Weapon choice is less important to your first win than to a lesser degree grinding out the mirror
And to a greater extent just getting better at the game by practice
If you aren't getting hit, even with lower DPS you can still win.
Spear, bow and shield are the easiest weapons to get your first clear with imo

I think one of my best memories of the game is just struggling at meg at first and then slowly getting through the fight more often, and then getting to Ash and learning that, and eventually getting through to Hydra and clearing

My Hades experience is pretty different to that; I beat meg first try|| and got to the second hydra phase||, next life I died to meg, next few died to minibosses with their armor, then I learned to read them and died to|| hydra ||a few more times, and now I got to ||ellisium|| 3 times in a row out of 14 attempts|| and am learning to read Theseus and dealing with the minotaur charge||
And I learned the easy way that picking a bunch of minutaur hearts is very useful|| for just tanking the hidra's second phase wave attack||
