while the function is implemented, I never wanted to add it in the first place. While it can be annoying at time, remember that hot potato is enabled for (at best) 5 minutes every hour and half. If you don't like what's going on simply come back 5 minutes later and you can chat in peace all you want

I have a counter suggestion. I think hot potato opt out should be more heavily limited; I see no reason why some admins and mods can get themself opted out but regular people can't. It feels sort of elitest to me.
Alongside this opt out shouldn't be made available to everyone since that would completely kill the minigame.
When I think opt out is justified:

1. People abusing the bot (ex: intentionally breaking it)
2. People getting heavily targetted (ex: they get cursed like every time for a week)
3. Devs since people think it's goofy and funny to hp them (it isnt). Opting them out would fix the issue of people tossing it to maxim/mastef and then everyone having to wait 8 years for it to happen. (If other parts of this suggestion aren't incorporated, I would like this part to be seen as a seperate suggestion since this is a painnn)

The social credit curse uses a very basic sentiment analyzer to determine whether a message is "good" or "bad". This would not make a good fit for determining if a user is well behaving or not, as the sentiment analyzer doesn't take in consideration context and naively decides based on the usage of some words. This would be achievable through the use of a more advanced LLM, but there are currently no plans to integrate one in AMP (nor is anyone interested in paying for a remote one, e.g GPT-3.5/4)

Bring back the infection curse, but limit it. Make it so one person can only infect a certain amount of people, and the third generation can no longer infect. an idea for moderation. Picture this. You’re chatting along, and you say a joke, which has nothing specific against it in the rules, so you think it’s fine. Say it wasn’t. For something like this, a mod will likely give you a warning, which is the right decision, except for the fact that you can only get 5 warns. So this can result in you getting a ban for things you didn’t know were against the rules. My suggestion is that instead of giving a warn, instead give a 1-5 minute timeout. In the meantime, the person will check their DMs to find a bot (YAGPDB.xyz) telling them to not say that. This way, the server stays without anyone getting offended, and nobody gets unfair bans.

Maybe instead of doing that, just add a one minute timeout to every warn so people can't go around saying they didn't get a chance to read the dm 👽. This way you will know damn well it's against the rules on a 100% basis and if you break it again, can't be saying that you didn't know it wasn't allowed.

It is currently clear that people want, due to the amount surging and interactivity allowing them to stay on the front page, which is a good thing. It's also not hard to search for a story by using a magical feature known as scrolling or searching by tag.

Unblock the names of historical/controversial figures from automod. By having them be blocked, you force people to use euphemisms like “funny mustache man”, which trivializes both the humanity and the horror of that which they committed. Furthermore, there’s no reason for saying the names to be banned if you can just use a euphemism and go unpunished in the middle of a conversation about them and their ideology. Why are we banned from directly naming the ideology and the people responsible for cultivating it but if we use flowery words that take the meaning away and make it look prettier, it’s suddenly perfectly okay?

Rodents are animals that are often intelligent, empathetic, and social. They are found cute by many. It is not the 1500s anymore, and treating them like they are vermin who can't think or feel is cruel.

As an example of why this is wrong.
Imagine someone says they wants to feed a cat antifreeze - of course it would be wrong and condemned.
Rodents should not be treated any differently.

The excuse may come that rodents are invasive, but as are cats, and again, saying they need to be culled heartlessly is a quick way to ruin your reputation. This also disregards the great variety of native rats and mice.

Since cats are the standard for "Cute" and "Acceptable" if you think rodent hatred is justified because of disease, you may literally have a virus that rewires your brain for your cat. Yet there is no one calling to kill all cats for that.

It is disgusting that this level of hostility is acceptable towards rodents.

We have many separate private channels and everything is working perfectly well with them. These "private" channels won't divide the server's activity as it will have limit of people. There will never be such activity as in general because it wasn't made for many people talk at the same time. People can create a subcommunity where they can e.g. play CS2 every evening. I'm pretty sure people won't use it for discussing what they ate during breakfast, it will still stay for #🌎general , as there are more people in there. There will be clan participants limit so clan chats don't get chaotic. If you had more patience to wait till we test it and open, you could've known all this, but you've decided to express skepticism about something that hasn't even come out yet. Instead of judging it, think of how to make it better (you can use a thread above to share your opinion)

This will break down exactly why this Clan System is a “meh, whatever" idea at best and at worst permanently entrenches the elitism and entitlement held by many members.

Let's address the first response to criticism of this idea, that they're “ already working well." No, not really. They are in a highly controlled environment where they are supposed to work. Rather being publicly accessible and subject to the pressures and chaos of the community.

There's also this belief that skepticism is unfounded when it is based on a long history of new implementations going poorly. Let's go back a year to when the roleplay category existed. It was subject to constant change that made it impossible for players to get invested. Its inactivity was then blamed on the community being disinterested, rather than the blatant mismanagement. Similarly we can look at the writing-portal, which was poorly moderated and a center of recent drama because the sense of entitlement to private mini-channels had grown deep-rooted. Events also sometimes fall into this trend, with ones like the “ trivia " only being possible to win for high ranking and long-standing members.

What this Clan System does is benefit the very apparent “in-group" of Worldbox with more special privileges, it doesn’t bring interest or utility to the community. There is no way a butterfly has the money to sustain and gamble to ten million, nor would they ever be able to rally the funding. Within hours of this being announced I have seen an occasion in a subserver where they promise something in exchange for support in this system. That is a terrible precedent, along with other subserver immediately jumping at the chance to form their own Clan, often including many of the “in-group". This only strengthens the stranglehold of toxic elitism and sows artificial divisions for something easily replicable elsewhere.

The example of playing CS2 nightly is much easier and far more convenient to do in a group chat or simply by going into VC. None of the functionality of this would be worthwhile for most people and what little it does have will divide already tense communities. Game Room already has some division within itself and between other servers. A private version of it would become stale and die off, even if the public version is skeptical of lowranks. This just increases the friction in the future when it's already boiled over several times.

This is not for the community, it benefits the “in-group" while excluding most people actually in the server and part of the Worldbox community. The reason the announcement of this has caused division is not out of contrarianism.
It is because the idea is designed, whether intentionally or not, around protecting and benefiting the “in-group" and deepening the chasm between them and regular members.

Details yap: maybe when making a clan for less than 3 million cc, owners can choose how much to put as the initial down payment, then negotiate a payment plan with the bot (or it just generates one automatically based on how much was paid. It can be simple). A new clan command can be added for every clan member which allows them to send money to the clan mortgage to pay it off, until the minimum payment is met every month or the debt is fully paid off. The bot can maybe send reminders in the clan channel if the payment has yet to be completed, and it’s up to the admins what to do if a clan can’t pay their mortgage. Clan Alliances
A solution to the whole issue people are having with not being able to join more then one clan that keeps the pros of keeping it where you can only join one. Making it so that two or more clans can make an "alliance" which gives them an extra channel that members of all clans associated to dwell in. Each clan could probably join one alliance; and each alliance could probably have an unlimited amount of members* (maybe clan managers would have to step in if every clan in existence makes an alliance with eachother). This would make it so that people who are torn between joining two similar clans can more easily just join one of them and still gain much of the benefits of the other; while also keeping clan rivalries as a possibility; and likely enhancing the dynamic to them.
How this could work exactly is making it so that a clan leader can do something akin to a invite command on another clan leader; which will give this other clan leader a DM from AMP asking if they would like to join the an alliance with the first clan leader. All clan leaders within the alliance should have the same perms IE; there should not be mechanical alliance leaders (having "alliance leaders" in name is reasonable). This is because if the clans can't trust eachother to have permissions to invite other clans to the alliance; then they probably shouldn't have an alliance going in the first place.
Why?
As brushed on earlier; it would make it so that clans that have similar demographics, for example if three clans are mainly comprised of people who are active in #🎲game-room; they can have an alliance in order to keep those clans connected to each other as the existing community is; while not making it so that people can explicitly join two or more clans; which keeps the exclusivity and competitiveness that is so often brought up in arguments against joining more then one clan.
This would also improve the clan dynamic imo allowing ppl to pick sides.

For a practical use maybe you can "open" it by using the command, which gives you multiple other random items that are in the shop at the time you use it which amount to somewhere between 500,000 and 1,500,000 cc.
Also I suggest getting rid of all the items that don't have a use and making some items that don't have a use have a use. For example maybe making the seed upon use plant a tree which returns you 10% more the next week if you harvest it.
Something else to note is that if you need to have a custom command for this you might be able to make the item use text a command for amp which triggers the program. But I'm not a bot developer so this might actually be horrendously stupid.

Of course, the use of ping should be done alongside common sense, and only can be done inside their text channel. They also can’t just ping clan members for no reason or spam it (This depends on whether the clan members agree with it or not).

Please make joking about glue traps banned. These ' jokes ' consist of one thing, pointless animal cruelty. Even if you view mice as pests it is not as effective as other traps, and causes untold suffering for the animal as they starve and literally tear their skin off in the struggle. This would most definitely fall under animal cruelty if someone encouraged this to be done to hamsters. Glue traps also often catch wildlife and causes untold suffering and damage to native populations such as birds. Additionally, if explaining how cruel they are and how awful it would be to a person warrants an " encouraging self harm " warning, then joking about the same thing on animals should not be allowed.

After some internal discussion among helpers, we've found that this isn't really needed. Platform distinctions are needed to judge capabilities, but the Steam versions of WorldBox between Windows/Mac/Linux only differ in some details like specific directory locations. Writing operating systems instead of Steam would, if anything, increase ambiguity, since it doesn't distinguish between the Steam version and more limited methods of obtaining the game on PC like Apples App Store on Mac or Android emulators.
Even if such issues weren't present, the switch wouldn't be realistic to make from a practical perspective, since platform roles wouldn't match up with the tags anymore and we'd need to effectively erase the entire past history of posts being tagged with Steam, since it'd be far too much effort (and often nonsencial) to retroactively split them up into their respective platforms. Syncing up platform roles to the change would be even worse since we'd be deleting the platform info of thousands of people, and most would be unlikely to notice this on their own and select the correct platform

The command makes use of generative AI to determine the winner, and of course it's not completely free. We have a daily limit of requests we can make before google blocks us and asks to take out the wallet. I will be monitoring usage of this command along the rest of features that make use of AI, if we manage to stay below the limit I will consider lowering the cooldown.

If a lender leaves the server, they should be owed nothing. They should not be able to transfer their loans or influence the economy in the slightest while absent of their own volition. Any loans they do have should either be forgiven or paid directly back to AMP, up the discretion of economy staff.
