So, Nyx doesn't change sides. In fact, the epilogue is very much a happy ending. Well, ending as much as a roguelike like Hades is concerned. But the game genre is important, especially because it's not strictly a roguelike. Hades from the getgo was supposed to be different: the devs labeled it a roguelite, technically speaking, in hopes of making the genre accessible to a broader audience. Pair the atypical roguelike genre (that can also be adjusted to allow for further accessibility) with a familiar setting (as well as various shoutouts through the fourth aspects of the weapons), and you get a very popular game.

Hades' narrative style is not typical because it never was supposed to be. And for what Hades was trying to do, it worked perfectly.

Yes and no. It was meant to appeal to the masses, but not because it's a simple story. Far from it. The story itself is very complex, with themes that resonate with many a person. And again, Hades is not a roguelike in a strict sense, so to expect to follow the rules on roguelike structure would be out of line. Then again, it's not quite breaking the rules so much as bending them just enough to create an enjoyable and complex game that can be played by mostly anyone.

In other words, there really isn't a need for Hades to follow the typical roguelike narrative when it wasn't a typical roguelike in the first place.

I’m more so comparing it to a standard story structure of like a film or novel

Where there is usually a big setback partway through that raises the stakes and makes things more difficult for the protagonist.

Without it, the story tends to fall flat a lot of times

While Hades’s story is complex, the story structure is very simple.
-Zagreus wants to leave
-Zagreus is struggling to leave
-Zagreus receives the assistance of Nyx and the olympians
-We learn Zagreus’s motivations
-Zagreus escapes

I think a more traditional narrative would add some sort of additional stakes before learning Zag’s motives

Yes, the structure is simple. But as Maryam pointed out, standard narratives wouldn't work well in a game like Hades. In Western storytelling, most narratives are based around conflict: in a combat-based game, there is already enough action as is, so to keep audience engagement, you'd have to lean less on conflict and focus more on other story aspects. For Hades specifically, I can see this has especially been well done with character development and relationships, with one of the more obvious examples being the complex evolution of our father and son duo.

Correction: modern Western storytelling, and even then there are exceptions, but you probably get the point: character story over conflict story.

I think it's precisely about context. Maybe with some many languages in its roots, English had to adapt and toss exceeding words, otherwise we would have ended up with 7 words for every word. Maybe it's because anglo/saxon/germanic are culturally known to be colder and more introspective that English doesn't have more than 1 word for love, just like indigenous people from the Arctic who have a lot of different words to describe the colour white, as it was interesting for greeks to specify different kinds of love. Anyway, to try to find better reasons we might have to look into historic linguistics and social linguistics i guess

But it varies and there is no correct answer in all contexts, Sword is quite nice casually for example

he only has a limited amount of field dialogue, once he runs through them it's normal for him to stop holding conversations during a run. either you still have some locked behind other dialogue flags, or you have fully expended his field dialogue, but this is normal

since he's at 1 heart chances are you're waiting for a specific conversation to cycle through

not necessarily from him, i mean, but due to how many dialogues are interconnected there may be something else you're missing

if you continue to have a considerable amount of runs with no progress i may suggest hopping over to #h1-tech-support and ask swan

It is timing based whether you get a perfect catch or not, however the fake bobs are mostly random, just keep in mind that you can't get 4 fake bobs in a row, so if you get a fake 3 times, the 4th is the one

so if you've never talked to him while wearing the plume you might not get the correct dialogue first, as the max dialogue requires him reacting to it previously

There can only be three fake bobs, so the fourth bob is always real if the first three were fake. And from what I can tell, fake bobs have an interval of 2-5 seconds while the real bob has an interval of 1-2 seconds. So if it takes more than 2 seconds, it should be a fake bob. Meaning you should look for the real bob within a short time after you start fishing or within a short time after a previous fake bob.

Personally, I just look for the white flash above the bobber and ignore the bobber itself. Some players have said they have better success when putting their thumb on the bobber to not get distracted by that, so maybe you could give that a try.

And what the others said here is also correct. Perfect Catches are 50/50 on being a legendary or rare fish. Any other catch is 50/50 on being a rare or common fish.

I've been reading through Mythos by Stephen Fry. Fantastic book, and the audiobook is really well done! I super recommend it, though I can't speak entirely to its accuracy to source material, except that I personally trust Stephen Fry to put in the work, and he references sources often enough that I feel comfortable at least with the retellings.
On one hand, the story of Prometheus is absolutely wonderful, the most dramatic and emotional version of it I've yet heard.
On the other, the story of Hades and Persephone is quite poorly done, with Persephone not even getting a word of dialogue
I'm currently on Sisyphus, which is giving me a MUCH more detailed view on him as a person, and really puts his characterization in Hades in a new light! He was not a good dude. At all. Very bad person. Did many bad things.
