I've only managed on 3x resources, but I did scrounge a full set from a single cave
yeah but this is before ive got access to it
after ive got fire res yeah cultists are easy
Just need barley and clouds can yeet them from plains very early
Grow in a safe spawnproofed spot etc
ik, but i never go to that much troubke
It was....a bit to upgrade it though #screenshots message
all the wolf fur is the kicker for me, so many wolves
If youโre on a server someone will have a wolf farm
I m cutting down on solo play after about 1500h + solo and getting more server play done now up to 2400h total
Running own server now etc that helps to do that
my friends hate this game ๐ฅฒ
Also ASHLANDS new favourite biome
ashlands is the goat
Was swamp previously
Had to kill a bonemaw, 6 charred, and 3 voltures before I even put down my first workbench in that place
that very first time sailing there and u hear that music ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฎโ๐จ๐ฎโ๐จ
lowkey u got lucky with only one bonemaw
i had 4 on my first trip, 2 at once as well
I had 3 bonemaw
Just recently I made my way to Ashlands with the longship for the first time
tbf if u have a decent bow skill and frost arrows theyre pretty easy
Itโs a beautiful decoration for a fortress ๐คฃ
my mate tried it with a karve and got destroyed
he literally quit after that
I lost the ship too but managed a landing
even tho i told him he needed a new boat
And then everyone on the server used my portals haha
Iโm still deciding if I should build new fortress in next run in mistless Mistlands or Ashlands
Also sometimes build a base in every biome
Commandeered charred fortress is nice
Yeah but too small for a proper main thatโs not crowded and has tames and several buildings
Use it as the keep
My biggest base has 15iah different buildings
you need iron nails
i just realized i left the ancient bark
that too yes haha
oh shit i have serpent scales i can make a serpent scale shield
just found a troll cave in meadows lmao
Damn, wish I was recording this. Was sailing at full speed along plains, deathsquito comes and somehow gets smacked by my longship's stern ornament and dies....
Oh yes, boats and moving objects in general do dmg ๐ and deathsquitos have REAL low hp
first time I saw that though, squito swatted by a ship
genuienly stressed i can't find BW
you can always put the seed in the online world viewer
i rather not
okay, your choice
i have 30 hours on valheim
the equivalent of spending 3 hours on valheim
Could give me the seed and I'll look and provide you a general spoiler-free hint as to what direction she is in ๐ค
okie but i'll look at my 16th swamp incase shes here
i wish i could hire ppl to do stuff like chopping wood for me
and in exchange i give them smth they need, like trade works in other multiplayer games
chop chop[
18th swamp i think I'm going to glorp myself
@misty frost im afraid you got whooshed my friend
?
SPEAK OF THE DEVIL I FOUND BW
shweet
You found BioWare? ๐๐
i am fully aware of what the root armor is, i was just making a joke about how that root has an ancient armor in it. this is from the mistlands
she looks so cool wth
In my experience, larger swamps (not just thin strips between bf/plains and ocean) are hard to find and bw probably only spawns in those.
Also took me a long time and many swamps to find her...
she can spawn in any swamp, but more swamp land of course gives her more chances for a location
she spawned like 5000m away
Does she not need like a min size? In those thin strips you also never find crypts.
Plus I think she needs to be at least 3000m from the world center
yeh 3km
that's distance, not swamp size
i'm pretty sure that's because pois are placed based on the original height of the terrain before it became a swamp, and some can generate lower than others, but also not all tiny swamps were originally below sea level
here's a pretty tiny one with a bog witch, even close to the shore
Winter can i ping you my map in #valheim-help ?
sure~
Thankies!!!! :3
Oh the size of a swamp is not always a factor of what can spawn there ๐ #screenshots message
pfff been a while since i've last seen an underwater crypt
Now i wonder how many crypts i missed ๐ญ
oh underwater ones are not common at all, don't worry about it
What baffles me is the underwater geysir ๐
how did i miss that
It is like properly 4-5 meters under the surface xD
I once found a lone geysir 50-100m from a swamp in bf. Was a great base location with free coal.
coal? i'd be more stoked about the cores
imagine trying to catch your own wisp light at a wisp fountain. couldnt be me (it was me)
Meh, my core needs are usually satisfied pretty quickly.
how? with all the portals im setting up i can never have enough cores
so you don't use them as fireworks then? xP
How many are you possibly needing?
uh....many?
How?
I can think of... 20, maximum.
I don't think I would ever have a "Swamp2"
Because after clearing all crypts in "Swamp", I have no reason to return.
Portal deleted and moved to next "Swamp".
Repeat cycle as needed.
I have had worlds with 90+ portals and yet, the cores have never been a problem
I currently am close to 50 in current playthrough, I have a portal addiction...
Stones - for returning heads and swapping buffs.
One per boss (8).
One per current biome being farmed (7).
Home.
Oh Shit backup portal.
Remote farms if needed (2).
One per trader (3).
So that's... 23?
Thats 100 cores, you can get that many while in the swamps for mining iron
Some for mines where you want to go back to get Jelly etc, (lets say 6+) then Surtling Spawner Portals, one for each biome base +7, 4 miniboss portals, fortress portals +6 min, Tetra portal, Remote animal farms potentially like a tomb chickens or island boars... so much more
50 pairs so 200 cores
I always have a location with min 2 surt spawners though as a place I visit and use them for fireworks too so I m never short
Gems don't respawn so why would you need Fortress portals?
sup yall
well i have a portal hub on the main land where my base is. this connects to:
the first of each boss i find
all other continents i have uncovered. (these in turn get their own portal hub for fast travel within that continent)
important locations like merchants, quest areas
farms (surtling, plains farm, mist farm etc.)
friends bases
safehouses for exploring and corpserus
Portal Hub? You mean "Home" portal that you just rename to wherever you want to go because Portal Hubs are pointless?
and yeah this is on a server so friend base portals too
i dont wanna deal with that renaming stuff
๐
I hate the renaming, love to have most of them up 100%
yea but portal hubs are cool
Typing letters saving you hundreds of Cores is too much effort... ok ๐
imagine more than one person living in your base using the renaming portal system
yes, the cores are easy to get with surt farms
it aint about the effort it's about the coolnes, also if you're bored
Portal hub is also an escuse to do more building
i absolutely couldnt when i lived with a friend who did the renaming thing
Yes. But their complaint was about getting Cores. So "easy to get" or "not an issue" are both off the table given the complaint.
Like I even build a beerhall in one world
Scroll the beginning for context if going to comment ๐
aight
i wasnt complaining about getting cores, i have surtling farms. i was just flabbergasted at how someone could do with so little cores
If someone has trouble getting cores I will deliver them a wooden chest worth to their world if they host ๐
Love swamp treehouses with surt farm
yes, but that doesnt mean i lack cores. jsut that i can always use more.
i currently have roughly 400
do feasts have 10 uses even if its in the inv?
If you're not lacking, that inherently means you have enough.
and if anyone hasn't done that please make a fire outside and "use" surt core on that fire ๐
thats a semantic i do not agree with
you can't eat it from inv
Does anyone know any public hosting servers here? Thats why i came here anyways
That's a definitive argument that doesn't care if you agree or not.
Welcome to today's edition of "How Words Work."
EU specifically
oh
there isn't any "public" you have to talk to people and get invited if you fit etc #1024264966712340510
has to be placed and then eaten at home, so not great for no portal no map worlds I guess
language can be a fickle thing, but I'll leave it at that, back to building more portals
Imagine if you could "place" them in a cart ๐
also english is server language, some people don't have it as their first language me included
or the new ship ๐ it is almost big enough for that haha
I mean. Raft is big enough to put a couple feasts on tbh.
what are feasts?
no, you gonna accidentally step on it and get lox poo or slime or whatnot on it...
a new version of food unlocked by finding a new trader introduced in a very recent patch / update
the bog witch? Does she also give out quests which reward us with feasts?
New foods that you place on table and eat from the table. They have 10 portions to eat. They have balanced stats and last 50mins.
yes bog witch, no quests just sells stuff
can you buy more of the foods or just once?
can buy as many as you have gold, the ingredients for the new foods (need bog witch purchasable stuff and other normal ingredients too)
You can buy ingredients from the Bog Witch which you use to make the feast items.
Well thats nice, i saw some pics
I think all 3 traders don't have limits on how much you buy of anything, just limited by your gold
Yeah they look absolutely delicious.
Where does it all come from anyways?
Learn Dvergr language and ask them, and also the language the Bog Witch speaks then you can find out (JOKING, we don't know but for Dvergrs I think the lore is they can travel somehow sometimes between Valheim and another realm)
someone correct me if I m wrong about that Dvergr stuff
but haldor is a dwarf (too short for one, though)
They uh, have their ways.
i think i heard him say at some moment that he hates mining, and that he luckily came from a familly of enterpreneurs
so, a trader dwarf
its a fair point to ask where their stuff is coming from, like Haldor sells those chicken eggs etc that are also in the tower.... all 3 traders are a bit strange thats why I'm playing less solo with just them and tames and now play with actual vikings on server a bit more haha to get that social interaction, just getting it from Haldor Hildir and Bog Witch is suboptimal!
you can find the eggs in the quest tower?
yep, and don't need 3k gold
The Sealed Tower yes.
what are the requirements to go to that tower anyways?
but mike tyson is also in the tower
current or his prime
No requirements, just not to die. ๐
depends if you have padded or carapace armour or something squishier ^^
well, there are requirements to not die, also
need to also have found hildir ofc
Tower can be done with Fenris set.
i need to have plains armour? bruh i'm just in the mountains, also i did found hildir
aint that armor weak af, i never used it anyways
How much does armor matter if you don't get hit?
if doing it in wolf armour or fenris you need to be pretty skilled and know how to dodge and when you can or can't parry and all that
IF
I've seen people do it in root armour
Yes, and given the armor gives you +9% movespeed...
personnaly I'd be too scared for that especially on hard or v hard
There's a reason many, many people never swap it out for any other armor.
i can steamroll trough the swamp with a single bite of wolf meat and only iron armour, that enough for you?
ugh why cant i post images here :7 i just got really lucky map seed and wanna show
iron armour is strong for swamp, I use mostly root (you talking about 1 food slot only?)
post it on reddit, more people will see
just 1 slot
also the armor is lvl 1
was*
thats quite good, if you can easily live against a abom and a 2 star archer and an 1 star elite at the same time with that ๐
I also have the CLLC mod
i can post some of my finds on the #screenshots if they are good enough
I don't know about mods does it make game easier or harder that one? this also not the channel for mod discussion.
#screenshots message here look
you can always just go tower and see if you live or die, make a portal nearby
i found the screenshot, i'll post it on the channel shortly
oh shoot you're right, can i still post screenshots that have mods on 'em?
what is the seed name?
1xLvnRu0LD i think
Like, if i wanted to post a 2 star abomination on the channel, can i still do it even though it is because of the mod? It's also poison infused
right... i need to check out all the other channels
imma send the screenshot of the abomination shortly
uhh wait actually not that one i sent..
it's there
What is the intended purpose of the increased troll spawn rate potion? Is it to more reliably use them to mine/woodcut for you?
More of if you want more coins and trollskin. but yeah that what you said is also correct
whatever you want it to be, love is in the air!
I'd just have imagined it's more of a late-game thing, and the hides aren't exactly high value then
I mean, it is a love potion from a bog witch...
well it is, but some people love to max out their armor and stuff, but yeah late-game wood cutting makes more sense
would be funny if you could make someone drink it on multiplayer ๐
thankfully we dont have such mods yet
woodcutting still faster with ashlands things though
please dont say what it is i dont want spoilers
all g
I've been playing for about 2 weeks, and I'm in the ashlands now, it's all pretty new to me
ashlands are really giving me a hard time ๐ 3 morgans and one with a star...add to the mix 2 starred charred warriors and a fallen valkyrie all next to a fortress where the warlock spews out conjured twitchers ๐ฆ
thats why I didn't elaborate
died again :(... i have not died up to the ashlands at all...and this is the thrid death there now ๐ฆ
the official discord is dangerous though for ashlands spilers
nbd, I'm docked up and hoping for the best :' )
ya this one is different but does look cool as well lol
you thought, i learned all those creatures unvillingly BEFORE you said this.
even just docking has felt like kind of a big deal
sometimes people spoiler things from mountains etc and sometimes people massive spoiler things from very recent updates, bit hit and miss
i am always a step ahead
I think things from mountain biome don't need to be spoiler tagged for instance haha
Spoiler: ||Ashlands has Ash.||
I'm pretty sure we all know everything about the mountains, seeing people talk about ashlands here
so, i want to talk about tetra lakes
Spoilers || Meadows has boar,||
||Mistlands has Mist, Mountains are high, Black Forest has TREES!||
||Black Forest is a Forest, but it is green/brown.||
first of all:
the first cave i entered had one, and a tetra fish jumped out
second of all:
why are they so damn valued and looked out for?
one of the harder ones to find
in case you want to make the *spoiler item *
i found one on the nearest mountain to the spawn, in the first cave
spoil me then, im curious
people will hate you for that luck, and also don't buy a lotto ticket the luck has now been used up ")
||fishing hat||
i can share the seed if you want me to
||don't forget blue and orange||
you point being? the ashlands have been out for a long time this is the official chat about valheim chat? if you do not want spoilers it might be best not to read here? we do avoid spoilers about things on the PTB but all other is fair to talk about?
does it give any special abillities or it's just a decorative thing?
+20 Fishing and Swimming
Yeah i understand that, but i thought you were tryna spoil it for me because you said the names of some of the ashlands creatures, after i have said i don't want to have ashlands spoiled
Did you see the beginnings of pyramid? ๐
do you need the fish for that specifically or nah?
all of the fish, yes, won't unlock it until you caught every single fish type
uh, that seems like too much work for that buff
bit of a niche thing
i did, but i just woke up~~ 2 hours ago~~ so the commenty part of my brain is still under the earth
plus, i dont like fishing alot
trollfish is really popular now.... such a nice potion made from them
is the fish blue and has a log to smack you?
theres an actual fish in the game or irl? you got me confused
ingame trollfish
oh that was sarcastic lol
I have not read up all that was said up to here - i am playing a game shareing my experience here - i do not think with the pace here anyone can keep up on what is being said even 10 min ago?
alright bruh sorry, it was a missunderstanding
just died again... with the portal destroyed ... i will need to make my way there again without good armor and good protection ...
or call the Body Recovery Squad or a friendly viking from chat that might help
i'd call the BRS first
i heard that theres always someone standing on guard, and that they join your world in 40-90 seconds after making a request
never needed that in all the long hours i have been playing... i am gonna be able to do it... it will just take a lot of time
good luck cause you'll need it
yeah i will need it ... but i will get it done in the end ๐
you're brave then, same for me. My worst recovery was in the Mistlands, all I had was a Level 1 Krom, killed a 2 star seeker with it, had no armour left not even troll...
just food and a big ass sword
brave i do not know... stubborn! that's for sure... would not be the first time i need to recover from a hard setback... not in this run, but i did many since when i started and i never give in ๐
Yeah keep on keeping on! (thats from another game haha) But I always do that too, strive to succeed and fight on, I'm on like the 14 play through or somethin
thinking of doing a bow and 2h hammer playthrough next
and maybe another weapon that might fit with that style
I have been thinking about playing a no map one... but i do get lost so hard WITH a map so i do not know if i would love that ๐
tried it, not my preference, same as portals I love them too much
I usually do 2portal all things" as it bothers me tto much to run back and forth all the same route to get things to where they need to be...
My method was during the Ashlands PTB if I died: while waiting for Rested buff I ate 1 Eitr food, casted Shield with the backup Protection Staff (for 4min bubble), then ate pukeberry and after the effect was gone took the right foods and then went.
I also don't like that, cheapens something in the late game for me personally (spoiler)
that is freakin smart mate
Without armor the archers hit hard so protection bubble gives the desired protection.
Okay i did establish a new portal not too too far off from where i was getting deaded ๐ now i need more fine wood... for the next safetyline portal
good thing i made all ashlands gear stuff (only level 1 though) so i have fallback stuff to use
Thanks!
And sometimes if I was going with HSE combo when I died I didn't even need to eat pukeberry to remove Eitr food.
Kudos to the DEVS though, the 3 Ashlands armours are all absolutely amazing, each one of them!
I m playing rn with HSE as the one things thats currently working best for me, lowest death rate in fortresses so far with that!
yeah..running lvl1 ask set now as my flametal stuff is in the middle of nowhere ๐ฆ
Also Ashlands fav biome but Deep North.. I always love icy snowy things so much, in any game. I will probably be playing a long time in that progression stage when it comes out. (Which we all know when DN is getting released, its been said already - when it's done ๐
i reckon october/november โ25
maybe fighting bonemass with a sword wasn't a smart idea-
I also loved the combo during PTB, my character actually has very high Elemental magic skill due to how much xp the Fracturing staff granted during the test ๐
which gets the job done within one poison resist
i might need 2 because 80 damage isn't chunking him down
my stats look soooo sad... i think i need go b ack to the swamp for a bit and punch stuff in the face to get my fists up to where it was ๐ฆ
You're using Fenris Claws in Ashlands? Interesting.
i am using fenris claws up to ashlands was lvl 40 with fists ๐ using more magic in the ashlands though
fleshrippers do deal slash though better than spear which deals pierce ๐ my spear levels have suffered greatly too ๐ฆ
Spears are great there too, just don't use them mainly against Charred.
yeah i have the spear on 1 and the stormmace on 3 ๐ using that against the charred
Splitnir the Storming is great against Valkyries, Morgen and Asksvin. For other melee options my favorites are Klossen and Primal Axes.
Those were my main 3 melee weapons during my normal deathless run which I succeeded. Went without magic.
Primal Axes is what I m doing rn in current play, soooo good
hitting a 2 star warrior while he can't hit back MUAHAHA
I usually start with Klossen against starred warriors, then switch to Axes after it gets immobilized.
Pretty much all ashlands weapons are really fun to use ๐
that's the safe way to do it ๐
Safety is priority in deathless runs. ๐
ofc
That way I dealt with Lord Reto too.
haven't done a deathless one yet
Dundr works too I think? I think last time I just let my skellies do the dirty work
Yeah the Dundr knockback is hilarious, one way to deal with him if you have enough Eitr regen.
Some used Trollstav until it was patched lol.
||Staff of Copper Mining||
Or stone pillar demolishing
yep, always fun
purple monkey egg
vine staff also free win vs lord reto
I remember how the Wild staff was before the buff during PTB. It went from laughable to absolutely nuts damage dealer.
okay that valkyrie is gone... was camping my second corpse... need to go slow though there is still 3 morgan and a bunch of asksvin
Had one yes, what about SECOND corpses?
i killed bone mass and went back to base only to have drakes raid it
i think I'm acoustic because i wasted 20 iron crafting a pick instead of upgrading it
That has happened to most of us.
got my armor and weapons back mostly ๐ now consolidate and kill the other foe ๐
On a 3070ti and i5 13th gen, should i go with vulkan/dx and with the extra graphics card utilization? Vulkan with the gx=forgot gives me 60-80% utilization on the gpu and like 53 on the cpu. That utilization gives me vibes i can do something to make it use more gpu for more fps
dx11 should be better on nvidia
ha ha ha left them a troll to be playing with while i try to recover what is laying around
||are they added a limit for asksvin eggs? in my farm they stoped producing after 8 eggs, before there was no limit like this||
is plains the best biome to base in? since u can grow (almost) everything
Every animal has a breeding limit...
thats not corect, every animal has a breeding limit but since now asksvins didn't have an egg laying limit
there was hatching limit but no eggs limit that can be produced
I wonder if they changed it
Oh you are correct, there should not be a limit on the egglaying if there are not too many hatched asksvins in the area, how many do you have?
Are there no others anywhere around?
nope, they used a whole stack of food for only 8 eggs
before there was like 30 there for half a stack of food
Then i dont have any idea, patchnotes dont mention anything
However the number seems to fit the limit for asksvin, so if you make something like the boar of wolf breeding tower it could still work
yep I think I wil need to rebuild my farm
What do you guys think? #building-screenshots message
COZY!!!!!
better than the new york housing situation
Nice details ๐
Ty, @tacit crystal And @random kayak - it took 7 hours xD
Building is a timesink in this game ๐
I'm now gonna start on the house to sleep in
thinking 4 bedrooms, we're 8 on the server but 3 of them doesn't play much, with a ramp up to the bed, with 4 storage chests under the floor of the beds for personal storage
good morning
(would attach my game morning screenshot, but just found out it's no more possible to send images here... sad...)
guys i just build mistland table , do i need to be a mage or just stick to physical ? does it worth it to use magic ?
Play any way you want ๐
It is totally new playstyle which some people like a lot, you can give it a shot if you like or stick on melee. ๐
I'm personally more of a melee player but magic stuff is good too. And sometimes you can mix melee and magic.
well, today I go to fight fader
The battle will be legendary!
it's all playstyle preference, mage has some very strong tools but also ends up being kind of a glass cannon depending on how you build
yep, got all my bells last night and I have maxed out gear so atp I just need to prep my mead and I'm ready
How are you going to encounter Fader? Mage or melee?
mage
That's viable. Good luck ๐
I plan on using the staff of fracturing as my main weapon, I've really grown to love that thing tbh
I thought I would just use the staff of embers forever but with how I used it the staff of fracturing is just much more suited to my playstyle
I still keep the staff of embers on me in case I get surrounded though
Have you tried Staff of the Wilds or Dundr? Opinions of them?
yep, I like both of them quite a bit
wilds is like a safer alternative to the trollstav, and dundr is a shotgun
I don't get to use dundr much unfortunately but it's really nice for butchering morgens
imo dundr is best used as a "get the fuck away from me" tool because the kb on that thing at point blank is insane
Yeah and Dundr knockback is useful for keeping enemy hordes away. And they absolutely obliterare Morgen.
I've sent asksvins flying with it before it's ridiculous
overall, dundr is my favorite weapon conceptually and fracturing is my favorite in practice
Both are great for bigger single target. For groups it's either Wild or Ember staff.
yep, typically if the enemies are spaced out I'll use fracturing and swap to embers if they're tightly grouped
I have seen many saying Fracturing staff is underwhelming, but it is a useful tool for certain situations. Shooting at feet so all the clusters hit the target raises the fire damage quite effectively.
honestly, if you land your shots and aren't constantly ending up in fights against hordes, it's better than the staff of embers
and both of those are skill dependent, if you let yourself get swarmed often there's most likely another problem with how you handle fights
I find much more success typically by picking off enemies one by one than spamming embers into the crowd and hoping they die
Silver Sword Acquired!!!
also i somehow got lucky and got fenris set in 2 caves so i just need to max it
nice, go beat yagluth's ass with it
Nice!!
Yeah, some people make mistakes when fighting too many enemies at the same time and get overwhelmed, so picking one by one can be effective tactic.
the moat i built is effective until trolls started chucking rocks...
i don't think i should use fenris in the mountains unless i wanna risk getting mopped by a wolf
until i max it maybe?
you should be fine in fenris tbh, especially if you just focus on outrunning the wolves
i always kill wolves on sight for meat and fur
same
same
You can outrun most enemies with Fenris set. And blocking with shield is effective even when using light armor.
The skewers are soooo good ๐
except I used to completely ignore the meat, now I grab it but only for the feast
skewers are nice but sausage + serpent stew is always enough to last me until the plains at least
i cannot for the life of me find mushrooms
I usually mark any patch of mushrooms i see thats bigger than 3 and somewhat close to places i "frequently" go to (base, haldor,...) ๐
what if... i drink the rat potion with the fenris set
you go very fast, highly recommend
I AM ZOOOOMING
Add Ask cape to REALLY feel the speed xD
troll throw rock, troll no need bow
rock weak & slow, bow strong and fast
I run so fast that i am actually outrunning deer
fenris speedmaxxing is my favorite thing to do before becoming a mage
Nothing quite like going back into the progression biome with new gear and food from it and feeling actually capable rather than fearful haha
Time to storm a fortress.
prepare to feel fearful again
I've been using the fenris set but with an eitr hood and going hybrid mage/melee
The set works well all through the mistlands and early ashelands. The fenris set is op lol as long as you don't get hit
I recommend the claws too you can stagger most enemies with them
ahh, once this mead is done brewing it's gonna officially be fader time
Gotta rant. Nine frost caves to get the damn cultist trophy...
Ooooof
t-two
before i mine out again i should probably stock up on 300 iron
Are feasts meant to be useless or am I just not seeing the value in them? I've played through Valheim a dozen times with regular food and I haven't made a single feast yet... They look nice for decorations or roleplay but I'm really having issues understanding their usefulness.
They add a more balanced option stat wise, and last 50 minutes. Useful if you're just chilling at base and still want some stats
they're balanced, cost-effective stuff. You use usually 7 foodstuff to get 10 portions with double length
good for housekeeping
They give you around the same total stats as the best food in a biome, they last 50 minutes and its balanced diet
Idk they just seem like a waste to me. Take the Plains Pie Picnic as an example. Requires 3xBread and 2xLox Pie. Bread gives you 70 Stamina for 25mins, that's 70 stamina for 75mins. Lox Pie gives 75HP for 30mins, which means 75HP for 60mins. The Plains Pie Picnic feast gives you 55 Stamina/HP for 50mins. The only upside is slower stat loss but I don't see that as a win at all....
Feasts can be used ten times so one feast is 500 minutes of food
So it doesn't dissappear after it's eaten?
Not until youโve eaten it for the tenth time
Ok thanks, I see the appeal now!
time to find the bog witch....this is not gonna be easy with my luck
how many food slots does the plains pie picnic take?
what do you guys think about a "stamina/minor eitr" build vs. other types of builds?
basically, you have eitr for prot bubble/fireball/vine and then rest is invested into stamina for running/dodging/jumping/melee. no hp food because bubble itself is like 2x max hp foods. and the gear you use is stamina focused, like ask gear or fenris
I usually go Marinated Greens, Seeker Aspic and Scorching Medley. That way I got enough stamina to jump around and plenty of eitr to take care of mobs.
All feasts just take one food slot
It's a good build, works great
yea ive played full flametal tanky melee, full mage, and this stamina focused/mage hybrid. just roaming ashlands, the last one by far feels the best... although i havent done bosses with it, i guess mage with trollstav still dominates there
Troll unga, therefore troll bunga.
like being able to almost infinitely kite around with ur huge stamina bar while throwing down vines feels great
so the feast provides 110 stat points? woah
fader is dead, lad is avenged
Now you get access to the best feast ๐
yipee, probably gonna use it with the mistlands feast and 1 eitr food for my general purpose exploration now
why are the feast herbs available AFTER the biome is cleared?
It's a reward for killing the boss is their philosophy i think
That's very good combo for casters, casters get also high HP and stamina.
yeah, getting a feast tends to invalidate the rest of the foods in that biome, only exception as of now being the ashlands since it's the highest tier of food currently
My viking is zooted after drinking the rat potion
Once you get super confident with 2stamina 1eitr, i'd recommend just going all out and trying 3 stam, it's brutal at first but once you get a hang of it, it's loads of fun
so far my favorite is triple eitr lol
two eitr foods + eitr feast is just so well rounded for mage
yes that's a great option
Bog witch is such a good update man, the new build options are crazy
as soon as I saw it was a cooking update I went feral
And the new meads are great.
I honestly enjoy these "Smaller" updates much more than the biome updates (frost caves, abom update, hildir, and now bog witch)
btw who was gonna warn me fader was fire immune lmao
It remains to be seen what kind of smaller updates we get before Deep North.
I mean, it should've been common sense ig but it definitely ruined my staff of fracturing idea, as soon as I saw he was immune I switched to spamming trollstav and roots lmao
I thought about sayin somethin but just figured it'd be worse to spoil it for ya
You didn't ask. ๐
it was pretty funny tbh
anyways friendship with fracturing is over root staff is my new bestie
You had it with you? That was smart. ๐
yeah, I brought all my staves except the frost one lol
Frost staff demolishes fader too
yeah, I picked it up from the base after my first death while I was preparing to go back out
just found I didn't really need it much between all the troll and root spam, didn't have the eitr to spare for it
it was fun to put a troll in front of fader and like 4 roots behind him so he could only deal with one at a time
Some bbq skeleton named brenna just tried to jump me with some of her goons who tf was that?๐
ahhh the wonders of hildir raids
yk, I wonder if I should make a fortress specifically for farming raids, and just set my raid rate to the max while in there
just for funsies
Huh? Is that where Brenna came from? My buddy has been doing more exploring while I build my base. Imma too much of a sweat and fly through bosses in these games
yeah, she's a miniboss that drops one of the three hildir chests, once she's defeated in your world that raid unlocks
Ah yea he mentioned bringing back one of her chests. Didn't mention a flaming skeleton. Just the other two who are bros.
My first time Fader encounter I used hybrid melee eitr build with the best HSE food combo, used Thunder Axes and Dundr mostly against him. Had the Root staff and Root Fang too.
The funny thing is that I'm just chilling in my kitchen waiting for the rain to pass and I see some flaming skeleton and a bunch of 1 stars try to jump me
Wait until the bros come to visit.
They have, they did it twice in two days
ya trollstav is legit all u need for that fight
roots mostly die in his fire aoe
Well, free Black metal scrap delivery ๐
Positioning the roots is the key for them to survive.
I have way too much black metal...
whole barrel full of the ore just waiting to be smelted and I don't wanna do it because it's gonna take so much coal
no swamp but an instant yaggy find
Nice, saves the time from finding him later. ๐
anyone else like to play duck hunt with voltures and dundr
youre gonna need a laughing wolf for that
I haven't even defeated moder yet I can't do anything with the 100 something scrap I have yet ๐ ๐คฃ
why do we have to hold down E so long to fill kilns still in 2024
TRUE. i just make a macro for it but ya wheres the "add all" button
True we have the chest sort that auto deposits stuff into chests if there's something similar in that chest, why can't we do that for smelting
Irongate plz
ya
๐ฎ
Some kind of shift+E to add full would be good addition.
god DAMN the ashlands feast is cheap
just vineberries, asksvin tails, onions, jotun puffs, and fiddleheads
only thing that I can't farm is the fiddleheads and those are so abundant it doesn't matter
whats the stats on that feast?
75 Health/Stam 38 Eitr
Thass pretty good
If it gave 60 eitr ashlands feast would be crazyyyy
It is really good. Mistlands feast has 65 HP/Stam and 33 Eitr, so combined with AL feast it's total of 140 HP/Stam and 71 Eitr.
Those stats are pretty flexible for 3rd food option.
Even just adding the plains feast would be another 55 hp/stam iirc for 195 hp/stam and 71 eitr, seeing as i don't even use eitr I'd nearly run those three just for the 50 minute duration. Lol
yeah, I would use all feasts if I weren't a mage now, they're just so good for the duration alone unless you're going somewhere that needs you to have minmaxed stats
Mage is absolutely broken rn, I would even say that it is overpowerd and need to be adjusted, so yeah magic is worth it
how to get my boar to follow me to a new enclosure
Only wolves follow afaik
Best solution I can think of is make a fenced path and push him there
pushing bro physically seems to work
Using feasts save some item slots that used to have food items before, so I can carry some extra meads like Ratatosk Tonic for example.
did AI pathing get fucked in the latest update? i feel like they give up way too quick when they cant find a good path to you
and run away so far
It hasn't changed, no.
I've also noticed slightly different behavior.
like charred warriors getting stopped by 2 pebbles and then taking 20 seconds to re-engage
Haven't checked lately but if you turn on pvp you used to be able to harpoon tamed boars. Watch your stamina though and/or have temp pens on the way.
Still can
so, apparently my very tiny mistlands island can spawn hares
i think they're the only mistlands "enemy" that doesn't require all 4 corners of a chunk to be mistlands, so all you should need is some unobstructed terrain
yeah, just worries me a bit if they can spawn since that might mean seekers can
considering it's an island, it is likely that the water around it also counts as mistlands, which would likely mean that it is a full mistlands chunk and seekers can indeed spawn ๐
you don't need it un-spawnproofed do you?
I don't, but it would be nice to get hares without the bugs lol
fair point
Bugs Bunny?
can I just say the iolite greatsword is the most badass looking melee weapon in the game
gonna go tear up some fuling camps with it and my flametal armor
I love mage but I really don't think anything can compare to the feeling of tearing a whole camp of fulings in half with just a greatsword and some god of war music
ok fader is genuinely a really fun bossfight
yeah, he's like a much fairer yagluth
geez what a party...there was a ghost, a seeker 2 skellis a leech and a charred warrior duking it out in the swamp
yk I forgot that the charred can spawn in the meadows now that I've killed fader
only the warriors tho i think
If only Yagluth had some melee attacks too.
uh i would recon the blue fire aoe counts as melee range since its directly around him
I mean like melee swings with his hands for example.
And marksmen ๐
you sure?
Wiki says so, i can check the data that was mined
I trust
And twitchers aparently cant
Hello. New to the discord. Searching for an answer. Is anyone else having issues typing on signs ?
Are you perhaps on xbox?
Then it is a known bug ๐ fix for it is currently in testing branch and should be out sometime soon
Awesome thank you

interesting. a tame (skellie in this case) won't attack a greydwarf that's trapped in a spot near a fire and is frightented.
guys what is the command that removes items that are dropped
removedrops
...OK charred fortresses make nice prebuilt bases xD
Might use this first one I've taken over to try and trap askvin for taming
yep. i've turned every one into a portal spot. up to 7 now
removedrops
do the grausten walls and window walls have the same health?
Hello Warriors. Wondering if anyone had any issue starting worlds lately. I have 70 mods installed that are all pretty common and on the high end of the mod lists.
Wait. I should probably put this in help. Disregard!
They will disregard it even in the help channel as it should go to #mods-issues ๐
Thank you. ๐
so, how good is the demolisher at its namesake?
You mean.. demolishing? Pretty good at it.
yeah, just wanna know if it's good at destroying structures in the wild
I've collected grausten from the ruins in Ashlands and bronze from the Fortresses (the spikes). It demolishes them well.
it can break the spikes? sweet
Yeah outside the walls.
You actually bother gathering grausten?
I've got like 40 stacks of the stuff and I never went out of my way to gather it lol
Enemies in the ashlands pretty much sneeze in the general direction of rocks and they get wrecked
It's at the point where I might actually do a build from scratch now since I'm getting so much of it haha
does anyone know if i can fish magmafish from the shore or if i have to be in deep water?
Yes, if you build something big out of grausten you want to gather it too.
Well if irs truly, truly massive then I guess yeah.
I don't think I personally am likely to be short on it if I just keep playing as I am
I created a pretty detailed mead hall out of grausten so it did cost lots of it. I just took the Demolisher and demolished lots of ruins near cleared fortresses.
I kinda have this idea for my next build where it's like a 3 story thing, with a black marble basement and grausten for the other 2 floors, with black marble floor on the ground so the basement is where all eitr refinery and magic stuff goes
So i get to split the burden between my resources
Not sure where I'm likely to build it, I think black forest seems like the most likely biome
Or mountains maybe
Heh, I have quite similar building with black marble basement with Eitr refineries, Galdr table and storage for crafting mats.
Given you ideally want the walls to look consistent on the outside doing black marble for the basement just makes sense, and you need a means of containing the eitr refineries spurts
hey guys just finished me and my friends base in valheim for those who followed it i wanted to give a update! โ #building-screenshots
Love potion is the best potion offered and nobody seems to notice. Poor trolls, getting overlooked like this....
im a huge valheim fan but i think ashlands is just poorly designed. Whats the communitys popular opinion on that?
its fine
Ashlands is pretty controversial, some love it some hate it, but the majorities opinion shouldn't affect yours
Im not sure I like ashlands, but its certainly better than mistland for me
Mistlands slap tbh
I think its way better in concept than in execution.
That it's good.
this!
I think it is perfect in concept and execution.
A more accessible landscape is my only issue
Me, it was that there was water everywhere and that the main enemies would often push me off cliffs into the water, which was always disastrous for me
That's the grind
And yeah, mix of low visibility and annoying landscape was, well... annoying
All part of the grind
You can have a grind without massive knockback
it's why I always get the feather cape first. I'm always looking for the high ground in mistlands.
Yeah having known that I would have made the cape way earlier
first time lessons are always hard.
im gonna add that hunting wabbits was also annoying
oh yeah.
they were small, ran all over the place, and low visibility? Its just frustrating
So... they hit the nail right on the fucking head with their design for the biome is what I am hearing?
I usually wait until I find a clear spot. There are usually lots of rabbits in those low areas with trees.
I wouldnt say that, otherwise them videos Im watching wouldnt describe mistland and ashland as "controversial"
I would say exactly that.
Because the annoying biome is annoying.
Meaning they nailed it.
yeah. I'm actually enjoying combat in Ashlands. it's quite challenging.
Ashlands, the war biome, is constant fighting.
Meaning they nailed it.
I sorta figured out how to fight one star charred warriors. I dont really like it but what else can I really do?
Basically I just swipe once and then roll away
that works. If you use a polearm, you can cheese them easily.
it's alright, I don't hate it and I think it's well designed but it's not my favorite
one regular attack, one secondary attack. pushes them back far enough that you can do it again.
two star warriors must be ridiculous
mistlands is my favorite by far, then probably mountains, the gear unlocks there just open so many options
if they hit you, yes. Don't let them.
My trick with the polearm works for them too.
do yourself a favor and never try to make the dyrnwyn if you struggle with warriors
do you somehow survive them more than me? One star warriors instantly staggers me
Don't tank them. Like I said, use the polearm to keep them at bay, or dodge.
You got good armor & food?
Im just weirded out with what Scissors said
food, I think im good, armor im still in the process. I got an unupgraded ask armor
That's what I run too. Do you use a magic bubble?
and im using a carapace shield. Or rather was, because I no longer try to tank them.
No, maybe I should but im not using magic at all.
that's how i survive.
yeah, I don't melee most of the time, but when I do they're still not that hard
well, good for you
and when I melee I'm doing it in squishy mage armor, I don't have any padding to save my ass if they break the bubble, all you gotta do is combo them when you get the chance and dodge, block, or parry around their attacks
The bubble is a game changer, for sure.
well i stopped trying to parry those. I find it too hard to read their attacks
probably the strongest item in the game tbh
I've meleed them without the bubble still, typically a good combo from the lightning axes will shred them quickly
I still haven't perfectly timed the warriors attacks.
if you don't want to do that, find another way to get in & out, because if you try to just walk straight at them they'll stagger you really fast
you also have the option of bows, if you wanna have range without using magic
The problem with that strat is that it takes so long to kill them, you attract more. @wintry valve
Ye everything in the ashlands has to be fast and efficient
I've found that they typically alternate between feints and normal attacks
not sure if that has any truth to it though
don't think so
just listen to their breathe or their gasp or w/e for when they're attackin
Once you notice it you can't unhear it
Well I attract more no matter what I do so, meh
yeah
If you're getting staggered when trying to block, that's a food issue.
what do you suggest I use?
you're not running magic, so piquant pie, roasted crust pie and mashed meat.
and maybe switch to flametal armor if you can.
oh yeah I was meaning to replace glazed chicken with mashed meat
improving your AC will also improve blocking somewhat.
and I cant make flametal anything yet
I hear ya. It took me a while to find enough too.
im still breeting them lizards to get materials to make bath salt bombs
I'd say keep exploring instead. you'll find enough asksvin.
too late
by all means, keep breeding if you have them. but don't focus on it.
Might as well since I am all set for it
Magic food: EEF
Non-magic food: HHS
You need 160 HP to parry with the Carapace Buckler.
HHS purely from Mistlands-tier is 220.
let me just say, catapulting halfway across the world from the top of a mountain to land on top of a sealed tower is actually peak valheim
well I had like 280 hp and they staggered me
I'm gonna go do that again but bring my staffs this time so I can raise hell on that tower
Also I just figured out that I can go in a stone portal with metals even if the other side is a regular portal
do tetra fish in the tetra ice lake cave run out? or do they respawn?
Fight with Moder resulted in just over 90 silver scattered on the ground.
how would they make a difference?
because you are supposed to catch them with a rod, so if you dont the ui doesnt count it as caught
pretty sure thats how it works
well even when u reel it in ur still pressing e on it to pick it up
hmm, idk then. but yes the caves will respawn the fish
well thats what i like to hear thanks
hey, question. how are we supposed to get more trades with the bog witch?? im missing lots of items from her, ive killed up to bonemass. but have only unlocked the meadows spice. i cant buy the sythe handle, or the toadstool. is it supposed to unlock this slow???
Kill Moder
(yeah it's weird)
also it was a new world with old characters, so we killed bonemass first, then the deer.
no unlocks, so we killed the elder.
but i get it now, thinking about it more
You get a bunch of stuff after killing Moder. You also need to kill a serpent (on your world after the update) in order to get the seafarers herbs.
Now prepare to open console and see if the game screwed you over
Oh my god that's even worse
so thats a thing that can happen
I swear I've seen that character somewhere but I can't put my finger on it
well the game seems to do backups, lemme see if I can restore it
Well it got a previous save or I dont know. This is miffing a bit because I was in the process of sieging a fortress and I managed to break both summoner things.
third fortress in a row that held no flametal what so ever just one iolite gem and some money ๐ฆ I died three times getting in there ๐ฆ sigh
Ouch. Bad luck
making my way over to where fadder is there are three more fortresses... but getting flametal has been a real chore have to be mining it all myself ๐ฆ
I know how that goes...
TIL. Gotta try to hear next time I play. My tactic has been to prepare parry either attack, since the normal and feint attacks have small timing difference, I've been successful with that.
"Hey look a flametal pillar"
uses mining pick once
"...aww, already a disturbance in the force? ๐ฆ "
Also seeing people here talking about charred warriors, I noticed that they seem basically unable to act if you use the mistwalker
I once had 3 Lavaiathans very close and since they have only 1% chance to start sinking you'd think I could have gotten lots of flametal from them? Well, 2 of 3 started to sink after few hits, quite the odds.
I've only mined from 3 so far, first one never dipped and still has flametal left on it near the top, I'll probably go back to it.
Next 2 I learned my lesson and started mining at the top. One of them completely mined, never moved. The other one started sinking really early
It's annoying that I have to go back and Don my feather cape just for mining flametal because I've been using the Ashen Cape as part of my ashlands combat build.
(Battlemage setup. Ashen Cape, Flametal Helmet, Embla Robes and Trousers)
I've also been a huge fan of the staff of fracturing, seen that many people apparently don't like it. If I'm going back to the plains or mistlands I agree that the staff of embers is probably better but I've been getting lots of mileage out of fracturing in ashlands
Damn I got spoiled for like 13 things just glancing at this chat
Look if there was a spoilers chat I'd go there to chat ok, I'm sorry
Well, it'll be like that unfortunately.
But yes, its hardly surprising. It'd be kinda like watching a YouTube video on a video game you want to play and getting upset at seeing spoilers in comments
Everyone progressing at their own pace and there are many that have finished most of the content so there is no way to avoid spoilers in this chat.
Best way to avoid spoilers would be not reading this chat.
That Is sadly what happens when on game discord ๐
Morgen gjall.
If that was with just glancing what would have happened if you had really looked?
Meh, majority of discords I'm apart of have a spoiler chat or a rule to use the spoiler marking.
Anarchy
Not here, you are on your own risk here ๐
Apparently, please stop pinging me back, going to avoid this channel like the plague now
Tho usually when you say you are a new player others will try not to spoil ๐
Until someone comes along that doesn't realize and the jig is up.
I never thought that I would have to wait for wolves to spawn...
It might be easier to just domesticate them
I would say get at least one starred ones for it to be worth it ๐
I need fur
hi
You could go at night for increased spawns and starred wolves
they should give fenrings a drop other than wolf fangs
Wait... At night? Oh maybe I should do that
even 1-2 fenris hair would be nice
starred wolves only spawn at night yes
And the spawn rate and spawn limit are increased significantly
Oooooh
I should do that but transporting wolves from across the continent is going to be painful
You donโt need to transport anything, by going at night youโll be able to get much more wolf fur from hunting.
Oh no I meant as guard dogs
Does anyone else find it useful to generally wear ashen cape, and switch to feather cape for any jumps they would like to do?
I don't NEED guard dogs, because I have a moat and it pretty much keeps 99% of things away
I always wear feather cape, why would you wait for capes to equip constantly mid-combat?
Oh I'm just enjoying the defence of the ashen, since I need that a lot more than jumping at the moment, and then sometimes there's a big jump I need, so I carry the feather as a switch
I wear just Ashen.
Valheim is so freaking cozy
If you enjoy Valheim, you enjoy iron farming.
Not to self... Maybe don't hunt for starred wolves in fenris
the iron farm is the worst farm
No?
Once you get to Mistlands it gets easier.
its pretty bad yeah, but id say infested mines farm is wayyyyyyyyy worse
aids level: infested mines (finding them) > silver farm > iron farm
Yo Vikings! Is it possible to place stack of regular food (not feast)? If no, are there any plans on enabling this? I really like to eat food from table without need to place it again and again and again
ive done a ton of playthroughs and beat the game a number of times. i rather farm flametal & infested mines than swamp dungeons
its a personal preferance
fair enough
ya i mean i def agree with you tho, especially when ujust arrive.. holding left mouse button zzzz
I don't think you can atm, but you can put it in #suggestions ๐
I can't wait to get to the plains and finally... Flat land ๐
Living near a cliffside has very big disadvantagea
I'm probably going to do a 300 Iron run so I can secure myself for the plains biome
Because from what I remember the plains use ALOT of iron
Plains is just the iron armor you deserve ๐
I'm farming pelts and a golem just wiped a group of fenris and wolves
I'ma keep it alive and see how many it kills
I usually just skip padded armor. Not really worth it imo since i wear fenris + root harnesk in plains and Carapace is cheap and easy to craft.
The full set takes 10 iron and 12 refined eitr to craft. The carapace and scale hide are a non-issue since you'll be drowning in them anyway. How is it not cheap?
Drowning in scale hide?
What magical land of infinite, easily killed bunnies do you live in?
put base at a Mistland border or set up sharp stakes around your Mistland base or farm.
Even greydwarves oneshot mist hares
All you have to do is run around every now and then and collect
Scale hide kinda depends on where you enter the mistlands from a bit
From the perspective of a player who does little building, my tactic was to look for pstches of mistlands near swamps and chase the hares out. They're sitting bunnies in the water
same, except i use atgeir/frostner/bow. havent figured out how to do mistlands without wisp yet
i might do padded helm
Easiest way is to sail around the edges of Mistlands until you find a mist-free area with a mine. They're not that rare.
Same for dvergr outposts though you can usually see them through the mist too since they have their own wisplights.
giant skulls you need to get lucky or brave the mists, but i mostly find them by listening for ticks anyway so sight is not strictly necessary.
I would never say I was "drowning" in scale hide and I did find myself just shy of the final bits needed to upgrade gear to level 4... but that's superficial, considering what's required to get a level 4 Black Forge/Galdr Table
I mean you need 9 scale hide to craft the carapace set. We're not exactly talking about stacks upon stacks here.
alright, ya def gonna try that next playthrough. been skipping a lot of "natural progression" this run and it feels a lot faster and fun tbh
Find out that Iron Battlehammer from some mod has same moveset as atgeirs (spin2win stun on heavy attack)
Is this only mod thing or where is other weapons in game with same moveset but NOT atgeirs? Ideally 2hand sword or axe.
No, every weapon category has its own moveset.
damn... we play on hardcore with extra difficulty and it's pretty much a death sentence to go melee with some thing without aoe stun...
There is no weapon that stuns so...
well atgeirs does, but i don't like it normal attack...
I doesn't stun.
It just hits things in an aoe with knockback.
If it does enough damage it can stagger, but that isn't built into the weapon.
by stun i means stagger, sorry
Omg it's a mimic
no, i'm not ๐
Best shield in the game fully upgraded ๐
And back out to farm more Carapace for armor ๐
It does have a 6x stagger multiplier though, I don't think any other attack can do more stagger.
padded is just good drip
A biome-appropriate atgeir staggers pretty much everything that isn't a boss with its secondary. Fuling berserkers, seekers, charred, doesn't matter. It's the whole reason for the "spin to win" meme.
I need to change my name to include how long I have been playing....
Just did ze maths on Demolisher vs. Himminimmnimiminnmmin (in terms of stagger)
It's interesting.
not bersekers and lox im pretty sure
and not seeker soldiers
or does it depend on ur skill level? because for example, i cant stagger berserker with black metal atgeir + 30 lvl
Probably? I'm staggering them pretty reliably
Skill level affects damage of the weapon, so stagger will change too
no idea what my skill is though ๐
alright i guess just the skill level
Stagger dealt is physical + lightning damage * stagger multiplier
Aka skill issue
xD
goddamn ive been sleeping on demolisher, its insanely useful
especially so in mines
ya just started progressing on ashlands, curious if it does good on fortresses
and i just learned you can dig under the middle tower inside the fortress, so ima just skip the battering ram altogether
Demolisher is the reason i survived the initial ashlands ptb landing๐
You could, but I dont think it's worth. It works pretty well
why not worth? battering ram just faster?
Probably yeah. But it's also fun xD
im just tired of having to bring the mats, having it get stuck in the doorway, then possibly having it get stuck on stuff inside (like gravestones, bad terrain)
Any chance of the building pieces getting a 3 axis rotation in the future?
No.
Sad.
Also no.
why?
do you hate the creative spirit of humanity?
Do you hate the way the game is currently designed?
No. I just see some stones in goblin camps that have a quirky Y rotation so I figure there may be a chance.
i'm not 100% sure, but probably Gizmo mod could do this
Example?
it can, and things rotated like that remain vanilla-compatible.
the game is capable of such rotation, we just sadly don't have the tools for it in vanilla and i don't think the devs want us to
as long as all you do is rotate things in "illegal" ways using gizmo, you can load up that world without any mods just fine, it won't break anything
Winter and I define "fine" differently ๐
what
It's fine if they don't want that, building as it is has so many creative options as is.
Nah, dont bother about it
Weird butt-in, but ok.
is there a way to disable the "new build piece" spam?
Honestly would be great if there was, never thought to ask this haha
"Shut up game, got bigger fish to fry right now!"
yea like u arrive in ashlands, pick up ashwood or something and ur entire left screen is just disabled
while you have an undead army to kill
Lava blob explodes and you pick up Ashwood and Grausten for the first time, at the same time.
The spam never ends xD
That happened to me ๐
are the "You are being hunted" events more common in the plains? I swear I only had it once in the mountains but i've been in the plains for a day and had it happen like 3 times
btw, just because it happened right now, has the magic cast cancelling bug(?) been addressed? it's incredibly annoying, you use the eitr but dont cast the thing. i think it happens if you cast + do some action, like jump, at the same time
It's the same chance in both biomes
This happens with all weapons, not just magic
alright
Meanwhile you actually need to deal with voltures, a charred spawner and 2 morgen all at once, while having no familiarity with what many of these enemies are capable of.
btw, can you hit spawners inside fort with demolisher?
Never had to fight two Morgens at once before. Hope you survived
Is there any way at all to deal with suddenly spawning valkyries, when you're already well on your way to a lavaithan, or is that just the luck of the game and RNG means you have to corpse run in lava now?
Honestly I think asksvin and fallen valkyries are both more threatening than the morgen are, morgen just take a long time to kill
think I agree, also all 3 of them help you kill charred though ๐
Just a note on my previous comment in case developers keep an eye on the chat - I would be happy to see a re-design of the laviathan mining gameloop. I tend to look at game balance in terms of "What did I learn from that experience?" and in this case, the only thing I could take from it was "If you don't want that to happen, do not engage with lavaithans more than a few meters out in lava.". I'm not sure I see another potential option, and generally I think it's best that in-game content shouldn't necessitate avoidance.
They do. I'm mostly just noting how many times I've die because a morgen joined a fight unexpectedly, vs how many times I've died because valkyries and asksvins joined unexpectedly and honestly Morgens are more kiteable than asksvins and more counterable than valkyries
If an asksvin spots you it's tantamount to either you or the asksvin dying unless you already planned its entrapment in advance. Those things are relentless m
morgens also are stormtroopers, often miss aka roll in the wrong direction
They aren't used to all their limbs yet and flail around.
I've had a Morgen clip through the floor while rolling once and then teleport back to the surface lol
also if I m melee I fear the asksvin more, if wizard I fear the valk more because all the stuff she casts makes me miss shield expiring sometimes
Morgen reappears, dazed and confused
"I've seen some shit. Let's stop fighting."
I'm doing a weird hybrid build with embla trousers and chest, flametal helm and ashen cape with bonemass buff in back pocket.
Staff of fracturing has so far been my lynchpin against all 3 of those enemies, meanwhile I rely on mistwalker for the regular charred
I fear the asks more than the valk, the valk is predictable the asks less so.
you mage or melee or ranged?
valk is hardest for me if mage
Valks are predictable but have a tendency to always seem to show up at the worst possible moment
they also kill skellies faster than asks for me
Mage main but I dabble in melee with ask set and root + lightning zerker axes I also try my hand at range with again the ask set and root and lightning bows.
Ye, my distraction force is quitebuseless vs valks haha
I've not played a game before that leans so heavily into randomness as its core mechanic for managing difficulty, like Valheim does
maybe intended I dunno
Oh it's absolutely intended.
Yeah, you are strolling around in the ashlands, nothing really happening and then you are suddenly set up on by mob after mob.
There are times it works very, very well - but I'm not sure from a player experience perspective whether it offers any advantage over a more balanced approach
I'm willing to be very wrong on that. I'm definitely enjoying the hell out of this game. But man, it's horribly stressful at times.
I've gotten used to just killing the mobs that come my way now, you get good at either running away or dispatching them efficiently
I just struggle with Valks as a mage, my skellies die too fast and then its just me seemingly too low eitr regen and hoping I always recast the shield in time
as a melee with barley wine is no issue
Yeah, part of the design intent, to me at least, appears to be the 'barbarian' approach to gameplay. Hold your ground and beat the absolute shit out of everything.
Sometimes we all need to be Brave Sir Robin.
The asksvin cloak and general asksvin armor set flies in the face of that approach though
Haha, yeah
It's designed specifically for picking your battles and running.
Not that I'm using them, I've gone with the Ashen Cape because I don't like running lol
I'm very much enjoying myself in the game. I reserve the right to complain loudly on the internet about dying on the game I like though
My ashlands experience so far is probably the closest I've been to crying over a video game since I was about 12 lmao
Yeah, never said you couldn't haha xP. We've all had those moments where the games bitten us in the butt in what feels like the most unfair way possible
I think everyone's had at least one 'Aww come on! Are you kidding me?' moment.
Mine was when I broke down a door in melee range in the infested mines, only to get instantly staggered and killed in about 1 second by the seekers who were behind it. Didn't realise one of them was 2 stars lol.
Ever since then I broke those doors with the arbalest
It was instant, totally unreactable
That moment for me is
Checking carefully, campfired all over the place before going for my first flametal vein.
No monsters. Begin jumping carefully across. Get to platform. See valkyrie far distance.
.... Mine ore. Can't see valkyrie. It's behind me. 10 seconds pass, lavaithan starts to float.
Valkyrie carefully guards my body outside of bow and arrow reach, level 2 asksvin spawns near my base.
with ashlands you just gotta set ur mind to accepting that you're gonna be fighting some waves of enemies anytime you wanna do something (also make sure u kill nearby spawners)
My first fortress took 2 days to take because day 1 I had to deal with waves of enemies around the fortress lol
ya pretty standard tbh
All I managed to accomplish on day 1 was breaking the front doors open after clearing out all the trash
All I will say is if a level 2 asksvin has spawned near your base it is night time and you should certainly just use the bed to tick time over to the morning
If youre in that bad of a spot anyway
yeah I just went home and tended my onions. They won't hurt me
I usually use staff of frost to kill them. You'll want triple eitr food as a pure mage in ashlands though for endurance, especially if your skills are low.
Once you get past 50 elemental skill it gets a lot more comfy with EES
yeah I often do triple eitr too, I did EES that time maybe that was the problem
Ele is like 34 I think
2x vines and fireball it, it will get melted
You might benefit more from EEF though, using the mistlands feast
yeah this happened once it died from burning but I forgot to recast bubble when it spun, we both died ๐คฃ
It's like, 65 hp and stam, 33 eitr. All in all in a really good ball of stats, better than even ashlands tier foods, just lighter on eitr
I break the doors with the demolisher. The door takes two hits and you're staggering anything behind it by the second smash.
I think my next playthrough is bow + 2H hammers
2 eitr one health is what I used starting mistland, then switched over to 2 eitr one stamina once I was more accustomed to the biome and my vines kept the mobs away.
My current build in ashlands is very strange though, using FHE as my meal setup
also love HSE hybrid with heavy armour, maybe one of my new favs
I use HHS, haven't felt the need for eitr yet
HSE with protection and wilds staff
literally all the Crowd Control, Primal axes and vines
Before I have staff of embers I'll attack the door with my knives till it almost breaks and then back off and finish it with the bow.
For extra safety I build cooking racks in front of the door, it stops the mobs and I can plink away.
Everyone who runs HSE needs to try EEF now tbh.
EEF is crazy strong
The bubble is so helpful.
how do you build cooking racks inside infested mines?
Completely replaces HSE imo.
This, eef is way better than hse
Actually, yeah, that would have gotten me out of the valkyrie sends me to fireball hell problem
EEF mage sounds real good why have I not done this
what is EEF?
Eitr Eitr Feast food option
Because you weren't here the day Feasts dropped and I updated the food sheet? ๐
The mistlands feast in terms of raw stats offers more of everything than a single ashlands food
Eitr, Eitr, Feast. food selection
I was here, am always here XD
Then idk
Is EFF not a good option?
Because I went off on how starting in Mistlands you should be running EEF.
My personal build would use EFF once I get the ashlands feast but I have not acquired it yet
My bad, cooking station is what I meant.
Before getting the mistlands Feast?
If both F's are Mistlands and Ashlands, possible.
yeah me neither haven't killed him in current playthrough yet
Oh, campfire?
?
If you're just getting into mistlands, you don't have the herbs for the feast.
no the rack where you attach deer meat and boar meat to
Then you shouldn't be using feasts for Mistlands.
The ball of stats offered by the plains feast makes it a good source for both hp and stam, I'd say even with plains feast eef is worth for a mage build, though with mistlands feast it gets real nice
No the cooking station that goes over the campfire, to cook meat on.
Feasts are for non-combat or previous-biome scenarios.
Regular food is always better.
Until you have killed Queen and only if you're running mage.
How am I just now learning that you can build cooking racks inside dungeons? ๐ณ
If running mage and only after killing Queen, EEF is a great standard setup.
yeah the Mist and ash feasts make it viable
Tbh, mistlands feast is bis food for first time you enter the ashlands, even if you're not a magic build
Cooking stations. It is a handy way to block mobs if needed.
I dont see any other food that gives 130 combined hp and stamina
havent been on the game for a while what are feasts?
Yeah. I thought you needed a workbench.
Not until after you get ashlands mats
new food versions unlocked by a new trader /spoilers
Unlocked by spoilers?
Nope, a few things that don't need a workbench can be build inside a dungeon and they have sometimes really helped me out.
one of the few things buildable without workbench
yea the witch right? ive seen her but havent rlly been doing that much w her only got the schythe thingy
yeah no kidding. wow
is it like really good food or something
