Hard to say .. once they have compiled the feedback after the current test and sorted out what is changeable and when .. the next test invite window might follow sometime after then .. so maybe next quarter But it is all based on their timescale/schedule

Oh I figured they were busy with all the data they had collected from the last test as well as everything that they wanted to implement.

mayhap, but there's usually some sort of downtime between test runs .. Pre-Alpha officially finished September and Alpha officially started February. That's a 5 month gap between phases. Where Amelia said there will be tests throughout this year I am guessing that Alpha will be split up into smaller test groups with smaller gaps in between but enough for them to apply changes and do any additional hardware work and internal testing before inviting a new group of people in to offer their feedback to the game at that time.

I would love to be an active participant that actually helps with constructive feedback, which in turn could help with bringing their visions to reality.
I've been part of beta's that the developers were very interested in player/tester feedback and other beta's that were just tests runs of the system, equivalent to a stress test. Only thing I find hard in some beta's are how much of the game changes as they navigate they're thoughts and designs out in code. The biggest disappointment in Beta's for games was Landmark originally a Sony game which was eventually sold off to Daybreak game. Loved what seemed to be ground breaking game design, and player involvement but it slowly fell apart with the sale as the new company wanted to go into a different direction.

Yeah that is usually the case with any company handover - hopefully won't be an issue with Palia. Things may change but hopefully along the route they have planned for the game.

They're trying their best to be low spec able, but its hard to say what the true lowest limit is.

You may be able to run it even on a bad PC, we're shooting for a low min spec. That said PC isn't the end goal```

But bear in mind low specs compared to today's hardware may still be high for some people with really old hardware. I mean I would class an I3 as pretty low spec as there are I9 processors out there. Hopefully they will give us a ball park range based on current information 🤞

ok, thanks, but they actually broadcasted the notification to everyone on discord, not just people with the alpha tester role. I'm guessing they created the channel without fixing the role permissions. (I don't have an NDA, so I'm not prohibited to talk about information that was leaked to me [apparently from official sources])

Wow, no snow here but we have had our fair share of rain on and off lately and it's been quite chilly. Lows at night have been down in the teens with days maxing out in the upper 40's at best on the fahrenheit scale.

But that time frame is a good estimate based on a devs answer when the question has been asked in the past. A party of four, a tanker, archer and two supporters.

Tanker is busy keeping the aggro of a bear. But then he's is going low of HP.
So he need to tell the healer to cure him.
Doing an emote could distract him from keeping the shield up...

ig in that case you would be right, what many game have is quick interactions in which your character wouldn’t need to move, imagine how in Apex you can ping the ground with different markers well in that case the Tank could simply show an icon meaning it needs heal, I can’t remember what game exactly had smth like this.

My whole idea is that instead of focusing on moving speech TO non speech communication instead let the game have enough Visual cues as to for Sound to be almost irrelevant

Also text to speech isn’t completely reliable, not just bc it isn’t perfect but also because, I for example i’m not a native english speaker so my accent isn’t the greatest, Text to speech would work even worse for people like me.

If there were automatic subtitles in games that do have voice chat I'd keep them on all the time.
People be sitting on their mics all the time (judging from audio quality) 😉

In general I think a slow paced game like I imagine Palia to be might be fine with text chat and you can auto-police it slightly better.
Looking at you blasting-crapmetal-through-your-mic-while-sitting-on-it GTA folks 😬

Still, I've seen games were people used in-game voice chat to do stuff like sing together or tell stories around the camp fire, so it's not all tactical evaluation or the opportunity to promote your favorite band through the power of bad audio quality 😉

Ideally, text to speech would just create subtitles on the bottom of the screen or something like that, no need for pressing any buttons for the talking folks.

And sure, it's never perfect, but listening to someone mumbling into their couch doesn't produce perfect understanding eather, nor does the oftentimes questionable grammar and spelling in text chat.
We'll manage ☺️
