Landowners can form fiefdoms (guilds) and they conscript the "tower defense" players to fight over contested lands in Illuvium. Guilds who control/win those lands get it locked for a period of hours and get bonuses to their land production until its contested again and up for battle to all

So different contested lands provide different bonuses. Some to faster build time, some more production of X resource, higher percentage for blueprints etc.
