For a second I thought imma have to factory reset my whole phone for that update. I usually delete like 4 apps for the updates, but that recent one almost made me lose my mind

Ik this is late 😭 but this isn't sky's fault. It's bug from Google play store. Basically you need go to settings then apps then look for Google play store then click on the 3 dots in the top right corner then Uninstall update (or smth)

Yesyes! I sent my issue through the "contact us" formula and later on created a customer support ticket for more chances of getting a reply!

I hope those steps I did are correct in order to have a chance of a response, I've never done these things.

@median sonnet please don't discuss or encourage the use of APKs. Downloading illegitimate copies of the game is against the Terms of Service and could contain malware. Trying to use APKs will result in download problems and may result in account data loss and inability to contact TGC support. APKs cannot be used to bypass the device incompatibility.

what i did is basically turned off "Turn on optimization" in the developer options and sky played like normal again

if ur on xiaomi pad this toggle should already be there but for redmi pad users or if its not there, just click "Reset to default values" multiple times and it should pop up

Turn off the toggle and the three dots above should disappear and sky plays like normal again

It depends a lot on Dev's possibilities, as sometimes they may be dealing with a lot of reports/emails from players for many different issues. And it does takes several days for them to respond, 4-7 days can be expected. It also may depend when they will have enough information about your case to provide an answer.

I feel like TGC doesn't realise (or doesn't care-) that some of us don't have a lot of free time in our hands so we could play the game on other available devices

Tbf that's not TGCs problem if users don't have enough free time. If you were affected by the crash and didn't receive compensation, then contact support. But just to be clear: if I was a game developer, I also just wouldn't hand out compensation for things that could have been prevented or if there's a workaround. So I get the point of TGC that they don't hand out compensation if you were able to acces your sky account.

That's the thing. You were theoretically able to login into your account, which means you could've gotten the sc for example. I agree with you that it's not fair to make this decision since as stated, not everyone has the same access to other platforms as with their Android device. the major problem with trying to only target players who "should" get compensation is that there will always be cases that aren't so black and white. you just can't narrow it down like that without leaving people out who by all means have very compelling reasons for not being able to log on, even if they theoretically have access to another platform

so, for a game that encourages patience, empathy, and understanding, their decision here seems to run counter to those ideals, and I can very much understand why many people are unsatisfied with it

Iirc even if your usual Google play kinda pops up on the title screen, you still have to manually go to settings to actually fully link it

If anything, they can make sure they're signing in with the correct Gmail or Google play/games account

Unfortunately there won't be a solution. The reason is android fragmentation: android devices have too many twisted and turned screen resolutions and not as flexible graphics drivers as iOS.
The solution would be if all android manufacturers in the world use screen resolution standards and won't deviate from them.

But some high end android phones are about on the right spot and have almost as good graphics as iOS.

Yes, but you'll have to link your PSN account on mobile before opening the game on Playstation.
To do that, open the game, go to Settings > Account > PlayStation Network > Log into your PSN account > Confirm link > Open the game on Playstation

It's a mistake. It happened to me with the fragments when the darkness burned. I finished doing it and when I wanted to sit down I didn't see the button. It fixed when I restarted the app and had a floor object (lamp). Before fixing it I couldn't sit down to continue my journey or turn in daily quests.

If it was an Apple ID then you need to link it on any Apple Device that has your account open, you just need to go to ⚙️>Account ☑️ > Any other account service as long as you have both in your iOS device and in your Android device. (Reminder that Google Account and Sony PSN links are Permanent and cannot be unlinked) if your account was with GameCenter then you need to log in to your account in any iOS device you have access to in the device Settings>GameCenter>log-off> Log-in with another account. Hey! It may be worth reporting as a bug, but aside from that, if you used any sort of transfer software that automatically downloaded Sky when setting up your new phone, you may want to try clearing the cache for its app or reinstalling it again.

If you didn't use transfer software (downloaded from play store directly), and clearing the cache or reinstalling doesn't help, it's worth a report to hopefully get you back in the game!

Close all apps or any background apps, put battery saver mode on and run a optimization app (your phone usually has a default one), I also recommend turning your phone off, let it full charge and cool for a few hours before using it again

Adding to Eros's awesome advices, there are some additional things you can do

• if your phone case is made out of metal, that's normal and that is where the heat is dissipated. If it would not happen, the phone would fry itself. Metal is very good for leading that internal heat outside. Don't worry much about heat because all phones have internal temperature sensor and will throttle performance to cool down when it actually gets hot. Hot phones can be inconvenient to play with though.
• apart from changing Sky graphics settings (no.1 recommended against heat) and closing background apps here's something more you can also do: remove protective case because that insulates heat, do not charge phone while playing (this advice is very effective), use it on moderate brightness (second best advice: because screen is one of the biggest energy consumer), and lastly make sure the area you're playing at has enough ventilation and no direct sunlight on the device. Additional optimizer apps won't affect phone heat unless you had very little space left in phone storage. Some phones less likely to get hot, some others more likely.
  Important: never put the phone into freezer or ice, it can damage the device.

Since last update, the Google play store asks for 8.5GB of space to update the game. It's still the same right now for this new update. Are y'all still experiencing this too?

Usually Sky needs the double of its size to update properly (often times 6GB, in this case 8) plus your system always needing 1-2GB of free storage to work properly, the size needed for the updates is due to 'Delta Updates' ~~(just an fancy name to mean that the game duplicates and then deletes from your device to apply the update, therefore it needs more storage to hold the temporary copy) ~~ here's a message explaining it by Uzephi #beta-discussion message (It's an beta channel, beware of possible spoilers ) iirc as an workaround you can delete your game making sure you have your account linked to an Account Service and saving your Sky ID Always! and installing it again from PlayStore, that way you will skip the 'Delta Update' process and there will be no need to have more than the 3GB needed for the game (also remember that the size in the PlayStore is not exact since once the game is downloaded it decompresses some files and ends up taking more space, the download is around 1.75GB≈ And ends up in 2.75GB≈ after the first launch)

Usually Sky needs the double of its size to update properly (often times 6GB, in this case 8) plus your system always needing 1-2GB of free storage to work properly, the size needed for the updates is due to 'Delta Updates' *(just an fancy name to mean that the game duplicates and then deletes from your device to apply the update, therefore it needs more storage to hold the temporary copy) * here's a message explaining it by Uzephi #beta-discussion message (It's an beta channel, beware of possible spoilers ) iirc as an workaround you can delete your game making sure you have your account linked to an Account Service and saving your Sky ID Always! and installing it again from PlayStore, that way you will skip the 'Delta Update' process and there will be no need to have more than the 3GB needed for the game (also remember that the size in the PlayStore is not exact since once the game is downloaded it decompresses some files and ends up taking more space, the download is around 1.75GB≈ And ends up in 2.75GB≈ after the first launch)

I don't think all is lost though. Did Sky work before on this phone? If yes try to recall each even insignificant things you did on your phone between when it worked and when it stopped working. Maybe it was an automatic software update by your phone.
Try to check basic troubleshooting like clearing Sky cache, connecting- unplugging headphones, Bluetooth, and even consider a phone soft reset, even a hard reset (note: the latter deletes everything so backup everything from it)

I hope you'll eventually find the way to get back to your account!

This response should get pinned. It's the first time I've witnessed helpful advice for this specific problem. I would note that google play didn't immediately recognize I no longer needed 8.5 gigs of free space. So I ended up clearing my cache for google play... very thoroughly (force stop the app, disable/reenable google play, phone off and on). Probably overkill, but it worked!

To be able to recover your lost account through a friend, that person would have to have been friends with your lost account and you would have to have contact with them outside of the game. You would contact support and they would ask your friend questions. That's as far as I know on the matter.

Usually the ideal fix would be if there were less android fragmentation: less twisted and turned ROMs, standard graphics resolutions by manufacturers, which unfortunately won't happen.
Higher end or well optimized devices are just on the spot and can have good graphics

No, you only really need to restart once but if multiple people sent you hearts and if you keep accepting light then u need to restart. What i do is i accept every light i see first so that once i restart, ill be able to see and accept every heart with no fail. You’ll be able to send hearts without an issue however, just the receiving part is slightly more challenging
