Depends on how big the servers are for fest tech still, if we can join friends properly and the servers aren't stupendous amounts of cones everywhere then I'd enjoy it fine, but it's a visual overwhelm that's the main issue

i’d say no even if we had small fest tech servers with perfect joining ability, the cones are so bright and look so unnatural against the valley lobby. there are specific places where they work, one being aurora coliseum, but you can’t just pop a bunch of things that look like low poly discarded pieces of plastic in a pretty environment and go with it, it takes away from the environment to me. If they all matched in like, uniform colours say red, white, yellow for fortune it would work for me a bit better, even if they still look plasticky!!! but all the random bright colours just don’t work at all :( even when there’s smaller servers, a small number of random green, magenta, blue, red, etc cones floating around makes them look like weirdly coloured plastic bags floating in the wind, i’d at least like some colour coordination to them

compared to this, Passage ghosts look much cooler, and you don't get to spend too much time on those quests

I'm conflicted on it... I can enjoy the tech, but only if it fits the occasion best. In all honesty, with all the frustration I had with it, the Passage seasonal quests and the Days of Color event at least gave it more functionality other than just background noise, visually and audio-wise. And like a lot of folks said, having the option from Days of Bloom and it having the purpose of opting into the experience instead of it being forced made it bearable.

Otherwise, the majority of the other cases outside of the AURORA concerts, it feels kind of useless and in the way, and I kind of wish it wasn't just put in events just for the sake of being there.

I was thinking about why I'm not a fan of dof being in valley social space and realised something I hadn't brought up before. Valley is in constant DAYLIGHT and fortune as an emphasis on fireworks and spectacle. Something that was enhanced when homespace was in night mode. Why do we have an event that has a firework focus in daylight?

Honorable mention goes to rainbow since they at least implemented it into the core mechanics of the event

In order for festival tech to work it needs to

1. Fit into the context of the scenario
2. Have a reason to be used
3. Optional (players can opt in or out at any time)
4. Optional 2( is not required)
5. Needs to be unique from the other times it is used. Either in added mechanics or in appearance

I think for the aurora concerts it felt really special, I think for the finale they've wanted to recreate that special feeling since we all worked hard to revive aviary, but for yearly events it's been hit and miss.

It made sense during days of sky because we were celebrating the anniversary of sky together, but during days of colour it kinda frustrated me, I felt like cones got in the way there. During last year's bloom (what is time?) when we had butterflies instead of cones that was a nice change and felt fitting in the world of sky rather than sticking out like a sore thumb.

I think for fortune I understand why they're wanting fest tech again, it's a celebration after all, but I can agree that it feels at this point overused and with it being cones once again it does feel like it sticks out especially within valley where it's so bright and crisp and you wouldn't expect cones to just appear there except for during the concerts.

It's definitely something that makes me wonder how they can balance wanting to use fest tech often without it becoming tired and looking tacky.

Passage and Colour are the worse implementations of it. So many splits and crashes because of the large crowd during Passage, and it made quests annoying. The rainbow bridge in Colour was constantly buggy, the requirement for several people per colour meant issues where people had to wait ages.

Only good use was for its original purpose, the concert. Kinda made sense for anniversary cause big party vibes, but still annoying

I feel like if they want to expand on the community vibes they should just increase instance capacity to like 12 or something, it's much more minimal but allows 4 more people to be gathered and I bet it'll still feel like a big increase since we're used to just 8 instances

It seems possible to do this with the current game engines The same screen engine that I know of that can accommodate the largest number of players is Hadean's Other Engine 🤣

I think TGC has a tendency to emphasize "forced social attributes". In terms of social-related functions, TGC rarely gives us the opportunity to choose, and always handles them in their own style. I think that's probably why there hasn't been a button for so long.

DoL tickets are timed appearances (tragic, I know)
appearing for 10 minutes after XX:05 and XX:35 of every hour, then you just go to the craters the sparklies fall into and find them there
DoF is bugged so that's what everyone else is experiencing

Short answer: Some things are tested in beta in one patch, other things are tested in two or more patches. The statue to pick Home or Aviary as your loading point is one example. The map shrine or Friendship Constellation updates are another.

for days of Fortune there were a lot of complaints about festival tech and about location choice. There was also supposed to be a race in Fortune but it didn't work at all. For both Love and Fortune there were no free cosmetics. All that points to Fortune being reworked at least a bit (I hope) and Love, idk, it's very far off, event tickets collecting was very laggy but it felt like it needs less fixing overall but it's logical that both will just be restarted

Yesterday while DoFortune was still running, did you experience either of these:

• A day/night cycle in the event space or the ice rink below it?
