Bastion is the most similar in terms of gameplay and I'd recommend it after Hades. Transistor has a kind of active pause during combat, which slows the pace significantly. Both have great stories and music ofc :)

Transistor is really cool to me because it can be half turn based, it's entirely possible to play without ever using plan()

It's multiple degrees harder and requires a very different playstyle but the option is there

I don't think I'd want to do the final boss without Turn() but it does sound like a fun challenge

Actually there is one puzzle where you have to use it but aside from that

I sorta wish there were a few more Turn movement puzzles tbh

there are the Sandbox plannign tests but like, nothing in the main body of the game

My guess as to why that is, because the main story can't require a certain build or set of programs to progress. The points that you can change your programs are spread out enough that it would be rather inconvenient whereas in the Sandbox you can change things around whenever you want

So any other turn puzzles would amount to "use your movement efficiently enough to reach all of these switches"

yeah I meant more just movement puzzles, theoretically if they were in the main body they could easily be bracketed by Access Points if actual Functions (eg. Jaunt is more efficient than walking, Get could be used to pull objects/more typical switches) were meant to be used. However you are right, not all functions are immediately available until very late in the game or even into a second run

And, I want to buy the new Album "The Songs of Supergiant Games". It's not yet on Steam (but they mention it will be).

But I'm wondering perhaps I should purchase it directly from the SuperGiant store. That's way they get all the cut instead of Steam getting a part of it.

With Steam it easy to download both mp3 and Flac versions. How does it work with the Store?

I noticed you don't create a User or anything. So how can you download the songs again in the future?

I'm mainly worrying about splitting the collection into multiple services ("Let's redownload the Bastion soundtrack. Where did I get it from? Steam? Store?).

I just bought the Sounds of SG soundtrack from their store. It’s probably going to be a shade cheaper than on Steam. Buying the digital version gives you an email of a 10-use download link to .zips of both MP3 and FLAC versions, so it sounds about the same as Steam. So as long as you hang onto that email, I think the link should be stable

I mean, the transisitor looks (by the way she moves it) like it weighs a lot. The only times she's not going slow is when she doesn't have to carry it IE the cutscenes. She's not a hero, she's on a path of revenge, but it's also a journey of discovery, the same as we are. And moving fast wouldn't be condusive to the story imo.

Bastion's the closest in gameplay feel imo, Transistor is swearing beautiful, and Pyre is very different in play but similar in narrative focus

I got hung up on bastion

It felt pretty old to me when I tried it a few weeks ago

I moved on to transistor and enjoyed it a lot more

Generally I'd say follow release order, as there's a clear progression that's more fun to experience that way. However, Bastion is the most similar to Hades while also being 10 years older, so going from their most polished title right back to their first could be rough. So I'd say Transistor-Pyre-Bastion.

Given the options, I believe Hades or Ghost of Tsushima are the frontrunners for Game of the Year. The range of emotions I felt while playing these two masterpieces were much wider and stronger than TLOU2 which dissapointed heavily on the character and story front, but combat was several steps above the average.

Question for y'all: how does it feel to go from Transistor to Hades?, I really want to play the game but I'm a bit hesitant about it... (especially that I only play the game using Turns() )

as someone who just came from Hades to Transistor

it's going to be fast, much faster than you're used to. However, your spacebar (or equivalent controller button) is still your primary combat tool (dash = dodge).

You'll probably like the bow and/or the shield, which will take a run or two to unlock each.

Basically:
Dash = super short CD Jaunt()
Cast = an actually useful Ping()
(sword) Attack = Crash() but way faster
(sword) Special = Cull() but less damage and faster

@here can we get 1v1, 1v2, and 1v3 speed clears for Hades? They all pick their weapon and aspect (alternative mode: it rotates each encounter). Each encounter is the same, but the rewards are different depending on the gate you choose. Person with the lowest score or who is the last to die is the winner winner chicken dinner. You have to pay 1 diamond to participate, and it pays out 2 diamonds for 1v1, 3 diamonds for 1v2, and 4 diamonds for 1v3. Optional: Each player gets 1-2 heat they must use. 1 heat battles add 1 diamond cost to enter but 2 ambrosia reward. 2 heat adds 2 diamond cost, but 4 ambrosia reward. (heat rewards are in addition to diamond rewards).

The group must wait for all other players to move to the next encounter. Rewards are not displayed until all players have finished their encounter.

Feels like borderline necromancy to reply to your message but a quick look at the SGG website's source shows they work with gatsby.js, which is open source so you can also use it for your project if you want. That does mean though that their website is a probably a custom in-house build, and it's very unlikely they will give out their source to you for a school project. If you're trying to code your website project yourself, nothing stops you from literally copying the output code rendered in your browser and using that as a template. If that all sounds like gibberish, you'll probably be better off using a coding-free design tool like the aforementioned wix, squarespace or the like 🙂

Hey guys, I just wanted to write in the Supergiant Games tab to say, I'm doing an art review on hades from an art direction perspective (I'm going to school for Illustration and VisDev) for my final in art school, and I just wanted to say, thank you very much for being so transparent on your process through the NoClip documentary and the BAFTA webinar and posting of concept work and environment designs on your various socials... It's really helping my research in a very hectic time 🙂 so yeah, if anyone wants to let the art team know that I appreciate it (or if they see this, even better!) that would be great. It means so much to me. And I've said it before but thank you to Supergiant for keeping me entertained during the march lockdown. I started playing Hades EARLY 2020 when my pet died and it got me through a lot of stuff, pre covid and current times. This game is truly spectacular and I am absolute awestruck by the art direction of the team 🙂 (and on another note, Darren's composing and VA work as well as Greg's narrative work, and Amir for keeping everything standing) You guys nailed this. I hope to one day when I get better at this profession work in a setting just like yours. I was just listening to Hades album and one thing left me little puzzled about the mixing.
In Good Riddance (Eurydice Solo) the 350Hz area and in the vocals about 850Hz area seems to be oddly boosted. Was this intentional or not?
I made about 3sec clip where I (exaggeratedly) cut 12db of 350Hz and about 6db of 850Hz to show the difference

Because Supergiant has been a terrific company that I want to support as much as I can. The household already owns two copies of Hades (Switch and Epic) but in order to use cross saves with the PC saves we WANT to use we may need to purchase a second PC copy. So might as well get it through the launcher that Supergiant makes the most off of, if we do.

You travel around a map in your ship collecting resources and friends, and you customise and upgrade your ship as you go.
