You can get the prize wheel coins by spending your lucky envelopes around the stalls. The amount rewarded to you is based on RNG, I believe.

Right at spawn time (3am) is good to roam about and clear out any of the basic bugs so that the Duskwing has a chance to spawn. It only ever spawns 1-2 at a time. Rarely 2 at a time, but I have seen it a couple of times. Usually only 1 will be in the area. Often people will run by and spook them without realizing it. Honey Lure is also a good bet if you get a group of people to help you take out the basic bugs that spawn during the short event.

You're also welcome to visit #🐞│hunting-insects channel too! Most folks like to share their tips and tricks in that channel. :D

They're likely referring to the Temple of the Gales, which doesn't have to be initiated at all right away. You can play and level up your skills, advance your friendship levels with NPCs, etc. at your leisure.

Eventually you'll figure out which ones come easy and can be sold to zero and which ones actually need saving, but there's no point in having huge stock on hand.

It looks like you got about a minute to accept it before it expires, and it should show up at the top, glowing a different color from the rest.

You'll also see a notification pop up on the screen like the ones when you pick up items, telling you that you got the party invite, but that doesn't have a way to join it. Its through the social menu.
