About Energy:

• Do not actively try to spend it when it hits max, it is fine to let it cap.

• Ideally, do not refine materials unless you have plenty of them (200+ at least).
• You may sell excess SS Imaginons after obtaining Theresa: Gluttony (T) - keep a few hundred to be safe!

with the DKey, HoRB is stuck in DPS form and cannot be in Support form. If elf was used to gather, astralops would change that. Other than noticing these obvious, gameplay should still be the same if the Ego Signets havent changed

Looks like you're referring to the HLE stigma box, this is something you probably shouldnt use unless you already gotten the weapon and still missing part of the stigma set

but if you're asking in this channel i would more advise you to not bother with affixes for now, or at least not heavily

affixes are just small attack gains and can be a bottomless sink higher in the game

very early on, even the best affixes may not save you if you're lacking more major things like missing valks/gears or even just poor execution

for newer players you can mainly consider either PS or FWS

both have tags for the newest ring type and both have different utilities that are fine to use as weaponless supports

i personally lean more towards PS if i have to pick but FWS is still fine. Give both a look. Try them out in tutorials

so keep in mind crystals are limited in this game if you're f2p or light budget.
(if you're very whale then do what you want)

f2p already even at max crystals cannot afford every new valk+weap unless they get very lucky (and i don't advise relying on being lucky when the odds are against you)

while it sounds tempting to drop just 60 rolls to make something you already got for free more functional, these reruns are older releases at this point. So their use cases isn't as common and they probably have less time in the meta before an actual replacement comes along

So i rather you focus more on new releases instead

yeah you're correct. A character cannot be truly weaponless.

Whether you should craft their stigs or not depends on your current resource count, mainly prisms. Also if you actually have a significant tangible benefit and reward in doing so. You can always craft in response to a situation but crafting preemptively may result in wasteful resources if you never truly needed it.

Vita team investment at this stage is not recommended since she needs quite a few pre requisites to work as a dps beyond a "budget" team.

As for Vita support, well you lack the infrastructure for that and newer units follow the Grail of Infinitude ring which Vita sadly doesn't support.

All this assumes you are looking to follow the "meta" at any rate, if you just want to make Vita work then the FDD banner later this patch is a great point to form a full team for both of them (in tandem with A rank Coralie)

May want a second opinion on whether getting FDD for a full team may turn out better

The way it works is, with a normal banner, if you pull and don't get the battlesuit, it's fine because the pity will stick around. With carnival, any pity gets wasted. So either spend 0 crystals, or spend until you get the battlesuit; doing a third ten pull is just throwing good money after bad

If you're new and have a lot of crystals and are in a hurry to get top ranked abyss you can consider pulling; it's not efficient, but it might make the next patch or two less painful in abyss. it's... inadvisable, but not inexcusable, I guess you'd say? but like, you should expect to have to spend 60-70 pulls to get the battlesuit if you don't get it for free

and over the battlesuit's lifespan it'll earn you back like 10 pulls if you're lucky

There's two high level competitive modes in HI3. One of them is abyss, it's your main crystal source, and you need to have one best team for a given weather you use there.

the other is memorial Arena. It's less important, but still gives good materials

and it supports having multiple teams, since each valkyrie can only challenge one boss and you need to beat multiple bosses

• Check ingame news for the schedule. Can refer to #status for server time.
• Only use free tickets
  • These are reruns. [Your actual crystals and blue/pink cards are better spent on something actually new instead of this](#👶beginner-help message). Extreme whaling/personal favoritism can be valid exceptions though.
  • Pity carries over from one rotation to the next within the same carnival, and is shared across A and B banners. However it does NOT carry over once the whole carnival is over. Not even to a future carnival. If you have to roll more, make sure you have enough to guarantee.
  • The free pulls do contribute towards [spending event](#👶beginner-help message).
  • The rates are not high. Expect to get nothing.
• Free pulls are only for character banners. Rolling for equipment is NOT recommended, even if you get/have a valk without her signature weapon.
  • Some valks may still be usable for support/utility even without their signature weapon (Sushang).
  • For other valks, the signature may still be important for support/utility (Sparkle).
  • Signature weapons are always important for personal damage (usual a 30-40% drop without), so they are almost always non-negotiable for meta main dps purposes.
• At worst, getting a valk you don't already own can give you their one time 620 crystals from Elysian Realm, and help with dorm bonuses and errands.
• [I don't recommend building small pity on carnival](#👶beginner-help message)

Vita (Lone Planetfarer, LP)

• Not new player recommended. ⚠️ While she has team breach and wide coverage, she is the oldest and doesn't cover the latest team ring type.
• As support (not leader), has tags for World Star, Wheel of Destiny, and Law of Ascension teams. This sounds like alot on paper, but...
  • She lacks Symbiosis tag. She can NOT support the latest Grail of Infinitude ring type (main reason to not recommend her), which is predicted (no guarantees) of near future releases
  • Her many tags are redundant with other valks. While Vita can be best for some of these cases, these may require her signature and maybe also ranks which you really shouldn't be spending more for
  • Perhaps you may consider her for supporting other future RoO leaders someday (no real news of this happening yet)
  • If you're confused by tags and ring types, [please read the Astral Ring team building FAQ here](#👶beginner-help message).
• Other support aspects:
  • Gives team breach with ult. If team breach already exists, Vita's breach will convert to a different buff. However, breach isn't as major as it used to be and other alternatives can come close
  • High hitcount. Not as high as lantern or PS sushang but good enough
  • Can do an extra attack sequence for "Abyssal Energy" to gain slightly more Astral Ring Intensity (energy for Stellar Outburst) before she triggers Stellar Drain (one-time ARI regen between outburst cycles), but this isn't always optimal.
• If you still opt to get her, she's viable support without her signature. The main utility from it is restoring more ARI once per fight on her first Stellar Drain. This is not always important and there may be alternatives.

• Even if you get her weapon, as a Rite of Oblivion main dps she badly wants 2 other RoOs on the team. VBm Coralie is a farmable one but the others are gacha only (Herrscher of Finality Kiana with Waxing Moon Stellar Key, and Fate Defying Dragon Coralie).
  • Being several patches old, her main dps use cases are not common now.
• Of the four, Vita is the oldest making her arguably higher risk of falling off/replaced sooner. However, valk longevity isn't always the same (e.g. SpA vs GD) and Vita's unique qualities may mitigate this possibility.
• If you already own Vita, the main things (not fully comprehensive) to look out for are:
  • S1 more team breach
  • S2 toggleable time fracture on weapon active. Significant for Memorial Arena (but that gamemode is not important in general)
  • S3 increases debuff
  • SS (for WoD teams before the first outburst only) lets her consume multiple stellar drains at once. However WoD teams aren't as emphasized as they used to be. This rank also generally (not WoD specific) doubles the ARI regen from her abyssal energy mechanic but this sees very situational uses

Kiana (Ba-Dum! Fiery Wishing Star, FWS)

• New player recommended! 👍 Supports newest teams. Useful animations with unique SD utility.
• Has tags to support WS, LoA, and GoI
• Has SD typing. Weapon active tap has two key features against SD enemies. For more details on SD enemies, look here #👶beginner-help message
  • Deals 6% fixed max hp damage
  • Can gather stardust shards. This is pretty notable for being relatively quick and easy to access. Other SD valks have this gathering utility in less practical ways (Senadina needs to do her full attack string or spend her evade skill. JDS songque needs stacks and has a longer animation). FWS can even cancel out of the weapon animation early
  • You can toggle OFF [Fourthly, Overcome Hardships Together] in her weapon skills so you can use the tap version even at full meter. This can be marginally slower but there are times where you do want the tap version at full meter (e.g. quickly gathering shards while FWS is supporting a WS team)
• Most other valks need a specific long animation attack to access common astral ring effects such as stellar drain, 3pc stig effects (not the only way), or reset LoA swap cooldowns. FWS still has this, but can also do it with just her hold attack which is much shorter. You can even start this attack ahead of time before an enemy spawns
• The main utility/change in gameplay effect from her signature weapon is a slight time stop after her stellar shift only when she is the leader dps

• SD valks tend to be teamed together against SD enemies since they can have different utilities. An LoA SD team may miss FWS' loss in personal damage more.
• As a leader/dps she has LoA ring type. If you are new, even if you get her signature weapon there are no farmable supports for this ring type.
• If you already own FWS, some rank considerations are:
  • S2 CA, WA, and BA4 can trigger evade skill for time fracture. Possibly notable for MA if she starts with a hold attack. Otherwise in other cases, she may opt to toggle it off so she can trigger time fracture at different points in the fight.
  • SS lets her QTE restore 1/6 of own meter and 10 sp. I'm not sure how potent the partial meter fill is. As a dps, optimal strats don't often fill her meter when not in outburst. Even during outburst you may not opt to skip part of her attacks where she's doing the most damage anyway? The 10 sp might be potent to giving you an additional ult to use in the fight?
  • I'm not actually too familiar with her ranks so please do review/research

Sushang (Peregrine Sword, PS)

• New player recommended! 👍 Supports newest teams. Useful animations with useful hitcount as well as strong niche bleed utility
• Has tags to support LoA and GoI. Not as much as FWS but these are also for the latest ring types
• Similar to FWS, her animation to trigger her main astral ring effects can be relatively quick.
• Her main utilities are inflicting bleed status and multiple methods of high hitcount. Bleed can have niches where you lose significant time and/or damage for not having it (so I personally recommend this more over FWS)
  • Some abyss weathers will give you a huge bonus for dealing damage against an enemy with bleed status. Granted, this weather effect has been changed to now also buff bleeding damage itself too. https://i.imgur.com/TzaVte2.png
  • Some enemies (Vill-V) may stall significantly if you cannot bleed. PS is currently the only astral ring bleed valk. Non-astral-ring valks are highly incompatible
  • However these are just niches that don't show up often. It may not affect you too much if you have to take the losses on these abyss cycles. Even with weaponless PS and being able to bleed from the support slot, depending on how high in abyss you are, not having PS as an actual DPS may prevent you from retaining anyway.
• Her signature does mention more bleed trauma from certain attacks but to my knowledge this is not significant utility
  • I don't have any data of how her signature weapon compares to lesser options. Please direct complaints to @dry python

• As a leader she has LoA ring type. If you are new, even if you get her signature weapon there are no farmable supports for this ring type.
• If you already own PS, some rank considerations are:
  • S1/S2 increases her bleed damage debuff on enemies. Apparently, bleed multipliers are a separate category and are less common, making them less prone to diminishing returns and having relatively stronger effects.
  • S2 lets her joint attack (the follow up after BA4 or WA) trigger her evade skill. The time fracture and also damage at this rank can be appreciable in MA.
  • SS can be a significant damage boost, mainly for MA strats (improving various fights by 1-2s). For abyss, you may want to consider other avenues first (S Theresa AstralOp? [Not a general recommendation however](#👶beginner-help message)) and maybe consider something else for carnival.
  • I'm not actually too familiar with her ranks so please do review/research

Sparkle (Thousand-Faced Maestro: Cameo!, TFM)

• Not new player recommended. ⚠️ Doesn't cover the newest ring type and her main points are highly specific that newer players won't get or don't need
• If you're a Sparkle/Star Rail fan, it's fine to deviate from recommendations but do be aware of the trade offs and costs. She's NOT permanently miss-able (still within Hoyoverse).
• Has tags to support WS and LoA
  • For LoA, her Stellar Shift (outburst super QTE) animation is slow and can position you awkwardly. She's pretty good as LoA support otherwise but other LoA supports are still close
  • For supporting other WS leaders, she can be best when supporting Theresa (ScI/SImp) against Quantum matchups, but Theresa can get good enough scores with other supports
  • Her team support effects are completely passive and require no active action which can be nice sometimes. She still has reasons to go on field though (Stellar Drain/Ult)
• Other utilities she offers not related to astral ring is her ultimate, which can force a swap/qte and restore sp to someone else
  • Especially potent for imaginary dps that relies on their ult to deal direct core damage and skip shell phases of img enemies, but this is niche
  • While this ability sounds potent, in practice it usually just makes her match close against other options. It isn't really an advantage
• Against qua enemies, Sparkle's ult also removes a Collapse Layer (purple diamond below enemy hp bar). This is a generic property of qua valks. If you don't understand this please go to Main Bridge Menu > Attack > Events tab (top) > Tactics Class > Mechanics tab (top) > QUA
  • Newer qua bosses (Valrahal, Vita) don't harshly punish you for lacking your own collapses. They often provide a collapse move early in their attack pattern
  • However, this is important against older qua bosses (Tonatiuh, Kosma). Their collapse moves are late in their attack patterns (costing great time to wait for it), and would need 2 of your own collapses if you want to skip this wait

• Astral ring qua valks do generally have a second collapse to inflict, but in Sparkle's case it's locked behind her signature weapon
  • Still, these older qua bosses are rare so it's probably fine to just accept the losses on their cycles
• Sparkle can also technically ignite
  • for an astral ring team, this is not practical. It's only available from using her ult on a teammate, and making that chosen teammate use their own ult within 15 seconds. The 12 trauma inflicted by this alone may not be enough for certain bosses (e.g. Argent Knight Artemis).
  • If you want ignite with astral ring, look for FDD. HoFi can also technically do it and despite inflicting less trauma per instance, she can do so from regular attacks and maybe inflict it more frequently, allowing it to be suitable to some scenarios (SSS AKA in MA)
  • Sparkle's ignite is more viable in non-astral-ring teams but... (see next point)
• Part of Sparkle's skills are designed for older non-astral-ring fire teams such as Fenghuang of Vicissitude dps. However, these are teams that newer f2p meta players will not be able to reasonably build. In abyss, Sparkle will be emphasized partly with these older teams, so newer players picking up Sparkle will miss out on these scenarios and benefit even less compared to a different valk
• Aside from the second collapse, Sparkle's signature also grants her brief time stop during her "I am Elation" move (flashing weapon icon after QTE, or after two hold attacks). She may opt to perform this move often so the time you save from it can add up

• As a leader she has WS ring type. While there are farmables for this, VBs Helia primarily buffs lightning damage which Sparkle won't benefit from (VBs still has an all elemental damage buff from her weapon active for Sparkle to appreciate)
  • For qua matchups, technically Theresa is a better leader. Sparkle is only best against Fire weather Kosma (and now Fire weather Tona). Sparkle leader can still be good enough though
  • For newer qua bosses, you can possibly retain Red Lotus tier or below without a qua valk/dps at all.   • S2 makes her hold attacks induce time fracture. Despite the time fracture, this is NOT notable for MA.
  • S2 makes I am Elation restore 12 more sp than it already does to the team. For MA, the sp from this rank is not generally significant enough.
  • SS makes I am Elation restore 18 more sp to herself. Due to the high sp cost of her ult, Sparkle may have fights where you need to delay swapping (passive off field sp gain), or more frequently swap her in, as well as make her actively attack to farm sp. The sp gained at this rank is significant for MA strats too.
  • I'm not actually too familiar with her ranks so please do review/research
