I wanna point out, in the final completed mural, it shows how either the skid or the prince (we are the imprints of prince in some stories but its not certain yet) came to be:
First ppl are sent into trials on flying boats into the sky. (Yes it does sounds like death to but it's probably not...yet). Whoever completed the trials will descended to orbit (mural shows Vault/Eden/orbit in the last scene). Basically they died, also the mural of them (gold kid) picking up/standing next to the end of each trial proves that the ones that are laying down are most likely dead.
And if you have ever do research in sacrificial events before (no Im not a psychopath plz ;-; ) this is very similar to one, if you strip away the magical parts of it. People are chosen to be "worthy". They go up against trials. The most worthy of all will descend to the upper life form: aka sacrifice

My theory:
Power diamond brings destruction in the center of the kingdom of the past(Disney castle)
The destruction spreads not only destroying, but touching creatures and turning them into dark creatures.
The beam brings instability to the sky and the elders fall, (I think that the king is dead, but not sure), the first elder could control the winds in isle, the second could bring the light back to some light creatures, the third could stop the the constant rain at the forest, the twins could light the sky literally home run fire in the sky stopping the freezing darkness that had at valley, the next was the one that faced the dark creatures that covered most part of the golden wasteland, (by the way I think that a Krill made the fall of the forgotten ark), and the vault was where the power diamond was created and this elder controlled the earth and made that things float, the elders were unable to reach the power diamond in Eden and fix it and with time they became old enough to elder be a name, then we have the child of the prophecy, a small light born like the elders were, that fell from the sky and was found by the "come" spirit (see updated memory), this kid could pass through the four trials, so they thought that it could stop the power diamond.
The elders go with the kid through the Eden, but everyone "kinda dies", but this species doesn't die properly, they turned into statues for a time, just like the kid, eventually they go all the way post Eden and come back, but without the elders, everyone died while they were statues, for any reason, they decide to take the lights there in the sky to also try crossing the Eden, but no success and some of this kids didn't returned from statues by themselves, until a long time doing it again and again, someone discovered that you can force them to come back and these are the statues, and this process continues till now
