i mean, the category makes sense, this channel is meant to discuss the ideas of improving gameplay for those who are disabled and even offering ways to say complete a quest or do a skill like fishing that improves the quality of gameplay for them
i think overall its up to the mods to consider the name change but also for us to just inform people that this may not be the right channel for their questions, there will always be those people who never bother to read or maybe they are new to discord and they dont know what they are doing so its always nice to just say "hey, you might get your answer better in say #🐣│palia-newbies rather than here"
i guess im confused why #console-zone is up there then
also just a funny me thing: constantly misreading it as a verb console as in “consolation” 😂 because the console experience is a bit of a struggle
Hi
I think the mods will be agreeable to discussing a channel name change to help direct some of the traffic to more appropriate channels, so that this channel can stay reserved for accessibility/disability convos. They've been very helpful with some other QoL things for the channels lately.
Accommodations discussion?
Or Accommodations and Accessibility?
Nice suggestion Minavae! I'm curious what other think about 'accomodations'?
I figure it gives the "accessibility" context to weed out the stuff that doesn't really apply in this channel
This is one of the wisest ways to look at it that I've ever seen!
... 👀 I was lowkey lurking / reading through your discussions and there are a couple things worth mentioning!
- We will be cleaning up the server channels. As moderators, we definitely agree that the channels have gotten away from us - some of these changes will start at the beginning of September! Nothing life-altering, promise... we just took a look at which channels are actually utilized vs. those that aren't.
- You can absolutely suggest a name-change for this channel. For those of you who are regulars in this space, you are our best bet for what you think would make sense and help this channel as a whole.
If there's a consensus around a name that makes more sense, feel free to open up a ModMail ticket. You can even say, "Anner sent me," if it feels intimidating.
We need an in game way to delete progress, this need to be far more accessible.

what kind of progress would you want to delete?
need to be able to reset our characters without having to reach out to support and wait, I started WAY earlier than my Fiancé and have no clue what i am doing, plus new tutorial stuff was implemented since i started, so i want to restart for the sake of learning and being on par with her.
could you create a new account?
i would just have to get support to do the account unlinking too cuz i play on steam, which would be just as long a wait as the reset
i COULD make a new account but why should that be the answer, that seems ridiculous to me
yeah. the feedback form linked above is the only place you can send that directly to s6, but it’s a common request. hopefully they’ll make it self-service like they did with name changes.
the more who ask, the more likely it is to happen sooner
👍
I'm going through same thing right now cause I have purchases linked to my account but it's been days for them not to respond so far.
But anyway, any thought about bring TTS to Palia? while I'm not blind I still have issues reading paragraphs of text so I normally put TTS on when it comes to having to read in games- everything blurs together whenever I try and read stuff, so it sucks when they don't have it.
!feedback would be the best place to let the devs know, info on that can be found below. Text to speech would help with a bunch of things, but isn't in the game currently and if I remember correctly also hasn't been announced. Certainly let the devs know if you need it!
Also, there might be external screen readers that you could use, I'm no expert in software but they might be a workaround.

Gonna read this whole thread (slowly) but putting in my request for a setting (or mod, etc) that highlights the bugs after the ! shows - and fish once hooked. I struggle post cataract to see em. Not a biggy just a respectful ask. BTW, I am loving the game, just finished Prisimbeard quest and WOW.
Hello, and welcome! Just so you know, the devs aren't guaranteed to see your message here, to let them know about it please consider leaving some feedback. Better visible fish and bugs are certainly something many players have asked for.
For the fishes at least, one workaround would be to stand in such a way that there's something between you/the camera and the bobber once the camera is in the fishing minigame view. That turns the bobber bright yellow, and makes it way easier to see.

Do you need help/are you lost in the channels?
heads up patch trailer has the usual - flashes from watering, hunting, and a new outfit effect
omg thank you
there's a new outfit that flashes? like
is it a cinematic flashy or is it actually strobing/bright flashing in game?
those arrows are flashy, that honestly confirms to me they 1000% don't care a single bit about causing seizures and other photosensitivity reactions
@blazing laurel the heart arrows cause flashes that trigger migraines and seizure symptoms. please, please stop putting photosensitivity triggers on sale
!feedback (instructions below) are generally a better way to let the devs know about something than random pings in this server :-) Chief Chapaa Officer might not even have any input into cosmetics, arrows or flashes...

Great! Just figured I should let you know in case you don't.
ty
I want everyone to do it so it's a flood of complaints instead of a handful of people
It's certainly a common request in here.
photosensitivity reactions aren't common but they do suck and injure people badly.
I've seen people talk about seizures and being sent to the hospital because s6 is ignoring it
they had mentioned doing an accessibility audit with minecraft devs but I guess that must have been scrapped
They wanted to do it this summer iirc, implementing whichever findings they have will take a while for sure. Several months minimum, unless it's already been worked on before the audit.
sure, that isn't an excuse for them actively adding more flashing things and putting them on sale in the meantime though
Fair, I agree that many new items are bad with flashing. However, even those the audit likely wouldn't have prevented - deving for them started a while ago, too, and the decision to have them flash was likely made quite a while ago as well.
(I'm not saying this to say something against you, just trying to say the audit might still help.)
I also don't think it's entirely fair to make a request that items that aren't useful to some to "not go on sale" or to not add them at all. There's still a fairly large player base audience that would like items like these to go on sale and still be created because they would like to own the items like this. The fairest request is to continue to implore the company to use proper photosensitivity warnings and proper VFX toggles for people like me and maybe you who have health issues triggered by flashing lights. We shouldn't prevent others from enjoying a nice sale or getting new items because of our issues, there's a better compromise somewhere in there than going to the extreme of preventing all from having a fun item.
How can I turn off vibration for fishing /hoeing .. it's down to 0 but still vibrating
Which console are you using Bex?
Ps5
Follow this link to console zone and see if it changing that setting helps: #🎲│console-zone message
I tried to change it ... It doesn't let me ?
It's stuck on high?
Fixed it
Thank you x
Okay good, glad it worked!
i personally would be completely okay with pausing all sales if there were people being injured by the items going on sale, with things that I am not impacted by.
I don't want to have them gone for everyone or ruin anything, I want them to add a toggle to turn them off on client side which they've already talked about quite a while ago. and there are so many items that they could choose for going on sale other than the small handful of flashing ones. honestly just from a financial standpoint there are other items that would rake in more money if they were to go on sale, too.
I don't like to make speculations on what I think the company's financial positions are or are not, but I do agree a VFX toggle not only for weapon skins/outfits but for animations in game would be of huge assistance for many people.
😄
hello ! why can I not post a message in the palia-discussions channel ? it gets immediately blocked !
^^ a mod resolved the above issue for this player
hiii so on the loading screen, one of the tips listed mentions a “motion sickness” section in the settings that we can adjust in case we start feeling motion sick. however i seem to be struggling to find it? is that loading screen tip referring to a specifically titled section, or just settings that are related to motion sickness?
There is a setting for motion sickness that enables you to put a cursor on screen to help track. What system are you on?
pc/windows
I can't remember what it would be titled as in PC settings or what category they put it in, but the above message points to what you could look for in the settings.
Ah, I see Cel said there isn't a specific setting labeled this, but you can see the other settings you can see on the menus
thank yooouuuu
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wWfFBIaYLoGnNL0t3GOqanktEieB6D99swchDsFc6Pw/edit?gid=0#gid=0 there's some suggested motion sickness settings here
thank you tooooo
I think it would be cool to see an enlarge HUD feature so being legally blind Instruggle to see the grid map above and I sometimes struggle to see the tool box or inventory bar on the bottom right. Also I think a highlight option to make certain insects easier to see especially green on green

Yes the feedback form/link goes directly to the dev team, who would best be suited to receive accessibility requests like yours 🙂
Yeah that process was easy
Im wondering if there is something that can make fishing more accessible? Is this the place to post? An issues ove been experiencing playing Palia is fishing causes my Carpal Tunnel to act up very quickly. I have it in both hands unfortunately and its not yet to a point I can have surgery to just fix it. So I suffer pain and numb tingling hands for days and weeks once its triggered. I want to be able to fish and have many I still need to get but its painful having to hold buttons, reel, move another button etc. Its a lot of strain on the hands, fingers, wrist etc. Im also a console user (I cant afford a pc or special mouse), unfortunately there isnt a good controller made for carpal tunnel or arthritic or other hand issues. So already holding the controller puts strain on the wrists/nerve. How can we make fishing more accessible for people? I cant go more than a few min fishing without having tingling start in my hands so I feel like im never gonna catch any of these epic/rare fish i need for accomplishments.
!feedback There's unfortunately not any additional settings in the game to make this easier, besides turning off vibration features on the controller to alleviate that strain. However, many people share your sentiment that fishing needs an update for accessibility. You can send your feedback directly to the dev team via the first link in the comment from the bot below my comment.

Idk which console you're on, but since buying a Power A Nano-troller for my switch, it really helped my carpal tunnel & wrist pains a lot as its a slightly smaller controller. I found xbox etc made it worse as its chunky
Does anyone know if the DEVELOPERS can make the text size bigger for visually impaired. Hard to follow the storyline even in a TV (switch) because I have a tough time reading the text! Please HELP! We need MORE ACCESSIBILITY FUNCTIONS! Been playing since the beginning and it is becoming a huge ACCESS ISSUE!
!feedback it's not currently an option for that in game, but hopefully with more people asking (and the ongoing/upcoming accessibility audit) UI and text scaling will get bumped up the priority list

Could you possibly move from your switch to a computer? It would be a lot easier in theory to see what is on the screen.
They stated even on a tv its difficult to read so a computer wouldnt help.
Just was a thought.
I have made several suggestions since trying the game yesterday in the feedback section here. Fellow VI/legally blind person here
UI scaling sliders are a very common request, and something i really hope they implement. everyone deserves to be able to play the game. many people without VIs find the HUD quite crowded as well. it would make the game much better for everyone.
Absolutely agreed. Only been playing a day but enjoying it
And mine was just letting you know.
😄
Patch notes have 2 videos (animation of flower pot placement, watering, and growing plus the new outfit vfx) thay don't autoplay for me and one gift (rotating through new name plates) thay does so they should be sager than usual to read through
The outfit video is kind of flashy especially at the start, in case anyone is wondering about that.
New listed known issue is actually an accessibility feature people have been asking for "The yellow highlight on fish may appear even when nothing is blocking your view." 🤦♀️
heres hoping that ‘bug’ happens a lot and the general playerbase enjoys it and asks to keep it
im so ready for the new actual accessibility feature “New Tool and Emote Accessibility Setting” that opens the selection wheels with a single button press not holding down while selecting

It was worth a try 😂😭
the bloom event in kilima is pretty chill - ||watering animation, plants pop into existence, gold particle glow like the purple one groves have, you just water and weed and pick up the plants & pods, it sticks around for awhile and you don't have to water or weed to pick up, despawns slowly last item was gone at 4:50pm in game time, it sounded like people in parties were getting occasional double loot|| without spoilers, the event is relaxed, relative low vfx, and easy
not sure if i'm doing something wrong, misunderstanding, or it's just not there but i still have to hold down T or R and hold while moving my mouse to select
Go into gameplay settings and scroll down to "Radial Menu Setting." Mine was on hold to open as default

No. My name got banned and I’ve been going back and forth with support but they take fooooreveeeeer to respond. I was hoping they can pass along the word. 😂😂

That looks like it'd be amazing for the "uh where's my fish everything is blue!" issue...
gfyggdddsg ffn
is that your kid touching your phone😂
Or a cat
i m waiting for her reaction when she gonna see all those messages... hope there's nothing bad in behind😂
Are there settings for sight impaired people for fishing? I’m having a bit of a hard time
no not really, as far as im aware, there are no in game settings you can change that can help with fishing, though there are workarounds
the fishing bobber can be changed by buying any of them from einar's guild store, though this will mean you need to level up to level 10 to have access to his guild store in the first place
you can position yourself behind a wall in a way that once you start reeling in, it will obstruct your vision, to counteract that, the game highlights the fish in yellow to help you see it along with the usual brackets as shown here #♿│accessibility-discussions message
What do we think about this? I'm both happy that there's this warning but I still wonder, maybe it's the phrasing?
Does anyone has the purple floatfish to trade?
This channel is about disability-related accessibility and topics related to that, https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1326268508417429584 would be the better channel
will upping the "effects" and "emitter spawn rate scale" help me see the bloom event aura thing from further away or is it a different setting?
No unfortunately not. The aura needs to be recoded by S6 to be more visible.
ah okay, thanks for the reply
I'm unable to do the Piksii bounce minigame due to motor function disability, and being unable to grow them from seeds from existing plants means I have to request the plant from other players.

Hi there! Do you need help something accessibility-related? If you just want to send a general screenshot, #1162052326769565776 might be a better place :-)
Don't think I've seen that, where/when is it? I have the notification in game set to only new, but its broken so I get nothing
@tender ember sorry lol after rereading my msg it's super unclear, brainforg really one hell of a state. i wanted to know if it sounded fine to everyone and not "if u get hurt it's on you" ish. I personally don't think so but I dont trust my judgement on its own, since I don't have epilepsy.
I dont even think one needs to be epileptic to want to know their thoughts on it I'm just interested to know what the best way of phrasing things like this is
if that makes sense dfdfg
i have epilepsy and don’t have any problem with the wording. i’m just bummed it took them so long to add the warning, and that it only shows up once.
i’ve never heard of the “cover one eye” thing before
i guess i should invest in a gaming eye patch?
yeah this one in particular made me wonder! but I've also heard of that being a method in helping young children with epilepsy? but like kindergarten age. altho there's also those glasses meant to lower brightness!!! lemme see if i can find a picture
gaming eye patches for us all, new market lol
the one eye cover thing is something i do in real life for my light processing/photosensitive/neurological issues, but i noticed this was absent from this warning in general.
also, i can't remember if this ever comes up again besides when you first play the game.
Pinhole glasses!!!
sorry, what was “absent from the warning”? /gen wording is a bit confusing for me
oh sorry! the photosensitivity warning focuses on epilepsy, but a general mention for neurological issues triggered by light/flashes was absent.
Youre all good, i think the wording is fine, plus sometimes these issues can affect people who arent epileptic too!
ah these. i don’t personally find them useful, but it’s neat they exist. my epilepsy is early adult onset, so if cover one eye is primarily used for children, that’s probably why i never got recommended it.
Oh yeah that's true! Stuff less known like the photic sneeze reflex and such (that's the only specific term i know for niche photosensitivity issues, even tho i got those from being autistic and HSD ig)
@grizzled musk tbh that's just my experience in France, who knows how disabled culture developed elsewhere
ah i see! (pun unintended) i think it’s pretty standard for game warnings to only address epilepsy/potential to cause seizures. it would be nice for companies to address that epilepsy is not the only medical conditions that is triggered by lighting, sudden lighting changes, etc.
So the Bloom uses a recolored Grove particle effect, right? Is that why it's hard to see, since Grove happens at night and would be tougher to see in daylight?
Its bright orange, and ive only found it hard to see from far away but i suspect that may be because im on nintendo switch, but if youre finding it difficult to see you may be able to adjust your daylight settings in the settings feature?
They're going to have to recolor on the S6 side, I don't think our available settings can make it better to see (i tried a lot, couldn't get it to work for me); I cannot see the haze at all unless I am either right up on it and can see it just before getting under it; and then it disappears entirely when you're right under it. it's barely visible from afar as well. It needs to be much denser and a different color that doesn't blend in so well with the surroundings.
Where do we vote for the plushy?
Hi, this channel is for accessibility questions, might be better off in #💬│palia-general or #🦋│issues-discussions
Sorry, thank you
No worries love!
The discussion on wording reminded me of the channel name discussion, I feel like it fell asleep a little...
Is that still an open issue?
I am on Switch too, I can see it up close but not far away. I just meant that it has a slight glow, which is more noticeable at night. So as long as it's a draw distance thing then that makes more sense, I just wasn't sure, thanks! 😊
Yeah i suspect so then, cause when i get closer its definitely brighter, its hard to see at all from a distance so i often rely on the chat calling out where it is if i havent found it!
can't see if from within it and can't see it until you get close to it, plus the lack of contrast
Oh weird, idk then whats happening on yours! I can only speak on what ive seen
I was on server with someone in every location and the person at the location it was going to spawn at couldn't see the glow, but I could just across the river from it until I went a little further away or when I ran into it
there's been asks for the purple/pink flow grove glow to be visible from further away since it was added too, but that has more contrast, the glow of the tree trunks, and an audio cue to go with it so it's easier to see than the kilima flower grove
The flowers glow has audio too
it does not have the directional audio cue that can be heard from half the map so that you know where to go though
I have never heard the audio associated with the bloom event! It would be much better if it was directional audio and you could hear it across the map.
Wait there is audio for Grove? This is why you don't play games on mute, people! Lol
almost everything has audio cues! (which is weird that the bloom event doesn't have one like that)
- every foragable has a different sound
- star quality bugs
- spooked bugs
- piksii blossom bounce starting soon if you're in the deep woods
- grove spawned - this one is directional and covers about half the map
- count down to start of the market games if you're near them
- street lights that lead to elderwood central stables
That's actually amazing! I will need to start wearing headphones, then! (I play on mute so as not to annoy my many other family members haha)
wait wow how far away does the grove audio travel? i dont think i’ve ever recognized it until im right there at the trees
i always rely on the chat callouts or running around until i see it, for the new flowers event too, i agree the sky effect should have more contrast
Never noticed street lights in Elderwood either
you can only hear it if it's on the same side of the map as you -- so if it's north bahari, and you're in south, you're probably not going to hear it (unless it's very close to the "border" between the two sections)
actually, there’s a spot you can hear it wherever it spawns except for two locations (which narrows down where it is.) i used it as an exercise in trying to hear directional noise since i only have one ear that kinda works
(deaf and hoh)
ooh where is this magical spot you speak of
same place you get jewelwings. stand on the edge of the cliff overlooking the lighthouse direction. since it usually spawns up north, you’re typically first to it if it’s in the south (bonus if it spawns where you are!) if not, there’s a fairly close fast travel point, and you can hear it in flooded fortress because the sound travels through the mines.
awesome explanation thank you!
i get disoriented a lot on the maps even with the compass
i do wish there was a minimap but i heard the devs dont want to
and it’s very slow to check the big map on switch
yeah, they want to “encourage exploration”, but it’s really hard to explore if you don’t know where to go or where you’ve been 😓
yeah mostly i end up taking the ‘wrong hallway’ over and over until i give in and check the map at every choice to go left or right which isnt exploring at all

I agree that being able to unbind it would be good, I've heard a software called AutoHotkey recommended in here that might help, if you're interested in workarounds.

And I appreciate that but I've DONE the feedback. Plenty of times. And it seems like a super simple fix since EVERYTHING else can be rebound
I agree that from the outside it looks like a simple fix, and it's frustrating. But there's not much more other players can do besides trying to figure out workarounds and recommending people to leave feedback in the official channels (not just here).
I'm just wondering if there's any way to get in contact with anyone about it because apparently tickets aren't the way to do it. It's been a lot of dead ends for a simple addition that I've inquired about since mid 2023.
There's none, at least none that I'm aware of.

When fishing on PC, the fish are highlighted yellow for easy visibility. On Switch, this doesn't happen unless a wall or opaque object blocks the view. Switch should have the yellow highlight the entire time just like PC.
This is a new "bug" listed in the August patch notes of "known issues" and is not standard for PC or any console. It will likely get reverted when they do next month's patch. You can always submit feedback to ask that it stays as a feature.
Please head over to Tech Help. This channel is for accessibility and disability discussions.
i made sure to ask lacie to let them know we love this “bug” last time she popped into chat at the same time as i!
Made a feedback request called "keep fish highlight"
Hello! I am new here. I am a person of disability and accessability issues and have noticed some things in the game that make it difficult to play. Is this the right channel to bring up the topic?
!feedback to tell the devs, for discussion with other players here is the right spot.

That might be handy info for the folks over in #💻│tech-help , it's not really related to disabilities or accessibility :-)
Thank you! ❤️
Here are some issues I am having in terms of color blindness and vision issues:
I have an issue with my vision, and there are somethings that would greatly benefit me (and others who also have issues with their vision). A mode where you can change the colors for color blindness would be amazing. I also cannot see the bugs that well. The shiny ones are fine, but the regular ones, if I can see them and they move, I can not find them due to them blending in too well. Maybe the color blind mode to make them stand out from the green grass so I can see them? I also have a hard time seeing things in the elderwoods, I have the brightness set up high and I still cannot see what is in front of me most of the time due to how dark it is.
I am not a developer or have any knowledge of that scope. I do apologize if this is a known issue or something that it is not a feasible issue to fix. Just wanted to bring to ya'lls attention. I do love the game, I know it is in beta, and thank you for what you do ❤️
Thank you! That was something I was kind of glad was bugged 😂.
In the settings, under "calibrate screen", there are some colour blindness filters. I don't know how well they work, but since they're a bit hidden I wanted to mention them just in case.
Also, that exact message sounds like it'd be an amazing feedback. I know I'm a bit harping on that, just think it's important to let the devs know :-)
yeah I have it on, it kinda helps but not all the way. ok I will post there as well! Thank you ❤️
You're welcome! There unfortunately aren't many options.
I just remembered, once again I don't have much experience with it but the bugs at least in theory make a sound. Obviously it's not perfect for finding them, but maybe that helps? (Once again no personal experience, my sound is switched off.)
If you are playing on the PC, you can turn down the foliage to make crawling bugs easier to see. Go to Settings: Graphics Settings: Graphics Quality: Foliage to lower the setting.
Is there an option to turn off the outfit/costume sound effects?
I noticed some of the outfits have sparkly twinkly or whirring sound effects and it bothers me so much sensory-wise
Sadly, not yet.
ah darn
well ty for telling me :o
Supposedly in the works through, just no eta
oh! okay
in that case- I was going to send palia a message about some accessibility suggestions I have
can someone help me determine if these are in the works at the moment? Im new to the game so idk where to find if some stuff is in the works or not
You can always send in your feedback even if it's in the works, it's important they know how wanted/needed these items are.
oh okay!!

then I shall go ahead and do the thing ty!!
Something I've realised would be helpful today, when im watering a lot of things my finger gets tired holding the trigger, would be good to have an option to tap once to start & tap to stop. Powerwash simulator does this
yeah it was a specific dev who said it was on their list, shouldn't be terribly hard, and was starting on it back in may (#♿│accessibility-discussions message) so it might have been forced into proper prioritization procedures and pushed to the back burner. or it could be in the next update - who knows! but sending in feedback should (if they're operating that way) help show it has value to the player base.
You can pull this off by starting to water, then pulling up the chat while still holding down the "watering" button. You can then release the button and exit the chat thing and you'll still be watering 🙂 Another kfierce scene yt tip
Ooh ill try this thanks
I use it all the time. It helps. I hope my explanation made sense
Hey can I ask is there any way to add a prompt or reminder of the timed events in each map I know I have the sound but maybe a option to add a pop up reminder or something so I can get places on time I really struggling to remember where to be when and with so many events now I'm getting a bit overwhelmed
Hello! I think it’d be a good idea to have an option when fishing to keep the fish highlighted yellow as it’s sooo much easier to see! TIA ❤️

Id like this too!
Both you and @oak sluice Keep in mind to leave feedback too, here only other players will see it (S6 may, but it's not guaranteed). Thanks! :-)
it’s listed as a bug in the patch notes, but when lacie was on, i asked if she’d let the team know that we’d love to keep it!
i’m glad they made the bloom during the day — having maji market, grove, and piksii bounce all at night is a LOT.
i find i have to use outside timers on my phone to keep track of when events are if i really want to get to them. they have the in-game sun/moon “clock” in addition to the actual time in the upper right, but i don’t find it particularly intuitive and it’s pretty out of the way. the audio cues for both the time changes and events aren’t super helpful if i’m not specifically listening for them because, well, kinda hard when you only have one working ear and it doesn’t hear too well
and i need the phone timers to know when to listen for them! some options to alter the HUD would definitely help people who struggle with time/goal management, audio cues, are simply overwhelmed by the amount of events, and many other cases
Sorry to forward this, but I really am curious! @grizzled musk
if i’m being honest, this isn’t something i’m super comfortable talking about in here. i’m also not really sure what sort of resources you are asking for.
That's totally fine! I was just curious, but if you don't care to share that's all good.
yeah, not going to lie, i have no idea what the certification process is cos it's my first language 😅
Yeah I have been doing some online courses and plan to enroll at my local college for the ITP there next year!
Fair enough lol, thanks anyway!
Yes it would be nice if they added an events tab to the quest log like wow has. It shows you the upcoming events with their irl times and is really helpful. For palia maybe an in game and IRL time would be good to show since it's hard to know IRL time while playing the game.
Yeah there is an events section in the menu but only for Market. There's also an EW section
Yeah it would be a good qol to just list them all in one place and show you what is coming up next and list both game and irl times so you don't have to wonder or try to figure out how many irl minutes until the event etc.
!feedback S6’s suggestion box is always open.

I hope this doesn't come off harsh or personal because I don't mean for it to, genuinely (hence why I didn't make this a reply or tag anyone). I'm getting frustrated with the frequency this command is used here in this channel. I appreciate that a lot of people here want a lot of feedback pushed to the devs officially, but I am feeling like every other topic gets tagged with the link and often with few other comments between links. Lately especially it feels to me more like it shuts down discussion. I know that's not the intent and that pulling the command is intended to generate more dev feedback and ideally better action from the devs, but as an alpha tester, pretty regular lurker in this channel and semi-frequent participant, it feels similar to the days when we fought to get this channel reinstated and the bot kept telling us very frequently that none of the devs read the channel.
I think the feedback command is an important one and I am glad it exists and is used. I don't expect anyone here to check a person's roles or join date or post history or scroll up in chat to see last link before using the command. I do wonder though if putting some cooldowns on the bot command could help.
Does anyone share this sentiment? If so I'm happy to put in a modmail request or something but I am genuinely curious if it's just me feeling this way because if so I'll drop the subject.
I definitely see your point, I think for me I use the command cause some people don't know that writing in here doesn't count as actual feedback, even if the channel is only called "discussions".
But I definitely understand your sentiment, sometimes we just want to discuss something and hear others input or complain and get a bit of reassurance or whatever.
Not sure if a bot cooldown would be a solution, I think you (and maybe others in the future) pointing it out is going to change the frequency of use already. At least for me personally.
Personally, no, I don't share this sentiment. Plenty of discussion happens here, but the only formal pathway we have as players to get our accessibility needs heard is by using the formal communication pathways that S6 uses. Lacie does an excellent job as a Community Manager and she notes highly requested items directly to them dev team. Accessibility needs are not highly requested, though they do have some good frequency of requests. We have seen time and time again this past 12+ months that the number of reports sent in for feedback/requests/opinions influences what gets prioritized and what doesn't. Encouraging people to send in their opinions via the formal communication pathway doesn't shut down conversation at all to me, most people tend to discuss a bit after they post their initial opinion, but some people don't want to discuss and do want to know their feedback for accessibility is going somewhere.
I don't agree that "the devs don't read feedback." There are some things that I personally and a few other players pushed really hard for over the summer that we got to see get fixed in July and August. And we know for a fact that the opinions/thoughts/concerns here, prior to Lacie being on boarded earlier this summer/late spring, were not getting read here, in the discord. We also know that the feedback from the bug reports and feedback form does get sent to S6, because the number of reports influences the public bulletin board for issues to be addressed by S6. We also have some information to suggest that number of reports determines at least a piece of S6's priority method for addressing issues.
I think it would be a negative action to limit how the feedback command could be used. Most people here, we've discussed these issues ad nauseam, but almost everyone here is very willing to have discussion on the topic when the poster is actively engaging/wanting information.
We've also been trying to keep this channel "cleaner" for the last several months because it became a dumping ground for users to ask non-related questions (we direct them to the right channel), and to use commands for other items (like Maji market, quest issues). Most of those users aren't looking for discussion, they just needed to be directed to the right channel.
What would look best to you, Vox? Do you want the regular users in the channel to actively engage one-time/first-time posters in discussion about their feedback? For me personally, I don't do that unless the person is asking for information. But it seems like you perceive a lack of engagement essentially, so how can that be remedied?
First, to clarify, I didn't say the devs don't read feedback. I said I'm feeling similar to the days there was an auto bot message in this channel specifically that told us the devs were not reading this channel specifically and it was not an official avenue for feedback to be heard.
I hear you, which is why we push for first time posters with feedback to use the formal communication pathway.
right I fully understand that, my above clarification was specifically to the part of your message where you said
I don't agree that "the devs don't read feedback."
I do think that there's probably a correlation between the title of this channel and how often we get messages here that don't follow the intent of the channel. I think probably a combination of some clarification for the channel title as I've seen discussed a few times and possibly a minimum number of messages between calling the bot command could probably help with the frequency of use. Or maybe if the title can be addressed in a way that makes unrelated messages less frequent then that would solve it entirely (from my perspective - I get not everyone thinks there's something to solve)
There's an ongoing mod conversation about the title change for the channel, thankfully.
We do think that will help direct the traffic a bit better.
oh good, I can't always read this channel thoroughly but I knew there was at least significant discussion on that topic here recently
A lot, a lot, of the feedback linking is from "where's the setting for? what's the eta on? devs can we get? how do I not get hurt? where is common accessibility thing? - sorry that's not a thing, help us ask for it/get it prioritized" situations
and it might just be the way my brain works that feels like mid-convo feedback link implies "stop talking here and put it in this form" but the frequency of the command is really just doing that to my brain
I think I get it we kind of get the same thing happening in the issue discussion channel where we are so quick to offer solutions or refer to them support that we forget some just want to vent and discuss the issue.
I agree with Rosalva that trying to engage first before referring to feedback can be helpful.
I think it's a mindfulness issue than a slowdown needed issue
that definitely can be the reaction and I've noticed a shift from just dropping the command alone, to replying at the same time so it's not a dismissal
It makes perfect sense how you could perceive it that way, for sure. I personally feel like many, if not all, of the regular contributors here engage in convo when it seems/feels appropriate with the poster about their accessibility needs. To my observation, most folks just want to know their feedback is going somewhere, very few are interested in continuing the discussion onward with other players. Some do, though!
a chunk are also flybys that would be better suited to a forum rather than live chat (insert rant about discord being gated, obfuscated, too high velocity, and not properly accessible via search engine and about the lack of proper game and support forums these days here) since they come back hours or days later to see the reply and answer the questions asked
Would trying to write messages with the feedback command (such as "!feedback would be the best place to let the devs know, since they don't always read it here. I don't think there's a setting for that, but if you're interested in workarounds, you can try x."), help with not feeling like the feedback command is a "shut down please"?
yeah I have seen that too, and it could be that I'm just not catching more subtle changes in trends because I'm not as active here as I used to be (I was an alpha tester and fought in the tester chats, surveys, etc until I burned out), but I do try to keep up with this channel and it's just bringing back some of those feelings like I mentioned many people here had maybe 2 years ago now when we had the old bot message and it was posted a ton.
there's also the old standbys of "just scroll of up 2 messages" and "did you read the pins" and "there's a thread for that" that could answer a third to a half of the messages, but people aren't getting that kind of dismissal here (even when that would have gotten them a faster and sometimes more detailed answer)
I mean whatever "solution" implemented, to be effective in a discord format, would need to not rely on a user here knowing an unspoken etiquette, or know who is new and who is a lurker or an older user poking their head up etc. I like your suggestion but I don't feel it's reasonable to expect every user here to know to do that etc. and frankly we're talking to a lot of people who have varying concerns and some people just aren't going to have spoons to do more than pull the command and I do get that. Some of what I'm feeling is possibly unavoidable in that regard.
I don't take any of it personally, I know the main reasons most of us here use the command... but at the same time it can be hard for that not to feel like a redirect rather than "also this"
yeah, discord is the wrong tool/format and most of the regulars here are spoonies. Competing access needs are a pita
truly
ok well knowing that the mods are actively discussing the title and the issue of so many unrelated messages here, I'll just wait and watch how that goes. It very well could be that adjustments there could make a huge difference.
I appreciate this conversation, I hope I didn't upset anyone.
I am sorry for using the command and not making an actual response. I now see how dismissive it is.
I appreciate that but ultimately this was just the instance that prompted me to start the convo I had already been internally debating on starting here, and like I said I don't expect everyone to engage or do more than use the command, or to know who does or doesn't know about the feedback process. You didn't really do anything to apologize for 💜
Thank you for being gracious. It should have been brought up given the purpose of this channel.
Just wanting to say thank you, and this is very well put.
Does that turn out differently in practice from normal sunglasses? I don't have epilepsy but i am overly sensitive to light
Personally, the reason I find it annoying is because it's longer than it needs to be for our purposes. I don't really use it, just say "make sure to submit that formally at palia.info/feedback so the devs see it" or something to that effect. Too bad we apparently can't do hyperlinks
I maaaay have been pushing that discussion a few weeks ago and said I'd message the mods, and then switched fixations to Minecraft and forgotten about it... >__>;
Last draft of the channel description from earlier:
Discussions, tips, and requests regarding accessibility for players with physical, neurological, or other disability or access needs.
Thinking about the recent discussion as well, I would amend it to:
Discussions regarding accessibility for players with physical, neurological, or other disability or access needs. This channel is for questions and tips from fellow players; to submit requests to the developers visit https://palia.info/feedback.
Palia Player Feedback.
Most recent suggestion for the channel name is accommodations-and-accessibility which tbh I don't love because it makes sense to people who are looking for the right channel but I honestly don't think it's any clearer to people outside the community, especially non-native speakers (but not limited to those), who are looking for the wrong channel.
So I think disability-and-accessibility is still our top candidate as far as balancing the need to convey that we're talking about "accessibility for disability and other stuff like that" (not "i can't access my account" or w/e) against the desire to respect that not all accessibility needs are related to disabilities because there's also age, neurotype, height/hand size, etc. etc.

haha, what timing
Just popping in to say we've seen the chat and are taking notes
Same brain 🧠🤝🧠
thanks for keeping this conversation going! i wanted to make sure it didn’t get dropped again and you’ve been spearheading this discussion. really grateful for that!
If everyones absolutely adamant on changing it (i still think the current name is fine) i would say accessibility-and-disability rather than the other way, just because when channel names are long, it can cut off the end & disability first might turn people away from using this channel if they dont identify as disabled because accessibility is not & should not be exclusive to just disabled people.
But personally i still think the current name is fine & regardless of change the same people will still come in & get things wrong because theyre not reading the title or descriptions to begin with. Just my polite opinion.
I think that's only partly true. My experience in IT Comms suggests that there are some people who will read all the instructions carefully, some people who are totally immune to instructions, and some who aren't being particularly attentive but you can get through to them if you do it just right.
But I also don't want to make a change if a few of us are vocally for it and a bunch are secretly against. Can we get one of the mods to set up a formal poll? I don't seem to have permission, and I think it's more effective and eye-catching than the informal emoji reaction workaround.
For the channel description, it may not make much difference (I think it doesn't even show up by default on mobile) but I've heard no other objections to changing it and I think we've taken everybody's feedback so far into account (before the part I just added.) So that's relatively straightforward.
With regards to the channel name, I'd like to know who thinks
- we should keep the current name
- we should change the name to #accessibility-and-disability
- we should change it to something else
and a poll to that effect would be helpful.
We are going to hold off on a poll right this second, but are discussing the best ways to crowdsource responses for this. It does feel important to get the community's consensus on a potential channel name change and we're talking through a few options right now.
I don't have any suggestions for names... however, i agree with the fact that 'accessibility' being first in the name would be best. Since, like mentioned previously, accessibility is helpful and important all-around, for everybody.
I also personally thought the channel name was fine-- but I haven't really been around lately, so not sure if things have happened that has resulted in ppl feeling the name needed changed.
Cool, glad to hear it! I was on the fence before but adding the "and" is sufficient to address my version of Bunnyaimee's concern, so you can put me in the pro-change camp.
I know in the past a few folks would pop in here asking questions that were not exactly, 'on topic', but it wasn't too often. Not sure if it's been more frequent now.
My interpretation is that it's not so much a matter of the frequency changing as different interpretations of what counts as "too often". Some people only hop into the channel once a month with a specific question, or to get a take on the patch notes, etc., and are at most skimming the history before that, so it's not a big deal. On the other hand, back when I was checking for unread messages, like, hourly, the off-topic ones felt a lot more annoying.
feels like there's a "I cannot access palia/location/npc/feature/discord channel" once or twice a week - with the occasional influx of like 10 people in one day doing that
did
did s6 add more fireworks explosions to the market???
WHY
omfg they're literally strobing now the entire screen when they go off
WHY WOULD THEY PURPOSELY MAKE SEIZURE TRIGGERS WORSE??? like, that change would have needed someone to actively change something and make it brighter, more flashy, more frequent???
Hello does anyone have a referral code I can use for my account
#🎉│refer-a-friend would be the best place to go to :-)
this is the accessibility channel
putting disability first will make it so it doesn't get cut off in channel menus, especially on mobile
that long of a name will still get truncated either way but yeah too many people don't understand what accessibility means
but yeah like
i'd sort of memorised when fireworks would go off at the market so i could turn my camera away
but now with the changfes, the entire screen strobes flashing changing colours, no matter where you're facing
THAT IS SO DANGEROUS
they 1000% did not do any kind of accessibility consult at all with minecraft devs, i'm absolutely positive now
and they don't read feedback or care
Someone probably did the drum puzzle and set off the finale fireworks for that puzzle, it's not new.
Would QOL-accessibility-disability work? The acronym at the beginning might be enough to deter a lot of the off topic we've been getting while still showing most if not all of the word accessibility. Idk if enough people will know the acronym especially with language barriers so I can't say I think it's a solid fix, but accessibility and quality of life overlap a lot.
I also think having the feedback instruction channel under its own category simply titled "feedback" and having the other channels under some other category like "issues discussions" might help also. And a channel dedicated to discord problems or suggestions like there used to be iirc. I know it might feel like bloat but imo that would help with the people who do read and try to find the right place.
rest assured, we are taking note of everything said here
we welcome your continued input, and thank you for having this discussion!
Fyi, in the original discussion, i and a couple others were not for the change of the name! And i saw someone just above here too agree they didnt think it needed to change ❤️
I have no idea what QOL means /gen
Yes, a specific feedback area would definitely solve a lot of this, great idea
Thanks Meeks, im glad youre open to listening to all sides of this thought process ❤️
Quality of life 🫡
Thanks! Genuinely wouldn't have gotten that, never seen that acronym before!
You're welcome!
I still feel the same way as i did from the first day it was discussed, i agree i dont think the name needs changing ❤️
This might sound idiotic, excuse me if it does, but would changing your gamma setting help at all?
Hello all does anyone know a trick for fishing for people with poor eye sight
you can stand with something in the way of your bobber, a dock column or crate and there will be a yellow highlight, we are hoping to get devs to add it as a permanent feature, you can suggest it in !feedback
also it requires fishing level 10 but if you unlock the fishing guild store there is a lantern bobber that glows
and i would suggest to fish during daytime, maybe cut down nearby trees if they cast shadows on your fishing area
Level 10 I can’t even get out of level 2
Just fyi as well the lantern bobber requires a specific quest to be completed too, ive been past level 10 for ages & have enough fishing medals for the bobber but cant get it cause my requirements arent met 🫠🫠
urgh… i havent gotten it myself and night fishing is difficult
i think there are some foods that give fishing boost that you could go to cooking parties for, the fish-based recipes? not sure i just started playing this month
fishing is definitely a grind
So I know can get Silk from catching bugs but does anyone else feel that maybe like the Cotton plants in Palia that having maybe a silk plant would be helpful besides catching bugs to get Silk????
This discussion topic may be better suited for Issues-discussions or palia-discussions!
Thank you.
i already have my gamma settings changed and a bunch of things in nvidia
flashing is to do with a fast large change in lumens, and the larger it is in someone's field of vision, the worse it is (i play on windowed and have brightness turned way down). so, dispel arrows hurt at a distance but are very painful when they're close up because they're a larger flash. low fps can cause this too, though.
with sticky smoke bombs, that can be really bad because there's often a lot of them being spammed, and sticky ones cause a flash.
the maji market strobing lights are both rapidly changing colours, and very bright flashing that takes up the entire screen, so i get some seizure-like symptoms from the condition i have and it was REALLY bad from that. even with all the customising i've done. it'd definitely have been way worse with the default settings, but still very bad.
the more times it flashes, the worse, and speed (3+ per second is considered dangerous for seizures, but just once can set off reactions too) it's also rapidly changing colours or vivid patterns.
tldr with the way the game is currently designed, the only way people with any kind of photosensitivity to be safe is to avoid playing the game
I appreciate you taking the time to explain all this to me. Thats so difficult, and I am sorry you (and others) have to deal with that! I have noticed that more people have been setting off the drum fireworks lately, and with that being unpredictable, it's hard to prepare. I can relate, only in the sense that someone living near me sets off mortars randomly, usually when Im home alone, and it triggers my startle response.
There is a game I used to play that dimmed down their colors and flashing in a setting for people, so I know it can be done. Hopefully they can do something similar for Palia. Is there any way I can help get the word out for them to listen?
Sending in feedback through our formal communication avenues to S6 is the formal way to get our opinions heard. This is a player to player discord and the Devs rarely check in here. The Community Manager does a great job at documenting highly requested needs/issues, but often access needs may not make the "cut" into prioritization, so to speak. S6 has stated they're working on an accessibility audit with Microsoft (IIRC), so it'll be interesting to see the results of that audit and S6's gameplan to address common needs for accessibility and disability.
As a player, we can voice our opinions and needs formally through the avenue available to us, and discuss with others as well. Using the formal avenues is the best way (that we know of) to make sure your needs/opinions go directly to the Dev team.
!feedback for the link to the form and the (presumably inprogress) audit is mentioned here https://palia.com/news/palia-path-roadmap-summer-2025

I think we're talking about two different things - I heard no earnest objections (beyond "meh, I wouldn't bother") to changing the channel description, the part that currently says "A channel where players can gather to discuss accessibility in Palia" (which is pretty much already covered by it being a channel on the Palia Discord server named "accessibility discussions".) Your objection to changing the actual name of the channel is clear.
Unfortunately, "I think the current name is fine" is ambiguous. That could mean "I think the current name is preferable to making any changes," as in your case, or it could mean "it doesn't bother me but other possibilities also wouldn't bother me."
When the mods do arrange for more formal community input, I hope they phrase it as a choice between "we should change the name/we should not change it" (with other options, possibly including "i don't care much either way") rather than "we should change it/it's fine", which doesn't IMO tell us what we need to know.
I'm not in favor of an entire channel for "feedback instructions"; I agree with those who've said the large number of channels is already confusing. The "server guide" could be reworked to start with "what channel am I looking for?" and then branch out into instructions for how to use each channel, with frequently used commands and suchlike appearing later in the guide. A post saying "for X type of feedback, go to Y" that could be linked where necessary (possibly with a bot command) seems better to me.
thank you, yeah i understand the startle response things definitely and sorry you have to deal with that, that sounds terrible
if you would send feedback, i would really appreciate it. and ask anyone you know to as well.
i know the flashing of that, and firework arrows, dispel, smoke bombs, animated outfits all do tend to cause sensory overwhelm and pain for a lot of people, even folks that don't have any photosensitivity normally
so if you do know anyone with those issues, it'd be great to ask them to send feedback too.
for folks that have photosensitivity it's a physical safety issue, but it's so rare that like,
if it's only us reporting it, it seems like s6 isn't gonna listen or prioritise it at all ;-;
for naming the channel, it depends what s6 wants with it i guess
i don't think it's a good idea to add qol to it. people with disabilities already tend to get drowned out by folks coming in and asking about unrelated issues frequently. qol would be an avalanche
accessibility convos are not the same thing as qol convos
there is already a channel for that #📬│feedback-how-to , i think the suggestion was to break it out into it's own category so that the remaining "issues" channels wouldn't be under the feedback category
Oh, I see. That could work.
I'm in favour of "disabilities" being the first word so when it's a short space on phone it will still show. something like #disability-settings maybe?
so it doesn't seem multipurpose
a lot of people seem to not understand what accessibility is
it's kind of irritating when I see comments that need attention from folks with low vision or seizures and they get buried by folks asking like how to find their friend referrals or where to find different in game resources etc
Everything is so small, I can barely read or see things, even with my glasses on
you can change text size in the in game settings
I have it cranked all the way up.
I'm also referring to the character icons on the maps n such
which device are you playing on? if on switch double press the home button to zoom in to max and zoom out to normal i'll show you later
Xbox. I'm aware of the zoom feature
good
My objections were stated in the original discussion if you want to go back to look, i was purely clarifying as it was stated that whomever said it had said they hadnt seen any objections to the name change. I also spoke about in agreement at the time that the description could use some work yes. I dont really want to churn this over yet again and repeat. This response feels a bit negative from your end tbh. 😕
Goodnight
Side note (generally not person specific) : as much as this channel is necessary , over the last month or so im seeing a fair bit of toxicity esp in responses to people even people who mistakenly post in here AND people who are correct & get dismissive. Its a real shame & it puts me off using this space.
does anyone happen to know anything i could tweak in settings to be better for color blindness? i can’t tell shades of green apart so i struggle with foraging sometimes
It would be nice if there was a voice-to-text option in chat for steamdeck players
For all consoles honestly! Im on switch & typing is not great lol
On the Switch there are explicit colorblindness settings. On the PC, the color controls are different, so I don't know what they are called.
I had to use a bluetooth keyboard for typing on Switch. Typing on Steam Deck is even more difficult! (No predictive text)
I tried connecting mine but it didnt work frustratingly!
On the graphics settings menu there should be a button called calibrate screen there are a few subtle filters in there with an intensity slider that may help
Yeah, though I'd call it more exasperation of the sort that crops up in every p2p support or discussion space rather than toxic (to me there's some more intent in that or meanness). That whole "the regulars have answered this question 10k with 100 of thay being today" thing vs "I just need some quick help" from folks who don't hang in the space. It generally leads to wikis and automated replies for all faqs that rarely get read as a resolution when exasperation turns to frustration that boils over, sometimes rule overhauls too.
Sometimes, yes & i do absolutely get the frustration of repetition, but some in the past have been quite blunt & just rude which to me personally just isnt ok. I just feel its not that hard just to be nice to people & have patience. Eh. To each their own though.
Hey guys, question, has an S6 member ever checked in with this channel since January 23rd of this year, or are they back to not interacting with this channel and not reading feedback?
i guess the dev team don't like to be told off
No dev really checks in on the discord except to possibly address some server-breaking issues or to offer clarification directly. Lacie, the CM, checks all channels regularly and notes important feedback and items. Though she doesn't posted in here frequently, we know she does read the channels regularly and takes feedback to the dev team.
Our formal communication method of using tickets is the best way (that we know of) to share feedback directly to S6 Dev team.
And to clarify, no one here is "telling the devs off," as that's inappropriate to do.
The only reason why I ask is because I have a friend that's fairly upset I'm back on Palia despite the issues surrounding the old snowball bug, lighting issues, etc. We had a conversation about it and they pointed out I was "as hypocritical as the team." Made me contemplate and look at the bigger picture. But if they are regularly taking feedback via the feedback and support links like I thought they have been, I guess that needs to be another separate conversation.
I think you're allowed to play whatever games you'd like, Soup, despite what your friend feels. I have neurological disorders personally, and I still play this game, despite the lack of ability to turn off photosensitivity triggers in the game. I make an adjustment for my personal needs when I have to, because I get genuine joy out of this game.
If you want to play Palia, play Palia in the ways that works for you. I, personally, wouldn't let someone else's emotions dictate what I chose to play for my own joy, but understand how that can feel upsetting to hear from your friend.
In their roadmap post, S6 stated they are undergoing an accessibility audit with Microsoft. What that entails or when it will be available, we don't know yet.
Yes, this is when lacie let us know she does check in here #♿│accessibility-discussions message -though sheer volume of the server generally and the 24/7 nature of it does mean she won't catch everything as tbay simply isn't possible.
Also, there had been an accessibility related section in the patch notes the last few patch notes and here's the audit info
https://palia.com/news/palia-path-roadmap-summer-2025
We’ve teamed up with the Microsoft Gaming Accessibility Testing Service to run a deep-dive audit of Palia. Their mission: spotlight the most pressing accessibility gaps, map out a clear workflow for our development team to address, and guide us toward adding features that truly move the needle for players. The first wave of fixes ships with the Radiance Rising update, with even more improvements queued up for the patches that follow.
As above said, please enjoy & play whatever you like, your friend should not be dictating what you can & can't do or insulting you for doing so, especially when you're not doing anything harmful ❤️ im sorry you've been made to feel that way
Hey folks! While we are still talking things through on our end, we thought shifting #♿│accessibility-discussions out of the feedback category and into the discussions category might help alleviate some of the issues we've been having. Of course people are still not going to read the blurb, but hopefully this will help!
As someone who is still very much upset/frustrated over how S6 handled the snowball bug, along with the constant accessibility concerns... you're not hypocritical or anything else. You can play whatever game that gives you comfort and joy, etc. I can understand wanting to look at the bigger picture, but it honestly does come down to: Are you enjoying your time and having comfort w/ said game? If yes, then that is what's important.
And re: in regards to changing the channel name.
I've been trying to figure out how to word my thoughts on it. I know someone above mentioned just sayign "I thought it was fine" is still a grey area, and I can understand how it can be perceived that way, so I'll try to make it a bit more clear.
Changing the name, I personally don't think is needed. If others do want to, sure. However, I don't personally think adding the word 'disability' is needed or should be added-- only because, it might influence some folks from talking here, who may not have a disability (or are not diagnosed with one).
Accessibility is something that affects everybody, and is overall important. Some things that a lot of folks want, or need, are not always something that only people with disability needs. (Example: Brightness Sliders, UI Sliders, Font changes, etc) I know that changing the name to it, doesn't mean only ppl who have disabilities can chat here, however, like I said, it might influence other people from giving their input, suggestions, or overall chats here in those regards.
(Not to mention, folks in the past in pal-gen and the like, have tried to push accessibility chats here instead, even if it was mentioned... i'd be concerned if it'd happen more frequent if it got changed... it isnt a great feeling.)
That's my main concern when it comes to that. Sorry for wall of text, and hopefully that makes sense.
I think it's wild this person believes they get to dictate what is "righteous" and "good" and harass/insult you for not doing what they say. Sounds like extremist thinking, and that is not healthy. Friends like that aren't very good friends in my opinion.
Keep playing and enjoying the game, you are doing no harm. Sending hugs! 🫂
Thanks everyone. sorry for airing personal drama, but as someone that deeply cares about anyone and everyone being able to game safely, my ex-friend's comment made me pretty bummed out and made me feel like I don't stick to my word. But I do understand that I'm not hurting anyone by playing. I'm still going to enjoy the game as I have been
and I appreciate all of the perspectives!
I'm glad we can all still advocate for better accessibility while simultaneously still being able to play a game we all love and care about.
Still hoping for an ingame notepad or tracker or something, I can't remember stuff 😅 whenever I'm playing I got the wiki open on a second screen, discord help chat on my phone and a notebook to write notes (which have become a mess and I lost a lot of them 👀 )
Voice chat would be nice for communities or parties. Especially those on console where it takes them forever to type a simple message. Although, I am a PC player most of my friends are console.
Would be cool to even make it an in-game item, like a notebook or journal you could buy from the library!!
And then they could have collectable page themes like the nameplates
i need a thing for ew where it has day lighting all day, it would help my migraines so much
Yeh or just something default that you don't need to buy (I'm broke lol)
Looks good, though I would mainly want somewhere to write and a checklist. Like if I go foraging/hunting/fishing/mining, that I can make a list of what to get and have it on my screen like a quest. Or write a short text of who I want to talk to and what to gift them
The library could use some handbooks/guidebooks though 🤔 like, one book for crops (how much space they take, time to grow, what they're used for). And for each area a seperate book for the other stuff; so 3 for bugs, 3 for fishes, 3 for forageables, 3 for mining, 3 for hunting creatures
omg that would be so helpful. so far I have been writing my wifer in our party for notes 🥲
I got a whole notebook dedicated to palia, and several excel sheets that I can print 🤣 the notebook has become an illegible mess though, so I'm gonna have to get a new one
i was thinking about getting something physical too.
but it would be cool to just be able to "add to the list" what you are missing and trying to get.
Yeh
I've yet to find a game that has a notebook or checklist built in for players to use, which feels really weird because it's so useful and seemingly easy to add
Lol it's fine
iirc nancy drew always did this and it was super handy! that or I've combined memories of too many notebooks of notes and the in game checklist
There's a very vague memory flickering in a dusty corner of my mind... who's nancy drew again?
It sounds familiar
She is a teen detective character. She started out in literature, and then had 30+ games under her name made. Point and click adventures, mostly.
Oh yeh
Theres an unofficial app on mobile called Palia Notebook where you can add your own tasks & stuff that might be useful?
hmm Ill check it out, thank you!
Omg I second an in game notepad.
very late to the notepad idea, and idk how many people even know about this feature and how useful it can be but for steam players, there is a steam notes that you can utilize in order to keep track of whatever you need, you can type out anything or even go as far as to post screenshots if you need any visuals to help you
in addition, there is also the steam web browser that you can also use in somewhat the same manner as a notepad, if you pull up paliatracker or any other similar sites, you can use them while still being in game, and the cool things about both is that you can pin them so it stays up while you are in game, kind of like an overlay
Im on console but thats neat to know for other games
I was looking for something like that on Friday night.
what is the shortcut to bring up the steam notes
Shift and tab there's a notes button
thank you
Definitely need a notes system on consoles!
i have a migraine disorder too, and agreed
have you adjusted many gamma and graphics card settings?
gamma does reset every time you close the game til you go into the escape menu once
I am absolutely happy to share all my settings if that could help cuz yeah migraines sssuuuuuck
I fought with the violet lighting so hard
Yes pls, I'll definitely try
do you have Nvidia and know how to use the overlay n stuff?
(feel free to DM me if that is easier or w/e, either way is totally good!)
I'll dm you tmrw!! Tyyy
sounds good, I'll do my best!
time for migraaaaaines for me and at least 5 friends \o/
The roadmap directly mentions accessibility improvements, nice :-) Under "Looking Ahead".
the Palia Path Fall 2025 | Development Roadmap video is okay but a lot of people will probably still have a rough moment or two - the winter snowball fight is in there somewhat obscured, there's a couple premium outfit animations but slower than normal, in game camera flash
the accessibility audit is not mentioned this time, but there's a quick mention that they're still working on accessibility improvements
"accessibility improvements! we gonna reward players for giving you a seizure with the upcoming event!"

Stops taking my Ethosuximide get your rewards here ladies! XD
Hi all, I'm experiencing motion sickness for the first time with any game I've played. I think I remember someone in this channel mentioning a graphics setting that helps with that? Any tips would be appreciated (other than the obvious, "play less").
Pinks are ok, I forgot to mention.
enable center reticle, disable camera shake, increase FOV, and ... more - there's a few older tips in the pins and someone had a good rundown that you might be able to find via search in case they aren't around to share it again
Ah thank you, I was wondering if I was looking in the right place. I'll check the google doc.
also test limitting your fps. i tend to find unless i limit fps in palia it sets off my vertigo, might pay to test out those settings
The center reticle really helped me, i have no idea why because i dont even notice it now but it works haha🤣
You can also do a search of this channel here
lol my game froze right after I changed settings. I'll test the new settings tomorrow.
Lol typical! ❤️
So I want a hot chocolat recipe and some nut cake in palia for autumn what do you think?
sry wrong chat
Wrong chat, yet im so for this xD
Pumpkin loaf!
Okay Bunny, Palia Petition #305... Pumpkin loaf is a MUST have!!
Hey people. Im having issues with fishing in darker areas cause I cant see the fish very well and also cannot hear sound, is there any setting that helps with that except jacking the gamma on my monitor up to kingdom come in hopes ill see the fish and its not a grey sludge? 😭 I wish there would be a similar green indicator like there is when reeling in fish
you can try and position yourself next to a wall, the game then highlights the fish in yellow which lets you see it clearer as you line it up with your green brackets
Oh thats actually brilliant, thank you! I'll try that next fishing trip
I’ve really been struggling with this as someone who was blessed with two high definition potatoes for eyes 😔 I know there are brighter, more visible fishing lures out there, but I can’t get them, because surprise! I can’t fish to save my life 😭 The default lure might as well be an invisibility cloak
I really wish the yellow highlights could be an option in settings or something for the defective eyeballs out here
I bought the seagrass gardens landscape and I love it, but if I spend more than a few minutes on that plot, I start feeling nauseous and get a headache. Is there a setting that could be adjusted that might help? Hoping I didn't waste my money on a landscape I can't use.
There are some suggestions here that may help. #♿│accessibility-discussions message
Thank you! I'll try those tips when I log on later.
You’re welcome! I hope you find settings that work. It would be a shame if you couldn’t use the backdrop.
Ultimately, if you find you can't use it -- you can ask for a refund. Do note, players have reported once they got a refund, they were unable to purchase that item in the future.
I might have missed some of the tips, but I did check the pinned Google doc. None of that helped. It sucks that I can't use it because it's so pretty, but I'm not going to worry about a refund though. I love the game and the premium shop keeps it going so I'll consider it a donation lol.
Totally understandable 🙂 Sorry the settings changes didn't help!
I know they are thinking about accessibility fixes for the future. Maybe later on I'll be able to use it. We're about to have a ton of stuff to keep me busy anyway 😁
Btw, changing the setting definitely helped a little with my motion sickness.
Is there ever going to be an option to increase the font size, not for char but for everything else? I have a hard time playing with my switch docked because my astigmatism makes the white font hard to see on my tv because its so small.
!feedback (info for where below) would be the best place to let the devs know. There hasn't been any specific announcement of a text size changing option, but they have announced having plans for accessibility additions which may contain text size.

Wait a minute..i have astigmatism...THIS MAKES SO MUCH SENSE. You've just awoken something in my brain now about what i can see on games haha
Yeah i get like a weird double vision/ ghosting with the white font and its awful. I can see the bigger font easier, i still have the issue but its atleast easier to read. but the small font like for quests or player names is awful. It gives me a headache and sore eyes within an hour of playing docked on the tv. And i just got the new switch 2 and battery life isn’t as good as my previous switch
the fish are so hard to see, especially when they are tiny. and so many fish go too fast for me to reel in :/
I agree, same here. Try standing so that something blocks your view of the fish while fishing, it makes it bright yellow. Doesn't help with the speed, but does help with the visibility.
whats the link to message palia about helping meout with the buggy prismbeard quest??? its been a month and i still cant get it to work

ty!!
my friend plays on ps5 and he cannot fish whatsoever. he tried to fish in kilima and the fish move too fast for controllers to keep up. he's understandably frustrated and i even tried out using my ps5 controller, and i see what he means. he maxed out the senstivity, but he still can't catch anything. i even struggled to catch, as someone who plays keyboard and mouse. hoping they make more accessibility options for controller players / ps5 / switch.
personally I'd like accessibility settings for fishing that let us automatically follow the fish when reeling in.
this specific issue came up in console zone before as well; it might be worth peeking in there and see if anyone has suggestions for trhis.
I play on a ps5 it’s hard to catch fish but I keep on trying, I caught 5 so far but I missed out on a lot of good catch
What I do is hold r2 to reel in and at the same time shift right or left joystick stick (which ever you feel comfortable with) left to right to ensure the bar follows the fish and stays green
I have a question on Colourblind modes for the game, I am Red/Green colour blind and find the game difficult. Been living with it for 49 years, so just a query
On the Switch, in Settings: Calibration Settings, there are Color Corrections for protanopia and tritanopia. On the PC, the color corrections are more finely tuned (they're not called color correction) and I'm not sure where they are in Settings.
On PC it's settings > accessibility > color filters, there's options for deuter, prota and tritanopia :)
Hello lovely folks of #♿│accessibility-discussions! I just wanted to do a quick check in and see how we're feeling about having shifted the channel in our recent server changes. From my (admittedly limited) observations, I think we're seeing fewer lost discord members asking tech help questions? What do you think?
(Promise I'm not just asking to get head pats
I genuinely want to know where we're at and if things are working out!)
I think the move definitely helps, but I think we'll get a better idea of how much when the new patch launches and server traffic jumps up a bit.
Huh, in pc (win 11 via steam) for me its settings > graphics > calibrate screen
Guessing it's different per OS, should've clarified I'm on Win11
Clarified in mine as well, weird that palia would make it different, seems like a lot of unnecessary additional upkeep
sorry for late response! my friend did what you did and he couldn't catch anything. but i did tell him to have patience and eventually they'll make it easier for controller / console players. plus it literally says that controller support is still a WIP when i plugged my controller into my pc so i made sure to tell him that too.
Thank the heavens, I thought I was old and blind! That is a silly place to put the colour correction. I am just pleased it has it, thanks to the wonderful community, you all were able to help me find it on a Windows machine.
Oh that's a very good point! I will be watching with great interest
(with images - PC, win11, steam) Color blind settings are under Graphics Settings > Calibrate Screen and there's 3 options (protanope, tritanope, deuteranope) that also have an intensity slider in addition to the gamma slider
Is there any accessibility setting for PS5 that allows us to change the graphics of the game? My mom has started playing but has a tough time playing with the grass being so high and obscuring things around her base and bugs out in the world.
hi everyone! will the servers be down for about 5 hpurs tomorrow starting with 5 pm my country time?
Since this isn't an accessibility-related question, it's best discussed in another space such as #💬│palia-general :-)
Make sure you also read the official announcement Lacie sent at #📢│palia-news message .
ummm there is a setting (on pc) to turn down folliage, thats what i do
I've looked in the options and I don't see that on there for console. Wish it was as that would be exactly what she needs.
really? the foliage setting has been on all the consoles i’ve played on…
What are the best settings for switch to show the game graphics the best? I can't afford a computer, and love this game
#🎲│console-zone probably has more knowledge there

Yeah this is really frustrating. I honestly miss playing on my switch because it had less foliage. But I have trouble with the smaller bugs in general. I’ve resorted to partying with someone who can see better.
I've checked in settings multiple times. Where are you finding it for console?
On Switch, I haven't found it either.
hmm, i don’t see it. must have been thinking of PC (i play on multiple platforms.) strange that wouldn’t be a universal setting?
summarizing patch notes here, but there's no autoplay this time so the notes should be safe to read #1382766801590419457 message
thankies 🩷
i think the big safety things are in the known issues - unintentionally color changing foliage in kilima, flickering and extra sounds in new housing lines, placeholder textures
i Hope it'll get fixed soonn
sounds like the new balloon glider might have issues with flashing light/particle effects
hoping that’s not the case
you're right, somehow had already blocked that from my mind 😆
new acknowledgment #💬│palia-discussions message
Hello. I don't want to seem like i am complaining. It would just be nice to have a stronger aim assist option for those of us with hand co-ordination issues. Catching bugs is the hardest thing for me personally considering how quickly some of them move plus the need to quickly swap tools sometimes. As a disabled person i generally don't like feeling like i MUST rely on others to get the most out of my life.
i absolutely agree.
catching critters is physically taxing sometimes (*pretty much always)
thanks. didn't have it active
i've cried (not proud of it) when i have found a bug i needed and had it get away from me simply because i cant get my hand to do the thing. i mostly just don't try anymore
i can relate to that. i especially encounter that with Dragonflies who are hard to see and very fast
i mostly catch the slower bugs like Blue Butterfly and green lantern bug
i feel so seen. same here. i have a lot of bluebell flowers and gardenia bushes. i'm just trying to level it at this point so i can just buy the flowers from auni but even getting to that feels daunting
Hey all, I'm new to the game so may have missed this, but is there a way to make fish always turn the bright yellow colour when reeling in, not just when they're under objects? I play on switch and I struggle to see where the fish are sometime, particularly at night (I've changed the brightness options already).
Even with bugs too, it would be handy to have them slightly more obvious sometimes. I do understand that part of the charm is stumbling across a bug you did a double take on, but on a tiny screen with glitchy/jumpy movements from the processing, it's not always playable.
unfortunately no, and that it happens as often as it does is being considered a bug. you can force it a bit if you make sure to have something between you and your bobber - building, plants, whatever
Thanks for letting me know! Yeah great tip thank you, I've been doing that for now but along the coasts it's not always possible. Even if the switch version had slightly larger frames for the catchables it would be nice. Fingers crossed a solution will come through 🙂
Hi, i thougt that maybe someone would like to have this controller if they have trouble with mobility
https://www.xbox.com/de-DE/accessories/controllers/xbox-adaptive-controller
idk if this is just me or lag from people loading in but it feels like mouse responsivity has a lag
usually it would be immediate but now when i move it feels like there is a delay, is anyone else having this problem?
No advice beyond using your focus to upgrade and commiserating, I'm too slow for the faster bugs and animals (and fishes) so often miss them too...
I wonder if investing in a mouse where you can adjust the DPI with a click of a button would help you guys. I have the logitech G502 X and it has 2 buttons on the front, one to increase and one to decrease the DPI super quickly that I use all time gaming whether its an FPS or chill game, super helpful

i think this shouldnt happen? not able to place anything on the free standing roofs
people are posting a lot of non accessibility things in here -_-
i restarted my game but the camera settings still have different reactivity than before 😭
it's like the camera and the character don't move at the same time anymore, not sure if a bug or feature but it makes me motion sick now 😢 does anyone know if there's a way to turn this off if it's a new feature? (i love the update btw other than that ❤️ )
Hi! That might be better suited for another channel, such as #💬│palia-general :-)
new (i think) bright flash in gardening - when you find a resource while hoeing there's a sparkle and when you collect it with the hoe there's a flash
so if you see these you may want to avoid them to avoid the flash

heyo how can i disable motion blur? after few min i get terrible motion sickness
this was for the girls who said they struggle with carpal tunnel and arthritis ❤️
got put into an infinite loading screen while searching for Palium
is there a keyboard key that works on the cooking screens? i have hand issues that affect mouse usage
you can rebind your cooking buttons to different ones, and you can even map secondary keybinds if you want to
ty
Hi, all! Is there a general guide/page with accessibility tips/tricks? I have a plethora of needs/issues and don't want to flood chat with questions. It's not just key bindings I need. Also wondering if there's an official form to give dev's suggestions?

I'm having issues with the animal interface I can't go to the left to scroll the animals information

i found a secret area in my housing behind a wall with a hole and i can't go over to the secret area

I don't remember who suggested it, but I downloaded the palia notebook lite app on my phone. I was wondering, what is the difference between the palia notebook, and palia notebook lite? besides that you need to pay for the palia notebook app and the lite one is free
Heya, new-ish to the game. I've been avoiding cooking because of the bars scrolling from left to right. It causes immense nausea, dizziness and headaches. Is there a way to change how it's presented in the settings?
I also fail multiple times due to my hands not doing the thing but I can deal with that haha thank you everyone who is helping everyone. I love this community ❤️
you can disable the cinematic camera which would limit the pov/screen changes, but there's not a way around the rhythm game or a way to modify it unfortunatley
or rather, not a way around it solo, you could cook with other players who would do those steps while you did different ones - everyone who does a step gets the dish
Thank you for your quick answer ❤️ it's very unfortunate now that community boards require cooking and I'm a solo player haha it's more of a reason to meet new awesome people, thank you again!
hey wassup guys
Hello! Is there anything accessibility-related you need help with? If not, general discussions are best in #💬│palia-general :-)
nahh i was thinking if someone is playing and wants company to talk to
Then #💬│lfg-chat might be the place to check.
`thank you 🙂
I love cooking and am a chill, quiet individual, if you ever need to cook feel free to add me as a friend (name Henry Iohannes) and I'm happy to do all the tricky mechanics. Mixing and adding completed ingredients are the most accessible steps you could do and still get credit + the meal 🙂
(this goes for anyone who struggles with cooking. I'm disabled too and understand how infuriating quicktime events can be, I will always be happy to help)
for the bar task if you close your eyes and listen there is a ticking sound, the ticking is on beat with when you need to chop, you can use that instead to chop with your eyes closed no need to look
Is it weird that the sound is harder for me to time myself to than the visual? I've always been a visual over auditory person. Turning the sound off during the minigame actually helps me focus on the movement, for some strange reason. Now, catching bugs? I'm desperate for a sound when I'm getting close to specific bugs. I really wish the gatherables didn't have sounds but the bugs did, and that I could turn off ambient background sounds. Other games have bug sounds, so I've trained myself to those for "catching" and Palia not having them as a cue I'm getting close is throwing me off big time. 😭
nothing weird about it! brains work in all sorts of interesting ways. and like you said, you’re conditioned to certain things from other games. i do wish they’d put in settings that make cooking easier (like games with quick time events have settings where you don’t have to button mash and instead just press the button.) unfortunately the current solution does seem to be cook with others (the only way i can get any dish that has green onions.) there’s channels here to find folks to play with if you’re ever comfortable with doing that
what kind of mini game do you think would be better for you with cooking? i prefer stirring, but i know some folks struggle with holding buttons down for extended periods.
Honestly, I'm just not a fan of timed/quick-time mini games at all. I know it's a whole thing in "cozy" games these days, but it's just a mechanic I'm not a fan of, and I don't really see a need for it in games of this type at all. I think it became A Thing back when games like cooking mama and such became really popular on the DS/3DS and now devs have just run with it. It's the same with fishing and whatnot--all devs feel like it needs to have a mechanic to keep it "busy/fun" and it just...doesn't, you know? Like, BotW's cooking is great. NMS' fishing is great. Neither of those requires timing or a game or anything.
Hello Games specifically added a feature in NMS for "auto-catch" that basically turns off the need to reel in fish. Just drop your line and forget it. Enjoy the volcano going off in the background or whatever. If you want to reel in yourself? Turn auto catch off and enjoy your little game.
yes! i really like BotW and games with similar cooking mechanics where it’s about mixing in the right ingredients to get what you’re going for instead of mini games following a set recipe. feels more like real life cooking to me
for fishing, there’s games with passive fishing (like in palworld, they have a pal who can fish for you or you can fish yourself) and similar mechanics.
i think reeling in that elusive big catch that’s super hard to get is a huge accomplishment. i don’t think it detracts from the achievement to give folks who physically can’t do it a way to catch it though.
especially if you’re going to lock portions of the game behind being able to do it.
I feel like "cooking" is already fairly punishing in palia because so many recipes are locked behind pretty brutal friendship requirements and/or high-level mats, only to then have to do this really tedious and frustrating mini game that my reflexes just can't handle. It's already enough, you know? Just let me hunt for the recipe and the ingredients and then have the satisfaction of cooking it, like Link does
There's a lot to be said for how BotW nailed the cooking mechanic. It's a really satisfying system, even without a mini game tied to the cooking, and I think it works because there's no mini-game tied to the cooking itself. Palia's cooking would still be really fun and would still have a leveling element without the minigames. Or they could keep the games for those who like them but give a toggle for those of us who just don't or can't, like what NMS does with the fishing. You still have to wait for the fish to bite in NMS, and there's still RNG (so much RNG 😭 ), so no one gets a free pass, but you don't have to play the line-color-reel game.
I don't know... I just think too much is put on the "well, you can group with people to make the cooking, fishing, and bug catching easier--it's an mmo!" excuse to justify Palia devs not putting in accessibility features for mini games. Not all of us want to be super social just to do basic game mechanics, especially not in a game that otherwise doesn't play like a regular MMO (and I've been playing MMOs since before WoW existed).
a few of the recipes cut it real close in being able to do them alone without any real issues with the mini game, if they get even harder it's going to force party cooking or abandoning whatever requires the even harder recipes so having something to help with cooking will help everyone. The "Good along, better together" thing is definitely getting pretty thin
for me the chopping/rolling minigames are the part of cooking i can actually manage. where my disability causes issues is with how many steps are involved with most of the recipes, and that there's time limits for each of the steps. i can manage the soup, but i have burnt absolutely everything else i have tried because of executive dysfunction 😬 so i have just making piles and piles of soup to keep my character fed, i have absolutely no chance with any bundles or quests that require more complicated recipes
It all comes down to having more options and choices for everyone so we can all can just do the thing and play the game. That's what it comes down to.
It's just not that complicated.
Time limits add stress. Quick time mini games add stress. Forced social interactions add stress. All these "busy" tasks add stress. Cozy games shouldn't be stressful, really. Just add options to reduce or eliminate stressors, so that people can control which things do/don't stress them out or add too much challenge and the pain/stress/inability to enjoy themselves goes away.
The problem is that a lot of developers don't think about accessibilty until after the core mechanics of the game have been developed. It has to be part of the entire process from start to finish, not tacked on at the end, and that's just not something they really teach in game development. They're starting to, but we're still years behind.
idk why paliawiki says carrotseed and not bloodbeetle, is carrot seed the last???
Probably better in #💬│palia-general or #💬│palia-discussions
nah it's not weird, it's almost like a different mini game when you play it using the sounds i had to get used to it 😂 the bugs do have sounds i know the crickets make a sound i forget about the others, i agree if they don't all have sounds it'd be helpful to add, i never know when they are there sometimes and rely on the jars ngl
i'm still having the issue where the character and camera don't seem to move at the same time anymore, does anyone know if it's a feature that can be turned off for motion sickness?
Sounds like a bug to me, but there is a setting that changes if the camera automatically turns or not. Not entirely sure where though...
are you reffering to the camera assist setting? you can enable or disable it if you want, though do note this only works if you play with a controller, nothing happens if you use mouse + keyboard
Waaaaait, does that meant we can rebind "use cooking station" to be a different key from "turn off light"?? because that would be a GAME CHANGER
oh i wish we had that in Palia
nope it's not this setting (but this is a cool setting i like it!), before the update it seemed the camera moved at the same time as the character, now when i jump or move the mouse it seems the camera takes 0.1-0.2 seconds to follow and so the character and the camera don't move in sync anymore, it's subtle but noticeable if you're sensitive to that, unsure if it's a bug for me or an issue other people are having though
Me too! I love it so much in NMS and I want it in all games with fishing now. NMS still has that RNG element, so there's still satisfaction in getting those rare catches and such, and you have different depths and zones/biomes to factor in, so it's not just a "drop a line; get prize" situation, and you can toggle it off if you want to do the game, so it really does work for all types of players, from "sweats" to casuals. 🙂
I really wish it was easier to see some of the bugs. I'm legally blind and some of them are really hard to see.
If you are playing on PC, you can turn down the foliage in Settings to lower the grass textures. That will make it easier to see the crawling bugs.
Bug catching is one of the most frustrating tasks for me in the game, even with all foliage settings lowered. They are too small and many of them move too quickly.
hey friends if anyone else is struggling with the camera motion when you interact with the animals, due to motion sickness or whatever, please join me in submitting feedback! it’s actually so painful for myself and a friend. they were feeling extremely sick today. we need to have a setting to turn off that cinematic camera motion. thank you 🙏 🖤
for me it’s fishing… i feel like there needs to be settings to aid in this. it’s supposed to be a cozy game not me rage quitting bc the sensitivity is too high when reeling them in
my sister is playing on an older switch, and she cannot do fishing at all
i joined a community where they have a group cooking party set up regularily, where everyone is assigned a station and you only have that one task to do for each recipe. it sounds like something that would be helpful in your situation.
🤔 that does sound like a workaround that could help me clear my quest & bundle backlog. what is involved in these communities and how do you go about finding them?
the auto aim for the arrows needs to be changed… i’ve lost azure chapaa and other rare creatures more than once bc of that one random sernuk or whatever the arrow decided to auto aim for…
yes so far the solution i found is to close my eyes when clicking and it helps, i agree tho a fade to black setting would be nice instead of the big motion
i sent you a server invite
they have stuff to do and info, or you can just ignore them
i cant go much into detail or ill be breaking server rules
there’s some here https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1267631845013721158
so sorry to hear it, hope you're feeling better. i totally agree there definitely needs to be a setting for unlocking the camera
i'll send feedback and ask my friends to as well ♥ i know several people that have mentioned it's pretty rough
I have. The issue is not the foliage; it's the bugs themsevles. Often, I don't see the until they've seen me and I miss them a lot.
That sucks.
sorry i wasn't clear, my disability affects my communication. when i asked about finding "these communities", i wasn't meaning palia communities in general, but rather ones that would help me around the specific difficulty i have with cooking that would allow me to progress further in the game. i wasn't sure if there was a specific way they would describe themselves that i should be searching for. but i have now received a couple of DMs from people who understood what i was asking, so i will follow up with them and hopefully be able to do more complicated recipes by this method. 😊
i’m sorry i misread your message! i’m happy to learn that you’ve found folks who will hopefully be able to help you out.
hi, guys! this is my first time playing games, and i have a hard time with it bcs of my motion sickness. i have tried reducing the graphics and all but still doesn't help. any tips please? i want to get into games so bad
Hi ! i'm french and i search people to play chill DM ME 🇫🇷 🥖
Some players have had luck turning on the Persistant Center Reticle in Gameplay Settings. You can also try changing the POV in Graphics Settings: Advanced.
#♿│accessibility-discussions message has a link to a document with suggestions as well.
hey i used to be able to play palia until the new update without many issues (i get very motion sick as well with some other games) but since the new update it makes me more motion sick, idk if this is a problem only for me but maybe this is the. case for you too and you'll be able to play it if a fix rolls out? reducing the camera mouse sensitivity helps and not moving the camera when you run or move helps as well, i'm waiting on a fix though before fully playing again, good luck 🙏
Unless there's an accessibility angle I'm missing with this, best to ask in #🤝│game-help .
Sorry for the quality, I just wanted to show this bug that appeared after interacting with the corral store.
It was the only time he appeared to me. Pc gamer
I’m not sure how but on one of my loading screens it says there is an option to turn something on in setting for this issue
thanks so much! i did that yesterday but unfortunately i still got motion sickness from it.
I'm fairly new to Palia, I started a couple of months ago. Three weeks ago I tripped, fell and broke my right shoulder - this means weeks of immobolisation and just a clumsy left hand to play. I set a spare button on my mouse for running and have been able to do nearly all of the content. I'm slow and miss a few shots but have still progressed and had loads of fun. It's so nice that this game has given me the fun escape into Palia despite my restrictions. My first cosy game, and loving it 🙂
!feedback has some info on how to let S6 know, it doesn't look like a specific accessibility thing so if you want to discuss it with others maybe visit #🤝│game-help or #💬│palia-discussions .

Theres auto aim??? I struggle hitting anything at all lol...
there sure is and there’s no way to turn it off :/ i get its there to help but at least add a toggle for the ppl who don’t want it
Hmm I had no idea
Either the auto aim isn't great or I truly suck at hitting, because I'm not succeeding much at hunting on my own lol
the auto aim isnt exactly like the traditional ones you are familiar with, its more like its homing arrows
the auto aim targets the nearest creatures and it seems mana beat me to the video bc i literally had one attached to the msg as i was typing
i’ll send it anyways xD you can’t see it but the arrow aimed at a hidden chapaa when i was tryna aim at the sernuk
something to add, it only works with a controller, nothing happens if you use mouse and keyboard
Omg thanks guys!! I had no idea
This is very good to know
i don’t have a pc. i only have a switch
Wait so auto aim like this is only for controller??
pretty much yea, if you want auto aim while playing with mouse and keyboard, it will not work
oh whaat, what does it say?
i'm sorry 😭 yeah same it is just harder to play for me now, i hope they can fix it, if it makes you feel any better the devs listen to feedback a lot so maybe it will make us less motion sick next update or patch, i recommend sending feedback to them via the official form if you can
I’ll try to keep an eye out if it pops up again. I don’t remember exactly what it said. Maybe you could find a YouTube tutorial on how to change it?
That's good to know as I've just downloaded the game on PS5 hahah
Thank you so much!!
How?!? I play on switch and tbh I’ve never noticed it
What if we have the voice actors actually speak their lines in some later updates? That would be too cute to hear Hassian actually vocalize his whole lines!!!

Hi guys, I can't find any chat channel to get votes, does anyone know where I can communicate about it?
thank u so much
Auto Aim? Is that only console? Cause it would help me in PC!
i think it’s controller-specific? i play on PC with controller and it happens for me
Thanks. I can't figure out controlers well. Heck I have the game on my switch and can't figure out how to switch plots so i can water things
#♿│accessibility-discussions message its not really an auto aim, more like homing arrows, something i will say, idk if the same feature works with bug hunting and smoke bombs (if they also home in to the nearest bug) and also, this auto aim only works with controller, nothing happens if you use mouse + keyboard
ZR is using tools like your watering can, pickaxe, etc. press right stick to go into overhead view of your plot, then - to change plots.
decided to test the whole aim assist with bug hunting, for the people wondering, no the smoke bombs do not home in to the nearest bug unlike with regular hunting where it does home in to the nearest creature
so I get very motion sick, and to play the game I need to do a like pomodoro type thing, play for 30 min, take a break for like 10-15 min and so on.
I've tried a few different things. and they've helped to an extent. but I really wish 1) the FOV thing in this game actually made the camera get farther from the character. instead it sort of distorts the bg and that makes me even more motion sick 😵💫 and 2) I wish there was a mine or something to get ores at, all the walking around and panning the camera around looking for ores makes me so so dizzy 😭 oh and 3) I wish tilling and watering didn't auto zoom in the camera, cuz you guessed it, that also makes me super duper dizzy
something that i can say regarding the finding ores one, you can try and buy the ore bars from hodari or from sifuu's blacksmith shop if you ever need more of those materials, and also request more from other players, i know this isnt really exactly fixing your motion sickness issue regarding trying to find ores and all, but these are some alternatives you can try to do instead of having to constantly look around just to like only get 5 ores max
yeah, that's actually a good idea. soon as I start making more money, I might make that my way of dealing with needing ore bars. I did start very recently so that's not super viable juuuust yet, but it's a nice idea for the future! Thank you for the suggestion
something else to add on, you can try and party up with other players, while this does still require you to look around finding ores, you can have them be your eyes as they will be the ones who scan around looking for ores while you look at something static to not aggrevate your motion sickness, in addition, by being in a party, you get a chance at double loot, which is helpful in farming more ores
Question- on the current discussion taking place.
Would this channel be appropriate for pinging an @ here, and inviting anyone with accessibility issues to come along to gather… whatever, really?
I love the idea of using the party system to get around some peoples’ issues until a better fix takes place.
Or maybe the party section for dedicated “helper” events?
if I were to ask for help like mana suggests, I'd probably go to the parties channel, explain my situation, and see if anyone volunteered 🤔
but ey, this is another super good idea! 👀 thank you
Ugh... The homing arrows/auto aim thing. I despise that cursed mechanic so much... As if hunting on switch didn't have enough challenges
ah, yeah, i meant to add to the aim assistance thing.
basically I play on pc with controller, and whenever I need to hunt I just do a hybrid: walk with the joystick, aim and shoot with the mouse, and I just squint at the screen so the camera doesn't make me too dizzy.
if it's a chaapa? chappa? and I don't kill it on one try, then I give up on it lol, aint no one swinging around the camera to try and catch the lil guys. if it's a sernuk, I hit it once, the follow slowly, see where it goes, and then give it the second shot to off it.
but aiming in controller is a full nope. so my condolences to hunting on switch/console
I can hunt perfectly fine on switch
I guess it'll depend on camera sensitivity? I have my camera sensitivity for controller super low to help with the motion sickness. which in turn makes it difficult to hunt with controller 🤔
Ah I moved my aim sensitivity up cause I have stick drift
i’m sorry i was asleep :( it’s controller specific so you can hook up a controller to your pc to use auto aim!
Not sure if this has been mentioned before but what I am missing is a minimap to navigate. I know there's the bar with the questmarkers and such, but when I have no quests, I often get lost and have to check the big map to see if I am even going in the right direction 🫣
I understand what you mean ! My work around is to just drop a pin everywhere I’m going
Yeah I do that too, though for me it's often bugged and it won't drop and then crashes my game 🫣 But at least it's something when it does work haha
😭😭 Omg ! I haven’t had that happen- Have you put in a ticket for it?
I keep forgetting to once I log off 🫣 going to report it as soon as I log in
second this! I have a terrible sense of direction. as long as it has a toggle so you can enable/disable it when you want to, a minimap would be amazing
I have Huntington's disease. I have uncontrollable movements that make it hard to do platform quests.
Yes the game would really benefit from a minimap and being able to move with the map open becoming semitransparent while moving. Many of us suggested and asked for this during alpha testing but maybe if enough people ask or maybe the accessibility audit will help, but they have 100% heard this request before and have unfortunately been really resistant to a minimap in the past.
Aaaah! That sucks.. Perhaps one day they will allow addons like Elder Scrolls does, so people can make one or something 🙏
Yeah something would be better than nothing. I know the addition of elderwoods really made navigation a lot harder for folks like us who would benefit from those features, so maybe now with that and the accessibility audit they may eventually be persuaded to add a minimap, it would really be better if they implemented it themselves. I guess time will tell.
It's interesting they'll be doing an accessibility audit. I've found these to not be very helpful, because unless they've brought in experts from within many accessibility-focused communities, they're often just pr stunts and it's really frustrating for the actual communities hoping to see functional changes to the programming. When accessibility isn't developed in the programs from the start, but is tacked on towards the end, it's never quite enough. Here's hoping, though.
yeah my standards are high but my expectations for this are pretty low, tbh but I'll be very happy to be proved wrong
it's unfortunately a bit of a lie, at least on PC there isn't anything labeled "Motion Sickness Settings" though the description of "Persistent Center Reticle" when you hover over it does say it can reduce motion sickness the settings needed to manage the issue are on two tabs and a submenu.
Oh yeah, I also pored over my whole settings menus looking for that AJSJJD
not sure if it's the right place, but is it possible for the fast travel signposts to be visible on the map? would make transport a whole lot easier once you have the gold to afford it
they are once you find them
and you can set a marker on them to show up on your compass
its the horse shoe icons
they're the horse marker!?
and are the markers we set permenant or do we have to apply em each time we log in
you would have to set the marker each time you want to find one, since you can only have one marker active at a time and it resets when you leave the area/quit i think
just popping in here again to kindly ask folks to send feedback about seizure and photosensitivity triggers 💜
need a lot more voices, it doesn't seem like s6 is caring about photosensitivity reactions
flashing and strobing lights, dispel arrows, smoke bombs (especially sneaky ones), all the fireworks shows at maji market, firework arrows, flashy outfit change animations, animated arrows from flashy tool skins, flare arrows
need a toggle to hide these on client side to prevent seizures and other neurological episodes
I have neurological damage from COVID. It took me nine months of trying to complete Temple of the Gales.
I can see my future is bleak /lh and somewhat silly
just the water geyser made me so motion sick the first time I tried it, I had to re do it like 3 times to actually get the landing place right to finish that quest, and then like 2 more times to grab the hidden stuff on one of the platforms to the side
I really feel like making the bugs glow or something might help those of us that have trouble seeing them.
thank you! i'll see, i tried all the options but i couldn't find it, maybe i missed something
ah ok i understand, yes there are some settings for slowing the camera down, i used to be fine with those and didn't get motion sick but since the update something with the camera has changed because with the same settings it makes me motion sick now 😭
i used to find those settings really effective tho, they were useful before for me for motion sickness
idk what it is, but there's somethign about bahari bay that makes me super duper motion sick in like 15 min flat
This is one of my big wants, and I've sent feedback about it a couple times. Either a glow or just an outline we can toggle.
Having epilepsy sucks because of these things
has anyone else had horrible motion sickness since the update? i already have the motion sickness settings on which helped loads in the past when i first turned it on but something about it since the last update is causing super bad nausea for me
my inability to look up lmfao. i was just trying to hunt and i would have to stop so fast!!
I was trying to look for ores and heartwood. mannn, panning the camera looking for things for hunting, looking for ores, looking for gatherables, or looking for trees I can cut at my level in bahari bay makes me motion sick to the point of needing to lie down super fast.
I changed some things, and finally did something right, and I can mostly move around in peace in kilima. but bahari bay is a no go
i just wanted to grind some money for the new house stuff man 😭 do you remember what settings you tried to change? i literally thought the prism in my glasses prescription was messing me up so i got to the point yesterday moving my monitor and taking my glasses off and THOSE very irl things didn’t help at all
so for one thing the day before yesterday I'd set up the FOV to 110 and that helped when moving around kilima, but when I went to bahari bay it distorted the bg so so bad that I got dizzy in like 5 min. yesterday I moved the FOV to 100 and I managed to last a bit longer in bahari bay, but still it's just like 15 min before I need to go lie down for a while.
A lot of it is also being very very gentle with the way I pan the camera around. In kilima I can pan it around a bit faster. but in bahari bay i need to move it super slow, and close one eye.
which btw, closing one eye actually helps with how fast I get motion sick! I when I'm panning the camera around a lot, I start alternating every so often, and close one eye, then change, then change back and so on.
🫂 completely, I am hoping to have a lot of people send feedback asking for a toggle to turn flashing off for people's safety
not just people impacted by it. like, everyone
I just came back after like 2 years and am surprised that so many of these issues haven't been resolved. I really hate the flashing when digging plots, many of us asked for this to be toggleable years ago.
Is it possible to scale the UI? This is a basic feature in the vast majority of games and I cannot find it at all.
Please please please add a talk to text option. Chat can still be censored if necessary this way, but it would literally be game-changing for people.
Sorry I'm esl and im unsure, do you mean scale the window? If so it's in the graphics tab, and then inside there on the second tab
No I mean scale the UI elements
Otherwise, I'm not quite sure what scaling the UI means or looks like
Making the UI elements a different size, it's a pretty standard feature in most games especially MMOs
So like the item bar, focus bar, all the windows etc
Oh! I get it now
Yeah no, cant scale that 😔 which is a pain cuz i have bad eyesight and i need to hover over stuff for it to tell what in the world that is
Pretty weird considering how long the game has been in development to not have such a basic feature
But this game lacks quite a lot of basic features that are normal in other online games so I guess I shouldn't be surprised
Apparently there is a way to go into some text file and change it but I'm unsure on the details of that
Oh I'm so bad with tech stuff. Solutions like that always make me feel like if i try it, I'll break the game 🤣🤣🤣
some updates I find I have to reset graphics settings and then tweak again from there because something changed making my previous settings hurt instead of help
Yeah s6 is known to silently tweak things frequently. I miss the lighting from alpha days, it was good then and now it just keeps getting worse and harder on those of us with sensitivities each time it's tweaked.
Man, the other day I was fishing right as twilight? or dusk? idk but there was a shadow of something right beside me, and it kept flickering 💀 and I've seen a lot of shadows flicker often as the lighting changes
yea I've seen flickers too, i just thought some textures were bugged
I thought it was my graphics 🤣
Just in case: do you have motion blur turned off? And the centre reticle turned on?
I get insanely bad motion sickness (Cyberpunk 2077 was absolutely unplayable when it first came out) and these settings have helped me a lot
Oofta. Anyone with sensory issues might want to avoid the Little Red outfit. The fluttery and sporadic movement of the cape drives my sensory issues a little wild 🥲 which is disappointing because it's so cute
Surprisingly, I don't have any issues with this outfit.
It's one of very, very few in the open world and on my character that don't cause problems, and the animation effect is subtle, unlike so many
I don't know why the costume designers like these wild, flashy animations so much, but some of them are just so, so flashy and they don't come with toggles to shut them off--or any way for other players to shut them off; it's obnoxious and unnecessary.
Let players have them if they wish and paid for them, but let players also have the option of toggling them off in the overworld if we don't want to see them on others/ourselves.
I was pretty shocked by how it looked while running and regretted the purchase. Fortunately I got used to it pretty fast, but I can absolutely see how it can be unbearable for some 😢 that's an insane level of swish
Is there a way to make the 'press any key to start' incluce mouse clicks?
i mean, my mouse can do that, but thats because my mouse is a hyperx pulsefire core which has 2 dpi buttons and 2 side mouse buttons on it, and rebound it from the hyperx ngenuity app so that the dpi buttons act like the up and down arrow keys, idk if you also need to rebound keybinds in palia as well since i also made the dpi buttons bound to interact and jump
popping in here again, please send feedback about flashing lighting if you are willing 💜
the new flickering plants make issues even worse.
there are a ton of seizure and photosensitivity triggers and s6 doesn't seem to care
dispel arrows, fireworks, maji market strobe lights and firework explosions, flares, sneaky smoke bombs, flashing outfit change animations
and the new animated flashing arrows
some day we'll get the outfit vfx toggle #♿│accessibility-discussions message
Can we please have some way to mute or hide chat from popping up? Most of the time it is helpful, but more and more recently I have been experiencing people just trolling because they think it is funny and honestly it is exhausting trying to report every single one of them and it really takes away from the experience of the game feeling like you have to be the chat police.
there is the streamer mode you can use to turn off the chat
Is your name hidden to others though? Like if you apply that setting?
i mean it should hide your name to others, personally i never really use it the intended way of hiding my name, i just use it to hide chat so i dont have to deal with censoring when i make and edit videos, you can try and test it with someone if the feature works
Okay, thank you so much! I appreciate you!
It doesn't hide your name from others in game it just hides your name on your screen. It's intended for streamers who don't want their viewers to see their in game name.
is there anyway a dyslexia friendly font could be added to the game as i rlly struggle to read the long chats
omg right? 😭 or even a way to make the font bigger or something. the other day I really could not tell for the life of me how many bok choy seeds I had because I couldn't read the first number. so I took them all out of the chest and then added them back in (counting them again as I went).
i feel thatttttttt
The devs really need to make it so you can customize the size of menus and text. Other games have that functionality and it's one of the main things that continues to bother me about this game. I have dyslexia and poor eyesight, so the screen has to be either really large or I need to sit really close to the screen. But when I sit too close to the screen and play too long, it can sometimes trigger my vertigo. So it's like either way I can't win.
I don't get why the devs didn't add the ability to adjust menu/text size. It makes me think they must not have anyone working for them who is disabled or familiar with accessibility needs 😡
Like in my bedroom I have a medium size TV, and even when I have it pushed up against the end of my bed, it's not big enough and I sometimes have to scoot closer just so I can see something.
I wish that - for inventory items - they didn't have "x1" when you only have 1 item. If there's just one item, it doesn't need to say "x1". It would be easy to see if you have just one item. But because it isn't like that, and the text is so small, there have been times I thought I had more than one and then it ended up being the last one.
So if the devs are reading this, please consider making small adjustments to the menu sizes and how quantities are listed so it's easier to see/read!
Thank you! Thankfull I came across a lobby of absolute cuties last night that restored my faith in people being good/kind in the game instead of trolling ❤️
How do I make a spot on a cooking plot sensory friendly
I'd say don't go overboard with decor and colors. Keep it simple, clean, and easy on the eyes
Barriers between cooking stations to prevent visual overstimulation, an area to run around in
Low sensory areas need distance and visual barriers between stations, nothing intractable near cooking stations (lights, faucets, etc) to avoid issues interacting with cooking stations, no moving wallpaper, no moving objects, no flickering lights like candles etc, no jukebox or music boxes playing, etc and no one running around those areas. As above, keep colors simple, nothing too bright or saturated, well lit but no harsh bright lights.
For those that need stimulation or get restless, place those stations as far as possible from low sensory areas, have intractable objects nearby but not too close to stations, room to jump and run a bit, maybe a spot to fish during breaks
Can I show you what it is so far?
Open, not very much color, away from people
you can do something like this, although idk how others will feel about this approach, you can put in all of the cooking stations in one room per person if you are one of those people who cook different types of dishes everytime you host a party, it kind of checks out everything, simple wallpaper, no other forms of interactable objects/furniture such as faucets and the tent acts as a barrier for anything so each player has their own cooking "room" and you can space out each tent
This has actually been talked about in the past, and ill link to the msgs of all the suggestions/ideas that people mentioned previously!

hey there - I've heard there are a few games settings to help with Motion sickness.
Anyone have any tips on what settings to change for that?
If you don't get answers to your questions, try searching this channel to see if the question has been asked and answered before. Just look for the 🔍 in the top right corner.
I suppose I didn’t even realize some people get overstimulated with the premium outfits. I usually play alone but it’s still good to know
I missing so much a player ( mariaa31) Can you please contact her and tell to come back to play with me.....I feel so bad without her. please contact her....
this is a channel for accessibility-related topics. we have no ability to connect you with any player you’ve played with previously. you can message them directly when they’re online if you’re friends with them in-game.
i get overstimulated by some but then sometimes i end up staring at someone’s outfit/effects for too long bc it’s a nice visual stim and don’t realize i’ve been standing there forever 😂
Is there a way to bulk buy items in the shops? I have carpal tunnel syndrome so it gets hard after a round of going to the shops to stock up
omg right. I find the clicking x times to buy x number of items a biit hard, but it's because I have dyscalculia and I always end up counting wrong and accidentally buying one or two more of the the thing i need. so instead of buying 18 seeds, i buy 19 or 20
plus, my game lags?? (or maybe it's my bad eyesight) and it looks like I bought 18, but then when I go plant things I end up with one extra
There isn't, no.
maji market still has violent strobe lights from drums and fireworks
people are gonna have more seizures :(
please send feedback, I'm so tired of getting sick when someone uses the drums
There's no way of turning that off in the settings? (I'm sorta surprised)
Nope. There's no way to toggle any sort of Visual effects. We've been asking and hoping for one for a long time now.
I'm usually not photosensitive, but I am epileptic, so I know how serious of an issue this really is. For people who are photosensitive, it gets dangerous really fast. If the devs either can't or refuse to add some accessibility options to at least keep people safe, they're inevitably going to lose players. 🙁
If you go to the settings menu and to the graphics settings tab, it's labeled as "effects" change this from whatever it is for you (likely high or epic) to low and anything flashing stops as well as outfit animations
Huh? I have all the graphics stuff on whatever the lowest is (on PC, and those few that exist on Switch too but there aren't that many), and certainly still get flashing and effects and stuff... Unless there was a hotfix I missed or so...
I am also on pc and have everything on the lowest settings and it doesn't show any of that to me
That's odd... Give me a second to check it, but I could've sworn last weekend that stuff was still there.
It might be circumstantial for me.
I'm playing on the lowest settings out of necessity just to run the game on my ancient gaming laptop while my newer one is getting repaired.
I've played around with the graphics settings a lot for this month and noticed that when I change the "effects" option to anything but low, it renders all the lights and stuff but on low, it doesn't.
It might be different on a system that can handle the game at highest settings even when they're all turned to low
Similar here, I can handle a few things above lowest but not many... Switch still doesn't have that setting and also still is flashy, time to check the PC version.
Ooooof I thought the advice could help🥲 I didn't realize other systems don't have the same settings options
Still could help if it works for some devices! Switch in general has fairly few settings for some reason...
And it's taking its time to open, Steam wants to update the Steam software apparently...
Also to be fair, I haven't been to the market since having to use my old laptop because there's too many people in one spot and my pc refuses to let the game run with that. The one time I tried going last month the game just crashed and I haven't tried since
Fair! My flashy stuff ideas are (I usually just find that stuff annoying, not an actual medical problem, so the relevancy might vary):
- Outfit shop (or outfits in the world if I can find them)
- fishing something and hope I get the fancy animation, no clue when it plays but it can get huge
- Shooting fireworks on my plot (though I'm not that bothered by those)
- Shooting arrows and throwing smoke bombs
- watering stuff
Yeah, I have extreme photo sensitivity when I have a migraine, but it doesn't cause the migraine for me, so i just hop off the computer fully when I get the first sign of an aura
When elderwood first came out, I may or may have not mistook someone's fancy outfit to be an infected tree and promptly began chopping them (I was not yet used to the darkness of elderwood) and just as promptly traveled home to switch servers upon seeing that I was not cutting down a tree
if we don't laugh we will cry folks (edit: I know this is accessibility not to worry. I would be thrilled to have a lantern or headlight of some sort to get me through elderwood and the other dark areas in game. I greatly benefited from the light ring thingy in stardew valley)
right, a light ring or something would help so much 😭
Hi everyone - Apologies if this has been asked before but is there a way to enable subtitles in game? I was told I would love Badruu's puns but their spoken lines don't always match the text and half the time, leaving a convo sparks another spoken line that has no subtitles.
Thanks for any help!
I just followed you
the dialogue box i think is unfortunately all we get. fwiw the stuff characters say while walking away are one-off lines not connected to the interaction; they only change based on relationship level (and i’m not sure badruu’s change at all.) i looked them up in the wiki when i was curious.
a lantern would be so helpful omg
Or being able to carry the extra torches from the fire temple because how did I acquire so many where are they coming from lol
yeah, i've done this before and it sadly doesn't disable the flashing. In fact, with some areas, it made it worse for me.

does anyone know if there is a setting to turn off the animation when clicking on ranching animals? the camera moves a lot and its been making me dizzy
Please @ me if there’s a way to do that. The camera movements bother me as well
not just that, the camera zooming in when watering and tilling the plot makes me incredibly dizzy as well, I really wish there was a way to stop those animations.
what I've noticed is that increasing the FOV, even if you just move it from 90 to 100, makes the camera zoom in a lot slower and it's gentler on my motion sickness. I'm not sure if that might help with clicking on ranching animals? I can't test it out cuz I don't have animals yet jasjdjjd
tested it with all fovs besides 30 (apparently that fov option is bugged and nothing happens when you pick it), i cant really tell how slow the camera speed goes but thats because i never experience motion sickness whatsoever so you guys have to watch it in full and see which fov is comfortable i guess, one thing that i noticed at least while testing is that where your character and camera maybe? faces affects how fast the camera will move around from targetting your animal back to your character
also something else to add, idk if this will also affect other animals since i only tested it with my bumble and if your fps matters as well when it comes to this since i have my fps to the max for performance
wow mana, bless your eyes, idk how you didn't die with the zooming on the fov's before 100 😵💫
simply put, fps player, i have to do fast flicks when i play those games which is why stuff like motion sickness never happens to me because im used to it, also why im not good when it comes to identifying accessibility issues since stuff like flashbangs dont affect me at all, which is why i always say that you guys watch the video and draw your own conclusions based on your own
ah I didn't use to get so badly motion sick, but high-red screens have been triggering it BAD. good old VGA screens were gentle on me /silly
I do agree that the angle affects how fast and how vertigo inducing the camera movement is
honestly anything to make it slightly better is such a huge help
I get so dizzy playing the chappaa hunt game! Also they really really need to add an on screen notification/captions for some of their audio stuff. Specifically scaring bugs, dragonflies, chappa/animal spawns, and dialog like someone said up there. I’m barely HOH with motion sickness and I can’t play it during flares. Doesnt seem fair that basic audio accessibility features aren’t available yet. I know it’s still Beta and I love this game so much but if it’s supposed to be “home” they really do need to prioritize that imo. Sorry if that’s salty again I really love the attention, love and care they put into this game.
Honey, essence, and some forages are also a lot harder to without audio. Also fishing! The bobber barely bobs and you have to be starting right at it the whole time bc it flicks away so fast without much visual change or haptics.
hard agree, the only times i find honey are when i am within 3 meters of it and happen to look directly at it
audio cues are not the best for me
and for fishing, the line flying around as you move the bobber causes dizziness for me which is terrible having to try 20 times for a single fish
hopefully more improvements happen sooner then later
ive got most of my honey by requesting it, probably only found 5 ever
As someone who can hear just fine but often plays without audio:
Honey has certain areas where it spawns more densely. If I need honey I go to Mitana Grove and there are specific trees it tends to spawn in, just look at the trees.
Saying this to be helpful, not dismissive
My audio is off & I have no issues, yes I have issues with flashy things & camera movement, I adjusted most mine in settings & it helps. Fireworks well I keep my camera away from the water easily dealt with. During balloons & chapaas when I am forced to look at water no one is shooting fireworks cuz they shooting balloons. Honey I have no issues finding it especially by Mitana grove, just keep looking for yellow things floating in trees lol. I learned to work without the hints of sounds it can be done.
someone said earlier that it would be awesome to have the feature to possibly make the bugs glow too. and I super agree. I'm more sensitive to hearing, so I hear the fellas making sounds and moving around, I just cannot see them for the life of me 💀 and then panning the camera around quickly to look for them makes me super dizzy.
if they're far way I can find them and hunt them, but if they're nearby it's most likely I end up scaring them and having to chase after them, which, you guessed it! makes me dizzy
it’d also help lower end hardware players — when i’m on my steam deck, i’m always afraid i’ll run into something rare someone is trying to catch.
Another suggestion: Could we maybe get an icon on the map when the flower event in Kilima and the bounce event in Elderwood show up? Finding these in time get harder when most people are done with them.
Also, please make fishing easier. OMG, the bobber doesn't move fast enough sometimes and even with the glowing bobber, it's hard to see if it clips behind foliage, rocks, etc.
Yes! Fishing doesn't even have any community workarounds the way the other skills relying on eyesight, sound or speed have!
Not to mention if you have random hand tremors. 🙁
True, or issues with holding a button I suppose.
This isn't much but when you need to click to grab the fish your character also like kind of lunches forward. I keep an eye on mine when the bobber is in a weird place
PSA to anyone decorating, turn off the paltch fan beforehand, the closeup spinning of it gave me such bad motion sickness.🤢

Feedback- Re: Animal Farming - I don’t understand why have alot of pens if all the animals are always together. They should be separated by species.. and it’s super glitchy, whenever breeding the animal disappears and then appears in a different pen with the adult animals .. I don’t understand that. All animals should be separated when newly born and young adults - instead of having old and new in the main pen. I don’t get it and it’s frustrating for me.
hey there! you can use the feedback form linked in the message above yours to submit this feedback. unless i'm missing something (and i apologize if i am!), your feedback is related to gameplay. this channel is for discussing how players with disabilities interact with the game, issues they face, improvements they'd like to see, etc. so please use the feedback form to send the feedback to the game studio directly. there's also https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/809886640285417480 and https://discord.com/channels/809856101326913567/1415180802802847754 if you'd like to discuss this with other players!
Ohh sorry about that
I clicked on the link but tells me to send a request and. Nothing there says to send feedback - it’s more for game issues so, where do I put in for feedback ???
There are several links in that message, sounds like you clicked support and not feedback.
https://palia.info/feedback doesn't work for you?
Palia Player Feedback.
Yes that’s the same link - when I click it takes to click on one of the following but doesn’t have anything for feedback
Doesn’t work - there’s nothing that says send feedback it’s for other support game issues
this is what clicking the link for feedback looks like from pc
are you maybe accessing thru mobile and that's causing issues?
Yes that’s the same exact link now.. when you click it - it gives you to send support for everything. Else but not to send feedback ..
Either way - I’m just not going to send it .. honestly it’s just a waste of time - not trying to be negative but because I’ve send for game support and they responded a month later ..
But thanks for trying to help.
Do you mean that on the above image which tallas posted that you clicked the support link on that page? Or did you click the "next" button on the bottom of that page?
This is what I see on mobile after using the next button at the bottom of the page
if you choose feedback as the ticket reason from the drop down on the support site it should automatically send you to the feedback form
gonna have to quit playing, I poured 1.5k hours into this game but the strobe lights keep getting worse and it's like s6 is trolling with adding more flashing things
if they cared they would have done something by now
Is there a way to turn off the flashing number effects some people have when mining or shooting something?
it always hurts and if I am around it for too long it causes a headache lol idk why
wait, strobe lights? do you mean graphics flashing? if so, have you checked for a graphics card update? Idk if you're playing on PC, but that'll happen to me in a lot of games if I need to update drivers ❤️
nope, i mean fulllllll on violent strobe lights. there are a ton of flashing effects in this game, but the maji market drums fireworks are the absolute worst. it is the classic seizure inducing combo of >3 flashes per second + rapidly changing colours + across the whole screen. extremely dangerous. i was in bed for over 2 days in searing pain after getting flashbanged at the market, reported it months ago and they've done nothing
please do send feedback and ask your friends to, i've been trying to get people to beg s6 for epilepsy and other photosensitivity safety. there is zero way to minimize any flashing, other than asking other players to not do flashy things. and s6 keeps adding more flashing things despite talking about planning to improve accessibility ...
so if you're having pain from flashing please be careful of
-maji market, (there are also random fireworks throughout the day that explode across the screen)
-sticky smoke bombs (any bug lure parties will have rapid flashing from smoke bombs but sticky ones are the flashiest),
-dispel arrows (worst in elderwood where it's darker),
-people who use the flashy animated toolskins (they add a flash animation to arrows),
-certain outfit change animations when people switch outfits
-firework arrows,
-looking up at flares
they need to add a toggle to turn off flashing effects on client side. so far they've only ever mentioned making a toggle for outfit animations, but nothing about preventing seizures
i know a lot of people that get headaches from the effects as well or it hurts their eyes, it's not uncommon. like, folks that don't normally have any photosensitivity but do get pain from this game
so the more people that send feedback and/or reports the better tbh
(sorry for wall of text)
I'm asking this genuinely to understand, how do flares trigger epilepsy? They don't really flash, just go up and down with a smoke trail
for me flares are bad if someone shoots it directly on the item (ore, plant, etc) since the raining smoke covers most of the screen while getting it and for ores that can be several seconds of dealing with it with lower tier pickaxes
this is why i just shoot near the item rather then right on top of it
But also to piggy back, I feel like there should be a specific volume control for fireworks
Oh yeah okay that makes sense, I'll try avoiding direct hits now as well
i can't speak to epilepsy triggers specifically, but photosensitivity covers a huge range of neurological issues
mine is rare and way less well known, but the triggers include single flashes and bright lights, rapidly changing colours and vivid colours. so there's a bunch of overlap and end result is very, very bad
flares flash when you first shoot them (wherever the arrow lands), as well as at the top of it if you look up, it will flash as it reaches the top of the smoke each time
I'm so sorry to hear all of this 🙁 I know you mentioned you won't be playing until this is resolved, but I would like to offer anyway. If you want to add me in the game (IGN: Tish Addams) I would be more than happy to let you join my party at the Maji Market and just do something else while hanging out nearby so you can get some tickets! ❤️
The only game I have issues with at the market is the chapaa chase LOL it gives me mild motion sickness if I'm not careful.
I wouldn't have understood what you meant by this until someone just flared balloons at the balloon game at Maji Market
and I almost lost it 🤣
thank you i appreciate it ♥ yea i've been avoiding going into the fairgrounds at all because it's the entire zone and screen that strobes
yikes lol
i do some limited playing, but it bums me out having to skip a lot of things, or asking a bunch of people to not do specific things that they'd normally wanna do
and having to avoid big fun parts of the game entirely
is it possible to set a minimum timer for hot pot?
spam tables are super annoying to keep up with and they always yell at you
Ty for the explanation!!
this is the accessibility channel, i think that might be best to send as feedback or maybe discuss in #💬│palia-discussions , i'm not sure
Isn't that question highly relevant from an accessability standpoint?
This issue has gotten so bad that I started to avoid going down to the underground
that is a social issue imo because everyone can do spampot if they want to
well, that's a huge generalisation
some folks may not have the speed needed due to physical disabilities yes
if it's an issue of not wanting people to do spampot at all, that'd be a social thing
if it's an issue of the game having settings that aren't accessible for folks with disabilities (like unchangeable tiny writing for some folks with low vision) then that's accessibility
hotpot is still possible, so if the issue is how specific folks are playing it, that's to do with the players
idk, maybe you're right.. maybe it is a bit of both. I avoid spampots like the plague, but sometimes you end up at one regardless, which causes the social issues I guess.
I just dont want a bunch of people yelling at me for stuff I can't help.
folks will announce which tables are for spam, and maybe it might help if you arrange for a party of friends to play regular hotpot? and then find one of the lone tables so other folks are less likely to come up and jump in between rounds
it can also help to find a solo table and say something in server or nearby, like 'reg hotpot room for 2' or w/e
In theory you're right. 100% of the incidents I've had it wasn't properly announced.
Maybe add a sign or something that looks toxic so regular people will know to avoid it
that definitely won't help smooth the social element
idk, i haven't had issues with hotpot personally but if i'm walking up to a table i ask if it's spam or reg if i just got there
or i start my own
Not yet - a toggle for premium outfit vfx is supposed to be in the works, not for every element of outfit animation though and bo eta yet #♿│accessibility-discussions message
To add to your list - Premium outfits, watering, hoeing, petting animals, all ammo to some degree now, home tours (going between dark & bright landscapes, endless expanse, glitches loading in)
I've never posted here before so I apologize if this is a dumb question. But would asking about getting more body types be an accessibility discussion or would it need to be somewhere else?
That can go to the "genchat" #💬│palia-general this thread is more about accessibility in regard to graphics, controls, etc.
Understood, thank you for your reply

hi i have screen shake off but the screen is still shaking sometimes when mining. is this a known issue? i double checked the setting, screen shake is unchecked
yo, maybe that's why mining makes so so dizzy :0
now that you mention it my screen does also shake sometimes when with screen shake off
yes that is a bug that can happen.
Thank you! That's very comforting.
no problem! feel free to ask any other questions you might have
Have you officially reported it as feedback yet?
months ago yes
That's so frustrating
i haven't ever gotten any acknowledgement about it either, it makes me so sad
like from any s6 people at all
Yeah aside from doing an accessibility audit, working on the full screen flashes on scene changes, adding a little seen warning (in announcements which doesnt show up if you select only show new info) about snowballs as they worked on fixing a year old flash with them, and the start of work on vfx toggle (mostly oblique references to the overarching issue at best and limited in scope, but still giving them a little credit) there's been no direct acknowledgement of the visual issues despite the legal exposure (many games have the photosensitiviry warning on unskipable loading pages if they're not going to reduce them) even with folks talking about needing rescue meds or having a flare up. It's been 2 years of beta and 4 years since the start of players being hands on with pre-alpha
it is happening pretty significantly to me
Also, maybe enabl us to click on an NPC on the map and it will track them like the tracker works for quests?
that should work like dropping a map marker already
You can do that! It's clicking with the scroll wheel on PC.
Is there a way to see the indicators for a fish tugging? As in not relying on hearing?
when a fish is about to spawn into your hook, your fishing line will tug 3 times, by the 3rd time, you character will jump into motion as if being ready to start reeling in, this is also the time you yourself should start reeling in, the game does also give you a sound effect when a fish has bit into your fishing hook but as you have said before, you cannot rely on hearing so these are the other ways of knowing when the fish has bit into your fishing hook
You know, I've never really thought about that
I don't rely on hearing, and I fish a ton
the bobber will tug significantly when a fish bites and the fish will jump at the bobber as well
timing is like the previous person said, it can be sped up a bit when you get the buff from other people fishing near you, as well as trout dinner
the default bobber is really hard to see, but once you complete the fire bundle (vault of flames I think it's called?) you get one that's easier to see. and you can buy some from Einar too
if you miss the first time it bites, you can wait and it will bite again, just don't click until the fish is on the line
Is there any way to bind the camera movement to keys? I have arthritis in my hands and holding down mouse or controller buttons is painful compared to keys (I use an ergonomic split keyboard). I can bind the tool use to a key but I can't seem to find a way to bind the camera movement. It would be ideal if I could keep movement on the WSAD keys and bind the camera to my arrow keys on the inverted-T. Additionally if anyone asks, I have been trying vertical mice and they don't seem to help much.
If you play on Switch (idk about other systems) the controller vibrates when it bites!
Yesss I learned quickly with my Xbox but I cant see the TV well 😹😹😹 I play both pc and Xbox! I do have a switch as well. I play mainly pc unless im not feeling well.
the lure will pop 3 times before it catches! on the third will be the catch. c:
that sent WAY late, mb. lolz.
I don't thiiink there is in-game but there might be software to do that overall on the computer?
I don't know enough to make any recommendations but maybe other folks or general accessibility or arthritis forums might know
converting keystrokes into mouse movements
WHAT? I didn't know that! Is there in game notifications for that?
there's an icon on the map that shows the button to press to drop a marker, the marker shows on the map and on the compass
Is there anything that can be done about the visual when the fishing rod can't cast? It does a wavy camera effect that immediately triggers motion sickness for me. Wondering if there's a camera feature I can disable or something?
I realize one solution would be to not cast in uncastable areas, but the moss at De Mer be foolin me sometimes
There should be a motion sickness option in setting
I have that, but this effect still occurs
Do you have this off?
yes! 🤓
What do you play on?
Please remove the random zoom in feature for watering. It feels like vertigo and isn't very fun. I have to close my eyes sometimes.
Also please fix the screen shake not actually disabling screen shake for mining and such

the feedback link above is the best place to make that suggestion ❤️ I don't think the devs actually read the suggestions and things we mention in this channel
no shade, we just talk a lot 😂
hm ok, that's a bit disrespectful of the devs to have this channel then to like not read it, i don't get the point
they stopped using discord for feedback in... late 2023? early 2024? because live chat is the worst way to take feedback and the server got big
tbf this is a discussion channel, not a feedback channel, and yea itd be way too hard to keep track of things in a open chat like discord is
PC (Steam)
Then I'm unsure you may try sending in a report seeing if it's some kind of bug
Ok, I'll do that then - thank you ❤️
Your welcome
?
Didnt mean to send that! Sorry.
I am having some issues with my Mac thoough, I have downloaded Steam to play Palia on my Mac but have not been able to access the game. Any suggestions?
Ask in #1136399336385806427 , accessibility is about the needs of disabled players.
I guess I don't see a point in just sitting around and discussing accessibility needs if the devs don't even read it.
I mean we can talk till the end of time but if it doesn't impact the game in anyway, I don't see a point imo.
I mean a major accessibility issue like screen shake disabling not actually disabling screen shake kinda says that there wasn't even testing for that flag.
I know Lacie does check this channel from time-to-time, but also as CM, she handles a bunch of stuff both within the server and the work she does behind-the-scenes with S6.
But also, I've seen this channel be super helpful, even if it's just sharing solutions each other found or resources other than stuff in-game to help each other be able to play. :3
Many people gain comfort from knowing others experience the same issues as they do, hence the discussion channel. As Queen mentioned, there's also a lot of player side tricks and tips that help accessibility needs to the degrees they can. The formal feedback has always been the way feedback formally makes it to the team from players.
If discussing doesn't work for you, that's okay. If the feedback form doesn't work for you either, that's okay too. The formal pathways are our only (guaranteed) pathways to communicate needs to the development teams and any persons overseeing accessibility changes in Palia. Lacie does a great job of picking bits and pieces up when she can, but she can't capture everything that's talked about as desired or wanted. That's why a lot of folks recommend using the formal pathway so that the concerns do make it to S6.
yeah, there's a bunch of stuff in the pins but there's also newer versions of the tips discussed, warnings of new/changed dangers in game, letting each other know about improvements in game, and more. We help each other better than s6 could help us since there are so so many uncommon triggers and disabilities can intersect in unusual ways they could never detail accommodations for even if they had every possible feature in game
Oh yeah, ok. I didn't even think to try it on NPC's.
There's also discussion of possible feedback items that leads to more detailed and expansive reports to s6
oh and other players have come in asking how to make their plot generally, parties generally, and cooking parties specifically friendly for sensory issues which helps the sense of community in this discord and in the game - so lots of reasons to have a discussion channel like this one
This channel led me to a (probably slightly obvious but my brain doesnt think of alternate methods very well) way of making cooking parties less overwhelming by having my station turned away or off to the side. I see everybody's timers popping in and out and can't always keep track of my bubble.
That’s a great idea. I wouldn’t say it’s that obvious. It just seems obvious when you thought about it once.
I quit playing such a long time ago when requests for accessibility were ignored and more features that clashed with accessibility were being added more and more, but I've been regularly reading the accessibility discussions even after quitting. Nothing has changed. This company isn't showing any care towards accessibility still besides empty promises of a future they refuse to attempt to prove will happen. This chat honestly just placates us all so we stop being angry and demanding answers. This company falsely advertised inclusivity in their game, but does not include the disabled. It doesn't even include their original employees, who they laid off en masse
just to let you know that was before daybreak took over. its a different company now that has palia in its hands
There are a lot of flashes I have noticed with certain animations people doing not sure if it’s a visual bug or not?
As someone with epilepsy I find it very concerning and I’m not really sure what to do about it or where to put my concerns?
If possible to have a turn animations for like some things such as certain outfits people wear off or even weapons animations off that would be great
and would make playing the game easier for me and anyone else with epilepsy or photosensitivity thanks
So two companies that both have ignored accessibility then
!feedback (instructions below) would be the best place to let the devs know :-)

I agree. I'm still shocked that something as simple as disabling screen shake doesn't work. That's like one of the easiest accessibility things to have since it just fixes the camera in the game engine and even that doesn't work despite having an option for it.
I know there are devs who care about the accessibility issues but the teams are so siloed and clearly lacking an overarching prioritization of accessibility from a leadership position, which results in this situation. Sure plenty of games are just as inaccessible but most of those have better and persistent warnings for photosensitivity, but the real reason it hurts so much to see palia so inaccessible and why the anger is there for many if us is because palia was marketed to us as inclusive and they didn't actually deliver on that.
I submitted a bug report but honestly with the big 'we have a backlog you won't get a response' etc messages at the top, it really just felt like screaming into the void
I definitely appreciate everyone who is hopeful for change and is submitting new feedback forms on the myriad issues we experience here but I also understand the disappointment, anger, and burnout from players who have tried to raise concerns and advocate for themselves and others with very little result.
CS used to catch up with in a week of updates, now they haven't gotten under 2 weeks across support categories since before May's update.
The accessibility section in patch notes and the mention of accessibility since may are a new thing, but it does come about 10 months after acquisition so its hard to say if that really is ownership prioritizing accessibility or just natural evolution that's long overdue.
We do have alternate pathing in temple of the roots with a dev saying that there are plans for how to do it for other temples that hasn't made it on the prioritization list.
A premium outfit vfx toggle is underway we've been told.
However new flashing elements are added every patch.
Hope and disillusionment both have grounds.
this channel is for discussing accessibility, not server status or maintenance. please wait for others to respond to you in general chat.
what kind of suggestions?
and it's impossible to find social games that care about photosensitivity too, so we're stuck with just "don't play any games" and I had hoped palia was different and wanted to be inclusive
palia is inclusive with bipoc and lgbtq+ representation, so my first impression for a fair while was awesome. but it became clear s6 doesn't want to make a game inclusive of people with disabilities, I tried to advocate and me and my friends submitted feedback, I've heard about people having seizures and they and their friends sending feedback
adding a toggle for flashing isn't gonna happen
I have photosensitivity with a severe migraine disorder, I've tried for idk how many months to advocate for this.
unfortunately s6 is not going to change the flashing and please avoid the maji market and any bug lures. (sticky bombs are the worst
maji market has violent strobe lighting that changes colours rapidly and takes up the whole screen, and it's impossible to predict when a random player will make it happen.
this game is absolutely not safe for photosensitivity, there's a lot of other flashing effects and yeah like others said s6 doesn't care and keeps adding more flashing with almost every update
also, avoid all social parties with other players, it's tradition for people to spam fireworks after events and cooking parties
Some people do hold accessibility minded cooking parties so while your last part is generally a good precaution you can find some groups who have shared concerns and/or are very mindful of them.

not a good place to do the trading command, this chat is more for accessibility discussions
that was insensitive, this channel is for accessibility
they are very difficult to find and rare, and about 3/4 of the time when I've asked parties to not do fireworks, people have complained or made jokes about it or just did them anyway
the game devs want a flashy game
yeah it's absolutely frustrating that those of us who have the most barriers also have to do the most work to find safe groups to play with. Random groups, the lfg channels here, and the general party apps are definitely going to make finding a group like that harder, and even the people who mean well usually aren't well informed about what makes the game more or less accessible. This channel is one of the better places to ask if you need help in game with anything, and I am pretty sure some people do make other discord servers that organize events that prioritize these things, so finding those would probably help for anyone still playing and wanting to party up for fun or to get help with something.
I 100% understand being really jaded with s6 and very upset, I'm there too. I definitely understand not having the time or spoons to do the extra work though and if you just need to vent about this then ignore me, but I'll leave the message for anyone here who is still trying to enjoy the game in an accessible-as-possible manner and that it might help to do so.
thats so rude tho :( the parties ive attended never did any fireworks if someone asked if they couldnt. which should be the norm!
yeah, it's basically like,
i made the mistake of getting really into this game and putting up with things that triggered severe migraines because I believed that s6 was serious about partnering with Minecraft for accessibility. and major parts of Minecraft accessibility for me are that you can turn off flashing and their settings for motion sickness. so I was dumb and ended up spending money and getting socially invested in communities too
and then s6 has not only been radio silent about flashing and photosensitivity hazards, but they've actively added more safety hazards consistently with almost every patch.
so now I just hope to help prevent other folks with photosensitivity from playing this game so they don't experience the same harms to health and the sadness and isolation feels that come with it being really obvious other people can enjoy things that we can't. and having to walk away from communities and feel left out often
it's better to avoid the game entirely
