That's up to you but personally, I would only do shortcuts like that, or duping, etc, once I have already finished the game the and done all the mechanics, then it's just a matter of personal preference.. IE, avoid grinding.
At some point in the game, getting any kind of resources is merely an inconvenience, so using creative mode at that point makes sense, if you don't care about roleplay.
