Pros : it's mic / choirs instrument and probably gonna be the only one in Sky till near future

Then there's the various tiers of the PS plus online subscription
Then each software has usually tons of purchaseble side content, usually cosmetic sets or currency bundles
Then each like, extra piece of the PlayStation is also worth a lot, like the controllers and camera and specific headphones and the VR headset which is very popular

Weird analogy incoming: It's like getting a dog, it's not just the dog, it's also the food, bed, toys, vet appointments, etc.

Switch controls got worse when Aurora update came. There's a bug right now where if you're nearby someone you can interact with, as long as they're within your field of view, you'll always bring up the friendship tree. This is REALLY annoying, and there's a couple more Switch bugs at that too.

Switch controls weren't great but aurora 0.19.0 update made it so whenever you press y and a friend is nearby or holding your hand it brings friend tree up. Trying to access guide, burn plants-- it's terrible. Wasn't this bad before that's for sure. Button priority went from mediocre to nonexistent.

I was on switch the other day there, usually I play mobile and I hadn't even realised it hadn't been fixed on switch and then these two strangers rocketed and I instantly crashed. One of the poorest decisions to fix a bug for only part of your playerbase that allows said part to continue breaking the other lot.
I jumped ship using switch for sky a while back when I got fed up with chatting there before they introduced the mobile chat option so I'm honestly lucky I can play sky on my ipad but other switch users only have switch and they're just sat suffering every time something like this happens - they haven't even fixed the purple visual bug either and the motion blur is horrible on switch especially

Also yeah motion blur was 0.18.5 and when 0.19.0 came it was fixed for switch.

If such ambitious content spreads as a beta leak, players will be less thrilled when they watch the concert in the live version.

It's kind of loosely based on it, but the resemblance is there bc people to have been shouting it looked journey related when I posted on dif platforms. since I wasn't sure if tgc had bad blood with playstation due to the journey copyright issue (everyone was saying we'd never get ps release or journey Collab bc of it), I made it a little different in hopes they'd use it.

Aurora ended in beta and we don't get to test last quest of aurora. Normally we test a new season when the live timer for current season says 40-30 days left, but since testing ended early beta players have nothing to do and made a waiting room that they usually make for "update droughts". Which is just a picture people draw their skykids in waiting.

We don't know about any new season or what we will test next because the season ended in beta so early. So we are in limbo kind of not knowing what TGC is planning to do.

Also we didn't get to test the last aurora quest because TGC probably had copyright things they needed to keep secret until release, but their internal testing team will be quality testing it. It's just we now have all this time (more time than usual) and we wonder what will occur. Bug fix testing, fortune event testing, playstation testing (aside from the closed beta there might be items we need to test as the open beta testers), early season testing? People are speculating and hoping.

I love Nagati’s idea of an aerial obstacle course or other skill-related activities that reward us with new secret places to go or see. Challenging myself to fly to hard to reach areas or get into hard to land on nooks and crannies with cool views is basically all I did in Sky when I first joined. Back then, I had a super-low wing count and the auto land feature wasn’t really implemented. My candle needs these days are fairly low, so I’d love more rewards like the penguin easter egg and fun out-of-the-way hangouts. I’d also love if activities like fishing or other challenges could sometimes let us catch a rare treat that’d reward us with a unique spell or an easter egg mini cosmetic (a fish hair ornament for catching something rare?), some special reward to mark the occasion of meeting a difficult challenge.

even if you don't use them to afk at flapping over them when a bit of wax has built up during your run does quite a bit to help your candle count go up, it's a relief to have them as idle spots. forest bonfire is perfect for that. my route takes me all the way through brook, and flying past the bonfire on my way to sunny forest is so satisfying. now with these burnable wax balls, they disappear after a while when nobody burns them. so not only do we not get to make a quick run through over the bonfire, but we don’t even get the built up wax.

i just don’t understand what tgc is playing at here. introduce idle wax spots for players to take a break at, and then remove idle part entirely? i’ve said it before and i’ll keep saying it until the system reverts back to the way it was: there is no need to punish players for not being active every second of gameplay. we already have wax areas outside of the normal candlerun routine with burnable wax such as geyser and grandma

i mean, i don’t think enough people would complain about the idle wax system that tgc would change it based on that input. the only reason i can see idle wax areas being detrimental because players leave their device on too long without supervision and it overheats. there are better ways to prevent that from happening than to change a whole mechanic of the game.

i think this change could just be tgc not wanting afk players. they did implement the afk timer a few months(?) ago.

Actually the issue wasn't so much at granny originally because we could sit with a white candle each to burn the buns, but then they got rid of that by having granny just throw the buns at us with no manners

2021 feast is a lot like the regular belonging cape, keeping the yellowish undertones and sleeker design, with just some extra floof added
yeti cape, on the other hand, is pure white and a lot chunkier. it's a full blown winter coat. however, it was made with yeti cosmetics in mind, with it's lining to show, which can be less versatile than a plain red of 2021 cape

When I used to visit them and someone would be playing music it was always really nice, and now musicians can't do that peacefully without having to stop every now and then to burn the wax balls... It's just really not a great decision tbh. I really hope they revert it

I'm happy you asked that question and from the pov of tgc there are numerous issues with afk players:

• after 10 minutes of inactivity your Skykid stops collecting wax and players find some instrument and other tricks to stop the counter happening to collect wax
• TGC wants social interactions. If a place has inactive kids that affects social behavior of others and regardless what one thinks if someone sees something repeatedly they learn to be less social from that. They always want us to play the game actively. Lighting up and seeing each other, chatting at benches always boosts game morale and IAP sales too.
• From server side afk players always clog servers and they are inactive. This is a loose-loose situation both for other players who actively play the game and for morale and for servers resources. Server costs multiplied in the past few years and inactive players - while you can get same amount candles multiple times faster with regular candle running - are not good.
• I'm not sure but assume there are many complex server merge algorithms in the code and it's even possible that this complex algorithm can't do much with glitching afk people (who circumvent the system).
• Additional cause: in long inactivity phones tend to heat up more and Sky being a demanding game it damages battery life in long term (only exception: docked switch). This is also a no-no. Imagine the damage for company reputation if some afk kids who don't know the cause start to discuss anywhere on the net that since they play Sky their battery got worse.
  To sum up: TGC wants an active playerbase for several reasons because that keeps the game alive in both wholesome and in monetary ways and it seems afk players make more trouble we can see from player side than we can imagine.
  This all above don't reflect my point of view, but logical choices from TGC for long term game morale, resources, game-device-safety reputation, etc.

regardless as to whether or not the idle wax areas were supposed to be afk areas or not, they were made and seen as a way to get away from the constant farming nature of the game.
the idle wax areas gave players the chance to earn wax without going through the trouble of a candlerun, while still giving them the opportunity to interact with other players via the chat benches around every bonfire. a lot of players including myself used these areas to practice and play music for other players.
due to this new change, idle wax areas would be used less considering players do use them as afk areas, which takes away from the social aspect. making players burn wax manually would interrupt conversations at benches and halt musicians and their audiences.
players are not doing anything wrong by being afk in these areas, it's a game. players don't always have the time to candlerun, or don't like the repetitiveness of farming in the first place. they should not be punished by not being constantly engaged with the game.
if tgc has a problem with sever issues or players being afk, they should either make a statement about it or take other, more extreme measures to ensure that players play the game. they shouldn't change up a whole system that many different players used for different means (the social aspect or afk players).
as for overheating, sky is a strong game. devices overheat while playing sky regardless if players are active or not.

Hi, i just read about afk players. And it was already happening even before passive wax exist. I'm an OOBer and there were many people, especially LDR couples who went to out of bounds area to park their skids together and sleep through the night. I had a foreign friend explained it to me when i saw skids sleeping at secluded areas without passive wax there and the reason of why they're there.
Well, even if it consume their battery and heat up their phone, some ppl would still do it not just bcz of passive wax ... Digital romance....

But testing it on beta would be safe cuz no season and event. Just give a warning to live people if they wish to try it in live, we don't want to put them in danger of not completing aurora season

do be VERY careful when doing this in live tho, as some numbers seem to trigger the "end" of the seasons from ios era, which will convert your seasonal currency. refer to the messages above

This bug gets really deadly when it comes for example the dragon, it takes 46 sits to spawn it but if you do 45 you get conversion lmao (in live)

For serious bugs that can impact things like currency and accounts, especially in the Live version, it's often best to not share details publicly on how to trigger it even as a warning. Like some mentioned here, people might just try it out of curiosity and it can become a bigger problem than a few occasional accidents.

While Beta should be a safer space to experiment with these, if anyone finds/suspects more serious bugs can come from the map shrine glitch you can send those in #contact-the-mods and we'll forward it to staff for investigation (or you can DM Zahlya directly for safety issues if you prefer )

If you are on Android, you have to use your Google account to become a tester and download updates. But you can link your progress in-game as you see fit

let's say i transfer data from the current phone to the new one, such as the apps

If it's the same platform (aka iOS to iOS, or Android to Android) you should be able to use the same account you joined the tester program when you switch devices
