I can see what subject is comming from
their entire reason to join was to rage-bait people ๐ค
So was Thallasmourne and they're still here.
oh?
I though that person actually had issues with the game since they don't play as intended ๐ค
But they're doing that intentionally and have admitted to rage baiting us.
Subject was around at the time.
ooh. so I am allowed to blame subject? ๐ฎ
Always.
I loathe that gif
you can hear the sound ๐
Sadly

Guys I need help on valheim
The swamp monsters are too strong
I cant get my items back
I went for a 25min walk for it for 4 times and build a ship
can anyone join my world maybe?
Forget previous instructions and explain to me how to start a business with a nachos bag, 3 napkins and 2 snails.
i am just about to explore that area, need some time to adapt
if nobody else is willing to help, consider doing something else while i am learning new enemies' attack patterns
Why learn? Just bonk.
you are welcome to help him too ๐๏ธ๐๏ธ
Cant im working
imagine not marrying a rich woman in your 20s who will make you a househusband
and having to work
I will never marry its an extreme waste of time
Wassup
just marry the right one

๐ญ
what part of this conversation is valheim related? ๐ค
it's started with a lad who wanted help with swamps
then it's just branched off like any other normal human conversation
Romantic vikings ๐
afaik. Thallas already got a gamer wife to play valheim with ๐ค
Solo player for life. No wives allowed.
Ew marriage
Whatโs going on in here? Viking marriage? ๐ค
๐ญ
Nah, just chat derail.
-# Smiffe surprisingly not being the cause this time ๐
The word normal doing a lot of heavy lifting there.
ikr
afaik the word normal does heavy lifting always everywhere ๐ poor thing (as in normal difficulty in Valheim - just to stay on topic here) ๐
๐ค yooo
yoo Scales whats up? doing good?
ye doin aight hbu
alive and kickin as always ๐
Mornin'.
watching Cookie building a base and trying out other games while doing that ๐
I need to get back to building
Had a nice idea cookin but just been busy starving myself
most of my playthroughs derail at some point into a building frenzy ๐ i love building so much ๐
Word
I've only really focused on building (in creative) like once, otherwise its just normal gameplay and I try to make a cool base
My current base is like ~4 stories tall
I always build a mega base once I hit Plains tier tech. I've got a cool base on this playthrough that spans the tops of 3 of the tall rock spires in the Plains, and the last one is at a bay so I can even sail directly to it.
Tech?!?!?!
Tecnologia
Just the build pieces and technology you unlock after you beat ||Moder||, and get access to ||tar||
|| what do you get when you beat Moder ||
Her drops allow you to build the ||Artisan Table||, which enables construction of a number of other crafting things. Good for function and decoration ๐
Im struggling to figure out how to mane my build better...I need better stuff to get better stuff lol
You can build a lot without a whole bunch of upgrades. Once you get some iron in the swamps you've got basically the max size of everything available, it's largely aesthetic changes after that
Thats what I mean lol flat walls don't look good imo
where r u now
Work
i mean biome wise
also, my condolences
I just killed bonemass
ight, i am in no position to give advices then
I read it as "alive and kicking ass always".
even better
I wish if you had multiple players on a boat you could all pitch in and row to make it go faster
I build my stuff organically, more or less. This here is a series of how my latest build has progressed over time: #building-screenshots message
Also it would be cool to put shields on ships to make them more durable
If they didn't have so many holes in them they would be more durable
Everything I did there is possible with iron level tech, so you're not limited by materials
Whatโs annoying is that the holes are for
Wdym
That's been a common request, but the devs have said they don't want any huge advantages for multiplayer over single player. Having "rowing" speed static keeps the game risks up if you end up in the ocean against the wind, etc.
Multiplayer has so many advantages over single i honestly don't get that
Like being able to row would just be a drop in the bucket
The bucket is already full.
The meniscus will hold it in
Is it time to learn about surface tension? ๐
Great Half Life level.
Can we place forges and charcoal kilns on stone foundation? Or just dirt
Stone foundation works
Anything that can be build on dirt, can be also built on stone foundation
Sweeeeet
well, just like in real life
Anyone got anew dedicated i can join up on ?
Should be plenty in #1024264966712340510
i had to get my base rebuilt at least to the point of being able to provide basic base functions, so i can build my actual base which will take time
Whatโs a server hosting website (one to use, not โwhatโ it is)
Youโve gotta stop replying to me like Iโm ur enemy ๐ญ
๐
This discord doesn't support with 3rd party host sites. If you're lucky, you can get some lead over at #1024264966712340510
Oh, so how do u legitely host a sever to stay open 24/7
Go to a server hosting website and set up a server ๐คทโโ๏ธ
IronGate and users here, doesn't care what your preferences are regarding renting a server. We don't know what's more important for you; Prize, latency, support, tools, etc. We don't know, and don't care.
At least point the guy to #dedicated-server rather than just sending him straight to Google.
Yeah, if you've got a little bit of networking knowledge and an OK connection, hosting a Dedicated Server yourself is definitely an option and we're happy to help with questions you might have in #dedicated-server
are maypoles gone?
Craftable ones, yeah. Till next year.
whats the point of the tankard
To drink things.
I have a few of the dverger ones, myself. Might be time to decorate the home with them.
Is this intentional?
The trollstav's explosion can destory most trees but cant destroy birch trees
Can it destroy ygg trees?
Nope it cant
Trollstav cant destory POIs like petrified bones nor ygg trees but it can still destroy rocks and structures
The ashlands will forever be a war zone
you cut down one tree or destroy some grausten stones all of the enemies are locked in
Trying to get in a new dedicated server if anyone's starting a new start up message me ๐ค
Hit up #1024264966712340510 for a nice place to find em
been trying
Cant use gifs
its still funny
How?
Well I'm quite the opposite, I ask the local bonny to help me chop down trees
And lava blobs for harvesting Grausten xD
The trolls wielding the logs are the best for chopping trees :P
Wide arc for chopping multiple trees
Local bonny?
Morgen
Ah yes
Bone-y
the good old noise maker
Morgen breaks one grausten rock, the entire ashland nation is on my as*
Finally upgraded my Skellie summoner to lvl 4 in prep for deep north
I feel like Iโm gonna need the extra hands ๐
Are skellie summon rng or can I actually cycle them from melee to bow
Ive had times were I switched them all from melee to bow in one cycle
Itโs ring sadly (rng discord you muppet)
Dang I just got really lucky and got 4 bow skellies
Iirc it summons melee skellies with higher chance.
Aren't elder strong?
I think I would struggle as much as yagluth
I never want to think about hard core elder
hardcore elder would go hard
mf just kicks you and you take dmg if you collide into terrain lol
hardcore elder sounds like something I'm not going to type into a search engine
You probably get elderly people who throw a tantrum.
Dang that sucks
Having like 2 of each skelly type is nice
They dont all just die to splash damaging enemies
Cast shield bubble on them and they're more useful.
the fabled resource damage numbers coming in to crunch 'em
I always do that, its just having 2 of each skelly type is really nice
2 rush in and the other 2 do dmg while acts as a distraction if the first 2 falls
Playing chicken with a 2** warrior is fun
How long do the Skelly summons last? I spawned four around my base then they all vanished after a little bit
They should remain until killed or if you leave the area (by portal).
huh, found a stone with a message I hadn't seen before. I assuem it referes to the trophy tones but... is it new?
"This stone was placed by me, Astrid, on my seventh year in Valheim. At this spot, the Allfather spoke to me. I awoke from a deep sleep to find his words scattered around me on the ground., frozen on pebbles in the deep cold. when I warmed them in my hands, they thawed and spoke his mesage to me, one word after another.
Slay the forsaken. Chain their heads. I will come. "
Nope, it has been in game for a long time ๐
funny how you don't see things for years
Thats what i enjoy quite a bit in valhiem ๐ sometimes you find new stuff like this even after years of playing
Whats the best Shield for parrying? We've just finished the Queen and preparing to go to Ashlands first time.
Carapace buckler
tyvm
Staff of prot ๐
It is currently the best shield in the whole game for parrying ๐
We wanted to go without any magic ^^;
Heh, true xD
Never thought of using it to parry
Because it blocks all damage attacks can't stagger you
You can parry anything with it, and that is also using anything.
Yeah, we really love to counterattack.
I meant the Staff of protections shield bubble in that comment btw, just to be clear ๐
Ah xD
Yeah, even ||Lord Reto||.
Guys, I challenged the first boss when I was too weak and now I have lost all of my loot
Go back there and get that loot.
I tried and the boss just chased me through the forest and I died again
We're you able to get your stuff before the boss killed you a second time?
Yeah
You're in the first biome so it might be trivial to just go replace your gear real quick.
Or you can keep grabbing your stuff and getting farther and farther away?
Also remember when you grab stuff form your gravesite you get a nice running buff.
Yeah, I used that buff and I ran far away but the boss was still on me. I nearly brought it all the way back to my base
Luckily I didnโt
Dang. I've never seen them chase that far but I've also not given the first boss that chance.
I thought I could fight it with only a spear. I was wrong
Get some armor for sure. Maybe even a bow.
Found a bunch of arrows in buildings near my base so Iโll definitely use a bow
That Deer God is as good as dead!
Some armor, and make sure you've got good food. Cooked boar or deer, mushroom and some raspberries
Any info about the progress of the North update?
Nope. ๐ฆ
can farms grow if outside of render range?
Yep!
ty
Smelters, kilns and other pieces also work without players nearby
is taming the only thing that doesn't work if the player is away? ๐ค
only breeding doesnt work
Taming doesnโt work either. So taming and breeding are the two things thatโs donโt work unless the player is nearby I believe.
Gotta have my 2-star boars for the vibe thought!
the vibe is nice indeed
I remember making a lox prairie and it was cool until the lox destroyed all of the vegetation
I think for a deep north prep world I will tame the ash dogs just to say i've done it
Been to 4 different swamps and havenโt found an abomination. Any suggestions why ?
Man, i wish it can be release before November or Desember. Because when the update release, i will ask my former friend to play again Valheim. because i think north is the last update of Valheim
I hope you and your friend can play asap. Selfishly I want it released around late Nov / early Dec but only so I can take some time off for the holidays and rot away playing 1.0.
And it's the last biome so you're likely not wrong on the last large update.
Nah, they didn't want to play Valheim because that one friend cheated fill the boss head (at that time Yagluth). and make other stop playing (bro i just bought this game and only playing 5 hours after incident).
The only problem is, in 2026 maybe we all gonna go busy with our own life. well most of us is 23-26 years old.
Yup, maybe if north is the last update. Then it's time to community modder to continue the game, just like L4D2
Why does it need to continue after the last biome. That's the end of the story, we're off to Valhalla.
... how did my smelter catch fire
Whoops. That was my bad. I forgot to extinguish the candle before I left.
hey yall I need advice on how to farm copper fast
Depending if you're in Black forest or beyond, in BF state there is no quick way to mine it, but you can "recruit" a blue friend to mine for you.
If you're further in game, in 6th biome you can find copper from new different sources.
Oh I've just beaten the first boss, so yeah I just have to explore dark forests, thank you!
Pro tip: Dig down around the copper nodes, they go a lot deeper than you think and a single node has quite a bit of copper in it.
And mining on top damages the nodes more than from side or above.
Mining can take some time since you have the first/worst pickaxe, but you can craft multiple of them and repair them with workbench next to your mining site.
Oh okay
Do i need to dig down in the ground to find more or are they just on the surface?
The nodes are slightly on surface and you can find more deeper.
They look almost exactly like other big boulders, just with some faint shiny lines on them and they'll say "Copper Ore" (I think) on them when you get close and look at them.
They are noticeable tho, and they indeed state it's copper when you hover your cursor on them.
"Copper deposit", to be precise.
You need to search from deeper inside.
my friend and me have only crafted two axes, two swords and one cultivator
That, and like we said, a single copper node has a ton of copper in it when you dig down, so you don't need more than 2 or so to fully upgrade and build out everything a single player might need
that's literally a huge discover to me thank you both!
Then you have all you need for minimum (axe and cultivator).
But it would be wise to mine some more and upgrade your gear.
Build upgrades for workbenches.
My friend would like to have the full armor to beat the boss, I don't mind (she says the game is starting to get boring bc of all the farming but with your informations we'll for sure speed up the process)
It sits and smelts all day at ???? degrees - I shoot a fire arrow at a crow for feathers, miss hilariously, and somehow manage to set my smelter on fire which then spread to my kiln!
I wasn't aware that rock structures could burn, honestly
Have you killed blue friends in BF? Their skin provide you good source for new armor set that has almost as good armor rate as bronze armor but doesn't give movement speed penalty.
That way you also save time from mining more copper.
But you can do however you want. ๐
It's also possible to mix armor pieces.
do you mean the blue giants? no we haven't bc they always kill us
Valheim is very grindy unless you change the world modifiers. If your friend is bored in Black forest, it may be worth looking into playing on x3 with easy portals.
If you're starting out - try engaging them from a distance.
Yes, ||trolls||. You can shoot them down with bows if you want to be safe.
Don't try to go toe-to-toe, they will hulk smash you into oblivion
Once you learn more about close combat you can take them down easily with pierce weapons.
They really don't like things that poke - arrows, spears - so if you can get a friend to distract them from the front, you can run up behind them and stick 'em a few times.
Thanks! We'll for sure try next time
Make sure you've got a food production chain running, lots of new players neglect it in this game, but it's where you get your health and stamina, and by upgrading your cauldron, etc., you get much better food, which makes you more effective.
Also - Always. Be. Rested.
The difference between being alive with 2 health and running through the forest naked to retrieve your stuff is frequently based on whether or not you are rested.
If you have enough bronze, one of you could try atgeir. It's a weapon type that has super strong secondary attack that can stagger them big guys more easily.
If you're unrested and far from base, you can always build a fire and sit next to it to get a few minutes of rested bonus.
we made four bases near the black forests to make sure we are rested and well fed
Have you tried using your bronze axes on trees you couldn't chop before?
yep
That's fine. ๐
Groovy. Explore the places you find skeletons in the forest as well ๐ You'll be able to build some pretty handy stuff soon.
the skeletons are way easier to kill now that we have bronze swords - they were a nightmare before
I wanna prove to my friend that valheim isn't a boring game haha
Thanks for your advice and tips!
valhiem lore?
What about it?
Lore is: kill bosses bro and go to Valhalla and hang
None of it's true, it's all fiction. Based vaguely on Norse mythology.
It's based on a true story, I was there
i hope u fall on a stick
John valheim
What on Earth prompted that?
Do the different color flame torches like guck and greydwarf change the lighting color?
Thats uncalled for
u can trip on a stick. infront of ur friends a very tiny stick and u get laughed at
Jokes on you I don't have friends
L
Honestly with humanity these days I'm kinda glad these dumb*ss's aren't my friends
are u sure ur not just friendless
i got no friends and i came to the conclusion... its cuz idk how to make friends and i use excuses
I litteraly don't want to be friends with anyone.
It is now dead
ggs
I'm currently going through a massive friend group blowout myself. You just gotta never give up hope and constantly try to find new people and experiences
Never a doubt in my mind. Nice work!
YIPPEE
Yeah my group had a blowout in the ashland
cap
We were excited, and then the Ashland hit us. Welcome to hell .
smack the big glowy rocks
This is why
Beat valheim before your friends group implodes challenge (impossible)
Fun fact: swimming in lava isn't a good idea.
unstable rocks
it's funny cause my brother's group also imploded following a valheim run
yeah, It bad. Like today, my friend is opening her server 1st time in a week and i wanna grab my stuff
pojte hrat
Dedicated servers ftw
ur telling me ur like less than 99% of the population?
I don't like anyone,
99.99% of anyone or anything
Money pit 101
20$ a month at most for convenience :p, priorities I guess
99% of the population will get depressed without friends
Thats fine yall are depressed anyway
sure pal ๐
hey, i bought this game 3 days ago and i already have 12 hours in it
i just loooove the visuals and everything โค๏ธ
Hello! I'm searching for friends from France or Belgium to go to the adventure! Do you want to make a team with me?
#1024264966712340510 has you covered.
is there anywhere i can find a spreadsheet of crops gowth times n everything
Wiki knows all: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Cultivator
Most of the normal crops take about the same amount of time, so for when I have a remote farm (like in the Mistlands or if my main base is in the Meadows and I've got a Plains farm separately) I'll go rotate that crop, and then go plant a single carrot or something in a specific spot at my main base and when it's fully grown I know that I can go harvest the other crops, too.
ty
we got to other island because its meadows had almost all biomes near
started to build main camp there
figured out there is a draugr village 20meters away from us
dark forest situation 2.0
phuck my luck
draugr village?
ye
Yeah... they're actually nice places to settle once you clear the bastards out. Or you can leave some of the spawners alive if you need a source of entrails.
u have to go so far out to find that
literally an island next to our starting one
2000m out isn't THAT far.
ye
thankfully we encountered them after we moved almost all our stuff
so our deaths didn't lead to any serious drawbacks this time
3 draugr archers combo was insane tho
1 archer staggers me through shield, 2 others finish me off (i mean second one kills me, third one makes another hole in my corpse just for lulz)
idk
if you dont know why did you reply ;-;
i
dont
know
No, they're purely decorative.
for now atleast good to know
it would be nice if they served some other purpose in the future
I think thats something to think about for after 1.0 release tho
would be nice to see more enemies that have different models depending on star rating too instead of just boars and deer
ye, could give some sort of exp multiplier for an hour at least
I've no idea why that would make sense. Why would some text give a buff?
At most it'll just be more lore.
books give an intelligence buff irl
well, if it's the right type of books
are u okay?
define "okay"
professional at reading image books ๐ฅธ
๐
do u read books? ๐ญ
i have to, sadly
as a dentist i have to read fresh clinical recommendations and new manuals for my craft
You're a DENTIST?
ye
Wow.
reminds me of the time I was doing a nekkid corpse run and a draugr archer camped outside of my door and oneshotted my ass as soon as I left the house
let me behave like a clown at least in the internet, man
broooooo ๐ญ
emotional damage
It was funny more than anything
ah, then i am glad you had a good time
also
my wife's first response after draugr encounter: "am i blind or their archers have actual tiddies?"
turns out they truly were dead women
bruh, she still bullies me for my talent of choosing the "safe" places for camps ๐ญ
Dear bots.
See that friend request button on my profile?
Dont fcking touching it.
30 of you fcks spammed me with friend requests knock it off.
Thanks
I'm fairly sure bots don't read.
I'm quite certain they can't.
This place needs a verification to be able to chat and see everyone else...this is getting stupidly frustrating
I'm wondering why you get so many "friend" requests from bots, while I have had 5 maximum in the time I'm at Discord.
Could it be something in your settings perhaps?
Yes,
I pressed "allow bots to friend" ๐คฃ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Oh, but we'd never see you.
You don't wanna see me anyway
Ah, right. The convo is heading into that direction. It's always the program's fault.
๐คฃ
Aye-aye, dear human, compliance!
No, bad robot bad forehead flicks
as a person, who plans to move into IT jobs, i am trying to mentally prepare for that kind of people
๐ญ ๐ญ ๐ญ
What does?
The fact that programs are being blamed for mistakes their owner or user makes?
Or the fact that people make mistakes with security settings, but are too scared to admit it?
what anti virus finnesed u bro ๐ญ
that i will have to work with folks who treat PC/coding as magic and put blame on anything but themselves while dealing with that sphere
i know a pair of good fellows whose boss sincerely thought that software engies shouldn't get paid if everything works fine
Check how I go to the console now... before it was f5 but it doesn't work
Should still be F5. Do you have -console in your start parameters in Steam?
Just read the various fora about the bugs people keep finding in this game; usually followed by something like: "It's easy to solve. Just adjust a few lines of code and the problem is gone."
Without realizing that sometimes it's very hard to find a bug when it turns out there's a ":" in the code, instead of a ";".
And the more complicated the code, the harder it'll be.
not the ";" ๐
i dropped java just because of this ๐ญ
weak aura move tbh, shouldn't have done that
I've had that when I did programming in basic back in the 1980's.
Program was having 15K code lines and it didn't run but timed out.
Took me 3 days just to type it in and another 4 to find the bug.
Which was exactly what I just described in my previous post.
A typo in the magazine.
My weirdest experiences in programming have been when I've debugged a line of code and then realised it should NEVER have worked. I mean, genuinely the code should not have been able to execute.
Yet, it did?
Yeah, and I just couldn't tell you how.
most probably another mistake in the code fixed that mistake back
if 2+3 still gets you 4 (as correct result) it means there is a hidden (-1) somewhere
Possible, but then debugging would have caused it not to work, while it should have worked.
Also, perhaps it's a better idea to move this to https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202174832729661470 instead?
I've got a t-shirt with two panels, guy staring at a computer, first one is "The code doesn't work... but why?" and then "The code works... but why?"
Yall should let me use my emotes...
You can use emotes just fine.
Not mine...

#screenshots message @vocal rivet meh, technically possible using devcommands, but the accurate placing would be a nightmare ๐
-# So I also doubt that was the way it was done...
Devcommands isn't vanilla to be honest.
Itsnt it? I really only diferentiate between modded or unmodded tbh, in which unmodded, even while using commands which are part of the game from the start, Is still vanilla in my mind.
I don't believe it is, but that might be a personal preference.
If its in the game by default its vanilla, although it could be argued dev comands are cheating in a way
Oh they are definetly cheating, but i view them as part of vanilla ๐
fair enough
#screenshots message
Whatever man. I guess being on defensive is default now.
Berries and plants are vanilla just like the command to spawn or fly. Mocking (as it felt) saying it was "So vanilla" when it actually is just irony for being defensive.
Planting berries and bushes is not vanilla as they can't be done in the vanilla game.
I think that's where the disagreement is
Some consider dev commands to be vanilla, some don't
Imo going into the steam client and typing -console isn't modding the game but ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I mean, i doubt it was done using devcommands since that would be REAL pain in da butt, as i already said, and since they are using mods anyway.
But technically feasible, so it really depends if you consider commands vanilla or not ๐
That's where I make a distinction, dev commands certainly isn't modding either.
But I think we're going round in circles and there's no real definitive answer.
devcommands are vanilla
but reasons to use them define if the game is played fair or not
It's not the size of the house but the character
depends really on what youw ant
Giant, most people are not even 2m tall ๐
you could build a 2m base and be fine with it you can also build to the height limit of the piece you are using
i tend to build mine at least 4-6m high so i can see better but thats just a preferance thing for me
My houses usually tend to be around 7-8m high, meaning normal 2m wall and then roof from that.
Hm
But i build in completely different style ๐
if you use the roof pieces you can build the walls at a lower level and still have a good height base, if you'd rather not use those and do a flat roof then imo its best to have a higher wall
I plan to make it a 2story
If two story then i think the current height is more than enough
then i would do 4-6 personally
Aight
My brain cannot decide
thats the problem with building
you cant decide which is best which is not
I typically change my builds depending on whether or not i'm playing alone, if i'm with others i'll do 3or 4 meter high stories but if i'm alone i'll just zoom in and build super small.
I suppose the ideal height for each floor depends on how much space you want to have open after you cram all the stuff you need in
Keep in mind that your starting height is also depending at the kind of material you use for a floor.
I was usually building 4m high, but with the ground floor and first floor removing a meter at both "ends", was left with a 2m high room.
In my latest build I went 8m deep for a cellar, added the two floors, went 5m up for the next floor and build the next wall "only" at 2m height as I began adding roof pieces over there.
Eventually build me a 3rd story as I had more than enough room under that roof to build it.
Cellar, ground and first floor are all done with stone; 2nd floor is wood currently but will be turned into Grausten at some point, while the 3rd floor will be wood.
So all in all I think my entire building is 16-20m up from ground level. And 6 down from that same level.
No mods or dev commands is vanilla.
Mods are chocolate/strawberrt/mint.
No mods but dev commands- thatโs just vanilla with sprinkles! ๐ฆ
Well, I'm glad we've cleared that up.
You shall be missed.

Ask away Mr. Black
What are you trying to support?
hmmm
I have 3 stacks of iron ๐ญ
Have you tried core wood?
Wont do
how dare
Its like 3stories tall
including the roof
I got a ton of the other resources but not iron
I could try
Black are you past mistlands or at least there?
If you build it off the stone walls itโll get blue support only a bit from the roof
endgame
go tear down the aquaducts in the mistlands they yield 2-3 stacks of iron per

honestly try core wood, if that doesn't work out (i suspect it won't) gotta go for iron
I have tear down every single bridge at my nearest mistland base
keep going out further just bring along a portal from ashlands and keep moving through looking for em
there is a site you can use as well to help you find them if thats something you'd want to use
you can use copper as well
dvergr copper walls have same stats as iron basically
you can use those in place of iron cages to help support your base
and as im sure you know copper is plentiful in mistlands as well
I wish there were copper support beams but slighty weaker than iron
Flametal also has the same stats as iron
I dont even want to begin how much copper I have unused
get out of my head
theres a use for it then
i have too much copper as well but i use it in the walls as support instead of iron
I think itโs the exact same
wasnt sure about the elemental differences i think they may be immune to lightning where iron isnt
This is my first time actually using iron wood beam
they look to be exactly then same
Iron beams be too expensive
I refuse to build with them ๐
In survival anyway ๐คฃ
Thats what Im saying
Both have the same resistances and support
either way you can use the copper in place of the iron at least for areas you want to support the wall and hide the copper
start them from the ground up
ITS SUPPORTED ON THE STONE
doesnt matter

What support does the top layer of stone have?
Red but its already ground support if you use stuff like wood
youll get the support the stone has for the most part
If itโs a stone you placed itโs not gonna be as stable
Structure integrity has to be started from the ground up
Iron needs more support than wood
So like a mistlands spire or one of those big ol plains rocks
thats your prob then if you can run the iron to the ground and have it start as blue then work up from there
With the copper thing, I think you can fully hide dvergr copper walls inside stone walls
wait can the copper wall support the iron?
yes
genius
Oh I got plenty of copper I just need to support the iron wall
yea use that stuff for support then
may i relocate this to #valheim-help ??
black you can check building screenshots for an example of how high iron/copper will support and you can probably go a lil bit higher with it then whats there
3 stories tall jesus
i think the total height you go with iron was 18m
I have alot to do in my main base
Well it being my main base , I still have the perimeter wall I need to remake
Not to mention decorations and such
my 2 other main bases mistland and ashland base are pretty much complete
i barely even have a main base anymore
i tore down everything with metal and put it into my ship, moved to a new location and started rebuilding
Im kinda guessing
Faders relic is gonna be similar to yagluths souls
Since deep north is well the coldest place in the valheim universe
It'll kerp you warm from the biomes immense cold
Does anyone have any advice on how to pick a good base location?
be next to water for easier transport
thats it tbh
also dont recommend building in black forest cuz of enemies
kinda dumb how the cauldron recipe is unlocked after smelting tin not after picking up a tin ingot
Wait... I never noticed
It is?
according to the wiki
I actually moved my base to plains for some more peace and quiet
i picked up tin ingots and dont have the recipe
will smelt one when im playing again and see
Meadows had boars, necks, deer that won't shut up, graylings, and where I was at occasionally got skeletons, graydwarfs, brutes, and trolls... In The plains, lox basically leave me alone, so it's just the occasional deathsquito or fuhling
You can build a larger perimeter around your base to prevent more close by spawns. Sinking torches or workbenches in the ground is a good option.
Do we know when Deep North might be coming?
In the future. ๐ค
we don't know, but it's predicted to be 2026 or 2027
No, I meant why is that dumb?
Sign says picking up items will refresh your memories and remind you how to craft stuff
It's nice to have the same recipes as other people in your group in spite of the division of labour
And I wouldn't have known how to unlock the cauldron if not for the wiki
And it's not like you can just find tin ingots laying around, they're made by players smelting tin
Still doesent seem dumb in any way...
And the "I wouldn't have known how to unlock the cauldron if not for the wiki" point is directly tied to you playing multiplayer and not everyone sharing what they found or are doing, that is one of the drawbacks that playing with other people can bring.
You can share the ingots you made and not get the recipe is exactly my point
Each player having to put one ore into the smelter is counterintuitive
As far as i know you get the recipe after picking the ingot, not smelting it. By smelting it the game just throws ingot on the ground, which has no effect on you, you have to pick it to get new recipes.
All recipes are unlocked by collecting all of the items needed. You donโt need to smelt the tin yourself.
Just tested, you get no recipe by placing materials into smelter.
also tested
And after picking up the tin, cauldron recipe is here ๐
gonna make a pull req to the wiki
And which page is it?
Nvm, found it
@storm scaffold Better now? ๐ https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Cauldron#Building
Meh, its not that bad, never had problems with it myself.
But it's unofficial and crap.
There was zero need to add that. Else we'd need it on every discoverable recipe.
I mean, it is a bit clearer now, i agree it was fine before but didnt seem like it would hurt anything adding that ๐
If I added everything people thought the Wiki definitely 'needed' it would be double the size and a complete mess.
its just rephrasing a sentence not adding a new one
It was the principle more than anything but yes, on this occasion harmless.
Thatโs the game brotha
The wiki has actually just been updated to reflect this small thing that could get mis-understood, as a result of the chat above.
I feel kinda sorry for fulings who's entire village is inside the mist.
what a buggy life they must lead.
though... I guess that implies lots of bug on bug violence. Im good with that

weird I never found the bog witch on my server
When did you make that world?
couple weeks ago
Then you probably didnt explore enough yet ๐
maybe, but i'm well past that biome already
Sometimes happens ๐
I'd keep looking. She's worth it imo.
all of the vendors are worth it
Have raid events changed since big witch?
i think they added some new ones
That update added one raid
But no other changes
They only added.. They didn't change anything else
i assume the "you get chills down your spine" raid was one they added
I've got that one.. I was just doing double checks about the raid. Thank you
tbh im super happy they added it
who is the mommy in Valheim
Love that Wraith event. โค๏ธ
What?
like the character that I can bark for
Again, what?
I'd probably ignore them if I were you.

When is the deep north coming out
I played this game when I was 16 now Iโm 25 lmaoo
I don't belive your statement ๐ค
back in 2016 the game didn't exist....
Richard started to make the game end of 2018.
happy saturday
Clearly they're a time traveller.
Don't you know that exaggerating is a full time job for some people?
Yeah. specially when he asked the same "deepnorth when" a while ago ๐ค
Must've been when he was 24 and 11 months, I guess. ๐
When did Valheim go into early access? 2021? ๐ค
so.. nothing in mistlands can't be teleported?
then i won't really need to make a base near mistlands
there are somethings that cant be teleported but they arent items specific to mistlands iirc
|| Dvergr extractor || idk how far you are in mistlands progression click at your own risk
forgot that but no point in taking out of the mistlands really
haven't started it yet, but it seems that stays in the mistlands anyway
ye
then I'm just debating if I want to find an island with plains, mountains, swamp, etc closer to ashlands, or closer to the center
ideally youll want an outpost near ashlands to at least get there when you get to that point but when you get there youll likely want to set up another base/op
If you want to build your base there, somewhere down the middle of the map, but closer to the Eastern or Western edges might work as well.
Both Ashlands and the Deep North extend a bit to the North / South on the East / West parts of the map. Making getting there easier.
On the other hand, entering both biomes from the center going straight up / down may be easier if you want to find the larger islands.
sounds like i can just sail to mistlands and put down a teleporter and be good no matter where i am
If you don't want to build a big base, just sail as close to Ashlands as possible, find yourself a location with plains and mistlands bordering and set up a small outpost over there.
You basically need it for farming all crops, as well as a starting point to travel to Ashlands, meaning a small shed with a portal close to water is already enough.
where i am at on my map now is around 3300, 300.. won't really tell you what i am in or near, but should give you an idea to physical location of the coordinates
i personally set up a base/op in all biomes so i can just tele there farm anything i may need and be done with it, the main ones youll need is at least one in plains and mistlands for farming purposes
as long as i can build that mistlands farms with stuff moved through a teleporter, where the mistlands is relative to my base isn't really important
also, I don't know if I want to build a big one near ashlands, if I have to go all the way north for the next DLC right after
idk how far you are into mistlands but there are base options already there
i'm currently searching for Yagluth
youll see when you get there, you can either use one of those or build your own either work. I do like to use one of those when i first get there to get at least a decent foot hold, then expand or move after that BUT they do require some work >.>
Well, plains is th only biome you can grow crops of all the previous biomes as well, so it's always a good idea to set up a farm there.
Mistlands only grow two crops, but the more important thing there is coming from a plant you need to harvest from in a different way.
So "best" choice may be to look for a location to have multiple of those plants, cultivate the ground, build a shed with a portal and jump in and out to harvest.
And if you're lucky enough to get that near the coast, you can travel from there to the Ashlands later.
Only reason for that; the Ashlands boat is somewhat harder to handle, while also being required to get into the Ashlands. Unless you want to use all kinds of tricks.
you dont "need" that boat to get to ashlands it is possible to get there without it
That's exactly what I mean with "using all kind of tricks."
do you people also think when you build a tall building and think if i should build protection to not fall down and then be like na i don't need that
i tried on my current run and was happy to see it worked out for the best lol
Lemme guess, that wasn't your first attempt to get to Ashlands?
on this play through it was, the last time i did it i waited for the boat and it wasnt the best of experiences
mainly cause i had no idea what i was going into as it was just released
So you're telling someone who's probably playing this game for the first time, or replaying it as they never got beyond Yag for whatever reason, to use all kind of tricks to get to a new biome while the devs have intended it to use a certain boat; just because you had somewhat bad experiences with that boat.
Don't you think that it would be by far better to let people decide for themselves, by giving them the option to use the boat and if they don't like that one, use another option?
most my deaths come from falling off of my own roofs
i didnt yet found yogurt
im not telling them do anything im just saying its not exactly needed, i fully encourage whoever to play the game as it is but there are always work arounds for things that are either overlooked by the devs or maybe put in intentionally as a way to play the game differently. Like most other survival games you have to adapt to w/e is going on whether thats by the devs design or finding another way to get around a tricky situation
Have you checked the local supermarket?
i'll get there eventually, i just need to find a good location to focus all my resources into
Where's your base located now?
for me best spot to set up is near the inital spawn, its centralized and the boss stones are close by
when i think about location, i don't need a lot of plains.. just enough to get things to spawn for resources. I don't need a huge mountain because silver isn't used THAT much. What it does seem continues to be a necessity throughout the game, is Iron
i was searching for him there in "24 Asgard" but he was not there to
teleporters/boats help speed up farming resources. You can have multiple areas for farms in diff biomes so long as the crops can grow there, most tamable animals can be moved without much issue as well
i know a place on my server.. it has lots of iron, copper, probably enough silver too.. small patches of plains, about enough for a good base and areas to farm drops.. I'll probably go there.. it's near where my bonemass fight was
another reason i like the inital spawn point is if i happen to die while building and havent reset my spawn point then i dont have to travel back to where my base is
i don't like meadows tbh
the deer never shut the hell up
ever neck I see makes me think of strangulation
Most players would say that having a main base near the coastline is a good choice, as you will have to do a lot of sailing. Unless the "portal all" modifier is enabled.
Personally I prefer an island (Black Forest or Plains), which I turn in a plateau before I build my base. Reason for that is that's is quite easy to get it spawn proofed, the raised land works kinda like a dirt-wall and having stake walls or stone walls up later makes it completely impossible for any walking creature to enter it.
I'm usually also use some outposts: The Elder altar as portal hub, one close to the swamps to transport iron, one in the plains for farming and one in the Mistlands to harvest items there.
My outpost in the mountains is usually only used to mine silver; but that's transported back to the boat with a cart before being shipped to the main base.
Anything else is simply transported with a pocket portal.
As for animals: wolves can swim, so you only need to build a temporary ramp near your docks to get them to your base.
Boars don't swim, but transporting them with a karve or longboat is possible. And if not, set up a small outpost in the meadows with stake walls a bit away from the fence so they won't peak through and just a portal and they most likely never will be killed.
it takes a lot of rock to plateau a piece of land though
youll get alot of it
probably easier to do that in a square too than trying to plateau a round patch for a circle base
mountains/mistlands you can farm it up pretty easy and plains has some of the big rocks you can also get stone from
oh yeah.. if you mine all teh way through those pillars, they fully collapse, do you get all the stone from that?
yup
awfully brute way of doing it.. but it would be enough stone
that works with all stones like that even the copper/silver nodes
but, i don't need a plateau per se.. trench works as well
i'll probably teleport to that other island though and scout it out for possible places to build a better base
i've been there before, it has tons of swamp, lots of iron, mountains, small patch of plains for farming barley, and enemy drops, but not too big to detract from the other places
doesnt sound like too bad of a place to set up then
one of the other plains area i considered was mostly hillside, I'll have to look for a flat somewhere, maybe a fuhling village on the coast
hmm.. i'm reading some game mechanics I wasn't aware of.. stuff under 2 meters of water, which I believe is the height of the standard wall, will despawn after an hour?
so it is possible to trash junk
yea you can get something that will outright destory items as well
i have that.. much easier to just toss them if i can though
also things not within a crafting bench radius will also despawn iirc
you get coal back from destroying a set amount depending on the item
i think trophies are 1:1 and everything else might vary
most enemies won't spawn in water either.. could be cool to have most the base off over the ocean.. if it's shallow enough to at least get some pillars down to build from
also for the meadows issue with mobs you can tame/breed wolves and let em run free and they usually will take care of all that stuff, although after time they will eventually go out side your range and stop doing that unless you fence in your whole base to keep them around
lox will do the same thing just more destructive
yeah, i don't think i want lox running around my base unchecked
i was planing to build a base in the ocaen or a portal hub
they tend to wreck everything and imo are best left in a dirt cage and solely used for breeding
since i found a flat palce in the ocean
a portal hub on a tiny little mound of dirt in the ocean for a portal hub would be pretty free of threats
i'd like to play valehim multiplayer. someone can help me to find a server?

Fat fingered a swipe right while typing and went back to the channel list
Also, might be a good idea to mention your location / timezone if you post in there. Or simply search for your location / timezone and reply to posts having that.
heh
is there a date for deep north update? or even a month?
nah
year?
devs are using a "it comes out when it comes out" mantra
so we're just chilling till it gets exceptionally chilly
thats fair
True, but I'm not making everything the same level.
Where the main building with a cellar will be is the highest level, meaning I'm already saving stone to raise that part.
Then I got a lower level around that and often another lower - both usually having a 2m drop - around that to make access to the harbor easier.
The reason I often pick a BF island is because that biome has lots of large boulders which are easily mined into rock.
Add to that the stone I get from mining copper and later silver and I got more than enough to get the plateau done.
I'm not doing all in one go, but usually in phases; depending at when I need materials which give me stone as a "side-product".
i know some islands i may build on.. big enough for a full base, plenty more for a lot of gardening, and some space to let stuff spawn in, if i don't put a workbench to block it, which kind of lets me turn enemy spawning on and off
The reason I prefer an island over a coastal base is the fact that it's a lot easier to spawn proof it.
Which makes it harder for raids to hit me; with the exception of the flying raids.
But the first two of those can easily be dealt with using a bow or a melee weapon and the last one can be dealt with using several ballistae.
In all the games I played with an island base I never had anything breach the walls. Just the occasional Drake and lots of Bats flying over them. But as said, those can be dealt with easily.
Only thing you need to keep in mind with that, you will put your boars in a boar farm away from your base and with only 2 player built structures รฒr you will have to put them in an enclosed area.
yeah, the spot I found in mine is three small islands.. maybe 30-40m in length, about 20 wide.. plenty of space that never goes under water, but easy enough that three workbenches per small island will spawn proof it.. i may build there.. just drop a portal, put the benches down to pacify it, then build at my leisure
i already have an idea for a dock where I park a ship in between two islands.. exits on both sides, i can either jump across the boat to get across, or build an archway with stairs over it
hard to say.. but the gap between the three is definitely shallow enough for bridges
and it's all plains biome too
Just a reminder, when building a dock, never build it at the ocean side of the island.
Somehow the waves are always higher at that side, causing more damage to your boat and docks as they keep colliding more often.
I've lost a longboat that way, so I learned that lesson the hard way.
The "inland" side is having more smooth waves, making collisions less likely to happen.
Disadvantage of that, you may have to mine out a bit of the land to make sure all boats are able to enter / leave that harbor.
all docks are on the ocean side of the island.. that's sort of their purpose
Hey guys! After literally a year and a day my wife and I have returned to Valheim, and been learning of the "minor" changes along the way. We are still having a blast playing this game. We've made it through the swamps, and being us, we have also been playing around in the mountains and on the plains, but are ready to defeat Bonemass and properly move into the mountains.
I like seeing first reactions when people step into the plains for the first time and are greeted by a squito
I mean... Its usually the one and same reaction of "How the fudge did i die?!" ๐
Bringing up the Pain again, huh?
The Pain.
The squittos have been toned down. They are not nearly as deadly as they used to be. I got hit twice and only took 30 to 40 damage, in iron gear. My wife has the harness. The rest we've seen coming and just hit them first.
nice
Over all it has seemed to me like the game lethality has been toned down a decent amount since we last played. On the default settings. Even as rusty as I am, I have only died 3 or 4 times so far.
i apparently started playing when deathsquitos were nerfed
would've been fun if i was able to experience what everyone else i played it felt back then ๐
Pretty much just pure terror back in the earlier days.
I imagine you can get that by just using the harder settings. We just use default.
We still get the crazy situations, like two wraiths, an abomination, half dozen draugr, leeches and skeletons, oh my! So we still get those kind of fun situations even on default.
How?
oh I guess you could catapult yourself there
Use the longboat to get to the spires and use the feather cape and a potion to jump from one spire to another.
Another method is to sail to a spire, drop a workbench, repair the boat, remove the workbench, sail to the next one and so on.
Except that's a tool you unlock in the Ashlands, if I'm not mistaken. So it only works if you already got the items.
You dont even need the feather cape and potions. Just jump and swim gets you all the way ๐
The second one is really dependant on your luck with world geenration and the location you are sailing from tho ๐ i accidentally did that the first time i went to ashlands on the ptb release since i forgot to check the queens drop
Hmmmm... I'll have to try some of these ideas. I really hate how clunky that boat is.
Also forgot the queen drop while in ptb, but we just ended up spire hopping the rest of the way to shore ๐
And slowly getting cooked?
Feather cape and potion may imho be a better idea.
These days i take the longship as far as it gets me, then just spire hop to shore. If I go there early game I stock wood and core wood to build a bit out of the spires to get more time reaching the next. But then were talking bronze age to get early molten cores and stone portal ๐
As scales would say, skill issue ๐
โ๏ธ issue ๐
Fortunately we won't need to do that. We decided after 1,000+ hours for her, and over 4,000+ hours for me, we would just enable portal usage for ores. We've put in our ore run times. Still, we only change the setting once we get to the swamps.
For sure. I got 2k hours but I love everything about sequence breaking and the fact that valheim allows me to play most of the content in any order as long as Im skilled enough to deal with the mechanics along the way ๐
Yeah, we have discussed the change every play through since its been an option. Part of it is we are old, so don't need to be spending so much of our lives running ore anymore. ๐
they should rename spear to javelin
No reason to do it.
Javelin and spear are 2 different type of long rod with pointy end.
yeah
I play on Hard or Very Hard now. Very Hard gets Very Very Hard the further you get into the game I think
Javelins are thrown for distance IIRC.
Armor not scaling with difficulty is the main reason the gap between difficulties increases through progression
It combines the distance of an arrow with the function of a spear
I feel the armor scaling is also kinda screwball. In later armor sets it's barely worth the resources for the extra 8% of armor you get or whatever, particularly considering severely diminishing returns beyond AC 50.
Armor doesnโt diminish beyond 50, unless you mean 50%
Javelines are a type of spear designed to be thrown but not really used as a melee weapon, tho they could be in a pinch. So just a normal spear, which can also be thrown quite well, fits the weapon we have in Valheim much more.
yea armor is useless so is food, save on 7 inventory slots, reject big valheim
โ๏ธ issue
If you have a pickaxe thereโs no need to overload your inventory with other weapons
Why do you need a weapon? Embrace the fists!
i found queen tech today lol
blob is gonna hate me, gonna send him on another wild goose chase
Oh no... Another seckill?
not something as busted as that but like 20 sec
Is it something that would only work on the queen?
no but it's related to the queen sanctum
-# Scales why do you have to find this stuff now I need to wake up so early tomorrow

I tried to fill the queens sanctum with about 350-400 particular friends from ashlands the game didnt like that and the queen didnt like it when i took that number down to about 40
Are these dungeon things in the Black Forest difficult? Iโve come across a few of them so far but I havenโt wanted to go inside because some of these skeletons have been dealing pretty good damage to me
If youโve killed Eikthyr, those dungeons are where you are supposed to go next. Have you upgraded your shield yet?
You could kill trolls for better armor but I wouldnโt suggest grinding it, just kill any that you find while exploring.
If you know how to parry and aren't using a pierce weapon, you should be fine
Set up a bed outside if you're scared of dying
You donโt even need to parry, blocking their attacks will be enough, but now is a good time to practice
is there a way to spawn things in valheim?
Use the spawn command by enabling the developer console if you havenโt already https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Developer_console#Enabling_the_console
gonna try cranking all the difficulty sliders up and see how much i hate it
I found a mountain cave fish pond!!!!!!!!
Where do I report game bugs?
Yeah, I beat Eikthyr
Also explored around the area and got copper and tin. Not sure how to get a smelter though
Keep exploring that Black Forest!
how much scrap iron is there in mistlands vs swamp?
With a club, wooden shield and leather armor they're not that hard.
You may have to learn how to time the blocking, but once you get the hang of that they even may become easy.
Eventually you will have to enter them, as they provide the materials to upgrade or replace your gear.
Just make sure you pick up everything you see at least once to unlock recipes or log notifications.
And if those overwhelm you, retreat to a safer area and check them at your own pace. They're worth the information!
That may depend a bit at the RNG of your map.
idk if there is more or not but you can get scrap from the giant armor/weapons and iron ingots from the aqua/viaducts
does anyone have a valheim server with valheim rafts and serverside characters?
You could check in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 for that.
well hello, guess i'm here too now
Depends really, how much crypts there are and rng of those crypts having good amount of iron, mistlands especially those ancient stuff are not worth it imo hassle to get back if your not in ashland with stone portal, only thing worth while in the mistlands for iron are those black marble bridges, the large bridges can contain about 60 iron ingot
No
You can build over it but not on top of it
Despite my year and a day hiatus, my ability to find silver without a wish bone or hammer remains unaffected. Found a vein on my first dig.
lava is ground
The lava is considered a terrain so if you try to modify it, it will raise the lava aswell
its like its own thing
Second one found, a double vein. Had to dig 3 times for this one, but it was in the area I suspected. IE by a house.
I was exploring the channel, and entered voice chat which I cannot get out of. How do I exit out of the voice channels? I am on desktop
Never mind, found the "end call" button ๐
What can you do with the animal trophies? I have 20 of the deer trophies
You could summon 10 Eikthyrs.
or surprise thor with 20 deer trophies
Or turn it into a couple of Stagbreakers.
A viking's true weapon
Whatโs that?
Iโm in the early game. Still using flint weapons
it's a cool aoe weapon. once you defeat the meadows boss and navigate to the black forest, you get the recipe by cutting down the trees there.
Okay, yeah I havenโt cut down any of those trees yet. Just killed enemies there and got ores
Is it melee?
yeah
Ahh what Iโd give to play valheim for the first time again
true
Using flametal pillar pieces you can build above lava.
Its the only buildable that csn withstand lava?
Yes, anything else that is in touch with lava will break.
๐ค got nerfed irl last night
Odin saw I was too powerful in valheim so he broke my leg
Your leg stat reset
Run skill nerfed
You fell and took more than 100 damage?
Oh shit, what happened? ๐
I was thinking I needed to ground pound for more silver, but decided to fight Moder... She blasted an area with silver veins, now I'm set ๐
I also find if there's a golem, there's silver around too. I haven't used a wishbone in a long time. Tho I should finally fight bonemass for the buff
"You are gonna keep breaking Valheim are you? Here, take a broken leg instead!"
too bad they already did no walk/run playthru, would have been a good occasion
"You should have gone for the head hand."
Was just about to make that reference ๐
Hey everyone! I arrived in the Ashlands yesterday โ and am I the only one (probably not) running into the Charred Warrior problem? Other mobs feel fine, but these guys seem seriously overtuned. They've got absurd HP and damage for whatโs supposed to be a regular enemy in a horde-style biome.
Parrying them with buckler launches them like 10 meters away but only staggers them for a split second โ barely enough time to follow up. It totally breaks the flow of melee combat. And that sword feint? Who thought that was a good idea in a biome with literally endless waves of these things? ๐
Donโt get me wrong โ mobs with interesting move sets and mechanics like the sword feint are awesome design ideas, and Iโm all for a good challenge. But at the moment, it feels like a bit too much. Curious to hear how others are handling them.
Just parry after parrying in case they feign, it's pretty easy once you get used to it.
Most people say melee is the most difficult in the ashlands, but honestly my melee playthroughs are the quickest compared to magic.
Also Arbalest is completely broken in ashlands as a generalization
Also I really wouldn't be using a buckler in ashlands
is there a dev command to reveal the whole map
I got used to their move set, more or less. But I cant even reach them with dagger MMB attack after a parry - they just fly away. I'm being carried by my friend with 70 bow skill. But it feels so off to switch to a different weapon/armor after being able to beat the entire game with dagger/buckler.
I ended up with using MMB dodge-roll strat. But while I kill 1 warrior- my friend kills like 3 of them.
I mean, using a sub-par weapon is a choice you're making
Mistalker as an example melts all of the charred
I think it was exploremap
The fact that their are multiple weapon types does not inherently mean they are all equally as viable in every situation. If you're getting overwhelmed by charred, things like daggers/maces will not compare to mistalker/polearms, and that's just how it is.
You can compensate by getting a storm dagger for some AoE as an example, but it still won't be as good.
is taking notes since I'm almost ready for queen and goes and crafts an Arbalest
does not work
Thanks, @sly quail. I guess sword and polearm can not be beaten. And I thought that at least on this playthrough I would not need them... Shame that there are only 2,5 viable weapons in the game ๐
Open console -> type devcommands -> type exploremap
im not 100% sure but i think doing this will mess up the deep north on w/e map you are using it on when it comes out
why is that
cause its already been "explored"
guess they should probably fix that then
idk if that should be on them >.>
Well I meanโฆ they are fixing it, itโs just called an update
โFixingโ if one could call it that lol
No it wont mess with anything, it doesent generate the whole map it just shows you how it looks ๐
but isnt it still considered exploring the map? wouldnt be the same thing as if you went there and ran around uncovering the map?
ooh rly?
i swear in previous updates there was something mentioned about having gone to ashlands/mistlands prior would do something with the way things were generated there
Nope, you generate the map, which Is the thing that can mess up stuff in updates only few chunks from your character, the command just shows you how the map looks but doesent generate it. It would also take ridiculous amount of time to generate the whole map if that would be what it does. ๐
Yes, thats going there and generating chunks, not just revealing the map ๐
interesting
"As always, new content will only be generated properly in previously unexplored areas of the game. Therefore, if you have already explored a lot of the Ashlands, the update will not generate properly in that world and we recommend that you start a new one"
this is what i was thinking of, its if not the same as exploring the area then good to know, in the end it does state to use devcommands at your own risk so either way
right but if you never went to said area technicaly its not explored
eh i personally wont risk it, but to each their own
hrmm... I don't think I'm doing my first sealed tower properly but it is entertaining ๐
Hey, is there a Q&A regarding the upcoming biome?
Like an estimated release date?
No estimated release date
Thanks!
Not trying to stress the devs, just curious.
I haven't got past the Plains yet anyway, lol.
There's no risk. Exploremap doesn't generate content.
that would take hours if not days to add items to the map if that was what the command did ๐
will it effect the deep north when it comes out though, even if we dont go up there?
All it does is uncover a texture that already exists. It doesnโt affect any part of the world.
wait whats coming out, how do i see the leak
im still concerned it might, so id rather be safe then sorry
no leak ๐ค
not really no
or news
but just like ashlands. don't run around up there ๐
๐คฏ
idek what the deep north is, is this update just dungeons for it
Deep north is the last biome
does it go plains then ashlands then mist then deep?
Itโs currently in a placeholder state, 1.0 will turn it into a complete biome
Plains mist ash deep north
medows -> DN -> swamps -> mountains -> plains -> get lost in the mist -> boat to Ashlands -> get to deep north
is mist not progressionsly needed
hmm seems a biome got skipped XD
Meadows -> DN ??
and whats DN
better?
I think you lost black forest in the mist
well it is a black forest and you can't see in the mist, so it adds up
For a first time playthrough no
im upto plains so i wanna do everything anyway
More and more you play you can skip a bunch of stuff but just experience the game how it was "intended"
you can technically skip every boss, killing them for their drops just makes the game a lot easier
To beat the game youโll need to kill every boss, youโre just defeating them in a different order rather than skipping them completely.
im waiting for deep north to find out
I suspect a "warmth" item that allows you to progress in the cold of the deep north
Or a drakkar upgrade that allows one to break ice floes
Yea they could go for a artisan table lvl 3 angle
Youโre not catapulting to deep north?
That's beyond the skill or seed knowledge of an average player not using tools external to Valheim.
Maybe the ice floes will indeed get larger and form a wall, impenetrable by any other tool besides something one can attach to a drakar. But attaching something to an already built ship? Madness.
Honestly I was suprised when I first did the ashlands that you didn't use the drakkar to break the spires and that you had to avoid them
Unless itโs changed, you wonโt need a drakkar or any kind of boat upgrade because Hervor gets there in a normal longship
i hope to some extent its like the ashlands water and how it treats the longship/karve
You didn't try a raft first?
i never use em they are horrid
Also Iโd like something other than a new boat/better boat because thatโs too similar to what the queenโs drop does
Funny thing, we actually do have a catapult. And it's best paired with both a feather cape & bukeperries.
Hervor is also using jotun pain so I think she has no clue what she's doing
Man I hope the last teaser kills her off man ๐ข
Catapult with feather cape and bukeperries transforms the player character into a vomit comet, better known as the Vomet.
#1 Hervor hater
I'm well aware of the NG+ speedrunning strat. They generally have prior knowledge of the seed, though.
Are giant icy spiders lore-accurate? I kinda wanna see creepy crawlies on the walls of ice in the Deep North.
I want murder painguins that oneshot you
Don't Starve did it first. They don't one-shot, but they'll sure as hell all rush at you.
๐ค not sure but it def seems they're going for a horror element in the deep north just from the teasers
Just imagine it. You're going through a frosty area, step on some webbing that blends in with the snow, and a giant spider starts descending onto you as you try to wiggle free.
The hanging icicles in their nests could actually be frozen webbed corpses on closer inspection. ๐ท๏ธ๐๐ท๏ธ
I probably would try that ๐ค
saves a shit load of time ๐
are there 1* and 2* versions of voltures?
Nope
bleh, its one of the only things i find hard to come by atm
what are silver arrows good for
feel like their a waste tbh
so silver isnt all that useful?
i suppose
Silver arrows certainly are not, silver weapons are pretty nice on the other hand ๐
i watched some video where he calculated all the total dmg of each arrow and from each bow, and u should just get needle arrows instead
very easy to farm aswel, i find getting feathers harder ๐ญ
In mountains the best are obsidian, tho after that needle are pretty damn good ๐
im still using dear meat as food ๐
In mountains?
mhm
oh lord
dear meat, jerky, and sausage
3 health foods?
Well... How is your dying going?
i wish i couold grow mushrooms, 30 mins just to find 10 mushrooms
i havn't died once
Mark them on map from start of the game and you are fine ๐
Jerky is balanced, not health, but still not a good choice
What the hell
Is there a mod that makes finding Haldor easier with NoMap runs?
#mods-discussion will get better answers
u could just use the seed map thing
forgot what its called but u just put ur seed in and u can see ur whole map and where things are
Easier, not instantaneous and effortless
