Consider putting a self-assignable role into #readme-first which says something like "By picking this role it will be assumed that you've understood and agreed to the rules. Would be extremely easy to to set-up, handle and would filter bots out. The more advanced ones could still get past it but would get rid of spam trash.
So the bots could also not even see who's on the server (if roles are set up properly), meaning they couldn't DM anyone (afaik).

tbf it's not just a single server attack. if each server has a different way of doing it, it's hard to set a bot up for that
and most importantly, i don't think scammers are really that "hard working" in setting up their bots

For some people, engaging in communities online is easier for them. I don't think it's a fair expectation to be able to metaphorically walk into a public community and instantly have a rapport with the members there.
Different communities will have differing levels of care put into the management of their user base, as well

If you ask me, I think it's the general vibe of the games SGG makes. The games are kinda artsy, ngl, which don't attract 10 y/o edgy kids. As a result, people here are more mature. And then there is good moderation on the server, the no swearing rule just deters a large portion of people who aren't here for discussion but for spam. That said, there are many other good server out there, good luck finding them.
