cool characters, neat, creative mechanics, great dialogue, awesome driving physics, cool dystopian setting
yeah - so how about we stop relying on ubishaft's servers and go back to dedicated servers?
if it ain't broke, don't try to fix it and crap the bed in just a few years
especially on pc
🤏
i dunno - there are much older games out there that still have working multiplayer modes and thriving communities - all of that thanks to dedicated servers
and all of that for all of... 0$ spent by the publisher on server maintenance
turning off online for asscreed 2 is a weird choice isn't that the one everyone likes
yup
i'm sorry mr. ubisoft for liking your older titles
i swear it won't happen again
also - how about this 😚👌 golden nugget of corporate greed?
"Additionally, the installation and access to downloadable content (DLC) will be unavailable."
as i understand it - you won't even be able to download a piece of DLC even if you bought it
also this
"Closing the online services for some older games allows us to focus our resources on delivering great experiences for players who are playing newer or more popular titles."
nah nah nah - you can't just enjoy our older games
go buy our new crap
- sigh *
since we're talking about ubisoft again
i'm legally obligated to post this:
https://youtu.be/KwgR1DdukEE

hey @ocean iris
you just finished MGS5, right?
so 👏
are you going to play the sequel?
Metal Gear: Survive

Why do all series i love have to go down the crapper so bad?
like... come on - can't i have just one that ends on a high note?
just dont love things 4head
yeah im getting there
Step 1: Milk a series
Step 2: ???
Step 3: Kill the series when a product inevitably flops
If a series has a high note then the company would keep making sequels.
It's Peter's Principle but for vidya gaem.
well
they haven't killed doom yet
even if bethesta manages to duck up the main series it's still gonna stick around for 3 more decades due to mods and other stuff like that
but it's an exception to the rule
Music played in Metal: Hellsinger demo during the level Stygia after completing the tutorial. Music was extracted from game files until an official version is released.
Music credits to Alissa White-Gluz and Two Feathers.
Demo available on Steam - https://store.steampowered.com/app/1061910/Metal_Hellsinger/
Different variations of the same so...
God I cant wait for this game.
First was System of a Down now Arch Enemy?
Dark Tranquility too my god
It's only the vocalists tho. I think.
Aw man I just remembered Biomutant
first person in the world to remember biomutant
the demo was so sick
even the tutorial level's music was great I can't for it
it is
whats your score
I think we can all agree that sonic games have the best music
I don't think we can
Nier series is pretty high on that list for me
Ye
hoo boy
ok so they DID release the lineup
god damn that's a good one
wish they got Korn's Welch too because his voice is so unique and I want more live scatting xd
Talk about star power, holy
Heroes of the storm is a better game than league of legends and dota 2 imo
But it has such a smaller fanbase
Yrel makes me feel good
blizzard makes me feel bad
Dota 2 hammerlady doesn't give me the same brain juices as yrel :<
she even has a lot of the same kit, just it doesn't feel right
My favorite is Zul'jin
What's that I forgot
like, blinks or somethin
Oh
No
He has healing though
Really good healing
And he can switch to berserker mode
When every time he throws an axe he loses 1% of his health
But the less health he has the faster he throws and more damage he deals
High risk high reward character ig
Absolutely unusual choice for me
Also he can slow and mark enemies
hots is the only moba I've ever enjoyed
I used to play a lot of it
I like people that blink in, survive everything and distrupt everything
e.g. yrel and puck
Surprise!
spend ages playing abathur
ooh, abby is fun
It's the spider demon with very long range abilities right
Oh that one
yeah
the slug that just plays StarCraft while everyone else plays the actual game
I also played the one of the newest characters I forgot her name
With the chain sword
And artanis
Qhira
Arty is mah boi
my other two highest characters are ragnaros and deathwing
I wish the game's development team was more than just a potted plant it's really the best moba
Both very
Lava
Lots of lava
yeah lol
Cho and gall could be fun but I never had anyone to play with
What's your level btw
And yours
I can't remember off the top of my head but I think it was around the high 400 range
im just like venom snake but instead of shrapnels in my body i have microplastics
I was a Varian Main in HoTS
I used to play Chrome,Cho'Gall with a pal, some healers, that bush starcraft character and a bunch of other easy to pick up characters.
It's sad HOTS is Blizzard related but it's without a doubt one of the more chill mobas out there.
Raynor/Valar main checking in
I love degen simple a move champs
Hit a, move back repeat
Too bad it's blizz so i stopped playing
Just realized Thorr from FEH has the same VA as Persephone and Demeter
holy crap
i won my first fall guys match
last game was hexagone
i just griefed the very last bottom section
For people who played Fall Guys prior to f2p, was the game always so...Fortnite-y in its progression systems?
The game's fun, I just saw that the game only went f2p under Epic Games and immediately saw the similarities

Super Lucky's Tale is one of the first times I've seen a developer actively release multiple "attempts" at the same game. Xbox Game Pass has both New Super Lucky's Tale and its predecessor, Super Lucky's Tale, and it's fascinating to play through both and see they can feel so different even though they're basically the same game
If you're the type that likes to learn about game design, playing the first few levels of the two games back to back makes you appreciate how difficult it is to get game feel right, even for professional developers. Both games' first levels are ostensibly the same, but the controls and physics are so different between the two that they feel like entirely different games.
Blizzards legal division sent a C&D to the creator of a warcraft 3 fan project (that was made by reverse engineering warcraft 3) on the day of the 20th anniversary of the game
idk which fan project this is about and google is not showing me anything recent but if its the re-reforged one by insanemonster, yes they literally have a giant patreon link that is specifically for the project
I hate that Blizzard did it, but unfortunately they could very well be in their right to do so
It's just like Nintendo and their C&Ds
More like refunded
See - here’s the problem
The problem is that blizzard…
Made a good game
A game that people played and enjoyed
They made a product that lasted for two decades
And we can’t have that in an age of planned obsolescence
Don’t you just love it when your software has an expiration date cause by greed and not hardware changes ?
Oh it’s the best
i think that's why people still love games like tf2 and fallout new vegas
they were created pretty much by video game artisans, people who loved what they did and wanted the world to enjoy it too
the "satoru iwata making games on calculators for his friends" spirit
and while plenty of modern big-name AAA games have that same charm and sincerity buried somewhere deep inside them (examples that come to mind are half life alyx, outer worlds, deathloop) it's sorta muffled and constrained by being required by shareholders to make the funny line go up
i'm genuinely unsure whether i'm seeing this kinda thing more now because i'm older, or because back in the day big game companies cared about more than the money. or, more, they didn't have the big people at the top who care about nothing other than the funny numbers.
there were plenty of terrible cash-grabs back then too, licensed games especially
but i think the modern era has put some unique stuff into the mix like live-service type games such as fortnite becoming the new meta
either way though there'll always be creative people making cool stuff for the sake of it, that's why undertale and deltarune and hades too to an extent were still the talk of the town for literal months after their release
I think the difference is that the "indie scene" wasn't really a thing back in the day. The size of the dev team for something like TF2 or even WC3 was probably about the same size as your typical indie team now
Or I guess, to put it more accurately, AAA development as we know it now wasn't nearly as common. Most of the games we know and love from the era were some level of AA by today's standards

hey anyone got this month's humble choice?
if nobody needs it, anyone mind giving away Deep Rock Galactic lol
speaking of, new bundle
https://www.humblebundle.com/games/play-with-pride
Celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride with games like Monster Prom 2: Monster Camp and Coffee Talk. Plus, pay what you want & support charity!
im a little tempted to get it even though i only want some of the games/have some of them already 🤔
oh that's nice
also
"play with pride"
isn't that what all the twitch streamers have been telling me for years now?

oh wait, no
that's "sub with prime"
honestly selection could have been better but the monster camp and prom ones go hard
also
nice daft punk reference in that 2064 subtitle
lost ember is pretty nice, i need to finish it some time
We have a special treat for you this month. Something that becomes part of the great journey of many Halo fans is learning about all the stuff that didn’t make it into the games over the years. When ambitious and talented developers are up against the challenges posed by limited time and resources, having to […]
omg
New Arcaea update is terrifying
This new Cuphead DLC is the first release in a while where the spoilers popping up on my YT feed are really pissing me off
Tbf it is my fault for waiting so long to play it
me with deltarune chpt. 2, i did my best to stay away from everything somewhat related to it and within the day i had been spoiled for 95% of it
...i've beaten the final boss of sunbreak, at least, so now i can let my guard down on that end.
Would you have been mad over Monster Hunter spoilers? I guess MH and MMO style games I'd be a little less angry over since they're kind of built for the grindset already
But then again, not a MH guy so I could see spoilers being a big deal. I just don't know enough about the game to know what would constitute a big MH spoiler
in today's episode of "this dumb industry doing some dumb stuff"...
Thank you @BandaiNamcoUS and @ELDENRING for giving me this gift and congratulating me for being #LetMeSoloHer . I can still remember my first experience with the soulsborne series and almost quitting because of Iudex Gundyr in Dark souls 3. I'm glad I persisted and (1/3)

an... actually nice and wholesome move?
completely unprompted?
a move that won't even make a dent in their bottom line but will improve their RP?
what is this?
someone pinch me - i must be dreaming

Reading further into it, this story is crazy. He was found washed up on the shore
it's more just the identity of unannounced monsters tbh. not much, it's the same as having a final boss spoiled anywhere else.
I read he was found floating in the sea?
Read on reddit that there are usually a few Japanese tourists every year who die at sea near this island when snorkeling and end up on shore
Rip
what even causes those deaths? I know of diving accidents but that happens way below the surface
Talking about that got me muted on another server
Just what were the mods thinking...
As someone who does not traditionally like MGS as a franchise, yeah MGSV is pretty good
klonoa is out btw 👀
who?
KLONOA is a 3D side-scrolling action game series whose first title was released by Namco in 1997.

I honestly dont know if MGS4's boss fights or MGSV's are worse
Mgs5 had bossfights ?
So it looks like Facebook Accounts are no longer going to be a requirement for using Oculus products: https://www.oculus.com/blog/meta-accounts/
Today we’re introducing Meta accounts: a new way for people to log into their VR headsets that doesn’t require a Facebook account. When we announced that we would start requiring people to log into Meta Quest using a Facebook account, we received a lot of feedback from the Quest community. We took that feedback into account as we designed a new ...
I don't know if having a VR specific account is any better, but at least you don't have to tie all your personal info to your VR experience?
how about
DRM free VR????
like it's supossed to be?
VR should be nothing more than a PC extension not a console
The Oculus Quest line makes up some 40% of total VR Headset market share, so I'm not sure if the VR Industry agrees with that sentiment
You can literally plug a Quest into a PC and use it as a generic VR headset, which is probably as close as you're going to get.
Heck, the thriving Beat Saber modding community, even on Quest, would indicate that there's still a lot more room for off brand modding shenanigans in VR than there are for things like the Playstation line
I think what @ocean iris had in mind was…
Was the kind of a Microsoft Kinect kind of situation
:
Yeah - it’s a cool piece of tech
A great peripheral
oops yeah
i just want it to be a peripheral
like wouldnt it way cheaper to make it a wired headset
But that doesn’t really justify requiring an account at a company I do not trust AT ALL
i dont like how the cheapest alternative HAS to be online connected and wireless
like the wireless stuff just makes the costs higher imo
There’s nothing there that really needs you to sell your soul to the zucc
That’s how they make that money back
NOW GIMME ALL YOUR DATA
but i find it unnecessary
some may like it but for me it just makes it unnecessarily expensive
yes im a cheapskate
how could you tell
Unnecessary?
Yes.
Profitable?
You bet.
300 dollars is alright but
idk man
it's as much as a Nintendo Switch
now think about it
which is better for 300 dollars
a fully fledged gaming device or a gaming peripheral
Steam deck
steam deck is 300 dollars?
I dunno
I pulled it out of my
Dunno how much it costs
I can barely afford rent anyways
Steam Deck should be more expensive
And not worth it at all if you plan to use it only for emulating Switch games, as the emulators available are still far from perfect
steam deck's pretty good so far
my sister almost would have gotten one
if it wasnt for the delays
so we just got her a pre build
and I swapped the stock PSU with an actually safe one
prebuilds literally use the least safe PSU's to drive down costs
like you never find a prebuild that has a good CPU and a good GPU
I got one for her that had a GTX 1650 and a Ryzen 3 2nd gen I think
she plays Valorant Minecraft and Roblox so im not expecting her to need more
But yeah general advice when buying a prebuild, ALWAYS, get a safe PSU from Corsair or Seasonic (2 of the best PSU manufacturers) and swap it out
imo the minimum is 500W but depends on the hardware
What Minecraft is she playing that doesn't use infinite processing power?
...I guess probably bedrock
MINECRAFT!
Where benchmarks are made up and performance doesn’t matter
I get where you're coming from, but, after trying both, having a VR Headset be wireless is a quality that's worth giving up a lot for
Plus, I think you're conflating the Quest with something like PSVR. The Quest is essentially a standalone VR console that you just can also coincidentally moonlight as a typical PC peripheral
Like, its main feature is that you can buy games that load directly into it and don't require a PC to run/function, and those games tend to be pretty solid ports if they have counterparts on PC VR.
Unless you're playing one of those sit down look around type VR experiences, the wireless, no PC approach works wonders for making VR a lot more accessible for the general gaming community.
my friend just made and presented me a 15 slide powerpoint presentation to convince me to play maplestory
How did he fill 15 slides when the only point he needed to make was "it's a cute, chill 2d mmo"?
some of the sections are why he wants ME to play and not the others
the in game benefits from playing with him
what I would get if I do
it was pretty convincing
and I chocked on my food twice
from laughter
Um...is there some sort of ulterior motive that's making him put all this effort into it?
he really just wants me to play maplestory
that sounds funny I won't lie
I feel like there has to have been some free mmo that's caught up to Maplestory by now, but I'm coming up with blanks since a bunch more of the free ones are 3d over 2d
true
yes i was playing just the other day

they merged khaini server since the last i was on 😭 im so sad about losing it, but it got merged to elysium, which IS a cool name in any context so thats still a win for me i think
it's always so strange to me to see the mmos of my youth. like mabinogi.
Every once in a while I'll see some screenshot of ultima online and be like, "Yeah... I played too much of that...."
how is the Sega Genesis Power Rangers game soundtrack so bloody good?

one of my friends started playing mabi again recently too 😭
I want that splatoon pro controller but have no cause to buy it
finally
a good bundle
im um going to 100% breath of the wild.
my sis did that before you hihihi
once i get a wireless adapter from my friend for my 360 controller im prolly gonna mod botw on pc
all shrines, all korok seeds, all compendium entries, all recipes, all towers, and i think thats it..
oh yea
all memories
the recipes is unnecessary i just like cooking in botw
i like tormenting myself haha
also any chance i get an excuse to run around doing nothing in that game ill take it
oh whoops forgot all side quests too.
im taking a break from shrines right now to work on my korok seeds and recipes
I think the seeds are probably the worst bit of design in that game?
Mostly that there are way too many and the rewards for collecting them honk
Although I guess the whole game has issues with rewards not really being great
i think its fun
yeah i only plan on getting all weapon slots. all koroks is ridiculous
well im gonna do it
i think the korok seeds are kinda good design if you ignore the urge to be a completionist
the world is so big but you'll never have be starving for seeds
I think I'd feel better if getting all of them did something cool
oh also there's kilton's medals. those are a thing to get as well.
idk i like that you get nothing
but also i hate completionism especially if its necessary for something
still have bad memories from arkham knight
@gilded idol A bit biased, but I'd recommend Receiver 2
God I forgot about that game
Dicey Dungeons on Mobile dropped a few days back: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.terrycavanaghgames.diceydungeons
bruh MGS2 becoming more and more relevant
oh nice, another roguelite, just like XCOM

but why not
It would be too big of a distraction
Helo, I'm here after grinding a specific monster on MHR Sunbreak for 2 days.
Finally got one of what I wanted
...out of 7

buy it on something with a big display
trust me - there's a lot of tiny text in this game
My Hero... Racademia.
Monster Hunter Rise
i mean i feel you. i need like 21 of something because about 6 weapons need multiple of it
do you like hades more than fortnite
Slay the Spire's mobile ports are actually kinda bad
Not game breaking, but more like "you'll accidentally play a card you didn't mean to at least once a session" kind of stuff
If you're on Android and can stomach the ads (or want to pay the one time IAP to get rid of them) you can try Rogue Adventure instead: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=it.sharklab.rogueadventure
It's a more...streamlined game than StS but is infinitely more playable on smaller mobile devices
Also StS ignores sound settings when loading and then loads for almost literally 5 minutes
ah i love monster hunter. my friend pointed out that i am stupidly rich and we are now trying our best to work out where on earth i got all this zenny from. we have no idea
I made it to A20 so I don't really need to read. But point taken.
I do have the Pirates Outlaw game which is a simpler StS
But it's just not the same ykn
wait
you're on ascension 20?
what sort of mathematical genius are you?
Is there any interesting game coming soon-ish? feels like a drought lately

The only simulator game I've been able to get into is Accounting+
Somehow dude still managed to innovate his vids. Good for him.
Yeah Dunkey's gone from funny meme guy to voice of the community gaming essayist in a way that's always felt really natural
wow another reason to screw Riot games
i uninstalled valorant and their vanguard thing
then i tried uninstalling the riot client
guess what it doesnt show as an exe in the control pannel or uninstall window in settings
you uninstall it by deleting a folder
why the HELL would they do that
god i hate this company
yeah so my recommendation is not to install their invasive software
Any sane person should already know that LoL and everything related to it is evil and should be avoided at all costs anyway
I love valorant. Its kinda hard but you learn with time. I am playing for a year and i still enjoy it. I know riots games are kinda like drugs. You play a bit and it becames your lifes part. LoL is the best exepemple of it
eh i didnt find it hard
i just couldnt be arsed to learn it
also how intrusive it all was
vanguard and the client
yeah i had thought about trying valorant back when it came out until i learned about that
I was writing a post defending Riot after reading this thread and then realized I didn't want to go to bat for Valorant and League of Legends of all things
I think I've grown out of the whole esports demographic honestly. I just want to play games to have fun now
Although I will say that speedrunning feels like the natural progression from esports: All the satisfaction of the esports grind without nearly as much of the weird social pressure to perform
laughs in speedrun cheating scandals
wasnt there one just recently in sgdq
As someone who uninstalled Riot stuff 'regularly,' that's likely just a folder with shortcuts or leftover log files. They are harmless except taking up your storage space. I would chalk it up to incompetence rather than malice.
I heard that if you collect the rust you can use that as seasoning

it's okay it didnt fully go away but yeah

the absolute mad lads, making the industry better, one video at a time
But but I'm working brother
anyone play Curse of the Dead Gods? Looks kind of like Hades
I did. The gameplay is slower and less forgiving than in Hades, making it harder imo. You have to be precise with your strikes and plan attacks well, as you can get easily overwhelmed by enemies. The atmosphere is amazing, dark and dangerous, the lighting playing a big role. Fighting is quite satisfying, you can really feel landing the blows. Worth trying for sure, I dropped it after around 30 hours, conquering first full temple and reaching final bosses on the other two, a good worth for the money, I'd say.
thanks Tiank - I have trouble with Hades sometimes so I appreciate the honest info I might pass on it for now
I personally think the timing for things like parrying/perfect dodging is more lenient in Curse of the Dead Gods. However, you have to do a lot more of it because it is an essential part of the game as opposed to the fact that you can play the stay away game with ranged weapons in Hades or just hold a block button with shield in Hades and still be effective at combat.
If you have played Bloodborne, or most Soulslike games, the combat feels oddly familiar.
I have not played those type of games thank you Foxhope
sounds like a pass for me
Remember memory cards? Feel old yet?

We've added the revolutionary "Naive Angel Mode" to Bayonetta 3 so more people can fully enjoy it👍
By turning it on, you can play right in the living room without having to worry about what's on screen... we think😅

ok this is actually a really nice feature
So is this some kind of safe for work mode?
yeah pretty much
i don't think it'll cut down on the uh...posing
but it gives them all some clothes lol
while I don't mind it at all it would have been nice to not have to check over my shoulder lmao
I know very little about Bayonetta but I've been told they decided a bunch of outfits by, and I quote "spinning a wheel of fetishes". I don't know the accuracy of that statement
its not that accurate her outfit is mostly normal it just happens to get removed a lot
everything else though
maybe
Makes sense in context
trust me player it is vitally imperative that she gets naked to summon this bird demon from hell

how is an optional booba filter any worse than blood settings from other games?

one of the replies
Me when I choose to put a shirt on before stepping outside of the house: "I can't believe I'm censoring myself like this"
like - don't get me wrong
if it wasn't optional and bayo 3 would cut out most of the suggestive stuff i'd be angry too
even if i never played bayo - censorship in games usually makes me a bit
but as an optional feature?

double thumbs up
you wanna your bayo 3 to be as obscene as previous ones? sure - go right ahead
you wanna chill with it after work without having to worry about explaining to your kids what they just saw after running in? just flip a switch
My lord people need less free time so they don't put opinions like that on the Internet.
My man actually should go touch grass
Well too bad
Oh and multi monitor setup. Working on a single laptop screen is torture
Oh :(
Do you get free cold water at the cooler at least?
water?
yes
cold?

nah im joking, of course
it's not that bad
the office is nice and i'm working with a rather nice crew
it's just...
you know
sales and customer service
anything goes, really
it's a coin flip
Also I made this meme
Me: A bad card doesn't become good just because it's free.
Ceramic Fish: What if I give you 9 gold to take it?
yesterday this really nice lady told me that instead of sitting behind the desk and wasting her time i should be more productive and be sitting in church instead
Lmao
ma'am - i'm a non-believer
YEAH I CAN SEE THAT! she shouted at me and stormed out the office
anyways
viddygaems
Smells like a Karen
anyways
bayo 3 - i hope it sells well and keeps platinum afloat
i'd be a shame to see them go under...
...again...
after babylon's fail
fall
whatever
I oddly had a very similar experience. I'll type it out in #general later
Mayhaps I'll give Bayonetta or DMC5 a run
I usually don't like those games though
I thought Babylon's Fall was a SE title?
funny thing
i was recently thonking quite hard about giving dmc5 a shot
cause BOI
that soundtrack hits harder than a vodka red bull on an empty stomach
vergil turns the volume up...

Overpowered character in action
This is HoloCure
And the character here is Nanashi Mumei
Once you upgrade her primary weapon, you can forget about aiming
Fun game, tho i have to play in mute now lol
The music and sounds got too grating?
The same loop of the music ye
Yeah, I muted it as well
Do wish there were more music covers, but ah well, it's a fangame that's really really recent
I, for one, hope for more environment and different enemies
Dev is planning new update for i think august?
Just to keep expectations, new content update probably won't be for a little while! Aiming for August.
For now wanted to show some teasers so you can rest assured we're not stopping or slowing down any time soon. Thanks for understanding! (:

Niiiice :>
understandable, I still hear the music now after not playing it for a week
squints, vampsurv game but with vtubers, yall wild
out of nowhere, after like a hundred years of not thinking about it
i thought
i wanna play tiberian sun
anyone played gordian quest before?
like the CnC one?
yeah
is Tiberian Sun considered old school RTS?
im not well versed in these terms. it old, so well duh! xD
just learned that tiberian sun is freeware now
a bit a year or so ago. It feels strange? Like it feels like mechanics are just stitched together to work, but it lacks the feeling of punch when playing it. Maybe it's better, but when it was in EA, that's how I felt.
I probably should retry it now that it's out of EA
Same, gonna replay it some day
And God, 13 Sentinels is SO good.
13 sentinels poggers
wait, ea as in early access or ea as in ea. both are valid reasons
Both are just as bad
early access
How many red flags do you want in your games?
This game: Yes.
Open World Survival Crafting RPG Mobile Game with Monster Hunting
Idk if i just suck at MGR or the camera is stopping me from parrying each time
You have to move your mowment Button for each attack and press parry.
Ok
Played through Hack 'n' Slash over an evening as a backlog cleaner, and it's actually quite a bit of fun as far as Zelda skinned educational programming games go: https://store.steampowered.com/app/246070/Hack_n_Slash/
Hack ‘n’ Slash is a puzzle action game about hacking -- reprogram object properties, hijack global variables, hack creature behavior, and even rewrite the game’s code. The only way to win is not to play...by the rules! The wizard has mandated that everyone confine themselves to the village, the castle armory has started to forge weapons so powerf...

As a software engineer myself I can definitely see the game losing people by the end for how insane it eventually gets with debugging subroutines on subroutines, but for about 3/4 of the game it manages to stay mostly on the rails for programming newbies imo

Great game coming in 3 days
It has a demo
Ooh, looks interesting! Foxes are lovely, I always felt bad for them when I used to live on London, as you could see them quite often on the streets, scavenging for food during the night and they looked as if they were starving :(
You know? it's kinda funny both Endling and Stray come out the 19
Two games about wild animals surviving in a weird post-apocalyptic Earth
ok, so
serious talk time now
can i get some DMC5 players in here?
i've got stuff to talk about
I am the storm that is approaching
FORSAKENED I AM AWAKENED

I'd buy Stray but it's only for the PS5 if I go for a physical copy :/
fun game
aww
too bad
I'm awakened
I know nothing about Stray other than the fact that you play as a cat
So honestly great marketing can't wait to play
what happened
They purchased a company that made malware
well crap guess i cant play GTTOD now
Looking into it, the company that has been acquired is now producing ads for mobile
Sooooo not a good sign either way
Oh also the CEO decided to insult developers because according to him they must be dedicated to nothing except making money, only money and nothing but money
They're merging, which is even worse
Just the idea of insulting their own moneymakers is enough for me to not buy games that run on Unity
Unfortunately, that won't do crap about that CEO of garbage
looks like half the indie game scene is dead then
if people just straight up boycott games made with unity
lmao that wont happen, look at all the people who swear off epic products and dont include unreal engine in that
theres not gonna be any kind of meaningful "boycott" against unity bc the gaming community is wholly unable to commit to such a thing
no matter how old this incident gets it will always be relevant https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/331246206103584769/998281427470790687/kDPZvCdjUQRl-IkAorp5g6Lff9Jkd4LsTOU_eoeEWNs.jpg
you cant exactly just boycott unity
most indie games run off that
at least the ones i play
also how would it even work
it only affects the sales of the developer
Head to #h1-for-new-players and/or #h1-builds-and-combat for guidance.
it doesnt, is the point
anyone talking about boycotting unity is full of it
and, to be frank, doesnt understand a single thing about game dev lol
yeah the worst thing that will happen is like....a handful of devs might not pick unity next time
and that's pushing it tbh learning engines is hard
At most if Unity does go in direction of what people fear, developers may stick to older version of Unity instead of updating it to newer version, which has it downside of having less likely chance of working well with newer consoles or something. As of right now though, current actions shouldn't affect the ongoing developments and that's worry of whatever happens to Unity and what it comes with in much later time. But it's not like other engines don't come with their share of problems as well, just not as well covered on what they may miss in to offer during development.
Overall the whole situation is just a headache for developers to have and read what the company behind Unity or their representatives have to say about game development, with a worry of possibilities, but not certain fate of future of Unity.
dont worry about unity
they will thrive
in this timeline where mobile gaming market makes bigger profit than pc gaming
its we that are doomed
https://deconstructeam.itch.io/de-tres-al-cuarto
de tres al cuarto released for free on itch to celebrate deconstructeam's 10 year anniversary, i highly recommend playing it if you have 90 minutes to spare. the rest of the games they have up are also really cool!
waiting for alma to play 13 sentinels
oh my, me? 👀 but my backlog keeps getting bigger and i need to save my money now.... but my switch is a bit neglected currently....
you like vns or story heavy games dont you
i just started playing va-11 hall-a, so i guess that answers it :D
maybe your taste is like mine
If you are gonna play Stray
4.5 hours to finish
10 hours to 100%
Perfect for some weekend binge
Also Endling and Hazel Sky are coming this weekend
Great week for indie gamers
I bought that like a couple of weeks ago, I've gotta play it a bit more but there's so much in the backburner :/
i relate, i still havent played most of the games i bought in the steam sale... and havent finished one from the previous one...
I'm still with Sentinels but will leave it aside to do Stray
Gonna binge it
It's Cat Time 😎
Instead of being able to pet the cat you are the cat
Maybe some Limited Run in the future
The game looks is gonna be succesful so maybe you get lucky
the story is GOAT
Oh, I have a bone to pick with Limited Run releases
Not long ago I wanted to pick up One Step From Eden, I went to get the Japanese release, which was at half the price...but for some reason, the developer made it so only the Limited Run physical version can be played in English, not the Japanese release
Now it's either get it in digital format, learn Japanese or spend way more than 60€ on it
second option is the best one
Brain hurts
i dont have trouble with names, but i did spend quite some time in the archives, piecing things together
its great when i played it myself
then got my friend to play it and listen to them trying to puzzle out the story
was a real blast
limited run has their share of controversy, seen some people making vids the past year https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lS3ja5JnkAQ
Subscribe https://youtube.com/reallycool?sub_confirmation=1 Discord https://crymor.tv/discord
Limited Run Games has absorbed me for the past months as I researched the issues, complaints, scandals, and more associated with them. Every time I thought I was done, another issue would pop up and I'd have to amend the video to stay as complete as po...
i do think they have kinda lost their way nowadays compared to how they started
No wonder people groan when they hear X game is being released in physical format via Limited Run
can someone summarize what's wrong with limited run specifically
Haven't watched the video, but from experience their runs are basically glorified commemorative status pieces since they take forever and a day to release after the actual release date
And they typically sell out too fast for it to be used as a viable alternative to buying the game digitally
i.e. I'm assuming the scalping thing will be a reasonably sized section of the video
I only caught wind of OSFE physical release six months after the Limited Run release, and copies around there cost about twice as much as the original price
my daily dose of drama. ty
I spent the hour watching the video
Basically,
Shady inventory, holding out on stock, with potential channels to resell at scalping prices on eBay. They don't explicitly do it, just enable it.
Making scummy FOMO marketing, segmenting games, arbitrary editions to lure collectors to buy multiple editions of the same game.
Terrible quality control with next to none customer support. Their ToS is also extremely anti consumer.
Reprint "limited" editions. Claim some products are limited edition but accept unlimited preorders (lol).
Potential false advertising and hypocrisy. Claim to pursue game preservation but literally selling people Steam codes. On Twitter says that there is a disc for the game but it's only the code. After the edition with only the code is released, delete said Tweet.
The CEO is a slimy dirtbag narcissist.
General unprofessionalism on Twitch and Discord.
Oh and the classic video game trick, collectors edition to catch whales with trashy and overpriced junks.
Honestly can't say I relate
I literally have never owned a physical copy in my life except for 2 GBA cartridges which I'm 99% sure are knock offs lol.
All of my games are digital and I can't say I hate it.
I mean same
I'm not that bothered by it lol almost all of my games are digital anyways except for a handful of switch titles
just neat to have
Hades
Already owned :)
I'm looking for something turn based, kinda
black book is fun but very plot heavy but its great. it does have a roguelite dlc though i havent tried it
Surprised you don't have Inscryption on there considering the Darkest Dungeons and Ring of Pain picks
going for wildermyth and streets of rogue. these are quite good rogues.
Also Wargroove is pretty fun but is more Advanced Wars style tactics than anything you put here
lobotomy corporation is a roguelite @ fox!
Library of Ruina too, similar gameplay
ruina is GOAT
gotta do lobo corp first for the full experience
I've seen a bit of gameplay and...holy crap, are those not overwhelming to you?
Opinions on the Darksiders games?
The first one is Zelda for edgelords
2 onwards trends more towards hack and slash and is infinitely less interesting imo
Honestly Darksiders 1 is pretty good from a wtf is this perspective
Can imagine 3 isn't great?
The colossal new Attack on Titan Collection has arrived. Choose from a large cast of Survivors reimagined as Attack on Titan characters – or wreak havoc as a Titan.

Anyone playing Stray?
Is a good game, very good or a purrfect game?
i havent but i'll go with the third option
ruina? gotta admit the tutorial's a bit hard to grasp. after "just play it" for a few fights it got kinda intuitive
and when it clicks its fun. its like every fight is unique and you have to strategize for them, like solving a puzzle
quite different than say, games where you run into enemies you've fought time and again and just do the same thing every time
Library of Ruina is one if my favourite games ever
The game is quite generous at first, the first 4 chapters can be solved by brute forcing them so you can get a grasp into the mechanics
Lobotomy corp meanwhile is quite hard but so satisfying to get to
If you're looking for turn-based, Bug Fables would be my recommendation
This game has incredible Untitled Goose Game fan energy
did anyone say turnbased roguelike?
as of today, you can play into the breach on mobile for free with a netflix subscription, (and not at all on mobile without it) …
https://twitter.com/subsetgames/status/1549448068197654529?s=20&t=oyIM_7fZAS-ZLxveAYH6dw
For those having troubles finding Into the Breach in mobile stores, here are direct links until the search results improve:
Into the Breach with Netflix subscription is not a phrase I expected to see in my lifetime.
tell me about it. someone over there must’ve put their good taste to a modicum of use
Netflix powered Android ITB is almost worse than no Android ITB at all
As far as I can tell, this isn't cloud gaming. They're just locking the game behind a subscription paywall
yup
And I'd like to say what my first reaction was but the bot already shot me down once
Welp, can't wait for the crack
You can crack Android games?
yeah lol
its part of the reason why i'd guess a lot of devs make ios ports for games but not always android ones
very common and very easy mostly
Bug Fables
Fug Bables

Cat Cradles

Idk when Annapurna became the publishers to watch in the Indie Space. With Stray having just come out and Neon White before that, they seem to be going from strength to strength
Annapurna became the best as soon as they published outer wilds
Looks like Square Enix has released their new line of figurines...with digital counterparts at higher prices than the physical ones
wait those three games were all made by the same team?
EA killed Westwood Studio.
Yeah, Annapurna is Devolver Digital except less cringe imo
Both are still pretty decent imo.
Oh yeah, they both have a good eye for promising indie games. That Devolver Direct is just starting to grate a bit
I'm almost done with Iratus
It's kinda mid ngl. Not bad, but pale in comparison to Darkest Dungeon.
why is it that every time i come here the first thing i see is something like this
something that makes me
i came here to spread the joy of viddy gaems
good viddy gaems i played recently!
not cry for westwood and red alert
anyways
DEVIL MAY CRY 5!
i finally bought it and i'm in love with it

Love and hate?
but then i get an SSS rank and the vocals kick in while i'm stylin all over and i get motivated and then it's all good again
Between this and XCOM is a roguelite which one do you prefer?
i'd rather play TLOU2 again with my hands while playing RE5 with my feet
Damn
it's the kind of torture on the level of...

Let's not talk about Fire Emblem then

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, I miss those games
WOW
i just realized this thing has 3 mil views
Wow
Man, Endling was a sad game but it was enjoyable
I tried iratus but the whole time I could only think about how I'd much rather be playing dd
it seemed really easy? I got through like the first two areas with barely a problem
and the narrator isn't charming enough for how chatty he is
I'm on More Pain, but I agree, I think it's an easier game, especially for DD vets. Maybe Eternal Harvest would change that.
And yeah lmao, I let the audio played for 90 mins and then play my own music playlist lol.
for extra 5 dollars he better be
that being said
his DLC is the best 5 dollars I've ever spent
by far

not cool, my man
