Unless you massively overdrive your headphone, which as someone mastering music you should definitely know not to do, there is not going to be any damage.
But even for the extremely unlikely case, you definitely won't be able to get a compensation from VRChat because your headphones didn't handle a simple clip from your normal out.

@cinder elk there are lots of factors that can affect your frame rate, many you have no control over, such as whether mirrors are visible, instance capacity and whether other users are continually swapping high poly avatars. Then there is the connectivity, your Ping rate dictated by the state of the networks between your router and the VRC servers. I can desktop in Furhub on a Ryzen 3 and Radeon Vega which is massively under-power but can still maintain good resolution in front of a mirror with full lobbies, albeit at a 15-20fps.

well, with the Vive I easily hit 90fps, even in crowded instances, but with the index, my 2070S is just slightly above the frametime target for 90 FPS, so with motion smoothing on, it drops me down to 45 a lot

Is something wrong with the servers? Whenever I open Unity the console gets spammed with an error saying "Could not fetch fresh config file. Using cached if available." until it eats up all 32 GB of RAM and locks up my PC. Only started happening today and with all my projects. Even the ones that have had nothing changed since as early as yesterday. The status page says it's all up but I'm not finding any other answers when googling. It also seems to break my internet by not allowing DNS requests to go through. (I'm using a self hosted DNS server; I can still ping IP addresses but not any local or remote hosts by DNS)

Figured it out in case anybody else runs into something similar. It was my VPN client. Unity does not work when I'm connected so I tried using its split tunneling feature to bypass the VPN. For whatever stupid reason even when the VPN is disconnected and even when the client software was not running it was somehow interfering with Unity's ability to connect to whatever servers it needed to for whatever reason it needed to.
Makes zero sense why it would do that.
