This "CNS" is a group dedicated to break us free from the clutches of technology and regain our freedom.

So it wouldn't be too far off if CNS was just a figment made up by the AI, something that would scare MultiCo and everyone else who wants to keep using technology for the sake of money

The term meatspace/info about the CNS hacking/the acronym CNS itself/the fact The Finals itself is apparently a sentient AI seemingly built by MultiCo/and so on gives off an off-putting feeling and heavy Black Mirror/dystopia-esque vibes.

All speculation but it makes me wonder whether the Scotty and June we hear from are still or were ever real people, same with the announcer. Same with what kind of state of the real world must be in, considering pretty much everyone seems to abandon it in favor of the virtual one.

CNS feels like possibly the “freedom fighters” trying to break through this mega corporate veiled truth to the players? Kind of like a parallel to the Matrix and trying to snap people out of the fake world/reveal the truth of everything going on?

Whether or not they act independently for someone else's gain is unclear but they are seen in a trailer with an organized 3 man team with orange and green color schemes that are available in the shop at the moment as separate outfit components.

Im not sure if the "oddness" is intentional, though a lot of voice AI technology is still pretty new, even AI trained on a specific content creator/streamer voice sound a bit odd, like a early version of Siri, like its more "reading a script" and interpreting personality, than acting/playing a character with emotion, so it wont be able to get all the differences in human speech that make it sound less "odd" - although I do think they have changed how the AI delivers the lines to show character growth with the evolving story

Virtual reality is where most people spend their time, and THE FINALS allows them to join as contestants to play in hyper-realistic arenas and fight for fame, money, and the favor of generous seasonal Sponsors. Both THE FINALS and the showrunners appear to be overseen by MultiCo, a company with origins dating back to the 1980s.

Recently, THE FINALS was hacked by a rogue group known as CNS, who claimed they were taking back what was theirs and changed the game by adding new items, maps and modes. Although their existence was acknowledged by MultiCo and THE FINALS commentators, Scotty and June, CNS true motivations are still unknown.

After the CNS take-over, the showrunners brought in cybersecurity experts VAIIYA, to stabilize the game show. During their shutdown attempt, it was revealed that THE FINALS is a sentient AI program capable of defending itself. Under this threat, THE FINALS AI deployed countermeasures that rebooted the system into a different time and era in the 1500s.

I would not consider "taking back what was ours" being a central part of the story revealed so far considering the fact that it is not mentioned in any of the vignettes or trailers or any ingame media or anything that CNS did since they started hacking the trailers

I had a dream there was a 4-team 4-man race game mode in the finals, the maps were modified to lead into each other with portals like the light's gateway equipment because the event was some "CNS HACKED THE FINALS WE'VE LOST CONTROL" and it basically smashed all the current game modes. You started off playing Quick Cash but it was cash out tourney rules so you could combine cashouts but after the cash out instead of getting your money as score it exploded as coins and you had to deposit them on your teams own moving platform which would only move so far as you got coins, so each level could be cleared when 30k coins were deposited on the platform, and you had to sit on the platform for like the normal Power Shift time to deposit them, players also dropped typical cash when killed and if your team was wiped, no matter how much money you had, your platform would stop moving until you respawned but it would keep the cash. The platforms were all next to each other too so it was absolutely pandemonium. After 30k you would go through a gateway to the next map and had to complete the whole circuit for two maps back to back to win the game mode. If you got to a new area first your progress would slow because you didn't have the cash flow from dead enemies so the others inevitably caught up.

There was a new event where your equipment got "corrupted" and one random slot of your equipment would be swapped with a /hacked/ item that was exclusive to another class, like light getting an RPG or heavy getting a sonar grenade launcher in place of the thermal bore. Someone was using a flamethrower that spewed gas instead and there was a medium using a healing beam that damaged enemies only. Anyways peace ✌️
