Hi everyone,

I am pleased to announce the return of role icons for the server's level roles! You'll see an icon by your name now once you reach cowpoke (level 5), and receive a new icon with each role after that. The highest level role, desperado, already had a great role icon () which is still there. The existing role icons for admins, mod authors, and artisans also remain unchanged.

We'd just like to remind everyone that we have two channels for off-topic discussion! We often see a lot of off-topic discussion in the gaming channels, and while conversation happens naturally, we'd appreciate it if you took a moment to move longer conversations to either #town-square (allows SDV talk), or #adventurers-guild (no SDV allowed!). In general, off-topic conversations in our gaming channels discourages actual discussion and gameplay questions, even if you don't see people asking questions. Questions tend to get buried under off-topic conversation!

Hi everyone,

Recently we've seen a significant increase in #stardew-spoilers of embedded images being spammed or used in a way that wasn't part of discussion. Because of this, we've decided to disable image embeds there (images that Discord loads when a link is posted). Anyone with the cowpoke role will still be able to upload images to that channel.

#stardew-spoilers is a channel for discussing Stardew Valley gameplay after completing the Community Center (or Joja Warehouse). Discussion of the game before this point is also allowed of course, but because the channel does not require any messages to be marked as a spoiler, be aware that you will likely see discussions of late-game items and locations there.

FAQ
Why do I have to be 18 or older?
As moderators, we sometimes deal with adult content and content unsuitable for people under 18. While you can be a fantastic moderator under 18, we feel it's our responsibility to prevent minors from seeing adult content when we can.

How many mods will be added?
Depends on the applications! Our aim is to pretty much double our team size, but we are not adding a ton of junimos at once (so if you're not in the first 'wave', you may be in the next one-- we will provide more details when we get there). We will likely do applications in the near future as well.

Is there anything particular you're looking for?
None of this will guarantee you will become a mod, but we're always seeking people in time zones uncommon to the team (particularly opposite of the US), people who will be active in gameplay channels, and people who can help us with a lot of back-end things (from serious things like helping people who message Bouncer, to fun things like planning server events). Junimos aren't expected to do everything but you will not be added on the team to handle one task, so you should be open to a variety of moderation.

How will I know when I'm chosen?
A junimo will reach out to you and let you know, and you'll be given a small document that introduces you to the role and show you a rundown of how we moderate. From there, you'll be able to accept or deny the role, and you'll be added as an Apple Boi (moderator in training) if you accept.

We've also rolled out a quick update for Mod Authors for the #mod-showcase channel!
Our old system for showcasing posts was rather confusing, so we've gone and updated our resident art-bot @violet crescent to use right-click commands in the same way as the commands shown above.

Here's the rundown on the showcase now:
📥 Right-click a post of yours in either #making-mods or #modded-farmers and go to Apps > Publish to have Leah repost it to the #mod-showcase,
📤 Use the same command on Leah's posts in #mod-showcase to remove the post!

We've also done a tiny change and renamed #mod-showcase from #mod-author-showcase to #mod-showcase as well as moving it above #making-mods to highlight that it's for users, even if it's by mod authors. Be sure to visit and check out new custom content!

As an extra bonus for Artisans, all new creative posts in the #art-gallery now look a little fancier: they'll show your profile, current nickname, and a link back to the original post in #creative to make it easier to find artworks and artists!

HEY EVERYONE!!! The Junimo application process is DONE, we're DONE! And we're going to bring aboard... lots of people in two rounds! The reason we're adding half the applicants at a time is to make sure everyone gets proper attention and to keep things reasonable/not overwhelming for the team. Adding a lot of people is very exciting, but it can be chaotic too! Everyone asked to join the team has been contacted. The new Apple Bois will be announced in their respective rounds.

I did want to say that we read every application even if someone didn't qualify (we weren't going to make exceptions, however) and a lot of applications we really liked! If you applied and didn't qualify (i.e. you were too low of a level, were under 18, or have been in the server for less than 6 months) we encourage you to apply again when you do qualify! We'll be doing applications more frequently so you will get another chance, and we hope you continue to stick around.

And of course, there were plenty of qualified applications that we liked too, and if we didn't contact you, we really hope you apply again in the future!! 🙏 Thank you so much for applying and for having an interest in caring for this server.

Hey guys! A few people now have asked why I have a ✨fancy leaf✨ instead of the usual Junimo. That's because I have an announcement:

I am now an employee of ConcernedApe LLC! I've been doing contract work for the forums since 2020, and now I'm on board in a more official scope. My job is basically to watch over the community, continue helping out with the forums, and engaging with what y'all have to offer, which not only spans here, but for other Stardew Valley spaces, Haunted Chocolatier, and anything else planned for the future.

ConcernedApe and I share the same sentiment that community-run spaces should stay that way; we have no interest in "controlling" the community or making these spaces official. So, while I still own the server and will continue to love and support you guys, I'm no longer going to be a moderator so the team stays balanced. Nothing is changing externally and I'm not going to be less involved or suddenly disappear either.

I hope this explains this well. I'm very excited to be working with communities I love so much, and there is an ongoing conversation in staff of my relationship with the team moving forward too. Thanks for reading!

We've finally got our in-house music bot up and running again, and hopefully better than ever! Here's the rundown:

📌 Join the #stardrop-saloon channel and read the pinned messages for info on how to use it,

🔀 Tracks added to the queue will be mixed up to ensure that everyone's tracks are played in turn!

THE 1.5 UPDATE FOR MOBILE IS OUT ON ANDROID AND IOS!
If you do not have the update yet, be patient! It should be rolling out to you soon. Everyone should have this update over the next few days if they do not yet have it.

The game went through a full rewrite for this update, which is one reason it took such a long time, and it also means there may be some new bugs and issues that crop up for you. Jsut figured out the source of several issues in 1.5 mobile... all having to do with loading an "emergency save" (where you can resume mid-day instead of loading via load menu). this includes a random crash shortly after loading, NPC's in weird locations, horse missing & more

Yesterday's patch that fixed several things including NPC locations & stuck animals, is out on iOS now. Please make sure to update. It might take one night in-game before you notice some of the issues being resolved. Android should also have a fix for the menus not closing.

Our favorite farming game has turned 7 years old today. It's survived kindergarten and is going into 1st grade. They grow up so fast! ConcernedApe must be a really proud game-dad...

No, but really, it's crazy to think how long the game's been out and how this community has grown and developed at its side. It means so, so much to me and the Junimo team. Stardew Valley continues to get the love and attention it deserves even when it's approaching a decade and I am so happy we are in this timeline. There's been a lot of highs and lows over these 7 years, but one thing's for sure: I'm glad this game's been a part of it.

📣 PSA: Spamming to gain server XP 📣
Hello fellow farmers. We have recently noticed a rise in people trying to gain the Cowpoke role to get access to server features like enabled voice chat through spamming.

We would like to remind everyone that spamming for server XP is NOT allowed in the server. If it is determined that you have been spamming for server XP, we will remove the XP gained from the negative engagement activity. This deduction can cost you your role and precious time spent. We will also send you a verbal warning reminding you not to do it again, and proceed with the usual warning system for repeated offence.

To make it clearer, we have a couple examples that we will take action against:

1. Cutting your messages into single or a few words so you can get XP for every message sent
   Original message: Hello everyone! How's your day?
   What is actually sent: Hello, everyone!, How's, your, day?

2. Obvious spamming, regardless of gap between the messages
   Example: Sending the word word over and over every minute passes for the sake of gaining XP

We will not deduct XP on a whim. We will only do it when you obviously spam, and your spam would be noticeable enough to basically everyone.

FAQ
Why do I have to be 18 or older?
As moderators, we sometimes deal with adult content and content unsuitable for people under 18. While you can be a fantastic moderator under 18, we feel it's our responsibility to prevent minors from seeing adult content when we can.

How many mods will be added?
Depends on the applications! Our aim is to get at least a few new staff into the team to fill in the spots open after some of our lovely staff retired over the past months and to cover some channels that may need more regular moderator presence and support.

Is there anything particular you're looking for?
None of this will guarantee you will become a mod, but we're always seeking people in time zones uncommon to the team (particularly opposite of the US), people who will be active in gameplay, off-topic, and/or creative channels, and people who can help us with a lot of back-end things (from serious things like helping people who message Bouncer, to fun things like planning server events). Junimos aren't expected to do everything but you will not be added on the team to handle one task, so you should be open to a variety of moderation.

How will I know when I'm chosen?
A Junimo will reach out to you and let you know, and you'll be given a small document that introduces you to the role and show you a rundown of how we moderate. From there, you'll be able to accept or deny the role, and you'll be added as an Apple Boi (moderator in training) if you accept. If you are not picked this time, we encourage you to try again next time!

Some modders' accounts were compromised on CurseForge, and have added malware to existing Minecraft mods.

As of about four hours ago, there have been reports of accounts of Minecraft modders being compromised, resulting in malware being added to certain mods/mod packs on CurseForge. If you get hit, your computer could eventually become part of a botnet, and you don't want that.

It's currently unknown what the goal of the botnet is, but current theories point towards at least one thing the malware will do is stealing Microsoft account tokens. Always assume it intends to do more.

If you've played modded Minecraft using CurseForge as your mod source recently, or Bukkit as your plugin source for servers, please very carefully read the links at the end of the post, ensure you weren't hit, and take any precautions mentioned within them if you feel comfortable doing so. If you don't, you need to get advice from someone you trust who has the ability to handle computer issues, and give them the information in the links.

If you feel comfortable doing so, you can attempt to nip it in the bud before it has a chance to run -- look for libWebGL64.jar on your system, and delete it. If you find it, I would also recommend a general scan for viruses and malware, because that means you ran one of the affected mods.

I would also advise you delete any of the affected mods/mod packs mentioned in either of the two following links, as those are what drop the libWebGL64.jar file in the first place. Of course, as always, back up your saves before doing anything mod related.

From the write-up, current advice is to consider any download from CurseForge or Bukkit's plugin repository to be potentially malicious, and investigate as noted above.

Another modded Minecraft security issue. Please read this if you play modded Minecraft online.

It's currently understood that only 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 mods/mod packs are affected, and only on servers. If you play single player only, you should be completely unaffected.

We've been made aware of a remote code execution (RCE) exploit in certain mods used in Minecraft 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 mod packs. There are no malicious mods involved here. Simply an exploit that allows someone playing on a server with the host/players using any of these vulnerable mods.

There's a link to the most expansive current list of affected mods at the bottom of this post. Do not assume the list is exhaustive or comprehensive. Also do not assume that simply because the mod is marked as patched it means that the mod has received an update, because that is not the case. This list is for an unofficial patcher, since it's unlikely that all affected mods have or will receive official updates. There are instructions on the mod patcher page.

There's a possibility that there are more mods affected than we currently know about, and that some mods won't receive official updates to fix the issue.

Summary: If you play modded Minecraft online using versions 1.7.10 or 1.12.2, consider yourself at risk of being infected simply by playing on a server. Even if you have applied the unofficial patches to the currently known affected mods does not mean there aren't more that we don't know about.

Hi everyone we're doing some changes to the server so here's an overview of what's happening:

Streaming: Streaming has been allowed in the server for a while but it has been known mainly from word of mouth, so we're officially adding it to #rules. Streaming is allowed in the joja-mart and wizards-tower voice channels, and to avoid the channels getting too crowded we added a brand new voice channel called "ruined-house" after our recent Hat Mouse event

Warning Removal Policy: Removing warnings when we notice that someone has been behaving well for several months is something that we've been doing for a long time, but that wasn't reflected anywhere in the rules. Now we're adding it to the Appeals section of #rules and we're giving the option to regular members of requesting a review of your warning(s) if you feel like you've been well behaved for 6 months

Changing #multiplayer-lfg-old to a forum channel: We've received several different suggestions over the years to make it easier for people to look for players that play on the same platform. We decided to turn #1139016532966506576 into a forum channel, so that by using the Tags, people can easily find players with the same platform, language, or vanilla/modded preference (this one is still a test so we're open to make any needed changes)

The Holly Homies excelled in their cooking, and it's worth highlighting @upper galleon for being the winner of the cooking vote with these adorable stardrop cookies

The Homies also got to work with the shed decoration, and it was pretty hard choosing only one shed to showcase! But we ultimately landed on Lemon Pinky's Detective Agency, by @slow swan

The Igloo Invaders were an underdog at times, but their warrior spirit never gave up, and they gave us some memorable creative pieces!

After the teams had made their team emote/sticker, one igloo invader decided to make their own personified logos for every team! The winter star power is truly real with this one, @zinc prairie!

As a strong symbol for the team, @shut fossil made a mod so you can create your own invasion of igloos in your valley! Everyone has wanted to use igloo furniture at least once in their life, let's admit it https://www.nexusmods.com/stardewvalley/mods/19459

@limber aspen created a song about junimos making an igloo! We are thoroughly impressed by the time and effort you put into this submission, well done!

The snowgoons showed a great variety of skills during the event!
I'm sure more people in the valley will start building snowgoons next winter after this performance

One of their team members, @dry ridge crocheted a perfect goon to represent their team. Look at this adorable little teammate!

The Snowgoon Squad must have enjoyed the snowball fight task a lot, because some of the art featured this part of the event. Look at this submission from @dim wedge, we sure hope the goons won this fight! jk I don't

Lastly, one special snowgoon even turned into a meme because of their amazing guessing powers in 20Q and other guessing games. I made the meme, but all the credit goes to the oracle @bitter sorrel and his psychic guessing ability!

Secret Notes Results

Last but not least, Igloo Invaders were off to a great start with the secret notes, but ultimately they fell short in the end and were the last team to finish the list 3 hours after the fastest team, which was still pretty close

On 3rd place 🥉 Crocus Crew were so close yet so far, completing their list with the sea monster screenshot 1 hour after the fastest team

It really is impressive how close these two teams were for the completion of the list, there was only 30 minutes of difference between 1st and 2nd place!

On 2nd place 🥈 it's Holly Homies! They were the first team to catch the elusive sea monster, but unfortunately a certain monkey slowed them down just enough for........

On 1st place 🥇 it's Snowgoon Squad! Slow and steady wins the race, I guess? They were the team with the least riddles solved before the screenshot reset, but they swiftly turned around their situation and completed the list just quickly enough!

This is the first team event we've organized in over 2 years, and it's the longest one we've had since 2020!! It was a lot of work and preparation, but we hope that you had fun with it, since that is ultimately the most important thing

The Winter Star has been missing for over a month now. Villagers have already searched all over the place and still couldn’t locate it. You, the farmer, have also joined the hunt. The secret notes you found last week did not help. Everyone is beginning to lose hope. The feast is fast approaching. There is no Winter Star this year. The Governor is going to raise taxes next year! Pelican Town is doomed!

You sit on the farmhouse porch, looking into the skies. The moon and the stars are shining so bright tonight. If only you could get up there and steal one for replacement, right? What a wishful thinking.

Then, a red junimo lurking around the corner decides to show itself. You look at it. This little one isn’t shy. It is… looking around, as if it is searching for something. You chuckle. The junimo reminds you so much of yourself — the you over the past four weeks.

The junimo clumsily climbs onto the porch, exploring your home. Ah yes, the very one your grandpa left behind for his special grandchild before his passing. He loved you so much, and you loved him. This farmland is the proof he wanted you nothing but the best life you could ask for. You think of your daily routines as a farmer. Sure, it has been hard, but rewarding much so. Your mind goes to the other villagers, so colorful and so full of different personalities. They make your new life here interesting.

As you mentally count each villager you have met so far, the most peculiar one goes to Mr. Qi without doubt. He likes playing riddles with you, so much so his secret casino is only open to those who indulge in his games. Suddenly, you have a thought, what if this is but a test from him? Maybe he was the one who hid the Winter Star? If Mr. Qi was the culprit who caused all this inconvenience all along, where would he hide it?

You notice the red junimo is no longer on the porch. You look around for it. Where could it possibly go in such a short time with its little legs? Certainly not far! It is only then you catch the glimpse of a sparkly object, just from that little hole on your porch.

You peek into the hole. You find the little red junimo! And you find it holding the missing Winter Star! Huzzah!! You reach for both and safely put the junimo down. The moment this little fella lands, you find yourself surrounded by even more red junimos. You have solved the mystery and they are here to… congratulate you? You can’t tell, but you do know that they all hurriedly scurry away towards the Town Square with the Winter Star.

You follow them. You reach the Town Square and the place has already been decorated for the Feast tomorrow. The only thing missing is the Star at the tip top of the tree. You sigh with relief as you see the junimos pile on top of each other to reach the top. They are trying to help! A little awkward, but they manage to place the Star on the tree. With the Star shining at the top, the tree is perfect. Tomorrow will be perfect. Everyone will be joyous to find out about the safe return of the Winter Star in the morning.

The miracle of the Winter Star will continue.

All is well after all.

Hello farmers~ Discord is attempting to do another sneaky-sneaky in unannounced privacy changes again and we thought you should all know about them.

A new beta feature called "Clips" allows voice chat to be recorded, as in your voice will appear in said clips. You have to dig up the new setting and manually opt-out if that's not something you're comfortable with.

Go to your User Settings and find the Clips tab on the left. Scroll all the way to the bottom where you'll find Allow my voice to be recorded in clips and opt out

Hey everyone! There's been some confusion recently about what happens after a server member has been reported for something, and how we handle moderation issues in general, so we wanted to send a message here to hopefully provide some clarity and transparency.

When you bring forth an issue to our ModMail bot Bouncer regarding another user, the whole staff team is notified and we're able to review the report as a team. We discuss things thoroughly and try to get other staff opinions before any action is taken or replies are sent off, so a delayed response doesn't mean that you're being ignored or that the issue isn't being handled.

We take great care in upholding our privacy policy when it comes to moderation issues. Reports are generally looked into swiftly after they're sent in, but for situations that have already passed in the chat, or for those that require more than an in-chat reminder, we handle them behind-the-scenes. This means that from the outside it may not look like anything's being done, but in reality a lot has. Staff also go back over reports and discussions frequently to ensure nothing's been missed. If you think something truly has been, you can as always message @strange ruin and we'll always take the time to look over your report!

The junimos have noticed a spike in compromised accounts as of late and would like to remind everyone to stay safe online!
Phishing is a far more effective way for scammers to gain access to your accounts than running a machine trying password combinations repeatedly. There is no thing that can be so good to be true.

🗣️ Here are some extra tips for you to keep your accounts safe on the Internet:

1. Do NOT scan QR codes of unknown or sketchy sources. This includes any attempt asking you to "verify" your account by signing in somewhere using a QR code. SCANNING QR CODES BYPASSES 2-FACTOR AUTHENTICATION ON DISCORD and can give scammers direct access to your Discord account!
2. Do NOT download and run programs from sketchy links. This is how malware gets downloaded and how your device gets compromised! Free demo of a game? Try to reverse search it on Google and manually check the game's official Steam page to see if there is any actual demo released officially. Only download executable programs from reputable sources like official websites, Steam, Epic Games, etc.
3. Always exercise caution, even when it's your friend sending you the link! Chances are that their account may have already been compromised.

Hey everyone, we've enabled server onboarding so you should be able to see a section above this channel that says "Server Guide". That's where you can find all relevant information about the server. It should be easier than ever to find this information even if you decide to hide a bunch of channels.

I also just wanted to give a casual reminder that when 1.6 comes out, we'll have a dedicated space for that, so people who are on console and mobile can live a relatively spoiler-free life until the update comes out for them. We will be watching chat as much as we can, but please be sure to report messages that don't belong in proper channels since we want people to experience 1.6 the best they can. Thanks!

The reality is that many mods will break in 1.6, but a good majority of mod authors have been working diligently to prepare updates. Please don't harass mod authors or expect mod updates on release day.

Because of the 1.6 update coming, there is a high volume of activity in the server, so we briefly have to operate differently so the server experience is as smooth as it can be.

Staff have FULL RIGHT to ban you immediately for creepy, gross, rude, and other rule-breaking behavior. They are ALSO cracking down on spam.

If you want to make a gross joke about mayo keep it to yourself. If you want to tell someone to fuck off you're gone. After things calm down we will resume our normal form of moderation.

so we're coming up on our server limit, which means that i must PRUNE. for those who do not know what this is, it is a discord feature that kicks members who
1.) do NOT have a role
2.) have been inactive (account-wise) for 30 or more days

right now these qualifications fit 33,498 members. if you happen to be one of them (hi!), just sending a single message in a channel can give you the villager role, which will allow you to be a lurker for life without being hit by the prune juice beam

we will still likely increase the server limit because holy moly none of us were really prepared for how huge 1.6 would be for the community, but we are required to prune once in a while so discord knows we are trying to keep active folks around

the prune shall be enacted in 24 hours!

Safety Tips
Hi everyone! Lately we've had an increase of new accounts joining with the sole purpose of DM'ing server members to scam them in DMs. It'll start off as either a game scam, where they'll ask you to review/download their game and in the process compromise your accounts, or be an art scam where they have no other online presence and will ask for an urgent payment. These accounts will often send out mass-friend requests too and have no messages in the server, and have random letter usernames. However, sometimes when the compromised account process is a few steps down the line it'll be a friend or known person messaging you with these - please don't trust them until you know their account is secure again.

Additionally, if you see a NSFW server invite in DMs or in another server, or any invite that asks you to scan any sort of QR code, these are also scams and will compromise your account. These are very prevalent on the platform at the moment.

• To report a message on PC: right click the message, click "report message" and fill out what Discord asks.
• On Mobile: hold down the message, scroll to the bottom and click "report".

From there, if they're from this server: take a screenshot of the DM and their username, and send them in to @strange ruin for us to ban them. Stay safe!

Why do I have to be 18 or older?
As moderators, we sometimes deal with adult content and content unsuitable for people under 18. While you can be a fantastic moderator under 18, we feel it's our responsibility to prevent minors from seeing adult content when we can.

How many mods will be added?
Depends on the applications! Our aim is to get at least a few new staff into the team to help cover the periods of time that have less moderator presence.

Is there anything particular you're looking for?
None of this will guarantee you will become a mod, but we're seeking people in Asia/Oceania, and are always looking for people who will be active in gameplay, off-topic, and/or creative channels, and people who can help us with a lot of back-end things (from serious things like helping people who message Bouncer, to fun things like planning server events). Junimos aren't expected to do everything but you will not be added on the team to handle one task, so you should be open to a variety of moderation.

How will I know when I'm chosen?
A Junimo will reach out to you and let you know, and you'll be given a small document that introduces you to the role and shows you a rundown of how we moderate. From there, you'll be able to accept or deny the role, and you'll be added as an Apple Boi (moderator in training) if you accept.

Regarding polls: the Discord overlords has finally given us the ability to place restrictions on posting polls in chat. The rules are as follows:

• Anyone can post polls in #images-and-memes
• People with Farmer role or higher can post polls in #modded-stardew, #making-mods-general, #making-mods-art, #creative-discussion, and #farms-and-outfits
• Polls are disallowed in all other channels
• Polls must follow server rules, as always

This event has been crafted by some of our lovely staff members in the hopes to bring together our wonderful Pixelsmiths and Artisans, and anyone interested in getting started with pixel art, to make art, inspire others to learn, and pass on skills by contributing to a library of quality resources!

We believe that art can be made by anyone at any skill level, and we know it can be intimidating at first to get started! So, we have come up with two tasks for this event to help newbies get started and offer a place for artists to showcase their talents!

There will be winners for these tasks and game prizes handed out to those people at the end of the event. Participants may earn the <@&940307735575162990> role once they have submitted something to either task!

I know that the console and mobile players are eager to play 1.6, and I am doing everything within my power to have the ports ready as soon as possible. The ports require extra work beyond the PC version. There is also another patch for PC underway which is mainly some bug fixes

Hello everyone! The moderation team wants to put out a PSA in regards to mini-modding, as we have seen an increase of this behavior lately and want to make sure everyone is on the same page on what it is and why we want to discourage it.

What is mini-modding?
Mini-modding is when someone who is not a moderator attempts to enforce server rules. This can be for something as small as posting spoiler content in a non-spoiler channel or being off-topic, or it can be for more egregious rule breaks, like posting NSFW content, being rude, or advertising in chat.

Why is it bad?
We discourage mini-modding for several reasons. Firstly, those who engage in this behavior do not know our actual moderating processes and how we handle things behind the scenes, so by attempting to enforce the rules, mini-modders are impeding staff in following through with what we need to do.

Secondly, it can create an atmosphere in which mini-modders are viewed as authority figures by other server members, who will ask for mini-modders to resolve situations rather than going to the staff. This isn't ideal because mini-modders may not always be available to intervene, they may make statements that conflict with the team's moderating policy, and they may make situations more difficult to de-escalate in the event that an actual moderator tries to intervene.

Lastly, mini-modding creates the impression that the team does not do any actual moderating, leaving that to the mini-modders instead. Many server issues and reports are handled outside the public view. We do not disclose moderation actions per our privacy policy. But this does not mean we aren't handling reports or ignoring issues. As staff, we manage issues and reports as a team, often discussing how we want to respond to this or that or even what specific action to take. Please trust that our moderation processes are robust and thorough, and that it can take time for you to see the benefit of the actions we take behind the scenes.

Mini-modding is subjective to the server's [Moderation Policy](#rules message) - repeated offenders will receive verbal reminders to stop, and if the behavior continues, it will lead to warnings and potentially even a ban.

What can you do instead?
Use Bouncer! Even for small things that aren't egregiously rule-breaking, you can send your concerns to us through Bouncer and we will take a look at things. You can either DM him (@strange ruin) to explain a situation, or you can right click a message, then use the Report function, found under "Apps".

If something is particularly urgent (for example, someone is sending violent images or an intense argument is occurring), you can ping <@&239770080378880001> or @strange ruin to notify staff directly.

Instead of attempting to directly enforce server rules, you can remind your fellow server members to check pins for the channel or suggest a more appropriate channel for the conversation.

BE POLITE - telling someone to "delete this" or "you can't post that here" is not okay - that is enforcing rules not reminding of the rules.

Here are a couple examples of things you can say that are okay:

• "That's a spoiler - you should check the pins for what needs to have spoiler marks in this channel."
• "You might have more luck if you ask in #name-channel, this channel is more for ______."

FAQ
Why do I have to be 18 or older?
As moderators, we sometimes deal with adult content and content unsuitable for people under 18. While you can be a fantastic moderator under 18, we feel it's our responsibility to prevent minors from seeing adult content when we can.

How many mods will be added?
Depends on the applications! Our aim is to get at least a few new staff into the team to help cover the periods of time that have less moderator presence.

Is there anything in particular you're looking for?
None of this will guarantee you will become a mod, but we are always looking for people who will be active in gameplay, off-topic, and/or creative channels, and people who can help us with a lot of back-end things (from serious things like helping people who message Bouncer, to fun things like planning server events). Junimos aren't expected to do everything but you will not be added on the team to handle one task, so you should be open to a variety of moderation.

How will I know if I'm chosen?
A Junimo will reach out to you and let you know, and you'll be given a small document that introduces you to the role and shows you a rundown of how we moderate. From there, you'll be able to accept or deny the role, and you'll be added as an Apple Boi (moderator in training) if you accept.

Modding help will now be conducted in a forum format to make the jobs of the tech support volunteers easier—be sure to read the posting guidelines in that channel before making a request for help, and above all, be patient!

We've introduced a new role to help facilitate this new troubleshooting system, <@&1272682295756587058>. People with this role will have access to a special discussion thread in #vanilla-tech-support for complicated issues users have run into that need more brain power to solve than the average issue. They will also have the ability to add to the compilation of posts in #1272348274153619477. Anyone who has a good standing in the server, is Farmer (level 25) or higher, and has been actively helping in either support channel in the last month can message us via @strange ruin to request the role. Server members without the role are still welcome to help people experiencing issues, but having the role will give you some extra perks!

PSA: there is currently an issue, if you start a new farm on the meadowlands farm and open the animal door on the coop day 1, your chickens will disappear. If you leave the door closed for one day, it should save them. We will fix this. Lore: There is a wild coyote on the farm

There will continue to be patches released to fix any lingering issues in Stardew 1.6.9. The next Switch patch should improve performance significantly. I'm also planning to boost foraging xp a bit and adding foraging xp to some more actions. And add basic pants to Sandy's shop.

THE RESULTS ARE IN FOR THE 2024 SPIRIT'S EVE EVENT!

Let's first take a look at some delicious food showcases!

@abstract elbow Baked these adorable pumpkin junimo cake pops based off a recipe from her Vanilla Cooking Recipes mod!

@hollow tusk Made this mouth watering Irish stew, which looks divine and perfect for the autumn season

To wrap up the cooking, @rigid thorn baked these colourful junimo cookies with a stardrop!

Moving on to the writing submissions! Participants had to continue on the story from this prompt:

Odd. The tower's front door is slightly ajar. As you slowly nudge the creaky door open, something skitters across the floor, but you can't quite make out the shape. "Rasmodius?" you call out, as you step fully into the Tower. Suddenly, the door slams shut behind you and the normally mellow cauldron in the corner erupts with a pervasive odor, redolent of fermented apples and burnt yams.```

This amazing story highlight is from @chilly girder!

“The adventurer has finally come, Rasmodius!” The all-too-familiar gruff voice of an older man echoes against the stone walls.
“Looks like you win the bet, Marlon.” The sound of cups clinking together as another uproarious laughter comes across the men.
It was Gil, Marlon, and Rasmodius sitting together in front of the fireplace, mugs in hand, with a soft glow on their faces.
“Come now, no need to be a stranger. We just wanted to invite you to a small gathering of our own before we venture out to gather the entertainment for the festival.”

This year’s ‘trick’ came as an idea from Gil, the note written by Marlon’s hand, and Rasmodius being the bait.
“It was entirely too far-fetched to be reasonably me, Marlon.”
“Ah, but it was good enough to get the farmer to come runnin’ now didn’t it? You’re just upset it worked.”
Laughter came from Gil and Marlon smacking shoulders as they reveled in Rasmodius’ discomfort.
“Don’t be so upset, Rasmodius, we all know you’re the most popular of the ‘old men’! Though I guess Lewis isn’t counted in that.”


The night came to a close with warmed liquor, stories of adventure, and a sword versus magic show. Still, you wonder what that ‘bet’ even entailed between them…```

You stand there, curious and a little repulsed, but something compels you to keep staring at the roiling mixture. You wonder... you wonder if it tastes as bad as it smells. Searching around, you find a ladle of twisted metal and dip it into the horrible concoction. Holding your nose with one hand and the ladle with the other, you tip the mixture into your mouth... and... swallow.

It's not unpleasant.
It tastes like...

"TRICK AND TREAT!!" howls the Wizard, who has just burst out of a hidden closet, cackling with glee.```

And finally, this one is from @thorn pewter!

Remembering the oak table near the door, you stumble towards it to regain your balance. The sturdiness of the oak gives you some respite. “Rasmodius?” you call again. But a different voice answers in the darkness.

“He isn’t here.” 

A figure is sitting across from you. Despite your subsiding vertigo, you can make out their fleece-lined canvas jacket and what seems to be lavender fur sticking out from the hood obscuring their face.

“The letter wasn’t from him. I sent it.”

Their dulcet tone clashes with the unsettling aura they exude. Seeing them inside the room feels wrong. And yet, it’s as if the room has always belonged to them. It wasn’t just the room, but even the tower, the forest, the town. Everything. Your thoughts halt when they speak again.

“This world has run its course. You’ve noticed it haven’t you?” they ask. It sounds crazy, but you begin to remember. The townsfolk, even your spouse, they keep saying the same things. Day after day, year after year. Your kids aren’t even growing up anymore.

“It’s time for a change of scenery,” they announce as they stand. “The sun is waning, but the moon rises in anticipation.”

Before you can protest, a wave of nausea strikes you. The vertigo rises to a crescendo as the figure stretches their hand towards you. Your eyes dim as the room spins, images flashing in your mind as you slowly lose consciousness. Snow-capped mountains. A giant castle. Ghosts. 

You can’t smell the fermented apples and burnt yams anymore.

All you can smell, is chocolate.```

Over time, the concept of ping preferences has become something more pervasive than simply - ping/don't ping, to the point where it is no longer sustainable, as a server. We have close to 250k members. It is unrealistic to expect anyone or everyone to remember any one server member's ping preferences. And as a moderating staff, we are not guardians of the ping. We are not here to manage interpersonal server relationships.

We have no issue with someone putting 'no ping' or "pls don't @" in their username, but if someone doesn't see that or makes an honest mistake, we will not enforce it. It is up to individual server members to manage their ping preferences, including, but not limited to:

• Do not disturb
• Silencing ping notifications server-wide
• Blocking individual users

Let one thing be clear though: If anyone is pinging deliberately, in an aggressive or harassing manner, we will handle according to current server rules, as we would anyone being deliberately trollish or rude. In addition, being rude about not pinging someone is not tolerated, just as any other rude behaviour is not tolerated - both when asking not to be pinged and when reacting to someone asking not to be pinged. We expect everyone to be civil, as we always do.

Hey all, we've got a few changes to the spoiler rules to announce! Now that one month has passed since the 1.6 update has come out for consoles and mobile, we are going to be relaxing our rules regarding 1.6 spoilers going forward.

Firstly, #archived-update-spoilers will be archived and no longer available for users to chat in. Anyone who wishes to freely discuss 1.6 content without having to use spoiler tags (||like this||) can do so in #stardew-spoilers instead. Modding channels will also be "anything goes".

#stardew-valley will also allow discussion of early game 1.6 content, such as books, without any spoiler tags. Things such as the ||Desert Festival|| and ||the raccoon family||, which can be obtained after completing a bundle but before completing the entire community center, can be discussed there as long as spoiler tags are used. Content that is considered "late game", such as things only obtainable after completely finishing the community center or the content locked behind the Cindersap "five ways" door, is still completely blocked in #stardew-valley , with our automod reflecting this.

The same old rules for pre-1.6 content still apply, but with this change we are now incorporating the new 1.6 things into this existing system. If you have comments, questions, or concerns, feel free to message @strange ruin .

New compromised account policy

Hello! Over the years we have made several announcements about account safety, keeping your Discord account secure, and not falling for scams. We've been fairly lenient with regards to allowing people back into the server after being banned for their compromised accounts attempting to spread the scams, but given the drastic increase lately, we find ourselves needing to amend server policy.

The first time is free - after you regain control of your account and confirm you have taken steps to secure it, we will allow you a pass back into the server. After that first pass, any ban resulting from a compromised account will be subject to our [current ban system](#rules message).

We cannot stress enough the importance of securing your account and maintaining its integrity - it's not just about a social media account; it's about financial security and privacy concerns, both for yourself and for others. At the end of the day, you are responsible for your account security.

Important technical note

Please remember that enabling 2FA does not make you immune to account hijacking. Anything that grabs your login token, or convinces you to hand it over via social engineering will 100% bypass any and every protection you can possibly put in place. Be vigilant, and do not become lax because you have 2FA enabled.

Please learn about social engineering and session hijacking (which is what Discord token grabbers do) to better understand how to avoid them.

We'll be updating our scam unban guidance and terminology to reflect this.

Hi everyone! For nearly 8 years now, I have been the owner of the Stardew Valley server. It's been one of the great privileges of my life to help this community grow from just a few thousand members to over a quarter of a million. I will always love and cherish the community here, as well as all of the friends who have helped make this server what it is. I really can't state enough how much that means to me. You all will be in my heart forever. Seriously.

However, I have an announcement to make. Running this server takes a great deal of time and money, and after some difficult decisions, I've come to conclusion that it's no longer feasible for me to do this on my own, so I will no longer be the owner of the Stardew Valley server. I've thought about this for a while and I'm sure this is the decision I want to make. I'll be removing my roles shortly, and though you may see me around, it won't be with my vibrant red or my little void chickie. I'll be back to a normal member, just like when I joined in 2016.

At first, I was baffled... why would Jade (server owner) transfer control over to Joja Corp?
Then, I found the 6 empty cans of Joja Bluu next to her desk, and it all made sense...

Hey everyone, some exciting things have happened! Discord has finally graced us with their new boosting perks, which include server tags and gradient colours for roles. We’ve had these things planned for a long time now and have finally been able to implement them, so let’s check out what’s new!

A level 2000 role

A NEW LEVEL ROLE! I’m sure many thought this day would never come. A new progression to our level system is something that has been requested for over half a decade, and we’ve seen the introduction of gradient roles as the perfect opportunity to implement this. The new role is for people who have reached level 2000 and is called "Local Legend”. The design is based off a Stardrop, which nicely compliments our existing level colour scheme. You’ll see some of our highest levelled members sporting this around the server!

You can check your level with /lvl in ⁠#governors-mansion.

A new, changing, weekly holographic role

Moving on to something that even includes those who haven’t merged with the server itself - a role that’s given to new people weekly! This new holographic role is called "Ol’ Slitherlegs” and is given to the top 10 people on the new weekly section of our leaderboard (accessible by doing /lb). Only 10 members at a time will be sporting this colour, and there is a cooldown meaning the same people who received the role last week won’t be able to earn it again for another 3 weeks following, so there will be a new set of role earners each week.

A SDV server tag

You now have the ability to select a server tag that displays on your profile, as well as next to your username when you chat (ours looks like SDV). You can only do this for 1 server at a time, but if you want to rep the Stardew community you can do so by:

Clicking into your user settings (cog icon) > profiles > scroll until you see ‘server tag’ > select SDV
Or, on mobile, tapping on your avatar on the bottom right > press ‘edit profile’ > scroll until you see ‘server tags’

When people click on your server tag they’ll see a pop-up overview of the community. Just a lil somethin’ for the people who want to show their loyalty to the game

If the new gradient roles look blue/grey on your client, restart your Discord!

We've received a lot of feedback and a lot of people were disappointed that their cosmetic role (Mod Author, Artisan, Jukebox Junkie) overrides their level 2000 role gradient, so we've got something for you guys.

Hello everyone! We have some announcements about the gameplay channels. First of all, the #new-farmers, #seasoned-farmers, and #modded-farmers channels are being **renamed **to #stardew-valley , #stardew-spoilers , and #modded-stardew , respectively. The old channel names could be confusing for players who were in the middle-ground between new and seasoned, and didn't know which channel to use (modded farmers didn't have any particular issues; it's just being changed to match the others). We hope that the new names give a clearer idea of what each channel is for: #stardew-valley is for newish players who prefer avoiding spoilers or players who don't mind having to use spoiler marks, and #stardew-spoilers is for players who don't mind the lack of spoiler marks and are down to talk about any part of the game.

Additionally, we made a few tweaks regarding the content that is and isn't allowed in #stardew-valley . You can refer to this [pinned message](#stardew-valley message) whenever you're unsure if something counts as a spoiler or not, and which channel it can be discussed in.

Howdy folks!

If you use mods, be aware that ModDrop.com seems to be unmoderated currently. Several mods have been reuploaded there without permission (and sometimes without credit), and at least one reupload has been confirmed to contain malware. All reports have gone unanswered and those mods are still up.

We recommend:

• If possible, download mods from a moderated site like Nexus instead.
• When downloading mods from ModDrop, be very cautious. Don't run any script/executable files (e.g. .bat, .exe, .sh, etc.), and be careful installing mods containing .dll files.

The forums have been around since 2020/2021 and maybe you've seen some posts float around here and there, but it's not something we've talked about too much, so I wanted to put it on your radar. It's relatively slow paced compared to places like Discord, but it's got its niche and there are a lot of familiar people there (like me!)

It's a genuinely great source of information and it can be a fun place to chat, so don't be afraid to check it out sometime.

Hello @everyone! Today (February 26th) is a big day because it's Stardew Valley's 10th Anniversary!!! Time really flies... We have a few things planned for the celebrations:

There is a new #archived-stardew-memories channel where you can write any message about the game, what it means to you, or a nice memory you have from the past decade of playing and farming. We'll have this channel around for the next week, so don't feel rushed to share your message (oh, and you can also go to #event-discussion to talk about all the celebrations)

Secondly, we'll enable double XP for a couple of days, so it will be a great time to chat and gain extra levels

And finally, we'll be hosting TWO stage events. In the first one, we'll all be reacting together to the retrospective video where the two new marriage candidates will be announced, which will air on <t:1772132400:f>. And a few hours after that, we'll watch together the Stardew Valley Symphony of Seasons 10th Anniversary Concert, which will be premiering live on <t:1772157600:f>. To celebrate, here's a look at the last decade of Stardew Valley modding.

Unfortunately it's time to say goodbye to most of the voice channels.

The Discord server has grown beyond our wildest expectations, since it was created over ten years ago to discuss a little upcoming game. The server will continue growing and changing just as Stardew Valley does; some of these changes might shake things up, but it's important for the community to keep moving forward.

With the server approaching 300,000 members (and many more expected with the upcoming Stardew Valley 1.6.16 and 1.7 updates), unfortunately moderating voice channels is becoming unsustainable. Voice chats have always been very hard to moderate no matter the amount of staff, and it will only get harder as time goes on.

For the safety of all of our members and to keep the community healthy, we are removing most voice channels and the ability to use them freely in the Stardew Valley server. Voice channels are important for a lot of us, but there's just no way to moderate them in a reasonable way without sacrificing the privacy of our server members (e.g. using bots that infringe on our own rules or Discord's TOS). We just have to face the reality that this server is too big for healthy, well-moderated voice chats.

There are two exceptions:

• #stardrop-saloon (the Jukebox channel), since it has no voice permissions.
• A voice channel that will be usable only during events hosted by staff (like game nights planned in ⁠#stardrop-arcade), since those are always actively moderated.

We understand that it's a big change, but safety is a big concern and we can't adequately monitor voice chats anymore. We've already considered alternatives (like level and verification requirements, an opt-in role, etc), but feedback is always welcome if you have ideas on what to improve going forward (e.g. maybe more staff-moderated voice events?).

We're Updating Our AI Policy

Posting AI-generated content has been banned since the introduction of [our AI-generated content policy](#bulletin-board message) last year. This part of our policy is not changing. However, per that same policy, we still allowed people to discuss generative AI so long as it remained civil and respectful. That part of the policy is being changed. Since the introduction of our AI-generated content policy, we have seen a lot of discussions about generative AI. While some of them did remain civil and respectful, a lot of them hadn't.

Conversations surrounding generative AI have often quickly gotten out of control and heated, especially if not everyone involved in the conversation is on the same page regarding generative AI and its use. Even in conversations where everyone is on the same page, it usually still dominates the channel, often where AI doesn't really fit the definition of on-topic for that channel anyway, and leads to a generally unpleasant atmosphere until people move on. Many of these conversations also tend to repeat the same points as previous conversations, with nothing new being added to the discussion.

For these reasons, from now on we will be treating extended or in-depth conversations about generative AI as controversial content under Rule #4, meaning that while brief mentions of generative AI are fine, starting and/or continuing conversations solely about it are not, except in #programmers-off-topic as it is the only place in this server where such discussion are actually germane to the channel. Discussions are still expected to remain polite and follow our other rules in that channel, and the exception only applies to discussion, not the posting of AI-generated content. However, if we find that conversations still get out of hand, we may remove this exception in the future.

As well, we want to give a couple reminders. Firstly, our policy against posting AI-generated content does not differentiate based on what the content is; jokes, memes, and other non-serious content are also subject to this rule and will be deleted, so please keep this in mind. However, we do understand that a lot of times, such content comes from things like Discord's built in gif search and breaking this rule wasn't intentional. We want to assure you that you won't get in trouble in those cases, so please don't take it personally if we respond or delete them when we notice, and maybe try to take a closer look at what you're posting before you post it.

Secondly, we want to remind you that people who do use generative AI are still people. Whether you disagree with their stance or not, insulting them or negatively targeting them in any way is not acceptable and will lead to moderator action if you're found to be doing so. This applies to people in this server or otherwise, whether for AI art, writing, mods, or anything else. Regardless of our stance on AI-generated content, this server is meant to be a lighthearted community first and foremost, and we will not allow directed hate or bullying to get in the way of that.

Hello guys, after a lot of careful consideration, we decided to stop being a Stardew Valley server. The game is, frankly, long past its prime, and there is barely anyone who still plays it nowadays (only the 14th Steam game with the most concurrent players? Pfft it fell off). Because of this, we decided to dedicate the server to the actual best thing created by ConcernedApe. No, not Haunted Chocolatier, it hasn't even come out yet, you silly... Of course we're talking about Wumbus World! We know everyone here loves Wumbus as much as we do, so it was about time that we gave him the spotlight he deserves.

In case you somehow don't know what this is about and have been living under a rock, Wumbus World is a comic series created by ConcernedApe back in 2011.
