glad i didnt bug report yet cuz i was hoping ascencion warp was a bug i definitely relied very heavily on that. i warpe to pakka to get into the dark room while still alive. i wasnt dead yet though and itdefinitely caused checkpoint issues as you saw but if you jump aggressively at the column of light itll yeet you into ascent eventually

I'm not iOS (Assume you are due to roles) but have you tried restarting your device? That may help jiggle some loose screws on the update for you.

Usually when I tap on update, the Sky beta app was set on waiting status and I have to quit TestFlight and tap directly once on the Sky beta app icon to start downloading

I haven’t had issues with updates before but if your beta game account is linked to Game Center, Apple ID or a gmail, you can delete beta Sky app and redownload it from TestFlight. After that you can log back to your account safely using your linked ID or email 😊

Also, make sure you check whether you have enough space on your device. Last time this happened to me, I indeed did not have enough storage

I completely forgot about this. You need 2 times the app size free for an update (the app is a little over 800mb, so you'd need at least 1.6Gb free). This extra space is for your device to download the update and apply it before deleting the old app. (Technical mumbo jumbo, I know)

It gave an odd counter error after rebinding. Bug report 42310 and seems Kai is getting registration errors on carry and warp. Took a cache clear in beta for the pin to start working again for me after that counter error.

if you’re not sure it’s best to report. TGC does investigate the reports and if the player did nothing wrong they won’t be punished there’s some things that are obvious signs though like having items that aren’t possible in the game, making IAPs endlessly, weird effects without using a spell.

I had something similar. Annoyed the other 7 as I went in to the elevator alone, then tabbed out to discord for about 5minutes and came back to all 7 honking at me quite urgently. I wouldn't worry about it. Beta is beta. Sometimes that area takes a long time to load a full server.

I just had a thought about the kill switch in eden. In the off chance that someone wasn't camping out in eden but still stayed long enough for it to kick in, should there be a little warning before it happens? it might make it more obvious that its an intended feature to those that encounter it, and also can tell the player that they don't have much time left.

The white candles for heart fragments, as you mentioned, was misleading to me. And watching them come down for another player when trying to light friends made lighting them kind of challenging.

The only problem I could see having a warning timer before the fiesta is a griefer would still stay until that message at least and could go home and back to pnr to grief someone else the x minutes after their death, if a server merge happened.

Edit: maybe just a message after the first player dies to let others know they don't have much time before everyone dies?

From what I understand, you can't actually go home from the point of no return: the only way out of there other than by ascending is to close your game, and I suspect that just leaving the room might actually be enough to let everyone else continue on to the dark room if there's no-one else left alive.

If a message is a bit too immersion-breaking for the game, maybe a sound or visual cue instead to warn the player that they don't have much time left? Something like the heartbeat sounds, or the sound of the storm getting louder/more violent

About the griefer situation I think of something like this, if everyone in the server with the griefer dies then the griefer will be automatically teleported to dark room once the griefer back online.

i'm not sure that'd even be necessary: if the griefer were to leave the room even momentarily, that'd probably be enough for everyone to move on (because in the time they're gone, there's no-one left in the room who's alive) -- the griefer coming back in would just respawn in the storm on their own

We should try that next eden run. Everyone but one person immediately dies at same time and see how long it takes for last player to die. In the tests I was in, only half the players died.

yeah, that's why i don't think it'd be a good idea to "have the griefer get moved to the dark room when they come back online" -- because if the game incorrectly identifies someone who disconnected as a griefer, then they'll be forced into the dark room against their will before they can finish their statues; as long as everyone who died was already able to move on when the last person alive disconnected, there'd be no need for a mechanic to move that rejoining person to the dark room if they're not dead yet

I have a teeny tiny doubt though Why does the starting of new season's dare I say are unplayable because of the bugs? Like surely some rigorous beta testing had been done right?

Testing gets done. The prairie 8 player elevator issue was fixed due to us testing a new eden feature. Beta testers can't test everything. We do our best and squash a good majority of bugs before hitting live. Sadly, a good chunk of beta slots get taken by people who think beta is early access and not for testing. Iirc, the numbers are about less than 5% who use up the invites stay the whole testing cycle to squash bugs.

That's so true! I knew I won't be able to bug hunt in beta since I don't have enough time for beta and live. I knew it would be a wasted beta slot. So I skipped it even though two waves were right in front of me. I hope the person who got it instead made good use of it 🙂

The tgc team is not a huge company. Iirc there are around 50 ppl. And they cant keep track of everything and fix everything too. This is a group work of tgc and community, we do our best. Any contribution would be highly appreciated

for example the unlivable spirit bug at the beginning of dreams was due to server merging at random times, and when beta servers have only 10k active players in comparison to the literal millions in live, its hard for beta to catch these kinds of server merging bugs

there's a "skip" button on the race cutscenes where the doors are opening now; skipping the cutscene will put camera control back on your sky kid, but it won't make the doors open any faster (you'll be able to actually light the candles in the flying race lobby while the doors are opening now though)

The mushrooms were unintentional assets left in the seasonal area and discovered there by hackers who accessed Ark before the season began. Word spread and everyone and their friend eventually joined in and created chains to harvest candles. I think it lasted all of a week tops.

Yes, back to the channel's purpose: The beta! Anyone notice any balance changes to the new system in recent updates? It has felt the same since we started and I am wondering what could be better for the system to be balanced. Personally it feels great... Up to chevron 0... I lose all motivation to CR to chevron 0 due to the slog 0 is.

hmm I'm kind of curious if to get a full cr you'd need to get all wax or wether it caps of early. So far I haven't been motivated to do a full cr in beta, but then I also don't do full cr in live due to work. Once I reach 1 chevron I'm kinda done, although in live I might just run until 0 chevrons

yea it would definitely demotivate people to do full cr (which tbf would help a lot with fatigue with the game), but if all the in-game cosmetics (TS and events) continue to be this expensive it'll be rough. Ideally it'll be a deal where you hit your max after running 4/5 ish realms. It'll still be challenging in terms of full cr people but also leave enough to forge for those not doing full crs. But the in-game economy will have to become a little easier to manage as well. Now doing full cr doesn't even give enough to buy all the event items and TS + trying to manage social relationships

I feel part of the burnout a lot of people have is due to trying to get the CR done as quickly as possible. Hopefully the first two chevrons will appease most people in their candle runs. With those two, it actually feels like you can take your time and play around, enjoy the scenery, play with friends, etc in the realms you're running that day.

Example: orbit and getting all the wax from spirits and skykids on chevron 3 was insane, and we got to play wing fiesta roulette: who gets the switch first.

i think the point is to discourage you from getting every single piece of wax in the game. afaik at some point there's gonna be enough that it'll stop counting altogether. they want players to just grab their favorite realms and for the cr to be fun not an obligation

Kai, I saw the friend button, pressed it, then nothing happened. Just saw it. It happened right before Cake accepted the piggyback request. Maybe ktjn could shed some light if that's working as intended: blue spirits not able to friend players in pnr.

On your side, you should see my character slightly go under the table placed. It was about 5 seconds before Cake exclaimed "I WARPED." Me going under the table was tapping the "new friend" hand/heart icon.

well I couldn't click on cake while they were a blue light to offer piggy Pakka was able to offer me a hand before (not on this trip obviously) as a blue light so I think already dead skids can click still living ones but not vice versa. I wasn't able to accept the hand so them being able to offer was probably a bug. I'll check my video around that timestamp then and see if I see anything unusual

I actually didn't get the crab dance spirit at all in beta. and only had it on live for about 30 minutes. I did get two wing buffs out of it on live though I owned both spirits already so it was easy to just get wing buffs and not panic

Any new realm candles in beta will most likely not hit live until the daily light system goes to live. That's a far ways off. The candles aren't even guaranteed to stay where they are at. We've been told they are placeholders until the art and graphics team can place them to match the areas they are temporarily at. (Like the ones in fire trial look way out of place.)

The thing is, if someone weren’t a griefer and didn’t go afk on purpose in stormlock, how to prepare them for this and not scare them in case they should trigger the kill switch by accidentally spending too much time in stormlock.

I’m afraid I can’t agree with you. I mean they are moths after all We’ve all been moths at some point. And moths should be allowed to take their time to take things in, to not understand things and get lost sometimes. Sky ain’t a game about getting something done as fast as possible, it’s about helping each other out and taking the time to appreciate the beautiful things. In Eden, when you get death loop, sure it’s annoying, and that’s why devs are trying to find ways to fix this, but it’s not a reason to not care about others’ experiences either.

I know but its not really about them only too also about others, there can be alot of old players stuck because of this and i never mentioned that they shouldnt take their time but they also should realise that other players are with them and should face consequences, maybe not even letting them together with other players? I think other moths who easily figure eden out would get even more confused about the loop than anybody else ive seen this they end up quitting the game thinking soemthings wrong.

and personally i think forcing everyone to automatically get killed is not a better option either as i said, maybe something to detect an old player ex: winged light counter? Or preferably a button showing up that you are taking long time that you would rather die? Or even both of them together as it would show to those who have maybe over og stars you can get in realms aside from buffs

Everyone has different gameplay styles. I’m not saying that what you are feeling are invalid. And I don’t think putting a timer on Eden or implementing a kill switch is a good idea either. All these factors and different styles of gameplay should be taken into account, including your perception about it. Just that you cannot just simply say that these moth players who could possibly need longer time in Eden to take things in should not be allowed to do this or that. After all, they are different from trollers who deliberately stay afk in Eden just to grief others.

I'm not sure how people are griefing by afk-ing, but we should not punish people who AFK. This game is played by children too! You all must understand the feeling of mom talking to you so you have to put your phone down, or call you into the other room, or you go on your own to grab something. Sometimes this kind of AFK-ing just happens, and while we have to think about everyone, we cannot put a death timer on those people. Let's not even start with the fact that everything needs to be moth friendly! I'm sorry, veterans, but you should be able to complete Eden and go, while our baby moths stay behind and figure it out. We don't need to put a penalty for actions that could be totally innocent. I don't agree with this kill switch being a good idea at all.

And directing veterans and moths to different servers is a dangerous path to go. It’s almost like creating social status differences in the game. When I was moth, almost each time I went to Eden, I got helped by stranger veterans, and this kindness just marked me to this day when I’ve become a veteran myself. That’s why sometimes I deliberately don’t glitch fly to pnr and take the normal path, just to help confused moth out, to pass along this kindness. That’s why I think mixing veterans and moths are important to this game.

i have no problem playing with moths anytime, especially in storm lock wher they need the most help. but once you're dead, you're literally not useful to anyone to randoms, and they are just blocking you from ascending

I don't think wing count is the way. I enter Eden sometimes with just 1 wing... or less or more and it's not always over 100... I don't want to get separated because of that.

I assume part of the motivation might be with that if this fix would come to live many players wouldn't read update notes either, so they just kept it on the down low to gauge how players would respond

they've been in beta. the only tier 2 capes we currently dont have are tier 2 white cape and tier 2 black cape. i dont remember if we have tier 2 pink cape yet

I understand TGC is trying to avoid backlash, but you gotta take full responsibility for the features you put, and display them accordingly just like all else.

Yes we got more tier 2 capes in beta. But some of them are still in dev and aren’t out even in beta yet (like the black or white tier 2 cape)

all capes have tier two. pink white and black have been removed from the spirits trees but still exist
