no one is able to know, because time in beta is never right, it's just placeholders

if something in beta says "Available in 7 days", it probably won't be, and if does, it's probably not gonna work

everything they add into beta comes with the update itself, not when some sort of timer ends

the only exception is sometimes specific changes come only with the server reset the day after the update

Quick check—we've adjusted wind+jumping in Eye of Eden, and fixed a few sheltered areas that rocks could still hit you through. How have those been working for folks?

shelters are massively improved! wind still likes to throw me around as a chibi, but I got over the two wider gaps in the first section of eden fairly quick - it's always hit and miss though, it was like playing air hockey

I just realised they didn't appear in the log when you click the candles after I've been off and back on beta and then I went into aviary to see the spirits ! at me but they wouldn't give me the quests so I visited the shrines and they're gone there too

not a beta tester but can anyone say if you still get constantly knocked over/stunlocked like this in the silent update, because it fundamentally sours the purpose of changing crawling mechanics if it becomes even harder to progress forward in the ending sections

You get slow-mo knocked down still and it can still trap you laying there and getting up slowly after, but I didn't experience it to the same level Sof did

I just don't feel our suffering needs to be so cinematic but they wanna make eden evocative

Those are both older builds (especially the video from Jan. 31), and the changes we've made since then should address that. It would be better to rely on the current build, released on Friday Feb. 2nd. to get a sense of what the current updates are like

I just did eden and after the final lamp the wind was knocking me down while I was only walking which made moving very slow. I think it's good eden is a little more challenging though because it's a cake walk in live rn with 200+ wl ETA: I also like being able to jump in the orbit area while capeless/wingless

Frantic Stagehand recently appeared as part of a special/group visit during testing (specifically, during a new, mini camping event). We do not know if they are For Sure confirmed to come to Live, because things are always subject to change in beta, or when to expect them. For those kinda details, we have to wait until an official announcement is made by TGC, so keep an eye on their social media and in the #news channel

^^ The boulders next to torches now protect you fully from falling rocks in pnr as opposed to the hit detection being iffy
the falling & get up animation that makes you immobile and vulnerable to consecutive damage is still present on critical hits, when you’re hit with a low WL count, and occasionally when you get blown over by wind anywhere past the last torch

Not looking forward to testing Eden again with the reports about the injured walking making you stay still but I’m happy the shelter is improved. I always thought some shelters were bad on purpose so if you were scared to go forward at the end eventually you’d lose your wings anyway

It's not really improved that much because the camera zooms the heck into your skid when you walk under and it disorients your trajectory
It also blocks the view of the red beam

I've sent like two messages of max length essays to feedback but my main takeaway was that the period after you lose light is the absolute worst and incredibly annoying whereas the last 10 WL where you're stuck in crawl and very slowly lose your WL is actually the part that's significantly better and that's just
like why should the final part feel better than the in between when it's so much worse

like if you went to eden during the first change, it was the last part over the dune for the last 3 statues that was nonstop fall get up fall get up but that was only tolerable because you got up fairly quickly
now it's like intermittent falling over and the get up animation is pretty slow and it feels a whole lot like stubbing your toe on every cabinet on the way out

it feels like they've scaled PNR to 200 WL players which part of me is like
like why is the reward the same if you just made pnr harder....

I have noticed if it disappears from your menu the quests still register for me and can be collected after. It’s just hard to remember the list. Spirits sometimes don’t give the candles but shrines still do.

just to preface the 3 times I went:

1. 187 went with friends, I was literally on the extreme last WL that was getting smacked out of me I barely managed to send it, it was so sketchy, got all statues
2. 187 with less peeps (or solo don't remember), had 7 left which was a good balance, got all statues
3. 185 didn't make it to last statue, got everything else

go to #beta-faq message and get the role (it adds beta invites to you) and you'll be pinged when they open
it's not really a matter of how long it takes to verify than it is how long it takes for them to open, in which none of the testers know this

1. The spirit boat is back at home today and the sign says the shop will open in 2 days. Does that mean an event could be in 2 days or does it open and close randomly?
2. I got a heart at the home shrine today but there was no message explaining why it was there. I thought hearts from messages say someone liked your message or some text indicating the heart’s source (it has been a long time since this happened to me so maybe it changed)
3. I am also experiencing the thing where even though I put brightness at 0 it still looks the same as max brightness to me. Do I have to do anything to make the lower brightness setting activate or is it a bug?

I named you music cat and I noticed although the colors in sky have become more desaturated since last build, the bright things like wax and sunlight are still very bright and changing the setting does not do much about it.

pere and I have been messing with the HDR settings and the consensus is like
the lower your brightness, the more gaussian blur things get and it is terrible to look at
but the higher it is, the more [definition] objects get, like WL for example with low setting have a gaussian blur edge, but on a higher setting you can more clearly see the edge of the WL kid silhouette rather than it being blurred out

this is something you gotta look at the game from your screen to tell because it is impossible for me to take a photo of it 😔

gaussian blur isn't a sky term, it's a filter effect in photo editing programs. Basically it's just making a thing a lot more blurry

I prefer crawling from the moment we reach the continuous rock rain, or maybe juuust before the hill.

I really like the walking towards the shrines / statues while being extinguished, that makes it easier but I just find it more annoying to be knocked down so often.

I personally don't have an opinion yet as I haven't gone but from what I seen in the videos it seems like they can just remove the struggling to get up animation altogether until you hit 20 winged light and then begin crawling at 10.

I think I'll submit my feedback. I am not liking what I'm seeing that much. I hope they'll consider my suggestion, but I know many others will have differing opinions and that's fine.

well crawling rn is correlated to WL you have left, you only start crawling when you have 10 or less remaining from what I've seen, then lose WL much more slowly

I would much rather be slow and crawling and be able to move nonstop than be knocked down every 3 seconds after I stand up, that part is beyond frustrating

Yes, being knocked down every few seconds is quite annoying to me too. I’m just stuck in place, losing WL until I can start crawling basically (and I personally don’t think Eden is supposed to be like that? I’m not sure, just my preference )

tbh I look at it like how the current live eden it punishes you if you try to jump while in crawl state, it pauses you on the spot

Yeah, I do the complete opposite sometimes though and I've noticed it's a buggy jump if you crawl and spam the jump button a lot. I have an example here in #eden-spoilers message if you want to see.

i think it makes it super frustrating if you are a high wing light player because you probably get to continuous rain with quite a lot of wing lights left, so they get knocked out of you pretty fast and a bunch at a time, so you spend a lot of time annoyingly knocked over, lots of "ching! ching! ching!" going on, and then not being able to see where you're going

in live I noticed that I personally do better if I go to eden with 160-170 wl and do worse when I have 200+ 😭
and yeah the constant wl slashing sound would be so frustrating

Yeah, looking back at that video I linked in #eden-spoilers in my last message I can see there is a clear as day difference with the bloom of the yellow particle hits on my Sky kid compared to what I've seen now in other beta videos of Eden shared here. That should really be turned down, but I think also agree having a high amount of winged lights entering the final stretch should not be punished so much. Especially if you're wearing an Elder mask, I've noticed those things need a buff. Just a couple more hits honestly would make me happy if that were the buff. I've been going to Eden and doing shards a lot more actively in Live and I am over here now hoping they add the rest of the Elder masks. I'm getting halfway to 100 ascended candles now.

the thing I like is the knockback distance from crabs is less the more expensive the mask is, so doing stuff like crab whisperer relive you can just keep going without getting kicked around as much and it's smooth sailing

if you turn hdr brightness all the way up, it makes it sharper, and therefore maybe less bloomy glowy, and so weirdly less bright actually

I feel like no matter what I do to the sliders the foggy look stays. It really makes me sad. I wish there was a way to work on bloom without removing color and contrast. It's really noticable in vault how much contrast is lost.

Maybe it'll improve more or something. Just super dislike the changes because it makes everything feel dull and fogged to me.

I'm not all that well versed in graphics settings but I do wonder why there isn't a way to deal with bloom without fiddling with saturation specifically, plus the changes have added more bloom on my device than there was before (or it's more noticeable because everything is washed out) and the brightness slider doesn't really do anything other than crispy mega bloom when on and blurred mega bloom when off

In some places the desaturation gives a nice effect but in other places mostly it just looks dusty and eh imo

it's just, we know that there's a way to turn off bloom (feast goggles), so why can't we have that as an actual slider/toggle in the graphics settings? 😔

Feast goggles only work in certain places though
I feel like it has to do with daylight because it does absolutely nothing (or at least barely minimal) change to bloom in dark places like vault
It's the most effective in hidden forest

yeah aviary 2 season coming already is surprising to me. Really wonder if the cosmetics we get for it will be similar to revival season... I feel an ult prop might be in order since they said stuff about giving us a home in the news announcement (and decorating it would probably be a big part).

I'm hopeful it'll be good though. 9 color deer cosmetics were definitely good for me even if I take issue with the ears still not matching the mask and some other color choices. Other items like for love, fortune, and bloom also have been peak. Really been appreciating their cosmetics they've been designing and how they choose to visually revamp events! Lots of details.

Finally did another Eden run. Didn’t seem too much different on the hike up the mountain. Maybe the wind is less at the very top before the wl cave? My kid wanted to do some diving in the cave water :/ that’s still annoyingly happening in unwanted spots. Once past PNR it seemed like rocks in the first part did more damage. Took like 1/2 my light with one shot. Poofed out a couple times. That’s not normal for me in the first part, even when I get hit. The constant rain part is a mixed bag. I soooo like that we don’t crawl anymore till 10wl left but it seems like when you get rock smashed that the animation sometimes freezes you up and slows you down too much. The rock formation at the last lamp is ok but it really does a number on the camera when you go thru it. I went in with 130 wl and didn’t make it to the sand. That seems like worse than usual but I maybe just had a bad run. Definitely quicker than in live with all the crawling. Still wish our kid could limp a lil faster to the hug boi. All in all still better than live but will take some more testing to be sure.

It's not mentioned in #beta-known-issues , sadly, but a lot of Android Beta testers are also experiencing this bug right now. There is no true fix, but you can try sending an invite from iOS or PC instead if you have access to Beta on those platforms.

We just have to wait for an actual fix for the bug to arrive - if you haven't already, be sure to submit a bug report! It'll help provide information to the devs that can help them solve it faster

The prompt was a little vague for the aviary memories one, it’s a friendly gesture and I took it to mean a greeting or encouragement so do you say it in text? It is a lot of loud honking noises right when you join from the people giving a greeting. A lot of time the message doesn’t translate so I can’t tell what the person has said. think one focused on music would be very nice though, like share your favorite tune. I would sit and let it auto play people doing music.

I know it's not to everyone's tastes, but I enjoy it when characters get redemption arcs, so I found it to be a sweet twist to the original story.

No matter how awful their previous actions, people have the capability to change and make the decision to do good. It doesn't undo the harm they previously caused, of course, but the idea that people can reflect upon their actions and understand when they've done wrong, and then deliberately make the effort to do better going forward.... It's a hopeful and comforting message, I find.

Like the way I see it, the gatherer in the sky version genuinely didn't know what would happen if the deer was caught (they weren't really portrayed to be the greedy type here) and just wanted extra money to get by
Difference being that in their memory, they didn't have their goods stolen and instead was chasing after their customer to return the goods they were owed

Iirc in the original we didn't see what happened to the king or princess afterward either so having them own up to their wrongs and vow to do better is a better storyline ending

The quests seem to be solo, i meditated for that quest with another player at the same time and was alone when ready. The yellow wifi icon did appear, that could have spilt us.

I actually dont use my phone at max brightness ! Also desaturation isn't the same as darkness of the screen, desaturation makes the colours more greyed out, brightness of the screen just affects how strong the light comes off the phone screen, as far as i know it has no effect on the colours
I just prefer the colours to not be as colourful, like i do not like neon colours for example while some people do, its just preference you cant exactly understand it unless you like it yourself and that's okay if u don't

Right now I can go to that area without the cape (no glitch) and still see the deer at certain times. The cape teleports you directly and the deer also shows up at certain times but the deer color is a slightly different more shiny and vivid color than seeing it without the cape.

And to be honest, as someone who missed out on the TLP season, I do wish I was able to teleport to the Asteroid area.

On another note, the deer seems to do a “performance”; it makes sense to me that this performance is ‘timed’ in a way but I would love it too if we could just hang out and sit down with the deer when it’s not running around the area with the creatures

That way we’re able to see the deer even during “off times”.

I wouldn't even care if they had a public version for asteroid belt too. I just want a place to go to be alone or alone with friends and not have strangers join. The rock rain feels so much more brutal/punishing at the start, yeah. Usually I can take ~2 hits running between safe spots without losing all my light, but with the new changes, a single hit instantly extinguishes you And with all the slow-mo shots for getting hit, it's become so much more frustrating - I'd rather have the crawling back.

And that was my experience with ~160 WLs; I can only imagine how much more frustrating it would be for a lower wing player

well, i am not sure if there's an additional change but there was the change when i last ran it where you got knocked down in slow motion, and then got knocked down to crawling at I think 10wl left. now it seems like you don't get knocked down as much so that the end part when you're just running to light statues is not as bad, but you lose light really fast at the start when it's supposed to be easy

because I don't know if they will alter the central aviary or build a new location in an area close to the center, I believe this is the case for them to bring in a new season
to rebuild the aviary completely but the reconstruction will only be the locations missing a new area on the side.

I also regularly go to Eden live. Well, the patch is coming out soon (probably they'll update Eden in next live patch?..)and I'm just about to go there. I'll see how I can progress with 210+ WL. (and elder mask >->)

eh the elder masks we have already increase protection and if you're running around with 200+ and any of the current masks you're probably already experiencing just enough of a challenge but it's still possible to get all statues, but other masks coming would be nice too

I think as well you're used to live running cause you do it so often, but with the changes in beta it'll just take a bit more running to get the hang of the scaling

The key for making alive longer in eden is torch and friends, but even that there's friends, it's still make you lose more wl.

the sanctuary one is pretty easy tbh
most annoying to solo is gramma cuz it gets real sketchy if you don't pay attention
like the depth perception of the floating rocks are hard to gauge

yeti is also hard to solo because they're far apart and you don't have enough time to run to the clouds to recharge and back sometimes

sanctuary is extremely doable if you spend the time to lure the crabs away first
the only thing that will kill you inside deeply is mantanapping

Apparently my main beta has 219 stars (short) and alt stood with 184 (tall). Eden both doable until the last statue. Both got Elder masks, but my run was doing them solo and not the white candle boosts.

I got knocked out often. I still got 30-ish when my main Sky beta reached the end of the statue. What annoys me is that if I walk to statue 57-63, it’s like there’s some invisible wall that won’t allow me to move further, and the rocks are hitting you like crazy. However since we can jump, it helps me to reach the 63rd statue quicker. Thank god there’s no more crawls for now or I would bury some krills with my bare hands.

It’s so convenient that it sends multiple stars to multiple statues in one click… I wonder if that has been there in a previous build?

And wow I probably missed this one but if you’re on the “new experience group” (if you only see TS in Aviary), Elder Shield Masks now will be automatically recharged when you entered orbit, as it has an elder cutscene. It’s so great
