelp to alert us (that command can be followed by a message: !ModHelp Memes getting extra chatty)
Great idea
Okay, thanks 🙂
make race tracks potential size be bigger. I cant seem to get the track to extend further than 400u from my base center point. regardless of me extending the building area.
Please check this channel's Topic &

Having a separate TwitchDrops ping to opt in to sounds like a good idea to me.
no idea why that put in a mention when I didn't put a space or anything ...
As Doc replied though:
we do have the Content Creator role, anyone with that gets their NMS twitch streams automatically announced in #content-creator-corner
As long as they have their Twitch linked with the !MyAccount command in #bot-spam which a few folks did here.
meant for the drop announcements not the drop enabled streams
realized I should have clarified that a bit more
We made NMS Twitch Drops announcements in #nms-announcements everyday. You get pinged for that with the announcements role in #roles
And we also unarchive the #nms-twitch-feed channel during the event, so people can see the current day's drops on there too.
Ok but is it worth to make a separate role / group for that event?
Assuming 4 content updates per year, each with 5 days of Twitch drop campaign, we get 20 days out of 365 days in a year
And we know Twitch drops happen after a major update, so you could ignore the pings after the major update announcement and be good to go
Imagine a cookoff event where people have to cook as much food as possible for the mods
@dense comet There's a better way to do it. Systems are prescouted for available resources, hidden from viewing until used, each round, host names a recipe the system can provide mats for, teams of 2 divvy up ingredients to procure, all cooking must be done at the main stage.

!timeout 24h 853194977064779776 How about your review our pinned channel rules? Serious suggestions for our Discord server. No shitposting.
@keen violet

Fashion channel to see players creativity and flair 👍
Hello friend-entities
I come with a simple suggestion for an amendment.
Can we add a 5th point in the pinned rules of #nms-questions to indicate and direct users to #nms-modding should they have any question related to save editing and/or modding the game?
This still makes me smile - I don't really see it happening, but maybe a thread or something.
Jury is still out
Good idea
a system for commending people who help in help chat. i really love the help and would love to show my appreciation. maybe roles for milestones?
Thank you for the feedback, Mythos. We added a pin with some channel guidance (which you can share with !HelpTopic when anyone steers away from the channel's topic). My thought is that adding it as a rule could imply that modding questions aren't welcome in #nms-questions so Gleam and I agreed with this other option instead. Btw, we also have these other commands in case they ever come in handy:
» Rules reminders: !HelpRules (for help) & !NmsRules (for NMS)
» !NmsChannels (also pinned in #no-mans-sky), meant to offer some channel guidance if needed
Ooh! Yes this is more reasonable. I’ll remember the commands for future reference
Thanks for your feedback, Waffles
We're very grateful to those who dedicate their time in helping our community. We have a system in place to show our appreciation. One of the roles is
No Man's Entity/Gal/Guy (NMEGG for short), which is awarded to those who go above and beyond for the community, as described in #roles-information. When they attain the role, we announced them in #server-announcements and add them to our #nmegg-hall-of-fame. Another relevant role we have is the
Atlas Emissary (see info below).
!EmissaryRole
to view, enable Link Preview
Atlas Emissaries are hoisted separately above Top Gek and have a knowledge stone role icon next to their name.
• Members who are chosen must already be NMEGG* and have actively shown an interest in helping our community, especially in our #nms-questions channel.
• Emissaries are given access to @fluid crystal features that help us catalog NMS knowledge that the community has acquired over time, while keeping up with each game update. They also help us verify or test, and document said knowledge, using Gunter to share it with anyone needing gameplay and technical guidance.
• This role is not a vanity role, it has a permission hierarchy associated to it. As such, it's not set in stone forever. If at any point, an Atlas Emissary is no longer able to or interested in carrying the role, we shall remove it, with no hard feelings and remain grateful for their contributions.
* You can read more about the No Man's Entity/Gal/Guy role in #roles-information & see them listed in #nmegg-hall-of-fame.
An NMS Multiplayer Community news channel underneath or above #archived-nms-communities .
Firstly this wouldn't be a channel for promoting servers, or recruitment advertising etc, as to keep that info in the communities channel, but instead a channel to showcase the vibrant and player created and managed multiplayer community, where HUGE amounts of people put custom work into trying to enhance the otherwise limited multiplayer facilities available to us.
Very very often, I see many claim that they have had no idea that a whole player driven multiplayer community exists beyond some online media, where in fact there are numerous communities, either direct factions, or helping hubs like StarCabs, UN42, PBF, and many others.
This channel would act a bit like a news room, allowing people (Not to promote necessarily), showcase news about what is going on around the community, if there has been some big community development, all-inclusive multiplayer event, perhaps some of the bigger more universal meetups (is it called Unity day? Life day? Not too sure on that example, but something aimed to be all-inclusive for any players to join and have some fun).
My own personal example would be the war event our faction and anothers are currently having, maybe giving a news update on the state of the war, or whatnot, allowing people to know what's going on in the Universe and among the vast multiplayer community.
Again, this isn't something for recruitment or promotion in the conventional way, as I'd say no server/recruitment based links (maybe YouTube for any additional media additions). This would be something NEUTRAL and depicted as purely Community news so to speak, to let the larger player Community know that there is a whole dedicated multiplayer society out there creating loads of custom content they may not know and think doesn't exist but would love to involve themselves with. A neutral news update area, to purely just post an update on what's going on.
Perhaps to avoid spam, allow a single ambassador as you may call it, of the specific civ or community to post on their behalf, and limit it to one post a week, and to repeat so this isn't confused as a means to directly recruit or promote, no server links; whilst it can refer to the #archived-nms-communities sector, it would not be treated as an opportunity to push your community, but instead share any interesting news about what may be going on out there, either with your community in some new update, or if there is some big multiplayer meetup with a whole load of communities, rather than most of the nms community sticking to singleplayer out of purely not knowing a whole new side of the playerbase is out there striving to provide loads of content for everyone to enjoy 🙂
I personally feel that something like this, in this main hub of NMS players is a must have, or at least an altered version of what I suggest that may fit here better if I'm missing any crucial behind the scenes information the admins may know better than myself for being the managers of this server.
Thanks for taking the time to read 🙂
hey! just wanted to suggest a minor edit to #roles-information first paragraph - adding #nms-media to the channels to which non-familiar role people can post images, as well as changing .xp to !xp, and last paragraph the-nexus to #roles
We will talk about this
Thanks
Great! 🙂
a channel where you post your funniest food fails
only problem, is where does the line cross?
Well as said, you'd not be allowed to post recruitment based links... This could involve discord servers or reddits... But YT for any video coverage could be allowed.
The posts themselves should read quite neutrally in terms of there isn't a line saying: Join Our Empire!
Other than that you'd naturally have some reliance on that the chosen ambassadors of the already vetted communities in #archived-nms-communities can abide by the general etiquette of what the channel is made for 🙂 as with anything like this, which usually works well.
So I think the line should be fairly obvious, but this is currently just thinking off of the top of my head, I'd imagine a more thought process of implementation, such as by the server managers here would be able to think of the more detailed/efficient way this could be implemented as to allow the news channel but ensure it isn't misused as a spammy recruitment 🙂 most vetted communities leaders I at least know of tend to be respectful and reliable to adhere by the rules of such things 🙂
so, for example, if someone said, we are running x in this server, the server is y in #archived-nms-communities , is that allowed. i'm not opposing the idea, just wondering.
That'd be more down to the specifics of what the admins here decide if this feature becomes approved.
My personal opinion would be as long as it was more of a side/subtle informational note, rather than a workaround for recruitment, it would be okay... Something like: For more information you can find us in #archived-nms-communities . Maybe if it was a more everyone can come along event, have that directed there? Or don't advertise a Community, but just the time and place people are meeting if anyone is interested, but again, more of an open informational message than a pushing Join us now type message. I think the admins here can probably word it better or find a more efficient way with some thought rather than me going off the top of my head though xD
But hopefully you understand my meaning.
Even if this idea wasn't implemented exactly as I have stated, but something similar as a compromise all in the efforts of helping to enhance and keep our player community connected would be good. Something people can interact with and see that there is a very prevalent, and hard working multiplayer community in the overall sense. Something to help inform and show the newer players or those that are just completely unaware there is an entire multiplayer built side to this game, and is an active part that interacts between each other rather than just individual groups with uncertainty about activity.
I think that if this was put in, in some form and in the right way, which I think I hopefully covered how it could be on the base level in my original suggestion, could only serve to benefit the whole community 🙂
Hello friend-entities @spice crypt and @keen violet
Hope you guys are doing great.
I have a rather peculiar request which may not sound very helpful at first but I think it will be helpful in the longer run, for all of us.
In the timed message by Gunter (image attached) can we add a sentence at the very top to indicate/ask users to disable multiplayer when completing any mission? Something like “Disable Multiplayer from the Network setting while playing through the story and side story missions”
What about PvP? Base settings? This repeat is crafted to be non-intrusive and just have general server guidance.
Fair point, but most of the issues that we come across are usually related to some issues caused by enabled multiplayer mode. A quest doesn’t work, a pain job won’t show up, a freighter missing parts, and many more, they are all related to multiplayer issues. Since this basic message by Guntie is a repeat it acts as a valuable place to advertise the option of disabling MP.
That being said, this is my personal opinion and it doesn’t make a huge difference if something is being repeated on a regular basis because we all advise against playing the game with multiplayer enabled whenever we’re trying to answer a question or solve an issue regardless.
I think a general link to beginner tips would be a more ideal solution for this repeat
Now, maybe we should discuss having a separate repeat, more focused on specific suggestions. That's another thing to consider
^ maybe a separate repeat message for in-game basic advice on MP/pvp/bases/etc, as opposed to attaching it to the server guidance one? or a botcommand specifically for beginner game settings
Faq-BeginnerTips
Faq-Multiplayer also
For this game, we have to be careful with providing too much information, all at once
Oh, I didnt know of those! If those exist then this may be a non-issue. I suppose you could add a one-line “run faq-etc for this” onto the repeat so people are aware of it?
And yes, absolutely agreed. Very easy to get overwhelmed
Try !Commands and !Faq in #bot-spam maybe
Yeah thatd be great, not my request tho so I’ll stop jumping in 😂
It is now, I'll blame you if it goes wrong
Oh this is a rather nice idea. The timing between each repeat for general server related tips is 1 hour I think (?), having a general tip for commands that link to in-game functionality, repeated at every (say) half an hour so that the server general tip and faq command tip repeats every half an hour of each other is a better solution. Timing of these tops isn’t something I should have a say on because you know what’s more relevant and better for the server, what I can suggest is to consider a few faq commands like the two you’ve mentioned, very basic commands that skim over the game functionality and adding a Note or Fair Warning at the top in bolt to pull the reader’s focus is something beneficial.
A visualization of the above mentioned idea
At 0.5 hour: general tip as it is.
At 1 hour: general tip for beginner, multiplayer command with something else that can be deemed important, along with the warning. Something like this:
Note: For a smooth gameplay experience we recommend playing story and side missions with multiplayer disabled
Run !faq-multiplayer in #bot-spam to learn more.
For beginner guide run !faq-beginnertips in #bot-spam.
We hope to create a helpful environment for all users in the server, if you have any game related questions please ask them in #nms-questions.
Is there a rough timeline for when suggestions go for consideration and are given a result? Or is it more a 'on the to-do list'.
Not by any means wanting this to come across as me rushing though! Just genuinely curious so I know what to expect from putting a suggestion in here 🙂
Thanks!
To do list 😄
Thanks! 😄
What's the stuff around Guntie?
Hes a good bot that feels more a part of the server than bots in other servers
Make Gleams !galaxynames command public (usable for everyone else too), would be very useful for a list of galaxy names and types
A happy birthday wishing channel.
Where we can register our or maybe friends bday (after their permission of course) with bots and they can remind us to wish them if they are still part of this community.
It will make this community warmer and more friendly.
How do you make sure dates dont get posted without consent, and how do the bots know who to ping for whom?
Make a birthday command. People can set their birth date there. Then, in a special channel, the bot congrats the user. Hi gleam
!
Hmmmm
Fix your multiplayer! The servers are broken, That will be all. Thanks
hey! this is not for game feedback, this is a community run server. this channel’s for server suggestions. If you want to leave feedback for Hello Games, run !hg pref in #bot-spam or elsewhere
Oh shit lol my bad
There should definitely be a VR section, there is a lot to improve and to discuss.
Has been suggested and rejected iirc
this comunity server should have a channel just for mods's picks on ships and pets
Why, their opinion isnt worth more than anyone elses on these matters
Not sure if this is the best place, but just been botted from another user from this discord attempting a phishing/advert attempt
I can provide the user, this was the only mutual discord we had so I assume they picked me out from here.
Dm me - in the future you can run: !modhelp for issues with the server or members.
sure thank you
Petition to make this little guy, into either a sticker or a emote
Yes
Do it mods.
Yes. Do it. Now.
We need more blob emojis
give me image perms for all channels
No, and serious suggestions only here.
Suggestions channel for the game itself
For suggestions to HG, see pins or run !HelloGames in #bot-spam for helpful links
You can also discuss ideas with the community in #nms-the-future
But if you want HG to see them, you must submit them via their Zendesk
OK, thanks
Suggested new playstyle role: Glazier (focuses on blasting Sentinels and other Sentinel-related things)
It would be nice to have more LFG vc's. There's been many occasions where both LFG 1 & 2 were full so there were multiple groups trying to coordinate with each other in stream 1 which was nothing but chaos. Possibly even just 3 more vc's could remedy the issue.
This will definitely help people organize groups better in the future. ❤️
Ty for bringing it to our attention.
We brought back 2 LFG VCs we'd archived when the server had been a bit slow. We'll gauge things with this setup and could add more LFG VCs if needed.
I have a suggestion...
To automate the ship hunting channel...like we do with nms-cord and hub mapping.
We post or fill in details of ship with images
And bot post it in the main ship hunt channel in a nice template way. So its more clean and organised.
Right now it's chaos ppl posting without cords and when someone asked what was galaxy ...they don't know...or don't know what were cords.
I also tried to raise this in ship hunting. But got shot down by many lazy ppl there... including some older members.
Not sure if my suggestion is nice but i honestly feel adding a bit process to things would make everyone's life easier.
i am already working on a template with @hardy glen will show results when top grass gets online.
@spice crypt
@keen violet
@quick compass
About Interlooper's suggestion that could be added : Discord seems to have a forum feature. Considering the amount of proposed ships, and the number of pictures, maybe would it be interesting to drop the images in that form channel and keep discussions about one specific ship in its topic. I don't know if I can name the server here, this system is used for ship finding there.
Would it be reasonable to have a voting channel for bases?
Siimilar to #nms-photomode-gallery .
That way HG might have a single place to look when considering featured bases.
Thank you for the feedback, Im704.
We're not sure if having a single place like that would be beneficial, as it can also be misleading. We don't currently know or understand the requirements Hello Games has, or the process they follow for choosing featured bases. I'd hate for members posting in the proposed "base voting channel" to assume that their bases will make some "cut," to be featured, when that's not the case. Our suggestion for now is to continue sharing beautiful screenshots of bases in #nms-photomode-gallery and to share said bases -- with their coordinates, following that channel's pinned rules & guidelines -- in #explorers-archive.
Ok.
Thought I'd ask at least.
Trying to find a way to get @golden fractal bases seen.
Thank you for the quick response!
Oh, thanks! I appreciate the help a real lot @left spoke, although i think Sean saw enough of me already a few months ago, i would 100% like them to see my newest creations aswell but creating a whole category for it...wouldn't be the way, i think
Do you have a planet address?
It was in the nursery chat and I’m just like yeah we need this guy as a dang emote.
That was Westlyn’s picture :/
We aren't adding it anyway - when people want an emoji added they should bring a nice emoji with them.
The screenlicker emoji. Denotes derpiness in a post, whether from the poster or the reader.
grins
listen here pal
Disappointment emoji, for when you discover an entire planet of birbs but can't befriend a single one
Suggestion : an channel for change my mind memes only
One memes channel is enough for now.
Discord Suggestion: swap the LFG and Trades channel for two forum channels. it can prevent some overlap in convos and missed conversation potentially.
We have plans in mind with the LFG and Trade channels as part of a channel revamp - thank you for the suggestion.
I swapped to forums in a trade discord for Ark:Survial Evolved and it was a game changer. We now have a channel for every tame and a tag for every variant and option for crossplay trading. we hit channel limit long before using forums.
Personally I don’t think posts should be reposted to the server announcements channel. For example, theres no need to post update announcements on both #nms-announcements and #discord-server-feedback.
- Today's Switch announcement was an exception we made as Switch players have been waiting for a much anticipated and delayed update that'd already been announced to all platforms 6 days ago. 2. There was an error in the announcement and as a workaround, Gleam opted to only ping Switch players in #server-announcements so they'd get their notification we'd promised.
In summary, this isn't a standard practice. So no, it likely won't happen again.
Pirating is one of many gameplay styles, we don't feel the need right now to make a channel for it specifically.
a channel for people who play permadeath
A frog channel for only funny frogs
#off-topic-bond-james-bond or #1033694005915041863 for cute pets, #memes🤡 for funny.
Friendly reminder to the channel, see channel's pinned rules. Let's avoid memery and keep server suggestions in this channel relevant.
Similar to what is stated earlier by Gleam here #discord-server-feedback message
Permadeath is one of several game modes, there's no necessity to create a separate channel for that. For grouping up with like minded players you can ask in #nms-lfg-or-trades and specify you're in permadeath mode.
Make a Gunter cult role, but you must be willing to sacrifice laylaps in game to join
No.
Laylaps, you have already been corrupted, add a Gunter cult
Amusing the first go around, let's use this for serious server suggestions though please. Thanks!
Much like Carlbot with starboard you use reactions to determine a post for #the-louvre and then later it’s posted to Twitter. (I believe that’s how it works) Carlbot places a emote on each post in the designated channel for voting so there is less often a mistake in what emote react works for voting. Is this something that could be done for us as well?
I find that a lot of high count reactions tend to be everything but the standard heart emote and I wonder if some posts get missed because of it.
Adding to this if the perm to add reactions was removed. With this setup they would only be able to react with the heart ❤️ because it would already be used by Gunter
You'll find clarification if you read "The Louvre" section of the pinned rules in #nms-photomode-gallery 🙂
We always chose to create a healthy, welcoming atmosphere in the server for everyone, allowing them the freedom to be themselves without much restrictions. Any emoji with the word "heart" in the name can be considered a potential vote. That's why you can find several "personalized" heart emojis in there.
I have read it already. It’s how I knew to suggest this. My suggestion is not one of removing freedom of expression but helping some to express themselves in the form of a more easily discerned vote is all. It’s secondary suggestion reducing expression I will admit but i thought that was clear to be a secondary part to my suggestion.
Yes! But there's no real need for that as the bot is coded to filter for heart emojis, no matter what they look like 🙂 No posts are missed.
Find a way to keep game from crashing

it be nice if we can have more people in the voice chats
More than 12? How could you possibly communicate in any meaningful way with 20 people all talking?
I've been in there with 11 others, and it's just chaos and talking over each other.
Petition to rename #the-louvre to "Louvre it or leave it".
i realised we didnt have an emoji for units... so boom... magic
< > on the links in the !nexuslink bot command, to avoid the pointless embeds
we need a command explaining how to find a dissonant system for new players or for those who don't know
Try !Faq-Interceptor in #bot-spam
(the info's also pinned in #nms-legacy-ships)
Separate The LFG and Trading channels. This would hopefully make it easier to find more people to trade and play with, without looking through multiple messages
And or make it 2 separate threads under that channel
Suggestion to rename the screenshot gallery "nms-virtual-photography" in the hopes that it would make new people that don't read pins think twice before posting inventory shots and the like. If it were effective, it could cut down on some work for the mods.
Rename #off-topic-bond-james-bond to #no-mans-cats, like #no-mans-steak🥩
Thats gonna make people think its only for cattos
Hi what do you think about adding like clans for this server like strider clan deer clan etc. would be nice.
That would divide the community
community meet ups? mass gatherings with fly throughs of different planets or planetary walks?
Our hub organizes some events every now and then. Check out #nmscord-hub channel and the pinned messages there
Id suggest posting events in discord to schedule and manage them.
You misunderstand me I think. The events portion of the discord is what I’m suggesting. This allows for members to select a “interested” button which will make discord notify them before it starts. Discord will also show their local time on the event so they can see when it will happen without extra steps. This would also allow to share a “location” which can be a VC and fun graphic as well. It saves a channel or two as well.
Yes, we use events.
it would be cool if you can add a bot that allows us to make our own temp voice/txt chats where we can open run a command and open a vc have settings like private where you can send a link to the person so they can join your priv vc and open where anyone can join! and since its priv you rules while still present ofc can be more lenient like we can stream other games in private channels and stuff like that and when everyone leaves after a certain timer the vc/txt channel gets deleted/archived @vestal condor says they have a bot that can do that.
That's lovely, you can just use private chats for that.
Beatlez get yo ass back in vc
Any verdict on common server users using the new hyperlink feature?
Their posts will be blocked.
Maybe you could take a look into Laylaps bot so that it doesn't pick every . . . as command prompt
Thank you friend-entity. I just ran it as well. Will bring it to Sir Doc's attention.
Bot should be fixed to display the emoji. Looks like whichever server you host that emoji on no longer has it available.
Thanks!
Thank you so much for the feedback. Issue fixed.
np homie
Could you update the portal FAQ to mention this?
"• For uncharted systems, obtain the glyph address of the planet from the photo mode and portal to it from another system."
The current FAQ got me confused as I thought the only way to get a planet's coordinates was by using the portal I was trying to find.
Yes, good idea
@haughty parrot 1. This channel is for feedback about our Discord server. See Topic & Pins.
2. No self-promotion if that's your stream. If it's NMS, check #content-creator-corner pins.
Ty for this suggestion, Westlyn.
After going over some ideas with the team, we've renamed the channel #nms-photomode-gallery. Hopefully, it's more clear now. 🤞 In addition to updating the channel's pins recently, we also added an !ImageHelp command with a channel guide (also pinned in the gallery channel) for newer players wanting to upload images.
hi, is there a channel where I could post a longer message that I wrote?
It's a guide for using farming, salt, and other resources for plant-based stasis device / fusion igniter creation
I'd be looking for a channel that uses the post-style format I suppose
Are you referring to Markdown in respect to format? Because that feature's been blocked in our server (and Discord also rolled it back temporarily).
We welcome guides from members. How about you run !ModHelp (any channel) which will open a private thread where we can go over the request / idea better.
Weasel's freighter disambiguation would make an excellent public command imo
insert bugs bunny OUR post meme
!Faq-Derelicts is all set

TY!
Could you make channels for people that speak another language than english? so they could talk about nms (and off-topic) in their language, like French, Italian, Spanish, and other main languages
No, it's impossible to moderate
Maybe make another channel for combat related stuff?
How d'ye mean, combat-related?
Like about space combat and sentinel ship hunting and stuff
could we replace cherry blossoms in #bot-spam by nipnip buds? (and rename #bot-spam by "bot-commands)
No and no.
Could we put cooldowns back in the main channel ? #no-mans-sky to be precise ? There's a lot of messages, i don't even have the time to read all of them
Possible to have segregated channels for each ship type ie explorer, fighter, exotic to post finds in and keep hunting for talking about ship hunting? Might be easier for people to scroll through finds if segregated by ship type?
You still would require search function at some point, and we aren't going to add 8 additional channels at this time.
Maybe if you can't read them too fast, just dont read them?
Let's try to refrain from replying to server suggestions if there's nothing to add to. The Admins make sure to reply with proper reasons when necessary.
I know you guys don't want to do the unlimited VC streaming rooms, but can we get vc 1 set back to 12 like it was for a long time before the recent unlimited attempt? 10 is just big enough too many people who want to join cant due to spectators etc.
Forums channel with tags might be easier. can have up to 20 tags per forum channel.
Would it be possible to make trade and looking for group separate channels? 😄
Do we really have so much trading only and LFG only requests that it warrants separate channels?
Sometimes
There will be a channel revamp we have been planning, irl and various other factors have delayed it a bit. The trade and group channels will be separate at that point.
Any estimations when thats gonna happen?
Nope
Can y’all make a chat so I can find other people to play with?
#nms-lfg-or-trades and if you want to join voice you can also use #nms-voice-chat but go through the pinned rules in #voice-rules first.
Change “lfg” to “looking for group” so someone can ask where the lfg channel is in a week or two
Hi! To leave suggestions for NMS and the developer Hello Games, please run !hg in #bot-spam . This channel is for server suggestions only
Lfg subchannel where there you can post your friend code, hours and time zone when you are available by bot command in bot spam to play with someone so players dont have to ask every time and wait for the responce. Some sort of lists sorted by time zones. They can just select time zone, look at the list of players pick player, dm, and join game with players that also play in the same time frame as they do.
Good idea, but I strongly assume only a fraction of people will actually do that. I would be happy to be proven wrong though.
Hey, can I request a thread in #explorers-archive for dumping discoveries of all types and formats from my community
All discoveries will be from Euclid Galaxy and be sufficiently labelled as to what they are
This would greatly enhance my community and I'm sure the NMS exploration community would appreciate this
You guys should add a channel where people can suggest game ideas or game updates (HEAR ME OUT)
I'm unclear why you wouldn't just share your community's discoveries in the same channel: #explorers-archive
Threads are incredibly cumbersome to find and impossible to search independently of the channel. So our recommendation is to use that channel. As mentioned in the top pin: #explorers-archive message if you're not yet Familiar role, you may reach out to staff confirming you've reviewed and agree to the channel's rules & guidelines, to get the Archivist role in order to post there -- you can DM or run !ModHelp in any channel to reach out to staff.
Funny emoji ?
You literally just copy and pasted the steam emoji
But this one is just not needed
Other emojis are also just inserted (
)
I'm not inclined to add more emojis, unless they are NMS related - we have too many sub par ones as is imo
Please make #game-night visible to anyone, but role still makes you get notifications, that way people can stream a game of their choice while not getting pinged in the channel because they dont want to
Just mute notifications, the server isn't for other games and if you want to stream them GameNight is the route.
Suggestion: assuming influx of new players from Apple family, who might want to discuss main game events in #nms-spoilers channel, but don't wanna see the datamined content for future updates, maybe there could be a thread for datamined content? So that people who want to see it have to open it on their own volition, instead of getting exposed just by visiting the channel.
That sounds like a good idea. Thank you
I'm always open to threads. But do note that since they're harder to find and navigate, the community must do its part to remind folks in #nms-spoilers about the thread and direct them to it for datamined discussion.
You should have a game content wiki channel
I'm afraid 1 channel for all of info about the game is not feasible. It would be a nightmare to find the right info on time. We have channels dedicated to different aspects of the game with pinned messages and a general-purpose help channel.
We already have a rule. Violations lead to cooldown increase.
Is this applicable to staff too, cause...
Yes, including present and former staff.
Excellent, I'll be certain to bring future occurences to the attention of the admin staff
Sounds good. Thank you!
List of emojis that probably won't be used anytime soon, and could be deleted for increasing the number of available slots for emojis:

I vote for a Maybe emoji - the standard yes/no ones leave me short an option XD

I need an angry emoji, personally
We have 35+ heart emoji, and not a single GraGrah
If you have emojis you want added, you will need to show them to us, and we can talk about it. We don't design the emojis.
Suggestion: Discord is starting the global username change rollout. This could lead to all kinds of scams, where scammers take names of real life people or usernames of members of community to impersonate them. How about some kind of public announcement targeted towards this issue, that members of the server should be vary of who do they engage in contact with?
More serious suggestion, (yeah the emoji was more for laughs than anything), someone mentioned a resource to display ideal post etiquette for ships, which I'm all for. I tossed this together quick as example lol.
tpose is actually an in-game model. Up until around the first multiplayer updates and when third person was added, this was a placeholder for the player model. Little bit of history, there. AFAIK, it's still in the game.
And where's that used? In one guide out of hundreds which also outdated?
People have complained about having to put color and ship type in the post, you want people to know the parts and format the post accordingly? Won't happen in a hundo years
@clever birch I'm not saying this should be set as a rule and enforced, I'm saying that promoting it as the highest standard will at least give those who actually care a proper example.
Long before you can create a new standard for everyone to use, they need to be aware that it exists lol
The ship might go away, that would be it from those you posted
Post one in #nms-legacy-ships like that
I mean, they can do that now also - everyone should always be careful with who they interact with
@spice crypt #nms-legacy-ships message I did that first, with this very ship 😛 This is the other thing I finished this morning https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/nomanssky_gamepedia/images/2/2e/FighterPalettes.png/revision/latest?cb=20230606083101&format=original
An off topic vc and possibly a no man's sky only vc
We had one and we have reasons (see pins in #nms-voice-chat) for removing it. Game Night is as far as we'll likely go for non-NMS voice Channels.
Suggestion: a command for Atlas Emissaries / Top-X to have Gunter reply a message regarding the release of the updates. Example:
We have no information about the time update 4.30 (Singularity) will be released on your platform. Each platform has it's own certification / verification procedures that are out of HG's control. As player-run community, we have no insight in said procedures and can not determine when the update will go live. This can lead to "version mismatch" error when trying to join a multiplayer session of player on different platform.
When updates for other platforms become available, a notification will be posted in #nms-news-ticker channel. You can also run the !nmsversions command in the #bot-spam channel to get a list of latest game versions for each platform.

Legends should be immune to slow mode too
Unfortunately, that's not an option Discord offers. Only members with manage message permissions (therefore only moderators) are exempt from slowmode

@keen violet an emoji suggestion:

Can we have a reminder, heads up etc of some sort in #nms-questions that it greatly shortens the time to find a solution if people gave as much background info as possible? What stage of the game are they at, was multiplayer on, what steps have they attempted to solve the issue, etc
!faq-help

❓ Need assistance? Please provide the following information (when applicable) to #nms-questions:
• Have you asked for help before about the same issue?
• What platform are you running? PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series S/X, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, PC (Steam, Game Pass, Mac or GoG?)? VR?
• Running any game mods or trainers? Did you remove or modify any game files? (PC Only).

Yeah I know that exists but obviously nobody reads it. Maybe Gunter could repeat a shortened version of this every hour like he does in #no-mans-sky ?
Suggestion: we could really use a FAQ command dedicated to modding, since most of the modding related issues can be solved quickly by troubleshooting basic steps. Example:
!faq-modding
FAQ:
How to enable and install mods >> [#nms-modding message](/guild/146101654981312513/channel/377229206351773696/)
How to use AMUMMS to compile mods >> https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky/mods/2626
Mods do work in Multiplayer >> [#nms-modding message](/guild/146101654981312513/channel/377229206351773696/)
Tips:
Always check the correct path and contents of the MODS folder! Example: (need to provide a proper screenshot)
Game updates break mods - check if your mods have been updated: https://www.nexusmods.com/nomanssky?tab=updated
Suggestion: add a Sentinel Hunter Role, for the person who likes destroying sentinels here 🙂
Suggestion: Since people are people and thus incapable of following basic rules, perhaps the names of certain games like Starfield should be disallowed in the main chat for a while.
They won't read that either, easier to shove the FAQ in their face
We will discuss it
Just perpetuates the chatter when that gets blocked
Comparisons are inevitable
sigh Fine
How about a soundboard? And to select the sounds, we could do an event (some sort of vote) to decide the sound effect that will be added, or we could choose sound effects from No Man's Sky
Is it possible for Laylaps’ reminder DMs to include a channel link? E.g. to #bot-spam
Try using Gunter's !TimelyReminder which will do that
It does the reminders, but it doesn’t link me back to the bot spam channel. I’m just wondering if that’s a possible small QoL thing.
The DM from Gunter's reminder for .timely does link you back. Just run !TimelyReminder to set it.
Oh, is that different than the button selection per .timely run? I’ve set it now. 👍
we need a ship rating section, where you can post a ship of any kind that you have and people will rate their names and such
#nms-legacy-ships: Read the pinned rules and channel topic. This channel is meant for all type of ship chats. 🙂
Stop muting everyone for off topic
I have a server suggestion/request for within the LFG channel. As I was just mentioning to someone in LFG, a message of this nature would bear being put on a timed/spammed timer (maybe 2-3 hours would be a good interval?)
Fyi, playing story in multiplayer, or multiplayer in general before reaching the anomaly, is heavily discouraged.
One example #nms-lfg-or-trades message
could surely be optimised
If you fail to obey the rules, which being offtopic falls into, there is nothing wrong with getting muted, warned or similar. You agreed to this when joining the server, remember?
Thank you, Shadow. I wasn't gonna tag you again.
...Just quoted you directly.
Run your own server and do what you want there. Here you will follow the rules, or you won’t be around long.
There's a hour limit for messages
If you have an issue with a moderator action, run !modhelp in any channel. Your vague statements here aren’t appropriate. We keep records for every single moderator action. No one has been banned unfairly, nor will they be.
Suggestion: seeing how we got !spoilers and !spoilertag, maybe it would be better to rename one of these commands to help differentiate them more? Maybe something like !faq-spoiler for the text / image spoiler guide, since it is technically a frequently asked question?
!Faq-Spoiler will work the same as !SpoilerTag, showing a spoiler tag how-to.
!Spoilers can be used as a spoilers reminder in any of our NMS channels. I also made sure to pin it in #no-mans-sky.
Make an international chat
We're an international server, but everyone must post in English.
@keen violet What about possibly allowing 1 thread per different language attached to off-topic? Ive got no skin in the game, but I figured its an idea that may not have been considered
I fully understand why channels for other languages is a hard no, but threads are far less intrusive, and auto-archive when inactive. Would basically just need to make clear that players should always search for a specific language thread prior to making a new one.
There's no way for us to moderate that in multiple languages.
@keen violet Ah, yeah my apologies, apparently "fully understand" wasnt quite accurate due to failing to remember that was part of the reason. Oops
create a lfg forum channel which would include things like, need building help, clan recruitment, need help with exploration, trades, or the casual I am new and need help on how to play the game.
If you're wondering why it's because the current lfg channel is just a chat. It is good and all but I think a forum channel would be more appropriate for something like that. People could use say the "trades" tag in the forum channel to see things up on the market for sale, like companion eggs, or other items. The same thing can be said for all of the other potential tags I suggested. Not to mention it could probably be easier to moderate given that it is more organized. If something is going against the rules the admins can simply delete the post instead of deleting like 50 messages.
I beg you, please add this guy as an emoji
He's so majestic
There is a full god damn lore behind it
Not a suggestions, but a thank you for adding the release notes link in with Gunter bot #nms-news-ticker posts. Very nice.
So I think similarly to the races rule, major servers should adopt a taboo on Likholu, no comment without first linking an faq properly explaining the danger in this server, as example.
Many players who find out about it like to troll by reverse psych, trying to trick others into getting there by whatever means.
While I normally dont mind endlessly answering the same common questions, having to dispel the same common trolls shouldnt be a thing, and wouldnt if people could verify the info more easily.
Don’t know how much of a hassle it would be but could @fluid crystal ping me when a new Switch or Mac release drops in #nms-news-ticker ?
I’d go over to #roles and self-assign a (📰 ) or (📰
) role thereby receiving a notification every time a new release comes out.
(📰
) and (📰
) available upon request
Not sure if this has been discussed before but are we ever going to change the server icon back to normal?
How about to add nms nerd emoji?🤓
New quick guide @ruby trench :
Changing Default Spawn After Scrap
- With your desired default ship, find a wrecked ship, and trade your desired default ship for it.
- Summon your current default ship (default spawn after scrap), Exchange it for your desired default ship.
- Hop in the wrecked ship, Exchange it for the (now) previous default ship.
Can there be a new channel called #nms-planetnames
This goober needs to be a server emoji. He's too godly not to be
hello! I would like to suggest country roles 😄
So 195 roles?
Continent Roles. 🙂
Or galaxy roles
add a nms stream that has no maximum user count
How about a forum for just games (rather than #other-games) with each post made for a single game type/universe? That way 'other' media can be a part of #off-topic-bond-james-bond.
Possibly a channel for all things related to freighters?
#nms-legacy-ships and our FAQ + QnA in #nms-questions channel covers everything, usually. 🙂
we need server stickers, and more particularly, this gek
A cmd players can give to other users in saying thanks and it gives the user some exp in the sever is there is a leveling system
Just chat and say thanks... every 5 minutes any message in any channel except #bot-spam will add to the exp.
a larval core emoji
Maybe add something like a self promo channel? (nms related content ONLY)
how do I get the role?
Read the pins in that channel
Dharan for admin

No
Why Dharan?
Doesn't matter, people aren't nominated for trial mod, mod or admin.
Oo we're nominating people for mod?? I nominate myself
Idk I think bro at least has earned an offer for the admin position
That's lovely, no.
@real sigil Appreciate the support, but Gleam and the others know I have no interest in a mod position here - I keep myself too busy to accept the added responsibilities in good conscience.
Hi can we have a server for players who are looking for people to team up with to start from scratch, work as a team to build bases grow find planets, ships, collect resources together etc
We have #nms-lfg-or-trades channel to form groups, seek out other players with similar interests etc., currently. There are plans for an overhaul of LFG channel in future. 🙂
Quick suggestion, on the 1st will there be a starfield thread? Was just thinking it may be an idea since it'll get pretty crowded in #other-games and not everyone will have access to the game yet
little idea i've got: replace "PC" role with two roles, "Windows" and "Linux/Steam Deck"
edit: looked roles up, so, correction: change "PC" to "Windows" and "Steam Deck" to "Linux/Steam Deck"
I don't think that's a good idea. Linux runs the same build of the game as Windows does through Proton. Also Windows could relate to the MS Store / Gamepass version of the game, so I see that as potentially misleading.
from what i know, deck runs same build too, but it has separate role here
Yup it does run the same build. And PC VR also is it's own category. Maybe staff divided it so to help players using those different kinds of hardware find each other for gameplay or help related purposes?
you got my vote
I have an idea for a punsihment for being annoying for bad in vc, they have to sing a song of choice (vote or something) or get banned or whaterver other punishment, in frount of everyone on stage, once per week have all the people sing like a concert
well, help steps applicable for steam deck also apply for Linux, but those for windows may not apply for Linux
PCVR could act as addendum role tho
It'd be cool if there was a music suggestions channel. Where we can post the links to songs on YouTube or Spotify.
Update
to Vali's new outfit for consistency
i can make a new one if the angle feels wrong
#no-mans-sky message
Make this an emoji
I don't actually know how to alert mods of bad behavior because I usually never run into it on this server, but there's someone being pretty toxic in the modding channel
Thank you for bringing this up! In the future you can ping moderators or run !modhelp in any channel <3.
dropping a private message to mods should be an option too, just in case, but that's just my opinion
Yes, that is also an option! :).
- You may run the !ModHelp command or DM a moderator if you need server assistance.
- If you have a concern with someone's post, we welcome reports but let's abstain from using language that instigates or escalates an argument (i.e. "GTFO"). Thanks.
Yes you're right. It's not the first time I've received this kind of toxic response about what platform I was using and I was just a bit sick of it, but I'll try to refrain next time.
I recently started playing with Dyno's custom command module, and came up with a simple but awesome tool.
I named the cmd "oo", used thusly:
/oo +star+system
will return the result:
https://www.google.com/search?q=nms+wiki+star+system
@serene lichen
The internal nav on Fandom sites is horrible - I use Google to navigate em in the 1st place anyways, so my 1st custom command is a Google Wikisearch XD
:geksus:
(may be too big? i have 256x256 if needed)
posting 256x version
Oh how cute
Suggestion: to update the !faq-update command to have it ready for the Echoes update (once actual game version will be known)
The existing !Faq-Update contains universal language that applies to any update
!Faq-Update
Each platform has its own certification / verification procedure that's out of the developer's control. As a player-run community, we have no insight on said process and cannot determine when any given update will go live. This can lead to "version mismatch" error when trying to join a multiplayer session of a player on a different platform.
For news from Hello Games about the latest update, run !WhatsNew, follow #nms-announcements & grab #roles
to get pinged. Check #nms-news-ticker or run !NmsVersions for latest platform updates.

i love this cold expression so much like.. nuh uhhh
(:GekNuhUh:?)
no questions needed just a new emoji
There should be a role that pings you whenever the ticker gets something for the console you play on
Here's a suggestion: would it be possible to set gunter up so that any faq command in #nms-questions not directed at a specific user would give that 'please use bot-spam' message?
The main technical issue with that request is that most members, who are directing an FAQ at someone after a question, don't pass a username/tag to that command. And in those cases, there's no way for Gunter to recognize if that's a legit command execution from a frequent helper such as yourself, or if it's a user not reading the suggestion that they execute FAQ commands in #bot-spam. And we certainly don't want to stop anyone from running FAQ commands in that channel when answering questions. We'll monitor the channel and try to figure out ways to circumvent the main concern we assume you're raising, seeing some members running FAQ commands in #nms-questions when not answering questions. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.
@spice crypt
Hey there
Curious as to why this was rejected:
We already have enough roles for the various platforms as it is, that adding three to four exclusive roles just for specific platform pings doesn't seem sensible for us at this time, especially based on a single suggestion for it.
However, we understand that Switch players do tend to have longer than usual release delays, and when it comes to larger updates such as Echoes in this case, we can make an exception post in #nms-announcements, pinging the NMS Announcements role once the update is released to that platform. We can evaluate delays for other platforms to follow suit, although Switch seems to be the only one with this issue so far.
Thank you very much for the suggestion 🙂
I was actually curious about this but, would it be possible for someone to set up a massive discord server hub planet?
!HubWelcome @sweet fulcrum
@sweet fulcrum

Our Hub is a casual & welcoming in-game system in Euclid, where NMS players can meet & share in different ways, as we do in our Discord. Players belonging to other in-game civilizations are welcome. We have no organized political structure -- no alliances, militias, forced censuses, roleplaying, or required play times. We foster a relaxed atmosphere with no prerequisites. Everyone's welcome to visit & build. If players suggest & organize in-game activities as a communal effort, we'll add them to Discord 📆 Events & announce them in #community-news. For notifications, grab the 🌇 Hub Announcements role in #roles. To learn more about our Hub, including how to get there, please review the
Pins (in #nmscord-hub).
Other helpful Hub commands:
!HubVideo - Hub's showcase video.
!HubSystem - Coordinates & other important system info.
!HubRide - If you don't have glyphs unlocked, you can request a ride to our Hub.
this on' the sound board
Maybe allow players to talk about no mans sky in comparison to other games in the nms chat. Because it's not off topic, and it felt rather rude the way it was pointed out.
Red asked multiple times starting at 1610 EST for chat to be on topic, including showing the channel rules. 4 minutes later people are still talking about Starfield. At that point she told everyone there would be timed mutes. The channel rules are the channel rules.
If you have an issue with moderators, run !modhelp in any channel.
Hi,
It would be great if we could have this pinned as a reference sheet for the ||staves|| at least until someone makes a dedicated graph for it.
Thanks
Pinned in #nms-multitools
This channel is for suggestions you wanna see in the server, not for the game. We have a different route for that. You can share your in-game suggestions and/or bug reports using their zendesk.
!hg
You can submit bug reports, suggestions or feedback to Hello Games here: https://hellogames.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
Add a Community Suggestion tab in the Server so people can recommend features for No Man's Sky Updates instead of the Website because people might think that it is sketchy that a random company wants their email
We have the #nms-the-future channel for the community to share and discuss ideas. However, to submit more official suggestions that you'd like Hello Games to see, we recommend using their Zendesk. Info below (which we've got pinned in most NMS channels including here).

I keep making emojis lol
:PatGek: perhaps?
Less a suggestion as something I noticed. In the last day or so, Laylaps has been reminding me of my rewards drops, but Gunter was hours late yesterday nd hasn't so far today. Thought you might wanna check his flippery code.
Gunter is transitioning through some tough times, due to some unforeseen issues his batteries aren't charged to the max, this is preventing him from performing at peak strength.
(basically power failure issues at Doc's)
Archive #nms-arg-2023 or at least move it down to off-topic or archive
split the channel with memes in half: the first half for nms memes, and the second half for regular ones
Less a suggestion, more of a "bug report", the permadeath role seems to be inaccessible:
Hmm, I see 2 reacts for that permadeath there
