What is the Community Shepherd Program? Can I become a Shepherd or Mod?
Community Shepherds and Moderators are Sky players and community members who have generously volunteered their time and effort around the server in various ways. They greet new members, answer questions, direct folks to appropriate channels, communicate with Community Elders (Moderators) and thatgamecompany Community Devs, and generally bring positivity and inclusion to the space. Shepherds and Community Elders (Mods) help keep the server running smoothly and help us stay in touch with the community as a whole.
These roles are given by TGC to members of the community who distinguish themselves with kindness and maturity. It is a sign of the trust and friendship we feel for the entire community, and reflects the values we see as most helpful in the game, the community, and the world at large.
The Shepherd role is not a sign of status or rank, and is not something to be earned by extending extra effort or keeping score. But more importantly, even though we can't assign the role to all members, all members have the qualities and the potential to share and model kindness and empathy in every part of their daily lives. Bring light to everyone no matter where you go, and we can make the whole world brighter!
Due to the nature of these roles, we don’t accept unsolicited nominations or requests to join—thatgamecompany will periodically reach out to community members to invite them to apply.
What is the Community Constellation Program?
Community Constellation is a small program still in development and run by TGC to help offer some support and recognition for unofficial, player-run communities and projects. We think it’s important to acknowledge that, while TGC can offer certain official spaces for Sky kids to gather and stay up-to-date on the latest news, there are all sorts of wonderful, unofficial spaces where players find camaraderie, game information, and a sense of home. Whether it's a regional Discord server where you can speak your native language, infographics to help you complete quests in Sky, or the ever-useful Sky wiki pages, there are so many great communities and resources out there! We look forward to sharing more as this program grows.
