when you trigger effects that consume dots and deal their damages instantly will that instant damage leech still be counted from damage over time leeched as health, and will it be treated as 1 big damage instance or multiple damage instances if you had for example 50bleed stacks you consume
On mobile at the moment so I can't check but it will still count as a DoT and not a hit. It is a single damage instance and not several small ones. DoT leech should still apply as normal.

I'm going to try and ask this with the least amount of rage I can muster :P.
Are the devs aware of how insanely frustrating and fun destroying the outsized negative repercussions of failed 2/3LP slams are to the overall game experience?
By the time you attempt a 2/3LP slam, you potentially have 10-50+ hours invested in the main drop and the numerous attempts at building your slam material. Numerous layers of RNG have already been navigated at this point just to get to the attempt.
- Then you make your triumphant trek to the Temporal Sanctum.
- Defeat the boss.
- Ascend the stairs to the Forge for what should be the culimination of all that time and effort you spent just to get the 2 items you need.
This should be a dramatic moment of triumph and excitement.
But instead, it usually a moment of trepidation, fear, hopelessness, misery, and expecting the worst.
In a single instant........... GONE. Trashed. Destroyed.
It is truly no different than if you earned the XP for your next level, and instead of a DING! level up, you got reset back to 0 XP. In fact, this is far worse because it represents a LOT more time and effort, and is nowhere near as easily reproduceable as grinding XP.
I understand RNG is part of ARPGs. I get it. But the negative outcomes of RNG need to be commensurate with the time and effort involved, and how hard it is to make another similar attempt.
A small negative outcome from RNG is fine.
But a MASSIVELY negative outcome from RNG that just DESTROYS incredible amounts of time and effort and puts you back to Square 0 is back breaking.
It sucks all the fun out of the game.
It makes it feel like "Why am I even playing? Literally everything I did for days/weeks was for truly NOTHING"
A more important part of ARPGs is progression and upgrades. This goes against that.
A few possibilities? Honestly... anything because right now its miserable.

Change one of the less used runes to wipe the unique so you can make a new slam attempt.

Have some kind of extra material, a rare drop, etc that lets you pick a 2nd affix (and perhaps multiple of them to pick 3 affixes).
Deterministic crafting > RNG crafting every single day of the week - especially when the stakes are this high.
And again.... this IS a question, not just a suggestion. I know there are places for that.

As you can see a little further down from that linked comment, it's not their focus right now, but they are open to great solutions posted in #1210282176680169562. Looks like they have a hard time finding one that is simple enough.

I understand solving things elegantly is hard, and there are always a million other demands on dev time.
I get it. I've been making games professionally myself for 35 years (I invented F2P, don't hold that against me plz! abusive variations aren't my fault)!
Speaking of which: the more predatory leaning F2P games out there would solve this with a cash shop solution and they'd make a fortune, because its such a clear and brutal pain point. But I'd obviously prefer a game mechanic solution. 😛

Not specifically no. The woven echo which has a bunch of them is kinda like this in a way though. If you'd like us to consider adding one, put it in #1210282176680169562 for consideration.
A finger on the monkey's paw curls inward. All legendary affixes are now selectable but all drops have been reduced by 75%.
Sounds great. It would eliminate one of the many miserable scenarios the current situation creates.
- 2 LP unique obtained (through whatever of the various methods)
- Now to build the slam fodder. There are many times I'm able to craft one that has 3 great affixes, but the 4th is dubious. Since I know the damn forge will choose that one EVERY DAMN TIME on my 2LP slams, I risk a rune of removal on my 3 out of 4 nice item. Obviously that's a 75% chance to ruin the item (though it feels even worse than that).
So as bad as it is how often 2/3LP slams fail, there are countless attempts I never even get to make b/c I ruin potential fodder candidates due to the fact I can't trust the forge to pick the affixes I want at an acceptable ratio.
I hope that makes sense.
Basically: the ripple effect of how brutally heart breaking it is when you get a crap affix on a 2/3LP slam impacts all sorts of other decisions, making other aspects of the game worse as well.
And that's the core of my issue with this part of the otherwise incredible crafting/gear system in general: RNG in games is fine in many cases, but its very bad when the result is catastrophic, very significant, unrecoverable, and can easily make you feel like everything you do in the game is pointless.
Once again, I understand that you have a zillion other things on your plate, and this is a level of min/maxing that probably only concerns a smaller % of the game. I'm fully aware that I'm a degenerate powergamer and min/maxer.
Also, as a game dev myself who also teaches game design as a college professor, I cannot help but absolutely obsess over game mechanics. 😛
But I do believe the emotional impact is the same for everyone, they just don't necessarily know how to describe or frame it.

le will not go better without players like you. But I think which mtx they should release to inspire players spending their money is more important under eyes of Krafton.
On top of my head, I think maybe either sacrifice 2 other 2 LP (or 2 other trash affixes legendaries) if you want to slam 2 specific affixes onto the unique can be a solution.

It's reasonable to exchange a high lep item by 100h, but it's unfair to crash that by a single failed slam

Hey Snarlax - i was thinking about the exact same thing the last cpl of days, while putting many hours into the game trying to farm up for double T7 exalted slam bases as well as 2-3 LP build-defining uniques - the outcome of attempted slams after all that effort is really disappointing and frustrating most of the times
now, that more and more data is available and people are trying harder than ever to craft crazy gear, improvements will have to be made regarding slamming items, the current implementation of the eternal cache in the temporal sanctum sets players up for a lot of frustration and doesnt seem to be appropriate for the current and future state of the game
maybe tokens could be added, that drop from future pinnacle bosses that allow to guarantee two selected stats at least, this would also add even more motivation to continue grinding to flesh out a character and keep players in the game
the crafting system in Last Epoch is top tier as it gives players a lot of room for customization - but there is so much more potential with slight improvements to things such as the eternal cache
Well said and basically my same ultimate conclusion.
The LE crafting system is the best in ARPG land and its not even close. It's really creative, fun, some tough setbacks now and then, but most of the way its fine.
I enjoy farming my double T7s, imprinting good ones in my weaver web, getting more to drop, building an inventory, slowly tweaking them, when the glyph of hope procs and I make a free improvement, then I re-imprint, etc.
Then the process of making it perfect for slamming is strategic, and failures are not the end of the world since farming up more fodder isn't that bad. Thanks to the weavers web, what I need will drop if I just grind.
But after all of that lengthy process - which had small setbacks here and there, no biggie - but I always felt like I was moving forward..... Once ALL of that is done, it even FEELS good lore-wise in-world. You go on a little adventure to the Temporal Sanctum to fight a boss and gain access to the mystic forge... to finally realize the fruits of your labor......... and you're almost guaranteed crushing disappointment.
It's Lucy ripping away the football at the last moment, and destroying everything. It is about as heartbreaking as possible.

edit: one thing to add - it is not about free handouts, there will have to be setbacks here and there, just as you said it - just not gigantic, soul crushing disappointments after all that effort went into all of these steps

Yeah fully agree. I know powercreep has climbed sky high compared to the old days but imo the current crafting system is way, way better. I think the player should be rewarded for incrementally optimizing their uniques and exalted slam fodder. You shouldn't be punished like this for playing the endgame to such great extents. Dedicated players should be rewarded

this convo really feels like the saying "give them a hand and they will take an arm", giving guaranteed pick for slams was a mistake.
With the combination of havoc, redemption and imprints getting good double T7's has been made much easier, honestly it's not much to ask for people to slam 2LP ten or so times until they get the good one.
And I have hard time understanding this failed slam talk. You either have 2LP that is easy enough to farm that you can do multiple slams or you have rare 2LP where you shouldn't slam item to it that can "brick" it, or at least understand you are gambling at that point.
If I had 2LP red ring I would be happy with 7/5 slam, 7/7 should be long endgame process not something you can do in few hours after getting the drop for rare high LP items.
Making the LP even more deterministic just kills most of the chase the endgame gear progression has

I'm a big fan of the game and its cosmetic designs. I unfortunately missed the Twitch Drop event during the 1.0 launch for the "Mantle of the Prophesier" back item.
I was wondering if there are any plans to make this cosmetic available again in the future, through another event or perhaps the in-game shop?

We probably figured that because they don't take up space, they don't need filtering out. With the addition of sounds and beams is does start to make sense to add them.

This would work for commonly found LP unique but commonly found LP uniques don't hurt nearly as much as if you brick a unique that you're not likely to find multiple of in a season.
This is how I feel too. I think people are getting a bit carried away by the massive power creep we've had recently. I think the 1 guaranteed slam was a good change however I think any more changed to make getting 2, 3 or 4 guaranteed slams would overall hurt the game without some big overhaul of the drop rates of things which would probably bring us to a point where we would never even see there 2, 3 or 4 LP items drop.
hello. I have the node where explosive trap is shot by an arrow. I use flurry as my main skill, and trap sprinkler to spread more traps and acid flasks. is there an ailment icon or something to indicate that a given enemy has a trap attached to them? it does not seem like it is working as intended
I don't believe there is an icon for trap attachment. If you suspect it might not be working as intended. Open up a bug report for investigation. [F8] in game.

Can imprints drop from favor caches?
Is there anything that affects the imprint drop so they drop more frequently? For example, killing bosses in the monolith itself.
Yes, Sealed Riches can proc from Favor Caches. As far as more frequently, each Imprint has a different proc, which is listed in each of their descriptions:
- Echoing Riches - extra drop chances from echo rewards, the orange glowing thing back on the little island. Completing echoes faster and at the highest Corruption you can reasonably handle will help give you more procs.
- Sealed Riches - extra drop chances when you open a cache. Opening more caches would give you more procs and Favor Caches can help.
- Commoner's Riches - extra drop chances from just defeating enemies. Defeating more enemies as quickly as possible would help give more procs.
- Warlord's Riches - bit different, extra drop chances for a similar item with a Sealed affix like what's imprinted when you defeat Champions. Defeating more Champions for more procs and there's a lot of Weaver nodes for extra Champions.
that is half true for echo rewards, as some have a static value, but most scale with monsters killed

Do Sealed Riches benefit from Exalted Finds? Because I've seen that it benefits Favor Caches, and before using Exalted Finds, no Imprints ever came out of Favor Caches. A player told me that it did, so... if this is true... Exalted Finds should affect Sealed Riches.

There are different skins for chests. I noticed that purple chests give me fewer Imprints and fewer items. I mentioned this to a friend, but they didn't believe me. Can anyone confirm this?

I've spent many hours and weeks researching information about these questions, doing countless tests (I'm a player with over 1300 hours of LE play). I tried datamining, but it's almost impossible to find the lines of code where they are.
The developers did a great job of programming, it's impressive.

It is ear piercingly high pitched and staticky which no joke, hurts my ears. I had to switch to a different c skill due to the changes made to it this season.

Sealed Riches and Exalted Find have no effect on each other. They both trigger off of the same thing so finding more Lost Caches will cause both to trigger more often but they are independent.

The server doesn't know what visuals spawn. As far as the game deciding what quantity of items come out, they are all the same.

If the base scene is from the ruined era or end of time, those both have void themed chests associated with them but again, this has no effect on the items.

I don't know how you did it but I assume it is by setting a specific era in your base scene as that's how it picks it. And again, it has no effect so it doesn't matter.
As A COF main I was wondering would it be possible to get some prophecies inside Tombs and Cemeteries? I would also like lens's that allow for say 100% chance to not get prophecies that are not Tombs/Cemeteries.

It's more about steam and less about your internet I think. In multiple cases I've updated at the same time as other people in the same network and noticed wildly different download speeds
if stuff like uber are released at the time on both offline and online like the last time its not gonna change anything, offline will kill the boss 2mins in. Not letting us predownload doesnt prevent that
The reason Uber was released at the same time is because it's not an actual new Pinnacle boss. It's just normal Abby with more stats and a few tweaks. Future (unique) Pinnacle content will be delayed afaik
good to hear, all Im trying to say is there is no way to make full offline vs online fair anyways but what you can at least try to do is making it a fair playing field for online vs online.

Short answer : there are no plans to have a camping skip
in more detailed answer: we have campain skip on alts with dungs + key to skip to boss. You can ignore campain in act 3 so it's like 30min run on alt. If you struggle on alt- level on your main some weaver class relics and use torch sceptre. Prepare torch with nemesis
I'm trying to do some theory crafting in a more expedient way via creating offline save files via a tool I made. No mods or anything, just writing json. Is this considered against ToS for an offline character? Similarly, if I were to open source the tool in the future would that be a problem? Thanks in advance!

Hoping to get some insight, for a skill like Flurry, if I convert this into a channeled ability does any of the following apply; Ethereal Arrows: Bow cost -> More Bow Damage, Drelkor's -4 mana cost for bow skills, Mana Warp: Bow attack mana cost %increase
A couple questions regarding Necromancer.
I know that Intelligence influences Minion Damage + HP + Crit Chance, but do we know exact values to gauge whether +a Intelligence or +b% increased Minion Damage is better?
Locus of Resurrection says "Wraiths appear at target location, but Summon Wraith costs more mana".
Assuming "appear at target location" means "where your cursor is", it already does that without this node, so why is it presented as the upside to the increased mana cost's downside? And assuming I'm correct, is the node intended to be strictly a downside?
Isn't Dread Shade something you only cast once and it stays on permanently / until minion death?
If so, I'm confused what's the point of Wisdom of the Dead (Dread Shade costs less mana and has increased Cast Speed)

No, mana cost is not the same as channel cost. It is possible than an ability could have both but I don't think we have any that do at the moment. Channelling costs are not affected by and do not scale as a mana cost.

yes, each skill will tell you if you hold alt on the tooltip. Skeleton for example gives +8 hp and 4% inc damage per int.

A question about healing hands. i tried looking if this has been asked before but couldnt find anything. is there a reason behind throwing attacks being left out of being able to proc HH? again sorry if this has been asked before.
can someone confirm that the passive "Corrupted Form" on the Lich passive tree is broken and doesnt actually grant the low life bonus as described?
anecdotally it felt like it was working based on the boost I got when I enabled it, but I didn't try to math it. Mike would say that if you think it might be broken you should report with F8 even if you're not sure.

I'd be interested in a Warrior class but I'm not sure how you would differentiate it from Sentinel other than no magic.
They've used the word season for new content introductions. It's now expansion, which with krafton is pretty reasonable to imply a paid expansion.
Poe also used to call their major leagues expansions. So while you may very well be right, nothing is definitive yet, and you won't get information about something that's not announced in here.
It not just a Krafton thing. Diablo does the same thing. I'd rather pay for an expansion chock full of player first EHG ideas rather than pricey MTX that pays for expansions.

Probably. After that frame, it shows squirrels and then flame whips, both skills enabled by items (herald of the scurry and spine of Malatros, respectively).

Well, I'd say it seems like absolutely terrible strategy to announce this "expansion" this way if it is going to not be paid. Provide absolutely no details, change the language for how updates are described, all while people are wary about what changes Krafton will bring along.
I think it's pretty reasonable for people to assume that if they knew it was going to be free, they would say so. Not doing so only damages EHG, and Krafton by extension.
I get that EHG wants to keep details limited, but not even clarifying what "expansion" means or if this is paid content for PC players or not feels lame. Especially after the Krafton purchase*. If it's free, not saying anything feels like an own-goal. If it's paid, I can see why but that's gonna be contentious for existing supporters.
What's the difference between a new season with new content and a new expansion with new content? Why dont they just use the term new season? Seems like new season is free with base game and expansion costs money, this is the only reasonable explanation for using this terminology.
They could be using it in the way GGG does - they call the leagues with broader atlas updates/bigger changes "expansions". Hence seeking clarification and expressing annoyance at the lack of definition.

LE always was 1 time pay play forever game, it was also in your kickstarter and you were saying it all the time. I know you have new bosses but if you can not answer the simple question is it paid or not, it means answer is clear.

The Kickstarter was a plan which has been very heavily deviated from in many ways. I think the game would be dramatically worse if we stuck to it rigidly. The question seems simple and if this was almost ready to go and coming soon, it would be unreasonable to not answer. This is a very early announcement. We are open to feedback and suggestions to shape what happens still. Please do not read into it too much. I know, way too late for that.

I think people make assumptions for a few reasons. Some are because they have been burned before and it's emotionally safer to default to expecting the worst. There are other reasons to but regardless, it essentially boils down to not having all the information and wanting it so you fill in the blanks with a best guess. I think it is very common for a game to announce that it is being worked on well before pricing is finalized. I understand that it's a little different because LE is released already so the specifics of LE:O being obscured is frustrating.
All I can say right now is that we haven't decided and are open to feedback on the topic.

We have changed pricing models before. Sometimes a business model needs to adapt to continue to work. When we adapted last time (like 5-6 years ago or something) it was probably what saved the studio.
Edit: To be clear, this is not meant to imply that we are going to change anything or not. I'm just trying to illustrate that rigidly sticking to what our previous plans have been isn't always the best course of action for anyone. We try really hard to phrase our plans as plans instead of commandments set in stone. I was trying to illustrate that in the past we have changed pricing structures and it ended up being for the better. This doesn't mean that we are changing anything now. Just that we want to make sure we get this decision right before committing to anything.
I didnt read the follow-up to what I'm quoting, as I found it on another LE discord, but considering EHG confirmed last year that there wouldnt be paid expansions for LE, that would be a very bad look for LE and a huge drop in the playerbase + confidence in the future of LE.

Yea, I can't stop anyone from making assumptions and jumping to the worst case scenario conclusions. That's why I've just been asking nicely. I don't think that sticking perfectly to everything we've said about the game would have us in a better spot. If we did, we would probably have crumbled long ago. Game development is a lesson in adapt or die.
What you can trust is that each of us will work our asses off to make the best game we can for the sake of the game itself. This game is like another child to me and many others on the team.

Our work on controller support isn't really directly linked to ps5 development. That's just part of the game. I don't have any information on Season 4 content that I can share.

If the expansion is paid I at least hope there will be a far bigger focus on getting the game in a more polished state before that comes. I think that will be what stops a lot of people from buying an expansion right now- the existence of so many bugs.

Hello Mike, I don’t really have a question. I just wanted to reach out with some kind words to let you know that there are still people who care and thank you for being the face of LE, dealing with an irate player base, maintaining professionalism, all while not being able to say too much.
I’ve been here since Beta, and when I saw how EHG navigated going from single player to multiplayer, dealing with drops/trading and developing the solution with Factions, I knew this was the game for me and I still have faith.
I guess I do have a question though: is there anything we could do to help brighten your day?

This reminds me of the massive blunder ggg once made. They put a huge counter on their website, at the end of it they released 1 minute teaser video on YouTube. Suffice to say, don't announce stuff if you have nothing to announce
The primary announcement here is that we are going to be releasing Last Epoch on PS5. That's not super interesting to most current players because they already have a way to play. It's a very big announcement for people who have been waiting for it though.
This is really amazing to have this game on PS5, since the early i watched a lot of stream and omg the necromancer seems so good and fun with so many pets ^^. Really liking the art and spells custom.
Honestly, it could be better communicated. The video doesnt have any teaser for the expansion at all yet it has the orobyss expansion in the title. It was purely to advertise the PS5 release.
Furthermore, you dont see the reason of the annoucement until the very bottom of the PS5 blog (mentioning people can wishlist LE: O on the Playstation Playstore, again nothing solid or teaser about the expansion is revealed). The LE forum and Youtube video are very misleading on first sight

To that i will honestly provide feedback: loyal players who have been with you before krafton and that have supported via MTX will be disappointed in front of a mandatory paid expansion because they were loyal and believed in EHG when it was a small studio. I’d rather give the option of more MTX and let players decide if they want to support the expansion. If it is well done and have enough novel content i’m sure it will be a success (remember s2 in steam selling charts)
Agree. I hope "expansion" there will carry the same meaning as it does in PoE 1 where they've been adding brand new content with pinnacle bosses and reshaped endgame every several seasons. Otherwise it would be the beginning of the end of good ol' Last Epoch 
to say that a game releasing a paid expansion is "the beginning of the end" is absolutely wild work. These are 🐐 devs, it doesnt matter how much funding or who acquires who, its not going to change the fact that this team of devs has CONSISTENTLY FOR YEARS put out amazing content, listened to players, and put experience over profits. If you think they don't deserve money for an expansion that will probably be 10/10 content then you're in the wrong place.

It's mind boggling to announce an expansion alongside a new platform and then say that you can't share anything or just don't know anything to share.

When you take 'drifting singularity' and 'supermassive' nodes on the black hole tree which cause black hole to move towards enemies and prioritise rares/bosses how is this prioritise done behind the scenes?
Does it take into account its remaining duration to dynamically adjust the range where it picks target so that it wont go after rare/boss if it wouldn't made it there before ending if there is closer normal enemy near?
And is the prioritise treated similarly to threat generation where it tricks black hole into thinking rare/boss is closer than it seems?
It does not try to calculate the time to target as to not lock on to a pointless target. It is very basic and fairly similar to threat. It looks for the closest enemy to go to and goes that way. Bosses just get a multiplier for their range which makes them look a little closer.
I haven't been involved with much of those things lately. Because we use NavMesh, pathfinding is rarely something we have to deal directly with too much. There is a really cool video on how PoE does their random level generation from like 5? years ago that was great.

Hey would it be possible on erased and woven unique items to slot in an affix shard or pre and suffix for x cost and chance of bricking( Take Cinder Strike(rogue) is fire, melee, and a skill, prefix shards that previously mentioned affix's ) or breaking breaking the item.,, 30-50% chance yes you will also lose the Cinder Strike shards you used and weaver runes?
How is skill balance determined? Some skills across different classes have multiple stacking more/multiplicative modifiers in the tree which leads to them being able to have a compound effect with other more modifiers. This is why only a few skills can efficiently climb high corruption and do uber abberoth. Will there be a balance pass to increase the viability of skills by adjusting/adding more modifiers at some point? The game feels in dire need of a really deep balance pass for a ton of unused skills.
I don't really understand the question. Most things are technically possible. If you'd like us to consider it, try rewording it in the #1210282176680169562 channel. That's where we look for suggestions from.
Given the significant volume of skills and nodes, the difference between some of these skills being useless and completely broken OP can be very thin.
We apply a huge number of balance changes to skills every season. Sometimes skills get punted to the next seasion because they are slated for major changes too. If there are specific changes you'd like to see, drop it in #1210282176680169562 for consideration.
Is Eterra Monthly still a planned/intended thing? Did Orobyss eat the August edition? 
Take any unique with weaver will with no affix assigned and there the option to choose one affix or one prefix and suffix. The upgrade will cost maybe x shards of what you want and weaver runes. Personally I would say no more than 50% chance of success getting the one/two affix you want, since weaver will items are about chance?
When a major patch lands near the a monthly post, we skip that one. I expect it to return.

Maybe, way too early to tell. If there is something you would like to see in it, please put that in #1210282176680169562. That sort of thing would go well in Season 4 instead too though so you could request it for that which would get here far sooner.

Well back when LE wasn't officially released, one of the devs wrote me that something like challenges was in the works. Now, LE has had its official launch and so far nothing, last season I played a little bit of LE (lvl 93 snaman on HC and some lvl 100 characters has SC), but just the lack of just challenges is something I miss to make LE my "primary game", yknow..
Ideas has challenges, non something along the lines of "kill this and this", "kill these and those bosses", "craft xy on item", "reach level this and this" etc etc, just look a bit at poe1 challenges or D4 season journey, something along the lines of, complete xy and some reward (title, transmog etc..).. Personally, I think LE is an absolutely great game, lootfilter in the game, ssf mode on done absolutely amazing.. But my driving engine is the season challenges and if the game doesn't have that... I try to keep an eye out for any news about LE and always hope for just the introduction of seasonal challenges but so far I'm always disappointed unfortunately. Which is a shame...
I did a cursory search on this and got nothing, but can a dev PLEASE talk about the Summon Wolf issue and whether it's at least been acknowledged? I check every hotfix with bated breath but never see anything about it.
Consoles community have large community made around challenges and achievemnts so i think it's possible it will come with expansion.

In terms of defensive strategies, is dodge intended to be a primary defensive strategy in the same vein as ward or health, or is it more intended to be supplemental layer like armor mitigation, endurance threshold, ward decay threshold, etc.?
Supplemental layer. It's arguably even less primary than the ones you listed as they always apply and are reliable for HC.
Gotcha, makes sense. I asked because I'm currently struggling to make a dodge-as-primary-defense build work despite there being a lot of cool itemization support for it, and I've been leaving small suggestions here and there to try and improve that. However, it occurred to me that what I'm trying to do might not even be an intended use case, so maybe the points are moot
I think it is a mechanic that you should be able to build your defenses around but it and any other option are not intended to be your only defensive layer. You still need to use it with some combination of health, endurance, ward, armor, glancing blow, crit avoid/reduction, block, resists and DR.
That makes sense. Unfortunately the current problem with dodge that I'm running into is that it requires massive investment to be usable, to the point that you have to forego nearly all other defensive investment because it all shares the same affix slots. So you're essentially forced into it as your only defensive layer if you want to try and make the most out of it. I left some suggestions for BD specifically in #1210282176680169562 that could improve it maybe, but they're just small tweaks here and there.
I think the most apt comparison is armor mitigation. Since each piece of equipment (tends to) have implicit armor, you get a good baseline by default. Then, when you stack strength for strength-focused builds you naturally boost that armor mitigation since the % increase from strength can build off of your foundation from your armor. There is no equivalent for dodge. Dexterity gives you a miniscule amount of flat dodge rating, and the sources of % increased dodge rating are few and far between.
tl;dr - Dex stacking doesn't yield dodge rating at anywhere near the same effectiveness as strength stacking does for armor rating.
Will it be a paid expansion or not? That's what everyone wants to know at the moment.

Just chiming in as I have been messing with how to balance a tanky and high DPS marksman rogue. I have swapped out several iterations of defenses within the idol tree, and use reliquary nest to boost their abilities by 59%, thus attempting to concentrate all my offense on my gear. Getting those stats high enough has been a challenge. The best luck I’ve had so far is to put lots of ward idols in, wear the jungle queen belt, and drink potions to amp ward during high intensity moments. Far and away the best defense I’ve gotten. I’m currently working on getting armor to 85% and endurance threshold has high as I can by adding it and health.
Fair warning I use Merchsnts Guild so I don’t farm for these things so swap testing has been easy for me
I also use any nodes in my
Skills that give or buff dusk shroud, silver shroud, glancing blow, so on.

Oh yeah, I know how to build rogue defensively under normal circumstances. I've got quite a few of them that I've been playing since beta. In this instance I was specifically trying to build around dodge as a primary defense, which just doesn't work very well at the moment

I'm saying that I try really hard to not comment on or give updates to any potential bugs here because it would be all I did if it became the norm. We investigate all reported bugs. You may have noticed that we have made a few changes to that node since it was released to try and make it play better but each way we have set it up so far has caused issues with some combination of nodes and/or items.

Yes, the only thing of any substance to say is concerns over the language and possible pricing. I kind of get the impression that EHG wasn't trying to imply anything on that front, and was just trying to say, "We have a big update coming!" But we'll know eventually

It was a while ago though , and I had build ideas for the amulet that now have been put on hold because of the various problems.
I got and question. Any chance of making idol enchanting so it does not keep rolling same enchant 4-5 times in row ?? usually takes me 20 hours to get 1 idol encahnted. When i died at 100 hardcore cause of stash freeze bug only thing was sad about was idols.
I know there was mention of no thoughts yet toward supporting multiple primordial items, but a thought I have would be introducing it as specifically "Primordial Sets" so they are tied to specific single sets that can be equipped.

@placid plinth Sorry to ping you, I was asking about channeled flurry the other day, as I'm doing testing I just wanted to ask if Foot of the Mountain (Mana Cost) Drelkor's (Mana Cost) and multiple passive nodes that deal with mana cost are in fact impacting the cost/damage of channeled flurry, is that intended or a bug?
I'm not sure what the interaction is currently. Channelled costs and mana costs should be completely distinct from each other.
It does seem that the Foot of the mountain is reducing the overall channel cost of Flurry when it is set to channel. Additionally, I can confirm for sure that the Multishot node with channeled flurry is being impacted. If Multishots cost is reduced, the new cost replaces the additional channel cost of the node, in my case it is going from +8 channel cost to +0. It feels like there is more going on with it but I'd have to do more testing to figure out exactly what that is

Modifiers to mana cost apply to channel cost by default (+/- then %/efficiency), but channel cost does not count as a mana cost or mana spent for most effects. Yes, it's a little confusing, but that's just how it works right now.
Point is that I don't believe (Based on how Mike described it) that this is intentional.

There's a lot of speculation about the usage of the word "Expansion" in Last Epoch Orobyss promotion, especially with regards to the monetization of the game. Will Orobyss be a separate purchase from the base game, or will it be a free update (or is it a secret third option)?

Lore question: Why are undead Leech Slayers fighting Titan Leeches in the Titan Canyon?
Aren't the leeches used by the Imperials (undead) to gain Titan blood?
I’ve noticed a issue with item implicit stats in the game. Most items just give +armor, which makes Strength builds much stronger defensively compared to other builds.
Dexterity builds don’t have any items with +dodge implicit.
Intelligence builds don’t have any items with +ward implicit.
Also, Dexterity and Intelligence items generally provide very little armor and lack Strength-based bonuses to increase %armor. This makes these builds struggle defensively, especially on higher difficulties.
Does anyone else see the imbalance here? Are you planning to fix or add items with more useful implicit stats, for example, giving dexterity items implicit +dodge or intelligence items implicit +ward?

Hello! I am curious as to why caches takes ages to spill out their loot? It's 'fun' the first few times you're discovering the game and playing the campaign, but it's only tedious once you're chain farming monos.
Even worse is the cache taking 2-3 business days to spawn their lizard : You're already 1-3 screens away and running backward is never fun.
Is there meant to be a waypoint in The Sky Chains map?

I think it was in a dev stream awhile ago where it was mentioned that some sets might get additional pieces without increasing how many the complete set needs so they're more flexible. Example: Boots of the Last Bear. Is still something that might be happening or has the idea been dismissed at this point?
I talk a lot about ideas that are in very different stages. None of the existing sets will have additional pieces added to them in Season 4. It is possible that could do that in the future. I was probably just rambling about random ideas for various options for sets. I pitched a set last week that was 7 pieces but they were all 1H swords so it only had a 2 set bonus. It got rejected for a few reasons but we're discussing and debating various options.
I'm not sure why really. Probably for the reason you said though. Hit us up in #1210281911872786482 about it.

They are fighting the Leeches to
- harvest them for the blood they've drawn from the Titan, and
- keep them from roaming too far from the facility.
The relationship between the Imperials and the Leeches isn't a willing one the part of the Leeches. The Empire dug up the Titan and began harvesting its blood, and in the process disturbed these Leeches that had been feeding on it for a long long time. While their primary way of drawing the blood is all of the pipes and hoses etc, they've also developed a process to harvest and extract blood from these Leeches as well. Part of this harvesting of the Leeches is controling the situation if they break out of the normal pipeline and start roaming the facility, that's when the Leech Slayers come in to clean up.

The blood is used in one of the Empire's many many experiments towards finding a way to extend their undeath. The Titan is one that has been in a cyptobiosis style hibernation for a long time, ceasing nearly all of its living functions. The Empire has been using its magic to balance waking it enough to be able to draw blood while also keeping it paralyzed and unable to lash out.

Honestly I’m fine with sharing a screen as long as it’s generous like in Diablo 4. And to me personally smooth co-op inventory management is crucial. I remember fighting PoEs in co-op, but that was also years ago (my husband did not like PoE compared to LE and Diablo)

If you want to test it, start recording your outcomes. If you can get 100 of them, you'll probably start to see the numbers lining up.
The How is pretty trivial, you'd weigh certain modifiers for certain item types differently hardcoded.

that is not a trivial thing to do at all. You have to look into the current character to predict which mod is desirable in that situation and you don't know if they are making the item fro their current character or an alt.
Different builds want different things. So this would also weigh it towards positive outcomes for some.
And if it looked at your character for similar stats or something it'd make it manipulatable which would be a no-go as well. You'd basically need to build an entire AI that keeps track of all your characters and actions or something crazy lmfao

So instead of fixing spirit barrage to resolve the issues of it firing immediately and dealing damage along untelegraphed lines, crystal barrage was implemented with the exact same problems. Was there a reason that devs decided that this wasnt an issue instead of fixing it?
Each thing in the game that can use abilities and take damage is an Actor. Each actor has a component for tracking these things.
Temporary status effects which are not formalized as an ailment go through the a Stat Buffs component which tracks individual simple stat changes.
Ailments are tracked similarly through that actor's Ailment Receiver which has a big list of each current ailment. Each element in the list represents 1 type of ailment but can represent multiple stacks of that ailment. So if you apply 3 ignites with an attack and then 4 stacks with another attack, it will have 2 entries in the list. Each entry tracks which actor applied it and any modifiers to those stacks such as damage or duration.
You know what I never thought about being able to bundle ailments from the same hit together since they'll always have the same duration, that's neat

Is there any rune mage build for high corruption (300-500+) with all elements, not by only one?
This class design is about all elements using or am I wrong?
This likely isn't the channel to ask in (it's meant more for questions around technical, lore or decisions made). Runemaster isn't much different than any other class/mastery inherently in that it doesn't really have any big incentive for you to mix several damage types. So generally you'll find that even on runemaster builds will generally only deal one type of damage, since it's easiest to scale your damage that way.
There are things like the crest of unity helmet that makes elemental nova always tri element (which would be a negative usually) in exchange for giving it a bunch of levels and other bonuses. But this isn't specific to runemaster. There's also a few runic invocations that deal all three elements but they're not very popular since there's no real reason to use them over more focused invocations or skills.
So existence of elemental damage increase (all 3 at once) is not a hint into the direction "you can play via 3 elements"?
Well you can. And you'd likely do decently. But it wouldn't be "optimal" hence why not many people make builds that do it.
I think the two abilities are kinda hard to compare but I'm not sure either are completely broken. It's possible that they are overtuned but I'm not seeing anything really bad from either just at a glance. I might just have missed the issue. They might be having issues with scaling too hard when corruption gets really high. Some things start to break down at extremely high corruption.
As a note, I think it can be a positive thing if there are specific enemies that are especially dangerous to specific builds in specific situations. Even more so if those specific enemies are different for different builds.
It might not be quite as obvious as a line on the ground but from what I can see, the Crystal Spriggan should always do a Lightning Strike ability before it starts using Crystal Barrage. So you should get a little warning that one is about to start using it. Not an easy pattern to find and play around but I hope it helps.
If you think it's an issue that does need dev intervention to fix, please submit a bug report in game with [F8]. Even if it's not strictly a bug, it could just be a mistake and that is the most effective way of communicating those issues to us for resolution.
im talking about the crystal barrage that rift beasts do, its negligible if youre ranged but in melee range it shoots really fast and seems to be able to shotgun. I had thought there was a dev post somewhere about addressing spirit barrage from last season but I cant find it unfortunately, lots of people complaining about getting one-tapped by it though.
We must have a different name for it internally, the Crystal Spriggan version was the only one that came up in the files when I took a quick look. Regardless though, it's something we can look at, just pop open a quick bug report in game with [F8].

there is the one node in fury leap that cleanses you & your allies in range on landing though *(which is especially useful in werebear form.) & it is more consistent.

lol the classic confirmation bais answer I got this in 1.1 so I started writing down all my attempts and outcomes for slams in 1.2 and ultimately its why I left too with a 23% success rate on 147 slams
Of the hundreds of times I've been told that there is a hidden negative bias in the odds, I've never had someone bring hard evidence. When soft evidence has been brought, I've investigated and have never been able to replicate the results. 23% instead of 33% (assuming we're talking about 2LP slams) isn't too far outside the expected value for a sample size of 147. Sure the odds of that happening are on the lower side but 0% and 100% success are both technically possible.
Confirmation bias makes that 23% feel like 15% which is why I usually tell people to start recording it because while you might not be hitting the exact expected value, it's probably not as bad as it feels.
mix of lp2 and lots of lp3, I was playing 10 hours a day so had a ton of time to farm lp3s and 777 items and 7776 and the occassional 7777 its tough to craft a 777x to get what you want a lot of the time you get 2x77 and a third you dont care about and a t1/2 due to FP - you slam it on an lp3 and you get the T1, the shit 7 and 1 of the 7s you wanted and FYI this happened (well its just listed as bricked lp3s) 51 on my piece of paper - I also have a cool stat since I kept all my lp2 bricked seed helms from 1.1 since it was a running joke that it was the most bricked item - I slammed in 1.1 and 1.2 combined 21 LP2 seeds and I hit 0 successful slams on it, thats a fun stat lol - anyways point is I wrote it all down, I confirmed that my luck is infact f**king terrible but I also confirmed the odds drop dramatically once you select a guarenteed T7 that the next 7 you want is much less chance of hitting, have a good evening, back to grim dawn lol 😛
While the sample size is small that is almost 3 standard deviations away from the expected result with the odds of landing that few (or less) being 0.462%. So honestly it's fair that you're frustrated 🫂
For context you can expect about 1 in 220 people to be that unlucky. So that it happened to someone (out of the entire playerbase) is incredibly likely, some people likely got even more unlucky than you. But it still sucks.
stuff like this makes me wonder whether it's all is pure RNG or there is some system to force the chances to be close to what a player would expect them to be after X amount of tries 🧐
I have had things happen in poe that are one in millions or thousands. And I have heard people talking about experiences like that as well. But you have to consider:
- In a game like LE or PoE you interact with 100s of drop types, outcomes, and other opportunities for freak accidents
- I have played PoE for 20k hours over 12 years
- If you need 20 things to go right dropwise, slamwise, proccwise for a single build to work out, and you make 20 per year for 12 years. That is 240 builds with 4800 different cases where you can be freakishly unlucky. It just happens

In PoE I might have spent 1 million orb of fusing, or potentially a few times more. The odds of having a bad luck streak in the one in a thousand then, considering there are like 30 other orb types you could get unlucky on instead. It's not that unlikely. But when you get that soul crushing, insanity-inducing, streak of bad luck, it's basic psychology you will look for a more personified reason than you are just that unlucky. Humans get religious in situations like that. Pure chance is ultimately a very unsatisfactory conclusion for the human brain, the human brain looks for motivations and reasons/intent in everything if you let it, especially if you're desperate.
Ps. Not saying you shouldn't look for patterns btw as that's what we're good at, just that when the reason is actual soulless RNG, it's very human to be unsatisfied with that
But like if you have a hypothesis and do testing which gives results that backs that hypothesis up, then use established formulas to prove it's very unlikely your results are a fluke, you've basically done science
Are there nodes in the Weaver tree known to be bugged?
On my last character, I would consistently get 1000+ Memory Amber in Folly-boosted Cemetery of the Reweaving, while now, with better Weaver tree nodes, I'm only getting like 500 consistently.
Warden's Echo and Memories of Fortune are nodes I didn't have before. With Memories, I should be getting more, if anything.
Is it possible that Memories is bugged and makes you gain less instead of more?

Is there a reason why flat minion melee/bow/spell damage mods are exclusive to some base types? For instance, I want melee and spell damage on my wand but it can't roll on wands, I can only get bow/spell. Any possibility we get one generic minion damage mod that works for all 3?

It's usually a combination of reasons. Balance is usually the primary one but sometimes it's also to keep the affix pool for that item type more evenly spread. That is the plan but it requires more work than weapons because they need to be rigged for all the characters
It depends on the situation, like damage number popups always round up. Most stuff doesn't round, so if you're talking about game mechanics, the answer is almost always it doesn't round unless it physically needs to (such as for max minion count, or a notable exception is attributes do round).
Yeah there used to be a lot more rounding that actually affected us before with how affixes used to work (0-255 rolls being mapped to smaller ranges and then using bankers rounding to get a whole number, but only visually. With the actual stat not being rounded). But nowadays there's no actually significant rounding like that afaik, maybe crit chance?
In Runic Invocation there is Mastery of the Invoker, which allows other skills that consume runes to cast invocations. What other skills consume runes? Can we consume runes when we get to max 3 runes and then we consume 1 every time we use skill until we cast the invocation which takes 3 runes for example?
Runebolt can consume runes with imbued runestone. Glyph of dominion can consume runes with Power word: Devastation

Same, I’m ALL FOR buying an expansion for additional story, so is my husband. But we don’t even have a completed base game story yet. I’m not sure I like the idea of buying an expansion that expands the story when the Og story isn’t finished.

I'm not fully up to date on it but from what I heard because we do server authoritative everything, there is little danger for bad actors affecting other players. I could be wrong about this and I'm sure that the people who manage the engine are taking the necessary steps.
FWIW most of the analysis of the Unity vulnerability is essentially "You don't have to worry about it unless you're an android dev, having a registered URL handler on Windows, or using Unity for some 'not actually a game' purpose in a weird setting like a "not a game" unity app that's installed on a server somewhere". The cited threat vector (passing a malicious command line to the unity app to do something) means (in most cases, note the above exception scenarios) the attacker is either already sitting at your keyboard or is tricking you into running The Bad Thing, which at that point there's way easier routes than abusing a Unity vuln.

Hey devs. I’ve been playing Last Epoch for a long time and it’s honestly one of the best ARPGs I’ve ever played. I just wanted to share a few ideas that, I think, could really improve the game and make life easier for players.
First, it would be great if the game showed the current lowest auction price and the number of items sold in the last month directly on the item tooltip when you hover over it, based on the lowest listing with the same LP value (0–4). That would help players understand the real market value without constantly checking the AH.
Second, it would be super convenient to be able to search the auction directly by an item from the inventory — for example, right-clicking an idol and instantly seeing similar idols with the same base and affixes on the AH.
Third, it would be nice if pets could automatically collect gold, keys, runes, glyphs, and other stackable items that don’t take up inventory space. It wouldn’t affect balance but would make them actually useful instead of just cosmetic.
And one more suggestion: please consider making auction listings time-limited, like 30 days. After that, the price could automatically halve each day until it reaches zero and the listing expires. Right now, the AH is full of old and overpriced items that never sell, and this would really help keep it clean and active.

If you hover your cursor over where the box should be you should see a cogwheel in the top right you can click to get to options and uncheck having it disabled. If that's not the case are you maybe playing in full offline mode?
Going offline after logging in still lets you see chat. But launching in offline doesn't

Oh I just tested it and the cogwheel doesn't show by just hovering your cursor over it. You do have to press enter to open it first. You can check if you're in online or offline via the ping bar to the right of your hotbar

i am definitely online and my keybinds havent changed so not sure whats the deal. its still return/enter to open chat but it doesnt do that. i also been noticing as of late when i am trying to pick a server it gets stuck on loading for the server. i dont know if its a visual bug or not. but yeah i should be able to see chat and such.
Sorry I'm not sure then, this is the first I've heard of this happening so it's likely not a widespread issue (I didn't have any issues when I logged on just now either). You can try contacting support, hopefully they can help figure it out.

Afaik it should be neither. Going off of the ideologies around why the nemesis eggs aren't affected by that stuff, it shouldn't be. (I can check tomorrow, just on mobile at the moment)
i like playing support char but there is one problem whit javelin node capture the flag if only is possible to be thrown on ally player for better dps gain especially range char
Thank you for checking. Also, I read online that Champions always drop items with sealed champion affixes. Is this regardless of zone level? I have killed 2 recently in a level 10 zone and neither dropped a sealed champion affix. Is this a bug or is this intended on lower level zones?

Yes, it is guaranteed regardless of zone level (well, at least once champs can start appearing, which is a fairly low level). Just be sure you haven't hid them with your filter, they can be easy to miss especially if you hide off-class items since a few are class-locked.
Ok i currently am not running a loot filter and 2 champions did not drop a champion item so I just submitted a big report.

I didn't say that. I don't think adding such a big power boost to some of the most powerful items is a great idea. I don't think people would appreciate the significant drop rate reduction that would be required to make that be reasonable.

some people think they MUST get the two wanted affixes and spend time focusing entirely on that, considering that time wasted if they don't get it. in reality you can continue playing the game without them, and try to get it naturally as you find items

Why arent the two affixes for the Rhythm of the Tide blessing linked? one can roll high and the other can roll low, its preposterous.
We have unlinked item affix rolls all over the place. What is the issue with this one in particular?

More of a lack of consistency, some two-affix blessings have their values linked and some dont, its disheartening to see that little purple wheel all the way around and end up getting high roll for one affix and low for the other
AFAIK there isnt a way to see which blessing affixes are linked and which ones arent (for users anyways) outside of just seeing how they roll, ive only noticed it with this particular one
Having them be inconsistent across various blessings sounds like a mistake to me. I would submit a bug report in game [F8].

it's a pretty generic error code that can mean the game isn't communicating with the server properly for some reason. One possible reason is no internet connection. I don't remember the exact wording but I don't think it's that absolute in its diagnosis.

Hotfixes and small patches usually don't get patch notes before the patch goes out because they are often prepared while the patch is being validated which means that they are ready to go around the same time that the patch goes live.
Major patches do get notes as early as we can, usually a few days to a week before the patch. The timeline is a similar reason, we are often polishing the patch notes as the build is going through final validation.
I'm sure it was discussed when it was being implemented, but do you remember the reasons it was chosen that guaranteed affix from slamming would be available from T2 and up? For me it feels like the kind of reward that would go perfectly for T4 only, giving extra reason to do it for lower level uniques. Though I am happy with the current implementation too.

We didn't want people to wait until they were able to complete T4 before doing any slams. ARPG players are quite frequently optimizers and knowing that you can get a better result by doing a harder mode will drive many players to hold off and not get the interim upgrades which will help them complete those harder modes.

Because a lot of players feel that it's not worth getting a "small" upgrade when they can just power through, wait some levels and get a way bigger upgrade

I've observed the opposite has happened since introducing this mechanic; Players slam their 1lp unique so early that even a lackluster 1lp unique is better than most exalted items. Since I started playing in 0.8 there's never been a time where you are introduced to so much power so quickly when going through normal monos and early empowered. It's like you can bypass the entire stages of using rare items and tier 6 exalts, and during 1.1 and previous patches this didnt seem to exist. Evo's End adds more fuel to the fire this season. It's cool you guys took a risk trying to solve some end-game minmaxing frustrations but I hope this system does get reevaluated soon, it's making a larger chunk of the natural progression skippable and is a big reason I keep seeing these comments online "endgame is easy so I stopped playing" to find out they quit playing at 210 corruption.

Prophecies that trigger upon killing a boss are able to drop that bosses specific uniques. So a prophecy that says "Kill rayeh to get unique gloves" can drop atrophy.

i tested some mechanics with Channel Flurry & Charged Puncture/Detonating Arrow.
Is it intended that only channeling skills like Flurry snapshot or benefit from buffs like Coated Blades (Rogue passive), Elemental Arrows (MM passive), Dark Quiver Black Arrow buffs?
For the charged skills non of the dmg buffs apply to the arrows even though the tooltip says ''to your next bow attack''.

Not in general, no. We have set up temporary metrics for specific things in the past.
Delay Charged abilities do work slightly differently than classically channeled abilities. They should function the same in this regard.
In the future, I would prefer you to make the bug report regardless of if it is confirmed to be a bug or not. This is because even if it's not a bug, it's not clear so it needs to be addressed.
For something like charged puncture. Would the initial "charge" skill be considered the parent skill to the actual puncture that shoots out when you're done?
Or would the puncture that shoots out still directly come from your character, meaning it wouldn't inherit its stats from the "charge" skills but instead directly from your character.
Tldr: would while channeling stats apply to charged skills.
It should be the first but I could see it being the second if the symptoms listed above are reproducible.

Just to add to this, that is a decision we make each season so future seasons could potentially have some elements which don't roll over. So far the only time we did that was with the limited undead invasion event but that was very clearly listed as a temporary event right from the start.

Hi Mike, the financial performance the game had in the past serves as direct feedback in terms of content and design philosophy? What I'm trying to get specifically is the lack of more complex systems that can be more engaging and time-consuming(in a positive way)
I feel that more complex mechanics if well implemented can be a good thing to the game, specially when endgame is kinda lacking.
I'm not quite sure what the question is here but in the most broad sense of if a business isn't profitable then something is wrong, sure. I'm not so sure that you can use the lack of profitability alone to point to any one specific issue. It could be as you say but it could just as easily be the exact opposite. We often look to our #feedback channel to find out what people are telling us more specifically.
Sometimes, a video game may lack in profitability due to factors not related to the content, like reduced marketing, real life economy variations, difficulty reaching overseas markets etc.
IMHO, LE doesn't need complex system, no matter how well implemented. It sits perfectly in the middle of 2 great and genre-defining arpgs, and I really enjoy it for it.
More content is always welcome when implemented wisely, but complexity isn't necessarily a universal success metric.

I agree that giving gold to a friend should have a system established that heavily distinguishes it from RMT. I'm not a game dev so I don't know how you'd track that but if me and my buddy wants to play mg, I should be able to buy something for them the same way I can send them a cof boosted item that dropped in our map (obviously not a 1-1 situation but technically that's the equivalent of taking advantage of the faction I play to help a friend out)
To be fair you can do that with a resonance. But I know that's not a satisfying answer considering how rare obsidians are.
From the amount I've played in s3 they didn't seem any meaningful amount of more common either, and it's not even a matter of "you didn't play in a party enough" because I play almost exclusively in one. I recall mike saying pre s3 that they're looking into adjusting the rates because they feel off but I didn't notice any noteworthy difference myself (I didn't miss any either, I put an obsidian loot beam on them exclusively for them and nothing else)
Anecdotal evidence counterpoint, my buddy and I who play together frequently found 2 infinity percent more obsidian resonances this season than we have ever in all combined previous seasons.
Mike, just as a design philosophy, do you like the idea of a trading mechanic in ARPG (MG here, whatever its called in POE, etc) or would you (and EHG) prefer something like CoF and other drop modes for loot where currency for items is not part of game design. I ask because it seems like communities in any of these games are never happy with their currency trade systems. hope this word salad makes sense and have a lovely day!
Before the item faction (and factions in general) were announced. We were actually not gonna have trade at all and it caused enough outrage for EHG to pivot towards the system we now have.
Initially all we'd have would be the gifting system basically.

If I had to choose between the two for a game that I was going to play myself, it is a tough choice but I'd probably go with no-trade myself. If I was designing a game where I had full control, I would probably pick trade.

You can report UI tooltip issues in #tooltip-hunt channel or by pushing F8 key in game to send an in game bug report, that sends a picture to the devs as well as your description
In which order (if any) do item slots apply their stats and if you have two items with mutually exclusive stats such as replacing your evade, would it be the one who replaces it first or last that takes priority?
The items do not have an application order, individual stats have an application/priority order. Multiple evade replacers will always be in the same priority. I don't know the order off the top of my head but I could check if you want.

well I was reading the rambling but basically the items get turned into stats and then the stats get applied to ability uses. Order doesn't matter.
Alright so the "your character is an object and that has stats applied to it on item equip" is basically along the correct lines. And then the skill mutator grabs stats in a certain order
Do things like unique properties that your character doesn't have still get checked and are just ignored? like does the list of stats on your character always contain all stats, even the ones you don't have. And they just don't have an effect when you use a skill since they're either "false" or 0, or whatever the equivalent would be. Or is the list dynamic, only containing the things your character actually has

Alright one last one lmao. If you don't have empty stats how come they're always in the same order? Like if let's say added health is always #1 and increased health is always #2 in the stat list order. If I have no added health, but I do have increased health, and then I gain added health, how does it know to put the added health in front of the increased health? Like you're not just doing list.add since that'd put it at the end of the list (this would of course also apply to stats that should be in the middle of your current stat-list, or anywhere else for that matter). Is the list sorted using a stat ID or something? x)
Since I assumed if you did have "empty stats" we could say that added health is just element 0 in your array, and it'd just be set to 0 or null or whatever and ignored until you gained some, and then it'd be default go before any other stats.
for the character sheet? that's just static UI that's looking at your stats and displaying what it can find

I guess I'm asking how stats are structured in general on your character object. Like are they all in one list/array (This is what I'd assume), or is it something different? And if they are all in one big list, how do you enforce this set order without designating static indexes for each stat or sorting the list every time a stat is gained/lost, or do you just sort it. Like if for example I have a character with 5 stats total:
- Added health
- Increased health
- Increased lightning damage
- Increased critical strike chance
- Movement speed
And nothing else, and that's the order they get processed as well, by skills lets say.
If I now lose all sources of added health (I know levels give added health, bad example but cut me some slack). My list would look like this right:
- Increased health
- Increased lightning damage
- Increased critical strike chance
- Movement speed
Now increased health is in index 0, since I did list.remove or something on my added health stat (no "empty" stats). If I now gain added health again, how does it know to put added health in index 0 and push everything else forward? So that the set order of stats is kept.

When the thing that is using the stats wants to use them. It is smart enough to know the correct order to use them in.

No, each situation applies them in their own application specific order. There are only like 3 that I can think of where it even matters.

ok i am curious about something and i know that there has been talk on livestreams, but why is there not a high corruption ladder? its something i think is needed/wanted at this point. one of my friends is super high on the corruption level but people giving him flak for playing a rogue build thats not meta. i dont know why people are hating on it but the guy has cleared 2200 corruption and i think thats mighty impressive for someone who went against the grain. this still is hopefully a featire that can be implemented soon.

It's going to be a lot longer before we make a decision on it. I think that part of the issue is the feeling that this is a soon thing. We are much more focused on the next season and the one after that and so on before we're settling on a lot of the details for the expansion. Hopefully the next roadmap will put that into perspective a little more.
The people who will work on it have higher priority things to do at the moment. That's about it.

Just curious about something. I've always thought it was odd that of all the skills that should have a node for electrify, Lightning Blast does not. Nor (I believe) do any other Mage lightning-based spells. Was it deemed to be too potentially strong when combined with Shock?
Nope, Electrify is just made to be thematic for Sentinels (Paladin in specific) is what it boils down to

There's no real written formula. But this as well as a couple of other game guide entries like the base damage one (I know this is a third party site but these entries are in the in-game game guide as well.) basically give you the whole context of how damage calculations work

An actual formula would look like something along these lines, you have to sum and product your different modifiers (it would also need to explain what all the upper limits and the "source of x" actually are) which makes it pretty unintuitive to look at (and tbh I might've even made a mistake), so just describing the process is a lot easier.
And dots would need their own formula as well
I think that more damage is calculated before crit even though it makes no difference at all. Also don't forget super crits now too.

Are we ever going to see a reduction to the amount of party play needed for obsidians? Or even better, a guild sharing system with similar kind of play+member time thresholds? It's a bit rough right now due to different characters quickly separating out across corruption levels/content, even when playing as a guild/group.
Ever is a long time. A lot can happen between now and then. All I can really say is if we are planning to do it for season 4.
We don't have plans for a major change to the gifting system in season 4.

Yo devs I know you guys do what you can but sometimes you need to bring certain features before a new season arrives,with all the rng that last epoch has why since their introduction we still dont have a reliable way to farm havoc runes from prophecies as a cof,higher corruption,primal beasts are nice but its not great,and rune prophecies is not good imo .
Speaking of suggestions - does EHG actually read the suggestions forum and the in game bug reports? It seems weird that bugs can persist for multiple seasons without even being listed as "known"
There's no list of all currently known bugs. It would be too much work to maintain. Yes they get read, but some bugs are low impact, hard to fix or a combination of the two so they stick around for a long time.
For example the ice spike node in shatter strike has been bugged since 0.9 iirc but the bug is basically inconsequential, so much so that even if it were easy to fix it's understandable why it's stuck around for so long. There are way more pressing bugs that need fixing.

Yes it does. There have been several features and decisions that were either based on or influenced by feedback and suggestions. A recent example would be having a guaranteed affix when you slam a unique in the eternity cache.

Mostly its like, ive got some notes on ideas for QOL and overall improvements but if nobodys going to read them I dont want to waste the time organizing them for a post
That's fair. I'd definitely say EHG do listen to feedback and suggestions more so than any other studio their size that I know of. But do keep in mind just because something seems like a good idea / pure positive for the game there's often a lot of hidden nuance to these things and there could be a multitude of reasons why something doesn't get implemented even if lots of people want it

We definitely do take feedback and suggestions in from the community and we use that quite a bit. I've made a few posts here going into details of how we use that feedback.
It's something I also comment on a lot during the Friday dev streams. Something that is important to note about them is that we often get conflicting feedback and suggestions so no matter what we do, we are simultaneously "listening" to and "ignoring" our players.
I like to think of it like the feedback channel as having a seat at the table. Our design process includes a lot of debates and discussions where lots of people voice their opinions. The community is kinda like an extra designer in those discussions. Sometimes those discussions go the way the community is asking for and sometimes it doesn't but we always consider the community feedback.
It's also important to note that a lot of really fantastic suggestions that come in are just not possible to do. Other times they are possible but are not feasible because it would mean making a compromise in a category that we aren't prepared to do. Like for example, we get suggestions to be able to go directly from an echo into the next one without going back to the interim echo of a world zone. That's something we would love to do and have tried to work out a way to do it several times now. It's just not something we are able to do right now.
Probably a more frequently requested feature in that same category is pausing in online mode. Something that we have been wanting to do ever since online came out but we just don't have a way to do it yet. Who knows if it will happen but I sure hope so.
I know that it's hard to post feedback and suggestions into a channel that doesn't get someone posting "good idea" in reply to the posts but we don't want to get people's hopes up that something will be added just because we like the idea.
All I can do is continue to tell people that those channels are the best way to tell us what you want in the game.

There is a wolf node that is badly interacting with the trex relic that people have been reporting that hasnt been fixed yet
The node is an issue, but it isn't just related to Tyrant's Skull. I started a new Beastmaster, and before getting the node or TS I was using The Claw and getting 2 Wolves but changing zones / putting a point into Summon Wolf unsummons one of them. With the node but not the relic, I still see wolves getting unsummoned. I think that issue (with The Claw) existed even before the S3 update.

I don't have the exact formula on hand at the moment sorry. I can tell you that it is only on hit, not kill and it only cares if you are full or not. There is no difference between being 0/1 or 0/10 or 1/10 or 9/10.

Memory leak bugs are extremely important and they are very quickly addressed. We ask that you please do not use this channel for bugs and instead use the in game bug reporting tool [F8] as that goes directly into our triage system. It also has the option to submit logs and character data which, especially with memory leak issues, is very useful.
However, bugs like this are often not fixable by most of the team. So while there are devs who are working on issues like this, we're going to keep doing all the other things at the same time too. This doesn't mean it's not super high priority, we just work on lots of things at the same time.

Hi Mike, I'm unsure if there was ever a confirmed answer for this (It was asked but I can't find an answer). If you have the new carrion of creation primordial gloves as well as a weapon with the meteor champions bleed to ignite conversion affix, which takes priority? does it just use the left to right rule in the order the damage types are put in the character sheet like other tiebreakers? or does it function differently?
I'd assume ignite -> bleed takes priority over bleed -> ignite, but maybe it's determined by the resulting damage type instead of the initial one.
I did do a test for this at some point to answer a question about it but I don't remember the outcome. I'll check again in a bit.

Is it intended behavior that a Rune of Evolution will take a Glyph of Chaos into account when upgrading from t7 to t8? It was my bad that the Chaos glyph was still there, although it was grayed out, so I’ll own the oopsie. That being said, it seems like Evolution could be made oopsie-proof (ignoring Glyphs) given the importance of such an upgrade.

Yes, it is intended to work that way and is not a bug. I just checked and I'm not seeing the glyph greyed out. The check to see if it should grey out is the same check to see if it is used so I'd be surprised if it greys out the glyph with the rune in there. If it is greying out for you please submit that as a bug in game [F8]. I can't say it's a common method to use but I think it's a good thing for it to be an option at least.

That’s one restriction that’s at least worth considering, I think. There’s a difference between the usual gambling nature of forging/crafting, where a bad result is entirely possible and we live with whatever result we get, vs fully intending to upgrade a chosen T7 to T8 and not getting it because Chaos was active. It’s a PEBKAC error for sure, but given the costs inherent to Evolution runes and the difficulty getting all the variables lined up…it’s not a great feeling.
I'm sure there's someone out there who'd gamble it on mediocre T7s to see what happens (me, hi)

Though Rampant Coast does give Havoc itself right? Not just Rune of Evolution. So prolly not worth. Maybe when you have 1 FP left, but that's more a Redemption use case. With the intended availability of the different components in any given situation, it should probably be of very little benefit to have the option. I just think like though, if you disable 1 glyph it could lead to some players thinking they can't use other glyphs, just as likely as to people using Glyph of Chaos by mistake.

Hi Mike - back to the Summon Wolf thing - Can you clarify what the exact intended purpose was for Permanent Bond and whether the player is intended to be able to summon additional wolves? In other words, without Tyrant's Skull equipped and The Claw equipped, and I have 4 Maximum Companions, should I be able to summon 4 wolves (plus the "free" one). Is that intended? Having a "debate" over this on Steam forums. Thanks!
If you have this node then yes
Safety in numbers, herald of the scurry, naal's tooth and storm crows (inherently) are the only ways to summon one companion type up to your companion limit
The only other ways to summon more than one companion of a companion type are permanent bond (which doesn't count towards your max) in summon wolf and friend of the forest in spriggan form (which does count towards your maximum)
TLDR: If you don't have safety in numbers you should not be able to summon more than 1 wolf outside of the permanent bond wolf

"Fiery justice" node on Multistrike - which cast forged strike on max stacks of multistrike is by design/ or by bug not affected by forged strike skill tree? i thinked before all "cast on" are affected by actuall skill strees.
Yes, it is intended that Warrior's Fury doesn't increase the damage of the axes from vortex pennant.
Warrior's Fury: For each second you continuously spin, Warpath deals more damage (multiplicative with other modifiers) in a larger area, but costs more mana per second.
This means that Warpath itself is dealing more damage.
Vortex Pennant: You throw an axe at a nearby enemy every second while channelling Warpath.
This means that you throw an axe so it's not Warpath that is doing the throwing so since your damage is affected by Warrior's Fury, the axe does not deal more damage.
in the post I replied to you were saying that the axes are a subskill of warpath and should benefit from/inherit non-target conditional stats like many other subskills do (eg smite fissure & electric smite lightning bolts are boosted by sacrifice)
In most other skills it explicitly states that it doesn't affect subskills, so we've been conditioned to assume that if the wording doesn't explicitly state that, and uses the base skill name, then it affects subskills. If it's not meant to affect subskills, then that should be made explicitly clear. There's too much ambiguity in many skill node descriptions, especially regarding subskills
The wording on both are bad. Axe throw is a subskill. However Fury only applies to the specific individual hits of Warpath for some reason.
I checked the code and it is using the standard method which would have the skill tree apply. Please double check that it isn't using the tree at all and make an in game bug report if not. [F8].
There are some nodes which require a direct cast and won't apply.

Instead, it will remain this warm place for the community.

It'd be kinda like if holy eruption in judgement was also called judgement and you took the holy blast node. The node would instead say "Judgement (holy eruption) deals more damage", but it would still only apply to the subskill and not the parent skill.
It also makes sense now why chariot only works once every 4 seconds, since the warpath that's actually dealing the damage isn't the skill you're channeling

How come the subskill even has the movement tag? Does it just have the exact same tags as the channeled skill even though it's neither channeled nor moves you?
Referring to warpath that is. Since if it didn't have the movement tag the chariot boots shouldn't work at all right

I feel like this warrants a discussion or something. With how LE almost always promotes doing IGBR above everything when it comes to bugs and issues, but now still needing something like this post at this time, I am asking, Is there no proper triage, ticketing or any system that checks frequent reported bugs? Old bugs that have always been reported repeatedly? No manpower to skim the igbr tickets or lists? Old bugs and issues should have been somewhere in the IGBR pile for sure. Just asking why is there a need for another gathering of information on different areas etc, since it just seems to show that the current IGBR tool system isnt working like its supposed to.
I know I'm being a pain in the neck about this, and I apologize. Without my typing another wall of text here, can a dev please say whether Permanent Bond is working as intended. i.e., I am not intended to ever have more than 2 wolves with the node selected (even when using Claw/Fang) even if Max Companions > 2. Thanks, and I swear I won't bring this up again.
You should and are able to have more than 2 with permanent bond
the permanent bond wolf ignores your max companion limit. So if your companion limit is 2 (default for beastmaster) you get 3 wolves total

Them unsummoning has nothing to do with permanent bond, the claw or any of this. That's simply a measure against snapshotting, Although I don't think they should unsummon when you transition, but for sure when you respec
I agree about the snapshotting, but of the issues is that if using Tyrant's Skull, I have to un-equip it, as well as unsummon any other companions. Then I can re-summon my full pack, and then re-equip Tyrant's Skull (but then I can't use the +x skill point for SW since that triggers the un-summon/re-summon). I would have zero issue if the icon didn't change to Howl and I have to go through those steps to get the SW icon back. Even funnier is that since I have to have Claw/Fang equipped but after re-summoning I can use a different amulet and the extra wolves remain. It didn't do that before the node change either.
Why would you have to un-equip tyrants skull?
If I leave it equipped, the Howl icon remains. As soon as I unequip it, it changes to Summon Wolf.

The IGBR requires a very key thing that we have no control over at all. People need to use it. I will frequently see posts on reddit, forums, discord, and elsewhere that say something to the effect of that there is some long standing bug that we are ignoring. Most of the time when I go check the bug reports form in game it's usually not in there at all, not a bug or something we've already fixed.
In an attempt to deal with the first of those issues, we are trying something different to try and target the specific reports of long standing bugs.
I think a decent chunk of these extremely old bugs pre-date the bug report tool and people just kinda assume you guys knew about them. Like take me for example. I've never reported the shatter strike icicle bug using the bug report tool because the bug predates it. I likely would have reported it if it was anything worth fixing, but a lot of people likely forget about them or don't give these bugs a second thought anymore. So posts like the one you guys just made are probably a decent way of reminding people of those old bugs, as long as people actually go to the post and put in the time to report the bug that is.

Not a professional developer but an interested outsider.
Very difficult. As an example; PoE put their mobile game (not port, separate game) on the backburner because of how much it was taking to develop it and has not given indication of starting it back up.
I think the control scheme is the biggest hurdle. Keeping the UI as clear as possible so you can see as much of the battlefield as possible is really important. Since you don't have physical buttons to work with, the UI has to allow for those buttons to be press-able on screen so they have to be big enough. A 1:1 port would require at least 10 actions. 10 buttons to be large enough to be usable in game on a phone is unlikely to work well.
Then on top of that there is the whole issue of phones frequently being quickly put away and the game is not designed to handle frequent stop/starts at a moment's notice.
As Diablo and PoE have shown us, it needs to be a separate game and we aren't prepared to branch out like that.
Having said that, I did make a gamepad/phone holder out of a wire coat hanger and some hockey stick tape that worked perfectly for playing chrono trigger on the bus when I was in university. If everyone had that, it doesn't fix the button mapping issue.

I lol'd because surprisingly those kind of boots as double purp avoidance/reduced actually sell very quickly on the MG. And like you, i'm unsure why.

Maybe, if you could, please use the in game bug reporting tool [F8] to report it. Regardless of if anyone else has reported it or not, that tool provides way more information so we can catalogue and fix issues.

Unique item stats aren't affixes. You can filter for their rolls using the settings for uniques.

Hi Mike. I was wondering what the team thought of the trade-off in reworking older, lesser used uniques vs making new ones. It feels to me that arpg's, especially seasonal ones almost inevitably end up with uniques that are pretty much agreed upon to be bad and not very useful. Whether it's because of power creep or them never finding a build that needs them even after an extended time in the game. Is it seen as better to just generally kinda ignore them and make new uniques to have a larger pool as well as to not maybe sadden the 3 people using Faith of the frozen, or is it just more work to "re-imagine" a unique instead of making a fresh one from the ground up?
(Faith of the frozen for context, I don't think I've ever even once seen this item be used)

I think it's a very much case by case basis. Often new items are more exciting to make and if you change an item too much, then it's almost more confusing because people get it mixed up with the old version. reworking old ones does also have the upside of not needing new art.
