yes, i think i figured it out though

Ah okay 👍

Which model do you have?

There is a bunch of different capture cards, which one do you have?

gleaming rose
thorn bloom
#

That depends on the monitor, different monitors support different mounts

gleaming rose
#
#

actually ima try the one that goes on the desk. if it's too heavy i can always take it back (cause this one will look a lot cleaner too)

#

and it's the same price

thorn bloom
#

You would have to check the monitor in question. That stand supports most monitors, but it's a good idea to check beforehand

gleaming rose
#

shoot i just bought it...if it's too heavy i'll return it...

#

how do i know if it's too heavy?

thorn bloom
#

The stand can support 22lbs per arm. If you have the monitor box or know the model you should be able to find out what it weighs. Remember to check if the monitor supports a different stand. It should say on the box.

gleaming rose
#

ah ok cool. i don't know about my current one but i'm sure i can find that out

#

thank you for telling me!!

thorn bloom
#

My pleasure.

thorn bloom
#

I don't know how true the information is, but it says the first stand can hold more per arm, however it is less flexible

gusty wagon
#

As long as it’s vesa compatible monitor and a VESA mount stand it should work. It’s just finding a nice one. Some people prefer something like an ergotron adjustible dual arm mount

#

They’re expensive though, but really durable

gleaming rose
#

anyone know why this cord won’t go into these medal ports? i keep trying and it’s not working

#

the cord looks like this

gleaming rose
#

bro i'm dumb, the connector won't go into all four holes

Question: I’m updating my gpu and got a gigabyte gaming oc geforce rtx 3080. Any opinions on that card?

#

You sure? I thought the 4th pin was for the addressing

lusty hollow
#

Nope. RGB is 4 pin, ARGB is 3 pin. Not sure why it is that way, but it is. Only reason I'm so certain is because I built my PC a couple months ago and the LED strip in the case uses ARGB

gusty wagon
#

I’ll be darned

#

Is the 4-pin for like CPU cooler data?

lusty hollow
# gusty wagon Is the 4-pin for like CPU cooler data?

So, the 4-pin RGB is a 12v and is used specifically for lights that aren't addressable. Essentially, just the ones that can't constantly change, whereas the addressable lights are used for stuff like a sliding rainbow effect. The ARGB 3-pin is only a 5v. I don't know the exacts of how everything works, I just know that it works and makes cool lights in my PC

does anyone know of any good wireless pc controllers? trying to get one for my pc (not sure if the one i'm getting for my switch will work)

so i'm trying to use a splitter so i can both play my game through obs and on the pc itself. however, it's not working. the switch and capture card are both in the splitter

gleaming rose
#

also does anyone know how to work icue?

#

i'm having trouble changing the other fan colors

#

and it doesn’t matter that fans are here right? there on the back of the pc but there’s no airway

#

so right now the capture card is plugged into my pc for power, and then there is an hdmi cable from the capture card to my switch. still not working...

gusty wagon
gleaming rose
#

there's also a download (i can't post the link here)

#

honestly i'm at the point where i'll just switch cables. it'll be a pain but i'll do it if i have to

gusty wagon
#

Make sure you have the drivers installed for your capture card so the system can provide power etc

gusty wagon
#

And have you switched the inputs on your monitor?

gleaming rose
gusty wagon
#

What card is it?

gleaming rose
#

avermedia

gusty wagon
#

If obs detects the card, then it’s working fine. The monitor should also detect the input as well.

gleaming rose
#

and i will also have a second monitor. and yea, that's why i'm not sure why it's not detecting my switch

gusty wagon
#

How is your monitor connected to your pc?

gleaming rose
#

it's plugged into the pc

gusty wagon
#

How?

#

Hdmi? DisplayPort?

gleaming rose
#

hdmi

#

but i can't find it which is odd

#

i'm just taking for word what my brother said

gusty wagon
#

if your card is connected via hdmi and your pc is connected via hdmi then one of those is incorrect

gleaming rose
#

hdmi 1 is capture card, hdmi 2 is monitor

#

and yes i’m on hdmi 1

#

hdmi 1 is on the left

gusty wagon
#

unplug hdmi 2 from your monitor and see what happens

gleaming rose
#

ok. also totally off topic question: why isn't the colors working for my fans, but they're working for the rgb stick? i'm using icue and i have corsair fans

gleaming rose
gusty wagon
#

try a different hdmi cable? Otherwise best bet would be to reach out to avermedia support

gleaming rose
#

ok i will. yea at this point i truly don’t know what to do. i’ve been troubleshooting for over an hour

#

and if i have to switch back and forth from cables honestly i don’t care at this point

gleaming rose
#

aight take 2. just gonna use the capture card and see if it works!!
