Hi, I'm not from beta but does anyone know if in the new revamped collosuem with the blue and red flags at the end of the race, is the light collecting thing in that mini ice rink still happening. In live before tgc changed the end of race to the ice rink u would straightaway go into the cutscene and get the candle but now u have to collect shards of light at the end of the race ,does anyone knowing that is still happening in the recent Colosseum in beta. Hope u understand and thanks if u can help

@fair night yes but you don't actually have to collect those in live at all, if you wanted to you can just wait for the timer to run out. the only thing that matters is you collecting 1 fragment in the race itself,not at the stadium

They still get much needed data, especially for the daily light system. Getting statistics of how much people candle run compared to live. Honestly, I see a bunch of players in realms just collecting SC and not trying out the new system is what upsets me.

Edit: when doing my full CR, just seeing unlit people beeline to the seasonal candles and heading home after collecting the SC light.

The point of the new candle system is to make it viable to spend a few minutes and still earn a few candles. So we’re still testing that. When I do my seasonals, I also gather enough to get my 5 regular candles since it’s less grueling than the old system.

beta is not the Live game. there is no reason to grind up currencies in excess. We at TGC have no expectation for players to do this. This is why we warn y'all over and over and over and over again that items and currencies in beta are subject to be removed. Do not get attached to things. This is to protect you as much as it is to set healthy expectations from all the wonderful people who volunteer their time to help test. the amount of ground that can be covered, especially niche situations, from a pile of beta testers in one day's worth of testing would take our very tiny QA team a week or more. This is not because they are bad at their job, we have amazing QA.

For the sake of example purposes, lets say we have 1000 testers and 10 QA:
An hour from each of 1000 testers in one day is very roughly equivalent something like a week and half week's worth of testing time. QA analysts are professionals and they have different priorities when it comes to their testing vs what we ask of players. QA is a lot more that just playing games and trying to break them. Having them focus on the technical side and players focusing on the experience side is a beautiful cooperative arrangement to ensure things work well and feel fun as well.

The above example is extremely reductive, but hopefully paints a small picture of what is going on behind the scenes on top of what beta players experience.

For economy pacing and testing purposes, yes we may wipe all the legitimately earned candles in the future. Legitimately obtained things can still have a negative impact on testing. I cannot repeat this enough: do not get attached to items and currency acquired in beta

We are in beta. Everything can be early or late, and everything can be pushed ahead or pulled back. Nevertheless, even after it looks "polished" in beta, it may still change once it rolls to live. Additionally, countdown timers are often wrong.

There will be more and more seasonal maps in the future. If there is no upper limit for daily candles, it will be very tiring for people who run the whole map to collect candles. I think I am not going to do it. So if there is an upper limit on the daily candles, it's good!

True! Bigger maps and more options on where to look for candles is a big plus. This way, we don't have to go through all maps to get 20 candles per day anymore. We could potentially reach out "quota" by running in 3 maps, and we can interchange them day by day! Hence, we will no longer feel the repetitiveness, hence, less boring and grind-y feelings!

When I began playing Sky, the amount of daily candles I get never exceeded 16 candles. Now I get 20 per day and it took 9 months for that to happen. I was happy with 16. I am happier with 20. I don't see myself complaining if I do get more. But just a reminder to everyone, too much of a good thing might be bad in the end... so be careful what you wish for.

Making something IAP over in game currency as standard for how treasured an item is or will be is a slippery slope. I am quite, quite happy about the recent moved TGC has made to offer quite special items for in game currency. Shelling out cash isn't gonna make me like an item more, perfect example is the snowflake cape and Santa cape. Though I did buy the snowflake, I much prefer the Santa. And as needs to be reiterated, some players simply do not have the means to buy items in a game with real life currency. I feel it important to acknowledge that we all have different views and levels of privilege concerning money, and we must take f2p folks into consideration.

Zero chevron is absolutely too much effort. I doubt we can reach the hard cap atm, we got tiny amount of wax even at our last spot, but if you enjoy trials (we started there) the first 3 brings you down to 2 chevron so it’s a nice addition to get the ‘fast’ candles there.
