that bug has been there since before freighters were introduced. it has to do with the portable refiners and how their inventory works based on location. The duplication glitch take advantage of this.

if you're trying to build a fighter/explorer/hauler/solar sail, you need to acquire 3 ships of that same type, and get 1 of each of the part types (e.g. cockpit, wings, thruster) by salvaging the 3 ships at the starship outfitting terminal (extract customization module). you'll also need a reactor to build it. see <#nms-commands message>

Neutron cannon gets crazy high numbers related to charging speed, for instance, but in practice that makes zero difference; so much that you can configure it in two ways, one for the highest possible DPS, one for highest actual damage in the field

That's more related to the quality of modules and SC layout you have. On MTs, neutron cannon and pulse spitter are solid choices, but you can make a boltcaster quite powerful with all the upgrades. So it comes back to taste. Refer to #no-mans-sky message

Floating islands as a base start isn't a terrible idea as they can spawn higher than the terrain which the green tops allow building so you could get much higher than normal.

fighter ships? Best bet is to visit a Vy'Keen system (larger portion of ships there will be fighters) and look for crash sites. Then all you have to do is repair enough to take off and you can scrap them at the station

At the very least if you're able to survive swimming down you can build a base computer. When you reload your game you'll be at your base computer and your ship will be floating above you at the surface

At first I also played it in single player, but I also wanted to play it with my friends to discover or build together

They still have their internal servers that are used to connect us with multiplayer events and their rewards. The discovery system for planets, flora, fauna and minerals and the proc gen systems we connect to.

But a multiplayer session itself is hosted by the player. Not HG servers.
