hi everyone! not sure if this is the right section but i am working on doing my own overlay from scratch and it seem that my background video have a small pause (maybe half a second, but noticeable) when it loops. is this something that can be fixed in some kind of setting somewhere i am not seing?

The AMD encoder is indeed hot garbage. For x264, it depends on the preset you're using. The slower, the better the quality but the higher the CPU usage. Something like fast-medium is recommended, any slower isn't necessary.

Yeah lower CPU usage is overall better, but when using a lower (faster) CPU preset, quality will get worse. I'm not sure if you ever thought about it, but getting a Nvidia GPU would help a ton because their encoder are really decent.

Hey Eglorian! I use Touch Portal application on an old iPad, which works incredibly well for that. There is a free version with some button spaces and the full version you can have unlimited buttons. It is possible to customise the actions more than the Elgato's one

Best positioning for a mic is 4-6” from your face and talking towards it. If you can’t put it in front of you, off to the side with small gain adjustments to compensate for the angle are best

Yea I have it right in front of me with he boom arm coming from right side of my table, I just find it distracting sometimes when I play games I was thinking of having the arm come out from between my monitors and being upside down or even off to the side alittle just to focus more on the game

You could try mounting it horizontal on the boom so you can position it without interfering with your view

Hi, I had a similar issue with my PS4 and WiFi. This may sound silly, but I had the best results when keeping the PS4 as close to my router as possible haha! Do you have a long distance between the PS4 and your internet wifi signal?

Not saying that’s the solution, but it helped me believe it or not. If you can, give it a try! If you’re gaming/streaming AND watching playback from a computer browser all on the same wifi, that could be cause for playback lag?

according to this: https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/self-help-center/eos-webcam-utility/ the PowerShot SX500 is not listed as supported for their webcam utility. According to Elgato, that particular model is also not supported for CamLink. Unless it outputs a clean HDMI signal, I don't believe you can.

I'm sorry, I don't own and xbox so I don't possess a working knowledge of party chat audio. I'm reading on the Xbox forums that: "When you stream through xbox, there is a setting in the twitch app to include party chat." Have you checked out their forums for more specific info on party chat troubleshooting? I'd give those a read-through or contact their support team for more thorough assistance

I'm an all-AMD machine man and I think that's a little against the grain, especially when it comes to GPUs? I built my custom PC via AVADirect if that helps-- took advantage of nice fee/shipping deals during Black Friday a couple years back. IMO when it comes to PCs, it's best to "assemble" your machine, whether you end up building it yourself or have the provider put it together prior to shipping it to you

In both there are:

32GB ram
RTX 3060

Could you be dealing with any of these models? Have you got any recomendations for me?

Same price, same parameters. Asus have 144hz and lenovo 120hz. This is the main difference which is not very important to me.

I am more concerned with the opinion of specific models, cooling or a battery.

Tbh if you can pick up a desktop with similar specs for a similar price I’d get the desktop. That’s just due to a laptop not having sufficient cooling power and limitations of GPUs in laptops

This isn't Streamelements related, but maybe some folks here could help me out. A friend is trying to stream a C920 webcam to both OBS and Discord simultaneously. Any thoughts on how to pull this off? Personally, I use Snap Camera, and that lets me to stream it to Discord while it's also being used as a source in OBS, but Snap Camera eats too much of his CPU, so I'm looking for any other workarounds folks might know of.

Hello I recently got a new PC for streaming and I thought the upgrade would make life easier but it's only made this worse I can't get the stream to display 1080p 60hz on twitch. My new PC can run the game (War thunder)I play at max settings very easily but when it comes to the stream everything shutters or it's unsmooth or blurry I've played around with a lot of the settings I got it to about 80% but no matter what I do I can't seem to be able to get a smooth 1080P60 Hz stream. I currently using the recommended settings by twitch which gave me the best results so far.

Resolution: 1920x1080
Bitrate: 6000 kbps
Rate Control: CBR
Framerate: 60 or 50 fps
Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds
Preset: veryfast <-> medium
Profile: Main/High

My PC specs are:
ryzen 9 5900x
3070 gpu
16gs ram
All ssd hard drive

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it thank you

If you are gaming and streaming on that machine, i wouldn't recomend trying to stream at 1080p. Bump down the resolution to 720p on OBS and see if that helps. What encoding are you using on OBS?

I had a significantly crappier PC before that ran 720p at 60hz so I don't see why my new PC wouldn't be able to run a 1080p at 60hz stream. For some reason I'm getting better results with X264 instead of NVENC idk I thought the 3070 would do better.

do you monitor your CPU when streaming?

just use the Windows Task Manager Performance section and keep an eye on it and check how its behaving

if its spiking or reaching 100% while streaming at 1080p, than thats your culprit

I don't normally monitor the CPU but I did during my tests and it doesn't really get used. I pushed up the encoding presents to medium and that users about 15% at it's maximum

oh wait, I would also say: Dont stream to Twitch at 1080p if you are not a Partner as you dont get more than 6000 bitrate, which makes 1080p streams not the best looking. You need that 8000 bitrate that Partners get to have a nice 1080p stream

The game that I play is called War thunder and if u look at Twitch currently there are several streamers within the 10 viewers per stream area that are running 1080P streams at 60 Hz that are very smooth which I believe I should be able to achieve the same thing just a matter of playing with the settings. What Mics are ya'll using for your streams? I'm looking at the Blue Yeti or Blue Yeti X but not sure if it's the best idea. Budget is around $200.

Everything looks fine spec wise to be able to stream at whatever resolution. If you are playing a game that is resource heavy on your GPU then you may need to switch to x264 for encoding. I streamed on a 3600xt and 1650 super and could easily stream any game at 1080 and 6000kb/s and on High graphics. I now have a 6800 and also have a Avermedia 4k Live gamer that does all my encoding and works very very well. Also I do not stream at 1080 because like the other guy said 1080 at 6000 does not look the best and if someone is watching on mobile it can be harder for them to watch without buffering because of the required bandwidth to watch a stream at those settings. I recommend 720 at 4500. looks good and is easy to watch

I ended up solving the issue by making a few changes but the biggest thing was putting my bitrate to 8000 it's been working out great for me and my viewers love it

Awesome. But just FYI Twitch only outputs 6000 to the actual stream until you hit partner. It is a limit on the twitch servers. But glad you got it fixed

You can also do that with nested scenes instead of using NDI.

If you create a scene with just your webcam full-screen, then add that scene to your scene you want chroma applied to, you can add the chroma key to the nested scene and it will work for what you're looking to do.

I'm assuming you want one scene where the chroma is green and the other scene where it is blue?

So if you're green, add the chroma filter on the camera scene webcam

when you nest it in your other scene, you can add the blue chroma filter to remove the tarp

add the filter to the nested scene source in your 2nd scene

I use a 1050ti for streaming and i run into graphics / frame rate issues while trying to stream modern games. I wouldn’t go much less than the 1050 unless you’re only going to be streaming games that are like 6-8+ years old. Some newer games run fine, but most won’t

I did an IRL setup via RTMP server and now I was wondering how do I send the audio of the alerts that are played on my pc to my phone so that they are sent to the speaker, the only solution I found was to copy the url of the alert source and copy it to a web page on the phone but it stops when I leave it. I ended up using a blue yeti to the PS5, HyperX cloud through usb to the pc. Had to set audio out to HDMI/tv on PS5 settings and mic setting to the blue yeti usb mic. I am able to get all sound properly now

@patent forge At a quick glance, you shouldn't have any issues really - you'll automatically be saving some resources as well because Twitch, FB and YT only accepts 60fps at most. You'll have 144fps on your end no trouble, but it won't be more than 60fps for your viewers on any platform 🙂

Hey all, what's the best headphone I could purchase where I can adjust my voice tone preferably ones which are compatible for the Xbox, reason being I have very strong accent and a very deep voice which makes it harder for the viewers to understand me. not under $50 unfortunately. Things start getting decent at $100

at that point, stop searching for "streaming" mic, and just search for "mic"

for lower entry prices, try some of the USB mics, but anything under 50$ is not gonna sound good, so its a choice between waiting a bit and saving some more money and then getting a decent mic, like the Rode NT-USB, or one of the Elgate Wave Mics. There is also the Audio Technica AT2020 USB version.

I will always now recommend the elgato wave mics just due to the software. Having baked in Voicemeeter Banana that’s actually easy-to-use beats any usb mic on the market.

Most people wouldn't be able to tell the difference between it and a $300 one.

Drawback is that it requires an audio interface, I suggested umc22.

just have the problem that I do not know exactly which mixer I should choose or would be best.
I wanted to improve my sound quality a little and then I ran into the problem which mixer is best to use and since I still have an interface (Focusrite scartett solo) but the sound quality would be a little better what one takes now .
I'm currently between the two (** Yamaha MG06X mixer ** or ** Yamaha AG06 multi-purpose mixer **) but do not know whether it makes sense who you take them or is there a better recommendation or are they good if you only have an XLR for the time being Wants to connect the microphone.
But since I still have a wireless headset, you could connect the phone out to the pc via the jack so that you can use the wireless headset again or do you not need the jack because the interface forwards the signal to the pc?

I'm thinking of getting a 3900x rather than a 3700x Ryzen CPU
I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth spending more for the 3900x

for me the prices would be like this:
3700x = £300
3900x = £400

The TDP difference:
3700x = 65w
3900x = 105w
(PCPartpicker tells me the estimated wattage difference is basically 40w)

In terms of gaming, the difference is extremely minimal (asside from R6Siege, the frame increase in most games is no higher than 8 between the two)
BUT the difference in using Premiere and After Effects is roughly a 20% increase for the 3900x and Video Editing is Priority 1 with this machine

Do you think that 20% increase is worth the extra £100?

Consoles do not have native support for overlays. You would need a capture card, PS4 remote play or Xbox companion app and a PC with OBS in order to have overlays over your console gameplay.

I'm trying to find a way to easily capture other people's camera feed from a discord video call that DOESN'T require to me crop the heck out of it. I want an individual window on my stream for each person in the video call. My plan is to provide an overlay for each camera with a banner showcasing their username/Twitch.tv/or primary social media account which is why I want individual window captures. Is there another video call program that'll make this easier? Or perhaps a software tool I am unaware of that can assist?

There are no "best settings".
Please understand that every setup will be very different.

Any guides or videos that claim otherwise are misinforming. Your best option is to start with a base and adjust as necessary.

You can run the OBS auto-configuration tool. To use the auto-config, click on the Tools menu in OBS, select Auto-Configuration Wizard, and then just follow the on-screen directions.
You can use this tool to get baseline settings for your hardware and adjust as necessary from there.

Test, test, and test again. We are happy to offer suggestions for any issues you may be having afterward, but not a list of settings.

Hey Everyone, I am considering picking up a second hand PC since I play some GPU intensive games my Nvenc encoder crashes quite often which is really annoying and the stream just ends.
Not sure if the GPU is damaged or if im just doing too much

Now my question is if i pickup a pc just with a 1800x and 16gb memory Would the second pc's X264 Provide a better experience than my 2080ti NVENC encode?

Hi Guys. I have a question. What could be wrong, since I am logged into StreamElements via YouTube, create a chat, etc., copy the link, paste it into OBS and the chat window appears but no text entered before YouTube chat appears ..? I note that I did the same with Chat from Twitch and everything flashes. I want to stream to Twitch and YouTube at the same time.

I use solocast. I use gain, Noise gate, compressor, noise suppression filters. Play around with the settings to see what suits your audio quality the best. The echo is not something I experienced so I don’t have any idea about that

So inside the overlay editor on the web you can move the alert box wherever you want and emulate alerts so you can see it in obs

I would recommend doing that and making sure the position of the alert box is correct and then hit save.

Okay... So this may be lengthy.. I bought a prebuilt. Acer Predator Orion 3000 P03-620. It has an Intel i7-10700 with a Geforce RTX3060ti and a 500W atx12vo psu. I am streaming warzone and streaming at the same time and when I do this, I am getting INCREDIBLY low frames on warzone. Like 40-60 fps, even on the lowest possible graphics settings. My cpu usage is much higher than I believe it needs to be and I believe my psu to be the reason. With that being said, I've looked into getting a new PSU. However, with it being an atx12vo, I can't yet purchase an aftermarket psu to replace it with. I can, however, replace my motherboard and THEN replace the psu. But then I run into my next problem. If I replace my motherboard, I will potentially have to replace my case as well as my current case is tiny. I say all of this to ultimately say this, my darling woman has given me a budget of about 400-500 dollars for Christmas. If there is no viable way to fix this PC to make it run everything that I want to sufficiently, then I may just use that to purchase a streaming dedicated desktop or laptop. What do you think about my situation, and, if it would be better to just buy a streaming setup, what would be the minimum specs I'd need to run the streaming setup adequately? I know that was lengthy and I apologize but thank you all for any input.

What sorts of things can cause this,if the computer seems to work fine otherwise? My laptop has no issue,my desktop does.

Not all computers are created equal.

Whether it be the actual hardware within it.

Or the software running it.

Your laptop might have a newer driver installation that your desktop is missing and this mismatch could be causing a piece of software to act up.

You might have a faulty stick of RAM in the desktop but the laptop RAM is all seated properly and fresh.

There are a multitude of reasons why a piece of software will work fine on one computer and not the next. It all comes down to troubleshooting!

For example, this past week I ordered two identical servers in Canada to run OBS on them.

Same hardware, same operating system, same drivers, same software running on them both.

Both had full updates top to bottom.

One crashed every 3 hours, the other didn't.

Troubleshooting, troubleshooting, troubleshooting, 8 hours.

One of the pieces of RAM was bad in the server that was crashing.

Replaced it and good to go.

I would say look on the canon website-- they have a program called EOS Webcam Utility and if you see that model on the list, you can use it as a webcam-- as far as battery life, I have an adapter kind like this one which allows me to have it constantly plugged in.

How close are you putting it? Sometimes if it's too close it can't focus and will be blurry. Also is it blurry just on screen or via your stream? Because if its just your stream, it could be stream settings

Disclaimer: I am not a Vtuber nor have I ever checked out the software + equipment needed, but as I believe the cam is used to capture your movements, I would say good lighting conditions are more important than the camera.

yeah exactly, sometime ago people were surprised at the quality of my c920 as soon as I changed it to 1080p resolution and bought some photography lights for 50 Euros

as soon as you have good lighthing, the C920 shines

Hello hello! Yep if you have a 2D or 3D model and use software such as VTuber Studio or VSeeFace, just having a webcam with good lightsource will provide great facial tracking! Once you're calibrated, also go into your settings for either software to tweak to your liking

For the more complex set ups, it would mean having AR Kit (3D) and using a phone that has that capability, but thats a more advanced option that isn't needed when you're starting out.

If you are saving up for a webcam (and/or doing collabs where you dont want to have your model used with OBS Ninja), you can go the reactive PNG route by using https://discord-reactive-images.fugi.tech/ as a starting point while you wait on getting one in.
