Wait a minute, is there like bundles things when it comes to adding some homebrew races?
Long story short I’m trying to make a mermaid character, and I collected some homebrew, I picked two mermaids ones and a merfolk one, but when I want to make the character there’s like 4 mermaid and a handful of stuff I don’t remember adding but no merfolk one
Those are subraces.
Much like the official elf.
You can’t be just an elf; you’re a wood elf, or a high elf, or…
All of the subraces have all the traits of the parent race, plus something that distinguishes them from the rest.
So in this case, mermaids, naga, and sirens are all merfolk.
You simply need to choose which type of merfolk you want to be.
Ooh, ok! I thought it would still be merfolk but we had to choose subrace under it, so when I couldn’t find merfolk I thought I was doing something wrong
Yeah, for whatever reason, homebrew subraces don’t get grouped under the parent like official subraces do.
They just show up in the main list as individual choices.
Ya I’m still new to dnd so I thought I was big braining it when it came to trying to make a merfolk only for it to stump me with that one. 🤣😭
My dnd beyond is giving me that you need to enable tracking issue. But I can’t enable tracking because I have a below 18 Apple ID what should I do about it
Question
- When making a homebrew spell, is there a way for the spell to roll the dice for you? (Image 1) - I've done the roll command.
[roll] isn’t gonna do anything there.
Generally speaking, the easiest way to figure out how to homebrew is to find an official spell that does what you want. Then you can make a homebrew copy of it and see exactly how it was set up.
But in this case, you’ll want to add a Modifier.
- Type: Damage
- Subtype: Acid
- Die Count: 4
- Die Size: d6
can a soulknife use his pshyhic blades on reaction attacks?
for example if i have mage slayer feat and a mage within 5 foot of me uses a spell and i get reaction attack can i form and use my pshyhic blades
?
This channel is for help with the DNDBeyond website
However, it says when you take the attack action, so... no.
Hello! I just noticed that the dnd beyond link is not adjusting. You'll see in this picture.
Is there a reason why the guard archer is staying as a url?
We don't offer support for Trello or other third party apps
So, its not a dnd homebrew thing?
Without knowing how Trello works, it’s impossible to say.
That's not D&D Beyond, and we don't control how other apps render D&D Beyond urls
Trello's forums/customer support/discord server/etc?
Google?
If you’re saying that’s a homebrew monster and the others aren’t, then that’s probably the reason.
Some of the others are
Especially if it’s a private homebrew, with limited access.
When leveling up a character and having them set to manual HP, why does the number I the fixed HP slot change
is it supposed to do that?
Is there a way to incorporate lycanthropy into a dnd beyond character? My dm allowed me to use werewolf stats but is there another way?
No, per D&D 5e rules characters cursed with lycanthropy are removed from the game as playable characters. But you could create a custom race or feats to represent your homebrew lycanthropy-touched character.
Ok, thanks
Sorry for the tag! It’s just been a minute since I had posted this so I wanted to be sure you saw the conclusion LMAO
I had meant rolled HP! This isn’t the character but I can’t seem to get it to replicate now. But last night I had a player leveling up a character and the rolled HP number kept jumping up on the level up, then back down when we rolled it down.
It did it from both our devices. But it doesn’t seem to be doing it today, so I suppose it’s all good now
Question before I ask my main question, is this the place I should go to ask help with the D&D Beyond homebrew maker or is there another channel?
I may have figured it out, so never mind!
Is maps not working for anyone else? I keep getting this error message
It's working fine for me on my phone. Have you tried a different web browser?
It works on a different campaign of mine but for some reason not the one I need
And yes I’ve tried both opera and chrome but neither works for me
It’s suddenly resolved now. Thanks everyone who did something if they did anything haha
Could’ve been my group idk 🤷🏼♂️
Question, I am playing a character with a flight speed equal to my walk speed. In the override boxes, I can change my walk speed (and so recalculate flight off that) but if I directly put in a fly speed into the box it won't display that and will only keep at the same as my walk speed. Is there any way around this? As I am playing in a game where flying speed is doubled as a house rule, I can't get fly speed and walk speed to show different.
Much thanks. I suspect it's because of the feature giving me a fly speed overruling the overruling box
Is there any way you can purchase just the magic items from the BoMT? I can’t seem to find the option.
I'm afraid not.
Individual items are not available for purchase on Book of Many Things. This will not affect your previous purchases. You will still be able to make a la carte purchases for all products that have always had a la carte purchasing.
anyone here well versed with dndbeyond homebrew? i'm trying to create one of those scaling DC descriptions into the sheet text (the Snippet part using snippet code), but the sheet doesnt show anything with my entered code of {{savedc:str}}. I include it in between a sentence in the snippet portion and it just doesnt appear in the sheet. The sentence reads out without the snippet code
It sure sounds like you did it correctly.
Did you have it there from the start, or did you add it in later? Homebrew edits can sometimes take up to 15 minutes to appear on your sheet.
Oh, now I see what's happening. It shows correctly on the features tab, but not on the Action tab. I forgot to add it in the Action of the feature
the minute you ask for help, you figure it out yourself..
thanks anyway mr spamandtuna
To reflect any changes I make, is the easiest way to switch my test character out of said homebrew and back?
Not sure. I usually just distract myself with something else for a few minutes.
You could give it a try, though.
If that doesn't do it, creating a new character entirely might work.
it updates on the character by itself with time? it doesnt keep using the old version of my homebrew?
Correct
I think DDB's language filter accidentally made it into the books. Because if the word was meant to be stricken from the books they would just remove that title no?
SCAG Chapter 1 Umberlee section
Hi-o! Question if I may.. I recently bought a campaign on dndbeyond and it has some gorgeous pre-made maps in the Dndbeyond Maps alpha tool.. which is great, but I would love to have those images outside of the map tool as well. Is there a way to extract or save them that any of you know of?
In general, the maps all come from the book itself. You should be able to find and save the images there.
Is there a specific map you were interested in?
Yes actually 🙂 With the Dungeons of Drakkenheim they have some okay-looking maps in the book itself, but they also offer some 57 colored (and amazing looking) maps through the dndbeyond adventure tool.. which is cool, but I would prefer them as an image if I could..
Ah, I didn’t realize that one had unique versions in Maps. 🤔
yeah they are absolutely gorgeous and I'd even pay a premium if I could get them as non-stuck-in-the-maps-module, hahah 😄
I don't think there's currently a way to download them from Maps, unfortunately.
awh dangit :/
But you could submit a feature request through the Maps feedback survey.
https://surveys.hotjar.com/9a10b4cf-2748-49e2-8a77-f92b71c1b1a8
willdo! Thank you 😄
This channel is for getting technical support help for DnDBeyond's tools and services. Please ask your question in #dnd-discussion or #character-discussion (character discussion may be the most appropriate).
My mistake, thank you
I do in fact own Tome of foes, so this seems to be a bug. (I can see the statblock just fine when I click on the its name, this only happens when its viewed in the Encounter builder)
I believe this is a known issue
Just confirmed, this is a known issue with the team
alright
Which book would I need to create a minotaur PC?
Theros or Modenkainen Presents
Can someone please help me figure out what race to be?
You could try asking in #character-discussion. This channel is for getting help with D&D Beyond, not the game itself.
The original printing of Minotaur is actually in Guildmaster's Guide to Ravnica, not Theros
Oh, Theros was my first time reading about it
I think it was reprinted there, so you weren't incorrect. I'm just used to seeing it listed under Ravnica on the DDB races page, so I thought that was the only place you could find it before Monsters of the Multiverse
If I cancel my subscription do I keep the hombrew stuff I’ve already assigned to my characters
Or does that vanish
Like I did the initial purchase but now I’m having second thoughts
But I’m also worried if I cancel
I’ll have to rebuild an entire character sheet
Any homebrew you’ve already added to your collection will remain in your collection, even if your subscription expires. You just won’t be able to add any mote.
Any homebrew added to a character will remain on your character, even if the homebrew is removed from your collection.
Just grabbed Mordeenkainen

Question: I have a free account, and a friend has a master account. He has shared his books with me. If I subscribe and turn my free into a master account, can I DM an online game using his shared books? (I'm thinking no, but I'd like to ask to be certain.
It will share the books belonging to anyone in your campaign.
So if that friend is joining as one of your players, his books will be shared.
And anyone with a Master Tier subscription can enable Content Sharing for the campaign (not just the DM).
Shared content is only usable in the campaign that it’s shared in. However, YOU can still access the books that are being shared with you through other campaigns if you want to just read them. But if, for example, your friend has Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything and you don’t, you and your players won’t be able to use content from Tasha’s in the campaign you are DMing if your friend isn’t in that campaign with you.
Bug report: whenever you change device orientation (portrait/horizontal) while using the webpage viewer on the app, it reloads and returns to the original page.
Y'all probably know this one already given how widespread it is, but I thought I'd better chime in anyway
I've noticed this issue using both a Samsung Galaxy S7 and a Galaxy Note A.
Also, if you switch windows, any sourcebook you're currently reading will black out and become unreadable until you restart the app
Are there any functioning coupons for ddb? Considering buying books
I'm getting an option to choose Fireball when I'm a level 6 Dao genie Warlock. That shouldn't be possible
Oh....I'm getting access to all genie expended spell list....despite choosing one. I assume that's just a program thing
Yeah, that’s a known issue.
They tend to do sales rather than coupons. Today’s the last day for the end-of-the-year sale, in fact.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace
I just took advantage of it got the players handbook and mordenkainen
Where do I access them?
When making a homebrew subclass is there any way to add higher level spell slots to the subclass? I want to make a version of Eldritch Knight that's focused on fire magic and doesn't totally suck but I don't see any way to add another row of spell slots of higher level.
The sources tab on the top bar menu
Why can't I add racial traits to a subrace
What happens when you try?
Which "the button"? Add Racial Feature?
Yes
And when you say "nothing shows up", do you mean it keeps you on the same page you're already at, or it takes you to a blank page, or...?
Oh, so it's not when you click the Add Racial Trait button. You're not even seeing that button.
Try turning your phone sideways.
Thanks
hwo can i tell if my dm has purchased zantar guide to everyhting
You would have to ask them
they belive the have but
no feats or subcalsses have show u in our campiange'
i got to charchter creation- no subcalsses
i got to feats
nothing
Someone in the campaign needs a master tier subscription, and to enable content sharing
anybody?
then the character needs to be made in that campaign
ik that
yep, it can be anyone in the campaign
so does only the dm have to have content sharing enabled?
No, anyone can enable it
if anyone enables it, its enabled
YAAAAAAAYYYYY
for that specific campaign
Hey, I had one of my player's character die and I was wondering what the best way of going about removing their character would be. I saw that there is a "deactivate" option but from what I saw online that doesn't seem like what I want. Basically, they will be joining with a new character but it is possible that they will play their old character later on instead. Should I just remove them from the campaign and then they join back with that character if that ends up happening? Let me know if anything I said needs explained, thanks :)
The player always owns the character they've created - so the best way to prevent that character being used in your campaign is to deactivate them in the campaign. Because potentially someone will resurrect them or something simularly epic (come back as an undead version of themselves maybe?).
So deactivating the character will do what I want to have happen?
I don't need to remove them and add them back later?
I mean you can do it either way but I'd just use the deactivated approach because there may be a chance that character does come back (in game)
On dnd beyond where do I add subclasses? Been trying to with a cleric.
Clerics choose it for their Divine Domain feature at level one.
is it possible to move a character from a friend's campaign over to a campaign I have made?
You’ll have to remove it from the existing campaign first.
Then use the invite link at the top of your new campaign page to add it there.
Thank you!
Where would i put /looking for command in (what channel)
it should work in any channel
@edgy oriole
@spark jolt - on the class screen (when you're editing the character) can you see the Optional Feature Manager tab next to the Class Features?
thnaks 👍
Why does suggestion take 2nd and 3rd level spell slot?
Any spell can be casting using a higher-level spell slot.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/spellcasting#CastingaSpellataHigherLevel
But if you want your spells to display at the base level only, you can do that in your character settings.
There's a toggle called Show Level-Scaled Spells that you can turn off.
In a recent adventure I recieved the Sixth Sword. How do I add this to my character in D&D Beyond? I have homebrew enabled, and have purchased Xanthor's Guide, Thasha's Cauldron, and the Dungeon Master's Guide but it will not come up as a choice when managing my inventory.
This is a custom AL item, I take it?
If it’s not in the official books, it won’t be in the official listings.
You’d have to create it as a homebrew magic item.
Thanks, it has been showing up for some players and not for others.
The players would also need to toggle "homebrew content" on their character sheet settings. If that's not toggled, they won't be able to see and add homebrew items.
All of us have "homebrew content" toggled on. The sword comes up for two of us but not the other two. I've contacted D&D Beyond to see if support has any suggestions.
Are the characters all in the same DnDBeyond Campaign? Homebrew can't be shared unless all the characters are in the same campaign (or the player has an appropriate subscription and the homebrew is public - which it shouldn't be since it's copyrighted content - so they can add it to their personal DnDBeyond Homebrew Collection and then use it that way.)
For the two that don’t see it, if they go to this page, does it say their account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
Is it possible to run maps in DDB? What all do I need? I have some source content, and the people in my campaign? Is that all that’s needed?
You’ll need a Master Tier subscription as well. (Your players will not.)
Thank you so much! @uneven lantern So really D&DBeyond can be used as a one-stop shop in your opinion?
Character creation, virtual rolls, and maps.
Unless you’re doing voice/video chat, yeah.
Ah yes, I’ll be using Discord for that.
You might be interested in Avrae, too, then — D&D Beyond’s Discord bot.
http://avrae.io/
Oh wow!
Let me look into that! Thank you!
Question about inventory. Let’s say they’re at a merchant. I want to show them wares…
They buy something, does :
DDB have a thing for like transactions?
Not currently, no.
Okay so as the DM I should place said item in their inventory and they should manually subtract gold or I can do that too?
They’d have to add what they’re getting to their inventory, and then subtract the cost from their gold.
Perfect, got ya.
Anything players can do on their sheet, the DM can do as well.
I saw the inventory and what they had etc., but… I noticed that I couldn’t find rare stuff.
Does DDB have rares and legendary? I saw some wondrous and uncommon I think.
Yeah, they do.
Okay, I just have to research better.
2nd to last question.
I want to make a custom spell list that a subclass can draw from INSTEAD of the main class’ list. Is that possible?
Everybody should have access to these ones, at the very least.
You wouldn’t be able to remove access to the original spell list, but you can certainly add spells.
Like a sort of playlist of spells and name it the subclass etc.?
If you were to do this with a cleric subclass, for example, they’d just show up intermixed with all the usual cleric spells.
And then finally, is it possible to add over time? What I mean is can I just add the first and second level spells for now per subclass and eventually…like can I get away with just starting them and add to the subclasses over time without impacting play?
I have a campaign starting Sunday 6pm EST - I got all the races in but the classes … Im gonna have to rush
Creating a few subclasses and a spell list seems tedious;
Can you create backgrounds?
Yeah, you can create backgrounds, and those backgrounds can add spells to their spell lists, too.
And then you can just edit the backgrounds later if you want to keep adding spells.
Any spells added this way will show up once the character has spell slots of an equivalent level.
So they’ll get access to any 3rd-level spells you add once they get 3rd-level spell slots.
Okay great and same with subclass features over time as I get to them. This is perfect!
Thank you for all of your help! About to have a long night ahead! 😂
I'm having problems creating a character using the Simic Hybrid (from Ravinca) race. It won't show up on the character creator. Any ideas as to why?
Do you have Magic: the Gathering Content enabled for that character?
Yes, and the content is properly shared with me (and appears completely otherwise)
Is your character assigned to the campaign that’s sharing it?
Yes
If you visit this page, does it say your account entitlements are in sync?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
Yes it does. This is very odd...
Based on everything you’ve said, it does sound like it’s all set up correctly.
I think the next step would be to talk to your group.
Confirm that whoever enabled Content Sharing for that campaign still has an active subscription. They’d be able to confirm that on the same page linked above.
And confirm that someone does indeed own that race (i.e. make sure it’s being shared through that campaign and not another).
The owner would see a checkbox next on this page next to the race if they do indeed own it:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/guildmasters-guide-to-ravnica
#ddb-feedback message is the quick fix to this just make a custom attack?
yes, just make a custom action
I appreciate your help.
How do you swap out spells for aberrant mind inside of dndbeyond? do i just track it in my head?
cant currerntly im afriad they havent finshed setting up the general feature framework need to allow that yet
Oh okay
hopfully with the new core books intented to come out this year they are able to get the frame work ready
You can make a homebrew copy of the subclass and change it there.
Search filters for spells, monsters, and items are not appearing on the mobile site for me
Make sure you're running the latest version of the app (I'm assuming you mean the mobile app).
Try changing your device orientation
Maybe it's just hidden off screen
But the filters should still be ther.
May have to click the Advance Filters link to toggle it open
Rotation did not help
The option isn't there at all
I'm looking at it on my phone and I can see the Show Advanced Filters link - clicking that shows all the possible filters.
So something on your browser is likely at fault.
Oh could it be from an ad blocker? I can try turning that off
Yep - ad blockers will definitely mess stuff up with DnDBeyond functionality
Turned off ad blocker and it fixed the issue, thanks for the help
does the D&D Beyond Legendary Bundle ever go on sale?
In the past there have been give-aways but generally the legendary bundle itself is not usually discounted. However whatever books you purchase are deducted from the cost of the bundle if/when you do purchase it.
The reason I was wondering is because I own pretty much the entire 5e physical
There are five ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full book from the marketplace
- Purchase individual elements from the marketplace (options can be found within the book description)
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from dndstore.wizards.com
- Join a campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
Unfortunately there's no way to get digital access to the same materials you own physically unless you bought one of the hybrid physical+digital bundles through dndstore.wizards.com
Our DM is not using the campaign function so we are not connect on D&D Beyond.
Then you'll somehow need to make sure everyone has access to that item (either owned or personally created homebrew item) and can add it to their sheet that way.
Just to make sure everything is abundantly clear - when we announce a sale we also announce when it ends. We do not do retroactive sales prices barring some very unique circumstances (and decided by folks way above me). That said, stay tuned as there will be future sales.
Welp.
Yes, it does occasionally go on sale.
No idea when the next one will be, but they’re typically announced in #dnd-announcements.
I need help setting up a Modifier for a magic item. I created fist wraps for a monk that I need to add +1 to attack/damage rolls for only unarmed strikes, but it's modifying only his weapons (staff and bow) what am I missing? Ignor the STR I was trying something else. Thanks for any advice.
Does a druid character sheet have a way to track it's wildshape form
Yeah, under Extras.
Try selecting “Unarmed Attacks” for the subtype instead.
That was it. Thank you very much 🤘😁
This just happened for our group as well. By debugging the console it was a expiredToken. But it recovers after half an hour. So it seems to be some technical issues one player could still acces the map
Hi! Anyone know how to add a Feat in ddb? I want to give my players specific feats that are exclusive to a sourcebook but can’t find the option
What part specifically?
It is possible to make homebrew feats and they become accessible as feats as normal, or able to be manually added outside of other progression
From the Theros book there are Supernatural Gifts
They seem like optional feats because the book says a normal feat can be taken instead
you can make them as feats and add them manually
Those aren't actually feats as per rules, but you can use the feats sytem to put them in the sheet
Thank you, where do I find the feat system tab?
Sorry for the stupidity but it’s my first time DMing with ddb
game rules tab, on the right it says 'create homebrew feat'
you can put the effects of the thing into that feat
then you can go into feats, manage feats, when viewing character sheet
Howdy all... I am a new Artificer (started 3rd level). I am using the D&DBeyond/Discord combo to play our campaign. I've gotten several things figured out, but I don't know how to use my D&DBeyond Character sheet to attack with my Steel Defender. Is there a way to do that?
I think the steel defender stat block is on there and it shows you it's attacks and I guess just do it manually
Yeah, you should see it all there on the Actions tab: its attacks, its stats, and a health tracker.
is there a way to see a characters alignment, background, etc from a link to a character sheet someone has sent?
If you are on the character sheet it’s under description I think
Wierdly, no. For whatever reason the background section of character sheets is not displayed when opening public links to character sheets
A possible solution would be to export the sheet as a PDF rather than sharing a link
thanks. will have my players do that instead 🙂
Those are indeed on the Description tab. That and the Notes tab are visible only to the player and the DM.
If you are the DM and don’t see those sections, try opening the character from your campaign page instead.
thanks, will give that a go also
How do I replace the spells that I get from psionic spells?
That can only be done by making a homebrew copy of the subclass and changing it there.
But why though?
its a feature that's directly built into the subclass, and not even an optional feature either
Is it hard to make a homebrew copy?
Also wouldn't I have to change each individual spell to another one each time there is a spell I wanna replace?
No, just go to the Create Subclass page and select your subclass as a template. You'll get an exact copy.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/creations/create-subclass
Oh, nice
And yeah, you can set it to let you choose a spell instead.
For each individual spell?
Hi #ddb-support, I am very confident that I recently i resubscribed on my yearly master tier subscription plan for dnd beyond. I am now asked to pay. I was wondering if anyone knows:
- where i can check when the last payment was made.
- how long can I wait with resolving the issue, before I loose my characters
Any help is greatly appriciated, as paying for another subscription would be difficult.
If I am looking in the wrong channel please let me know.
If you go here you should be able to see your current active subscription details, including when it started and when it expires.
You won't lose any characters, all that will happen if your subscription lapses is that you'll be asked to lock all but six of your characters. Once you resubscribe, all your characters will be unlocked
On the page it says I don't have an active subscription. The order transaction list doesn't mention any subscription payments I've made in the past (I've had this plan for 2 or 3 years). Is this a case where the payment for resubscribing failed?
I don't have an answer to that, you'd have to contact customer service
Do you know where I can do so?
Check the pinned post
Okay, thank you.
I have a question, if I have the Master Rank subscribtion, will my already bought documents like the rulebook etc. accessible to my players?
If you enable content sharing in a campaign they're part of
and will they get things like the subraces and feats from those books for their characters?
They'll get access to any content anyone in the campaign owns on D&D Beyond
ok thanks
one last thing, is there a bundle that contains the bare minimum + the three main books (monster manual, player handbook, dm guide)
There's no such bundle like that
All bundles can be found here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/bundles
I want to add a homebrew spell to monster that I am creating. But when I insert normal tooltip [spell]spellname[/spell] but on the monster stat block it only says [tooltip not found] is there any way for me to fix that
That won't work for homebrew spells.
You could add a normal link to your spell instead, though.
Oh ok. Thx
is the rulebook and dice set free when using the digital desktop?
The Basic Rules are available for free.
And yeah, you can roll dice for free, too.
(There's additional dice sets available for purchase if you want to change the look.)
Actually, there's a couple free dice sets here, too:
?tag ddb claim
The following items on D&D Beyond can be claimed at no cost.
- Baldur's Gate 3 Set
- Baldur's Gate Gazeteer
- Giants of the Star Forge
- Honor Among Thieves Bundle
- Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden Dice Set
- Intro to Stormwreck Isle
- Lightning Keep
- Monstrous Compendium Volume Two: Dragonlance Monsters
- Monstrous Compendium Volume Three: Minecraft Creatures
- Prisoner 13
- Unearthed Arcana Playtesting
thanks
If I make a character with the Giant Foundling background, why am I not able to replace the Giant language proficiency from the background if I learn it from another source, such as race or subclass?
Does the background say that if you already know the Giant language that you can learn a different language instead?
No, neither does the Rune Carver background which leads to the same issue. The closest equivalent I can find is Clan Crafter from SCAG, which grants "Dwarvish or one of your choice if you already speak Dwarvish". I realise that this is not a D&D Beyond issue, merely an issue with the writing of these backgrounds
If you and your DM agree that you should have another language for any reason, you can select the Languages section of your DDB character sheet and add another language manually
I know, thank you
I normally login to DND beyond through Twitch. How can I change that to logging in through Google?
After logging in via Twitch, go to your profile and set things up to link to your Google Account and then start using your Google account to login. You'll need to allow 3rd-party cookies and allow popups on the dndbeyond domain (as it uses Google's oAuth services to log you in).
That’s on this page:

This channel is for DnDBeyond technical support - try asking in #character-discussion or #optimization depending on what you're trying to achieve.
Does DDB or WotC ship to Czechia?
Well D&D Beyond only offers digital products so there's no shipping
as for dndstore.wizards.com, you can find the shipping information there
Thanks
Does anyone know how to submit a trouble ticket on DDB? I am subscribed for a few months now but have not gotten January's rewards. Was wondering if that is an everyone thing - or just a bug on my account.
I'm not sure the January rewards have been announced as going out yet, so I'm not sure that warrants a ticket
But if you still wish to submit a ticket:
If you have an issue with D&D Beyond purchases or subscriptions, you may need to contact customer support. To do so, please go to http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket and submit a ticket.
Important
- You will need to make an account for the support ticket system. This is not your D&D Beyond account.
- Tickets are responded to in the order they are received and response times depend on how busy the support team is.

Yea - I am not in a rush, it is the holidays and I do hope the staff has taken a well earned break.
Nah, I will wait a bit longer - are you a subscriber? Can you check that you also can't see the rewards? Or should I go find someone else?
Subscriber perks almost never go out at the start of the month, is usually around the end of the first or second week ish
Either way Davyd, I appreciate that quick help!
I am drooling over the snowybackdrop. My goliath awaits a worthy backdrop to match our cold themed adventure. I can wait longer though!
Trying to make it so a homebrew weapon gives the option to roll two different damage rolls (one slashing, the other option being bludgeoning) how can I do this?
You can't, that's not something supported by the homebrew tools
At most you could make two different versions
Or set up a custom action on your character sheet to represent the second attack type
I suppose that works, many thanks
Question about DDB maps 🙂
You gotta ask it before anyone can answer. 😅
Lmao I forgot about that part! In the DDB maps, can you create obstructions or things that monsters can hide behind instead of that complete open space? Also is there a way to get better maps then just those 5 basic ones?
There’s not a way to add those, but you can add your own maps altogether.
And any book in the marketplace that’s tagged with “Maps” will be available for use there, too.
Id like to know if anyone have any sources to someone that can make a custom campaine that id like to attend like a surprise but with customs? if that even make since i wanna have a 8 hr Champaign for a birthday party and ik i wouldn't be able to make n play it if i made it (plus idek where to start) so i'm curious if anyone can help me find some who can make it for me or som...
If you’re looking for folks to play with, #find-a-game can point you in the right direction.

Ok so anytime i try to choose a ability score for my character it shows there isn’t anything. Idk how to fix it or why its doing this.
Have you set your ability scores up yet?
Wdym?
Are you levelling up a character you've used before, or are you making one anew right then and there?
And they have ability scores, and they're not all 20?
They are all at 18
I can send a picture of what i see
(@ me when reply pls, gotta do smthn real quick)
Can you send a link to your character?
I'm having an issue with a magic item that I purchased through the marketplace not showing up when I'm trying to add it to my character's inventory. The item is Masque Charm. Any insight or help would be appreciated.
Have you enabled Magic: the Gathering content?
that's the ticket! thank you
Does anyone know how to change what stat you weapon uses for attack rolls ?
Like I am trying to make a dagger that use charisma instead of dexterity or is this another feature that is yet to be implemented?
I think the best way, as of right now, is to make a custom action on the character sheet that will have that weapon
so if i want to document a homebrewed class whats the best way to do that? my best idea is to make a new sublcass and just documetn whats different
This channel is for getting help using D&D Beyond, for general homebrew questions you want #homebrew
@glad bridge You've added Other Modifier 10 which means all your ability scores are over 20 and so ASIs can't increase them any further
As normal, you can’t increase an ability score above 20 using this feature.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/classes/paladin#AbilityScoreImprovement-268
Yes, that’s the most fundamental part of the game. Have you read the chapter on character creation?
The huh?
Its been a minute since i played dnd or dmed
Wasn’t aware of a chapter on character creation
You probably wanna check out #dnd-newcomers
Can i show u guys my character and get some feedback or help with parts
Wrong channel, you want #character-discussion
Oh thank tou
K thank you
Question. I'm converting one of my homebrew races to dnd beyond and for the most part i've been able to figure it out but for the life of me I can't figure out how to add a cantrip as a raical trait.
look at how high elf does it
if i have a pdff with stat blocks is there any automated way to convert a stat block there to dnd beyond homebrew mosnter? or do i have to manually enter
There is no DnDBeyond public API to programmatically insert data and create homebrew creatures that way.
sorry if this is the wrong place.
where can i get account help logging in?
im logged in on my ios tablet - but when i try to login in a browser i dont know what login method i used or what email it was?
I think its a wizards of the coast login. and i think its an gmail address i cannot recover and have no access to. iv efought with google for a couple of days and they are adamant the account is lost never ever to be recovered. what can i do? i have my account name (the profile name not the email i used) from the ios app is all i have.
Go setup a new Google or Apple account. Then in your tablet, log on to DnDBeyond from the app or browser there, go to your user profile, and change your associated email/account login. Then use that new Google/Apple account to login to DnDBeyond going forward.
Or you can reach out to Customer Service to see if they can assist: http://dndbeyond.link/SubmitTicket
You will likely need proof of ownership of the account.
does changing my email in dndbeyond app change it also in wizards of the coast if thats the login method i used?
No - it's just setting up a different way to login to DnDBeyond
i can probably prove im the owener - im still logged into it on the tablet. and i think i know the eamil address
sorry, not sure i understand. i change my email in dndbeyond - then how do i login with that new email if wizards dont know about the new email?
Use the Customer Service approach if you would like Customer Service to help you get the WoTC account reset to use the new email account.
hm.. i get an "internal server error" with a picture of a beholder every time i try and change my account to a different type, or change the wizards of the coast login to a different one
ive tried every linking it to discord, apple, everything. all show internal server error
ok.. except twitch. if i link it to my twitch account, when i hit "authorize" is shows a "invalid OAuth state" error
ok.. im out of any ways to change my login method now.. tried all of them
ok.. so ive raised a customer services ticket. but looks like i wont be able to view the ticket or any updates. as it asks me to login with my wizards of the coast login to view the ticket. kinda problematic when the whole point is i cant login. i know the email and password, but i cant receive the 'verification email' its trying to send me.
getting a bit frustrated now
I'll see if I can raise some eyes on it from the backend - sorry for the frustration there!
Hi guys, anyone knows of a working snippet formula that would mirror the numbers of eldritch blast beams on the sheet? I'd like for it to write out in the snippet that a feature has a progression of 1 at 1st, 2 at 5th, 3 at 11th and 4 at 17th, would that be possible?
using scalevalue which changes at levels 5 11 and 17
Right, I already tried that, problem lies in the fact that as I've been reading, scalevalue would only work with class levels instead of character levels, and the character is a multiclass
as a feat then?
{{(characterlevel+7)/6#rounddown}}
what
5+7 is 12, /6 is... 2...
11+7 is 18 /6 is... 3...
and 17+7 is 24 /6 is... 4.
Huh. Who the hell figured that out?
No idea. I just go steal it off the Avrae server whenever I need.
sorry i meant if i want to document a homebrewed class in dnd beyond to put into a campaign
You can't homebrew classes on D&D Beyond, it's not supported
ye i know thats why im asking if theres any good work around like making it a subclass of something
That's... Actually genius, how do people come up with this stuff? It's just Beyond me (ba dum tss)
Thanks a lot, spamandtuna
i saw the banner message about tickets taking longer due to the holidays. thats understandable. but how long should i wait for a ticket about not being able to login until i try and chase it up? i only created it 11hrs ago (#3715630) so wasnt remotely expecting a response by now - but is this something i should wait until end of tomorrow for? or end of next week?
(and is it USA based support?)
The exact response time depends on how many tickets were submitted ahead of yours.
Response time is typically measured in days, not hours, during busy periods
But that number isn’t something anyone here would knoelw.
You should not, at any point, 'follow up' as this will just push you to the bottom of the list
So, how come DDB only has one feat for variant human? Grappler.
Because you haven't purchased, or had shared with you, any of the other feats
DDB has all official (and some third party) feats, just not for free
I have bought several books however, are there specific books for specific feats?
Have you bought those books on D&D Beyond?
Yes
And yes, specific feats are found only in specific books
You can see what feats a book contains by going to its entry on the marketplace and scrolling down
The Player's Handbook and Tasha's Cauldron of Everything have the most feats.
Xanathar's Guide to Everything has a bunch of race-specific feats.
I have purchased both of those on the app
If you purchased them yourself, you should have access to those feats.
If they're being shared with you through a campaign, they'd only be usable for characters assigned to that campaign.
Huh. Might be a glitch, I'll try restarting my phone and see if they show up
I'd also suggest checking this page to see if your entitlements are in sync.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
If not, you'll see an option there to sync them manually. (Or you can just wait for it to happen on its own.)
Alright, thank you!
How do i look up a chacter stats on avrea from beyond?
It might be better to ask that in #ddb-avrae-help
Hi, I have a homebrew barbarian subclass with a ranged ability that requires a save and deals 1d6+CON damage.
I'm unable to configure it to include the CON modifier in damage: depending on the combination of action type/attack type options I use it either gives me
- Save, no damage modifier
- Save, +STR for damage
- To Hit instead of Save, +CON for damage
Is there a way to get what I need?
you can create a custom action on the sheet that does that
just input whatever you want for the damage type, save type, etc
in fact, a subclass feature with an action set up the same way appears to work fine. just make sure you give it time to update, as changes can take like 15 min
no, I see the updates right away (it's unusually quick today), it just doesn't work
type: general, no attack range set
changed type to spell, no other changes (should be +4, is +1)
note that the save DC reflects it when I switch CON to another ability in the action settings, it just doesn't apply to damage
now, when I add attack range (Ranged), when using any action type, it finally picks up CON for damage, but then it also forces the to hit button
I don’t think you can do that within the subclass itself.
But you can add a bonus to it directly from the character sheet.
I know, that's what I did, but it looks like a bug
I would assume it's designed this way if not for that +1 - where is that coming from? I have not selected STR in any element of that action, feature, or even the subclass (I've created a new for testing, with nothing but this action), the action is not marked as a melee attack (to default to STR), and the subclass is marked with CON as a spellcasting ability; something's overriding it implicitly
is it defaulting to STR just because it's a barbarian? I know it's STR for sure, cause I created a test character with differenet mods for each ability
Is there any way to make a attack deal fe a extra 1d8 damage if you have a wepon that isn’t ofishal ?
You can create a custom attack action on the character sheet front-end using the Manage Custom button to the right of the list of Actions.
@fallen sleet This is the appropriate channel for questions about D&D Beyond
To answer your question, no, the website currently has no filter or reader for just owned contetn at this time
hi anyone free for a couple questions about beyond?
so a online friend showed me beyond never played dnd before we trying to start a campaign but i also wanna play it irl my friends made some chars i wanna try buying an adventure but worried if we would use the skills of the campaign of my friend also all the cards i saw on previews like status quests and companions can they be aplied via beyond? its gonna be my first irl one and the virtual one started a week ago so idk if im doing wrong on suscribing to dnd and buying the adventure when friend only has sourcebooks and if i will be able to use that for irl or would have to buy physical books
Sorry, could you clarify what you mean by "the skills of the campaign"? And what cards are you referring to?
im very new so xD
i guess the thingies from sourcebooks from what i understood? idk classes?
Are you trying to say you've already got paper character sheets, and you want to recreate those characters on D&D Beyond?
we made our chars with a friend online in hes beyond to get an idea but instead of trying to play completly physical cause i couldnt buy find the book of the aventure irl
i wanna see if i can buy it for my self
and still use the chars we made on my friend beyond for a dif campaign
with an adventure i buy
our accs are all new i would also pay the subscription but idk if it mixes up considering friendo helped on hes account to make those chars
So you want to transfer an existing character to another campaign?
yush i wanna try dm a simpler guided adventure with those friends
and idk both if i can if i have to buy etc..
You'd need to remove that character from the existing campaign. Then get the invite link for the new campaign, and you'll be able to select that character to add.
even if i dont have the classes for the new campaign can they keep it?
and aside from that how quests and companion from beyond books work inside beyond do i have to print it or something?
All but one class (artificer) is available for free as part of the Basic Rules.
But regardless, anything already assigned to your characters would remain there.
and as for the adventure ? i bough the errr
guidebooks physical versions i dont have to buy those again right? we can use physical ones
You can use the physical ones, yes.
If there's any character options in that book that you want to use, you could add them as homebrew using your physical book as a reference.
Or you can buy those character options individually, rather than buying the full book.
nah i bough only the err dm handbook player handbook and monster handbook
this the one i wanna buy
If you want to share any purchased character options with your group, someone in the group would need to get a Master Tier subscription and enable Content Sharing for the campaign.
whats purchased character options
Once that's enabled, any game content purchased by anyone in the group gets shared with everyone else.
and im buying the master subscription
Subclasses, spells, feats, magic items, etc.
hmm so if they transfered from my friend account who has all that
we wont have access to all that
Anything already on the character sheets will still be there.
If it gets removed from the character sheet, you wouldn't be able to add it back without access to the thing itself.
hmmm
another question for a further moment does the legendary bundle include everything or what includes
im considering saving up for it
how do the companions and quest work in the beyond ui?
Any money you spend, though, gets credited upwards.
So if you buy, say, a subclass, then the book that contains that subclass gets discounted based on how much you spent.
If you buy a book, the same goes for any bundle that contains that book.
So you can get the books you want now and the legendary bundle gets cheaper.
then could u guide me through what i have to buy to start? with current one i kinda know what everyone of my players want
Anything in the Basic Rules is already available for free.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules
Whatever else you want to get is up to you.
druid geaker subclass is included?
If you're looking for character options, then the books that will get you the most bang for your buck would be:
- The Player's Handbook
- Xanathar's Guide to Everything
- Tasha's Cauldron of Everything
- Monsters of the Multiverse
I've never heard of a geaker subclass. There's no official subclass by that name.
The Basic Rules include one subclass for each class.
For druids, that's Circle of the Land.
thats the healing one? or the healing one its another
I'm not sure which one you're referring to. 😅
All druids can cast healing spells.
And there's a number of druid subclasses that provide additional healing options.
me neither lol is my first time like they wanna main healer
#character-discussion can probably help you narrow down your choices there.
wish had a search bar for where are included things
i want to be able to have eladrin druid dragonborn fighter half orc fighter half elf bard and dragonborn bloodhunter
idk wich books to buy for that xD
Eladrin is in Monsters of the Multiverse.
The rest of those things should be already available in the free Basic Rules.
thx
Well, technically blood hunter isn't part of the basic rules, but it is free.
sorry for all question games sounds so amazing but in mexico i havent found someone to introduce it
You'll need to make sure you turn on Critical Role Content for that character before you'll see it.
how i get that?
You just need to turn on Critical Role Content.
There's an option for it in your character settings.
i guess since im transfering the premade i shouldnt worry too much this time since its already made but that is when u making the char?
You can turn it on or off at any point.
But it does need to be on to select Blood Hunter.
Once Blood Hunter has been selected, it will still be there regardless of whether the toggle stays on.
And as for quests with all honesty i found a pdf in spanish but i wanna buy the beyond cause dont feel like pirating XD
and i see things like this set as card those i can use in beyond and asign to players if i buy the digital one right?
also where some that said quests
If you've bought that book on D&D Beyond, you can add those sidekicks to any character sheet under the Extras tab.
im gonna buy it xD i was trying to decide wich adventure so i spend some time in google
and the ones that say quests is same thing then right?
Welp went for year subscription and adventure
hmm it took it for subscription
but says payment error for buying book
I have a huge question, can someone explain to me how I can add a character to the campaign? I already added one, but I want to add another one
There’s an invite link at the top of your campaign page.
You can use that link as many times as you need, to add as many characters as you like.
How?
where do I add the link to add the other characters if I'm already in the campaign
thank you
Just copy the link from the top of your campaign page, then paste it in your address bar.
I have created a campaign and my players have added their characters. Is it possible for me to "start" the campaign session as the DM? so when rolls are made, they see "DM rolls 22" etc.. ?
If you create an encounter tied to that campaign, you can set your rolls there to be publicly visible in the Game Log.
Hello, can anybody help. I have the dragonlance book on dnd beyond, but cannot find the Kender race anywhere on the character creation app ?
Did you enable Dragonlance Content for that character?
How do I do that spamandtuna
There’s a toggle in your character settings.
First page of the character builder.
That’s all I can pick from
Not in the Race tab. You need to go to character settings.
Is this it ?
Yeah. And it’s still not showing with that enabled?
Did you purchase the book yourself, or is it being shared with you?
Shared character options are only available for characters assigned to the campaign that’s sharing them.
You can buy just the race alone if that’s all you need.
I tried that, it’s not very user friendly is it ? I know I’m not the best technically, but it’s so awkward to navigate
Just scroll down on this page until you see Races. There’s an option there to add Kender to your cart.
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/adventures/dragonlance-shadow-of-the-dragon-queen
That works, too.
How do you give XP to a character? Can you do it in DDB or do you have to keep track outside of it?
First you need to make sure you selected XP progression when making your character
Then click the XP bar on your character sheet, and from the sidebar select Manage Character and Levels
Then click "Manage XP" from the Class tab
New question: Is there a way to take a character out of a campaign without deleting the character?
From the campaign page you can click on leave campaign. Example included
Hello! I looked online, and I saw this has been beaten to death, but I am having terrible luck. I created a homebrew monster, and I was trying to make the dice rolls so you can click and roll the dice. I tried to roll creator in the bar, and even tried the JSON format mentioned. I have not had any luck making it work. Anyone really know how it works?
Earlier this year we introduced a neat feature to the Encounter Builder and Combat Tracker, that allows you to roll digital dice for pretty much every aspect...
If you’ve got a specific roll you’re stuck with, you’re welcome to share what you’ve got so far.
So I followed that link, and it didn't help me too much. But for the sake of understanding how it works, this was one of my use cases...
Staff of Eternity: Melee Weapon Attack: +12 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 16 (1d8 + 4) bludgeoning damage plus 21 (6d6) necrotic damage.
By that logic, this would be the to hit roll, correct??
[rollable]+12;{"diceNotation":"1d20+12","rollType":"to hit","rollAction":"Staff of Eternity"}[/rollable]
That looks right to me, yeah.
Alright.... So I got it to work. No idea why. Maybe I was tired when I was doing. But now, a possibly more reasonable question. When you add a damage type, such as piercing, or radiant... when you roll the dice, it doesn't say what damage type is? Is this functioning as designed?
Seems to be.
I don’t see a damage type in the screenshots for that thread.
Or when testing one of the official monsters just now.
Alright, well thank you for helping me out! I really appreciate it, even if it was just read harder, haha.
I'm making an (anti)feat for my player who wants Narcolepsy, don't ask
He wants it to give him a Vulernability to Magical Sleep. How can I add that to the feat I have built for him that it will show on his character sheet in the resistances section?
You can't, because "Vulernability to Magical Sleep" doesn't work with the rules
Vulnerability means you take double damage from that source, you can't have "Vulnerability to Magical Sleep"
The Defenses section only lists damage types and conditions (for immunities)
I understand, I was told vulnerability just generally meant either disadvantage or double damage, resistance vice versa. This makes sense now!
immunity to magical sleep is listed as is disease or poisoned, in certain cases
like from Elf
You probably want to ask in #homebrew about fine tuning the wording to work within the rules before trying to impliment it within D&D Beyond
thank you, it's only for a personal game, so I don't need it to be publish-perfect, but I certainly do need it to follow the rules!
I shall review it and run it by #homebrew , thanks!
suggestion: give the anti-feat as a "You have disadvantage on saving throws against magical sleep."
it may not show up like you want, but it will be logged on the sheet under feats.
this is essentially what I wanted (thinking vulnerability to it meant that
) so I think I will just do that!
are my feat bonus actions supposed to be listed in my actions list because they are not there
What feat?
dirty fighting
Is that homebrew?
Was it shared by a DM?
Think it’s homebrew so whoever made it hasn’t set up the abilities to show as a bonus action
You've selected the wrong channel, this is #ddb-support
Ahem, sorry, i misunderstood then.
Is there any way to get both a physical copy as well as a digital copy in ddb for a good price, instead of buying both separately?
I prefer to read in the app very much with the indexing functions and stuff, but it's good to have a physical book available to borrow out at the table.
Thinking of players handbook primarily
You can buy hybrid physical+digital bundles through Wizard's of the Coast's D&D store: https://dndstore.wizards.com/us
That is currently the only way to get both physical and digital in one purchase.
Oh my goodness, €65 for a PH bundle.
I assume I get access both at the website and in the app if I buy only the digital?
Yep
Neat-o
?books
There are five ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full book from the marketplace
- Purchase individual elements from the marketplace (options can be found within the book description)
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from dndstore.wizards.com
- Join a campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
Is there a way to add Deck Defender as a companion for a PC character sheet? I'm unable to locate it.
I'm not finding any such creature, do you maybe mean something else?
The Deck Defender is the new summon for the Knight Card for the Deck of Many Things
Ah, yeah
Found it, it's not set up as a creature stat block so that's why you can't find it
Gotcha, okay. So using it will require some extra work on my PCs part because it won't auto calculate the PB + "Necessary stats." Not a huge deal I suppose.
Per the original description for the Deck of Many Things:
You gain the service of a 4th-level fighter who appears in a space you choose within 30 feet of you.
You can either create a character sheet for them, or build your as a homebrew monster.
I may do something like that, might be easier in the long run for me. We will see.
Does anyone know much about making custom weapons or armor with D&D Beyond? In specific I'm trying to make a rapier that does an extra die of elemental damaged based on the season/local terrain. It would be either Fire, cold, acid, or Thunder.
i would recommend looking at the Flame Tongue magic item to see how it is done
I took a look at that Flame tongue and it helped a little. Do you think its possible to create an item that allows you to set which type of extra damage the weapon does while wielding it?
I’m afraid not.
im having tubel with homeberw for my carter on the website
In what sense?
To add public homebrew to your collection, you'd need to have a subscription.
To enable homebrew content on a sheet, you need to enable its toggle.
You can also make your own homebrew content for free.
Keep in mind you're meant to only publish homebrew that is finished in some degree, not work-in-progress or incomplete work
to use one that some one els has publish
You've added it to your collection and have the "Homebrew Content" toggle enabled?
yes i have
Then it should appear as suitable. What is it, and what are the relevant details for the character you're trying to add it to?
i am trying to add a the blood dragon knight to my carter
which is?
a fighter
a fighter subclass? With homebrew content enabled on a character that is a 3rd level fighter, it should appear in the list of subclasses.
it wont add it show up in the coletion but ther is no add butten
in your character, a 3rd level fighter, martial archetype, does it show up there
you have to be editing the character and they have to be able to access that content
Can you share a link to the homebrew you’re trying to use?
ok thx that
helped alot i was cunfused
were you trying to add it to your character when viewing the homebrew entry, like from that link?
yah
yeah that's not how that works 😅
You simply add it to your collection, and from there you can choose it when building a character
Hello, i have a question. I purchased the PHB and Monser manual and dm guide physically a few years ago, do i need to purchase them again if i want them in dnd beyond?
Hello, i'm building a lev.3 Tabaxi rogue with the D&D beyond chaacter builder and when i'm at class proficiencies i get to choose 4. Skills: Choose four from Acrobatics, Athletics, Deception, Insight, Intimidation, Investigation, Perception, Performance, Persuasion, Sleight of Hand, and Stealth, but stealth is'nt in the choose list.
do you have stealth proficiency?
Cat’s Talent
You have proficiency in the Perception and Stealth skills.
got it, i've already got stealth with race?
I've had a d&d beyond account for 5 years but since i started uni i havent been able to use it. I'm starting to play again but there is no account registered to me anymore, any ideas what could have happened?

Hello moderators! I understand the rule about posting only in English. Can I make a post seeking players in English, as per the language rule, but requesting players who speak another language, like Spanish in my case? So as to set up a table to play in that language.
this is something you're more likely to get an answer for in #moderator-support , as this channel is for help using dndbeyond
If I join a campaign that shares sources. Is it possible for me to see which sources it is sharing?
No, it's not
If you’re the DM, you can click the Manage Sources button at the top of the campaign page.
It will list all the books owned by everyone in the campaign, including yours.
How is this similar to spore druid. At all.
That message sometimes appears when there's insufficient text in part of your homebrew which the system detects as an error. In this case it would be where it says
Manipulate foes with offensive Graviturgy
The specific error message that displays is a system limitation with the automod feature of homebrew
However, that will only stop you from publishing the homebrew, it won't stop you from sharing it amongst your players via campaign content sharing (for free)
I have a player choosing blood cleric. Their spell list seems to be including wizard spells as well as cleric spells. Is this a known issue?
what spells are they seeing that they shouldnt be?
So many lol. there list is at 130 spells at level 3 instead of like 30
and its the official version of the subclass, not a homebrewed version?
the official
I made a hombrew with it as a copy and that immediately fixed the bug. The list is back to just cleric
Wait! no its a homebrew one not the officail. I found out someone else had added it to their personal list and it got included with the approved homebrew
thank goodness it's a false alarm
that'll probably be the cause
Actual question then lol
If you create a homebrew spell and add the subclass tag instead of the class does it add it as “always prepared” or does it just become an option?
depends on the base class of the subclass#
For cleric
Yes, it does.
Specifically if you list the subclass in the "Available For Class(es)" field.
Ya I just found that out haha. I changed it to the full class and that fixed it. Also, apparently if you list it for the specific subclass it doesn’t matter if you have homebrew checked or not. It still showed up as always prepped.
Learned something new today!
Thank you!
Is it possible to make this go away?
No, it's not
been trying to get a character to load and been getting this for the last 5 minutes
Do you get the same issue in another browser, or on another device?
a few of my players have it too, i've got it working on my phone though
By on your phone, you mean through the app?
no, though the browser on my phone, i dont have the app
Can you share a link to that character here?
Yeah, I get the same error...
Are you able to access the character if you open it from your campaign page?
he's not in a campaign, it's just one of my characters
Strange. Went to check my own characters and got the same thing.
A force refresh seems to have fixed the issue, though.
(Alt+F5, in my case)
yeah, that's done it, thank you
Hello, i am looking for a way to use the command links to link a homebrew monster to my homebrew item. As I understand, the standard, [][/] command doesn't work. does the src command work? If so, what are the letters for homebrew? If not, what command or method is most effective and still be able to share the item. Any help is appreciated, I did see a source code command forum about it but I am not sure I quite understood the solution.
D&D Beyond offers the ability to link certain aspects on the forum in mouse-over triggered tooltips, such as magic items, monsters or combat actions - ex...
Tooltips only work for linking to official content, though, not other homebrew.
But you could use a normal link instead.
If I use the normal link, it is not shareable correct?
If it links to not-SRD (the free basic stuff) that is correct, it will no longer be possible to publish it for the wider community to use. Unpublished work can still be used within your own characters/campaigns though. Publishing is just for making it available to the wider DnDBeyond community outsid eof your games/campaigns.
Using links does prevent it from being published, yes.
Regardless of what it links to.
understood. Thank you for clarifying. Are there any plans to make a tooltip command to link to approved and published HB content or no?
That’s not something anyone here would have insight on, I’m afraid.
Nothing has been publicly announced regarding that, anyway.
So I'm trying to convert somones hombrew they made into dnd beyond but I don't know what I'm doing with the home brew Manus of dnd beyond so can somone help
What have you got so far? Where are you stuck?
May i dm you personally
I’m about to sign off for the night. If you just share the information here, that opens the door for anyone in the community to help.
Ok I took a brake from it ill post at it again when I start again
I checked several times and I dont know why I have this error
its 2,6,10 and 14 are the levels for features. I dont know what it could be refering to?
One thing to try is saving and reloading
mmm I tried that and the error is still popping up
Can you double check the levels are set correctly? Maybe share a screenshot?
Just from a formatting standpoint, "14th level" line isn't italicized, but 2nd, 6th, and 10th are
The text is different, too, which makes me wonder if this was all added in the text description and not by setting them up as actual class features.
@hollow jasper This is the support channel for D&D Beyond
I can assure you that normally it's possible to buy books on D&D Beyond from the UK
What issue are you having specifically?
One of my players rolls from dnd beyond are showing up more then once and I don't know how to fix it?
Showing up more than once where? The game log or discord via avrae?
Both, but they show up more than once in game log first
Can you share a screenshot of how it looks in the gamelog?
It seems to only happen to this one player
Do they have any extensions active that might be interacting with the website?
Yeah, that'd be my assumption at this point
Some extensions can mess with the dice rolling/data sent to the gamelog
All the players use their phones to roll so I don't think so
- Yes everyone can see the rolls and they show up with avare
2.styx is a lvl 2 warlock
I'd say ask if the player can try using the website, both on a PC and their phone, to rule out the app
If it's occuring for 1 player, that suggests it's something the player is doing/using that's causing it
Thank you for the help and I will try this when we play next time
if I’m DMing and using homebrew in my campaign and have a DnD beyond membership, can other players use homebrewed PCs in my campaign even if they don’t have a DnD Beyond membership?
No one needs a DDB subscription to share homebrewed content within a campaign, it's shared automatically without needed to enable anything
I see
can anydoy help with dnd beyond ? I am trying to add a extra prepared spell list (like a domain spells) I seem to be unable to
Where exactly are you getting stuck?
what about if you own source documents? can you share in a campaign?
how does the map thing in the premium membership work?
It's fairly similar to Owlbear.rodeo - just with official maps and monster tokens ready to go.
It's also mobile friendly/usable like Owlbear.rodeo
thanks
when I make a campaign do I need to have every combat encounter created at the start or can I add them as the campaign goes on?
You can add them at any time.
nice
also is there any way to see what DnD monsters do that aren't in the basic guide? When I try to look at them in the monsters list I just get a prompt to buy the story their in
I'm making a homebrew weapon atm, how can I add stunning strike, or a stun effect to it? (I know its a gross trait btw, the characters are almost level 20 and there is only a couple of sessions left so they are just finishing making some artifact weapons to kill the big bads)
Find an existing weapon that does something similar and make a homebrew copy to see how it's set up
Is there a current item that does that?
I don't know I'm afraid
Oh I was looking though all the modifiers but it would just be done through the conditions section (add stun). Its been a while since I have fooled around with this 🤦♂️
@modest pelican the reason I asked this question #dnd-rules message is that I do not see the plus of the magical weapon on the bonus action attack
It won't be applied automatically because the action comes from the feat, not the weapon and as such the feat can't tell if a weapon is magical or not
I see, thanks
You can click on that attack, then open the Customize section in the sidebar to manually add that +1.
I did ^^
can anybody help with dnd beyond ? I am trying to add a extra prepared spell list (like a domain spells) I seem to be unable to
What have you tried so far?
I dont even know wher to start dude
Gonna need more info here. What have you got so far? Are you using a homebrew cleric subclass?
Hello. I recently started using Above VTT but I have some issues. Can someone provide me with their discord or something??
You could try asking in #third-party.
I am trying to make a sorcerer subxlass that has extra spells given to the sorcerer (like abarent mind )
Look for a field on the main page of your subclass called Additional Specific Spells.
As long as you’re following the same rules as Aberrant Mind, all you have to do is add the spell names there.
So I'm trying to figure out how a player got access to a 4th level spell slot.
She's got 5 levels in Forge Cleric and 3 levels in Armorer Artificer.
She can't pick spells above level 3, but has 1 level 4 spell slot.
That’s correct, based on the multiclass spellcasting rules:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/basic-rules/customization-options#Spellcasting
Oh! That makes sense.
Guess I've just never multiclasser spellcasters before.
Would one of my players be able to use their own homebrew in my campaign or would I have to make it
is the dungeons of drakkenheim campaign set released yet?
Yes - Dungeons of Drakkenheim is available for purchase (and comes with maps) on DnDBeyond
thanks, I wasn't sure since the purchase description said "available upon release"
If the user creates their own homebrew they could add it to their character regardless of whether they are in your campaign or not. I guess the decision of whether your or they create it is a discussion you would have with that player.
Thank you I needed that for future reference
how do I access Dungeons of Drakkenheim maps in the maps tool?
ah nevermind the option to use those maps showed up when I booted the map this time
First set up a DnDBeyond campaign then use the dropdown to select the campaign. Once inside, you can then select maps from your owned content along with some free base maps.
thanks
I have an account for D&D beyond on mobile and I'm trying to log in on pc for the first time, it won't let me view my email or change my password so I have literally no idea how to get into my account. How do I view my info?
how do I get the choosing of a skill to work for a racial trait?
You use the same method as you do on your phone. D&D Beyond does not support email accounts.
I filled out the trait modifier like this; "Modifier Type: proficiency, Modifier Subtype: Choose a Skill". It worked in the tutorial video I watched but it didn't work when I tried it, what did I do wrong?
might just need a ~10-15 minute wait for caching
I managed to finally get it to work, maybe the issue was that I went into the creator with Milestone and not XP mode
since that was the only thing I changed inbetween character creation attempts
that would have no bearing on it
it may have just been needing to wait for it to update to the changes you made
i literally dont know what that is though, how do i find out
You can try whatever provider your phone uses first such as Google or Apple and then work through the other login methods.
I tried it but doesnt work
Can I make it so that dnd beyond doesnt charge me when my trial ends?
Yes, by cancelling your subscription
The remaining time will run out but you won't be charged at the end
so I have to remember to cancel in advance?
No, you can cancel now
but my time will run out?
I dont think i understand right, If i cancel now, i will still get the trial for the month?
thanks
Hello
Do you need technical support with DnDBeyond tools and services? (the purpose of this channel)
i just bought the Dungeons of Drakkenheim Sourcebook and i was wondering, where can i find it on the website
You can find the book here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dodr
thanks can i start a Premade Campaign with it?
Yes - the book comes with maps that can be used with DnDBeyond's Maps tool
so i can choose it under Premade Campaigns
oder do i need to create my own with the maps ^^
No, you can't
You would need to make a new campaign and then add the Dungeons of Drakkenheim maps
okey thanks ^^
Currently it is not under the Premade campaigns but you can create a DnDBeyond campaign and start using the maps inside of that with the maps tool to be precise.
thanks guys ^^
Anyone know how to use the map system on dnd beyond?? I been trying to set up a campaign for my son and his friends but having difficulty with the system. Is it required to use a computer? Cant do much of anything on mobile
Maps works on mobile
Lemme pull up the Maps guide
I've had 0 luck on mobile.
0 luck at doing what exactly?
I've just loaded up maps, selected a campaign, added some maps, added some tokens, and moved them around all on my phone
So maybe some specifics as to where you're hitting a roadblock might help
I've managed to add tokens but it's glitchy and I can't move tokens or select them. Plus tried deleting maps I accidentally downloaded seems near impossible, as well as added campaigns
Ah, well the glitchiness will be because the tool is still in Alpha and there's bugs to work out and optimisation to do
I'm able to move tokens, you just tap them so their highlight turns red, then tap and drag
When do you mean by "tried deleting maps I accidentally downloaded"? Maps doesn't have anything you download
With my luck, it's probably my phone
That can impact things
I have a bunch of maps on my phone, and you can add them to it. Since the lost mines of phandelver is not on dnd beyond I downloaded the maps for it but accidentally chose a few wrong maps.
Hopefully a quick question about DND Beyond purchases. If I just get the "compendium" content, what exactly is in that package? I know there's a sentence or two about it on the product page but it doesn't really spell it out for me. Do I just get all the online elements like monsters/magic items/classes/etc... in the book - or does it mean I get the digital book but none of the digital elements?
You get the "ebook" version only and not any of the individual elements that plug into the digital tools
So using the Basic Rules as an example (even though it's free)
The compendium version would let you access this: Basic Rules > Races: Dwarf
But not this: Races: Dwarf
Does that make sense?
It certainly does, thanks! ebook only basically. Subclasses/Magic Items/Monsters for use on dndbeyond toolset = no.
tbh I was hoping it was the other way around because I have a physical book copy but would like to use some of the stuff in my online games. No worries, I could always just purchase the items individually or as an all-in bundle per the product page.
You can do things the 'other way around' by just purchasing the individual items/bundles
Anyone know why I get these failure to load displays in the app? If I click on it, the image loads in a pop up but it makes it annoying to have to click to see if that’s the thing I’m after.
Say, this is probably a stupid question but I was wondering: on the DnDBeyond site's forums, how much time needs to pass before you can post another advert for a campaign again?
how do I end an encounter in DnD beyond?
im a little confused, how do i get booming blade, im a rouge but cant find it anywhere but saw someone use it on a youtube video, do i need a subscription?
Most likely subscription or You need a feat that can give it
yeah i found it i apparently have to buy a 30 dollar bundle, so instead im just copying the exact stats and making a custom skill LOL
I'm glad I don't have to buy anything I got Shared Content Link and just make my Character then leave the Campaign the Link is for
what is that?
It's when a friend or Someone has purchased all the content Made a campaign and shared the Link got the Campaign you then Join that campaign and All the stuff they purchased is unlocked and usable
Please keep the channel open for support questions - thanks!
You can learn more about Content Sharing here: https://www.dndbeyond.com/store/subscribe
oh ok sorry @eager yarrow oh thats cool thanks
Was just being supportive sorry to post here they asked so I answered
hello
it says that my acc wasnt able to be verified
"error verifying account"
how do I fix that?
https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/116817592
Here's my friend's sheet, @lapis geyser.
its not working because the scores are overridden
They need to remove the override.
I see. Thank you for your assistance. I finna yell at my friend. Excuse me.
Where does it say this?
You could also buy the spell by itself if that’s all you want. Whatever you spend gets credited toward the cost of the book itself, too.
yeah i saw that, that was cool, but i dont have my debit card rn since i lost it so i couldnt lol
when im going to verify my acc by email
Why is it when i clicked manage feat, only Grappler shows up even though the Campaign iam in has all the books available
Is the character you're working on inside one of those shared content campaigns?
If not you can only access what you personally have.
Yeah it is inside
Then check to see if your entitlements are in sync: https://www.dndbeyond.com/account/marketplace
And i can access all the Races and subclasses, i just cant access the feats for some reason
Do you have a link to the character sheet in question?
I need help with my character i want to play dnd online but im new and i dont know how to import it
Ah, it works now, i leave the campaign and rejoined it, i dont really know why it doesnt work the first time but thankfully it does now
I blame server caching - which makes things run nice and fast but means updates might not get shown for a bit...
Hi there! This channel is for technical support with DnDBeyond tools and services - where/how are you trying to import a character?
I’m trying to import it into roll20 and I’m just trying to just change the character sheet
There is no DnDByeond to Roll20 import. You'll have to recreate your DnDBeyond sheet into Roll20's sheet or use DnDBeyond to run your sheet and you just use Roll20 for maps/tokens. There is a 3rd party extension called Beyond20 that can capture rolls/clicks in DnDBeyond and send it to Roll20's chat but it's developed by a third party developer and is not supported by either DnDBeyond or Roll20.
how do I change the damage type of a homebrew weapon?
I tried to make a longsword that did 2d4 slashing damage and 3d6 necrotic damage, but it still just does 1 d8 slashing damage
this is the weapon currently, is there any way to add necrotic damage that functions on the character sheet?
Apparently some books that I wanted to buy just won’t show up anymore, I’ve tried the ‘restore purchases’ thing and everything and nothing has worked yet
Can you be a bit more specific about which books? Some legacy products are no longer for sale and have been discontinued.
Locathah Rising is one of them
Those charity offerings can only be purchased on the website, not in the app.
You should be able to get that one here:
https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/adventures/locathah-rising
Then after purchase, you’ll be able to use it in the app.
Ah
I used to be able to see them on the app and they just vanished, so that’s what I was confused about
If they were being shared with you before and aren’t any more, that could explain it.
Also if you want to use any special deals/offerings, use the website to purchase them. Mobile app stores policies and processes make it essentially impossible to offer time-sensitive discounts.
One person I play with is sharing One Grung Above, so I can see that
But I used to be able to see Locathah Rising too and nobody has it
I will do this when trying to buy a special deal, thanks for the advice
We have a player that created a character using a work email. She no longer has access to that email and doesn't remember the PW she used for DnD beyond. Is there a way to transfer her character to a new email?
She created the Character. The DM didn't in the campaign
They would need to contact customer service via a support ticket; they might be able to help them get their account transfered over from their work Google/Apple email to a personal one
- Tickets are grouped by user based on the most recent ticket. Do not submit multiple tickets for the same issue. This will push you down the queue
- The customer support team is active Monday-Friday and work US hours. This means you may not get a response based on your local timezone or weekends.
77072ca75c504cd78f7af1a808b2e7fb what does this error code mean? I am a DM trying to view a PC
You’d need customer support if you want someone to look up an error code.
Are you able to view the character in another browser or on another device?
I own the player handbook irl. Is there a way to register it?
There are five ways to access content on D&D Beyond that you may have in your physical books
- Purchase the full book from the marketplace
- Purchase individual elements from the marketplace (options can be found within the book description)
- Purchase a digital/physical bundle from dndstore.wizards.com
- Join a campaign with someone who already owns the book where content sharing has been enabled
- Use the homebrew tools to copy the content from your physical book into D&D Beyond. Note: Do not publish any content copied in this way, it is for personal use only
The short answer is no, there isn't a way to register a physical book.
Hey i have been making a dnd game and when i tried to use maps it says "Something went wrong!" anyone know how to fix it
I'm trying to create a new character on my DnDBeyond account; a Shifter. I've enabled Eberron content under Character Preferences, but DnDBeyond won't show Shifter as an available race. What am I missing?
Have you purchased that race, or is it being shared with you through a campaign?
No. Do I need to? Shifter is part of Eberron and I've enabled Eberron content.
Anything in the Basic Rules is available for free, but Shifters aren’t in the Basic Rules.
You can get them in here as either the full book or the race by itself.
So what am I actually enabling when I enable "Eberron content?"
That tells the character sheet to include any Eberron content you have access to.
So you do need that toggle on, but you also need access to the race itself.
I see. Thank you for explaining that to me. 🙂
Hey i have been making a dnd game and when i tried to use maps it says "Something went wrong!" anyone know how to fix it
Hello,
I do not understand what is possible or not to put in the source code for a homebrew creation.
For example, i wanted to add some checkboxes as spellslots, so I wrote this in the source code:
<p><input type="checkbox" /> <input type="checkbox" /> <input type="checkbox" /></p>
The checkboxes appeared well in the editor. But not in the monster sheet. When i inspected the element, i only saw <p> </p>.
What are the limitations of what you can put in the source code?
The limitations aren't documented, but generally if you don't see it in use already, it's likely not supported. For example, check boxes are not supported
Thanks for your answer.
2 questions then:
- how can we contact the devs to get this kind of documentation?
- Why checkboxes (i guess <input> in general) is not supported?
I don't know of any plans to provide such documentation and I assume that it's not supported because it's not required by the content entry team.
The character sheet already has a mechanism for tracking limited uses
Do you know if it is possible to get the information for a possible release of the documentation? A person/team/service that I could contact ?
The character sheet indeed has a mecanism for tracking limited uses, but not the monsters for spells. I find it very lacking to keep track of their uses during an encounter, which is pity because I find the rest of the encounter system pretty convenient.
As stated, as far as I'm aware there are no plans to release such documentation
You could make a post in the feedback section of the forum
Which currency are prices displayed in? Is it always American dollars, or does it localize?
It's US dollars
aight
I think the prices in the mobile app are localized, though.
yeah the app uses local currerncy cause it threw apple
just wondering if anyone elses dnd beyond is saying they do not have a subscription as i had just paid for it again earlier today and is now saying i do not have one '
Could I build a feat on ddb that can add an additional rage? In the server I'm running a barb, there's a way for them to get an additional rage, so I wanna know if it's possible to make it work on DDB
You could add a separate checkbox to track it, but there’s not a way to directly add to the existing ones.
This may have come up before, but I have a question about the Armorer Artificer. I have selected the Guardian version of the armor. My Thunder Gauntlets are considered simple melee weapons. However, when I use my Enhanced Weapon infusion, my gauntlets do not come up as a choose-able item to enhance, which it seems they should. Any thoughts? This seems like a simple fix, since they show up in my actions. Thanks.
they are not separate items, they are a custom action set up for the Guardian Armor. Also, you can't infuse them anyway until level 9 when they become considered separate from the Armor for the purposes of infusions
at level 9, the different parts of your armor become available for infusion (boots, armor, gauntlets or launcher, helm), and the sheet regardless doesn't make a distinction (due to back end stuff, as far as I am aware), so you'd still have to do a work around anyway (usually making a custom item and marking off the infusion manually)
If someone has time can they kindly assist me in trying to make a race on DDB in the Homebrew section (i have physical books/digital ones for the material just not on DDB)
hay i have a questing about my dnd campain if anyone willing to assist with what would be more intresting
can someone tell me how to homebrew a race that doesnt have the default humanoid creature type? im attempting to make an undead PC race
Have you looked at the Lineages from Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft to see if you would like to use them as a starting point?
Creature type doesn't do anything on the character sheet so there's no modifier needed. You just write in the races traits whatever creature type it is. See the fairy, satyr, centaur, autognome, thri-kreen, or plasmoid for examples
while i have the physical books i do not have them on ddb so i cant use them as reference sadly.
and it does do some things on sheet (as some spells cant affect undead or other types; charm person for example only can target humanoids); though i suppose if i just make mention of it to the DM they can have spells auto-fail to affect based on if it can target the creature type
thank you both for the helpful answers by the way 🙂
No, it doesn't do anything on the sheet because D&D Beyond does not do any spell targeting or automatic success/failure
It's purely informational, there's no automation tied to it
i thought that with the advent of the maps part of ddb that such would be tied to it; but if im wrong, my bad
Maps doesn't include any such functionality
I'd like to be able to add a custom action that include bonuses to hit and/or damage for a magic weapon (for rage and other things that affect to hit and damage). If the weapon required attunement, adding a duplicate version of the weapon for this purpose would not really work. Anyone find a way to do this without duplicating the weapon?
