I didn’t realise the first time I fought him, but you can block his meteors. Instead of running as far away as you can which doesn’t leave you with time to attack him, just slowly walk backwards while blocking and you’ll be completely safe while also close enough to hit yagluth before his next attack.

No roadmap anymore, 2024 will be ironing out Ashlands bugs and some work on Deep North has also been started, Deep North biome will be released when it's ready which I have a strong belief is NOT in 2024, no one knows yet when its ready as there is still a lot of work to be done. Imho the devs don't know yet when it will be ready.

It will be announced when its ready so just have to keep an eye on the news, Deep North biome will most likely also have a Public Test when its ready for this.

You need to leave the biome completely alone; even sailing close enough to get the name pop up could mess up the update.

Personally, once the Deep North is released, and after a few patches of it, I'll likely start a new game to make sure that any of my exploring didn't mess with that biome.

You can start a bit earlier than that, depending on your playstyle. I created a new world a couple of months before the ashlands update dropped and just took my time getting ready for it.

It's a lot easier with Ashlands/Deep North because they pushed back the biomes to the very North/South poles of the map. Still got tons of places to explore, not like it was with Mistlands.

As in, you can run through the plains in order to get to the Moder altar without much trouble. Unless you run into a village, a tar pit, and 14 deathsquitos all at once.

quick tips as i just got past some initial mistlands stuff. try to find larger mistland landmasses. the little islands you can find won't generally have much. specifically in the valleys of the landmasses are where you find interesting things, though i have had success finding infested mines on the coasts. listen to the sounds carefully, you'll hear the seekers before you see them

It leaves you vulnerable to a one-hit kill from almost anything because it will break and as a mage you won’t have much health or defence.

Only thing I use that thing for normally is prospecting, in actual combat iit is too slow to be of any use. Cheesing foes through barriers is something I've rarely done, but this guy has no problems poaching me from safety, so time to bring out the Smash 🙂

I can imagine the knockback being really useful in groups where others take care of the actual killing

my original world from release day has this wonderful little strip of Mistlands that is so narrow that nothing but misthares can spawn, but it has roots and land to grow shrooms. Perfect spot for a shroomfarm with zero worries, apart from the odd fuling or deathsquito.

And the hares keep spawning inside my fence to get picked off easily, ideal place

Sadly if you make a new world with that seed it doesn't look anywhere near like the old world does

You should go to the swamp spawners instead of a greydwarf nest. You get a higher frequency of spawns which means faster leveling (still gonna take forever though, bloodmagic is painfully slow to level)

And the materials were not then in my inventory.

You can also tell it’s not saving because the time stamp on the character save doesn’t update.

Something seems off. Some of the upgrades to forge and workbench aren't possible til you get iron. But if I have iron, why would I upgrade leather or bronze gear? I'd just get iron gear at that point, making further upgrades to older tier gear pointless. Am I missing something here?

Hmn, what Boss can we do for Ashlands. Sure The Emerald Flame. He fits perfectly into the line of cumulativ annoyingess. We cant program insane A.I. so we just make it annoying as hell in the desert and since we dont want people to first try him he should get an AOE that wipes everything within 100m away. And we dont do that once every 5 min. We do that every 5 s! Insane Boss mechanics. Insanely fun.

At least it was the most beautiful 10 fps over 30 min in the game.

No it’s a thing. If you hide in the entrance she can’t reach you and will eventually go to a specific spot in the arena. If you put refined eitr in that spot and hide in the entrance (after killing any spawned seekers) you can just AFK for about half an hour and the queen will die from radiation poisoning

Personally I don't have the patience for cheesing a fight that way, I'd rather die a few times in a stand up fight, but any way that overcomes an obstacle (that isn't full out cheating) is as valid as any other. I admit killing a boss with refined eitr is on the extreme end of cheezing, but if the game allows it, it is valid 🙂

My playthroughs tend to lose steam once I hit Mistlands. The terrain is so annoying that it is just not a very enjoyable biome to explore. Instead of pushing on and spanking the queen I tend to leave it for later and start on a new world. Now that Ashlands is out I really should go back and revive those old characters and worlds, but... I enjoy the whole game up to Mistlands so much I don't feel that rushed. But I'm curious about Ashlands and new build pieces there, so a little bit torn.

Use a huntsman bow to lure small groups out. It has the smallest sound range so it will attract the least enemies.

Also when fresh to the biome I try to find rocks they can't climb and shoot them full of arrows from relative safety. The spear throwers can make it interesting, but kill them first. Shamans are of course troublesome, best pop them from afar. Avoid letting them get close if at all possible.

Also if you struggle with lox, the atgeir is an I-WIN-stick for those. Just sayin.

Hi everyone! Do you think bonemass buff is way too op? I catch myself thinking that I almost never swap the buffers with exception for eikthyr. (And I think mages uses the queen in place of bonemass)

Basically I spent the majority of the time after the third boss with his buff, there was no real reason to change it. The resistance provided is enough to "simulate" invencibility if you have the armor. That leaves me questioning if it is too powerfull or the other buffs are just not that usefull.

Yagluth's ability, while on paper being just as good as Bonemass, has two major flaws

One, when are you ever going to need resistance to more than one elemental damage type at a time?

Two, you can brew potions that give you resistance to two of those three damage types, or get them from armor, meaning that even in a situation where the resistance could be helpful, there are better options

As for The Elder's power, that one's basically never worth carrying

I keep swapping it with ashen cape. When not in combat I swap to feather.

But there should me more sources of fire damage in ashlands, as I can count it is mostly lava blobs (you find a lot but is a simple matter of dodge away), warlocks (very easy to kill), lava (nothing to be added here kk) and fallen valkiries (its tough but do not have many flaming ttacks).

The only boss that has a lot of flaming attacks is fader, but also, you can just avoid it.

as someone just getting mostly done with Mistlands for the first time, i understand your first impression. it felt horrible when i got there. i struggled and made feather cape and it made the biome 100 times better. that and understanding better how to explore it. ie, finding the easy valleys, because that's where all the stuff i need is.

also, understanding what to look for in Mistland areas. my first attempts at exploration were all small island chains which had nothing. then i set sail again, found a big landmass. explored that, getting experience. and now i set sail again and found something similar.

and when you're rocking mistlands gear and food, you just feel safer and better about exploring

many weapons in the game are affected by multi-target penalty - the more things you hit in one swing, the less damage each thing takes, though this isn't divided. hitting more things still deals more total damage than hitting one thing.
however, the terrain heightmap also triggers this penalty, despite not taking any damage, so standing on top of rocks to make sure you're not also hitting the ground can increase your damage

Man, I'm behind i quit playing after the Mist Lands update because of how hard it was and im the only one out of my friends that likes the game so its pretty hard to play solo so i pretty much gave up on it

Good news is you can go into your world and change the difficulty settings, and resource drops, all in the base game now. You don't need to be blocked by that. I know I don't play on the crazy difficulties a lot of others here do 😉

I'm one on one with my gf and I stutter around the base but she don't yet we have twin laptops.

I plan to format my laptop.

Make sure you don't have any airflow or cooling issues too. Valheim is very CPU intensive when bases get big, and having dust in the vents or whatnot can significantly affect it, especially with a laptop that already has very limited heat management

i solo the queen with magic and took 10mins. was very easy. compared to my 3 man team, that took almost an hour. she scales up in health alot in co op

Ok, so, here’s how I would approach this situation:

• find an area of biome nearby that is of a level you’re comfortable setting up a base in.
• sail to that area and set up a small outpost.
• equip your best gear, food, and meads
• make a small approach in to the plains towards the area where you died
• take your time and keep your eyes and ears open
• when you some way in, but not so far that you don’t feel you could run in and grab your body, set up work benches to suppress spawns.
• repeat until you get your stuff back, pushing further in each time.

That, or request help from the body recovery squad.
