I've been trying to make Chapaa Masala but the game keeps screwing up during the frying stage. It puts me in an endless loop of the flip mini-game until the timer runs out. Is there any workaround for this bug? It's not just the Chapaa Masala that's doing it.

I get the same problem when trying to do the cooking for "Your Order is Served" and it's a pain to get enough Muujin to keep trying and failing.

i have always been able to get it to work by trying again without exiting out / going back in
just hold down, let go on circle, if it still is circling without completing, hold down, let go on circle again

The flipping one, yes. But not Chapaa Masala or the one from Your Order Is Served (I think it uses Muujin).

Steak dinner (or something) does the same mini-game and it screws up about half the time and works the other half.

if its physically stuck at the oven, you can open home plot menu and close it to be free
(left stick press in on switch, H key on pc)
or you can use /unstuck but that shifts your location

using star quality ingredients increases your chances at star quality but it's rng based! how fast you cook things, cooking skill level and accuracy during the mini games (chopping, flipping, etc) also all increase your chance of getting star quality but never guarantee it!

You can. I only know of two trees like this tho. This on the screenshot and then another one in Kilima. Both loots can be picked if you climb the cliff next to them and then jump/glide for the look that is usually somewhere floating in the leaves.

I personally always try to stay on one station (normally starting with cutting, then mixing station and don’t forget to pay attention to the stove or oven if u need to mix or bake smth) do everything there and move to another. You can see on the stations above what u miss and where it’s done

It's like you're not needed for the dish at all. You just chop or mix an ingredient but it will not be used because there is already enough. It's still count as you cooking with the others.

If the icon is red you probably need another one. Eventually you need 2 of every station. If a recipe starts at one station and has to be prepped at the same one then you need two of the same stations

You need to fish along the coast in bahari bay not in the ponds or rivers. And use normal worms as bait. If you've been doing that already you just need a bit more luck.

if you're place has a lot of items it's hard for the switch version to handle.

if that's the case, you can put some cooking stuff on a blank lot to have cooking go smoother

you by default have at least 2 lots (some get 3 for some reason)

it depends on the recipe tbh. there are some recipes where your friend won't need to have anything because they will be able to put items in the oven to cook for example. however, most recipes it is typically best to divide ingredients between yourself and your friend based on the stations used. so for example, one friend can bring all the stove items and the other could bring all the prep station items

an annoying bug. if the game is still going and you can't move, you can try to go to the overhead view of the plot and then quickly getting out of it and it will sometimes allow you to continue cooking with no problems. if the game is fully frozen, you just have to restart and come back to ruined food

Actually, the patch notes were edited feb 2nd - it only says this now in regards to soy sauce The ingredient Soy Sauce has also been added, and can be purchased at Delaila’s stall at the Maji Market.

No mention of Zeki's at all in the patch notes

Anyone's got tips or tricks on how to find or pinpoint where the flow tree groves could spawn? I've been told in server chat to follow where the bell rings but it only rings once and it is hard to pinpoint the direction of where it comes from exactly, especially when it could be far from where you currently are on the map.

for me i just check where ive seen it spawn most times in order of most ive seen to least ive seen lol
the 2 cliffs by the entrance to flooded fortress
flooded steps
north of statue garden around those cliffs
outskirts has a spot
if not there it's likely top cliff of pavel mines

and then if not there then it's inside flooded fortress which I've only seen a handful of times

i usually stand near the centre of north bahari, that way you'll be able to hear any of the spawns in north bahari. if i didn't hear it at all, i'll run to central stables, teleport to beachcomber cove and then proceed to check the south bahari spawn points in turn. i do see it at windy quite frequently, especially if nobody in chat can find the grove

is there a reason you want to get there first rather than just wait for others to call it out? rare/epic bug hunt?

Whyyyyyyy does the cooking system allow you to start a recipe if you don't have all the ingredients?! I just wasted so many resources on a recipe that was 1 item short from being able to complete the cook. It's SO HARD to tell what you're supposed to do next with this current UI.

Cooking is easily my least favorite thing to do in this game. Usually cooking is my favorite in all other games I've ever played - but this one is a bummer.

I do think the tutorial could stand to be clearer about what happens with more advanced recipes, though. It really threw me the first time I made blueberry pie, and the default first action at the mixing station is making the berry mix, which you can't do until you've used that station to grind the sweet leaf

I also ruined something, I forget what, when it told me I had the necessary bok choy (and everything else) and then the first action was chopping carrots, of which I had zero unstarred.

That was what finally made me realize the list of actions at the station include all possible options and I can pick and choose for some recipes.

If I begin a recipe where I have some of the items as regular ingredients and some of the items are only available as starred ingredients - if I select "used star ingredients" will the cooking system automatically use what's available if I don't have starred ingredients for certain parts of the recipe but do for others? experience for cooking - i know that each food is a certain amount of experience (creamy tomato soup for example is 120 experience) and if i understand it right with the focus bar full with 100% boost that experience goes up to 240 points. is it just for the one time cooking or do you get that experience per the 3 that comes in the set (so do you just get a flat 240 for the task or is it 240 x 3 for each one you receive)?

I have been reading around trying to learn more about what affects the chances of a cooked dish turning out starred, but most of what I've been finding has been word of mouth or speculation based on feeling. I KNOW that what with all the organized cooking parties folks do, some science-minded soul is likely to have collected some actual observational data, but heck if I can find it. I figured if anybody would know where that's been posted, it would be y'all. :)

Specifically, I'm lookng for theorycrafting/data about whether "starting a recipe with a full focus bar" affects star chance. I'll take any info, though, it's all interesting!

it's completely RNG but certain things increase your chances of getting a starred dish but never guaranteed

using star quality ingredients, how fast you cook things, and accuracy during the mini games (chopping, flipping, etc) all increase your chance of getting star quality

Focus points change on certain star receipts say you take longer you going to get 1 less dish and the focus will be lower.

it's a matter of how you define Easy. like are you willing to buy ingredients or want something you've farmed. spicy stir fry is one of the higher value dishes aside from cake that doesn't require dari cloves, but if you're good at finding heat root oysters awkimbo?? whatever is good

but yeah cooking parties is probably the fastest but I've never done any and I'm at lvl 38

You sign up as a role, it’s what u will do the amount of times the party is for. You do ur role one time every round. E.g. you sign up as a leafer for a 50x cake party. Every round u do ur sweet leaf once and it will go on 50 times. You can find the parties here: #1143270926394335282 . But pay attention to your region, as cross regions are bugged now, so if u e.g. live in NA, u can only come to ppl who are NA as well, unless u use vpn

What's so bad about eating pickled potatoes for focus?

nothing, but as I cook now and the food has not much value, I rather eat than sell it, use pickled corn/potatoes in normal worm farms and jam in glow worm farms.

From an economical viewpoint cooking in Palia is nonsensical, that is just for fun and skill gain.

At least with those recipes I have.

It is likely just really profitable in cooking parties.

And there as well not, because these meals would be balanced, but due to the fact, that each participant gets the dish, which multiplies the result in relation to used ingredients.

For now I cook, because it's something new to do for me and I'm enjoying it, but as a solo chef, it doesn't really make sense.

It is a little sad, that it is basically a group activity, if meant to be profitable. I'm not very likely to take part in one, I'll certainly don't make the same role 50 times in a row, I am a human being,not a machine.

But as a hobby, it's cute, I create 2 dishes to go and be used, when I'm out and about. That's ok, but industrial production, no way, that would feel like work.

My favorite is steak dinner (225 focus/337 starred, https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Steak_Dinner). It has four ingredients, only requires one produce item (wheat), is very doable solo if you follow the steps on the wiki (though cheaper/easier if cooked with others) and gives a good amount of focus relative to the opportunity costs of the materials. It does require butter, but most garden produce, once processed, sells for more than the butter costs to buy. If you're in a pinch, all of the ingredients except the wheat are sold at Zeki's. (Badruu's farm stand sells the wheat, but he wants an arm and a leg 😂)

For characters whose max focus is not above ~650 yet, I'd personally just stick with whatever 100 focus one-chop, one-stir soup suits your playstyle/resources. They're less efficient by the numbers, but imo if you're overflowing your focus bar trying to fill it, that's not cost-effective, either. (I prefer to use food that fits neatly into a not-yet-empty focus bar so I'm not waiting to refuel and chancing forgetting about it/losing focus bonus on that last chunk of EXP I didn't have enough focus for)

Of the basic soups, Palian Onion Soup (https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Palian_Onion_Soup) is one of the cheapest and simplest; Fish Stew (https://palia.wiki.gg/wiki/Fish_Stew) is even cheaper, but of course requires fishing, though I also really like the fishing buff it gives. Just make sure you use the no-bait common fish that all have the same sell price so it stacks neatly. :)

i like the cream of tomato soup, 275/412 focus with tomato, onion, wheat, milk and spice sprouts all of which can be either grown on a crop or bought from stores

tomato soup covers you pretty well until maybe you get 1000 focus bar and feel like it isn't enough
I swapped to petit fives which are also easy to make and it's been fantastic with my larger focus bar
