Season of the Little Prince

Our tenth season begins on Tuesday July 6th at midnight PDT! Guide the Prince through the realms of Sky and discover which connections are important. The new spirits introduced in this season will eventually return as traveling spirits, as usual, but the unique nature of a collaboration means that some other things will be different from a typical season experience.

Some themed items will be available outside of the seasonal spirit constellations. They will also be available for different durations of the season (prices for in-app purchase items vary depending on region):
    Little Prince Scarf cape: $14.99 (Available until 7th seasonal quest begins)
    Little Prince Fox decorative prop: $9.99 (Available until 7th seasonal quest begins)
    Little Prince Asteroid jacket: $24.99 (Available after completing all seasonal quests)
    Sword Outfit: 200 candles (Available after completing all seasonal quests)
Please note that these items are not planned to return through Traveling Spirits.

I just completed the Eden quest and I realized my sky kid when unlit (no light but still with wing levels to give) walks much slower and has a different stance in the animation, is this new or is it purely for the quest? Edit: Also can't jump at all

the extremely slow walk in eden is a new development, we don't know if it's intentional final quest eden run was brutal, I went in with 149 and couldn't even reach the last sand dune before the last three statues even with a perfect run

Eden is super punishing. In the first part of the rock rain when I got hit I lost 5-6 WL each time. I got completely immobilised. As a chibi I noticed it is almost impossible to jump up on stairs or ledges not just in Eden but everywhere else. It makes it even more punishing experience to play the Eden level 😢

after the season ends and our contract with The Saint-Exupéry Estate expires, we have to remove certain copyrighted things to allow them to stay in the game, or restrict the access. everything we do involving an IP that is not our own is subject to review and approval from the IP holder.

I just did all the quests from the beginning till Eden and I am absolutely blown away by this season. TGC really outdid themselves, I was already excited when I saw the seasonal area and the cosmetics for the first time, but those quests just wow, I am so thankful this season exists And the Asteroid area is beautiful, I don’t even have words for how much I love all the work that went into this special season.

the only exception would be if we negotiate a new contract, but my experience with collabs in other games or other mediums/industries that is extremely unlikely to happen.

I think we might actually have a problem with the seasonal spirits if the little prince is not allowed to appear in-game at all after the season is over, because he contextualises every one of the spirit memories — not sure what’s going to happen there if his appearance has to be removed entirely, especially given that dialogue appears in those memories too

I wonder if the exclusive entry asteroid zone with the green cape will continue after the season ends? I suppose so, but, how is it that there will continue to be players who enter as the months go by and there are fewer active players who bought it who can enter? The cape is the key to enter and this will only be on sale for a few days and never again. It will not be like the blue cape in the office that you can enter to buy it. I would like to know if there will be other ways to visit that area after the end of the season, if not it will be a near-dead area as time passes.

i think there could be different meanings to the popcorn emoji depending on the situation. I agree that it's mostly used to express you're watching something unfold, and that often that is drama. but it could be anything, really. in the snake/krill comment above I personally saw it as "I'm going to sit here eating popcorn and watch the krill come". but if it's an emoji that generally causes negativity in the server because of how it's been used, then maybe it's best to just remove it? that way there are no misunderstandings.

context is key, there are tons of situations where popcorn is fun and harmless. the way it was used on a message that was providing information to someone with questions did not make sense to me which is why i asked ignis about it. it's usually good practice to ask clarifying questions about something that you don't understand.

It's not "harder" just more punishing if you get hit. Difficulty didn't change one bit, imho. Only issue with the slow Eden change is it's literally impossible to get all statues unless you have at least 41 wing buffs and all realm stars.

If you have that many wing buffs, the extra AC isn't really needed compared to a newer player where you're going to be doing Eden for weeks, so the extra 1-4 AC missed weekly compounds itself to making you do Eden more before you reach the point older players are at where you don't need to Eden that often. (I could literally not go to Eden for 34 TS and not run out of AC, for example in beta and live)

Personal spaces don't exist in the game and TGC does not have plans to add them for a variety of reasons, people can come there with you or you can get merged with em. Think of it as a behind the scenes for the season, or an official OOB.

I just find it odd to force players in there, especially for inexperienced ones. They might not even be able to finish the quest properly on the first go. Plus, it is a realm that takes a long time to finish, unlike the other quests.

Facing death and reborn is part of the game , and suits the story of lpp mixing with sky elements where eden is where we face death, personally I find the eden inclusion is okay since it's only a one time run for the story

Eden has gotten slow. It frustrates me that I can’t jump and move the way I used to.

It’s a nice emotional ride the first 4 times you do it, at this point I’ve done it 30+ times and it’s just more of chore than anything... I think Eden honestly lost its emotional appeal for me just because I went through it so many times, so I avoid the area like a plague

In the original story, it’s implied that the prince reunites with the rose - but in death... he chooses to leave his body behind and only send his spirit since there was no other way for him to go home
And since he was never there, the baobas plants and the volcanos would have wrecked havoc on the planet and his defenseless rose would have also died

It wasn't a difficulty raise, though. Making your skykid slower doesn't make it more difficult. If anything, it makes it easier, since you have more time to look around to where the next statue is.

I guess only time will tell at this point, but when we think of it that way, le petit prince was probably a really nice way to end the seasonal structure in that way.. we started with the most magical adventure with ark and we’d be ending with a most emotional story

Lore and spirits adds another element for sure and emotional connection to the game itself. However I'd like to see more innovation about the types of game play /things to do.
The ball is actually a nice simple idea if you start a game of football/volleyball somewhere like a shared space.
Could shared spaces lean more towards player generated mini games to share with others? Or is that too against the ethos of Sky?

To be honest, I’m genuinely not sure… I’d loveeee for there to be more seasonal areas, I think seasonal areas expand the world of sky and it feels like we’re slowly opening and discovering new areas

I think a lot of us were mad that a season about the little prince didn’t, at first, offer his cosmetics as the ultimate gift. But they have changed that, so now I feel that the cosmetics are fair
Both the IAP ones and the season ones
They do need to pay for the licensing tbh and I hope this season is a success ><

Honestly the only thing I’m wishing more for about this season is the seasonal area having the music from the teaser…

There has been lots of backlash already regarding the in app purchases, there's very little TGC can do as far as I'm aware, since this is a collab both parties must agree on what becomes an IAP and what becomes an IGC purchase. I personally think that the said seasonal content should've been locked behind AP instead of a massive paywall that's as expensive as my rent.

Also the conversion of USD to other currencies and cost of living is definitely an issue... I'm unclear if TGC do or don't have control over that?

Locking seasonal content behind an IAP would have basically gone against the whole idea of sky though - as a game that’s free to play but has some components that you’d need to pay for
Locking the season behind a paywall, keeps a bunch of people from accessing the content and that just doesn’t feel very much like sky

Usually when games do a season pass, you have everything in the season to unblock with hard work, and you can pay with real money if you dont have time to play

The IAPs don’t keep you from playing the game though and TGC gives you so many options for what to purchase that you can always look at your budget and spend accordingly
If you can’t afford the IAP this season, but can afford the seasonal pass, then go for the seasonal pass. There are multiple options

The area is in the ending credits, it’s not really a new area unlike the office and the Nintendo areas - more the staging for the cutscenes..

And to be fair, they did make the prince’s hair, rose and pants the ultimate gifts... so we are getting the prince’s cosmetics as part of the seasonal pass

I guess the thing about this season is that you don’t unlock everything with the adventure pass. Like I understand it’s a ‘special’ season because of TGC’s collaboration, and it might have made sense for like just the asteroid cape to be IAP. But the fox and scarf cape seem like they should just be part of the adventure pass. It’s not the singular items but the amount of money they all add up to, which most players won’t be able to afford. Basically a giant paywall in front of some cosmetics that are most representative of the little prince, because TGC knows that will get more people to buy them

I guess my expectations were a bit different... in the story, the prince has 2 sets of outfits, his regular and most recognizable one - the green pants and the scraf and his alternate one: the sword outfit + asteroid cape
I’ll be honest, I was expecting for the ults to be the scarf, the pants, and the rose
And I figured the alternatives would be IAP, so I was shocked when the scarf was put into the IAP and the sword pants could be attainable without a pass
And considering that most of it worked out as I expected, I considered it to be fair

I agree, and the other thing that kind of becomes problematic is if the content of the season is subject to change after the season ends to fall in line with contracts and licenses...
From the spirits that stay in the realm, to the realm’s content, to the content of the season (the quest giver etc..) so many variable factors and I think collab seasons are just a bit of... a bad idea... but I don’t want to completely say that ;-; I won’t say it until the end of this season in live and see what happens to it

While the IAPs prices are very odd, you don't really need them to experience the season in general and I think that's super cool www
Collabs will still always haunt me IAP wise, but the rest of the season is pretty surreal
