But the steam version didn't even get any updates since the 2020 release so, no, I don't think so.

It means that if the PC version of journey doesn't work on new versions of Windows, there's nobody with experience of that codebase to fix it. What will Annapurna do about that ? It could sell the game on to another company, or it could hire clever new programmers and give them time to figure out how the game works, or it could do nothing, and just let it stop working.

Likely so. The rights at currently belong to whoever owns/owned Annapurna, likely Megan Ellison. Even if Annapurna at some point wouldn't be able to maintain that, there's surely someone interested in getting the profits for any future sales, at the very least Sony as rights owner for Journey.
When Telltale games died, there was a bit of uncertainity and unavailability of the games, but they found a new distributer after a short while, too.

The ideal thing would be for either Sony or TGC to buy the game back from Annapurna. In 2019 when it was ported, TGC didn't want to do it because it had no experience with the PC. The first step in porting it would be to make PhyreEngine run under Windows – a complicated job requiring lots of expertise.

Now, of course, Sky runs on the PC. TGC has a ton of programmers who understand how that works. Adding another game which uses the same game engine would be well within what TGC can handle, and regaining control over your IP always makes you feel good.

So it depends on money. How much would Annapurna charge ? How much is TGC willing to pay ?

yeah uh, unfortunately annapurna interactive is just a publisher not related to tgc at all, they only published the ports of flower and journey and flow on ps4, pc and ios (flow is playstation only)

yes of course, but support for any of the tgc games has completely ceased as of summer 2021 and updates are no longer made since late 2020

currently journey functions ok in windows 7-11 and in wine/proton on linux. unfortunately flower does not work properly under the compatibility layer

It is very much worth it. If you've already played Sky first, you should be aware that it hits a lot of the same story beats as Sky does. Sky was very much modeled on Journey in that way. But Journey is a beautiful experience and art piece that is worth to play and experience.

Journey is special. It is one of the best, and most original, computer games ever. It gives you an experience and feelings different to any other game. If I ever again hear someone say "Computer games are not art." I will tell them to play Journey.

Flower ? It's a good computer game. Great fun if you can handle the relaxed pace. Nothing special.

Journey is available on Playstation, Steam and iOS. Same as Flower.
Flow is available on Playstation, and an early demo was available on browser for PC. Cloud is a student game that, afaik, is only available via the internet archive at the moment.

Whenever Sky releases on a new platform, TGC tends to release a cosmetic pack alongside it that references an iconic game.
On Playstation, Sky released a Journey pack with the traveler cape and mask. On Switch, Sky released a Nintendo pack with Link (Legend of Zelda) hair. On Steam, they released a pack with the companion cube from Portal.

The Journey pack was originally only available on Playstation. Only recently did they also release it for all platforms when Sky came to PC. But yes, once you buy the cosmetics, they're unlocked for your account on all platforms.

and journey on epic is not recommended due to connectivity issues because a helper backend server has went down without signs of coming back
also flower and flow are available on the playstation vita whereas journey is not

currently no technical support is provided for any of the games' versions unfortunately

And, before cloud there is Dyadin which is a pc game best played over the network cooperatively with two players. there are two revisions of it online and they should match to be able to correctly play together.
also by a group of university students that is very similar to cloud and thatgamecompany which cloud came first as a university project sponsored(?) by electronic arts (it was published for free on their servers) and lastly thatgamecompany company foundation was for the three game contract with sony where they give them exposure, support and budget but ultimately the developed intellectual property is sold to the publisher as part of the agreement

Collect all of the little glowing icons you see stored on the steps in the level nexus, near where the white cloak will appear. One of them is particularly difficult and you may need to practise the jump a few times before you make it. Fortunately, it's near the beginning of one level.

You don't need to collect all those icons in one playthrough. But you do need to finish the entire level (not the entire game) for the new icon to be registered.

Once you have finished the game, you can go directly to any level without having to play all the levels before it. There is a platform in the middle and lots of buildings around it. You go to a specific building to start a specific level. This is the nexus.

On one side of the nexus you will see steps. On the steps you see the icons you have collected so far. Each step is one level of the game, so you can see which levels you have all the icons for, and which levels have a missing icon.

uh, performance depends on how new your device is, unfortunately it has more chances to experience companion glitches than all the other platforms combined and it comes with some unpolished features such as the game saving on every symbol

touch controls are very limited compared to controller

well, if its about ~3 generations newer in terms of chip hardware, it'll likely perform not too badly. oh and dont forget to switch the fps to 60 in settings -> journey
also visit the journey wiki pages about iOS descriptions about its issues and features, note the site may have spoilers, so you've been warned.
i suggest staying on pc/steam unless you really want to play on the go and do plan to have a battery bank to aid you in long play sessions and preferably have a controller to avoid that kinda cramp from holding hands too long on touch screen position
steam and ps4 have the most people tho the latter isnt as reliable as ps3/steam, ios is unfortunately as deserted as ps3

You can proceed through the two games and see how Sky started off as "Let's make a multiplayer Journey.". Levels in Journey are Realms in Sky, war machines turned into krill, etc.. Both games are metaphors for the Ages of Man: you start off as babies and end as old people.

Well, I've never had PS Plus. I bought Journey when I had a PS3 and I played it and met other travellers. Eventually I upgraded to a PS5, played it again (no need to buy it again !) and again I met other travellers. So it might say that but it was definitely wrong for me.

you dont want to run it on intel graphics cuz that runs sort of capped to like 20-15 fps.

Journey is not the type of game to constantly get updates. It may have some thematic and gameplay similarities to Sky, but it's not the same. Journey is a much more compact and minimalistic, but very effective experience.
I recommend getting it anyway, because it's a beautiful and memorable game. But like, it never had in-game events.

You're right. You don't need to collect them all in the same playthrough. But after collecting a new symbol you must play to the end of the level – the part where the elders show you how to get to the next level.

@next aurora In the level hub (the place where you have steps around the edge leading directly to each level) you will find some steps with those symbols on. Each step is a different level. So you can see which levels have symbols you haven't found yet.

So I've been playing Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. It has incidental music, with different pieces of music triggered by different places, and different kinds of events. The problem is not the channel name. It's the position in the channel list. When someone joins a new server on a mobile device the end up on the last channel in the list by default. So if they post without looking at the channel list, they end up in this channel. The problem can be fixed by banning posts to this channel from new users, or from users who haven't manually picked a role, or something like that.

You're not seeing the problem. Many posts which are incorrectly here are not about computer games at all. They are the first posts new members post to the server. The people who make those posts aren't looking at the channel namel. You could rename the channel 'do-not-post-here' and they'd still post here.

That's because they joined a new server and posted immediately without looking at the channel name. And the reason their posts ends up in this channel is that this channel is the last one in the list, which means that the mobile client defaults to it as they join the new server. It's not a result of a custom invitation or anything else specially aimed at this channel.

To fix the problem, the admins have to put the #introductions channel at the end of the list. or to ban posts to this channel by people who've just joined the server.

It's pretty obvious that TGC asked itself "How do we make a multi-player game from Journey ?". It's basically the same story, with basically the same realms representing the Ages of Man, and basically the same peaceful feeling. I wouldn't be surprised if it started with the sourcecode of Journey and worked from there.

Looking at the Sky artbook, the original inspiration was actually much more Cloud, TGC's original student project. It just developed into a similar story beat as Journey because it works.

Also, I wouldn't assume they recycled a lot of the coding. There is a lot of parts that go into making a game like Sky work.
Plus, Journey was originally developed for PS3. Sky was developed as a mobile game first and foremost. Journey for iOS was ported by a different company.
TGC never programmed any touch screen controls for Journey. Multiplayer works much differently in Journey than Sky. Movement runs on different rules too. For Sky, they developed a new technology to make these giant landscape pieces work in the engine on limited performance hardware as phones. Levels would need to be build and scriped from the groun up anyway.

if you think about it, a sky kid's journey is sysiphean in nature, while the wayfarers just get a very long traveling queue... into becoming the first symbol maybe lmao

I sorta figured the plot of Journey was each dead white cloak from the past being reborn and getting shown why things are the way they are now. Then they ascend and someone new gets brought down to reflect on things

it'd explain why your symbol is different each playthrough

Sky Kids are lucky compared to the Travelers, though. Their world's been wrecked, but they're making a comeback and are rebuilt to the point where they get to have little communities and festivals around the lands, plus they keep the friends they make

Travelers get nothing but the way forward and a nameless companion they'll never see again. They end up sitting back at the start, staring up at the peak like

"I JUST got done walking there. Thanks."

They also don't have arms/hands lol

Those are real people playing at the same time as you on the same kind of device (PS3, PS4/5, PC, or iOS).
The only updates have been bug fixes on Journey.
It's always had multiplayer, but it's a bit rare to find people.

I went "home", as pressing start instead of continue and it worked at first, but then when I sit by a portal it closes on me, so I can't play

A bit late but you can either turn on V-Sync in the settings to limit the fps to your monitor's refresh rate or, depending on your GPU, use NVidia Control Panel/AMD Adrenaline to limit the game's fps (Google has plenty of tutorials on how to do it). In theory you could also crank up the graphics settings to lower performance/fps but not exactly an optimal solution

Has anyone else run into the bug with Journey where they're wearing the white cape and the game repeatedly crashes in the same spot in the underground tunnels? I'm on Steam, and I've tried this several times even after reinstallation and file integrity checks. Right in the hallway. I played through this twice without issue until now. No graphics changes or anything.

Can confirm it has to do with the creature despawning. I stood entirely still this time.

Edit: Tried one more time and stood completely still but directly in front of it instead of slightly to the left. Counted to 10 and then moved after it left, no issue. ;-;

Waiting 10 seconds after the animation before moving at all. Guessing the cutscene needs to finish before you continue forward. Running backwards might work too but I was getting my last achievement

yeah, i figured its probably something very awkward, do yourself a favor and enjoy the game without strange restrictions like those, you might crash because of a companion doing things without control
