Keyser raises an interesting point, though. Admittedly, if there's no multi-player increase to mob numbers or difficulty it's irrelevant, but it makes sense to have more loot for more people. There is precedent - Elder drops Swamp Keys dependent on players on the server, Bonemass drops Wishbones in the same manner...

I just recently picked up civ 6 for a couple bucks as I've never played any of the civ games before and I've gotta say, I'm quite underwhelmed. People have hyped it up a lot and it just falls behind every other 4x game in so many ways

i haven't really liked civ since maybe 4 tbh. imo mostly what changed in 5/6 was some stuff got more cartoony, and they went off the deep end with the dlc crap. i prefer age of wonders (haven't got 4, but 3 was good), it's not perfect but has some interesting elements.

The literal answer is "the way the game intended" but I know that comes across as pretentious.

Like for swamp, I have a portal and I clear the entire swamp before moving any iron. Portal is how I get out everything that isn't iron.
Then I go get my Eikthyr buff and just spend a day sprinting 400 kg of iron at a time back and forth to the boat and sail it all back in 1 trip.

Silver mining is a matter of portalling out all the stone, and then yeeting the silver down the side of the mountain and then sprinting it from there to the boat 🤷‍♂️

after trying a few providers, Shockbyte ended up being the best for me, currently running 65 mods on their base server package with no issues, initially the load times were quite slow (and by other games standards still are) but they made the effort to move me to a different node to help (and it did), they also have a bunch of promo codes you can find online to make the first month very cheap.

I made sort of a mistake of buying an obscenely powerful GPU without considering the CPU i had at the time.

It was fun watching just the amount of bottlenecking i had there. lol

It's always been cyclical. Intel is better for some of the stuff I do, so it's always a compromise for me whenever AMD are the better option for gaming.

That's kinda what I do. Moores Law is still mostly in effect, so just use what you have until you can't anymore, then spend about the same as you did before to get a huge increase in performance. If you can combine that approach with slightly increasing your spend each time, you end up having a really decent setup that will last like 5-10 years before your have to replace it.

How do people arrange their storage?

The basic chests I find are the best for putting on racks and shelves. Because they’re basically 1x1x2. But they’re so inefficient.

both blackmetal and iron will fit in a 1m high space. i usually do something like place two 1x1 walls on top of each other, with space on either (lengthwise) side, the put a row of boxes set against that (centered) down, then snap a row of 1x1 floors at the top of those, then place second row of boxes on that, repeat for third row.
...if that makes sense.

if you snap the next-high floors to the wall/floor pieces theyll fit in 1m

it's a little finicky but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad. I'm on my phone right now, donno that i have a screenshot on hand, but. i usually have 4m storeys and stack 3 high (this allows next storey to use stone floors also). but if you're using wood floor for the next storey you can stack them 4 high if you really wanted.

That reminds me - I meant to report back that I had put a couple of BM chests in the space I had a couple of Reinforceds. Not tried the 1m stacking yet, but I see that it does indeed work. And gives SO MUCH more storage per 2x2x1 space. And I now have another side quest - gathering up enough black metal to replace our entire storage system!
