Having shown up after this debacle, I still agree with everyone else’s sentiments. Whether it was done knowingly or on accident, it sounds like Star leaked a major amount of, if not all of the beta-only content of the upcoming Season. Which iirc, violates a rule of the server and beta NDAs. Not even bothering to stop to ask first if it was alright to do so was incredibly careless.

I hope you don’t mind the extended ping, but quite a few of us have been talking to each other about our worries of how once TTE begins being streamed in-game, this chat will be flooded with screnshots and Two Embers content no matter what. Some of us just want to express and explore our love for the Lore while still getting to watch each episode of Two Embers at our own pace.
We’ve brainstormed ideas to give y’all—
(Make a separate chat for Two Embers spoilers, more noticeably accessible than this one, move us to a less noticeable Lore chat for the 2nd half of the year, etc)
But in reality I know that no matter what we do, people will still miraculously find their way to us to discuss things we explicitly express we would not like to discuss in our strange little niche corner. So I know that whatever ends up happening will be the best you can manage with what you have to manage.

Thank you for talking to us, and hearing this. I know Lorechat has had really horrible relations with moderation in the past, from what I’ve read of this place’s archives, but I know we can get through this strange new time if we all, both mods and users, take the time to communicate. People can very easily, and likely will, end up leaking information that isn’t meant to be fully available yet, and whether or not those leaks are done with malicious intent, they are still occurring, and steps should be taken to prepare and account for this.

That being said, what needs to be done is remove the spoilers part of this channel. I think it refers to eden spoilers, which is a bit redundants especially with the massive and consequential beta spoilers and leaks that don't belong here.

I did not manage to get an entire channel, since the server owner figures that the Two Embers hype won’t last such an absurdly long time that a permanent channel would be necessary, but as far as I can tell, it seems like I have managed to negotiate for a thread of our own, at the very least. Which should help to keep all our discussions in one place so it’ll be easier to transpose any important thoughts over to lorechat once the 2 Embers hype has simmered down.

It’s an invite-only server though, so we may need to do some finangling with personal DMs in order to safely and privately get the invites to lorechat members who want to come and take shelter in the server.

(Just in case: PLEASE don’t bean this, mods. This doesn’t count as advertising external servers, surely?
I’m just trying to work out a Plan B to help any lorechat folks who still want to discuss the lore without having to navigate the stress and chaos of this channel turning into genchat 2.0 once 2 Embers starts releasing episodes.)

No idea if this has been discussed before but what if the “Wasteland Temple” we visit in game was not the true Wasteland Temple? The spot that we see the first krill is an exact replica of the Forest Temple just destroyed and is literally called the Broken Temple. So maybe in a last defense for Eden the Wasteland Elder had to flee his own temple and create a new one where we see in game so that even if he dies he can forever protect Eden and his king?

Forets temple was turned into a factory. Once the resources (theres was huge darkstone ore vein in forest caves) and location were not enough, wasteland (golden valley plains) was chosen to be industrial zone for being much closer to the eden and having better terrain. Broken temple building looking almost the same is because they simply copied the design, i wouldnt even be surprised if it was Teth (forest elder) who designed it

Going with the concept arts and murals, Alef/Resh/Prince/King/Chosen One has been portrayed as winged light in all murals prior to him becoming the king. It has been long time theory (and also evidence as it lines up with couple of spirit memories and murals) that the winged lights we collect are either part of Resh or his memories and we are part of him as well.

The sentence could also have different meaning. It doesnt directly say he GAVE BIRTH, it says he sacrificed himself TO BIRTH which could be seen as he erased himself (and potentionally returned to light as it is highly likely he was first child of light as I mentioned up here) to give space and opportunity to new generation

The symbol of the Ruler’s mask/insignia hanging upside down over the diamond as the Shattering kills the other Elders is really powerful as a symbol, but it’s not something we can confidently assert anything with. The final Shattering memory is an art piece, to be interpreted by each individual consumer of the art as they each personally, emotionally, see it. maybe all neutral creatures just calcify after they die and turn into dust over time (this comes back to my theory of what exactly is the sand/dust in vault, wasteland and isle and that it could be just... you know... dead people) and the darkstone shenanigans resh was doing just sped it up

Both seemingly (as a hypothesis) were able to keep the balance of light and darkness.

And seeing both of them missing in the game (if not in a form we recognise), it is possible that their absence may be related to the darkness spreading and becoming corrupted.

It often relies of environmental storytelling.

If you want a good starting point for lore exploration, search around for the murals such as the Treasure Reef murals and the Prophecy Cave murals.
The artbook is also a good resource for lore (though some may be outdated due to the nature of concept art)

A lot of art shown in the gallery is not from the artbook. The gallery also intends to paint a very different message than the artbook. As someone who first ate up every detail about Skyfest’s art gallery, and then later bought the art book, I personally would not treat the gallery as some sort of demo of what lies in store for your 120usd artbook

The artbook is still beautiful and amazing though; very finely crafted and well-thought out in both writing and format 🕯️

The lore is meant to be very unclear and unspecific, so that people can have their own interpretations and try to discover the 'Truth' for themself!
Archiving from a completely observational, completely unbiased perspective is near impossible, because to ask for the Lore community is to get all of the unfiltered, opinionated, agenda-based directives of individuals who are all very different from each other! And it can be frustrating, but I've come to find it as something so beautiful. It's important to let those resources stay where they are; it shows how expansive the lore community's efforts have become!

When people ask about specific topics or questions though, there will always be someone who has an answer, even if it's only their answer/interpretation.

i think what happened here is that, Resh has been evil most of the time, but he had a change of heart right before the end of the world
finally acknowledging his mistakes and trying to rectify it, only to realize it is too late
so, he sacrificed himself, giving his own light to the world, so that the new generation will live on
(thus, the theory that all the winged lights we collect, used to belonged to resh!)

This old phrasing that comes along with that concept picture Tristan is referencing is a wording that is functionally outdated in modern Lore terminology for a few reasons, one of them being that “children of light” was never confirmed to be only about skykids. Within the mythological sense of the sky world, and especially if Ancestors were called to participate in the Cycle; Ancestors come from Light just as well as us Descendants do.

Much to think about. Let’s embrace the uncertainty of the situation; there are no absolutes for us to guarantee, but that doesn’t have to be such a scary thing. 🕯️

While re-exploring the Hidden Forest art gallery yesterday (I went through it during the 5th Anniversary), I noticed something I hadn't before.
It was talking about the attributes of each Elder and what they are supposed to represent. And when it came to the "Ruler," their attribute was "Sacrifice." And a separate art piece had a caption mentioning how the Ruler's sacrifice led to the next generation of Sky Children.
I just thought it was interesting because I had the impression that Resh was a villainous character, or that their actions (whether they had good intentions or not) led to the destruction of the Ancestors' entire civilization. So I'm wondering if there will be some kind of redemption, or if I actually had the wrong impression.

Many people who drop in with their “oot messages” as Luca puts it weren’t looking to commit the energy into adopting a single thing. Nevertheless, in the end it’s up to us to know how to manage our own worlds. I wanna imagine this was a collaborative effort between idk, the Flight crew and the Lightseekers (specifically crab whisperer) to help lead Light Creatures who would otherwise be incredibly skittish around Ancestors to safe places. Like, Chimesmith provides the bells, Light Whisperer and Crab Whisperer train the crabs to both get used to wearing bell hats and how to guide Light Creatures, and then they release the little buddies into the area where the Light Creatures are and let them work their musical magic.

Heres the "rain page" from the concept art book. Even before this, King rebirth theory was ultra popular and ALSO HAPPENED TO BE MY FAVVVVVORITE I LOVE REDEMPTION AND VILLAINS LETS GOOOOO!!!!! basically says exact same thing as recent art show.

I tried to remember if any of the recent arts were NOT in the art book, and I think the one with two skids, one on the wall that has little symbols on it, and the other speaking a similar little glyph, was NOT in the artbook. Seems like an early communication idea, also even more heavily based on journey.

Secondly and while this is extremely important to anyone moving with the intention of understanding *why* Sky is, it tends to not be important to people only asking *what* observations they can visibly make sky characters lacking features on their bare faces serve aesthetic function, and in the end aesthetic is the #1 justification that TGC uses to create any and all of their designs in Sky.

All of this to say; your confidence is missing the bigger picture when you forwardly assert things like “they visibly have no mouth” with a tone of “you should know this already”. Perhaps you don’t mean it that way, but that is how it often reads. As someone who is also personally invested in them not having mouths as a worldbuilding design and not just an aesthetic design as I said; this isn’t about taking sides. There doesn’t have to be a war. Nobody is right because there is no definitive answer, and that’s just Sky lore. 🕯️

I'm not invested in glass existing one way or another, but it seems like the one instance we truly don't know about is mirrors. Sure they could be like polished obsidian or something. Crystal, I understand you were confused and wanted to ask questions about what that thing was, and asking questions is a great thing, but we’ve been having an onslaught of people posting beta-only content here specifically because of people assuming, like you did, that the spoilers part of this channel’s name means it’s totally okay to leak information that should stay in the beta channels. I’m not frustrated with you. This is just an unfortunate consequence of the channel’s name being what it is. Two Embers is THE biggest loredrop we’ve ever gotten for Sky, even surpassing Season of AURORA’s relevations. It’s no wonder people are excited, and unfortunately, lorechat’s name is leading to confusion amongst curious people who aren’t aware that we’re still considered part of the “live game” channels, and not the beta channels.

Not a light creature, but krill have similar eyes, but on the top half of their head. I have pictures in here from around the time the Shattering group returned.

The eel models are very interesting to me. I considered for a while that they may have been the light creature that turned into krill

Also, as for other light creatures with more than one eye, crabs might count.

It is possible. I remember the first time I saw the leviathan's head up close I also had a lightbulb moment of "it's an eel!"

I think if you replaced "skykids" with "light creatures", the theory would make much more sense. Having animals be sacrificed to power a society is a great reflection of real-world environmental messaging. But child sacrifice is more than a bit goofy

I'm thinking about this for a while. And while your theory could be technically true in the Sky world, it's not that sound in terms of the narrative.

The fundamental theme of the old Sky kingdom seems to be the duality between the two embers. Light vs Dark, Connection vs Isolation, Hope vs Greed, Dawn vs Dusk. Both of them were responsible for the kingdom in different ways, and their status as Skykids showed how their connection to the light can be used and abused.

It would be like if there was an 8th realm, just beyond the ocean or something. It would be technically possible within the lore, but it wouldn't be satisfying in the narrative of the game.

Actually yeah, he is the only light creature so far with more than one eye. Also King Krill is the only dark creature with more than one eye 👀👀

Fun fact. That eel like creature was once massive and supposedly intended to be in multiple realms.
Possibly where we see the whales now a days in the game that apparently replaced them.

How I got to this conclusion was from old light awaits gameplay footage of this creature hiding in the clouds and doing a similar barrel roll animation as the whales today. And in concept art showing them supposedly foreshadowing the Eden encounter with dark creatures.

There is also a possible connection to them and the krill.
Again based on speculation on their multiple limbs, long body, multiple eyes (yes, krill have multiple eyes), and concept art overlap.

If found confirmed.
These may be a rare encounter / teaser to the uncorrupted version of the dark dragons.
Ergo, a possible light dragon.

Furthermore, the massive dark creature found in the same season area as this creature is first (re)introduced is considered to be a Leviathan.
Which is also a possible connection to the word dragon

This is at least 3 layers down the Sky lore rabbit hole in my late night digs while researching the game.

The abyss massive creature is very leviathan-esque I will say. The thing about sky creatures is most, if not, all of them can soar and swim to some capacity and have been shown to be around for ages (ex: the krill and manatees in two embers trailer/teasers).

I'm glad you brought up the eel creature being used in old gameplay footage, gives it a new light on it for sure. I will say though I'm kinda glad they didn't make it like the whale creatures though by having it roam around, nothing against it but it just has that sort of vibe it fits innto the abyss area more is all i mean.
